The Pros And Cons Of Blue Collar Work
Why is it that blue collar work is looked down on compared to white collar work? There is equal value
in work between the two types of jobs. Blue collar workers are working twice as hard as white collar
workers. They are having to use their hands and their brain to succeed at what they do. Blue collar
workers are not uneducated, they have to be smart to do their job. Also, without blue collar workers,
white collar work would not even exist. A common misconception is that blue collar workers are not
as educated as white collar workers. This is simply untrue, these jobs require workers to be able to
work smart. These workers are not only having to use their hands, but also their brain. In the article,
the author talks about what he has seen at a diner where his mother worked. He notices how the
waitress would watch the room and note who needed a refill, whose order was taking long, and who
was finishing up. It states in the article that She would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this was the case, some of these workers would not be able to do their job, that require smart
employees that can think. According to the article, many assume that intelligence is closely related to
education; meaning the type of education, how much, and how long. Some blue collar jobs do require
less education, but the workers are still extremely skilled at what they do. These workers have to be
precise and get their jobs done the right way every time. If all blue collar workers were undereducated,
they would not be able to handle this type of work. There is equal value in blue collar work and white
collar work. Not one type of work is better than the other in the term of value . Blue collar work may
not be as glamorous, but it does not mean it should not be respected. Both types of work require skill,
smartwork, and some form of education. No matter if you are working behind a desk, or at a factory; a

Public Relations Tactics for New Balance
1. The case reports on New Balance s strengths and weaknesses in terms of CSR. If you headed public
relations for the company, what PR tactics (aside from the CSR Report) would you undertake to
promote New Balance s many good deeds and practices?
New Balance (NB) had some great deeds and practices to flaunt on, specifically in the four categories
of overall governance, community support, operations and products and services. New Balance was
also an industry leader in many of the initiatives they took and were ranked fourth largest footwear
brand in the world. (2010, Dr. Veleva.V. New Balance Developing an Integrated CSR strategy. Page
14.) However, they have been rather shy/reluctant about talking about their various initiatives they
have implemented. In fact, their employees were also not completely aware of what the organization
was doing from a CSR standpoint. If I headed public relations for the company, I would use tactics
and strategies that targeted both internally and externally to promote the various good deeds/doings of
the company. I have explained on them below:
Internal: First, I would target our employees, as I believe employees to be spokespeople for the
company. Imparting the good deeds of the CSR doings would boost employee morale, engage or be
part of the deeds and they would like to talk about it, as they are feeling good about themselves and
the company. Some of the tactics I would use for communication are:
Creating an internal blog/forum to help

Condom Use A Method Of Birth Control
Condom Use a Method of Birth Control Introduction
The purpose of this instrument is to evaluate a health belief model based on condom use intervention
targeting undergraduate students. Research studies have been done to measure the number of people
who use condoms as a form of contraception (Moore Melkote, 2009). Research studies show condom
use and other prevention methods can reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STD), and
protect against pregnancy (Moore Melkote, 2009). HIV/AIDS Risk among College Students in the
United States was a study similar to the instrument survey I created. The study focused on the
correlation between condom use and the use of other forms of birth control at last intercourse (Moore
Melkote, 2009). Research data showed that the women used condoms to prevent pregnancy during
intercourse (Moore Melkote, 2009). The audience for my instrument consists of African American
college women and men involved in heterosexual relationships in an undergraduate program,
attending a public university in the United States. Adults in college are subject to catching STD s, and
HIV through unprotected sex (Moore Melkote, 2009).
The health behavior theory used in this instrument is the health belief model.
The health belief model: Perceived Susceptibility, Perceived Severity, Perceived Benefits, Perceived
Barriers, Cues to Action, Self Efficacy (Bandura, 2001). The self efficacy focus on an individual s

From the employer/employee social prospective, this case almost certainly, negatively impacts the
relationship between the two. Neither party can conclude what is mandatory or up for bargain when
contracting with one another. These imposed contracts have the unnecessary consequence of forcing
employers to retroactively extend to workers optional benefits for which they did not contract. Rules:

Factor Affecting Performance of Stock Market
Abstract
This study examines the effects of foreign direct investment, market capitalization and adjusted on
stock market using time series data from 1991 to 2011. A result shows that there is a significant
relationship between foreign direct investment and stock market, as well as there is also a significant
relationship between adjusted saving and stock market but there is insignificant relationship between
market capitalization and stock market. Foreign direct investment, Market capitalization and Adjusted
saving explains 90% of variation in the stock market. It is recommended that the government can

The results have shown positive statistically strong relationship between FDI and market
capitalization thus reflecting the complementary role of FDI in the stock market development of
Pakistan. Raza et al. (2012) investigated the role of foreign direct investment in developing host
country s stock markets and to examine whether they are related or not. The results disclosed a
positive impact of foreign direct investment along with other explanatory variables in developing
Stock markets of Pakistan.
Adam and Tweneboah (2008) analyzed the impact of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on stock
market development in Ghana. Market capitalization, FDI, stock market development and exchange
rate variable are considered and found long run relationship between FDI and stock market
development in Ghana. Raza and Jawaid (2012) investigated the effects of foreign capital inflows and
economic growth on stock market capitalization in 18 Asian countries by using the panel data from the
period of 2000 2010 and found that foreign direct investment has significant negative and economic
growth has significant positive relationship with the stock market capitalization, whereas, the results
of workers remittances is found insignificant in long run. However, no causal relationship is found in
between workers remittances and stock market capitalization. They suggested that investor should not

Our patient was admitted to the ICU with respiratory...
Our patient was admitted to the ICU with respiratory distress. Respiratory distress is caused by an
inflammation due to neutrophil activation. The body has an inability to transfer oxygen or carbon
dioxide. This leads to increased permeability of A C membrane, which then causes edema. Because of
the edema, there is an increase in fluid in the peripheral areas and edema in hands, feet, and the
scrotum. Decreased gas exchange also occurs because of the edema and mechanical ventilation is then
implemented. The ventilator settings for our patient were: Rate 15, Peep 12, Peak Flow 60, FiO2 95,
Flow Trig 1. Respiratory distress can also lead to multi organ failure if not treated; however, our
patient s respiratory distress resulted in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two mechanisms, insulin resistance and decreased insulin secretion, are vital functions that lead to the
development of Type 2 Diabetes. Insulin resistance is the effect that insulin has on insulin sensitive
tissues and their response to the insulin (McCance and Huether, 2010). Abnormality of the insulin
molecule, high amounts of insulin antagonists, down regulation of the insulin receptors,
decreased/abnormal activation of postreceptor kinases, and alteration of glucose transporter proteins
all lead to defects of the insulin molecule itself (McCance and Huether, 2010). Because the patient is
obese, he is at risk for hyperinsulinemia and decreased insulin receptor density. When compensatory
hyperinsulinemia occurs, the client may not begin to see the manifestations of Type 2 Diabetes for
several years (McCance and Huether, 2010).
Beta cells eventually undergo an apoptotic cell death. Beta cell exhaustion from increased demand for
insulin biosynthesis, associated with intracellular oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum
dysfunction, also has been implicated in beta cell apoptosis (McCance and Huether, 2010). Four
hormones/peptides influence the development of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. They are: glucagon,
amylin, incretins, and ghrelin. The primary function of glucagon is to increase blood glucose levels.
Glucagon stimulates both glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis, and does this in the liver (McCance
and Huether, 2010).

Edm On A Global Scale
EDM on a Global Scale
One of the benefits and reasons why people are so interested with EDM is that it is widely available
on the internet. YouTube channels, Facebook pages, websites, and every digital medium available is or
has been a location for popular EDM to be socially active with viewers. This allows songs to gain
prevalence in different areas of the world with out the geographic locations impeding their connection.
Each geographic location also has their own cultural signature to EDM, influences usually point to
past cultural movements or famous music that came out of the area. For example Avicii, a Swedish
electronic musician, DJ, and producer, created a song, Malo which contained Spanish lyrics and
created a large listener base that was in the country of Spain. EDM has the ability to be produced with
an audience in mind. This is mainly because artists have the means of customizing a sound or song for
a group of people just by recreating the ideas and music of movements within that geographical
location. By using similar sounds and rhythms, EDM artists are able to capture the true nature of a
country s signature. EDM is a global and social community that is unlike a music genre ever seen
before. Almost instantaneously, people of world can find and listen to exactly what EDM they want to
hear. People can communicate to each other about the music and share the ideas of the art in a quick
and boundless fashion. While remixing has been around for decades, the term

Themes Of Memento Mori
literature around this time revolve mostly around lyric poems and plays to let people express their
feelings. One of the themes that you often occur in lyrical poems and plays is memento mori.
Memento mori means remember the dead (pg.162). This saying was created because of the massive
amount of death that happens around this time, such as the black death and constant battles. Not only
does the saying apply to death in battle, but it also applies to those who have not excepted Christ and
follow his rules shall receive hell. The
Europeans who live in the medieval era were very religious and believe in Jesus Christ and
Virgin Mary. For examples, stories like the Everyman and Ubi Sunt Qui ante Nos Fuerunt are often
read in musical rhythm and their topics often explore romantic feelings
(vocabulary.com). In the Medieval era, the major theme in stories that are used constantly is memento
mori, to helps teach and express a lesson in plays, lyrical poems, and about the belief of the Europeans
in the 15th century.
In addition, the use of memento mori is mostly used in plays, normally to leave a great impact at the
end to give the audience something to remember and learn some sort of lesson.
For example, a popular play that was performed at the time was Everyman. Everyman s plot was to let
everyone know that time waits for no man and if your heart is not purified and clean enough for God,
then he or she will spend entirety in hell when death reaches them. We see
this when death

Characteristics Of The Amazon Rainforest
Its unique environment and biodiversity
The Amazon River Basin is named as one of the 7 wonders of nature. It covers nearly 2,700,000
square miles. There are eight countries that fall within the border of the Amazon River Basin; they are
Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Suriname, and Guiana. The Amazon rainforest covers
2,100,000 of those miles. To give you a greater sense of the size, the rainforest is about the size of the
United States. It is estimated to have 16,000 tree species and 30 percent of the world s species found
there, and over 90% of the animal species in the Amazon are insects. The Amazon rainforest is one of
Earth s last refuges for jaguars, harpy eagles and pink dolphins, and home to thousands of birds and
butterflies. Tree dwelling species include southern two toed sloths, pygmy marmosets, saddleback and
emperor tamarins, and Goeldi s monkeys. (World Wildlife Fund. n.d.) We do know there are 40,000
plant species, and 3,000 freshwater fish species and more than 370 types of reptiles. But people live
there too, it s estimated that 20 million people live in the rainforest. (World Wildlife Fund. n.d.)
Its importance to humans
The Amazon rainforest, which is also referred to as a natural sink is a major warrior in the war on
global warming. While humans are burning fossil fuels and using gas, oil and coal carbon dioxide is
pouring into the atmosphere. Trees naturally absorb carbon dioxide use it for photosynthesis, then
release clean oxygen. (Oskin, B. 2014, March 20) Then you have the Amazon river that meanders
through the rainforest teeming with life and home to some of the biggest fish in the world. It s a main
route of transportation for food and supplies to towns and villages. Twenty percent of the world s
water comes from the Amazon river. (Amazonaid. 2017, August 14)
Examples of how human activities affect the rainforest and how this, in turn, can impact humans
The greatest cause of destruction to the Amazon rainforest is humans. Whether we have good
intentions or not the Amazon is in need of saving. Currently the Amazon River and its banks and
channels are being mined for gold and other precious metals. Extraction methods are seemingly
barbaric, blasting

A Comprehensive Psychological Assessment At Bradfield...
Julie Coldwell, aged 25, has been referred by her General Practitioner to myself at Bradfield Hospital
Mental Health Unit, where I work as a Clinical Psychologist, due to concerns about her physical and
mental health from her job. Ms Coldwell is a trainee manager in a supermarket. Recently she has felt
that work is taking a toll on her, and hasn t been feeling herself. She has reported symptoms of
extreme fatigue whilst working, and has made mention of difficulty sleeping. She worries about being
fired due to her poor performance at work, which she says has become progressively worse over time.
Ms Coldwell is concerned that her work colleagues are judging her due to her performance and
discussing it when she is not present. Consequently, she is finding it very difficult to go to work. Ms
Coldwell has given informed consent to complete a comprehensive psychological assessment in order
to determine a diagnosis and treatment. Key considerations to be addressed are her sleeping
difficulties, fatigue, worries of how others evaluate her, and her reluctance to work. As limited
information has been issued, additional background information is required to complete a
comprehensive psychological assessment. This includes a request to her General Practitioner for her
medical history, as well as relevant personal history (brief description of her childhood, adolescence
and adulthood, relationships with others, family, educational and work history, any history of
substance use, and

Figurative Language In James Baldwin s If Beale Street...
Analysis Essay If Beale Street Could Talk, by James Baldwin, is a story about a man who has been
falsely accused of a crime, simply because he does as doesn t conform to the white society s
expectations of him. As Hans F. Hanson says, It takes nothing to join the crowd. It takes everything to
stand alone. By putting Fonny, one of the story s main protagonists, in the position where he has to
defy the expected standards of society, Baldwin is able to achieve his purpose of creating an honest
but brutal story that displays his character s courage to not accept life s circumstances and join the
crowd, and instead carve his own path for his life, which results in many troubles that Fonny is forced
to endure as he gives everything he has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We know from Baldwin s last chapter Zion that over the last nine months, Fonny has been stuck in jail
and his outlook has changed incredibly over that time, as he tells Tish that he s beginning to see things
that he s never seen before, and that he doesn t have any words for those things, and that he s scared.
(Baldwin, 182) Had Baldwin chosen to put the story in Fonny s point of view, the plot could ve been
more dramatic as it focused on how Fonny was changing during his life in jail, but instead Baldwin
put the story in Tish s point of view, which ultimately ended up serving his purpose of showing the
effects the cruel and condoning world had on them, despite the fact that Tish wasn t the one being
convicted of a crime. Placing the story in third person would also have worked nicely for this story,
but in the end it wouldn t have ended up serving Baldwin s purpose. There are many instances where,
had the story been narrated by an unnamed narrator, it would have lost it s sense of intimacy and
therefore wouldn t have been nearly as effective as it was. Through the duration of Tish s pregnancy,
we are able to see the inner workings of Tish s mind and sense her connection to her baby. So,
ultimately, by put the story in Fonny s or third person point of

Human Diversity Issues In Social Work
There are several issues related to issues of human diversity that have influenced the development of
my interest in social work. As I take a look around my community and what is occurring in the world I
notice the different cultures, environments, and lack of humanity. I took an interest in these three
categories and learned there are recurring issues within each. There is a lack of cultural competency in
the society. Different cultures do not interact effectively with one another as much as they should. A
person may interact differently with a certain culture once they are forced or need to. For example, a
person may only interact with a person from a different culture for work purposes or attending a
certain event. Majority of people (cultures) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Due To Its Proximity To The Equator, Vanuatu’S Climate
Due to its proximity to the equator, Vanuatu s climate can be simplified into two distinct seasons, the
cold dry season, and the hot wet season (Vanuatu Meteorological Services, 2017). Occurring between
November and April, the wet season is characterised by the increased likelihood of cyclones, with
floods, storms, and strong winds being commonplace. In addition to Vanuatu s location, the warming
El Niño phase of the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) means Vanuatu experiences drier annual
conditions, a cooler dry season, and a delayed wet season (Pacific Climate Change Science, 2011).
Increased temperature ranges and annual rainfall correlate with a decrease in storms and cyclones.
However, their intensity has noticeably increased, with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means there are not many workers in Vanuatu with the skills required to construct complex
design. Education is quite low as the attendance rate for secondary school males from 2008 2012 was
only 37.5% and for females only 35.6% (Statistics, 2017). Due to the harsh road conditions in Vanuatu
(Country Reports, n.d.), the size of the finished design may present transportation difficulties if the
complete design was is transported to the rural community. If it does arrive, it is not guaranteed that it
will remain in a useful condition and may need to be repaired and each additional cost will need to be
paid by the local community. 4.2.2 Criteria The design must be able to be constructed easily because
there are few skilled workers especially in rural area. Also, the design should be constructed locally as
this can give the local community a better understanding of the design and may help them understand
the maintenance work. The maintenance work should also be understandable to the locals as acquiring
skilled workers from urban regions or overseas will be an extra cost to the local
community.Maintenance procedure should be as simple as possible and is able to be carried out by the
local community. In addition, the local community would like to have access to the spare parts or its
substitute of the design locally. If there is no substitute to the spare part or the spare part itself

Nuclear Fission Essay
Introduction
In 1939, the discovery of nuclear fission unlocked the potential of an entirely different source of
power. The utilization of internal energy contained in the atomic nucleus has provided a major
solution to present and future power source needs by turning away from fossil fuels such as coal, oil
and natural gas and currently encompass three fourth of world s energy requirements to cleaner
alternatives such as nuclear power and renewables.
The objective of this paper is provide a comparison of the current types of nuclear reactors such as
burners and breeder reactors. The analysis will encompass a review of economic (LCOE),
environmental (LCA) and technological challenges for both technologies. Further, benefits and
detriments associated with each form of technology will be included to provide some further ... Show

What is Nuclear Fission?
Nuclear Fission is the main process by which humans are able to generate energy from the nucleus of
atoms. In order to discuss the nuclear fission process the role of the neutron must be examined. The
collision of a neutron in motion with a fissionable nucleus an essential pre condition that creates the
nuclear fission process. In order for fission to occur a neutron of the requisite energy must collide into,
and merge with a fissionable nucleus to create a new compound nucleus. The formation of the new
compound nucleus, in the case of Uranium 238, can be described by the following nuclear reaction: U
238 + n U 239. In situations where nuclear fission successfully occurs new nuclei are created from the
remnants of the old nuclei. The velocity or energy of the colliding neutron is a significant factor in the
fission process. Nuclear fission can occur after a heavy nuclei captures a neutron. The low energy
neutrons which are slow or thermal can result in the fission of isotopes of Plutonium and Uranium
whose nuclei have an odd number of

Pros And Cons Of Ad Hoc Routing Protocols
WIRELESS AD HOC ROUTING PROTOCOLS
Raghav Thirani , Monica Chandil
ABSTRACT: An ad hoc network is a collection of nodes which are dynamically located in such a
manner that their inter connections might change on continual basis. A routing protocol is required, to
facilitate communication inside the network by discovering routes between the nodes. This research
paper classifies various protocols and provides an overview about eight different protocols under
varied categories.
1. INTRODUCTON:
Since their emergence, wireless networks have become increasingly popular. There are currently two
kinds of wireless networks in use, namely WLAN s and Ad Hoc. WLAN s are called infrastructure
networks as they have fixed and wired gateways, whereas Ad hoc are called infrastructure less
networks as they don t have any fixed routers, all nodes in this are capable of movement and can be

It starts by throwing light on Table Driven or Proactive routing protocols, then moving forward to On
demand or Reactive routing protocols. It further discusses about Hybrid routing protocols which are a
mixture of the previous two. We end the discussion on these routing protocols by introducing the
Hierarchical routing protocols.
2. TABLE DRIVEN PROTOCOLS
Table driven routing protocols are also called as proactive routing protocols. They try to maintain the
consistent, up to date routing information from each node to every other node in the network[1].
Nodes respond to network topology changes by propagating route updates throughout the network.[1]
in this paper we discuss three proactive routng protocols namely: Optimised Link State Routing
protocol(OLSR) , Destination Sequenced Distance Vector Routing(DSDV) and Wireless routing
protocol (WRP).
2.1 DSDV:
In this routing protocol, every node maintains a routing table which has got entries of all the possible
destination nodes and the number of hops to each of

My Experience With A Child

My mother never lets me forget the number of times she had to free my fingers from the holes of
shopping carts because I was curious if they would fit. As I got older and a bit more independent, I

I was offered an internship through the Massachusetts Life Science Center and was placed at Pressure

because of the blossoming biomedical engineering research centers. During my time at PBI, I worked
to improve both the yield and quality of the protein extracted from Formalin Fixed Paraffin Embedded

running RC DC (reducing agent and detergent compatible) protein assays. I also gained experience
working independently on research projects. This internship introduced me to the life of an
independent research scientist and motivated me to pursue a career in research. The most impactful
aspect of this internship, however, was the fact that it forced me to abandon my life science based
comfort zone, and start to think and research as an engineer. I became familiar with the high pressure

Driverless Vehicles
An addition to the world of technology is the introduction of driverless vehicles. Many companies
including Google, Audi, BMW and Mercedes are investing in this project. The idea of a vehicle
driving itself has been of great interest to companies and manufacturers all over the world are using
technology to build and test such vehicles. Governments around the world are on board with this
venture and they are reviewing the Highway Code, legal frameworks and legislative changes to

their levels of concentration are good and if they represent any risks (Department for transport, 2015).
However, many questions arise about how these tests will take place, how will humans be monitored
on their concentration abilities. What will happen in the case of failing such tests? How will the roads

Rosencrantz Exile
When one is exiled from home, it is a terrifying, lonely experience. When two are exiled from home, it

Their home is their experience with and understanding of the world around them. Yet, they are exiled

consequences of this. Exile is an enriching experience for them, helping them learn more about the
world. On the other hand, exile is alienating, and it takes away their ability to distinguish reality and
their sense of control. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern repeatedly experience one truth: those that have
not experienced exile cannot truly understand its consequences. In the first scene of the play, the

Introduction of Antarctic Krill
1. Introduction of Antarctic Krill
Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) is one of the most abundant organisms in southern ocean, with a
total biomass of hundreds millions of tons. It is a cold water species and they mainly feed on marine
algae. Their lifespan is five to six years and they can grow up to six centimeters long. Atlantic krill
start life as eggs that sink and hatch in spring. They develop though Nauplius, Metanauplius,
Calyptopis stages and reach the fourth stage furcilia by winter. Antarctic krill that hatch at the depth of
shallow Antarctic shelf (300 400 meters) can swim back to the surface water before winter. Therefore,
furcilia are able to survive the first winter by feeding on algae and a small portion of zooplankton on
the undersurface of pack ice before using up their stored supplies. Antarctic krill that hatch in water
deeper than 500 meters may starve before they are able to swim back to the surface and find food to
feed on.
Antarctic krill play a crucial role within the southern ocean food web. They feed primarily on
phytoplankton, especially small diatoms. They also feed on a lesser extent zooplankton, such as
copepods, amphipods and other small zooplankton. Living near the bottom of food chains and
converting the phytoplankton and zooplankton to a form suitable for larger animals, including fish,
penguins, seals and wales, they have been considered as an important trophic level connection. Other
popular organisms are not preferred food source

Modern Day Zeppelins Or Airships
Have you ever seen a modern day zeppelin or more commonly known as airships? Probably not.
Zeppelins were once very popular. People all over the world wanted to fly on them, until the well
known zeppelin called the Hindenburg went up in flames. Today, there are companies that are trying
to bring back the airships that are safer for the world to use. There are many reasons that zeppelins or
airships could be very popular again. One reason they could be popular again is because they are safe
and good fro the environment. Modern day airships would use helium, a nonflammable gas, instead of
Hydrogen, the very flammable hydrogen. Helium is environment friendly, unlike hydrogen, which
was used in the 1930 s zeppelins. That is how the Hindenburg

Self Schema
David Goodall, 102yo Scientist, Told to Leave Edith Cowan University Post (Chapter 4)
The article demonstrates the concept of self schema through Tory Higgin s self discrepancy theory.
This is through the three types of self schema demonstrated by Goddall, who is being asked to leave
his position at the University. Firstly, there is the issue of the actual self which according to Higgins
would refer an accurate perspective on the individual. It is critical to understand that Goddall is 102
years old and that staff and students have concerns about his ability to work safely. The second type of
self schema shown is the ideal self. Goddall wishes to continue working on campus as he enjoys being
a member of the community. The third aspect of Higgin s theory highlighted is the ought self as
Goddall believes he should not be working from home and instead be in an alternative space, such as
an office.

My First Lab Procedure
Our second attempt today was successful and better today than the first attempt because we were able
to prove the law of conservation of mass on the second try. During the second attempt, we were
already aware of the mistakes we executed. Therefore, this helped us to avoid repeating the same
mistakes and draft another procedure while taking in consideration the first attempt of experiment we
had performed previously. Our procedure were also more structured and organized since we already
had an idea of how to conserve the gas, which is carbon dioxide, that accumulated due to the chemical
reaction brought by combining baking soda and vinegar. After watching the video, we realized that our

Deregulation Of Energy Essay
The United States is in the middle of one of the biggest wealth transfers of wealth it has ever seen
since the deregulation of long distance calling. This shift in wealth is seen in the deregulation of
energy. What is energy? Energy can be described multiple ways but for the purposes of deregulation,
energy is defined as power that is transferred from the environment and converted into electricity and
gas to be used for electricity and heating. How does it work? Local utility companies own the grids
that bring power to buildings. Prior to the new regulations, they would buy the gas and/or electricity
from a source that produces for an undisclosed price, provide the building energy, then charge the
responsible party for that energy. Considering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With deregulation, consumers are now allowed to pick who the utility company purchases energy
from. The utility company still owns the grids and still brings the energy to the building. The
consumer can now choose which company based on lowest price. Competition within any industry
drives prices down which means savings for the consumer and a more level playing field for up and
coming producers. How does this translate into wealth transferring? These unknown companies that
produce energy need help with marketing. A lot of them have positioned themselves with direct sales
companies to do this instead of spending large amounts of money on an advertisements and employees
specializing in sales. The direct sales associates will acquire customers for the companies and in
return, the companies pay a commission on the monthly bill from the consumer. The energy company
does not have to pay a salary to employees to make cold calls and go door to door. Payments are only
made after the sale. It s a win/win situation. The deregulation of energy in the United States is
beneficial to all who use it, which is everyone. Consumers get to save money. Utility companies are
kept honest. Smaller companies are able to broaden their customer base which maintain job stability.
Normal people, not just employees, are able to earn commission from acquiring customers for energy

The Work Of Henry Ford Made A Lasting Impact On America Essay
When Americans get into their vehicles every day to go to work or school, they do not normally think
about how much transportation has evolved over the years. People started out walking and then later
moved to horse and buggies. During the early 1800 s, railroads were being built from east to west in
this country and trains began to take over. As cities grew, people looked for ways to travel more
efficiently. The work of Henry Ford made a lasting impact on America in regards to both
transportation and manufacturing. Henry Ford was much like other children growing up. Ford was
born on July 30, 1863 in Dearborn, Michigan. He was raised on a farm and others could tell he would
be extremely successful in his future. In order to learn more about the engines and be more successful,
Henry Ford built friendships with the men who ran the full sized steam engines. He learned how to fix
watches in order to understand how machines worked. Ford was intrigued by machines and went the
extra mile to learn more about them. He was willing to risk it all just to pursue his dream and would
not let a bump in the road stop him. Henry Ford decided to take the risk of pursuing his dream of
machines when he left the family farm in 1879 to work at a car company in Michigan. He believed he
had more of an interest in machines than he did in farming, but his father thought differently. Ford s
father wanted him to follow his footsteps on the farm, but unfortunately, it did not turn out in his

Compare And Contrast The Nlb And The National Labor...
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), also
known as a Wagner Act of 1935, permit workers to create unions and choose representatives to
support their rights. The union representation and support are significant elements that protect workers
from illegal actions like discrimination and adverse employment actions. Many employees view job
security as a guarantee of work. The union safeguard employees and represent their rights during
layoffs, and other hard economic times. The idea to establish and support seniority was created based
on job protection and security. The ratio rank principle combines seniority lists by determining a ratio
based on the total number of workers. Many laws, such as a last hired, first fired, created to encourage

Analysis Of An Absolutely Ordinary Rainbow
For the Australian poet, Les Murray, a natural and peaceful life is, Driving Through Sawmill Towns,
and spending An Evening Alone At Bunyah a place without war or, The Burning Truck, that produces
Blood. The cycle of life for Murray means going home again from the cities of the world , where he
can find, An Absolutely Ordinary Rainbow, without changing the actual world. Similarly, the Irish
poet, Seamus Heaney, wants people to get rid of The Mud Vision and, figure in [their] own eyes for
the eyes of the world . He believes nature and labour are a balanced symmetry of life. The world
should be natural and peaceful where the Two Lorries, would never explode. Through their poems,
both Murray and Heaney stop the readers in their tracks and lead them into a new territory. Their
poems challenge the readers perceptions by using the four elements of seeing, hearing, feeling and
thinking to develop a theme of nature where they have desires for a truly natural and peaceful world.
Beneath Hill 60 Movie scenes, peaceful and quiet life compared with the life on the battle field.
(natural to artificial) it is a movie, just want the audience to make some connection.
What is the best lifestyle according to Murray? Murray stresses a need for peace, quiet and the
transformation from artificial to natural. He successfully wins the empathy from the reader and leads
them into a new territory through the senses of seeing and feeling in his poem, Evening Alone At
Bunyah. The ironic first line, home again from the cities of the world infers that people think the cities
make up the world; however, Murray shows the real world to be the places like Bunyah, where life is
otherworldly and has a consistent theme of the subtopic of nature (line 1). This positions the reader to
question whether they are enjoying their lives in the cities or not, because the artificial does not make
everyone feel the pleasure. The magic number four has been widely used in the Evening Along At
Bunyah, four perfect firs, four seasons, foursome reels and perhaps four dancers dancing around the
trees. These concepts compare with the four most important elements in the world water, earth, sky,

Cause And Effects Of Imperialism In China
In times of sorrow, regret, loss, and depression a movement must begin. Whether it s between you and
yourself or a nation of people. After the loss of people during the Great Depression, people and leaders
were forced to expand their economy in order to rebuild. Which became a revolution in itself, some
were faster and adapting to create a new government for themselves. Others went through challenging
times in order to create a sufficient government to last and stay true to their self s overtime. China was
slow to develop. Their system was independent in tradition and Confucius beliefs that didn t keep up
with the industrial age that was developing in other countries. The imperialistic era was not a
comforting era that conformed with independent nations. China experienced a lot of loss and rebellion
in order to re develop their nation during this time. However, Japan adapted quickly and took over
territories near and allied with other powerful nations to embark on their communistic revolution.
China had friendly relations but the reliance and trust was not beneficial. For a period of time during
imperialism, Great Britain allied with China for free trade regulations. China was in agreeance and
Britain traded Indian opium which caused drug addiction in China. China tried to stop the drug trade
and Britain came with force. The British used their victory to create the unequal treaty system, which

Problems Faced By Japanese Foreign Investments Relations...
This business study will define the problems in the United States due to Japanese investments. In the
current global economy, the foreign investments relations between the U.S. and Japan have been one
sided due to the inter Asian business models of the Japanese markets. Japan has traditionally been
cooperative with the United States in allowing its products to be manufactured and sold in the United
States, which has provided some manufacturing jobs in the U.S. This causes problems for the U.S.
because they are disadvantaged by one sided trade agreements that decrease job opportunities for
American workers, since the Japanese are increasingly moving their manufacturing plants into Asia.

This complex issue defines a major problem for job opportunities for the American economy due to
Japan s shift in foreign investment in the Unite States:
The Japanese will place more of their emphasis on investment in Asia, leaving less capital to finance
United States budget deficits or to buy up American companies or open new factories. Japanese
electronic goods and automobiles will not disappear from American shelves or showrooms, but
increasingly they will come from factories in Asia, rather than in Japan or the United States
(Sterngold, 2016, para.8).
In this manner, Japanese foreign investments will begin to shift away from the American
manufacturing sector to Asian labor markets. This is an important problem with Japanese foreign
investments that continue to seek out lower cost labor markets in order to avoid the higher costs in
America: That will mean less job creation in Ohio or Tennessee, as the Japanese start up fewer new
ventures in the United States (para.8). This is an important factor in the evolving foreign investment
strategies of Japan, which now threaten American job markets in the 2010s.
Historically japan had found the American consumer market to be an invaluable part of consumer
orientated foreign investments, which relied heavily on

Societal Issues Affecting African Americans
Set in the 1960 s, The Help, emphasizes the societal issues affecting African Americans in the past and
shows eerily similar parallels to our society today. The 1960 s consisted of a multitude of protests and
movements preaching civil disobedience and resistance. This attitude and behavior, led to the rise of
the Civil Rights Movement which is also a major aspect of the film. The Help, delivers a message that
stresses the dangers and paranoia that may be associated with a changing society that is focused on
retaining it s original values regardless of what may be occurring around them. Eventually change
does take charge and while acceptance is not immediate, slowly but steadily toleration does begin to
take root. Released in 2011, the film reflects the alterations in society but also displays the changes
that have yet to occur. The Help, showed the move forward and reluctant path to acceptance and
lenience. Many White individuals aided African Americans in their fight to gaining full civil rights
while others did not bother to hide their disapproval and continued to believe that African Americans
were inferior therefore did not deserve civil liberties. While as a society, we have come far, there
continue to be many aspects that have yet to change and African Americans continue to face
discrimination and inequality today. The film reveals the difficulties of bringing about change and
altering the mindsets of deepset individuals. The film is based upon the original novel,

Qichao Essay
Entering the twentieth century as a shell of its former self, the Qing Dynasty (Manchus) was moving
closer to its inevitable demise. A dominant force in the world for centuries, by the dawn of the
twentieth the Chinese Empire was divided into zones of influence by Imperialist Europe and had
suffered defeat at the hands of Meiji Japan in the First Sino Japanese War. The Chinese people,
increasingly angered, watched as their country was manipulated and coerced by their vanquishers.
From these international humiliations arose individuals who sought to radically transform the politics,
society and dynamics of China and to effectively bring her into the twentieth century and back to
international glory. Two of these influential men were Liang Qichao and Sun Yat sen, who, despite
differences in thought, created their political ideologies through the concept of nationalism. A member

mechanisms Addiction Reviews the strong relationship between bipolar and substance use disorder
Mechanisms and treatment implications Bipolar disorder and substance use disorders commonly occur
in the same individual. In fact, bipolar disorder has a higher prevalence of substance use disorders
than any other psychiatric illness. Individuals with both disorders have a more severe course of bipolar
disorder, including earlier onset, more frequent episodes, and more complications, including anxiety
and stress related disorders, aggressive behavior, legal problems, and suicide. Bipolar and substance
use disorders share common mechanisms, including impulsivity, poor modulation of motivation and
responses to rewarding stimuli, and susceptibility to behavioral sensitization. Studies of potential
treatments for bipolar substance use disorder have paid scant attention to the combined disorders. The
most promising treatment strategies are those that address their shared mechanisms. Keywords:

Mentoring For Senior Professional Field
Mentoring is an interregnal part of every professional field. Organizations that pursue future
improvement and development focus on mentoring by means of inviting internal and external
professionals to mentor junior members. Mentoring is a rather complex subject and often takes serious
preparation on the part of a mentor. Just being an experienced professional is not enough for becoming
a good mentor for juniors. Mentoring is a responsible activity, which requires high levels of patience,
professionalism, ethics, enthusiasm, tolerance and skills. Even though most of organizations mention
highly developed training programs, in practice mentoring is still a new territory for most of them and
often the professionals cannot properly explain what actually makes a good mentor and what efficient
mentoring should include.
The field of engineering is one of the professional spheres where young specialists are in high demand
since there is a growing skills shortage in this field. To be able to function effectively in the future,
engineering companies must take the issue of skills and professional scarcity seriously and improve
mentoring methods in order to prepare highly qualified workers for the future.
The word mentor comes from ancient Greek mythology, Mentor was the name of the teacher of
Odysseus s son (Miller 3). Today this word is used to refer to wise and reliable supervisors. First of
all, mentoring is based on a relationship between a mentor and a protégé. The success

The Development of Christianity in America
As Christianity spread through the Western world, it rarely followed a linear path: different pockets of
faith and doctrine were developed by a variety of peoples in an even greater variety of locales.
Nowhere is this more evident than in Roman Britain and the era of Anglo Saxon migrations. In five
centuries, English religious culture transformed from one of pagan worship to that of leadership in the
Christian world. Controversies included more than merely pagan Christian dynamics; the Christians
were greatly divided, and Christian efforts went through many ebbs before becoming firmly
established. One must evaluate the development of both Rome and England to gain an adequate

Christianity gained a foothold in Britain by the mid second century, but had yet to gain anything
approaching religious supremacy on the island. Early Christian churches were local communal affairs

refused to bow before Roman authority as the Jews had previously done, and many were persecuted as
enemies of the state (quite similar to the Druidic situation in Britain). Rome would tolerate native
religious rites, but would brook no treason. The universality of the empire, however, paved the way
for the universality of Christianity, as Christian missionaries traveled easily along Roman roads on
evangelistic expeditions. As Christianity spread throughout the empire, the Roman government found
Christian refusals to worship Roman gods and participate in Roman festivals increasingly distressing;
Christians endured persecution in the first and second centuries, but on an individualized, local scale.
The third century proved disastrous to the empire: an outbreak of the plague, increasing barbaric
invasions from the north, and fifty years of relentless civil war tarnished the image and reputation of
Rome. Manpower shortages due to plague sharply decreased trade and commerce. Persians

Functionalist Theory And Conflict Theory
Emily Harris Sociology 409 Exam #2 Group A FUNCTIONALISM AND CONFLICT THEORY
Functionalisms reign was dominant through earl 1950s through late 1960s. August Comte, Herbert
Spencer, and Emile Durkheim played important roles in the development of the theory. Talcott
Parsons, another important writer of the functionalist theory, attempted to develop concepts that would
help organize our perception of reality. He also developed a fourfold classification scheme, Adoption,
Goal attainment, interagation, and latency. Adaptation refers to the idea that systems are embedded in
environments to which they much adapt in order to survive. Goal attainment is described as the need
in any system to define its primary goal and the methods used to obtain the goal. Interagation refers to
the need to coordinate the component parts of the system so that they contribute to the maintenance of
the whole. Latency is described as the structures that serve to maintain and revitalize the motivation of
individuals to perform their roles according to social expectations (Farganis, 20111). Spencer
compared society to the telegraph, with wires running to and from the central nervous system and it
nerves, as well as a social organism. He viewed evolutionary schema based on social functions and
survival of the fittest, relating to simple and complex societies. Knigsley Davis and Wilbert E Moore

Summary Of Preface To God s Determinations By Edward Taylor
Numerous people have a theory about how the world was created. Some say it was evolution, and
others trust that it was the magnificent Lord that reigns above. In the poem, Preface to God s
Determinations, Edward Taylor exposes God s handiwork through his countless use of metaphors. By
comparing the immense land features to mediocre objects, he reveals the wonders God has shaped.
Taylor uses the word infinity to start the poem, this states that God is everlasting and has been since
the beginning of time. God created the world from nothing and shaped it to his liking. He single
handedly formed the world into what it is today.
The use of metaphors throughout the poem allows the audience to picture what God has made with
objects that we see today. This is evident when he states, Who in this Bowling Alley bowled the Sun?
Countless people have been bowling before, and Taylor compares the sun to a bowling ball being
hurled down the alley. With Rivers like green Ribbons Smaragdine? is another example that Taylor
uses. He compares the endless rivers to ribbons displaying an emerald green color. Taylor also

writing styles that help them interpret his intended themes the way they want to; however, he uses
different descriptions that give his readers a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One thing that Lewis wanted his readers to take from his writing was to know and understand that in
order to be virtuous, you must have God s grace (McGrath 4). Many themes from the bible are found
in the Chronicles of Narnia, but throughout The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the biggest
symbol of Christianity is Narnia s king, Aslan ( A Fairy Tale... 3). Although he is a lion, he represents
Christ in almost every way. Lewis chose to use a lion because the animal itself is said to be the king of
beasts and in the bible, Jesus is referred to as The Lion of Judah (Baehr 3). In comparison of Aslan to
Christ, it is noticeable that there are certain similarities in the way that they were both selfless leaders
of their lands. Christ s crucifixion was a big part of the novel because Aslan gave his life so that
Edmund, who had given into temptation, didn t have to; much like Christ gave his life for his people.
The next day, Aslan rose from the dead, brought his warriors back to life and defeated evil and created
a new Narnia. In the bible sense, that lines up the story of Christ s resurrection, his appearance to his
disciples, his defeat of evil and then his creation of the new heavens and the new earth ( Response:
The Seattle Pacific... 1). Although Aslan did not give his life for all as Christ did, the fact that he was
dying for an imperfect person was representative of Christ s assurance that he

Different Views On Politics, Religion, Or What s Best You...
Compare and Contrast two neighborhoods
Dewitt, a small town in eastern Iowa with roughly fifty five hundred people residing within its
borders. Most of the area around DeWitt is pretty similar, middle class families, white, and hard
working. There is country life all around the DeWitt area, and sub divisions like Timber Creek. These
two places resemble themselves, but for being so close carry quite a few differences. Both places are
rather nice compared to other places in DeWitt and in my mind a lot better than living in a crowded
and hectic city like Davenport or Clinton even. Different places bring different views on politics,
religion, or what s best to do on your free time. Iowa is definitely more similar throughout the state

Your average home would be nice sized at about 3,000 square feet with a basement. Including around
four bedrooms for all the kids to accommodate within its walls. Not to mention, the majority of the
home carry the very desirable attached garages for you people who are afraid of a little cold or rainy
weather. Focusing more on the people now however, like I said mostly younger families, with kids
around the ages of high school years. After talking to some people, the overall response is that they are
happy to live there, as it is kind of secluded in the trees and away from town a bit, but also you have
good quality neighbors around you. For activities in Timber Creek people of all ages have social
gatherings at someone s house and all the neighbors come over drink beer, play cards, or watch the
game on T.V. While down the road the kids go to another family s house and has their own gathering
there. Joel Kirby describes the people as friendly, respectful and fun people to live around and be a
part of. Addison Templeton on the other hand, commented I don t really care I d rather work the all
day everyday making some money for snowmobiling! Additionally, he added that it was peaceful and
relaxing especially knowing that your neighbor wasn t a dummy. Landon Muhl on the other hand
shockingly responded with, I wouldn t mind trying a different place to live. Furthering questioning the

The Dangers of Smokeless Tobacco Essay
Through with Chew
Using smokeless tobacco does not require inhaling smoke into the lungs, so therefore it is completely
safer than smoking cigarette, right? Wrong. Unfortunately, smokeless and harmless are not
interchangeable terms; as a matter of fact, there is absolutely no such thing as smokeless tobacco.
Smokeless tobacco products come in many different shapes and forms, such as dip, chew, and snuff.
These types of products allow users to get a kick of nicotine without having to inhale the smoke of
cigarettes, so it is not surprising why they re so popular. Most users are unaware of it, but these
products can be just as unsafe, if not even more dangerous, than cigarettes in an abundance of ways.
This misunderstanding causes many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sugar is added to enhance the flavor of smokeless tobacco, increasing the risk for tooth decay ( It May
Be Smokeless 2). The sugar found in smokeless tobacco chemically reacts with the bacteria naturally
found on teeth, causing them to slowly decay. Other very common traits that smokeless tobacco users
have are bad breath, tooth discoloration, and sensitive teeth; all of these effects are very common in
abusive users and can be permanent if not cared for.
Also, the main reason these smokeless tobacco products are so dangerous is because of the all the
hazardous chemicals found inside them, such as nicotine. Nicotine is a chemical found in all tobacco
products that has many health effects on the human body. The difference between cigarette users, who
inhale nicotine containing smoke into the lungs, and smokeless users is that they absorb the chemicals
through their oral cavities, getting nicotine to eventually travel into their bloodstreams. (Julie 1). As a
matter of fact, users [of smokeless tobacco] generally absorb more nicotine from smokeless tobacco
products than from cigarettes (Julie 2). If more people were aware of this fact, they would definitely
think twice before chewing/dipping again. When individuals buy any smokeless tobacco product on
the market, they are also unknowingly purchasing the many deadly chemicals that come with it.
Furthermore, smokeless tobacco products are critically harmful

The Pros And Cons Of Nationalism In The 19th Century
Nationalism is a sense of loyalty to one s nation. Nationalism has the power to unify or
divide a whole country, and did so to numerous countries in Europe. The idea of nationalism had
not become known until the 19th century, because in the 19th century modern transportation was
used more commonly and people of different cultures came in correspondence with each other
more frequently. Nationalism appeared in places with a strong central government such as The
Roman Empire and the dynasties in China. However, it first emerged in Europe because Europe
industrialized first and The French Revolution caused a great sense of nationality under the rule
of Napoleon. Although, nationalism did come with its pro s and con s. The concept ... Show more

Peter Stolypin improved education, initiated moderate
land reforms for the peasant farmers, and made many other reforms. The Russian citizen s needs
were still not met so in return, Stolypin was assassinated. The Duma now only had limited
power. Russia was still autocracy until 1914 and little to few changes were made by attempts to
reform due to a lack of nationalism in the country.
In conclusion, nationalism is a key factor for a nation to come together. Nationalism in
Germany and Italy allowed for them to become unified states. However, Russia was not able to
become a unified state because its leaders never satisfied the needs of the Russian citizens, didn t
industrialize as quickly as the other states, and never gave the people of Russia a reason to have
pride in their country. The leaders of Russia made the mistake of ignoring the power of
nationalism. In Russia, Germany, and Italy you can truly see the effects of having or not having

The Effects Of Make Up And Body Image
This persuasive essay is going to be on the effects of using, and problems with make up and body
image on teenagers. These affect teenager s self esteem and make the teens have a vision of being
perfect in every way. Most teens now have a vision of the body image that models and celebrity
induce and some teenagers think if they are anything less than these front cover models they are ugly.
One website explains body image as Body image is how you view your physical self including
whether you feel you are attractive and whether others like your looks. When people feel their body is
ugly or that they are too short or that they don t look like an Instagram model it makes us feel
valueless or weird. The words we should be using are unique or beautiful; we are all different and
aiming to be the same as someone else isn t right. One of the main problems with make up is that most
teenagers use make up to hide their acne and spots but over time this can increase amount of spots
meaning more make up is used and a chain reaction occurs. Make up is also quite expensive and can
be used up very quickly. Make up is mostly used to improve someone s looks because they are self
conscious and I think it s good that people feel more confident while wearing make up but you should
be able to accept the way you look and feel great about yourself. If everyone just gave a compliment a
day no one would feel ugly and we wouldn t have standards or this image of how we could look better.

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Blue Collar Work Why is it that blue collar work is looked down on compared to white collar work? There is equal value in work between the two types of jobs. Blue collar workers are working twice as hard as white collar workers. They are having to use their hands and their brain to succeed at what they do. Blue collar workers are not uneducated, they have to be smart to do their job. Also, without blue collar workers, white collar work would not even exist. A common misconception is that blue collar workers are not as educated as white collar workers. This is simply untrue, these jobs require workers to be able to work smart. These workers are not only having to use their hands, but also their brain. In the article, the author talks about what he has seen at a diner where his mother worked. He notices how the waitress would watch the room and note who needed a refill, whose order was taking long, and who was finishing up. It states in the article that She would ... According to the article, many assume that intelligence is closely related to education; meaning the type of education, how much, and how long. Some blue collar jobs do require less education, but the workers are still extremely skilled at what they do. These workers have to be precise and get their jobs done the right way every time. If all blue collar workers were undereducated, they would not be able to handle this type of work. There is equal value in blue collar work and white collar work. Not one type of work is better than the other in the term of value . Blue collar work may not be as glamorous, but it does not mean it should not be respected. Both types of work require skill, smartwork, and some form of education. No matter if you are working behind a desk, or at a factory; a job is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Public Relations Tactics for New Balance 1. The case reports on New Balance s strengths and weaknesses in terms of CSR. If you headed public relations for the company, what PR tactics (aside from the CSR Report) would you undertake to promote New Balance s many good deeds and practices? New Balance (NB) had some great deeds and practices to flaunt on, specifically in the four categories of overall governance, community support, operations and products and services. New Balance was also an industry leader in many of the initiatives they took and were ranked fourth largest footwear brand in the world. (2010, Dr. Veleva.V. New Balance Developing an Integrated CSR strategy. Page 14.) However, they have been rather shy/reluctant about talking about their various initiatives they have implemented. In fact, their employees were also not completely aware of what the organization was doing from a CSR standpoint. If I headed public relations for the company, I would use tactics and strategies that targeted both internally and externally to promote the various good deeds/doings of the company. I have explained on them below: Internal: First, I would target our employees, as I believe employees to be spokespeople for the company. Imparting the good deeds of the CSR doings would boost employee morale, engage or be part of the deeds and they would like to talk about it, as they are feeling good about themselves and the company. Some of the tactics I would use for communication are: Creating an internal blog/forum to help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Condom Use A Method Of Birth Control Condom Use a Method of Birth Control Introduction The purpose of this instrument is to evaluate a health belief model based on condom use intervention targeting undergraduate students. Research studies have been done to measure the number of people who use condoms as a form of contraception (Moore Melkote, 2009). Research studies show condom use and other prevention methods can reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STD), and protect against pregnancy (Moore Melkote, 2009). HIV/AIDS Risk among College Students in the United States was a study similar to the instrument survey I created. The study focused on the correlation between condom use and the use of other forms of birth control at last intercourse (Moore Melkote, 2009). Research data showed that the women used condoms to prevent pregnancy during intercourse (Moore Melkote, 2009). The audience for my instrument consists of African American college women and men involved in heterosexual relationships in an undergraduate program, attending a public university in the United States. Adults in college are subject to catching STD s, and HIV through unprotected sex (Moore Melkote, 2009). The health behavior theory used in this instrument is the health belief model. The health belief model: Perceived Susceptibility, Perceived Severity, Perceived Benefits, Perceived Barriers, Cues to Action, Self Efficacy (Bandura, 2001). • 7. Our patient was admitted to the ICU with respiratory... Our patient was admitted to the ICU with respiratory distress. Respiratory distress is caused by an inflammation due to neutrophil activation. The body has an inability to transfer oxygen or carbon dioxide. This leads to increased permeability of A C membrane, which then causes edema. Because of the edema, there is an increase in fluid in the peripheral areas and edema in hands, feet, and the scrotum. Decreased gas exchange also occurs because of the edema and mechanical ventilation is then implemented. The ventilator settings for our patient were: Rate 15, Peep 12, Peak Flow 60, FiO2 95, Flow Trig 1. Two mechanisms, insulin resistance and decreased insulin secretion, are vital functions that lead to the development of Type 2 Diabetes. Insulin resistance is the effect that insulin has on insulin sensitive tissues and their response to the insulin (McCance and Huether, 2010). Abnormality of the insulin molecule, high amounts of insulin antagonists, down regulation of the insulin receptors, decreased/abnormal activation of postreceptor kinases, and alteration of glucose transporter proteins all lead to defects of the insulin molecule itself (McCance and Huether, 2010). Because the patient is obese, he is at risk for hyperinsulinemia and decreased insulin receptor density. When compensatory hyperinsulinemia occurs, the client may not begin to see the manifestations of Type 2 Diabetes for several years (McCance and Huether, 2010). Beta cells eventually undergo an apoptotic cell death. Beta cell exhaustion from increased demand for insulin biosynthesis, associated with intracellular oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum dysfunction, also has been implicated in beta cell apoptosis (McCance and Huether, 2010). Four hormones/peptides influence the development of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. They are: glucagon, amylin, incretins, and ghrelin. The primary function of glucagon is to increase blood glucose levels. Glucagon stimulates both glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis, and does this in the liver (McCance and Huether, 2010). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Edm On A Global Scale EDM on a Global Scale One of the benefits and reasons why people are so interested with EDM is that it is widely available on the internet. YouTube channels, Facebook pages, websites, and every digital medium available is or has been a location for popular EDM to be socially active with viewers. This allows songs to gain prevalence in different areas of the world with out the geographic locations impeding their connection. Each geographic location also has their own cultural signature to EDM, influences usually point to past cultural movements or famous music that came out of the area. For example Avicii, a Swedish electronic musician, DJ, and producer, created a song, Malo which contained Spanish lyrics and created a large listener base that was in the country of Spain. EDM has the ability to be produced with an audience in mind. This is mainly because artists have the means of customizing a sound or song for a group of people just by recreating the ideas and music of movements within that geographical location. By using similar sounds and rhythms, EDM artists are able to capture the true nature of a country s signature. EDM is a global and social community that is unlike a music genre ever seen before. Almost instantaneously, people of world can find and listen to exactly what EDM they want to hear. • 9. Themes Of Memento Mori literature around this time revolve mostly around lyric poems and plays to let people express their feelings. One of the themes that you often occur in lyrical poems and plays is memento mori. Memento mori means remember the dead (pg.162). This saying was created because of the massive amount of death that happens around this time, such as the black death and constant battles. Not only does the saying apply to death in battle, but it also applies to those who have not excepted Christ and follow his rules shall receive hell. The Europeans who live in the medieval era were very religious and believe in Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary. For examples, stories like the Everyman and Ubi Sunt Qui ante Nos Fuerunt are often read in musical rhythm and their topics often explore romantic feelings (vocabulary.com). In the Medieval era, the major theme in stories that are used constantly is memento mori, to helps teach and express a lesson in plays, lyrical poems, and about the belief of the Europeans in the 15th century. In addition, the use of memento mori is mostly used in plays, normally to leave a great impact at the end to give the audience something to remember and learn some sort of lesson. For example, a popular play that was performed at the time was Everyman. Everyman s plot was to let everyone know that time waits for no man and if your heart is not purified and clean enough for God, then he or she will spend entirety in hell when death reaches them. • 10. Characteristics Of The Amazon Rainforest Its unique environment and biodiversity The Amazon River Basin is named as one of the 7 wonders of nature. It covers nearly 2,700,000 square miles. There are eight countries that fall within the border of the Amazon River Basin; they are Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Suriname, and Guiana. The Amazon rainforest covers 2,100,000 of those miles. To give you a greater sense of the size, the rainforest is about the size of the United States. It is estimated to have 16,000 tree species and 30 percent of the world s species found there, and over 90% of the animal species in the Amazon are insects. The Amazon rainforest is one of Earth s last refuges for jaguars, harpy eagles and pink dolphins, and home to thousands of birds and butterflies. Tree dwelling species include southern two toed sloths, pygmy marmosets, saddleback and emperor tamarins, and Goeldi s monkeys. (World Wildlife Fund. n.d.) We do know there are 40,000 plant species, and 3,000 freshwater fish species and more than 370 types of reptiles. But people live there too, it s estimated that 20 million people live in the rainforest. (World Wildlife Fund. n.d.) Its importance to humans The Amazon rainforest, which is also referred to as a natural sink is a major warrior in the war on global warming. While humans are burning fossil fuels and using gas, oil and coal carbon dioxide is pouring into the atmosphere. Trees naturally absorb carbon dioxide use it for photosynthesis, then release clean oxygen. (Oskin, B. 2014, March 20) Then you have the Amazon river that meanders through the rainforest teeming with life and home to some of the biggest fish in the world. It s a main route of transportation for food and supplies to towns and villages. Twenty percent of the world s water comes from the Amazon river. (Amazonaid. 2017, August 14) Examples of how human activities affect the rainforest and how this, in turn, can impact humans The greatest cause of destruction to the Amazon rainforest is humans. Julie Coldwell, aged 25, has been referred by her General Practitioner to myself at Bradfield Hospital Mental Health Unit, where I work as a Clinical Psychologist, due to concerns about her physical and mental health from her job. Ms Coldwell is a trainee manager in a supermarket. Recently she has felt that work is taking a toll on her, and hasn t been feeling herself. She has reported symptoms of extreme fatigue whilst working, and has made mention of difficulty sleeping. She worries about being fired due to her poor performance at work, which she says has become progressively worse over time. Ms Coldwell is concerned that her work colleagues are judging her due to her performance and discussing it when she is not present. Consequently, she is finding it very difficult to go to work. Ms Coldwell has given informed consent to complete a comprehensive psychological assessment in order to determine a diagnosis and treatment. Key considerations to be addressed are her sleeping difficulties, fatigue, worries of how others evaluate her, and her reluctance to work. As limited information has been issued, additional background information is required to complete a comprehensive psychological assessment. As Hans F. Hanson says, It takes nothing to join the crowd. It takes everything to stand alone. By putting Fonny, one of the story s main protagonists, in the position where he has to defy the expected standards of society, Baldwin is able to achieve his purpose of creating an honest but brutal story that displays his character s courage to not accept life s circumstances and join the crowd, and instead carve his own path for his life, which results in many troubles that Fonny is forced to endure as he gives everything he has ... (Baldwin, 182) Had Baldwin chosen to put the story in Fonny s point of view, the plot could ve been more dramatic as it focused on how Fonny was changing during his life in jail, but instead Baldwin put the story in Tish s point of view, which ultimately ended up serving his purpose of showing the effects the cruel and condoning world had on them, despite the fact that Tish wasn t the one being convicted of a crime. Placing the story in third person would also have worked nicely for this story, but in the end it wouldn t have ended up serving Baldwin s purpose. There are many instances where, had the story been narrated by an unnamed narrator, it would have lost it s sense of intimacy and therefore wouldn t have been nearly as effective as it was. Nuclear Fission is the main process by which humans are able to generate energy from the nucleus of atoms. In order to discuss the nuclear fission process the role of the neutron must be examined. The collision of a neutron in motion with a fissionable nucleus an essential pre condition that creates the nuclear fission process. In order for fission to occur a neutron of the requisite energy must collide into, and merge with a fissionable nucleus to create a new compound nucleus. The formation of the new compound nucleus, in the case of Uranium 238, can be described by the following nuclear reaction: U 238 + n U 239. In situations where nuclear fission successfully occurs new nuclei are created from the remnants of the old nuclei. The velocity or energy of the colliding neutron is a significant factor in the fission process. Nuclear fission can occur after a heavy nuclei captures a neutron. The low energy neutrons which are slow or thermal can result in the fission of isotopes of Plutonium and Uranium whose nuclei have an odd number of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This research paper classifies various protocols and provides an overview about eight different protocols under varied categories. 1. INTRODUCTON: Since their emergence, wireless networks have become increasingly popular. There are currently two kinds of wireless networks in use, namely WLAN s and Ad Hoc. It is suggested that manufactures of driverless vehicles monitor the performance of test drivers and see if their levels of concentration are good and if they represent any risks (Department for transport, 2015). However, many questions arise about how these tests will take place, how will humans be monitored on their concentration abilities. What will happen in the case of failing such tests? Rosencrantz and Guildenstern do not have a specific place they call home in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. If they did, they probably would not remember it. Their home is their experience with and understanding of the world around them. Yet, they are exiled from this home. They are never fully able to understand the world around them and have to face the consequences of this. Exile is an enriching experience for them, helping them learn more about the world. On the other hand, exile is alienating, and it takes away their ability to distinguish reality and their sense of control. • 20. Introduction of Antarctic Krill 1. Introduction of Antarctic Krill Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) is one of the most abundant organisms in southern ocean, with a total biomass of hundreds millions of tons. It is a cold water species and they mainly feed on marine algae. Their lifespan is five to six years and they can grow up to six centimeters long. Atlantic krill start life as eggs that sink and hatch in spring. They develop though Nauplius, Metanauplius, Calyptopis stages and reach the fourth stage furcilia by winter. Antarctic krill that hatch at the depth of shallow Antarctic shelf (300 400 meters) can swim back to the surface water before winter. Therefore, furcilia are able to survive the first winter by feeding on algae and a small portion of zooplankton on the undersurface of pack ice before using up their stored supplies. Antarctic krill that hatch in water deeper than 500 meters may starve before they are able to swim back to the surface and find food to feed on. Antarctic krill play a crucial role within the southern ocean food web. They feed primarily on phytoplankton, especially small diatoms. They also feed on a lesser extent zooplankton, such as copepods, amphipods and other small zooplankton. The Chronicles Of Narni The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is about four children discovering an alternate universe and attempting to defeat evil (the White Witch) with the help of the Christ like figure, Aslan. The time of the book is set during World War II in England. The four Pevensie children, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy go to live in a professor s house in order to escape war time. The children soon discover Narnia, an alternate universe with talking creatures and a time zone much different than the regular universe. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One thing that Lewis wanted his readers to take from his writing was to know and understand that in order to be virtuous, you must have God s grace (McGrath 4). Many themes from the bible are found in the Chronicles of Narnia, but throughout The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the biggest symbol of Christianity is Narnia s king, Aslan ( A Fairy Tale... 3). Although he is a lion, he represents Christ in almost every way. Lewis chose to use a lion because the animal itself is said to be the king of beasts and in the bible, Jesus is referred to as The Lion of Judah (Baehr 3). In comparison of Aslan to Christ, it is noticeable that there are certain similarities in the way that they were both selfless leaders of their lands. Christ s crucifixion was a big part of the novel because Aslan gave his life so that Edmund, who had given into temptation, didn t have to; much like Christ gave his life for his people. The next day, Aslan rose from the dead, brought his warriors back to life and defeated evil and created a new Narnia. In the bible sense, that lines up the story of Christ s resurrection, his appearance to his disciples, his defeat of evil and then his creation of the new heavens and the new earth ( Response: The Seattle Pacific... 1). Although Aslan did not give his life for all as Christ did, the fact that he was dying for an imperfect person was representative of Christ s assurance that he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Different Views On Politics, Religion, Or What s Best You... Compare and Contrast two neighborhoods Dewitt, a small town in eastern Iowa with roughly fifty five hundred people residing within its borders. Most of the area around DeWitt is pretty similar, middle class families, white, and hard working. There is country life all around the DeWitt area, and sub divisions like Timber Creek. These two places resemble themselves, but for being so close carry quite a few differences. Both places are rather nice compared to other places in DeWitt and in my mind a lot better than living in a crowded and hectic city like Davenport or Clinton even. Different places bring different views on politics, religion, or what s best to do on your free time. Iowa is definitely more similar throughout the state than ... Not to mention, the majority of the home carry the very desirable attached garages for you people who are afraid of a little cold or rainy weather. Focusing more on the people now however, like I said mostly younger families, with kids around the ages of high school years. After talking to some people, the overall response is that they are happy to live there, as it is kind of secluded in the trees and away from town a bit, but also you have good quality neighbors around you. For activities in Timber Creek people of all ages have social gatherings at someone s house and all the neighbors come over drink beer, play cards, or watch the game on T.V. While down the road the kids go to another family s house and has their own gathering there. Joel Kirby describes the people as friendly, respectful and fun people to live around and be a part of. Addison Templeton on the other hand, commented I don t really care I d rather work the all day everyday making some money for snowmobiling! Additionally, he added that it was peaceful and relaxing especially knowing that your neighbor wasn t a dummy. Landon Muhl on the other hand shockingly responded with, I wouldn t mind trying a different place to live. Wrong. Unfortunately, smokeless and harmless are not interchangeable terms; as a matter of fact, there is absolutely no such thing as smokeless tobacco. Smokeless tobacco products come in many different shapes and forms, such as dip, chew, and snuff. These types of products allow users to get a kick of nicotine without having to inhale the smoke of cigarettes, so it is not surprising why they re so popular. The sugar found in smokeless tobacco chemically reacts with the bacteria naturally found on teeth, causing them to slowly decay. Other very common traits that smokeless tobacco users have are bad breath, tooth discoloration, and sensitive teeth; all of these effects are very common in abusive users and can be permanent if not cared for. Also, the main reason these smokeless tobacco products are so dangerous is because of the all the hazardous chemicals found inside them, such as nicotine. Nicotine is a chemical found in all tobacco products that has many health effects on the human body. The difference between cigarette users, who inhale nicotine containing smoke into the lungs, and smokeless users is that they absorb the chemicals through their oral cavities, getting nicotine to eventually travel into their bloodstreams. (Julie 1). As a matter of fact, users [of smokeless tobacco] generally absorb more nicotine from smokeless tobacco products than from cigarettes (Julie 2). If more people were aware of this fact, they would definitely think twice before chewing/dipping again. • 43. The Pros And Cons Of Nationalism In The 19th Century Nationalism is a sense of loyalty to one s nation. Nationalism has the power to unify or divide a whole country, and did so to numerous countries in Europe. The idea of nationalism had not become known until the 19th century, because in the 19th century modern transportation was used more commonly and people of different cultures came in correspondence with each other more frequently. Nationalism appeared in places with a strong central government such as The Roman Empire and the dynasties in China. However, it first emerged in Europe because Europe industrialized first and The French Revolution caused a great sense of nationality under the rule of Napoleon. The Russian citizen s needs were still not met so in return, Stolypin was assassinated. The Duma now only had limited power. In conclusion, nationalism is a key factor for a nation to come together. Nationalism in Germany and Italy allowed for them to become unified states. However, Russia was not able to become a unified state because its leaders never satisfied the needs of the Russian citizens, didn t industrialize as quickly as the other states, and never gave the people of Russia a reason to have pride in their country. The leaders of Russia made the mistake of ignoring the power of nationalism. In Russia, Germany, and Italy you can truly see the effects of having or not having

  • 45. The Effects Of Make Up And Body Image This persuasive essay is going to be on the effects of using, and problems with make up and body image on teenagers. These affect teenager s self esteem and make the teens have a vision of being perfect in every way. Most teens now have a vision of the body image that models and celebrity induce and some teenagers think if they are anything less than these front cover models they are ugly. One website explains body image as Body image is how you view your physical self including whether you feel you are attractive and whether others like your looks. When people feel their body is ugly or that they are too short or that they don t look like an Instagram model it makes us feel valueless or weird. The words we should be using are unique or beautiful; we are all different and aiming to be the same as someone else isn t right. One of the main problems with make up is that most teenagers use make up to hide their acne and spots but over time this can increase amount of spots meaning more make up is used and a chain reaction occurs. Make up is also quite expensive and can be used up very quickly. Make up is mostly used to improve someone s looks because they are self conscious and I think it s good that people feel more confident while wearing make up but you should be able to accept the way you look and feel great about yourself. If everyone just gave a compliment a day no one would feel ugly and we wouldn t have standards or this image of how we could look better. A further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
