The Influence Of Past American Women Writers
The Influence of Past American Women Writers Amy Tan, Julia Ward Howe, and Judith Sargent
Murray are some of the noble women whom have helped shape the lives of their fellow gender
with the talents of their writing. Much of their writing became increasingly influential years after
it was written. Their literature allows today s modern readers to reflect on the humanity and the
treatment of women, understand history s past, and use it as an example to continue spreading
the vision of the equality of women today. Tan was known for her willingness to stand up for
herself against her mother, in pursuits to find her own dreams versus those of what her mother
had laid out for her (Showalter, Ch. Amy Tan ). Howe was a poet, and founder of the nation s
Battle Hymn of the Republic , she was known for her activism of women s rights, abolition, and
world peace (Showalter, Ch. Julia Ward Howe ). Lastly, Murray was known as the first womanof
American letters, speaking for women s rights after the American Revolutionary War (Showalter,
Ch. Judith Sargent Murray ). Tan, Howe, and Murray have proved to be influential not only in
America s historic past, but inspiration leading to today and the future as well. These women are
excellent examples to learn from in taking ownership of their women s rights and the equalities we
shall have, in our still unequal world. Amy Tan was born in Oakland, California. Both of her
parents were Chinese immigrants ( Amy Tan Biography Academy of

The Beatles Biography Essay
Hello, The Name s, John Winston Lennon and I m singer and songwriter from the band the
Beatles. I was born in Liverpool on October 9, 1940. When I was around five years old, my
parents separated and I started to live with my aunt Mimi. At the age of five my mother wanted
me to choose between her and my father. I first chose my father, but when his mother walked
out on me I ran after her. I couldn t bare to not be without her. Anyway on a happier note, at a
young age, I was always interested in music. People like Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley were
one of my inspirations to get into music. Heck, I begged aunt Mimi to buy me a pair of glasses
just like Buddy Holly s. I mean I probably wouldn t use them anyway, because I don t like wearing
glasses. Back to music, the first instrument that I learned was a harmonica that was given to me by
my uncle George. After my uncle s death, in 1955, I continued to learn more about instruments and
later learned to play the guitar. After about two lessons I was seriously going to quit, but after
hearing that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On April of 1970 The Beatles released that they were breaking up and McCartney announced his
leave. I just didn t want to be a band anymore. Me and Ono moved to the US on September, of
1971. We we were there me and Ono were threatened with deportation many times from the
government. I believed that it was because of my activism against the Vietnam war. In 73 me
and Ono separated because of a fight. And thankfully only after a year, me and Ono reconciled
and had one son named Sean. Sean was obviously my favorite son between Julian and Sean. I
quit singing in 1975 and became a house father to Sean. The last time me and Paul last saw each
other was in 1976. After four years I went into the singing business again. The reason was after I
heard Paul s new single come out, I thought it was good, not that I would tell McCartney that. In
1980 I released my album Double

The Causes And Abuse Of The Catholic Church
Catholic religion is one of the oldest religions, highly practiced in the United States. It is a
religion with a set of beliefs such as practicing celibacy among the priests and nuns. Each and
every state in America has several parishes and a bishop that oversees the operations of the
churches in those said regions. For instance, in the State of Phoenix, there is a bishopwith several
priests in every parish handling the operations of the churches. The Catholics follow a set of
beliefs and traditions that mirror the morality in the society. However, these beliefs are being
eroded by the some of the followers in various parts of the world. In fact, the Catholic Churchhas
become a subject of serious allegations of child sexual abuseat the hands of the clergy. Several
cases have occurred globally even the most high profile cases occurring in Europe and America.
Majority of the people ha come forward and reported the incidents of clerical sexual misconducts.
They have done so under investigative reporting talking about years of abuse on the part of the
priests together with cover ups and patterns of secrecy by church officials that aided in allowing
these accused priests in continuing to their ministries in the various parishes and this involved
interaction with mirrors. Canonical, civil, and criminal sanctions have been directed to several
bishops, priests, and even dioceses. However, there are those that have managed to escape the
hands of justice and continue to engage in

The American Dream In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
The American dream is a perfect life that everyone has thought of and works for. This dream is
equivalent to a goal, in that it is a force that can push the human spirit to its best. In Of Mice and
Men, John Steinbeck demonstrates how the concept of a dream can empower an individual, but
how the result can break an individual. Curley s wife, Crooks, Lennie, and George all juxtapose the
idea where a dream pushes someone to their fullest potential. The neverending battle that fate and
human spirit engage in is found throughout the major and minor conflicts of this novellathus
creating a reoccuring theme of inevitability and chance that structure the story. Of Mice and Men
includes a couple of characters that directly contrast the notion of a dream keeping someone
sane and striving. Throughout the majority of the novella, Curley s wife is a subject of disdain.
However it is confided to Lennie that she coulda made somethin of herself but ended up
[marrying] Curley (Steinbeck 88). Curley s wife is a fine example of an individual that has lost
her dreams and is forever affected by it. With her marriage to Curley, she gives up on her dreams
and the toil that it takes on her life is evident in the novella. In this way, her life has lost spirit
because there is no greater purpose that she has to fulfill. Steinbeck not only represents broken
dreams through direct stories of his characters, but also by indirectly referencing the lost dreams
of those who have passed. Crooks, a stable buck, sees workers pass by the ranch for years, and
sees dreams fade time and time again. Steinbeck uses Crooks to unveil a cold truth that nobody
ever gets to Heaven and nobody [ever] gets no land (Steinbeck 74). Steinbeck s purpose in
grouping the two ideas, Heaven and the American dream, is to assure that his reader is aware of
their main connection. The stable buck sees the dreams of men and compares it to Heaven
because he has never seen an individual return with evidence of a dream s, or Heaven s,
existance. It is in this piece of dialogue that Steinbeck shows how unrealistic it is for a dream to
be achieved. The similarities between Crooks and Curley s wife is their disbelief in the American
Dream because it has left them

Mass Service Customization Creates Opportunities For Firms...
Mass service customization creates opportunities for firms to provide products and services to serve
unique customer needs while maintaining the efficiency of near mass production (Jiao, Ma, Tseng,
2003). With mass production, economies of scale are generated with the continuous production of
similar, standardized products; however, a consequence of mass production is the limitation of
customerchoice. No longer are customers satisfied with mass production, customers want tailored
products individualized to their demands. Mass customization is an opportunity to accentuate the
differences or uniqueness of services to appeal to specific customers. Therefore, firms companies
that create mass individualized services are more able to give each customer what they want, when
they want it. Mass customization of service requires an awareness to meet the unpredictable
variation each customer demands. Consequently, critical factors of flexibility, variety, and
timeliness are essential with mass service customization (Peters Saidin, 2000). Firms that offer
customized services must also design its products with flexibility in mind. Design flexibility allows
for easier variations, modification, or adaptations to the meet the specificity of each customer. With
lean manufacturing and smart factories, firms have a greater flexibility to modify, create, and
assemble unique services for customers (Daft, 2016). In offering and differentiating customized
services, a firm must

Hamburger Essay
Big Tasty Hamburger At times when we are in a hurry, hamburgers are one of the easiest foods to
eat while on the go. No matter what time it is whether its breakfast, lunch, or dinner we grab a
hamburger and might throw in some fries and a soda to go with it. Many restaurants are known to
make their hamburgers in a specific way. Preparation differs from restaurant to restaurant. But what
really makes a hamburgertaste so delicious? Depending where you go they will taste different but
they are all structured the same. It consists of a bun, a ground meat pattyand often ingredients such
as cheese, onion slices, lettuce and other condiments.
I occasionally like to buy juicy burgers that look and taste great. When your food is served it ...

Third but not least, the conclusion provides an almost mirror image of the introduction,
wrapping up the arguments with a restatement of the thesis of your essay. I call this the bottom
burger bun or in other words the conclusion. Holding it all together is the bottom bun of the
hamburger or the conclusion to sum up all the key points of interest. The conclusion sentence
should be interesting by giving it a call to action. As you can see a hamburger is easy to make
like writing is not as hard as you think. Writing is very simple to do as preparing a hamburger.
Although, most of the time hamburgers are dry and taste like cardboard. They are the ones that
tend to not be juicy or appealing to the eye. Believe it or not, essays are similar to dry burgers.
Writing essays can lack clear thoughts, explanations, and opinions as well as vague arguments.
As a result an essay that is boring and not interesting end up receiving a poor grade. However, a
hamburger can be re made to taste better like an essay can be revised or edited.
In writing, as in other kinds of production, the process directly affects the quality of the product. If
we prepare a meal quickly, assembling poor ingredients without much thought or attention, we aren
t likely to end up with a tasty dish. The best chefs, like the best writers, refine their methods and
think carefully about what they are doing, with close attention to detail to

Employment of Illegal Immigrants
Employment of Illegal Immigrants Employment of illegal immigrants in the United States, as
well as other countries has been a highly controversial subject for many years now. There are
many people living in various countries around the world that are unhappy with the way they are
living, and want something more out of life than what their country can offer. Due to their
unhappiness, they decide to immigrate to another country, and this is usually done illegally. Once
they are in their preferred country, which a lot of the time is the United States, they are forced to
work in low skilled jobs because higher skilled jobs require people to speak fluent English and
show proof of residency. Although many people view illegal migrants as a... Show more content on

There has been many laws and regulations passed, to try and prevent illegal migrants from
working in the United States. In all states, businesses Are required by federal law to check the
legal status of all new hires. They must fill out federal form 1 9 to show that each worker holds
federally acceptable residency documents, like a driver s license or social security card (Speizer
1). Although they must do all of those things, they are not required to check the authenticity of the
documents. In Arizona that has all changed, a new law has been passed that makes it mandatory
for all employers to participate in E Verify in which information from 1 9 documents can be
checked through databases at the Social Security Administration or the Department of Homeland
Security (Speizer 2). This used to be something businesses could voluntarily partake in, but has
now become mandatory in Arizona. Under this law they have created harsh punishments for
employers who knowingly hire undocumented migrants. One of these harsh punishments includes
the loss of the employer s business license, if it is a reoccurring issue. They hope that this new
law will decrease the amount of undocumented workers in the state and create more jobs for their
own U.S. citizens. I do not believe that employment of illegal immigrants is a problem in our
country in any way. Over half of the jobs

It is with great grief that I write you this letter in regards to the passing of your daughter. I wish

circumstance, neglecting to explain to you the reasoning for the actions that took place on the
ship would be unjust on my part. My dear friends, you are at least owed an explanation for the
tragic sacrifice of your daughter, of which I intend to give you. The motives behind the mission in
question were as follows; 6 colonist nursing terminal illnesses awaited the serum carried in the

The fact of the matter is Marilyn put her needs ahead of a law she did not understand and must
assume moral culpability. However, this is not a matter of retribution. When faced with such
difficult circumstances, we must seek to bring about the least amount of pain to the greatest
amount of people, and when reviewing the reasonable consequences to be expected; the death
of these 7 men, against the additional hours of life we could have given Marilyn by allowing her
to stay we made the practical choice. Please do not resent Mr. Barton, I must urge that he did
everything in his power to save your daughter within reason and exhausted all possibilities. He
even increased the speed of ship to decrease fuel consumption and bide her more time. Inevitably,
there was no other choice but to jettison Marilyn. I assure you this was not easy for him. While we
did what we must, we still extend apologies and sincerest regret that the situation occurred.

Global Perspective
All over the world Female Infanticide is a cruel and sinuous act. Every child deserves a chance to
live and experience life. Female Infanticide also goes against the women s right to freedom and
gender equality. In a global view of Female Infanticide, Female Infanticide should be reduced
before it is too late.
National Perspective
Living in a country with very low or no Female Infanticide cases. There is not much public debate
on this issue. Singapore focuses a lot on gender equality and has strict laws against such issues.
And if such issues occur in the future I hope it a solution is found for it immediately.
Local Perspective Our community thinks that Female Infanticide will be a massive problem in the
future. If the right actions are taken now the right solutions are provided it might decrease and
Female Infanticide will and can be slowly avoided.

The Fantasy Story
Today I #8217;d like to tell you about fantasy literature. It is very hard to tell all about it but I
#8217;ll try to do it as good as possible and not being boring. First fantasy motifs were shown in
romanticism. We all know the mystical and unreal characters: ghosts, phantoms etc. Authors for
building the special mood and charm of that epoch used that figures.
But fantasy is something more than romantic ways of showing nature or inner experiences of the
main character in the novel. It #8217;s also not an attempt of explaining the unreal and difficult to
understand visions or event. In the course of time it began to live it #8217;s own life more and
more the writers started to use these motifs. And what had happened? They created... Show more

But one day, after many happy years on the throne, they got lost in a forest. While walking the
trees became coats and they suddenly fell out of the closet. Long years in Narnia were just few
minutes in the human world. Children have big imagination so crossing the line between
fantasies and real is not a problem, but it is a big challenge for readers. Lewis created the magic
land and as he once said: #8221;even if all of that is imagined #8211; trees, grass, sun, moon,
stars and Aslan, there is no doubt: this imagined world is much better then the real one #8221;.
The next kinds, beloved by fantasy fans are #8220;never lands #8221;. They are perfectly
defined by one of first never lands creators Lord Dunsany. He named it as places #8220;beyond
the fields we know #8221;. And we are really crossing the line of human perception. Authors don
#8217;t blink their eye, don #8217;t pretend like in the Venice carnival. Not everything is from
the beginning land of fantasy. Tolkien made never lands legal, gave them autonomy and
independence, full rights in authors imagination. He said that artistic imagination has no borders
and cannot be restricted by what is real. We can see what we want to see, also the land of never.
Never lands can use the cultural heritage of our world, but it all depends on the author. Of course
playing in never lands must be based on understanding and agreement between writer and reader,
we have to accept all the rules and it

Fairy Tale Conventions
In her collection Kissing the Witch, Emma Donoghue breaks apart and reconstructs the fairy tale by
expertly retelling thirteen classic tales in a manner that subverts both societal conventions and the
conventions of the fairytale genre. In each retelling, Donoghue takes the iconic imagery and basic
premise of a given fairy tale, but twists components of the plot and more richly develops the
character of her heroines often ending with a happily ever after (or not so happily ever after) that
is vastly different from the traditional versions of the tales. In so doing so, she circumvents the
social standards that the established versions of the tale uphold. By definition, fairy tales are stories
in constant flux, but each version of the tale... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the story of Tale of the Shoe progresses, Cinderella becomes increasingly cognizant of her role
within a constructed fairy tale archetype. Before going to the ball for the 3rd time, she claims
that she didn t have to listen to the barking voices to know how the story went, and later
comments that the scene as the prince is about to propose is all very fairy tale (5 6.) Even
without directly listening to the voices and the societal conventions they represent, these
instances in which the 4th wall is broken reveal that Cinderella feels as though she must adhere
to the conventions of the archetypal Cinderella story. By extension, she feels as though she must
adhere to the expectations that go along with the Cinderella narrative namely love and marriage
to the prince, thereby limiting her personal freedom and capacity for action. Yet Cinderella
begins to feel that these story conventions and expectations are shallow. In the description of the
3rd night s ball, Cinderella remarks that the musicians played the same song over and over while
Cinderella herself danced like a clockwork ballerina (6.) The references of the repeated song and
mechanical nature of the dancing gives the scene a sense of monotony and fakeness,
demonstrating Cinderella s discomfort with the pre written steps of the archetypal Cinderella
narrative. As the prince proposes, Cinderella compares him to an actor on a creating stage, a
simile that further exposes him and the whole narrative situation as inorganic as an actor simply
working through the motions of a pre written script. As he speaks, Cinderella claims that she can
see the future in his words, fearing the long procession of years to come and her pre prescribed
future should she marry him. Thus, even

THE HUMAN SIGNIFICANCE OF SKIN
Skin is often over looked and under appreciated by all of us. We live our lives habitually without
realizing what an amazing and important role skin plays in our every day routine. Our skin
protects us from many things, keeps us informed of our surroundings and makes us aware of
many dangers present. The sense of touch is our most developed feeling and the predecessor of
all of our other senses. The author gives several examples on how we have incorporated our sense
of touch to our colloquial language as an expression of just how much we use our skin. But our
skin may serve more purposes than those of protection and information. Through several

Differences Between Mammals And Mammals
QUESTION #3
Vertebrates divide into many different groups, in particular my interest leans towards mammals,
there are many different mammals they all come in different shapes and sizes. Mammals are
animals who feed their young with milk which is produced by their mammary glands and unlike
other animal s mammals have hair and inner ear bones. Mammals are a well known vertebrate
species which include rodents, carnivores, herbivores, sea animals, hoofed animals, humans and
others. Mammals range in size from as big as a whale or an elephant to as small as a mouse or a
bat. Understanding mammals is much easier since humans themselves are mammals, since there
are about 5000 different species of mammals it is hard to learn all of them. One of the many
interesting vertebrate species we studied was the pig who happens to share a lot of anatomy with
the human. The respiratory system for example in the pig includes the nostrils and oral cavity,
pharynx, trachea, glottis, lungs. Very similar with the human system, the pig absorbs air through
the nasal openings or the oral cavity which then passes to the pharynx as it is traveling down it
enters the glottis and from there goes to the trachea which sends it down to the lungs where it
enters the bronchial tubes to the bronchioles and then into the alveoli with the reverse process
applying for the exhale. Circulatory system in pigs includes a four chambered heart, two atria and
two ventricles, blood, veins, arteries, capillaries. The

Therefore, a current solution would unite the characteristics of the hydrogen internal combustion
engine, using for improving the burning efficiency, due to high flame speed and higher calorific
value during combustion of hydrogen. One of the best utilization alternatives of this clean energy,
existing in the hydrogen, would be through the process of electrolysis of water as it is a relatively
simple process without generated solid, liquid or gas waste which would be harmful to the
environment. Furthermore it helps in the reducing of the consumption of fossil fuels. According to
Al Rousan (2010), the HHO gas produced in the electrolytic reactor, can be injected into internal
combustion engines, along with the original fuel engine improves engine efficiency and
consequently reduces power consumption of the fossil fuel.

this nature and seeing this sort of chaos. Luckily for many of them this project was handled
mainly by a few strong leaders of the class and the majority of them only needed to follow behind
and assist with very small mundane tasks. Although some tried to help and get involved it was
very noticeable that their efforts were halfhearted, and quickly they would back out of

condescending it s by no means meant to take away from their efforts. They all showed up when

The Role Of The French Revolution In Modern Day Europe
Modern day Europe owes much of its concepts from the the French Revolution that started in 1789.
At that time Europe was ruled by absolute monarchies, the clergy and the aristocracy, and the rural
class was greatly suffering from over taxation and social injustice. The French Revolution was a
crucial turning point in european history, both politically and economically and set Franceon a
different path from the rest of Europe. Politically, the french revolutionallowed the absolute
monarchy to be replaced by a republic while the Estates general was replaced by the National
Assembly. Economically, the french revolution helped solidify the french economy through
nationalizing the church lands and issuing assignats instead of paper money and left France stable
for the years to come.
During the Old Regime, France was ruled by Louis XVI under an absolute monarchy where the
population was divided into three estates. The first was composed of the clergy, the second of the
aristocracy and the third of the peasants. Each estate had one vote to cast for each decision and the

Police Scene Investigation And Reconstruction
General Identifying Statement
Crime scene investigation and reconstruction are both central aspects in the study of policing. By
definition, a crime scene is a scene or place where an offence has been committed, and the site
where forensic evidence is to be gathered in the pursuit of investigating the offence (Fisher, 2012,
p.10). Fisher goes on to clarify that a crime scene may refer to a physical place that may provide
potential evidence to an investigator. This is not limited to a location but rather may include a
include a person s body, any type of building, vehicles, places in the open air or objects found at
those locations. Fisher elaborates; explaining how hoth forensic and scientific techniques are used
in order to preserve and obtain evidence of crime at the crime scene. (Fisher, 2012, p. 13).
Lee and Palmbach (2001) point out that the processes involved in examining a crime scene does not
need to be sophisticated or elaborate; instead, investigators need to concern themselves with
adhering to the fundamental principles and procedures within crime scene investigation. It is
important to remember that there is not a comprehensive plan or sole guiding principle when it
comes to processing crime scenes (Pepper, 2010, p. 101). This being the case, exploring different
protocols and methods that assist in forming a logical plan towards crime scene investigation is
crucial in policing. Understanding how different methods, protocol, and elements relate and connect

Shifa Alternate Ending
Completely lost in her own world, Shifa raised her face and shook it lightly. With scrunched eyes,
she laughed as the rain cascaded down splashing the water everywhere.
Leaning on the main door of the haveli with arms crossed on his chest, Azlaan observed Shifa s
childish behavior from far under the shelter. He preferred the indoors when it rained. Rain was bad
news. Whenever his life took an ugly turn, these treacherous showers were his witness. The
cloudburst was his lifelong enemy, constantly reminded him about the miseries of his cursed life.
However today, he felt different. The heaviness, which burdened his heart from this weather was
missing somehow. Maybe, because he was not alone to face it.

Theme Of Miss Julie
Miss Julie has two subordinates, a daughter of the Count and a servant who are subject to each
other s authority. Miss Julie and Jean differs in terms of class and in terms of morality. In terms
of class, Miss Julie is superior compared Jean since Miss Julie is a daughter of the Count while
Jean is only a servant of the count. But, it terms of Morality, we can say that Jean is superior
compared to Miss Julie in that fact that Miss Julie had miserable experience in her love life. She
was not able to achieve being a loving wife for her partner due to her inappropriate actions towards
her partner. She beats her partner which forces her partner to leave her and resulted their separation.
The differences structure most of the play s action. In the play, the characters who are superior and
inferior does not change in their positions. The superior characters remained in their position and
the inferior characters also remained in their position. Both the superior character and the inferior
character follows the rule of the character that has the highest position which is the Count who is

One way in which this play could be related to the Darwinian concept of survival of the fittest is
through the play s examination of class and how it looks at two characters who seem to be rather
unhappy about where they are placed in the social ladder. The Darwinian concept of the survival of
the fittest states that there will be some members of a species who, thanks to their genetic
variations, will be more suited to prosper and survive better than others. Applying this to humans
led to the theory of Social Darwinism, which allowed people to argue that those who prospered

A Comparison Of Hills Like White Elephants And Happy Endings
Hills like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway and Happy Endings by Margaret Atwood share a
gender oriented theme. They both show women struggling to attain equality against their male
partners. This theme is depicted through the use of symbolism, point of view and plot conflict.
Symbolically, Hills like White Elephants represents a choice. It is a life choice that can t be undone
once it is made. This choice is about whether or not Jig, the female character of the story, should
get an abortion. It supports the theme because if Jig chooses to keep the baby she is defying the
wishes of her male partner, who is simply referred to as the man, and taking a stand for women
by doing so. However it is not entirely clear what choice she makes at the end of the story. Her
only words being, I feel fine...There s nothing wrong with me. I feel fine (216). The interpretation
some people take for this is that she decided to keep the baby and chose to defy male domination.
In Happy Endings the main symbols are how the relationships end be it cheating, age, or health
complications. Cheating is symbolic of the relationship being dominated by only one person
involved in it. Age is symbolic of both partners sharing or being equal in the relationship. Lastly
health complications are a way of saying that fate, be it good or bad, can be involved, or that not
everything works out according to plan. These are all related to the idea that by placing a dominant
person in the relationship

The Culture And Business Practices Of Japan
Introduction
221 Baker plans to open a store in Tokyo, Japan by the end of the 2016 fiscal year. By conducting
research by utilizing the World Wide Web and an informative interview by Sensei Mako Nozu, we
have gathered substantial information about the culture and business practices of Japan. We feel as
if our knowledge has equipped us to succeed in this widely misunderstood market. Venture Japan
stated that many foreign countries never do start business in Japan (or enter the market through a
distributor) because of the misconception, fueled by those infamous myths of doing business in
Japan, that dealing with the Japanese business culture is somehow too risky (Venture Japan). We

For example, if your shift is at 9 A.M. you are expected to be dressed, clocked in, and at your
desk before that time (Nozu). Also, in every situation you find yourself in, you should be aware
of how people are perceiving you, as this is extremely important to the Japanese. It is very
common for the Japanese to go out after work to bars, karaoke s, or restaurants. If you are
invited you should make an effort to go, as good relationships with those whom you work with
are important. The well being of the group is always placed above the individual in their culture.
If a Japanese business is not doing well the CEO would cut his own pay so that it could be fairly
distributed to his employees. Things like this, that we may not see in Western business practices,
are all part of the unified country of Japan. Family Life
As the Japanese are very social and place a lot of emphasis on strong bonds, family is extremely
important. Families in Japan are referred to as ie and are all registered to the same koseki or
official government document (Bestor). The structure is very similar that seen in Western culture
where the mother, father, and children reside together. It is common for older relatives to live
with a family, and if they do not, there is an old saying that even if an extended family does not
live together, parents and grandparents should live near enough to carry over a bowl of hot

How the Media Influences the Public Perception of Science...

The tabloid newspaper is the Sun and the broadsheet newspaper is the Times.
Firstly I will analyse the story written by the Sun, this tabloid covered the same story as the
Times and therefore we can find out their intentions. The Sun had the following bold headline
Deadly strain confirmed , I can clearly see from the start that they are trying to create a scare in
the public and capture the reader s attention very fast, this is because they don t tell you what
deadly strain they are talking about, if I were to see this in a newspaper lying around I would
pick it up because it already got me worried and caught my attention. This has made me think, are
they trying to inform the reader or just trying to sell their story? You only learn what the deadly
strain is after you read paragraph 1 so this proves my point.
On the 3rd paragraph the Sun states the following the swan had the strain which can be fatal to
humans. Instead of just using the swan had the H5N1 strain the Sun chooses to create more of an
impact by using the word fatal and implying it to humans. This makes the beginning of the article
to cause fear, evoke an element of alarm and perhaps imply that the readers should be fearful for
their own health. The article also mentions experts rushing to the scene to

What Is Cobalt In Pottery
Ancestry The element cobalt was discovered by Swedish chemist Georg Brandt in 1730. Cobalt
had been unknowingly used in pottery for centuries, but Brandt published his scientific results
about the metal in 1739. The blue color given off when cobalt is used in pottery was originally
thought to be because of another element, bismuth; Georg proved this wrong. At first there were
speculations of whether or not that this was a new element. Some other scientists claimed it was
just a compound of iron and arsenic. Eventually it gained the recognition it deserved as an element.
The chemical symbol for Cobalt is self explanatory, Co. The word Cobalt comes from the Greek

It has a lustrous blue silvery color. The boiling point of cobalt is very high, as it is a metal. Cobalt
melts at 2723 degrees Fahrenheit, and it takes 5301 degrees to boil it. This is assuming that the
atmospheric pressure is normal and you re at sea level. Cobalt is very hard, which makes it
useful to humans. It is also pretty dense, at 8.86 grams per centimeters squared. This metal is
very ductile, but only somewhat malleable. There are only 2 known isotopes of Cobalt. Cobalt
59 is the only naturally occurring isotope of Cobalt. This means that the only cobalt that will
ever be found in nature is cobalt with 32 neutrons. Cobalt 60 is a man made isotope of cobalt. This
radioactive isotope was discovered by Glenn Seaborg in the late 1930 s at the University of
California. Cobalt 60 is an important source of gamma radiation and is used in some medical fields
to treat cancer. As it is a metal, cobalt will not react with water or air at room temperature.
However, if cobalt is heated to above 900 degrees Celsius, the oxide Co3O4 will form. As far as
acids go, cobalt will react to sulfuric acid and will be deteriorated. The direct reaction between
cobalt and bromine will result in dibromide cobalt (II) bromide, CoBr2 being formed. Cobalt is not

What s more, the authors use a problem that an employee of the company Trenell has, as an

suitable solution to the problem, making him arriving at his desired state. After introducing the One
Minute Goal Setting as the fundamental of effective management, the authors also demonstrate the
way of doing One Minute Praising the second secret. One Minute Praising is simply:
1. Tell people up front that you are going to let them know how they are doing.
2. Praise people immediately.
3. Tell people what they did right be specific.
4. Tell people how good you feel about what they did right, and how it helps the organization and
the other people who work there.
5. Stop for a moment of silence to let them feel how good you feel.
6. Encourage them to do more of the same.
7. Shake hands or touch people in a way that makes it clear that you support their success in the
organization (44) While presenting the elements in the On Minute Praising, the authors also use a
practical detailed example to emphasize its benefit and importance on encouraging hard work and
good performance. Blanchard and Johnson believe that

Dependency Theory in Society
Dependency theory appeared in the 20th century 50`s. The main topics that are included in
dependency theory are historical materialism connected with other critical traditions, a partnership
between developed countries and developing countries, interaction between a core and a periphery.
Dependency theory mainly is used to talk about Western societies and Third World countries.
Foundation of the dependency theory is Marxism, also it prefigures post structuralism, and the
dependency theory stands for opposite opinion about economical growth and its affect, than
neoliberals do. The Dependency theory doesn t look at economical activities from positive side,
especially when it is done by world s richest countries. Richest countries economical activities
always affect poorer countries, especially they cause economical problems. The dependency theory
has evolved from two main sources, first is from the United States and other is from Latin America.
In the United States the dependency theory developed because of the socialist journal Monthly
Review, where neo Marxist thoughts were summarized and were published a publications about
different social organizations. Previously the dependency theory was called as theory of monopoly
capitalism, but later it was recalled as we know it now. The thought about the dependency theory
rose from observed stagnation in the Third World, where bourgeoisies were acting like they want
and did not take into account other opinions. If school of

Analysis Of Vineland And Robert Coover s Dramatic...
Abstract
The present paper traces the origins of Thomas Pynchon s novel Vineland and Robert Coover s
dramatic monologue Rip Awake to Washington Irving s short story Rip Van Winkle and attempts to
analyze both adaptations. Though Irving s short story dates back to an earlier time period in the
American landscape, it nonetheless forms the foundation of both Pynchon s and Coover s work.
Though Irving s writing style has often been called exceedingly British sounding, his narratives are
steeped in American history and the American way of life. Both Thomas Pynchonand Robert
Coover on the other hand belong to the postmodern age and deal with experimental fiction in
America. If Pynchon s fiction is described as encyclopedic, labyrinthine and convoluted then
Coover s is termed otherworldly and surreal. Despite the fact that most critics see both Pynchon and
Cooveras being as dissimilar as chalk and cheese, they nonetheless use experimental forms and
techniques that are distinctly postmodern as the present study will depict.

cannot do. This lack of understanding produces a dangerous overconfidence that causes the

Dietary Intake And Psychological Distress
Abstract
Necessary dietary intake is very important during pregnancy; it can affect not only the mother but
also the unborn baby. There are a couple of factors that play a huge role when the levels are
abnormal. Dietary intake and psychological distress are two major components that make up a
healthy pregnancy. In some parts of the world pregnant women do not get adequate micronutrients
and macronutrients. Not only is this an increasing risk of necessary dietary intake and
psychological distress but this can be the reason why stressors occur in the first place. Not having
resources for pregnant women who are low in social economic status could be the reason why there
are health issues among pregnant women.

The effects of xenophobia on South African society are devastating. Xenophobia causes tension

undermines the fragile relationships and trust between the foreigners and citizens. It violates what
our country stands for (democracy and equality to all) by not treating immigrants as equals
especially when they need basic services from the government. The immigrants also present

Sometimes when you look at a piece of art, you cannot quickly and directly understand the

Iconography is seen a lot through cultures and religions, for example, in medieval Christian
symbolism, the unicorn symbolized Jesus. This is seen in The Unicorn in Captivity, and if you

The Black Death Was A Tragic Pandemic
The Black Death was a tragic pandemic that changed Europe dramatically. The Black Death, also
known as the Bubonic plague, killed millions of people throughout the thirteenth and fourteenth
centuries. The Black Plague occurred in this time period because trade and commerce started to
develop rapidly. After new trade routes had been opened, a ship coming back from Asia picked
up some fleas and rodents that were carrying the disease. Once the disease hit Europe, it spread
rapidly and killed millions of people. The late middle aged Europeans during this time lived in
constant fear of death. Most of them would remain inside their houses, trying to avoid any contact
with the outside world because they feared that they would develop the disease. In the end, every
citizen was aware that he or she could not escape death because eventually the Black Deathwould
reach them. This sparked creativity and inspiration in Europeans. The people all over Europe
started creating new ideas and developing theories based on society all because they feared that
the Black Death would take their lives. With this new profound sense of knowledge, there were
new developments in science, literature, and society that would ultimately help humanity flourish
as a whole. Being surrounded by death and the fear of it, it eventually helped society change for
the better. There would be no change in society if the people of Europe had not been surrounded

Australian contractor is doing the construction for $110,000,000. A local consultant to your firm
gets $20,000,000 for something and nobody asks what that is. This consultant seems to have only

The Role Of Fate And Fate In Oedipus The King
Introduction:
In Oedipus king wrote by the dramatist and philosopher Sophocles, Oedipus is the only
responsible of his destiny. Oedipus was the one who held his fate and destiny in his hands. Because
of his actions that he made, the curse that he swore and the prophecy about him, he had to be
punished for his actions and sins.
Body paragraph 1
The most important thing about the destiny of Oedipus is the Prophecy about what he will become
because it where the novel start.
Oedipus is not innocent for his action at law and does in fact bear the responsibleness for the
outcomes that his action at law have caused him to endure.
In Hellene mythology, the future of someone is usually predetermined by the fate and prophecies.
The role of prognostication is very important in Hellene mythology and it mimics the beliefs of
people who believed that lot and destiny could not be avoided.
Because one s fate is already predetermined, Oedipus Rex could not have escaped the
prognostication of the oracle Teiresias.
Although Oedipus King cannot ascendancy what his future tense entail, he can control how he
handle his prophecy.
Rather than boldly accepting his predetermined fate, Oedipus cowardly tries to run away from his
curse, running to Thebes, away from Polybus and Merope believing he can counter his destiny.
Additionally, when King Oedipus meets Teiresias and learns more about his destiny, Oedipus cry
the prophesier a fool and believes that he can thwart his destiny.
Oedipus s acts of cowardice and profanation wind to his downfall and demise.
Apollo once announced that I am destined to mate with my mother, and shed my father s blood
with my own hand. P.54
Body paragraph 2
Oedipus is victim from his own innocence because of his mistake about leaving his adoptive
family, thinking he can no longer make the prophecy come true, he think he can do what he want
to do like marrying and ruling a kingdom. He don t realize what he did.
For example, he claims he was committing a deed of self defense when he killed the man who
turned out to be his father.
He also did not know that Jocaste was his female parent because he had campaign away from
Merope, who Oedipus believed was his real mother.
Also, Oedipus

History Of Centralized Banking System
History of Centralized Banking
The start of the Federal Reserve and the current issue related to it
The history of central banking in America is a very interesting topic that carries a direct impact
on today s banking. The paper focuses on how the centralized banking system started with
special emphasis on the First and the Second banks of America and the inception of the Federal
banking system. Highlighted also are the circumstances that led to the established of the
financial organs alongside the relevance of the Federal Reserve today (Fischer, 2015). The
topic directly impacts on how financial crisis and all the economic challenges are being handled
today. The Federal Reserve is still the one which regulates all the fiscal activities of America. The
Federal Reserve refers to the centralized banking organization of America. The banking system
was established early in the 20th century through the adoption of the Federal Reserve legislation.
The inception of the central system was majorly triggered by a sequence of fiscal worries
specifically the famous 1907 fright. The Federal Reserve Act had notably passed through several
hearings, debates alongside changes and was upheld by the majority in the congress. The Federal
Reserve System came as the third central banking system of America, after the first and the second
banks of America (Bordo, 2015).
Initially the country s bank currency had been viewed as inflexible since it was anchored on the
depreciating worth of the

Linus Case Synthesis Essay
After reviewing the source code form Stallman s version, Linus was able to code together the first
version of Linux. I feel that after reviewing that source code, Linus advance the code to be able to
produce Linux. Using the GNU project, I think Linus was able to finally figure out what he wanted
to achieved.
After a visit to Transmeta in late 1996, Torvalds accepted a position at the company in California,
where he would work from February 1997 until June 2003. He then moved to the Open Source
Development Labs, which has since merged with the Free Standards Group to become the Linux
Foundation, under whose auspices he continues to work. In June 2004, Torvalds and his family

I feel that due to the success. He was finally taken serious on his beliefs of open source code should

advance open source code which I find is amazing.
From 1997 to 1999, he was involved in 86open helping to choose the standard binary format for
Linux and Unix. In 1999, he was named by the MIT Technology Review TR100 as one of the
world s top 100 innovators under age 35.In 1999, Red Hat and VA Linux, both leading developers
of Linux based software, presented Torvalds with stock options in gratitude for his creation. That
same year both companies went public and Torvalds s share value temporarily shot up to roughly
US$20 million.
His personal mascot is a penguin nicknamed Tux, which has been widely adopted by the Linux
community as the mascot of the Linux kernel. Although Torvalds believes open source is the only
right way to do software , he also has said that he uses the best tool for the job , even if that
includes proprietary software. He was criticized for his use and alleged advocacy of the
proprietary BitKeeper software for version control in the Linux kernel. Torvalds subsequently wrote
a free software replacement for BitKeeper called

The Mortgage And Financial Collapse Of The United States...
The mortgage and financial collapse of the United States economy had a very devastating impact
on thousands upon thousands of Americans. I count myself as one who also had been affected as
well. I was a bank manager with more than twenty years of banking experience and had decided
during the spring of 1998 to move into a more lucrative career in the mortgageand real estate
business. Having started my banking career as a teller, I had built great relationships with my
employers and customers and was proud of what I had accomplished. However, upon hearing the
news of yet another bank merger, I decided that I would train as a mortgage processor with one of
the best mortgage providers in New Jersey. Advancements came very quickly... Show more content

I am not against creative financing to help individuals obtain the homes of their dreams. I was
just not happy about the way that sub prime mortgages were presented to customers who did not
fully understand what their particular mortgage note detailed. Therefore, the lessons that we
have learned is that a buyer needs to be fully informed on how the process actually works. I
recall one former client who was wiser than most, and she had decided that despite what the
bank told her what she could afford ($140K) , she searched for a home priced ($100K) so she
could afford it on her own. Years later, she told me about her husband s infidelity and sure
enough he left their home within 14 months and she was stuck with the payments. Nevertheless,
she made her payments and even though she was late several times, her resilience and
determination paid off. She sold her house to a contractor for more than doubled its worth
because of the two lots that the house was on. She had a success story. That is why it is very
important to know what you are getting yourself into. I felt very sad when I would witness the
lack of understanding of newly arrived immigrants who could barely understand the English
language but there they were, trying to secure a mortgage loan. Full knowledge goes a long way
and that is one of the reasons that I would refer clients to take a class on mortgage lending with
one of the local realty agencies. Many of those

What makes Warren G. Harding a good president? First of all he was big government. Second he
passed one very important law that has made a big impact on the on the U.S. Lastly harding has
a lot of cool and interesting facts. To begin as you may know from reading the first paragraph
that president Harding is Big Government. Harding is Big Government because he tried the pass
a law that could have made a big help with our country today. Harding sought to provide
hospitalization, vocational training, and monetary compensation for wounded and
convalescent soldiers, sailors, and marines. Along with the law that he tried to pass his term
started near the end of world war 1. Soon before Harding died he made the steel industry work
day s longer but they did not agree and after his death they shortened the work day s back to the
way it was. Secondly he has passed one law the law he passed is very important in our country. It
is that woman could vote but in some country s it is still illegal to this day for woman to vote not
only that but in some country s female s can not go to school. Harding also made this quote, I

was gay. No one should ever be ashamed and scared of being gay. Unfortunately that was the
reality and the world the boys lived in. Religion was the reason why people hated. That was why
Yoongi had no faith, not just in religion, but in mostly everything. He wanted to hold Kihyun, hold
him tight, tell him to be brave and that he ll protect him. He scoffed at himself. Why did he have to
act like his shield? It was instinctively, to protect him.
Don t worry, i m sure with the shit we re going to tell people, everyone will think he s just hitting
on you and he only became your partner in projects to get closer. We got this. I CAN promise
you no one will get suspicious if everything goes according to plan. Yoongi s group was always

The Qur an further encourages sex by outlawing celibacy and permitting polygamy, thus reinforcing
heteronormative sexual behavior. Since the purpose of sex is procreation according the religious
text, homosexuality is seen as an aberration of Allah s will which threatens Muslims with
extinction. As a result, there is officially no room for homosexuality or homosexuals within Islam.43
Scholars of shari a, Islamic law, interpret homosexuality to be not merely a sin, but a crime as well.
Despite this, there is no specific punishment for homosexuality; instead, the decision is left to the
discretion of the ruling authorities. Shari a encourages those accused of homosexuality to repent
instead of confessing to the crime . This phenomenon can potentially explain the paucity of
historical literature of punishment of sexual transgressions.44 Islamic law stands for privacy and
protects it by all means. Besides, it repeatedly emphasizes that a person is innocent until proven
guilty without any doubt, and

Arthur Dimmesdale Symbolism
The character of the reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, despite the apparent single line interpretation of
his character is a difficult phenomenon. Based on the topic of our analysis, first of all we have to
find out if this image bears a symbolic meaning.
In the case of Dimmesdale we don t speak about any sweeping generalizations that go beyond the
narrative. This character remains in the circle of the known, to him puritanical notions of sin and
punishment and the possibility of rebellion could never reach his mind.( Because Arthur perceives
the world entirely through moral categories, he must see himself in just the same way as the crowd
perceived Hester in the first scaffold scene: he is a sinner, nothing more ) The nature of this
character is definitely not versatile for Hawthorne highlights in him only those qualities that are
very close to each other: cowardice, timidity, lack of fortitude and listlessness. This suggests that
Dimmesdale is nothing more than an allegory or even a schematic personification of an abstract
concept. His tragedy is not a confrontation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The energetic Hester gives strength to the languishing pastor and calls for escape. Inspired by
Hester s desire, he starts for the first time to feel truly happy and free.
When we consider this character, the line between artistic symbol and allegory is quite shaky, but
despite the fact that Hawthorne constantly emphasizes repentance as one of the main features of the
hero, Dimmesdale s character is not completely unambiguous. Arthur Dimmesdale on the one hand
is a hypocrite, but he also loves truth and sincerity. His whole life in the novel is the way for the
solemn moment of the revealing of his secret but along the way there are insights (the scene on the
scaffold with Hester and Pearl) and

Asteroid Theory
In the early nineteen hundreds, dinosaur fossils were discovered and recognized around the globe.
Scientists and paleontologists began contemplating how such densely populated creatures vanished.
Currently, paleontologists debate the two main hypotheses of how the dinosaurs died from either
the volcano activity or the asteroid impact. Both theories resulted in the same outcome yet differ in
key elements such as, the physical evidence left behind encourages every conceivable clarification
for the termination in charge of wiping out the dinosaurs.
As a matter of fact the theory that has gained wide acceptance today is that an asteroid collided
with Earth. A large meteor like ball striking the Earth ejecting enough debris and dust that it
resulted sunlight blockage long enough to modify the atmospheres climate, executing a
comparability of the nuclear winter. These events occurred in a sort of domino effect, plants were
the first to die out, followed by the herbivores that ate them, and finally the carnivores that fed on
the herbivores. Walter and Luis Alvarez from the University of California at Berkeley proposed the
main hypothesis in 1980. Team Alvarez firmly believed that the iridium layer is to blame an asteroid

  • 2. The Influence Of Past American Women Writers The Influence of Past American Women Writers Amy Tan, Julia Ward Howe, and Judith Sargent Murray are some of the noble women whom have helped shape the lives of their fellow gender with the talents of their writing. Much of their writing became increasingly influential years after it was written. Their literature allows today s modern readers to reflect on the humanity and the treatment of women, understand history s past, and use it as an example to continue spreading the vision of the equality of women today. Tan was known for her willingness to stand up for herself against her mother, in pursuits to find her own dreams versus those of what her mother had laid out for her (Showalter, Ch. Amy Tan ). Howe was a poet, and founder of the nation s Battle Hymn of the Republic , she was known for her activism of women s rights, abolition, and world peace (Showalter, Ch. Julia Ward Howe ). Lastly, Murray was known as the first womanof American letters, speaking for women s rights after the American Revolutionary War (Showalter, Ch. Judith Sargent Murray ). Tan, Howe, and Murray have proved to be influential not only in America s historic past, but inspiration leading to today and the future as well. These women are excellent examples to learn from in taking ownership of their women s rights and the equalities we shall have, in our still unequal world. Amy Tan was born in Oakland, California. When I was around five years old, my parents separated and I started to live with my aunt Mimi. At the age of five my mother wanted me to choose between her and my father. I first chose my father, but when his mother walked out on me I ran after her. I couldn t bare to not be without her. Anyway on a happier note, at a young age, I was always interested in music. People like Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley were one of my inspirations to get into music. Heck, I begged aunt Mimi to buy me a pair of glasses just like Buddy Holly s. I mean I probably wouldn t use them anyway, because I don t like wearing glasses. Back to music, the first instrument that I learned was a harmonica that was given to me by my uncle George. After my uncle s death, in 1955, I continued to learn more about instruments and later learned to play the guitar. After about two lessons I was seriously going to quit, but after hearing that... It is a religion with a set of beliefs such as practicing celibacy among the priests and nuns. Each and every state in America has several parishes and a bishop that oversees the operations of the churches in those said regions. For instance, in the State of Phoenix, there is a bishopwith several priests in every parish handling the operations of the churches. The Catholics follow a set of beliefs and traditions that mirror the morality in the society. However, these beliefs are being eroded by the some of the followers in various parts of the world. In fact, the Catholic Churchhas become a subject of serious allegations of child sexual abuseat the hands of the clergy. Several cases have occurred globally even the most high profile cases occurring in Europe and America. Majority of the people ha come forward and reported the incidents of clerical sexual misconducts. They have done so under investigative reporting talking about years of abuse on the part of the priests together with cover ups and patterns of secrecy by church officials that aided in allowing these accused priests in continuing to their ministries in the various parishes and this involved interaction with mirrors. • 5. The American Dream In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men The American dream is a perfect life that everyone has thought of and works for. This dream is equivalent to a goal, in that it is a force that can push the human spirit to its best. In Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck demonstrates how the concept of a dream can empower an individual, but how the result can break an individual. Curley s wife, Crooks, Lennie, and George all juxtapose the idea where a dream pushes someone to their fullest potential. The neverending battle that fate and human spirit engage in is found throughout the major and minor conflicts of this novellathus creating a reoccuring theme of inevitability and chance that structure the story. Of Mice and Men includes a couple of characters that directly contrast the notion of a dream keeping someone sane and striving. Throughout the majority of the novella, Curley s wife is a subject of disdain. However it is confided to Lennie that she coulda made somethin of herself but ended up [marrying] Curley (Steinbeck 88). Curley s wife is a fine example of an individual that has lost her dreams and is forever affected by it. With her marriage to Curley, she gives up on her dreams and the toil that it takes on her life is evident in the novella. In this way, her life has lost spirit because there is no greater purpose that she has to fulfill. Steinbeck not only represents broken dreams through direct stories of his characters, but also by indirectly referencing the lost dreams of those who have passed. Crooks, a stable buck, sees workers pass by the ranch for years, and sees dreams fade time and time again. Steinbeck uses Crooks to unveil a cold truth that nobody ever gets to Heaven and nobody [ever] gets no land (Steinbeck 74). Steinbeck s purpose in grouping the two ideas, Heaven and the American dream, is to assure that his reader is aware of their main connection. The stable buck sees the dreams of men and compares it to Heaven because he has never seen an individual return with evidence of a dream s, or Heaven s, existance. It is in this piece of dialogue that Steinbeck shows how unrealistic it is for a dream to be achieved. The similarities between Crooks and Curley s wife is their disbelief in the American Dream because it has left them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Mass Service Customization Creates Opportunities For Firms... Mass service customization creates opportunities for firms to provide products and services to serve unique customer needs while maintaining the efficiency of near mass production (Jiao, Ma, Tseng, 2003). With mass production, economies of scale are generated with the continuous production of similar, standardized products; however, a consequence of mass production is the limitation of customerchoice. No longer are customers satisfied with mass production, customers want tailored products individualized to their demands. Mass customization is an opportunity to accentuate the differences or uniqueness of services to appeal to specific customers. Therefore, firms companies that create mass individualized services are more able to give each customer what they want, when they want it. Mass customization of service requires an awareness to meet the unpredictable variation each customer demands. Consequently, critical factors of flexibility, variety, and timeliness are essential with mass service customization (Peters Saidin, 2000). Firms that offer customized services must also design its products with flexibility in mind. Design flexibility allows for easier variations, modification, or adaptations to the meet the specificity of each customer. With lean manufacturing and smart factories, firms have a greater flexibility to modify, create, and assemble unique services for customers (Daft, 2016). Third but not least, the conclusion provides an almost mirror image of the introduction, wrapping up the arguments with a restatement of the thesis of your essay. I call this the bottom burger bun or in other words the conclusion. Holding it all together is the bottom bun of the hamburger or the conclusion to sum up all the key points of interest. The conclusion sentence should be interesting by giving it a call to action. As you can see a hamburger is easy to make like writing is not as hard as you think. Writing is very simple to do as preparing a hamburger. Although, most of the time hamburgers are dry and taste like cardboard. They are the ones that tend to not be juicy or appealing to the eye. Believe it or not, essays are similar to dry burgers. Writing essays can lack clear thoughts, explanations, and opinions as well as vague arguments. There are many people living in various countries around the world that are unhappy with the way they are living, and want something more out of life than what their country can offer. Due to their unhappiness, they decide to immigrate to another country, and this is usually done illegally. In all states, businesses Are required by federal law to check the legal status of all new hires. They must fill out federal form 1 9 to show that each worker holds federally acceptable residency documents, like a driver s license or social security card (Speizer 1). Although they must do all of those things, they are not required to check the authenticity of the documents. In Arizona that has all changed, a new law has been passed that makes it mandatory for all employers to participate in E Verify in which information from 1 9 documents can be checked through databases at the Social Security Administration or the Department of Homeland Security (Speizer 2). This used to be something businesses could voluntarily partake in, but has now become mandatory in Arizona. Under this law they have created harsh punishments for employers who knowingly hire undocumented migrants. One of these harsh punishments includes the loss of the employer s business license, if it is a reoccurring issue. First fantasy motifs were shown in romanticism. We all know the mystical and unreal characters: ghosts, phantoms etc. Authors for building the special mood and charm of that epoch used that figures. But fantasy is something more than romantic ways of showing nature or inner experiences of the main character in the novel. It #8217;s also not an attempt of explaining the unreal and difficult to understand visions or event. Lewis created the magic land and as he once said: #8221;even if all of that is imagined #8211; trees, grass, sun, moon, stars and Aslan, there is no doubt: this imagined world is much better then the real one #8221;. • 13. Fairy Tale Conventions In her collection Kissing the Witch, Emma Donoghue breaks apart and reconstructs the fairy tale by expertly retelling thirteen classic tales in a manner that subverts both societal conventions and the conventions of the fairytale genre. In each retelling, Donoghue takes the iconic imagery and basic premise of a given fairy tale, but twists components of the plot and more richly develops the character of her heroines often ending with a happily ever after (or not so happily ever after) that is vastly different from the traditional versions of the tales. In so doing so, she circumvents the social standards that the established versions of the tale uphold. By definition, fairy tales are stories in constant flux, but each version of the tale... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the story of Tale of the Shoe progresses, Cinderella becomes increasingly cognizant of her role within a constructed fairy tale archetype. Before going to the ball for the 3rd time, she claims that she didn t have to listen to the barking voices to know how the story went, and later comments that the scene as the prince is about to propose is all very fairy tale (5 6.) Even without directly listening to the voices and the societal conventions they represent, these instances in which the 4th wall is broken reveal that Cinderella feels as though she must adhere to the conventions of the archetypal Cinderella story. By extension, she feels as though she must adhere to the expectations that go along with the Cinderella narrative namely love and marriage to the prince, thereby limiting her personal freedom and capacity for action. Yet Cinderella begins to feel that these story conventions and expectations are shallow. In the description of the 3rd night s ball, Cinderella remarks that the musicians played the same song over and over while Cinderella herself danced like a clockwork ballerina (6.) The references of the repeated song and mechanical nature of the dancing gives the scene a sense of monotony and fakeness, demonstrating Cinderella s discomfort with the pre written steps of the archetypal Cinderella narrative. As the prince proposes, Cinderella compares him to an actor on a creating stage, a simile that further exposes him and the whole narrative situation as inorganic as an actor simply working through the motions of a pre written script. As he speaks, Cinderella claims that she can see the future in his words, fearing the long procession of years to come and her pre prescribed future should she marry him. Thus, even ... Differences Between Mammals And Mammals QUESTION #3 Vertebrates divide into many different groups, in particular my interest leans towards mammals, there are many different mammals they all come in different shapes and sizes. Mammals are animals who feed their young with milk which is produced by their mammary glands and unlike other animal s mammals have hair and inner ear bones. Mammals are a well known vertebrate species which include rodents, carnivores, herbivores, sea animals, hoofed animals, humans and others. Mammals range in size from as big as a whale or an elephant to as small as a mouse or a bat. Understanding mammals is much easier since humans themselves are mammals, since there are about 5000 different species of mammals it is hard to learn all of them. One of the many interesting vertebrate species we studied was the pig who happens to share a lot of anatomy with the human. The respiratory system for example in the pig includes the nostrils and oral cavity, pharynx, trachea, glottis, lungs. Very similar with the human system, the pig absorbs air through the nasal openings or the oral cavity which then passes to the pharynx as it is traveling down it enters the glottis and from there goes to the trachea which sends it down to the lungs where it enters the bronchial tubes to the bronchioles and then into the alveoli with the reverse process applying for the exhale. • 20. The Role Of The French Revolution In Modern Day Europe Modern day Europe owes much of its concepts from the the French Revolution that started in 1789. At that time Europe was ruled by absolute monarchies, the clergy and the aristocracy, and the rural class was greatly suffering from over taxation and social injustice. The French Revolution was a crucial turning point in european history, both politically and economically and set Franceon a different path from the rest of Europe. Politically, the french revolutionallowed the absolute monarchy to be replaced by a republic while the Estates general was replaced by the National Assembly. Economically, the french revolution helped solidify the french economy through nationalizing the church lands and issuing assignats instead of paper money and left France stable for the years to come. During the Old Regime, France was ruled by Louis XVI under an absolute monarchy where the population was divided into three estates. The first was composed of the clergy, the second of the aristocracy and the third of the peasants. Each estate had one vote to cast for each decision and the clergy and the aristocracy would always outvote the third estate when it came to protecting their rights and the third estate would never benefit from this voting system. • 21. Police Scene Investigation And Reconstruction General Identifying Statement Crime scene investigation and reconstruction are both central aspects in the study of policing. By definition, a crime scene is a scene or place where an offence has been committed, and the site where forensic evidence is to be gathered in the pursuit of investigating the offence (Fisher, 2012, p.10). Fisher goes on to clarify that a crime scene may refer to a physical place that may provide potential evidence to an investigator. This is not limited to a location but rather may include a include a person s body, any type of building, vehicles, places in the open air or objects found at those locations. Fisher elaborates; explaining how hoth forensic and scientific techniques are used in order to preserve and obtain evidence of crime at the crime scene. (Fisher, 2012, p. 13). Lee and Palmbach (2001) point out that the processes involved in examining a crime scene does not need to be sophisticated or elaborate; instead, investigators need to concern themselves with adhering to the fundamental principles and procedures within crime scene investigation. It is important to remember that there is not a comprehensive plan or sole guiding principle when it comes to processing crime scenes (Pepper, 2010, p. 101). This being the case, exploring different protocols and methods that assist in forming a logical plan towards crime scene investigation is crucial in policing. • 24. A Comparison Of Hills Like White Elephants And Happy Endings Hills like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway and Happy Endings by Margaret Atwood share a gender oriented theme. They both show women struggling to attain equality against their male partners. This theme is depicted through the use of symbolism, point of view and plot conflict. Symbolically, Hills like White Elephants represents a choice. It is a life choice that can t be undone once it is made. This choice is about whether or not Jig, the female character of the story, should get an abortion. It supports the theme because if Jig chooses to keep the baby she is defying the wishes of her male partner, who is simply referred to as the man, and taking a stand for women by doing so. However it is not entirely clear what choice she makes at the end of the story. Her only words being, I feel fine...There s nothing wrong with me. I feel fine (216). The interpretation some people take for this is that she decided to keep the baby and chose to defy male domination. In Happy Endings the main symbols are how the relationships end be it cheating, age, or health complications. Cheating is symbolic of the relationship being dominated by only one person involved in it. Age is symbolic of both partners sharing or being equal in the relationship. Lastly health complications are a way of saying that fate, be it good or bad, can be involved, or that not everything works out according to plan. The main topics that are included in dependency theory are historical materialism connected with other critical traditions, a partnership between developed countries and developing countries, interaction between a core and a periphery. Dependency theory mainly is used to talk about Western societies and Third World countries. Foundation of the dependency theory is Marxism, also it prefigures post structuralism, and the dependency theory stands for opposite opinion about economical growth and its affect, than neoliberals do. The Dependency theory doesn t look at economical activities from positive side, especially when it is done by world s richest countries. Richest countries economical activities always affect poorer countries, especially they cause economical problems. The dependency theory has evolved from two main sources, first is from the United States and other is from Latin America. In the United States the dependency theory developed because of the socialist journal Monthly Review, where neo Marxist thoughts were summarized and were published a publications about different social organizations. Previously the dependency theory was called as theory of monopoly capitalism, but later it was recalled as we know it now. Abstract The present paper traces the origins of Thomas Pynchon s novel Vineland and Robert Coover s dramatic monologue Rip Awake to Washington Irving s short story Rip Van Winkle and attempts to analyze both adaptations. Though Irving s writing style has often been called exceedingly British sounding, his narratives are steeped in American history and the American way of life. Both Thomas Pynchonand Robert Coover on the other hand belong to the postmodern age and deal with experimental fiction in America. If Pynchon s fiction is described as encyclopedic, labyrinthine and convoluted then Coover s is termed otherworldly and surreal. Although Oedipus King cannot ascendancy what his future tense entail, he can control how he handle his prophecy. The mortgage and financial collapse of the United States economy had a very devastating impact on thousands upon thousands of Americans. I count myself as one who also had been affected as well. I was a bank manager with more than twenty years of banking experience and had decided during the spring of 1998 to move into a more lucrative career in the mortgageand real estate business. Having started my banking career as a teller, I had built great relationships with my employers and customers and was proud of what I had accomplished. However, upon hearing the news of yet another bank merger, I decided that I would train as a mortgage processor with one of the best mortgage providers in New Jersey. I was just not happy about the way that sub prime mortgages were presented to customers who did not fully understand what their particular mortgage note detailed. Therefore, the lessons that we have learned is that a buyer needs to be fully informed on how the process actually works. I recall one former client who was wiser than most, and she had decided that despite what the bank told her what she could afford ($140K) , she searched for a home priced ($100K) so she could afford it on her own. Years later, she told me about her husband s infidelity and sure enough he left their home within 14 months and she was stuck with the payments. Nevertheless, she made her payments and even though she was late several times, her resilience and determination paid off. She sold her house to a contractor for more than doubled its worth because of the two lots that the house was on. She had a success story. That is why it is very important to know what you are getting yourself into. I felt very sad when I would witness the lack of understanding of newly arrived immigrants who could barely understand the English language but there they were, trying to secure a mortgage loan. Full knowledge goes a long way and that is one of the reasons that I would refer clients to take a class on mortgage lending with one of the local realty agencies. Many of those ... Since the purpose of sex is procreation according the religious text, homosexuality is seen as an aberration of Allah s will which threatens Muslims with extinction. As a result, there is officially no room for homosexuality or homosexuals within Islam.43 Scholars of shari a, Islamic law, interpret homosexuality to be not merely a sin, but a crime as well. Despite this, there is no specific punishment for homosexuality; instead, the decision is left to the discretion of the ruling authorities. • 50. Arthur Dimmesdale Symbolism The character of the reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, despite the apparent single line interpretation of his character is a difficult phenomenon. Based on the topic of our analysis, first of all we have to find out if this image bears a symbolic meaning. In the case of Dimmesdale we don t speak about any sweeping generalizations that go beyond the narrative. This character remains in the circle of the known, to him puritanical notions of sin and punishment and the possibility of rebellion could never reach his mind.( Because Arthur perceives the world entirely through moral categories, he must see himself in just the same way as the crowd perceived Hester in the first scaffold scene: he is a sinner, nothing more ) The nature of this character is definitely not versatile for Hawthorne highlights in him only those qualities that are very close to each other: cowardice, timidity, lack of fortitude and listlessness. This suggests that Dimmesdale is nothing more than an allegory or even a schematic personification of an abstract concept. Scientists and paleontologists began contemplating how such densely populated creatures vanished. Currently, paleontologists debate the two main hypotheses of how the dinosaurs died from either the volcano activity or the asteroid impact. Both theories resulted in the same outcome yet differ in key elements such as, the physical evidence left behind encourages every conceivable clarification for the termination in charge of wiping out the dinosaurs.
