Spider M Turn Off The Dark
After a $75 million dollar investment, Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark premiered in the summer of
2011 at Foxwoods Theater. By the time the curtains opened to reveal the highly controversial show,
Spider Man had become the most expensive theatrical production ever produced in the world. The
show also opened to many negative reviews and infamous technical difficulties which included an
actor falling over 20 feet into the orchestra pit. The budget, which was originally planned at $51
million dollars, quickly snowballed out of hand after numerous delays and high operating costs.
However, this did not stop theatergoers from witnessing the controversial spectacle. Its Box office
numbers were strong, but it would take much more than solid ticket sales to turn over profit. By the
time Spider Man closed its doors, the production had lost over $60 million dollars, making it one of
the most iconic flops in Broadway history (Weiss). More than any recent production, Spider Man:
Turn Off The Dark highlights the financial risk that goes into producing a Broadway musical. Both
non profit theater and commercial theater are driven by financial factors. The risk and financial
dependency of American theater in the new century has influenced content that attempts to maximize
this financial return. Through its own economic ecosystem, Broadway theater production creates a
system that intertwines and supports both commercially viable spectacles and content driven non
profit theater. This essay will

Ever since I could remember there has always been an inclination towards science. The desire to
understand how things worked has always intrigued me. Set on the inclination I always explored the
basic application of science i.e. building a lemon battery to designing a simple pulley lift at science

Sprague-Dawley Rats
Sasser et al. reported the results of a two generation reproductive toxicity study in the form of a Final
Report (Sasser et al., 1989b) and as an open literature publication (Sasser et al., 1996b). In this study,
groups of Sprague Dawley rats (27 females and 20 males/group/generation) were gavaged with 0,
0.03, 0.1 or 0.4 mg/kg/day. Sasser et al. (1996b) report, that sulfur mustard was administered (by
gavage) to three groups of male and female rats prior to mating, during mating, and after mating, until
birth of the offspring, at which time the male rats were sacrificed. Sulfur mustard was administered to
the animals by intragastric intubations, 5 d/week through the mating period, which began at 13 weeks.

(1989b) indicates that the originally selected high dose level of 0.3 mg/kg d was initiated and because
no observable effects were apparent after 10 weeks of exposure , this dose was increased to 0.4 mg/kg

specified that both male and female rats were dosed before and during mating as well as through
gestation, because the manuscript indicates that male and female rats were dosed 5 days per week

that male rats were dosed 5 days per week during gestation, as during the mating and pre mating

Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead
Ayn Rand is the author responsible for The Fountainhead, a lengthy novel that describes the obstacles
that a brashly visionary architect, Howard Roark, faces in a collectivist society. Howard encounters
several characters during his journey, the most notable of which is the humanitarian Ellsworth Toohey,
who represents everything Roark abhors philanthropism, egalitarianism, and dependence on the
thoughts of others. A conversation between Toohey and Roark, if it can even be described as such,
explains The Fountainhead s central theme: the inherent liberation of one s soul through the
expression of individuality. The Fountainhead represents the struggle of the individual in a collective
state that approves neither creativity nor originality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses selflessness to commit the ultimate act of dehumanization. He bullies, manipulates, and takes
advantage of his blind followers who are brainwashed into becoming puppets and flatterers. Toohey s
victims no longer are able to think for themselves. For Toohey, the ultimate goal would be to also
exploit and corrupt Roark s values. Ellsworth Toohey lives by the following mantra: Tell man that he
must live for others...Not a single one of them has ever achieved it and not a single one ever will. His
every living impulse screams against it (page xx). Even Toohey himself acknowledges that such a way
of life is impossible. He preaches false ideals and a false utopia. Later on, Toohey describes the way in
which he collects power: If you learn how to rule one single man s soul, you can get the rest of
mankind. It s the soul, Peter, the soul. Not whips or swords or fire or guns. That s why the Caesars, the
Attilas, the Napoleons were fools and did not last. We will. The soul, Peter, is that which can t be
ruled. It must be broken. Drive a wedge in, get your fingers on it and the man is yours. (page xx)
Howard Roark on the other hand, feels no need to claim the souls of other individuals, not even that of
Dominique Francon. He understands and respects the private, unique quality of the soul. The soul is
the very defining characteristic of a man. The only soul Roark needs is his own.

Pros And Cons Of The American Constitution
The American Constitution, is a document that was drafted in July of 1787 to replace The Articles of
Confederation. The Constitution created a national government and established major laws to benefit
America. Along with these impressive actions, our Founding Fathers made sure this document
contained the ability for each individual citizen of America to have basic guaranteed rights. This
should stand for all citizens, not only those who are natural born. The Constitution, leaving out equal
opportunity and equal rights to those not born in America, essentially makes the document unfitting
for our current government and society. The Constitution has been amended and ratified twenty seven
times. For our country s current situation and diverse population, it is important that a Twenty Eighth
Amendment be put into place to give all citizens, natural born or not, all basic rights.
Although, this amendment does not directly benefit myself, I intend to amend Article 2 Section 1 of
The Constitution for the rights of my fellow Americans. This article states: that anyone born beyond
the seas is not eligible to run for presidency unless both his birth parents are citizens of the United
States. I believe this unfair and unfit article should be amended to give any citizen living in the
country for a minimum of 30 years even if the individual was born in and lived in another country.
Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution is states: No person except a natural born

Pros And Cons Of 3 Day Week
Don t you just love three day weekends? Getting more time off from school and having more time to
spend with friends and family. Studies have shown that four day weeks can improve the work
environment, from helping save money, to people getting better health. Although some people may
say that it is taking time away from learning, work, and other things, the pros are much greater than
the cons; therefore, every week should be a three day weekend. One reason why we should have 3 day
weekends every weekend is because it can save money. With four days, the work environment will be
cutting back on electricity. For example, lights, heating, cooling, etc. Furthermore, with a four day
school week, studies found that attendance went up for both students and teachers. Now schools are
only spending one third of what they were on substitute teachers. Also since 2007, the number of
school districts in colorado that chose to adopt a four day school week to save money rose by 30
percent! In the next 10 years, we may save up to 60 percent of our money. Finally, with less days of
the week, we won t have to pay for food for lunch, buses to get kids to get and from school, and clean
drinking water for the kids to stay hydrated. Another reason why switching to a 4 day week is because
it improves academic and morale performances. According to a paper, a fourth grade math scores went
up over the course of a 4 day school week. Also, work employees morale goes up because they get to
spend

Catch-22, by Joseph Heller
Catch 22 is a story about the different personalities that can be involved in a war. Out of all the
different archetypes, the three I ve chosen are John Yossarian, Albert Tappman, and Milo
Minderbinder, although, not in that order. The first character being analyzed is Yossarian, the
unwilling hero of this book. Although the book labels Yossarian as the main character, he constantly
tries to coward out of going to battle. The second character that will be described is Milo
Minderbinder, the archetypical business person of Catch 22.He runs the camp mess hall and controls
what everyone in the camp is buying, selling, and eating. Milo is constantly trying to control or
manipulate the economies around him, and after he gets a large commission ... Show more content on

It was like seditious and insidious too, and like socialist, suspicious, fascist and Communist. It was an
odious, alien, distasteful name, a name that just did not inspire confidence. It was not at all like such
clean, crisp, honest, American names such as Catchcart, Peckem and Dreedle. (Heller 210)
The quote above describes the relationship with Colonel Cathcart, in which Cathcart has a worrying
doubt about Yossarian and his role in the squadron. Yossarian complains to Doc Daneeka about
Colonel Cathcart s dictum regarding the mission count during every visit to the medical tent. Cathcart
s opinion about Yossarian also dawns upon the other men who start to wonder about the man with that
name and who he actually is. One of the main points within the story is when the soldiers question
Yossarian during the death of Lt. Mudd, whom the men continuously call the dead man in Yossarian s
tent (Heller 166). A character that changes Yossarian completely about war is Snowden. After
Snowden s death, Yossarian is given a medal of honor for fighting through that battle, but unlike the
other men, Yossarian shows up in a disorderly fashion. He realizes that he doesn t want to be in a war
like atmosphere anymore and starts to long for his trips throughout Italy. It is after these trips that
Yossarian tries to weasel his way out of the squadron by feigning sicknesses and pleading for Doc
Daneeka to claim him insane. Just because you re paranoid doesn t mean they aren t

Stockhausen Life and Works
Composer Karlheinz Stockhausen was born August 22, 1928 in the small town of Mödrath located just
west of Cologne Germany. He was the first child of three born to Simon and Gertrud Stockhausen.
Early in his life, the Stockhausen family struggled financially. Germany was in a low point of stability
after WWI and most people had trouble making ends meet. Simon Stockhausen, a teacher at the time,
was forced to move from one temporary post to another on average twice a year. Unfortunately in
1932 when he was four years old, Stockhausen s mother Gertrud was committed into a sanatorium.
This was likely due to the depression she encountered associated with the instability, poverty, and
having three children so close to one another. In 1935 Shortly after his wife became ill, Simon
Stockhausen was promoted to head teacher at a small village school located in Altenburg. The newly
formed Third Reich led by Adolf Hitler used him in this position to influence the local community by
spreading propaganda and organizing fundraisers for the new movement. Karlheinz Stockhausen
showed an early interest in music and the family piano. The family also owned a radio that young
Stockhausen listened to and attempted to imitate. When he was seven, Karlheinz was enrolled in
school and began his first piano lessons with the organist of the local Protestant church. He practiced
often and learned to play back music he heard on the radio.
In 1939 Karlheinz was refused admission to an elite high

strokes[1], minor and major, which affects each individual and their families. A stroke can take away
an individual s confidence and self independence meaning the individual will need care from medical
professionals and will have to undergo rehabilitation. The rehabilitation process for stroke patients
requires the patients to attend different specialists within a hospital depending on the severity of the
stroke and the damage it has caused to the patients. The patients may need to attend appointments with

Theme Of Revenge In Frankenstein
The Revenge of a Medieval Monster The reason for a decision made by The Monster or Victor
Frankenstein s creation, created one of the many themes revenge . Revenge is an interesting theme
that occurs in the book Frankenstein. There are many events that occur in the story that support this
theme. Revenge forms a very destructive feeling within the monster. The theme of revenge first
appears when the monster was mistreated by his creator, Victor Frankenstein. The monster then was
abandoned by the De Lacey family. The monster then decided to turn to revenge. The monster actions
are understandable because it has been abandoned and mistreated by humanity. Revenge truly effected
the monster in this novel. Revenge turned the monster into a real monster that had no feelings and
made him want to destroy his creator. The monster wanted revenge on Victor because he abandoned
and mistreated him. Also, Victor wasn t a good father figure, he didn t teach or care for his creation.
Cursed, cursed creator! Why did I live? Why, in that instant, did I not extinguish the spark of existence
which you had so wantonly bestowed? I know not; despair had not yet taken possession of me; my
feeling were those of rage and revenge. I could with my pleasure have destroyed the cottage and its
inhabitants and have glutted myself with their shrieks and misery (161). The monster was furious and
mad at Victor from how he was treated. He asked Victor why he had lived and asked himself why he

Critical Assessment of 3 Causes of World War 1
Critical Assessment of 3 Causes of World War 1
Nationalism is being a strong supporter of the rights and interests of one s country. It was very high in
the 19th century and nations which had not obtained independence by 1900 were determined to do so
as it gave groups of subject peoples the idea of forming independent nations of their own.
In 1815, the Congress of Vienna took place. This was a conference held in Vienna in Austria between
ambassadors from the major powers in Europe. This conference left people under the control of local
dynasts or other nations and ignored nationalism in favour of preserving the peace, however,
revolutions and strong nationalistic movements during the late ... Show more content on

The program called for autonomy and language rights but most importantly it asserted that Croats and
Serbs were a single people. This display of unity alarmed ruling circles but had little practical impact
at the time as Belgrade Serbs paid little attention to Croatian politics.
The ethnic tensions that were present in Croatia in the late 19th century were accompanied by a break
down in Austro Serbian relations driven by a crisis over trade. Since 1881 Austria had dominated
Serbia s foreign trade which consisted mostly of pigs driven to slaughterhouses in Hungary. By 1905,
84 percent of Serbia s exports were going to Austria Hungary and 53 percent of Serbia s imports were
from Austria Hungary. However, when they were at war Austria blocked Serbian pigs from entering
ports on the excuse that they carried diseases. This gave the Austro Serbian war the alternate name of
the Pig War .
Austro Serbian relations continued to deteriorate over Bosnia as well. Anti Habsburg secret societies
were popular among Bosnian Serbs and upon that The Black Hand came to. This was an extremely
dangerous Serbian nationalist society. The Black Hand was willing to sponsor all kinds of anti
Habsburg mischief in Bosnia and in the end supplied the weapons used in the

Arguments Against Illegal Immigration
Immigration has been a part of American History since the discovery of this beautiful land hundreds
of years ago. Who first colonized the Americas has been a great debate over the years by many
researchers. An Article in the National Geographic stated, Traditionally, Native Americans are
believed to have descended from northeast Asia, arriving over a land bridge between Siberia and
Alaska some 12,000 years ago and then migrating across North and South America. But recent
research, including the Baja California study, indicates that the initial settlement of the continent was
instead driven by Southeast Asians who occupied Australia 60,000 years ago and then expanded into
the Americas about 13,500 years ago, prior to Mongoloid people arriving from northeast Asia. Then as
we have learned in this course, the land was later settled by immigrants seeing religious freedom from
the English Parliament. These same people that fled the harsh conditions of England in the 1600 s
later went on to write the Constitution, one might argue that the constitution was written by illegal
immigrants. So why is immigration such a divided issue today? Many people believe that illegal aliens
are taxing on the American people, they drive up the crime rate in our cities and states, and they cause
the cost of car insurance rate to increase, and keep wages low, as well as consume the majority of the
resources available for low income families. But are these things really a threat to the country?
As mentioned before, many people who are opposed to illegal immigration believe that illegal
immigrants are taxing on the American tax payers. Taxes is a touch subject for a lot of people
especially those who make millions and have to pay thousands upon thousands to the IRS. There have
been numerous of actors and wealthy business people who have tried to go without paying taxes or
fled to another country to try to skip out on paying taxes, but the reality is that there is no getting
around it. As we know our founding fathers fought to be free from the taxes that Great Britain placed
on their goods and were successful. In this day in time we are now taxed on nearly everything we
purchase, but it is not to the point where we are paying more for

Infection control
Protective clothing including masks, gloves, gowns and goggles should be worn when coming into
contact with an infected person. The US Centres for Disease Control (CDC) recommend that the
protective gear leaves no skin exposed. These measures should be carried out for those who may
handle objects contaminated by an infected person s body fluids. In 2014, the CDC began
recommending that medical personnel receive training on the proper suit up and removal of personal
protective equipment (PPE); in addition, a designated person, appropriately trained in biosafety,
should be watching each step of these procedures to ensure they are done correctly. The typical
training period for the use of such safety equipment lasted approximately 12 days in Sierra Leone.
The infected person should be in separated from other people. All equipment, medical waste, patient
waste and surfaces that may have come into contact with body fluids need to be disinfected. During
the 2014 outbreak, kits were put together to help families treat Ebola disease in their homes, which
include protective clothing as well as chlorine powder and other cleaning supplies. Education of those
who provide care in these techniques, and the establishment of such barrier separation supplies has
been a priority of Doctors without Borders.

The Biblical Allusion of Lot s Wife in Slaughterhouse-Five...
Kurt Vonnegut s novel Slaughterhouse Five, uses the biblical allusion of Lot s wife looking back on
the destroyed cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to parallel the story of Billy Pilgrim during the war and
his experience after, when he returns to the United States. Although the reference is brief, it has
profound implications to the portrayal of America during World War II, especially the bombing of
Dresden. Although Lot s wife s action dooms her to turn into a pillar of salt, the narrator emphasizes
her choice to indicate the importance of being compassionate and having hindsight. Ultimately,
Slaughterhouse Five critiques the American social attitude to disregard the unjust nature of its actions
in World War II. Furthermore, Vonnegut s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This attitude refuses to place blame on American government or soldiers for the massacre of over a
hundred thousand civilians. It makes slaughter socially acceptable and necessary. The attitude,
championed by Rumfoord, does more than ignore the value of those lives lost, it refuses to
acknowledge the right of the soldiers who participated and witnessed firebombing to receive an
explanation for their actions. And, in both cases, innocents die or are unable to move forward from the
event. The allusion of Sodom and Gomorrah to Dresden is not a perfect parallel. God punishes Sodom
and Gomorrah because the whole city teems with corruption and sinfulness, while Dresden represents
the Nazi empire, but is not an inherently sinful place. However, the death of each implicates a loss of
innocence. The Nazism is evil, but the people of Dresden represent a complicated evil. They may be
part of the Nazi empire, but they act in a morally acceptable and socially upstanding manner. This
imperfect parallel further gives evidence that America acts in an evil way, even in combating evil. The
novel illustrates this by the industry located in Dresden: The syrup was enriched with vitamins and
minerals. The syrup was for pregnant women (203). The text offers that Americans kill neither sinners
nor heralds of sin, but those

Hiroshima And The Atomic Bomb
On August 6th, 1945, the United States of America dropped the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, Japan.
This bomb decimated over two hundred thousand Japanese citizens, and caused the Empire of Japan
to surrender ending World War II. In his book Hiroshima, John Heresy reveals the stories of six
survivors, and how their lives were changed following the bombing. As you might expect, the time
succeeding the attack was rather hectic. Even more so for physicians and nurses, as thousands of
people were rushing towards them for medical assistance. Two physicians, Dr. Masakazu Fujii, and
Dr. Terufumi Sasaki, have survived to tell their stories. Dr. Fujii ran a hospital that overlooked a river.
When the bomb exploded, Dr. Fujii was blown off his feet and landed in the water along with the
remnants of his hospital. Dr. Sasaki was much luckier than Dr. Fujii, because he remained uninjured
and immediately started caring for those close to him. At the time the bomb exploded, Reverend Mr.
Kiyoshi Tanimoto is helping a friend move his daughter s belongings and Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge,
who was recently suffering from a stomach illness, was resting on his porch. Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura
had three children, and when the bomb exploded, she was looking out the window. She gathers her
children from the wreckage, and takes them to Asano Park, which was designed for use as an
evacuation area. Miss Toshiko Sasaki is a clerk, and when the bomb exploded, was at her office.

Wisconsin Rock Formation Essay
Wisconsin contains rocks ranging from around 359 million years all the way to 2.8 billion years old.
Fortunately, this wide range of rocks has patterns in their placement across the state. If one were to dig
down to solid rock, in general, the age of upper most rocks layers increases in age going from west to
east, and also from south to north. The history of the formation of Wisconsin to its present day
condition happed through major geological events such as various tectonic processes, sedimentation,
metamorphism, and glaciation. Let s walk through the major events that have come to define
Wisconsin geology. The oldest rocks in Wisconsin are in the northern most part of the state near
Ontario and they range from 2.8 1.0 billion years old. These rocks formed when North American

During rifting of continents around 2.4 billion years ago, major passive margin, continental plate
drifting apart to form mid ocean ridge, was produced throughout Wisconsin. By, 1.875 billion years,
the margin became a subduction zone, boundary where tectonic plates collide, this resulted in banded
Iron Formation rocks(BIFs) being deposited in northernmost Wisconsin. Through time, these BIFs
have become metamorphosed and deformed. While this was happening, around 1.85 billion years ago
an island arc, oceanic islands with intense volcanic activities, crashed into the continent. Later on
around 1.84 billion years ago another continental crustal body crashed into the continent. These

There is an idiom in China that says People make food their Heaven , which means everyone needs
food to survive but also means people take comfort and pride in their food in many ways. However,
nowadays, the position of food changes, and it seems not as important as before. Food production has
become industrialized and plants have been grown with more problems. Most people didn t realize
this and they continued this process. Then, problems appeared like flooding. However, there are still
some people feel the significance of the problems. Mark Bittman, bestselling cookbook author,
journalist and television personality, gave a speech What s wrong with what we eat to reveal why we

Pollan and Hastings et al gave their idea on sugar and diabetes while Bittman did concern a little. Just
take a glance at some statics now. 25.8 million children and adults in the United States 8.3% of the
population have diabetes. 1.9 million new cases of diabetes are diagnosed in people aged 20 years and
older in 2010. (Cited from http://www.diabetes.org/diabetes basics/diabetes statistics/) Seriously,
syrup is the culprit and we can see it everywhere from drinks, snacks, food, and oil. Hastings et al call
syrup empty calories because syrup can t give people any benefit; otherwise people still need to do a
lot exercise to burn those calories. In the Deadly Noodles , Hastings et al said in both developed and
developing countries, people are doing less and less activities, so diabetes always trouble people there.
Compared with Hastings et al, Michael Pollan is a real detective at this issue, who see the truth for
why there is growing more diabetes. He said generally, it s us, not something else, are doing
contributing to the diseases. Government over subsidizes on crops especially on crop syrup, then
syrup becomes cheaper and is used more comprehensively in producing what people eat every day,
and finally, as people consume more, they get bigger possibility to get diabetes. That s the problem,
and Pollan said that one in three Americans born in the year

The Little Glass Slipper Essay
In the radical marxist analysis of Charles Perrault s, The Little Glass Slipper , Cinderella and even

aristocracy, and comes out a part of the proletariat shows how easy Perrault makes it to become part of
the aristocracy. Cinderella then again deceives the Prince with her materials possessions showing even
a Prince, a major part of the aristocracy, can mix up beautiful princess and a peasant girl merely based

White Television History
The transition from radio to black and white television enlightened people since they were able to get
live footage of events Although television was first regarded by many as radio with pictures, public
reaction to the arrival of TV was strikingly different from that afforded the advent of radio
(Thompson). Television start was in 1948 to 1959 which was termed The Golden Age due to the fact
that there was advances in technology and was considered a period of higher quality Until the fall of
1948, regularly scheduled programming on the four networks the American Broadcasting Company
(ABC), the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS; later CBS Corporation), the National Broadcasting
Co. (NBC), and the DuMont Television Network, which folded in 1955 was scarce (Thompson).

that TV might also become the dominant form of political discourse (Thompson). Around this same
time television was improving and in 1954 the first color television set was sold. Television were
formally sold as sets that came with an antenna and knobs to change the channels or raise the volume.
This time was one of innovation and there was no stopping what was to come Nevertheless, the age of
television took off in the 1950s, using by and large the same technology worldwide, although its take

Australian Stereotype
Representations of the Australian Persona
‘Mateship
A key element of what is presented to be the Australian character is that of camaraderie, base
friendliness towards everybody, and egalitarianism, the belief that everybody is equal and should have
the same opportunities, treatment, etc. as everybody else. As such, Australians are very supportive of
democracy, compulsory voting, and are generally, in most cases, unprejudiced towards each other
based on such trivialities as, for example, social class – everybody will kick back together at the pub
for a ‘coldie in that ‘typical Aussie scene , described so well in the quote by Australian legend
Henry Lawson, one of the best known Australian poets and fiction writers of the colonial ... Show

Australian casual English, like African American speech, is one of the most complex forms of English
slang, and not always so easy to understand. Phrases such as G day Mate and Chuck a shrimp on the
barbie are well known internationally as being ‘Australian , having been made popular by Paul
Hogan s representation in the 1986 internationally highest grossing film Crocodile Dundee. Numerous
examples of the frequent use of common Australian slang can be found in the six book series Western
Wildcats by Australian author John Larkin, e.g. where phrases such as But not any more, but. is
characteristic one of the main characters, known as ‘Splinters – even when talking to the Queen of
England. In the same series, another character, Eric, is ranting about what is seen as the norms of
Australian society and the persona that is represented to be Australian, and as a part of his tirade states
Somebody who doesn t end every sentence with ‘You Know , you know?
Australian slang seems to be bent on taking the shortest, easiest possible route for words to come out
of the speaker s mouth, shortening everything to the minimum amount of syllables possible. A cup of
coffee (or tea) becomes a ‘cuppa , football becomes footy etc. This style of common Australian
speech has its roots, once again, in Australia s heritage as a convict colony – a majority of the people

The New Exciting Beauties Of Mary Fleming s The Airship...
Even when individual parties are detailed, descriptions hold no more excitement or beauty. Whilst
Anne Fleming admits Evelyn sadly confided that he got no pleasure from natural beauty , his
description of the airship party focuses upon how new modern beauty defies natural beauty. Acres of
inflated silk blotted out the sky and lights of other cars arriving lit up the uneven grass. This holds a
certain nostalgia for pastoral beauty, and with the country landscapes of Hetton and Brideshead
casting a great aesthetic influence in later novels, perhaps Waugh already senses here that any
excitement of technological beauty is fleeting, and as the ugliness of war looms, a hankering for
beauties past sinks in. The new exciting beauties prove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The description of Brenda applying makeup is deliberately unpleasant, as she spat into the eye black
and choked slightly. This language implies that creating the illusion of beauty requires uncomfortable
effort, and the ugliness of her adulterous intent struggles to reveal itself from beneath it. For Waugh, to
highlight the ugliness of adulterous women was biographically motivated, due to the revelation of his
wife s adultery during his writing process. This only adds to his association with decadence according
to Freud, whom Charles Bernheimer suggests thought contemporary decadence resulted from people
having too little sex rather than too much. So sceptical is Waugh of any positivity in female beauty
that in Vile Bodies the term pretty gains negative connotations. Adam ridiculously deems Mary Mouse
and the Maharajah a pretty pair as they publicly make love on the airship balcony. The negative use of
the term is only furthered when Chastity in the prettiest way possible simpers to the drunk major
against the ugliness of the war backdrop. Thus Women s prettiness is a fickle attempt to disguise the
ugliness around them. The sense of pretty is by its very nature shallow and transient, it s sentiment far
from the stunning or the gorgeous that true beauty in romantic literature holds. Indeed, Waugh taps
into another Romantic poetic conceit here. The

The usage of the setting, specifically with props featured played a role in the revelation of the
narrative/storyline. This was featured during the sequence in which we are introduced to Evey s job. In
this sequence, One of Evey s supervisors open a package that was addressed to the same supervisor.
Immediately, Evey witnesses (what appears to be one of many duplicates of the same mask in V s
possession) V s mask in a package that was recently shipped to her workplace. This is the same mask
she witnessed when she had her first encounter with V in the previous night (V saving her from the
fingermen and V taking her on top of a roof so she would see the detonation of The Old Bailey).
Considering how her life was significantly altered after she came across V, seeing the mask provided a
sense of foreshadow that her life was going to be altered for a second time. In fact, this is exactly what
takes place as V storms the news station for a second time and has the news station in frenzy. Once
this happens, V takes Evey from the news station this altering her life for a second time. This
advanced the narrative by allowing Evey and V to have their lives officially merge for the long term
(not simply just a short term encounter). This is a representation of McTeigue presenting a realist style

This torment is best expressed by the haze, dizzy fog, and callous gaze, that she describes when trying
to choose her words
(9, 10, 11). Also, since she s Longing, Desperate to show, and Searching, her desire for the right words
is very strong. These components provide a strong thematic thread that was imitated from Sydney s
poem. His desire for effective expression is shown when he sought fit words, and tried to see if thence
would flow (5, 7). Both poets are inhibited by their tendency to censor and over analyze their work,
thus preventing themselves from free expression. Luckily, both poets come to a realization that the
only way to truly express themselves is to write from their heart.
The diction in Hidden Heart helps create imagery and a tone that is characteristic of what the poet is
feeling. The words bleed, stain, and wound, all connect to paint a picture of pain. Bleed and wound are
used to illustrate the temporary nature of Natalie s anxiety during the writing process, while stain
emphasizes the permanent quality of the letter and the importance of its effectiveness (1,2). In
contrast, Sydney places contradictory words side by side to subtly create tension. Words like
pity/grace, halting/forth, and burned/ brain, add to the strain and pressure that Astrophil feels (4, 8, 9).
Also, Natalie uses harsher words

Equal Citizen And Gender Status
equal citizen. This approach requires an expansion of the meaning of equality to include all choices
people make in their lives. If we look at it in this way, equality means the right not to have one s life
split between career and family. It also means the right to control one s own social roles. From an
inequality perspective, the test in any case would be whether the policy or practice in question
integrally contributes to the maintenance of an underclass or a deprived position because of gender
status. If the law continues to contribute to the repression of women, the court must then deliberate if
the law has a substantial impact on perpetuating the inequality of women. If so, the court must use the
strict scrutiny analysis to see if the law is reasonable in having a compelling state interest. Therefore,
the inequality test moves away from the current equal protection analysis in that is does not need to
have a link between similarly situated classes of people. This difference is important because laws that
govern reproductive biology rule ways in which women and men are not similarly situated. Moreover,
this test demands a strict security analysis of cases that perpetuate the oppression of women, rather
than the intermediate scrutiny analysis, which is, applied to all gender cases. Therefore, things that
make men and women different like pregnancy or sexuality would automatically prompt strict
scrutiny. From this new equality perspective then, the abortion question

Becoming A Collegiate Or Professional Athlete
Many individuals grow up dreaming of becoming a collegiate or professional athlete. However, no
one achieves either level by chance. It takes talent, a desire to achieve greatness, and a willingness to
compete against other talented individuals to prove oneself in the world of sports. The growth of
eSports has created a new way in which to become a collegiate or professional athlete. The term
athlete, however, is filled with stereotypes. Many deem athletes as those trained or skilled in sports,
games, or exercises requiring strength, flexibility, and stamina. While video gamers may not be as
physically strong, they are highly skilled in a game, can be flexible, and definitely demonstrate
stamina. Consequently, video game players should be considered athletes at the collegiate and

Like a PPO, Marty can mix the types of care he receives. Also, Marty would pay only a nominal
amount for network care. When Marty choose to use network providers, there is generally no
deductible. If Marty chooses to go outside the POS network for treatment, he is free to see any doctor
or specialist he chooses without first consulting his primary care physician (PCP). Of course, Marty
will have to pay substantially more out of pocket charges for non network care. Healthcare costs paid
out of his own pocket (deductibles and co payments) are typically limited. The average yearly limit for
individuals is around $2,400. I think having to pay $2,400 a year for a health insurance plan is cheaper

between these two approaches. The article concludes that these two approaches have differences more

BPR considered as radical redesign of processes and eliminated the old processes by introducing new
one. Many misconceptions and misapplications were associated to BPR at that time.
Many organizations assumed BPR as another name of downsizing and an excuse of restructuring. But
the Hammer Champy who are proponents of BPR refused to accept this assumption. Some criticism
were highlighted with this approach that it ignores the human element and made many jobs redundant
by shifting processes to computers. But again the Hammer Champy supported the BPR and argued
that BPR practices failed when it is not implemented properly. Empowerment of employees is
considered as a key to success of this approach.

Chemiluminol Synthesis Lab Report
Abstract During the experiment, there were two tasks performed; the synthesization of luminol and the
display of chemiluminescence. The starting material used was 5 nitro 2,3 dihydrophthalazine 1,4
dione, and after the addition of NaOH, sodium hydrosulfite, acetic acid and water, we were left with
the product of crude luminol.1 Then, the crude luminol was dissolved into a stock solution that
contained NaOH.1 That stock solution A was then diluted with water, which turned it into solution A.1
That solution was then combined with solution B, a mixture made from potassium ferricyanide and
hydrogen peroxide then diluted with water, which allowed us to observe the blue light emission that

Galtianism And Temperance
Merriam Webster defines temperance as a moderation in action, thought, or feeling; to have restraint.
In the Bible it means being able to master your own desires; to not be puppeteered by your peers, by
the world s offerings, or by your own motives and passions! It is an internal restraint. Galatians 5:22
introduces us to the Fruit of The Spirit and temperance is one of those fruit. Viewing fruit from the
natural sense; we know that fruit is beneficial to the body. Nutritionists have gone as far to categorize
fruit and label some as Super Fruit . These types of fruit have additional health benefits that not all

directly becomes new idols of this generation. Who does not know big names like Jennifer Lawrence,
Josh Hutcherson, or Liam Hemsworth? Everybody with technology must know them or at least heard
of them. Following in that success path is Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth. The trilogy also comes
from young adult novels. Many people argue that both trilogy share similar characteristics despite
there are also some things that differ them. The first similarity that Divergent and The Hunger Games
has is they both achieve massive success. When it first released in 2012, The Hunger Games
immediately got top rank in the box office. The movie earned total of $691,247,768 worldwide
(Wikipedia, 2012). The following year, its sequel, Catching Fire, came out in public. The trilogy
continued its success even more proven by getting more earnings worldwide. Mockingjay, which is
the last novel of the trilogy is scheduled to premiere separately in 2014 and 2015 because the director
decided to split the movie into two parts. Divergent, which just

Essay on Contemplating Sartre s No Exit
Contemplating Sartre s No Exit
In No Exit, Sartre provides a compelling answer to the problem of other minds through the medium of
drama. He puts two women (Inez and Estelle) in one hotel room with one man (Garcin) for all of
eternity. This is his concept of hell, and he makes this point in one of the last few lines of the play:
Hell is other people! There are no torture racks or red hot pitchforks in hell because they re after an
economy of man power or devil power if you prefer. Each person is there (in hell) for a specific
reason: Garcin because he cheated on and tormented his wife, Estelle because she killed her own child
and her lover, then committed suicide, and Inez because she tormented (female) lover until that ...

It is important to note that Garcin s main fear in life was the fear of being cowardly, and this motivated
the majority of his actions, e.g. most of his actions were preformed to demonstrate to himself and
others that he is/was manly ; for instance, his conquests of multiple women, his domination and
degradation of his wife, and the way he courted danger at every turn. However, he performed a
cowardly action (fled the country when war broke out) which, when he was caught, led to a cowardly
death which he defines as merely a physical lapse.
Additionally, Estelle finds another way to seek approval: she needs Garcin s approval (as the only man
there) to establish her superiority over Estelle as an object of desire, by comparison with Inez, the
lesbian.
Finally, Inez does the same thing, although in a different form, as Estelle and Garcin. She seeks
approval over Estelle as a strong, dominant, hones woman, as compared to Estelle, who is a weak,
subservient, dishonest woman. Although Inez criticizes Estelle for having a male dominated
personality (which since Inez is a lesbian, she does not), Inez does not realize that she herself has an
other dominated personality.
No Exit also does a fine job of expressing Sartre s idea of negation in his philosophy of existentialism.
Each person negate the person who is attracted to her through the process of denying that person.
However, each person also negates the person whom the

Analysis Of Hedda Gabler By Henrik Ibsen
Ambiguity is a continuous battle within everyone s mind. People are constantly pondering about one s
trustworthiness. Human beings are always questioning one another s intentions and if there exists an
ulterior motive in one s mind. Trust is not easily earned from one another. This kind of motif is shown
in many works of literature. For example, Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen shows the ways of character
moral ambiguity and its way in deceiving others; this is shown through the character Judge Brack.
Judge Brack is portrayed to be a good friend of George Tesman and Hedda Gabler Tesman, a
psychological trickster and manipulator who is ultimately revealed to be a morally ambiguous
character.
Judge Brack is introduced into Hedda Gabler as a man of authority, which allows him to able to aid
George Tesman and act as his financial planner. As a great help to Tesman and Hedda, the couple can t
thank you [Judge Brack] sufficiently in expressing their gratitude and the great help that Brack is,
being a man of power (Ibsen 20). By lending a hand to George and Hedda, this exploits the friendship
between the three characters. If Judge Brack was not a friend to the couple, then he would not assist
them in their accumulating debt. It is shown that Judge Brack does help George regarding his financial
needs even when they are involved with Eilert Lövborg, the professor. Although Hedda does
acknowledge Brack s effort in improving her and her husband s financial situation by

The Theory Of Economy And The Validity Of Emh
To the extent to which you depart from that equality, if it is in your opponents favor, you are a fool,
and if in your own, you are unjust. Although the notion of market efficiency has albeit rudimentarily
been dealt with since the 16th century , it was only when Eugene Fama published his PhD and his
subsequent article Efficient Capital Markets: A Review of Theory and Empirical Work in 1970 that the
Efficient Market Hypothesis (hereafter EMH) was established. The fundamental argument offered by
EMH proposes that the multiplicity and interaction of fully rational economic actors within a market
will lead to the elimination of disparities between market prices and actual values and allow the
former to randomly fluctuate around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being that news and exogenous shocks are by nature erratic, prices will share their randomness.
Accordingly, as stipulated by the rational expectations model, investors will act in response to
financial shocks mindful of the latters macroeconomic consequences. Furthermore, both efficiency
and rationality have relative connotations within the economy and are contingent to different levels of
market friction. Campbell, Lo, and MacKinley echo this view and argue that the concept of relativity
is a more useful approach than the absolutist interpretations seen in traditional economic literature.
Markets can, thus, still be efficient even if certain economic agents are irrational or if price volatility
of assets cannot be grounded by fundamentals. Since certain market participants are irrational, specific
stock market trades will not be based on a rational evaluation. Yet, Fama s sophisticated trader
argument finds that the impact of the rational agents within the market is powerful enough to
minimize the departure of actual prices from their fundamental value. Fama expanded EMH into three
distinct forms weak, semi strong and strong form to allow the hypothesis to be tested in financial
analyses. The form that is perceived, however, as the most reflective of EMH and will be employed by
the paper is the semi strong. This form of market efficiency

Essay On The DACA Deal
The DACA Deal: Finding a Place for America s Dreamers
Congress, get ready to do your job DACA! Trump exclaimed in one of his tweets on Tuesday
morning, September 5th.
This tweet is referencing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or more commonly known as
DACA. This immigration policy, formed in 2012 by the Obama administration, specifically targets
people who illegally entered the US as children. These children, often times referred to as Dreamers ,
are protected from immediate deportation under DACA by granting them deferred action status as
long as they meet the criteria of DACA. This status only lasts for two years, but recipients can renew
their status. Those protected by DACA also receive work permits, and while ... Show more content on

According to PBS, roughly 800,000 people will be affected by DACA s repeal. Some moderate
republicans also aren t in favor of repealing DACA. The chief opponents of repealing DACA are the
left, such as senator Bernie Sanders, who has stated that repealing DACA would be one of the ugliest
and craziest decisions ever made by a president.
On the other hand, supporters of repealing DACA also have their own reasons for wanting to get rid of
the act. Some believe that DACA is a legal concern. Current Attorney General Jeff Sessions, in a press
briefing discussing getting rid of DACA, stated this about removing DACA.
This policy was implemented unilaterally to great controversy and legal concern after Congress
rejected legislation proposals to extend similar benefits on numerous occasions to this same group of
illegal aliens.... The executive branch, through DACA, deliberately sought to achieve what the
legislative branch specifically refused to authorise on multiple occasions. Such an open ended
circumvention of immigration laws was an unconstitutional exercise of authority by the Executive
Branch.
Others state that the immigrants protected under DACA are stealing jobs that could have gone to
american citizens. Also, in June multiple conservative states threatened to sue the Trump
administration if DACA was not repealed, considered to be the jumpstart for repealing DACA, as
those states bear the brunt of immigration. Repealing DACA will

Goals of the Organization
Setting clear goals is a primary step that an organization needs to take to succeed. This is important as
it ensures that the organization has a clear vision on what it wants to achieve at different stages of
growth.
It also helps in defining the yardsticks, usually quantifiable measures that we can use to objectively
monitor the progress made by the organization and help in determining if its policies and structures
are working as intended.
Finally identifying your goals effectively helps in motivating the employees and improves
communication processes both internal and outside public relations.
Let us now look at the goals which Goldman Sachs has set for itself, identified from its vision amp;

* To be good corporate citizens and make a difference to the society
Goldman Sachs partners various organizations involved with uplifting the society and caring for the
environment. It does so by providing both human resources through its programs like Community
team works amp; 10000 small businesses initiative and monetary help through it Goldman Sachs gives
and matching gifts programs apart from various sponsorships and scholarships.
Technology at Goldman Sachs
Goldman Sachs considers technology to be one of the biggest disrupters in the coming times and has
hence invested considerably in sprucing it up. It has divided it into two components: * Technology for
Financial systems: The main focus is primarily on two things here: * Increasing speeds: To counter the
growing tribe of boutique high frequency trading firms, Goldman Sachs has developed its own
modeling language Slang and a corresponding database called Securities database which gives it an
edge of multi milliseconds over its rivals for similar models. * Automating the entire trade flows and
other processes: This ensures that there is lesser scope for error and is able to handle larger volumes of
trading. It is built in a modular manner thereby ensuring that different systems having different
functionalities are separate from each other and thus failure of one node may not necessarily affect the
others. * Technology for non financial systems: These include

The Silk Road Essay
The Silk Road was an intricate and evolving network of overland trade routes that linked China, India,
and western Eurasia for centuries. The trade route was key to the diffusion and transportation of
technology, goods, religions, and language throughout Asia, the Mediterranean, Africa and southern
Europe. As the strongest link between major population centers in the largest landmass on earth, the
Silk Road was one of the most important of all long distance trade routes in human history.
Study of the Silk Road has made it obvious that Eurasian history was more than isolated histories of
Mesopotamia, Egypt, Europe, India, Southeast Asia, and China. In reality, for several thousand years,
the Silk Road ensured that these regions were never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But it was difficult for them to grow and store crops, so most traded with farming communities at the
edge of their grazing lands. The pastoralists would exchange livestock products for agricultural
produce and manufactured goods. This way, pastoralists gradually created far reaching systems of
trade that from Siberia to India and from China to the Mediterranean. With the spread of pastoralism,
Inner Eurasia now had channels of communication across Eurasia.
Early evidence of trade along the Silk Roads comes from the so called Oxus civilization, a group of
fortified farming and trading cities built about 4,000 years ago on the borders between modern
Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Archaeologists have found Chinese silks and goods from
India and Mesopotamia, and pottery and ornaments from Inner Eurasia. The archaeological evidence
leans toward the idea of cooperation between urban merchants and pastoralists. Over time,
sophisticated systems of trade emerged that was organized in caravans sometimes with hundreds of
individuals, often financed by urban merchants, and supplied with manufactured goods and the region
s specialties. At least by the first millennium BCE, caravans could stop at special rest stops known as
caravansaries founded by local rulers or merchants. Caravansaries offered bunks, repair workshops,
food, and information

The Influence Of Stereotyping
When we first meet a new person, we are all guilty of creating judgements and stereotypes based on
things such as culture, appearance, and initial personality. Someone meeting me for the first time
would likely judge my culture by labeling me as white, a country girl, a Christian, Midwestern, and a
blonde. Individual stereotypes they would initially give me might include, young, quiet, mature,
weird, and caring. Stereotyping can be found all around us. It is constantly in the media, including the
Internet, television, and movies. Family and friends certainly influences our initial thoughts about
others, too. The people that we spend time with and trust are often those that we tend to reflect. For
example, I come from a pretty welcoming family, so I tend to be open when I meet new people. ...

Jack Sparrow And The Golden Age Of Piracy
The Golden Age of Piracy is the subject of many Hollywood films. One of the most popular film
series in recent years is the series Pirates of the Caribbean. But how accurately does the movie capture
the Golden Age of Piracy that spanned from the 1650 s to the 1730 s? In order to answer this question,
a team of researchers will examine the mythology, the pirate s code, the weapons, and compare real
pirates to the main protagonist, Jack Sparrow in the movie to see if he closely resembles the pirates of
real life. Pirates are associated with many things including treasure, their code, their weapons, and the
mythology. In the movie the Black Pearl s crew kidnap the daughter of the governor of Port Royal,
Jamaica (under English rule). Jack Sparrow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chain and bar shots were used to rip through sails, masts, and rigging. They were loaded into cannons.
The chain shot had two balls with a chain in between the balls, the bar shot had a bar between two
metal balls. Round shots were little balls put in cannons that had a splintering effect on the ship, these
shots were aimed for the hull. In the movie there were a few shots of Barbossa s crew stuffing in all of
these shots and shooting them at Captain Jack sparrows ship. They also included how much damage
these shots made on the ships in the movie. This next weapon is a classic pirate weapon, a cannon.
They were huge metal almost like shooters that could be loaded with things to shoot at ships. This
weapon was spotted many times in the movie during ship fights. Cutlery, like forks and knives, were
stuffed in cannons if pirates didn t have any chain, bar, or round shots. They stuffed anything in a
cannon that looked sharp and ready to do some damage. Captain Jack Sparrow s crew did not have
any weapons for the cannons so they used cutlery in their cannons, this action is historically

  • 2. Spider M Turn Off The Dark After a $75 million dollar investment, Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark premiered in the summer of 2011 at Foxwoods Theater. By the time the curtains opened to reveal the highly controversial show, Spider Man had become the most expensive theatrical production ever produced in the world. The show also opened to many negative reviews and infamous technical difficulties which included an actor falling over 20 feet into the orchestra pit. The budget, which was originally planned at $51 million dollars, quickly snowballed out of hand after numerous delays and high operating costs. However, this did not stop theatergoers from witnessing the controversial spectacle. Its Box office numbers were strong, but it would take much more than solid ticket sales to turn over profit. By the time Spider Man closed its doors, the production had lost over $60 million dollars, making it one of the most iconic flops in Broadway history (Weiss). More than any recent production, Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark highlights the financial risk that goes into producing a Broadway musical. Both non profit theater and commercial theater are driven by financial factors. The risk and financial dependency of American theater in the new century has influenced content that attempts to maximize this financial return. Through its own economic ecosystem, Broadway theater production creates a system that intertwines and supports both commercially viable spectacles and content driven non profit theater. Sprague-Dawley Rats Sasser et al. reported the results of a two generation reproductive toxicity study in the form of a Final Report (Sasser et al., 1989b) and as an open literature publication (Sasser et al., 1996b). In this study, groups of Sprague Dawley rats (27 females and 20 males/group/generation) were gavaged with 0, 0.03, 0.1 or 0.4 mg/kg/day. Sasser et al. (1996b) report, that sulfur mustard was administered (by gavage) to three groups of male and female rats prior to mating, during mating, and after mating, until birth of the offspring, at which time the male rats were sacrificed. • 6. Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead Ayn Rand is the author responsible for The Fountainhead, a lengthy novel that describes the obstacles that a brashly visionary architect, Howard Roark, faces in a collectivist society. Howard encounters several characters during his journey, the most notable of which is the humanitarian Ellsworth Toohey, who represents everything Roark abhors philanthropism, egalitarianism, and dependence on the thoughts of others. A conversation between Toohey and Roark, if it can even be described as such, explains The Fountainhead s central theme: the inherent liberation of one s soul through the expression of individuality. The Fountainhead represents the struggle of the individual in a collective state that approves neither creativity nor originality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He uses selflessness to commit the ultimate act of dehumanization. He bullies, manipulates, and takes advantage of his blind followers who are brainwashed into becoming puppets and flatterers. Toohey s victims no longer are able to think for themselves. For Toohey, the ultimate goal would be to also exploit and corrupt Roark s values. Ellsworth Toohey lives by the following mantra: Tell man that he must live for others...Not a single one of them has ever achieved it and not a single one ever will. His every living impulse screams against it (page xx). Even Toohey himself acknowledges that such a way of life is impossible. He preaches false ideals and a false utopia. Later on, Toohey describes the way in which he collects power: If you learn how to rule one single man s soul, you can get the rest of mankind. It s the soul, Peter, the soul. Not whips or swords or fire or guns. That s why the Caesars, the Attilas, the Napoleons were fools and did not last. We will. The soul, Peter, is that which can t be ruled. It must be broken. Drive a wedge in, get your fingers on it and the man is yours. (page xx) Howard Roark on the other hand, feels no need to claim the souls of other individuals, not even that of Dominique Francon. He understands and respects the private, unique quality of the soul. The soul is the very defining characteristic of a man. The only soul Roark needs is his own. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Pros And Cons Of The American Constitution The American Constitution, is a document that was drafted in July of 1787 to replace The Articles of Confederation. The Constitution created a national government and established major laws to benefit America. Along with these impressive actions, our Founding Fathers made sure this document contained the ability for each individual citizen of America to have basic guaranteed rights. This should stand for all citizens, not only those who are natural born. The Constitution, leaving out equal opportunity and equal rights to those not born in America, essentially makes the document unfitting for our current government and society. The Constitution has been amended and ratified twenty seven times. For our country s current situation and diverse population, it is important that a Twenty Eighth Amendment be put into place to give all citizens, natural born or not, all basic rights. Although, this amendment does not directly benefit myself, I intend to amend Article 2 Section 1 of The Constitution for the rights of my fellow Americans. This article states: that anyone born beyond the seas is not eligible to run for presidency unless both his birth parents are citizens of the United States. I believe this unfair and unfit article should be amended to give any citizen living in the country for a minimum of 30 years even if the individual was born in and lived in another country. Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution is states: No person except a natural born ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Pros And Cons Of 3 Day Week Don t you just love three day weekends? Getting more time off from school and having more time to spend with friends and family. Studies have shown that four day weeks can improve the work environment, from helping save money, to people getting better health. Although some people may say that it is taking time away from learning, work, and other things, the pros are much greater than the cons; therefore, every week should be a three day weekend. One reason why we should have 3 day weekends every weekend is because it can save money. With four days, the work environment will be cutting back on electricity. For example, lights, heating, cooling, etc. Furthermore, with a four day school week, studies found that attendance went up for both students and teachers. Now schools are only spending one third of what they were on substitute teachers. Also since 2007, the number of school districts in colorado that chose to adopt a four day school week to save money rose by 30 percent! In the next 10 years, we may save up to 60 percent of our money. Finally, with less days of the week, we won t have to pay for food for lunch, buses to get kids to get and from school, and clean drinking water for the kids to stay hydrated. Another reason why switching to a 4 day week is because it improves academic and morale performances. According to a paper, a fourth grade math scores went up over the course of a 4 day school week. Also, work employees morale goes up because they get to spend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Catch-22, by Joseph Heller Catch 22 is a story about the different personalities that can be involved in a war. Out of all the different archetypes, the three I ve chosen are John Yossarian, Albert Tappman, and Milo Minderbinder, although, not in that order. The first character being analyzed is Yossarian, the unwilling hero of this book. Although the book labels Yossarian as the main character, he constantly tries to coward out of going to battle. The second character that will be described is Milo Minderbinder, the archetypical business person of Catch 22.He runs the camp mess hall and controls what everyone in the camp is buying, selling, and eating. It was like seditious and insidious too, and like socialist, suspicious, fascist and Communist. It was an odious, alien, distasteful name, a name that just did not inspire confidence. It was not at all like such clean, crisp, honest, American names such as Catchcart, Peckem and Dreedle. (Heller 210) The quote above describes the relationship with Colonel Cathcart, in which Cathcart has a worrying doubt about Yossarian and his role in the squadron. Yossarian complains to Doc Daneeka about Colonel Cathcart s dictum regarding the mission count during every visit to the medical tent. Cathcart s opinion about Yossarian also dawns upon the other men who start to wonder about the man with that name and who he actually is. One of the main points within the story is when the soldiers question Yossarian during the death of Lt. Mudd, whom the men continuously call the dead man in Yossarian s tent (Heller 166). A character that changes Yossarian completely about war is Snowden. After Snowden s death, Yossarian is given a medal of honor for fighting through that battle, but unlike the other men, Yossarian shows up in a disorderly fashion. He realizes that he doesn t want to be in a war like atmosphere anymore and starts to long for his trips throughout Italy. • 10. Stockhausen Life and Works Composer Karlheinz Stockhausen was born August 22, 1928 in the small town of Mödrath located just west of Cologne Germany. He was the first child of three born to Simon and Gertrud Stockhausen. Early in his life, the Stockhausen family struggled financially. Germany was in a low point of stability after WWI and most people had trouble making ends meet. Simon Stockhausen, a teacher at the time, was forced to move from one temporary post to another on average twice a year. Unfortunately in 1932 when he was four years old, Stockhausen s mother Gertrud was committed into a sanatorium. This was likely due to the depression she encountered associated with the instability, poverty, and having three children so close to one another. In 1935 Shortly after his wife became ill, Simon Stockhausen was promoted to head teacher at a small village school located in Altenburg. The newly formed Third Reich led by Adolf Hitler used him in this position to influence the local community by spreading propaganda and organizing fundraisers for the new movement. Karlheinz Stockhausen showed an early interest in music and the family piano. The family also owned a radio that young Stockhausen listened to and attempted to imitate. When he was seven, Karlheinz was enrolled in school and began his first piano lessons with the organist of the local Protestant church. He practiced often and learned to play back music he heard on the radio. In 1939 Karlheinz was refused admission to an elite high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Theme Of Revenge In Frankenstein The Revenge of a Medieval Monster The reason for a decision made by The Monster or Victor Frankenstein s creation, created one of the many themes revenge . Revenge is an interesting theme that occurs in the book Frankenstein. There are many events that occur in the story that support this theme. Revenge forms a very destructive feeling within the monster. The theme of revenge first appears when the monster was mistreated by his creator, Victor Frankenstein. The monster then was abandoned by the De Lacey family. The monster then decided to turn to revenge. The monster actions are understandable because it has been abandoned and mistreated by humanity. Revenge truly effected the monster in this novel. Revenge turned the monster into a real monster that had no feelings and made him want to destroy his creator. The monster wanted revenge on Victor because he abandoned and mistreated him. Also, Victor wasn t a good father figure, he didn t teach or care for his creation. Cursed, cursed creator! Why did I live? Why, in that instant, did I not extinguish the spark of existence which you had so wantonly bestowed? I know not; despair had not yet taken possession of me; my feeling were those of rage and revenge. • 13. Critical Assessment of 3 Causes of World War 1 Critical Assessment of 3 Causes of World War 1 Nationalism is being a strong supporter of the rights and interests of one s country. It was very high in the 19th century and nations which had not obtained independence by 1900 were determined to do so as it gave groups of subject peoples the idea of forming independent nations of their own. In 1815, the Congress of Vienna took place. This was a conference held in Vienna in Austria between ambassadors from the major powers in Europe. This conference left people under the control of local dynasts or other nations and ignored nationalism in favour of preserving the peace, however, revolutions and strong nationalistic movements during the late ... This display of unity alarmed ruling circles but had little practical impact at the time as Belgrade Serbs paid little attention to Croatian politics. The ethnic tensions that were present in Croatia in the late 19th century were accompanied by a break down in Austro Serbian relations driven by a crisis over trade. Since 1881 Austria had dominated Serbia s foreign trade which consisted mostly of pigs driven to slaughterhouses in Hungary. By 1905, 84 percent of Serbia s exports were going to Austria Hungary and 53 percent of Serbia s imports were from Austria Hungary. However, when they were at war Austria blocked Serbian pigs from entering ports on the excuse that they carried diseases. This gave the Austro Serbian war the alternate name of the Pig War . • 14. Arguments Against Illegal Immigration Immigration has been a part of American History since the discovery of this beautiful land hundreds of years ago. Who first colonized the Americas has been a great debate over the years by many researchers. An Article in the National Geographic stated, Traditionally, Native Americans are believed to have descended from northeast Asia, arriving over a land bridge between Siberia and Alaska some 12,000 years ago and then migrating across North and South America. But recent research, including the Baja California study, indicates that the initial settlement of the continent was instead driven by Southeast Asians who occupied Australia 60,000 years ago and then expanded into the Americas about 13,500 years ago, prior to Mongoloid people arriving from northeast Asia. Then as we have learned in this course, the land was later settled by immigrants seeing religious freedom from the English Parliament. These same people that fled the harsh conditions of England in the 1600 s later went on to write the Constitution, one might argue that the constitution was written by illegal immigrants. So why is immigration such a divided issue today? Many people believe that illegal aliens are taxing on the American people, they drive up the crime rate in our cities and states, and they cause the cost of car insurance rate to increase, and keep wages low, as well as consume the majority of the resources available for low income families. But are these things really a threat to the country? As mentioned before, many people who are opposed to illegal immigration believe that illegal immigrants are taxing on the American tax payers. Taxes is a touch subject for a lot of people especially those who make millions and have to pay thousands upon thousands to the IRS. There have been numerous of actors and wealthy business people who have tried to go without paying taxes or fled to another country to try to skip out on paying taxes, but the reality is that there is no getting around it. As we know our founding fathers fought to be free from the taxes that Great Britain placed on their goods and were successful. In this day in time we are now taxed on nearly everything we purchase, but it is not to the point where we are paying more for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These measures should be carried out for those who may handle objects contaminated by an infected person s body fluids. In 2014, the CDC began recommending that medical personnel receive training on the proper suit up and removal of personal protective equipment (PPE); in addition, a designated person, appropriately trained in biosafety, should be watching each step of these procedures to ensure they are done correctly. The typical training period for the use of such safety equipment lasted approximately 12 days in Sierra Leone. The infected person should be in separated from other people. • 16. The Biblical Allusion of Lot s Wife in Slaughterhouse-Five... Kurt Vonnegut s novel Slaughterhouse Five, uses the biblical allusion of Lot s wife looking back on the destroyed cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to parallel the story of Billy Pilgrim during the war and his experience after, when he returns to the United States. Although the reference is brief, it has profound implications to the portrayal of America during World War II, especially the bombing of Dresden. Although Lot s wife s action dooms her to turn into a pillar of salt, the narrator emphasizes her choice to indicate the importance of being compassionate and having hindsight. Ultimately, Slaughterhouse Five critiques the American social attitude to disregard the unjust nature of its actions in World War II. Furthermore, Vonnegut s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This attitude refuses to place blame on American government or soldiers for the massacre of over a hundred thousand civilians. It makes slaughter socially acceptable and necessary. The attitude, championed by Rumfoord, does more than ignore the value of those lives lost, it refuses to acknowledge the right of the soldiers who participated and witnessed firebombing to receive an explanation for their actions. And, in both cases, innocents die or are unable to move forward from the event. The allusion of Sodom and Gomorrah to Dresden is not a perfect parallel. God punishes Sodom and Gomorrah because the whole city teems with corruption and sinfulness, while Dresden represents the Nazi empire, but is not an inherently sinful place. However, the death of each implicates a loss of innocence. The Nazism is evil, but the people of Dresden represent a complicated evil. They may be part of the Nazi empire, but they act in a morally acceptable and socially upstanding manner. This imperfect parallel further gives evidence that America acts in an evil way, even in combating evil. The novel illustrates this by the industry located in Dresden: The syrup was enriched with vitamins and minerals. The syrup was for pregnant women (203). • 18. Hiroshima And The Atomic Bomb On August 6th, 1945, the United States of America dropped the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, Japan. This bomb decimated over two hundred thousand Japanese citizens, and caused the Empire of Japan to surrender ending World War II. In his book Hiroshima, John Heresy reveals the stories of six survivors, and how their lives were changed following the bombing. As you might expect, the time succeeding the attack was rather hectic. Even more so for physicians and nurses, as thousands of people were rushing towards them for medical assistance. Two physicians, Dr. Masakazu Fujii, and Dr. Terufumi Sasaki, have survived to tell their stories. Dr. Fujii ran a hospital that overlooked a river. When the bomb exploded, Dr. Fujii was blown off his feet and landed in the water along with the remnants of his hospital. Dr. Sasaki was much luckier than Dr. Fujii, because he remained uninjured and immediately started caring for those close to him. At the time the bomb exploded, Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto is helping a friend move his daughter s belongings and Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge, who was recently suffering from a stomach illness, was resting on his porch. Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura had three children, and when the bomb exploded, she was looking out the window. Through time, these BIFs have become metamorphosed and deformed. While this was happening, around 1.85 billion years ago an island arc, oceanic islands with intense volcanic activities, crashed into the continent. Later on around 1.84 billion years ago another continental crustal body crashed into the continent. These continental collisions formed mountains called The Penokean Mountains. Whilst Anne Fleming admits Evelyn sadly confided that he got no pleasure from natural beauty , his description of the airship party focuses upon how new modern beauty defies natural beauty. Acres of inflated silk blotted out the sky and lights of other cars arriving lit up the uneven grass. This holds a certain nostalgia for pastoral beauty, and with the country landscapes of Hetton and Brideshead casting a great aesthetic influence in later novels, perhaps Waugh already senses here that any excitement of technological beauty is fleeting, and as the ugliness of war looms, a hankering for beauties past sinks in. The new exciting beauties prove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The description of Brenda applying makeup is deliberately unpleasant, as she spat into the eye black and choked slightly. This language implies that creating the illusion of beauty requires uncomfortable effort, and the ugliness of her adulterous intent struggles to reveal itself from beneath it. For Waugh, to highlight the ugliness of adulterous women was biographically motivated, due to the revelation of his wife s adultery during his writing process. This only adds to his association with decadence according to Freud, whom Charles Bernheimer suggests thought contemporary decadence resulted from people having too little sex rather than too much. So sceptical is Waugh of any positivity in female beauty that in Vile Bodies the term pretty gains negative connotations. Adam ridiculously deems Mary Mouse and the Maharajah a pretty pair as they publicly make love on the airship balcony. The negative use of the term is only furthered when Chastity in the prettiest way possible simpers to the drunk major against the ugliness of the war backdrop. Thus Women s prettiness is a fickle attempt to disguise the ugliness around them. His desire for effective expression is shown when he sought fit words, and tried to see if thence would flow (5, 7). Both poets are inhibited by their tendency to censor and over analyze their work, thus preventing themselves from free expression. Luckily, both poets come to a realization that the only way to truly express themselves is to write from their heart. • 30. Equal Citizen And Gender Status equal citizen. This approach requires an expansion of the meaning of equality to include all choices people make in their lives. If we look at it in this way, equality means the right not to have one s life split between career and family. It also means the right to control one s own social roles. From an inequality perspective, the test in any case would be whether the policy or practice in question integrally contributes to the maintenance of an underclass or a deprived position because of gender status. If the law continues to contribute to the repression of women, the court must then deliberate if the law has a substantial impact on perpetuating the inequality of women. If so, the court must use the strict scrutiny analysis to see if the law is reasonable in having a compelling state interest. Therefore, the inequality test moves away from the current equal protection analysis in that is does not need to have a link between similarly situated classes of people. This difference is important because laws that govern reproductive biology rule ways in which women and men are not similarly situated. Moreover, this test demands a strict security analysis of cases that perpetuate the oppression of women, rather than the intermediate scrutiny analysis, which is, applied to all gender cases. Therefore, things that make men and women different like pregnancy or sexuality would automatically prompt strict scrutiny. From this new equality perspective then, the abortion question ... The starting material used was 5 nitro 2,3 dihydrophthalazine 1,4 dione, and after the addition of NaOH, sodium hydrosulfite, acetic acid and water, we were left with the product of crude luminol.1 Then, the crude luminol was dissolved into a stock solution that contained NaOH.1 That stock solution A was then diluted with water, which turned it into solution A.1 That solution was then combined with solution B, a mixture made from potassium ferricyanide and hydrogen peroxide then diluted with water, which allowed us to observe the blue light emission that was chemiluminescence.1 Introduction Chemiluminescence ... In the Bible it means being able to master your own desires; to not be puppeteered by your peers, by the world s offerings, or by your own motives and passions! It is an internal restraint. Galatians 5:22 introduces us to the Fruit of The Spirit and temperance is one of those fruit. Viewing fruit from the natural sense; we know that fruit is beneficial to the body. Nutritionists have gone as far to categorize fruit and label some as Super Fruit . These types of fruit have additional health benefits that not all fruit offer. • 42. Essay on Contemplating Sartre s No Exit Contemplating Sartre s No Exit In No Exit, Sartre provides a compelling answer to the problem of other minds through the medium of drama. He puts two women (Inez and Estelle) in one hotel room with one man (Garcin) for all of eternity. This is his concept of hell, and he makes this point in one of the last few lines of the play: Hell is other people! There are no torture racks or red hot pitchforks in hell because they re after an economy of man power or devil power if you prefer. Each person is there (in hell) for a specific reason: Garcin because he cheated on and tormented his wife, Estelle because she killed her own child and her lover, then committed suicide, and Inez because she tormented (female) lover until that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to note that Garcin s main fear in life was the fear of being cowardly, and this motivated the majority of his actions, e.g. most of his actions were preformed to demonstrate to himself and others that he is/was manly ; for instance, his conquests of multiple women, his domination and degradation of his wife, and the way he courted danger at every turn. However, he performed a cowardly action (fled the country when war broke out) which, when he was caught, led to a cowardly death which he defines as merely a physical lapse. Additionally, Estelle finds another way to seek approval: she needs Garcin s approval (as the only man there) to establish her superiority over Estelle as an object of desire, by comparison with Inez, the lesbian. Finally, Inez does the same thing, although in a different form, as Estelle and Garcin. She seeks approval over Estelle as a strong, dominant, hones woman, as compared to Estelle, who is a weak, subservient, dishonest woman. Although Inez criticizes Estelle for having a male dominated personality (which since Inez is a lesbian, she does not), Inez does not realize that she herself has an other dominated personality. No Exit also does a fine job of expressing Sartre s idea of negation in his philosophy of existentialism. Each person negate the person who is attracted to her through the process of denying that person. However, each person also negates the person whom the

  • 44. Analysis Of Hedda Gabler By Henrik Ibsen Ambiguity is a continuous battle within everyone s mind. People are constantly pondering about one s trustworthiness. Human beings are always questioning one another s intentions and if there exists an ulterior motive in one s mind. Trust is not easily earned from one another. This kind of motif is shown in many works of literature. For example, Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen shows the ways of character moral ambiguity and its way in deceiving others; this is shown through the character Judge Brack. Judge Brack is portrayed to be a good friend of George Tesman and Hedda Gabler Tesman, a psychological trickster and manipulator who is ultimately revealed to be a morally ambiguous character. Judge Brack is introduced into Hedda Gabler as a man of authority, which allows him to able to aid George Tesman and act as his financial planner. As a great help to Tesman and Hedda, the couple can t thank you [Judge Brack] sufficiently in expressing their gratitude and the great help that Brack is, being a man of power (Ibsen 20). By lending a hand to George and Hedda, this exploits the friendship between the three characters. If Judge Brack was not a friend to the couple, then he would not assist them in their accumulating debt. It is shown that Judge Brack does help George regarding his financial needs even when they are involved with Eilert Lövborg, the professor. Although the notion of market efficiency has albeit rudimentarily been dealt with since the 16th century , it was only when Eugene Fama published his PhD and his subsequent article Efficient Capital Markets: A Review of Theory and Empirical Work in 1970 that the Efficient Market Hypothesis (hereafter EMH) was established. The fundamental argument offered by EMH proposes that the multiplicity and interaction of fully rational economic actors within a market will lead to the elimination of disparities between market prices and actual values and allow the former to randomly fluctuate around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being that news and exogenous shocks are by nature erratic, prices will share their randomness. Accordingly, as stipulated by the rational expectations model, investors will act in response to financial shocks mindful of the latters macroeconomic consequences. Furthermore, both efficiency and rationality have relative connotations within the economy and are contingent to different levels of market friction. Campbell, Lo, and MacKinley echo this view and argue that the concept of relativity is a more useful approach than the absolutist interpretations seen in traditional economic literature. Markets can, thus, still be efficient even if certain economic agents are irrational or if price volatility of assets cannot be grounded by fundamentals. Since certain market participants are irrational, specific stock market trades will not be based on a rational evaluation. Yet, Fama s sophisticated trader argument finds that the impact of the rational agents within the market is powerful enough to minimize the departure of actual prices from their fundamental value. Fama expanded EMH into three distinct forms weak, semi strong and strong form to allow the hypothesis to be tested in financial analyses. The form that is perceived, however, as the most reflective of EMH and will be employed by the paper is the semi strong. This form of market efficiency ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the other hand, supporters of repealing DACA also have their own reasons for wanting to get rid of the act. Some believe that DACA is a legal concern. Current Attorney General Jeff Sessions, in a press briefing discussing getting rid of DACA, stated this about removing DACA. This policy was implemented unilaterally to great controversy and legal concern after Congress rejected legislation proposals to extend similar benefits on numerous occasions to this same group of illegal aliens.... The executive branch, through DACA, deliberately sought to achieve what the legislative branch specifically refused to authorise on multiple occasions. Such an open ended circumvention of immigration laws was an unconstitutional exercise of authority by the Executive Branch. Others state that the immigrants protected under DACA are stealing jobs that could have gone to american citizens. With the spread of pastoralism, Inner Eurasia now had channels of communication across Eurasia. Early evidence of trade along the Silk Roads comes from the so called Oxus civilization, a group of fortified farming and trading cities built about 4,000 years ago on the borders between modern Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Archaeologists have found Chinese silks and goods from India and Mesopotamia, and pottery and ornaments from Inner Eurasia.
