Interview About Me Essay
Interview about Me Rubi Garza Texas A M International University The purpose for this interview
assessment is to measure an individual s personality by having two interviewees who know them very
well answer questions about them. The Informant Report Data approach and the qualitative method
are used for this test. The reliability, validity, and generalization of the test are examined separately in
order to see how effective they are. The results provide characteristics of the individual and a
reflection of their personal thoughts about the test. The findings concluded low degree of reliability
and validity. The generalizability of the assessment was found to be moderately applicable to others.
In my reflection, I concluded a pattern from the Self interview assessment and found motivation from
my interviewees answers. The type of data used for this test was the I Data, commonly known as the
Informant Report Data. This type of data is given through assessments such as, questionnaires
(Fudner, 2012). The Informant Report Data gets information about an individual through the
judgments of their co workers, family members, acquaintances, etc (Fudner, 2012). It is used daily and
it s based on other people s observations. It allows to see different perspectives about a person through

Statistical Concepts Of A Real World Business Situation
1. Introduction Statistics is a mathematical science concerned with the collection, presentation,
analysis and interpretation or explanation of data. (Black et. al, 2013). This report aims to apply
statistical concepts to a real world business situation. A multiple regression model is applied to the
data in order to try and predict the changes in stock price of the selected company, and the goodness of
fit of the data to the model is critically analysed by testing the overall model, conducting significance
tests of the regression coefficients, coefficient of multiple determination (R² and Adjusted R²). Finally,
a prediction is made with a confidence interval estimate in order to analyse if the applied model and

3D Hydrogel Scaffold for Characterization of Ovarian Cancer Tumor Cell Growth

Abstract
Ovarian cancer is of significant concern to women because it is both hard to diagnose and aggressive.
As of current, there is a lack of viable in vitro models that accurately model ovarian cancer tumor
metastasis and growth. The purpose of this research is to develop a viable 3D hydrogel that enables
the ovarian cancer cell environment to be effectively modeled in vitro. The goal is to develop a 3D
hydrogel scaffold that properly models the mechanical, physical, and chemical properties of the in
vivo environment. These properties include but are not limited to: vascularization, cell migration,
cytokine signaling, metastasis, and chemosensitivity of cancer cells. By adequately modeling ovarian
cancer metastasis in vitro, the proposed scaffold will allow for more precise screening of drug efficacy
prior to usage in in vivo studies. To quantify whether or not the model is accurate, mechanical,
cytokine signaling, and drug efficacy tests will be carried out and evaluated to determine if the
proposed 3D hydrogel scaffold is suitable as a viable in vitro representation of ovarian cancer cell
environment. Thus, in the long term, this 3D hydrogel scaffold can be used in personalized medicine
and can determine the drug efficacy on a patient s own cancer cells as a precursor to chemotherapy
treatment.

Romans Bread And Games
For my Classics Day project, I worked with Bram to create a Latin themed trivia game inspired by the
modern day board game called Candyland. However, the Roman people did not have sugar and
therefore did not manufacture or consume the marshmallows, chocolate, and candy canes depicted in
the Candyland game. What the Romans did have, and love, was bread, so we felt it would be
appropriate replace candy with bread for the purpose of our game. This change is even more fitting
because of the well known phrase panem et circenses, meaning bread and games, coined by Juvenal
circa 100 A.D. in his poem Satire X. The phrase is intended to illustrate Juvenal s contempt for the
Roman public, who is so easily swayed to vote by cheap food and entertainment. In Roman society,
providing bread and games became one of the most effective ways to rise to power. In 140 B.C., this
policy had been officially put into place with the passage of the grain dole, or Cura Annonae ( care for
the grain supply ). Though a source of political contention for many years to follow, distributing the
grain supply became an important duty for the Roman Aedile. ... Show more content on

In 168 B.C., the first guild of bakers ( Collegium Pistorum ) was formed, and within 150 years there
existed more than three hundred specialist pastry chefs in rome. The guild was regarded so highly that
it was even given its own seat in the Roman Senate. Lentaculum loaves were round, flat, and made of
a cereal grain similar to wheat flour, while oyster bread was made to be eaten with oysters, to name
just two examples of Roman bread. The wealthy could make their breads richer by adding milk, eggs,
and butter, but these ingredients were hard to come by for the poorer people of Rome. Bread making
was also important to the Greeks, where intense rivalries developed between cities regarding which

Louise Symbolism In The Story Of An Hour
Within the tear jerking short story, The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, Kate Chopin offers insight
on the ongoing battle of the main character and her loss of her husband. In the beginning of the story,
Louise Mallard has to be informed about her husband s death. Since Louise suffers from heart trouble,
her sister, Josephine, must inform her in a cautious manner. Brently, was announced dead by a local
newspaper in which Brently has died due to a railroad disaster. Louise is perched against an open
window in which she studies the outside environment closely. She begins to cry simultaneously trying
to keep her emotions within. She soon repeats free! numerous amounts of times. Louise imagines
seeing her husband s corpse and began to imagine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Louise then exclaims, free, free, free! when she was told about the news of her husband s death
(Chopin 13). Louise exclaims free multiple times because this is essentially her hidden feeling towards
her husband s death, free. In direct correlation to Louise repetition of free, she sits near a window in
which symbolizes her underlying feelings towards the oppressiveness of marriage. After all the time
she stared out the window, now there was a dull stare in her eyes, whose gaze was fixed away off
yonder on one of those patches of blue sky. It was not a glance of reflection, but rather indicated a
suspension of intelligent thought (Chopin 13). Louise undergoes a change in mindset in which she
suddenly realizes the freedom she received over Brently s death. The window is a symbol to her
freedom, in which she enlightens herself after a few moments of thought.
Lastly, irony plays a role in Louise s sudden death. The irony begins when Louise breathed a quick
prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be
long (Chopin 14). The death of Brently poured the negative influences in Louise s mind. She believed
that her life was going to be long and dull when she was informed. Eventually, the doctors came they
said she had died of heart disease of joy that kills (Chopin 14). Shortly after she thought

Derrick Rose proclaimed that the New York Knicks would be a super team. Doubling down on that
statement a month later. But this was all preseason hype. A new employee in a new city, looking to
show how much he believed in his new team and teammates. As a Knick fan, I was excited to see that
kind of boastfulness coming from a NY Knicks point guard but I was also highly skeptical. So, after
20% of the season logged, where do the Knicks and Rose s prediction stand?
After a tough road loss to the Hornets on Saturday night and a tough loss at home to the Russell
Westbrooks on Monday, the Knicks stand at 8 9 before heading into a home and home against the
Minnesota Timberwolves. Currently, third in the Atlantic division, three games behind the first place

They re middle of the pack in other categories but this assessment is more of an eye test. Rose and
Melo have never been known as defensive players but they are trying. They have picked up their
intensity on the defensive end. Courtney Lee and Noah add some energy and decent defensive skills
that add to the overall team D which can be contagious. There have been stretches during games
where they feed off of each other s energy on the defensive end, which translates into positive
offensive positions. They are playing with a sense of urgency that I haven t seen in awhile.
4) Brandon Jennings Having a legit starting PG is crucial to being competitive in the NBA but having
a legit backup PG can lead to success into the playoffs. (Ask the Warriors). Brandon Jennings has been
the heart of this team. Every time he comes off the bench the energy and flow of game changes
immediately. Coach Hornacek needs to find better combinations of players to have on the floor with
Jennings. He constantly wants to push the pace, which is a great change from the slow it down game

Key Sources Of Dietary Phenolic Compounds
Red beets are one of the pivotal sources of dietary phenolic compounds, including phenolic acids and
flavonoids (). These compounds are secondary metabolites which are essential for the plant growth
and development, provides protection against pathogens and predators and are contributors of
antioxidant, anti microbial, anti inflammatory, anti allergenic, anti thrombotic, anti atherogenic,
cardioprotective and, vasodilatory properties (Balasundram et al., 2006). The total phenolic (TPC) and

In another study, TPC of raw red beet skin (number mg GAE/100g FW) was analyzed to be second
highest among other vegetables (Kähkönen et al., 1999). In contrast, (). The total phenolic content in
processed beet products also been studied. The total phenolics compounds in red beet juice cv. Mona
Lisa, Moronia, Redval, Agyptische Plattrunde, Forono, and Bolivar have been reported to be in the
range of 0.85 1.10 g/l (Wruss et al. 2015). Other juices Oksuz et al. (2015) studied the effect of jam
processing on red beet and reported a significant loss of about 49.9% in total phenolics (Oksuz et al.,
2015). In a similar manner, TPC values of red beet jam were found to be 86% lower than fresh sample
on dry weight basis, pickled red beet have 25% less TPC than fresh sample on wet basis and boiled
red beet did not have significant effect on fresh sample (Guldiken et al., 2016). The major drawback of
Folin Ciocalteu (FC) method is the ability to react with the reducing compounds in red beets such as
ascorbic acid and nitrogenous substances especially Dopa (3,4 dihydroxyphenylalanine), thus
providing higher values of phenolic compounds in the extract. Moreover, the main component betanin
of red beet is structurally similar to Dopa(3,4 dihydroxyphenylalanine) which may contribute to the
higher values using FC spectrometric estimation (Kugler et al., 2012).

requirements are: Bar code scanners, permanently mounted for the shipping and receiving area and
mobile RF scanners for the stock pickers and inventory replacement personnel. Additional
shipping/receiving hardware includes standard PC I/O terminals, and printers for shipping labels.
Accounting
The accounting software is the center of the business. It will require standard accounting software, and

sale is made dollars and taxes are calculated and logged, inventory is reduced and marked as pending.
When the picker has removed the book from its holding area, the item is marked as picked waiting for
delivery. If the book is shipped, the item is marked as delivered when the shipping label is printed. If a
book is purchased, dollars and tax are calculated and logged; inventory is increased and marked

Education And Social Problem Solving Skills
Introduction Teachers have different ways of engaging children in social problem solving skills. The
literature review revolves around this argument. The different topics to be discussed are inclusive of

Who Is Grendel s Mother In Beowulf
In Beowulf , Grendel s mother is perhaps one of the most confusing characters. While she is notably
smaller and supposedly more frail than her son, it is clear that Grendel s mother is quite possibly the
most vicious beast presented in this piece of literature. Grendel s mother could be best described as a
grief racked and ravenous (1278) creature when he finds out about her son s death, and her disposition
is one that is desperate for revenge (1278). Grendel s mother may represent a number of things in the
text, and the author chooses to depict her as a limitless being. Grendel s mother possesses many of the
traits that the warriors do, and her hunger to avenge her son s death is one resonant of the heroic code.

Effect of Growing Internet Newspapers on Circulation of Print Newspapers in the U.S.
A paper submitted to 54 Conference of International Communication Conference for consideration for

ABSTRACT An Internet survey of publishers and online editors found that growth of the Internet
newspaper yielded a slightly negative effect on print newspapers circulation. The findings suggest that
the smaller the newspaper, the larger effect the Internet newspapers had on the print newspapers.

the declining trend was not evident for large newspapers. The readership of the Internet newspaper

newspaper reading was limited to the one serving people s home city or town plus a national daily
like The Wall Street Journal or USA Today. Now, however, local papers and any one of numerous
newspapers from across the country are only a few clicks away. 14 With all the advantages, the virtual
newspapers will become a competitive displacement for printed newspapers. 15 Studies found some
support for relative constancy with growth of the Internet newspapers. A survey by Editor Publisher
found that more than one third of the users of Web sites run by newspapers said they reduced their
reading of print newspapers since going online. A survey conducted in Texas reported that among
PointCast Users who are predominately business people, nearly half of them spend less time reading

Effect of the Internet Newspaper on Print newspapers Researchers proposed that print newspapers and
their online counterparts were characterized by head on competition, and readers shifted from print to

Essay On Whitetail Deer
Just a typical evening driving home from work, tired from such a long day. Lis tening to the music just

you slam on your brakes. Next thing you know, there is a deer, that u just about hit, standing inches in

That deer that you just about hit has a name. For the United States there are two main deer we see on a

before it starts to change in color and start to harden. In the winter time, the Whitetail Deer will move
more to cover to keep out of the harsh elements. They revert to acorns falling from the trees and also
corn and beans before its about to be harvested. Also having food plots planted for them with greens
on it for the late season will also keep the deer on your place. If you leave food on your land and the
deer know about it they will be there until you run out. Whitetail deer typically get the biggest out of
the four different types of deer. Many Whitetails go beyond the 300 pound mark. Antler size ranges on
the Whitetail the farther east u go towards the water. This is because there is less crops for them to eat

well tipped waitress while serving to a variety of customers. The waitresses each played a game where
they would guess the tip their customer would give before ordering. Yankees were the most difficult
customer, whom no one would bet on because they were inconsistent with their tips. The narrator soon

The Yankees have a belief that all Southerners fit their stereotypical role, so the narrator plays up her
charm for them to make them believe as if they were right. She knows that the Yankees have a certain
perception of people down south and uses that against them to get exactly what she wants from them.
The short story s point of view is told in first person by the narrator. I m Working on My Charm is told
by a daughter who learns and exercises the advantages of the southern charm. It made her heavy
bosom move dramatically, and I remembered times I d seen her do that at the counter. It made me feel
even more embarrassed and angry, the narrator stated. In the quote, it shows that the narrator is
uncomfortable with the way the waitresses interact with customers just for tips. She doesn t think it is
fair to compromise her dignity, but still does it to make her money. By the point of view being told in
first person, the reader is able to read the thoughts of the character to understand their feelings. The
setting takes place in two opposite places. One took place in 1966 at a counter back of a Moses
Drugstore planted in the middle of a Highway 50 shopping mall, and the other was years later at a
party for the narrator s job located in the North. At that time, segregation had ended which influenced
the thoughts people had on the South. People from Northern states believed everyone from the South
didn t have any education.

Bior Recognition Memory
This study is important for our understanding of the relationship between social inhibition of return
(SIOR) and recognition memory. SIOR is defined as the impact of a person s action on the observer,
which can result in slower responses to the same repeated location. This research hypothesizes that
SIOR has an effect on recognition memory. An experiment was set to examine this inhibition of action
response to recognition memory, participants were influenced by SIOR and biased in recognition
memory test (RMT). This experiment has been conducted in the standard SIOR paradigm and a RMT
to determine whether SIOR inhibits retrieval of memory. Twenty six participants were recruited in this
experiment. A pair of participants were sitting opposite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Posner and Cohen (1984) found that an inhibition showed when a participant responded to the
previous cued location in a relatively long cue target time interval whereas facilitation showed when a
participant responded to the previous cued location in a short cue target interval. The reason for the
absence of inhibitory effect is that a larger facilitation masked the inhibitory effect at the short cue
target stimulus. Posner and Cohen (1984) discovered an IOR using a simple cuing paradigm, which is
to measure IOR through central and peripheral cued boxes that aid to generate IOR either in
endogenous or exogenous signals. In the classical experiment, participants were asked to fixate at the
central box and then responded to one of the two peripheral brightening boxes, which was a cue to
summon participants attention. Higher probability of target was then presented as a dot with
probability of 0.6 in the central box to withhold the participant s attention. Participants were then
asked to make a manual respond to target box quickly. The result showed an early facilitation and late
inhibition of the cued side and a reduction of RT was observed in the uncued side. In the cue side, a
reduction of RT was similar to the uncued side before 250 msec. However, an increase of RT occurred
after approximately 250 msec. Posner and Cohen (1984) suggest that

How Does Barhes Write The Death Of The Author
In the French theorist s Roland Barthes s essay, The Death of the Author, he explores that reading is
done through a lens of the authors life. According the Dictionary.com, to read is to comprehend the
meaning of (written or printed matter) by mentally interpreting the characters or symbols of which it is
composed. Barthes argues that the reader spends to much time allowing the author s identity to get in
the way of comprehending the meaning of the written or printed matter. He then goes on to say that
reading is way more than just a means to use to judge the author. He proclaims that we stop thinking
the birth of the reader must be at the cost of the death of the author (257). In other words, he means
the only way we can understand a work of writing is to disregard the authors, his person, his life, his
taste, his passions (254) because the readers should not use these things in a bias when interpreting a
piece of writing. He does not want the reader to be blinded by what the think of the author.
Barthes says that we must disregard the essence of the author, I say we use it to further our
interpretation of the piece of writing we are reading. While reading Barthes essay for the first time, I
thought that what he said was obvious. I was saying to myself, of course, I don t care about the author
life! I just care about what is written on this page. I really did want to agree with Barthes, at first read,
he made total sense. Ironically enough, while reading his

Essay about Variations in Animation in Different Cultures
Animation in different cultures
Animation has a variety of differences between Japanese culture and the culture of the United States.
While animation is usually made for the sole purpose of entertainment for children in the United
States, Japanese animation, also known as anime as it is referred to both in Japan and in the West, is a
form of media that is enjoyed by people of all ages. Unlike the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and
SpongeBob Square pants, both very popular American animations shows in their times, anime focuses
more on drama and other non childlike qualities. The differing cultures of the United States and Japan
can be considered the main factor to the huge differences in their own respected animation styles.

from foreign nations reached Japanese theatres, mostly coming from the United States.
With the rapid spread of television in the 1960 s, Japanese animators found a new way to sell their
products. One of the first Japanese anime to see great success was Tetsuwan Atom also known as
Astro Boy, seeing success in western countries such as the United States and Europe. Another popular
series from this time period was Tetsujin 28 go or Gigantor. Unlike the cartoons being shown in the
United States at this time period, such as Spiderman, The Flintstones, and The Jetsons, Astro Boy and
Gigantor focused on bigger, more mature issues. Cartoons in the United States aimed more at
entertaining children with superheros thwarting criminals, and both prehistoric and futuristic comedy.
These types of cartoons were never meant for anything other than entertainment with a small side of
morality lessons put in for good measure. While entertaining, very rarely did the cartoons that were
from the United States create critical thinking or questions about morality amongst their young
viewers.
In comparison, Astro Boy, while similar to

Ocean Tide Research Papers
Amari Williams
Research Paper RD Beginning with its creation, Earth has been in contact with many natural,
environmental disasters. Majorities of the chaos still have effects on people living in coastal areas.
Because of the Earth s large capacity of water and relationship with gravity, tidal waves through
extreme tidal storms are created. The Moon heavily influences the movement of Earth s tides by
shifting and relating land features, using its gravitational pull to change the height of the tides, and
also affecting the speed of the Moon s revolution. To start, the Earth s aquatic tides are the constant
rise and fall of bodies of water every day (Jacobs 9). Gravity, provided by the Moon and some parts of
the Sun, helps create the ocean s tides (Jacobs 10). It is also often caused by the winds forcefully ...

Land tides are pieces of ground or land that are slowly shifted up and down twice by the gravitational
force between the Sun and Moon ( The ). Because of important use of mainly sunlight, land tides
occur most near the Equator and not often in the poles. These tides happen in four cycles: the lunar
diurnal, lunar semidiurnal, solar diurnal, and solar semidiurnal ( Tides ). Diurnal tides last 24 hours
while semidiurnal tides only last 12 hours. During a land tide, the center of the Earth to the outer crust
takes time to deform under the Moon and Sun ( The ). The deformation takes toll on geological
processes and volcanic eruptions ( Tides ). To include, scientists found that volcanic eruptions and
tides have a relationship because of the magma flowing in volcanoes. Geologists use specific
instruments like: seismometers, tiltmeters, and strainmeters to measure slow shifts. Results from these
tools are placed on a graph to view the various movements of Earth. In 1978, Spahr Webb, former
M.I.T student, measured with two thirty six feet tiltmeters and found a tidal tilt in Earth s surface that

her right leg slipped out from under her; she landed on her right hip. There was no trauma to her head,

Given the above considerations, Margaret s osteoporotic femurs are vulnerable to fracture because of
(A) the loss of spongy bone in the epiphyses and (B) the thinning of the bony collar in the diaphysis.
6. Describe the changes that a broken bone undergoes as it is healing. The bony collar of long bones
helps them withstand compressive stress by the mechanism described in #4A above (i.e.
hydroxyapatite, weight bearing pillars). In addition, long bones also withstand compressive forces by
virtue of the spongy ( cancellous ) bone in the epiphyses. The interlocking network of bony plates
(called trabeculae ) found in spongy bone help to distribute the weight of the body out to the tough
bony collar of the diaphysis. In this way, bony plates act much like the trusses or struts in old time
railroad bridges which distribute the weight of the train evenly over the entire bridge.
7. During her long recovery, Margaret is advised by her physician to begin weight bearing as soon as
she can. How does weight bearing influence the process you described in question #6? (Be specific in
your answer and describe what weight bearing does to bone at the microscopic level.) The most
popular hypothesis regarding the effect of weight bearing on bone remodeling is called Wolff s law .

Black Holes Research Papers
Black holes are an interesting phenomenon, but if they get close enough to Earth, Earth would be gone
in a matter of seconds. We know that they use a strong gravitational pull, but where does the matter
go? How are they formed? How do we know they even exist?
Black holes are formed by an interesting phenomenon. When stars collapse on themselves, they create
what we know as black holes. This collapse can cause a giant supernova, which can blast a part of the
star into space. This largest black holes astronomers believe, were created when the Big Bang
happened. This means black holes grow over time.
There are three main types of black holes primordial, stellar, as well as supermassive. Primordial black
holes are smallest of the three. This means they can t suck in as big of objects as the other two. These

They can t directly use a telescope to see black holes. Scientist can study by missing matter on other
objects. Since black holes suck objects in if there is missing a part we know a black hole was there.
Also by the size of the missing matter, we can tell if the black hole is a primordial, stellar, and
supermassive type. Luckily it s unlikely that black holes will swallow Earth. If a black hole swallows
the sun, then the black hole would take the sun s place. The black hole would take up the mass of the
sun, meaning the planets would continue to orbit. But, this time the planets would be orbiting a black
hole. Albert Einstein first thought of black holes. He thought of the general theory. The person thought
who thought of the name black hole was named John Wheeler. The first black holes was discovered in
1971. They have been showing up ever since. Black holes can be scary to think about, but amazing at
the same time. The fact that they can have such a heavy gravitational pull that not even light can
escape is fascinating. Luckily we will probaly destroy Earth before a black hole eats it

The Halo effect affects recruiters perceptions. Because of an avalanche in resumes Worldwide Panel

Fifth through eighth beat repeat previous four mirroring the direction, leader does what the follower
did and vice versa
Now let s find the center of mass in the x direction at the pause in this step.
The equation for the center of mass in the x direction is xcm=(Mx1+ mx2)/(M+m) where M is the
mass of the leader, m is the mass of the follower, x1 is the position of the leader, and x2 is the position
of the follower.
Turn
The turn starts off with the follower and the leader side by side and hands crossed. The leader pulls the
follower so that she is facing him.
Let us find the amount of work done by the system when defining the dancers as particles. The
diameter will be defined as the length from the outer edge of one dancer to the outer edge of the other
dancer. M will stand for the leader s mass and m will be used for the follower s mass. w will be the
angular velocity, I will be the moment of inertia, and r is radius.
To find the work you must subtract the intial kinetic energy from the final kinetic energy. The equation
for rotational kinetic energy is: Iw2. The equation for the moment of inertia for particles is: (M+m)r2
So calculating this gives you:{[(M+m)final radius2]final w2}

best, mediocre to terrible according to the KGB. Nothing in his background suggests his bad record. It
could just happen to be that his assignments failed due strictly to random chance, then again, this is
the KGB; are they hiding something about their current president? Maybe what they are hiding is that
he was one of their greatest spies.
Putin was born on October 27, 1952 in Leningrad to a working class family. When he was 23 years

In 1975 he was recruited by the KGB through unknown means. ( Vladimir Putin | The Moscow Times.

Putin s first and only deployment was to Dresden, East Germany; at the time Dresden was as
backwater as possible for the KGB. While in Dresden, his official job was to attempt to recruit
western businessmen, visitors, and students at Dresden University to become informants for the KGB.
He also worked with a German STASI, East Germany s version of the KGB, officer, Rainer M, who
helped him to recruit Latin American students. Rainer M and Putin were so close that Putin Treated

For main memory performance benchmarking, Stream benchmark algorithm is used. This algorithm
measures the sustainable real world bandwidth as real users faced, not the theoretical peak values. It is
a widely known and applied algorithm in memory bandwidth performance tests [27]. The Stream
algorithm is also a synthetic benchmark which creates synthetic workloads, not the real world
workloads. The benchmark measures the bandwidth performance by four long vector / matrix
operations, like copy , scale , add , and triad (combination of other three). The algorithm assigns one
of the arrays to another in order to measure the copy operation time and bandwidth. For scale
operation, it multiplies the elements of an array by a scalar value. In add operation, it adds the
elements of an array to the elements of another array and assigns the results to a third array. Triad does

Great Debaters Discussion Questions

importance of public speaking. In numerous instances, if a topic makes a large group uncomfortable
this topic goes untouched. However, in this film, the debate team bravely brings on those topics that
are close to their hearts, even though society does not want to talk about these issues. The most
prominent example of uneasy topics is when James Farmer Jr., in the middle of a Harvard debate, with
a predominantly white audience, goes to talk about the lynching of people of color. While this was a
topic purposely not brought up due to making people uncomfortable, by Farmer doing this it started
the discussion. Obviously, one man saying lynching is inhumane does not solve the problem.

Pros And Cons Of Caesarean Section
Caesarean section (CS) was brought in clinical practice as a life saving procedure both for mother and
baby. Caesarean section (CS ) is a surgical intervention which is carried out to assure safety of mother
and child when vaginal delivery is difficult or when the doctors consider that the danger to the mother
and baby would be greater with a vaginal delivery. One of the important indicators of emergency
obstetric care is Caeserean section rate (World Health Organization 2009). Various matters like the
health care inequity pattern of the world: underuse of CS in low income settings, and adequate or even
unnecessary use in middle and high income settings can be observed and followed with use of
Caeserean section rate(1). Caeserean section rate below 5 per cent signifies that substantial proportion
of women do not have access to surgical obstetric care; however a rate higher than 15 per cent
connotes over utilization of the surgical procedure for reasons other than for life saving ones (WHO

2014; Toole, 2015; Khan, 2016). Mitosis is a cell division that produces two daughter cells receiving a
copy of every chromosome with the same genetic component as the parent cell, while meiosis is a cell
division that produces haploid sex cells or gametes which contain a single copy of each chromosome
(widmaier et al, 2014; Diffen, 2016; Toole 2016; Encyclopaedia Britannica). The purpose of mitosis is
cell regeneration, growth, and asexual reproduction, while the purpose of meiosis is the production of
gametes for sexual reproduction (UK essays 2013; Vancouver community college, 2011). Mitosis

Colin Ferguson Analysis
Cultural variability is evident in history, cross culturally, and between social groups within in today s
cultures. There are many things that impact cultural variability of norms such as race, gender, social
class, age, subcultural and religious affiliation (Velasquez, Andre, Shanks Meyers, 1987).
December 7, 1993, Colin Ferguson began to randomly execute the passengers on a New York
commuter train (Who is Colin Ferguson, 2017). After killing six passengers and injuring nineteen
others, he was finally subdued by three of the other passengers (Who is Colin Ferguson, 2017).
Colin Ferguson was born January 14, 1959 in Kingston, Jamaica. His father Von Herman was the
managing director for Hercules Agencies, a large pharmaceutical company. Mr. Herman was highly
regarded and recognized as a prominent businessman in Jamaica (Montaldo, 2017). Ferguson had four
brothers and afforded the privileges that wealth offers in an extreme poverty area. He graduated from
Calabar High School in 1969 with a grade average that was ranked in the top third of his class
(Montaldo, 2017). In 1978 his father was killed in a car crash and a short time later his mother died
from cancer. He would then suffer the loss of the family fortune. At 23 years old Ferguson left
Kingston, Jamaica and moved to the U.S. on a Visitor s Visa (Montaldo, 2017). Ferguson arrived in
America in 1978 into a time when there were mostly white families holding privilege and wealth and
leaving a cultural that was quite the opposite from American. Ferguson also came from a prominent
Jamaican family with wealth and privilege that he would no longer have.
The only jobs Ferguson could get in America were low paying and menial. He blamed racist
Americans for this problem (Montaldo, 2017). He got married to an American citizen who was also of
Jamaican descent. They soon moved to Long Island but Ferguson continued to be frustrated with
reports of loss of temper, outrage, and racial bigotry toward white people who he felt stood in his way
(Montaldo, 2017). In Jamaica he was born into one of the top families in Kingston; Government and
top military members attended his father s funeral. In America he was not given this honor which

The Bataan Death March By Glenn Frazier
Glenn Frazier, a survivor of the Bataan Death March states, If we had known what was ahead of us at
the beginning of the Bataan Death March, I would ve taken death. The Bataan Death March was
extremely brutal, which left many survivors thinking if they should have died at the beginning of the
march. During the Bataan Death March, the Americans and Filipinos were forced to walk 65 miles in
five to twelve days without food or water while enduring regular beatings ( Bataan Death March, 1942
) . During the march, the Japanese would treat the prisoners of war (POWs) in a brutal manner leaving
only 987 survivors out of 76,000 prisoners ( New Mexico National Guard s involvement in the Bataan
Death March ). The Americans were horrified by the Japanese ... Show more content on

Bushido means way of the warrior . The Code of Bushido was followed by the ancient Japanese,
which respected the ways of warrior. It was a code that taught the Japanese dedication and respect for
their Emperor and their family. The code had required warriors to exhibit a strict sense of honor and
self control, maintain a benevolent yet detached attitude towards life, care for the Earth and other
people, and be loyal to one s country and family. However, the Emperor had used the Code of Bushido
to brainwash and control soldiers. The Emperor used it as a tool to motivate the people to murder and
die for the code. According to the Japanese, if you surrendered, you would disappoint your family and
country. In World War II when the Japanese were held prisoner in Cowra prison in Australia, many of
them changed their names so that their parents assumed they were dead rather than disappointing
them. The Code of Bushido made the Japanese treat the Americans and Filipinos in a savage and
brutal manner. Moreover, the Japanese s treatment of prisoners affected how Americans saw them.
The Americans believed the Japanese were brutal human beings. The Americans saw them as that
because during the Bataan Death March, if you stopped marching, the Japanese would kill you with a
bayonet or rifle. Then, if you tried to help someone who fell, you would get beaten or stabbed. Also
for a sport, Japanese soldiers would fracture sculls with rifle butts. Mostly, the prisoners would receive
almost to no food or water and they were forced to walk 65

A Brief Look at Green Buildings
According to Bauer, Peter, Schwarz (2010), green buildings represent a revolution in environmental
sustainability and are gaining increasing acceptance in many organizations. Green buildings
significantly reduce the incidence of workplace hazards and illnesses, which might increase the
productivity and personal mood of employees. (Leaman, Bordass, 2007) assert that the natural world
is a source of guidance and a mirror that often reflects back to the soul . The relationship between
individuals and nature has various facets that include beauty, commodity, language, discipline, spirits,
prospects and idealism. All of these facets support the inspiration and intuition of individuals.
Therefore, a natural environment in the workplace can aid to lift the spirits of employees and this can
have a positive impact on the personal mood of the employees (Smith Pitt, 2012). The concepts
employed in the design of many green buildings can help employees to explore and gain intimacy to
the immediate natural environment, which can improve their personal moods.
Green buildings and a natural environment in the workplace also increases the personal mood of
employees because they are able to enjoy fresh and improved quality of air (Leaman Bordass, 2007).
Unsustainable building practices can contribute to an increase in pollutants that might have a negative
effect on the health of the employees. With their health at risk, employees cannot perform optimally.

Mount Everest Essay
Would you climb both dangerous sides of Mt. Everest at the age of 60? At the age of 60, it starts to get
harder to do things very active or sporty. You would also start to get tired as you get older, so do you
think you can do it? Well, Dr. Julio Bird did it. Dr. Julio Bird, one of the bravest souls to climb both
sides of Mount Everest at 60 years old.
Dr. Julio Bird, 60,has climbed both sides of Mount Everest. At 60 years old, Bird becoming the oldest
to climb both sides of Mt. Everest after reaching the peak() In 2002, Bird reached the top of Mount
Everest from the south side for the first time at the age of 52(). Dr. Julio Bird trained himself to adapt
to the weathers on Mount Everest. He climbed Mount everest on the north side which only had about
30% 50% of the people who tried get to the top from the north side and Bird was one of them.() It was
amazing that Bird was one of the ones to make it from the north side of Mt. Everest He took oxygen,
his phone, and his other supplies that would help him to survive. He said We were totally exhausted.

It is really scary climbing Mount Everest when thinking of it because it is the highest peak in the
world, so I am not sure how Dr. Julio Bird climbed both sides especially when he climbed the
Northern side which is way more dangerous than the Southern side. In may of 2007, Bird challenged
Mount Everest s Northern side but didn t have enough oxygen to reach the top and go back down
safely.() That was probably scary when that happens because you wouldn t really know anything about
what would happen On the way up the mountain, Bird met up with the young Jordan Romeo and took
a picture with him.() Dr. Bird says he feels lucky to have had a great window, a chance where they
were able to summit the mountain and hit about an half hour at the

I Watched An Episode Of Dance Moms
For this assignment, I watched an episode of Dance Moms, a Lifetime reality show about a dance
team of young girls, their mothers, and their teacher. Earlier on in the program s years, the show
focused more on the life of a dancer, and the commitment the each dancer had to make to compete.
However in the most recent episodes, such as the one I watched entitled Another One Bits the Dust the
28th episode in season four, the focus seems to have shifted to more surface level cat fights between
the adults. Once one is able to get to know the characters, the drama created from these altercations is
absorbing and overpowering to the point where the reality part of the show seems overly influenced
by the conducts of the show s producers and directors. With the use of classic character roles, creative
filming, and clever scene selections, the creators of Dance Moms tell a manipulated story of
competitive dance and all its participants, and direct the way they all are perceived in order to keep the
intended audience engaged, excited, and entertained with the show.
From the moment the episode starts, the classic good versus evil narrative begins, and the characters
are quickly established for those who might not be loyal watchers. The opening few minutes showcase
Abby Lee Miller. As the owner and director of the Abby Lee Dance Company, Abby tells her students
and their mothers who did the best at the most recent competition, and who did the worst. She posts
their faces in a

Introduction Statistics is a mathematical science concerned with the collection, presentation, analysis and interpretation or explanation of data. (Black et. al, 2013). This report aims to apply statistical concepts to a real world business situation. A multiple regression model is applied to the data in order to try and predict the changes in stock price of the selected company, and the goodness of fit of the data to the model is critically analysed by testing the overall model, conducting significance tests of the regression coefficients, coefficient of multiple determination (R² and Adjusted R²). As of current, there is a lack of viable in vitro models that accurately model ovarian cancer tumor metastasis and growth. The purpose of this research is to develop a viable 3D hydrogel that enables the ovarian cancer cell environment to be effectively modeled in vitro. The goal is to develop a 3D hydrogel scaffold that properly models the mechanical, physical, and chemical properties of the in vivo environment. These properties include but are not limited to: vascularization, cell migration, cytokine signaling, metastasis, and chemosensitivity of cancer cells. By adequately modeling ovarian cancer metastasis in vitro, the proposed scaffold will allow for more precise screening of drug efficacy prior to usage in in vivo studies. To quantify whether or not the model is accurate, mechanical, cytokine signaling, and drug efficacy tests will be carried out and evaluated to determine if the proposed 3D hydrogel scaffold is suitable as a viable in vitro representation of ovarian cancer cell environment. Thus, in the long term, this 3D hydrogel scaffold can be used in personalized medicine and can determine the drug efficacy on a patient s own cancer cells as a precursor to chemotherapy treatment. • 6. Romans Bread And Games For my Classics Day project, I worked with Bram to create a Latin themed trivia game inspired by the modern day board game called Candyland. However, the Roman people did not have sugar and therefore did not manufacture or consume the marshmallows, chocolate, and candy canes depicted in the Candyland game. What the Romans did have, and love, was bread, so we felt it would be appropriate replace candy with bread for the purpose of our game. This change is even more fitting because of the well known phrase panem et circenses, meaning bread and games, coined by Juvenal circa 100 A.D. in his poem Satire X. The phrase is intended to illustrate Juvenal s contempt for the Roman public, who is so easily swayed to vote by cheap food and entertainment. In Roman society, providing bread and games became one of the most effective ways to rise to power. In 140 B.C., this policy had been officially put into place with the passage of the grain dole, or Cura Annonae ( care for the grain supply ). Though a source of political contention for many years to follow, distributing the grain supply became an important duty for the Roman Aedile. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lentaculum loaves were round, flat, and made of a cereal grain similar to wheat flour, while oyster bread was made to be eaten with oysters, to name just two examples of Roman bread. The wealthy could make their breads richer by adding milk, eggs, and butter, but these ingredients were hard to come by for the poorer people of Rome. Louise exclaims free multiple times because this is essentially her hidden feeling towards her husband s death, free. In direct correlation to Louise repetition of free, she sits near a window in which symbolizes her underlying feelings towards the oppressiveness of marriage. After all the time she stared out the window, now there was a dull stare in her eyes, whose gaze was fixed away off yonder on one of those patches of blue sky. It was not a glance of reflection, but rather indicated a suspension of intelligent thought (Chopin 13). Louise undergoes a change in mindset in which she suddenly realizes the freedom she received over Brently s death. The window is a symbol to her freedom, in which she enlightens herself after a few moments of thought. Lastly, irony plays a role in Louise s sudden death. The irony begins when Louise breathed a quick prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be long (Chopin 14). The death of Brently poured the negative influences in Louise s mind. She believed that her life was going to be long and dull when she was informed. The major drawback of Folin Ciocalteu (FC) method is the ability to react with the reducing compounds in red beets such as ascorbic acid and nitrogenous substances especially Dopa (3,4 dihydroxyphenylalanine), thus providing higher values of phenolic compounds in the extract. The short story s point of view is told in first person by the narrator. I m Working on My Charm is told by a daughter who learns and exercises the advantages of the southern charm. It made her heavy bosom move dramatically, and I remembered times I d seen her do that at the counter. It made me feel even more embarrassed and angry, the narrator stated. SIOR is defined as the impact of a person s action on the observer, which can result in slower responses to the same repeated location. This research hypothesizes that SIOR has an effect on recognition memory. An experiment was set to examine this inhibition of action response to recognition memory, participants were influenced by SIOR and biased in recognition memory test (RMT). This experiment has been conducted in the standard SIOR paradigm and a RMT to determine whether SIOR inhibits retrieval of memory. Twenty six participants were recruited in this experiment. Posner and Cohen (1984) found that an inhibition showed when a participant responded to the previous cued location in a relatively long cue target time interval whereas facilitation showed when a participant responded to the previous cued location in a short cue target interval. The reason for the absence of inhibitory effect is that a larger facilitation masked the inhibitory effect at the short cue target stimulus. Posner and Cohen (1984) discovered an IOR using a simple cuing paradigm, which is to measure IOR through central and peripheral cued boxes that aid to generate IOR either in endogenous or exogenous signals. In the classical experiment, participants were asked to fixate at the central box and then responded to one of the two peripheral brightening boxes, which was a cue to summon participants attention. Higher probability of target was then presented as a dot with probability of 0.6 in the central box to withhold the participant s attention. Participants were then asked to make a manual respond to target box quickly. The result showed an early facilitation and late inhibition of the cued side and a reduction of RT was observed in the uncued side. In the cue side, a reduction of RT was similar to the uncued side before 250 msec. However, an increase of RT occurred after approximately 250 msec. Posner and Cohen (1984) suggest that ... • 20. How Does Barhes Write The Death Of The Author In the French theorist s Roland Barthes s essay, The Death of the Author, he explores that reading is done through a lens of the authors life. According the Dictionary.com, to read is to comprehend the meaning of (written or printed matter) by mentally interpreting the characters or symbols of which it is composed. Barthes argues that the reader spends to much time allowing the author s identity to get in the way of comprehending the meaning of the written or printed matter. He then goes on to say that reading is way more than just a means to use to judge the author. He proclaims that we stop thinking the birth of the reader must be at the cost of the death of the author (257). In other words, he means the only way we can understand a work of writing is to disregard the authors, his person, his life, his taste, his passions (254) because the readers should not use these things in a bias when interpreting a piece of writing. He does not want the reader to be blinded by what the think of the author. Barthes says that we must disregard the essence of the author, I say we use it to further our interpretation of the piece of writing we are reading. While reading Barthes essay for the first time, I thought that what he said was obvious. I was saying to myself, of course, I don t care about the author life! Majorities of the chaos still have effects on people living in coastal areas. Because of the Earth s large capacity of water and relationship with gravity, tidal waves through extreme tidal storms are created. The Moon heavily influences the movement of Earth s tides by shifting and relating land features, using its gravitational pull to change the height of the tides, and also affecting the speed of the Moon s revolution. To start, the Earth s aquatic tides are the constant rise and fall of bodies of water every day (Jacobs 9). Gravity, provided by the Moon and some parts of the Sun, helps create the ocean s tides (Jacobs 10). It is also often caused by the winds forcefully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Land tides are pieces of ground or land that are slowly shifted up and down twice by the gravitational force between the Sun and Moon ( The ). Because of important use of mainly sunlight, land tides occur most near the Equator and not often in the poles. During a land tide, the center of the Earth to the outer crust takes time to deform under the Moon and Sun ( The ). The deformation takes toll on geological processes and volcanic eruptions ( Tides ). To include, scientists found that volcanic eruptions and tides have a relationship because of the magma flowing in volcanoes. Geologists use specific instruments like: seismometers, tiltmeters, and strainmeters to measure slow shifts. Results from these tools are placed on a graph to view the various movements of Earth. The bony collar of long bones helps them withstand compressive stress by the mechanism described in #4A above (i.e. hydroxyapatite, weight bearing pillars). In addition, long bones also withstand compressive forces by virtue of the spongy ( cancellous ) bone in the epiphyses. The interlocking network of bony plates (called trabeculae ) found in spongy bone help to distribute the weight of the body out to the tough bony collar of the diaphysis. In this way, bony plates act much like the trusses or struts in old time railroad bridges which distribute the weight of the train evenly over the entire bridge. 7. Mr. Herman was highly regarded and recognized as a prominent businessman in Jamaica (Montaldo, 2017). Ferguson had four brothers and afforded the privileges that wealth offers in an extreme poverty area. He graduated from Calabar High School in 1969 with a grade average that was ranked in the top third of his class (Montaldo, 2017). In 1978 his father was killed in a car crash and a short time later his mother died from cancer. He would then suffer the loss of the family fortune. At 23 years old Ferguson left Kingston, Jamaica and moved to the U.S. on a Visitor s Visa (Montaldo, 2017). Ferguson arrived in America in 1978 into a time when there were mostly white families holding privilege and wealth and leaving a cultural that was quite the opposite from American. They soon moved to Long Island but Ferguson continued to be frustrated with reports of loss of temper, outrage, and racial bigotry toward white people who he felt stood in his way (Montaldo, 2017). In Jamaica he was born into one of the top families in Kingston; Government and top military members attended his father s funeral. In America he was not given this honor which appeared to ... The Code of Bushido was followed by the ancient Japanese, which respected the ways of warrior. It was a code that taught the Japanese dedication and respect for their Emperor and their family. The code had required warriors to exhibit a strict sense of honor and self control, maintain a benevolent yet detached attitude towards life, care for the Earth and other people, and be loyal to one s country and family. However, the Emperor had used the Code of Bushido to brainwash and control soldiers. The Emperor used it as a tool to motivate the people to murder and die for the code. According to the Japanese, if you surrendered, you would disappoint your family and country. In World War II when the Japanese were held prisoner in Cowra prison in Australia, many of them changed their names so that their parents assumed they were dead rather than disappointing them. The Code of Bushido made the Japanese treat the Americans and Filipinos in a savage and brutal manner. Moreover, the Japanese s treatment of prisoners affected how Americans saw them. The Americans believed the Japanese were brutal human beings. The Americans saw them as that because during the Bataan Death March, if you stopped marching, the Japanese would kill you with a bayonet or rifle. Then, if you tried to help someone who fell, you would get beaten or stabbed. Also for a sport, Japanese soldiers would fracture sculls with rifle butts. • 41. I Watched An Episode Of Dance Moms For this assignment, I watched an episode of Dance Moms, a Lifetime reality show about a dance team of young girls, their mothers, and their teacher. Earlier on in the program s years, the show focused more on the life of a dancer, and the commitment the each dancer had to make to compete. However in the most recent episodes, such as the one I watched entitled Another One Bits the Dust the 28th episode in season four, the focus seems to have shifted to more surface level cat fights between the adults. Once one is able to get to know the characters, the drama created from these altercations is absorbing and overpowering to the point where the reality part of the show seems overly influenced by the conducts of the show s producers and directors. With the use of classic character roles, creative filming, and clever scene selections, the creators of Dance Moms tell a manipulated story of competitive dance and all its participants, and direct the way they all are perceived in order to keep the intended audience engaged, excited, and entertained with the show. From the moment the episode starts, the classic good versus evil narrative begins, and the characters are quickly established for those who might not be loyal watchers. The opening few minutes showcase Abby Lee Miller. As the owner and director of the Abby Lee Dance Company, Abby tells her students and their mothers who did the best at the most recent competition, and who did the worst. She posts their faces in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
