for your media product?
Q5. How did you attract/address
your audience?

The Ideal Reader for my Magazine
 The target audience for my music magazine will be aimed towards mid to
late teens e.g. 15-25 year old females. My magazine would not appeal to
audiences of around 12 years or under because of the kind of stories that
will feature inside the magazine.
 The reader would have to be interested in new upcoming POP artists/
bands and the latest news within the POP music industry.
 Show an interest in POP artists such as One Direction and Ed Sheeran.
 Because my magazine will feature pop artist more suited for a female
audience, my magazine will be mostly aimed at a female audience.
 The video playing at the beginning would be the sort of music the ideal
reader would listen to.
Target Audience
This is Lucy, she is a 16 year old, female student
and enjoys listening to bands such as one
direction and Ed Sheeran. She shows interest in
everyday hobbies such as horse riding and
photography. Lucy is interested in what is
trending in her age group, such as fashion
trends and pop artists. She is into social media
and likes to be up to date with all the latest and
top stories with different media; therefore, this
magazine would be suited to her because we
include all the latest stories about POP artists
and bands. We also offer fashion tips with in our
magazine including shopping articles.
How did I attract my Target audience?
One way I attracted my target audience was through the use of informal language. This
would be able to interact the reader as it would take a more friendly approach to the
magazine. I also included direct address and eye contact in the images used
throughout the magazine in order to attract the reader and make them feel targeted
personally; this would have increased the chances of them picking up the magazine
and reading it.
In order to attract my target audience, I had to include suitable stories that would relate
to their interests and would therefore interest them. For example, the article I had
created was about how Emily Hendzel had previously dated another celebrity and had
also been given hatred comments about how two faced she is. The article give the
reader gossip about the content and also gives the artists personal opinion on the
situation she has been put in. this would relate to the interests of my ideal reader
because they would be interested in the stories of this new POP artist.
I also attracted my target audience with the use of clothing and make up on each artist
that featured in the images. The artists have been dressed in the latest clothing trends
in order to attract the readers attention. Clothing like the burgundy turtle neck and the
purple, flowery top are what is in fashion and are both items of clothing that would
attract the suited reader.
The use of colour throughout my music magazine was something that was
chosen in order to attract my target audience. I decided to chose quite bright
colours in order to portray the ‘POP’ theme. The colours also linked with the
images in the magazine- making the magazine appear more professional.
The was a wide use of pinks and purples used in the magazine that would
have attracted more of a female audience; this was my intention.
