The document discusses plans for a rock music magazine targeted at men aged 16-26. The magazine will feature pictures of rock artists and bands to symbolize the genre. It will also include information on new media and how to follow the magazine online. The target audience is described as aspirers who want to emulate rock fashion styles or individualists who are simply fans of the music. The magazine publishing house that could publish this rock magazine is proposed to be IPC Media since they have not published a rock magazine before. Artists will be represented looking like authentic rock stars in black clothes and accessories holding instruments to reinforce the genre.

Moodboard
1.
2. I selected rock music a my genre to do as it is an interesting genre , which are aimed at young adults and adults. This is a
more mature genre compared to pop. This would be good as I will be able to find people who could do a photo shoot and
look the part. I chose these pictures to symbolise what rock is about. The different instruments , clothes , accessories and
bands. On my mood board, I added some pictures of old rock magazine covers in order to assist me when I'm making the
real magazine. I have images on how a rock environment would be like at a concert. The artists I included in my mood
board are big names in the rock music industry, like ACDC and green day. Every picture on the mood board is associated
with the word rock. My target audience for my magazine is an age range between 16 – 26.
3. proposal
The genre for the magazine I am making is rock and is aimed at men between the age of 16 and 26. The music magazine which has
inspired me to base my magazine around rock is the Kerrang magazine. The masthead of my magazine will be eye – catching by
making the masthead in big and bold letters , and adding a colour scheme where the target audience will see it, and instantly
recognise that it’s a rock magazine.
My magazine will have a contents page, to tell the readers what to expect on each page. My contents page will include columns of
what will be in the magazine, this will summarise what certain pages are about. I will also include pictures of rock artists, it will talk
about new media and how people can follow the page on Facebook and Twitter. I will also include subscription information in order to
show people that they can order this magazine weekly. My magazine will also include a strapline to introduce the main page.My
magazine will have a huge anchoring image which will dominate the front page to attract the eyes of my target audience. Themise –
en- scene of this magazine will relate to rock with the clothing and dark colour scheme.
Audience: My target audience is aimed at men between the age of 16 – 26. my audience may be aspirers as they would want to
purchase the certain fashion style if they are really into rock , for example they may buy, black clothes and look the look. However
some people may be individualists as not everyone would purchase the fashion style of a rock star but some individuals would.
Institution: The magazine publishing house that would be publishing my rock magazine would be IPC media as they have yet to
publish a rock magazine. I chose this publishing house as they haven’t published a magazine which is based on rock.
Representation: I will represent my artists by making them look how an actual rock artist is supposed to look. I would dressthem up
wearing black clothes, slightly ripped jeans, wearing an earing and have different coloured hair(wig) for example red. Theywould
pose holding a mic in their hand, act like they're shouting into it, another pose would be making the artist hold an electric guitar, so
create the image that this artist is a rock star. This reinforces the genre as this represents all the visions that come to peoples mind
when they hear the word rock star.
4. Audience profile
Bob is 18 and lives in London. He is a huge fan of rock music and imitates their fashion style. Theirs nothing
he likes more than rock music. He loves to go to gigs and festivals. He would do anything to be able to meet
his favourite band and artists. Bob always buys and organises the gigs him and his friends would like to go to.
Bob has a professional job and has a degree to be a doctor. He always makes time so he is able to enjoy his
music and make it to big gigs and concerts/festivals. As he has a professional job he has more disposable
income to spend on concerts and festivals.
He is married but has no kids. This allows him to attend concerts and festivals with his wife, instead of taking
care of a child and not enjoying what he loves most.
Bob is a huge fan of technology, especially if he can listen and download music on it. He first introduced
himself to an iPod, then IPad, he was gradually promoting himself in technology and eventually he got an
iPhone so he can transfer all of his music from his iPod and iPad onto his phone, enabling him to listen on the
go.
He downloads most of his rock music onto his phone by the app Spotify, where he bought a subscription and
gets all the latest music for a low price.
