WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE
PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING
THIS PRODUCT?
Whilst making my magazine I have used various software’s
and learnt how to use them properly. I used photoshop,
indesign and wordpress to make my overall magazine. Some
softwares work better for different parts of the magazine. For
the research and presenting my work I used wordpress. For
the cover and contents page I used photoshop and indesign
for the article.
For the cover I used photoshop as it was
easiest to make the cover on there. Photoshop
allowed me to use a photo and put layers of
text over the top to make the front cover. The
main tool I used was the text tool so that I
could put the masthead and other text on.
Photoshop allowed me to change the size and
colour of text and position it where I want too
so that I could create the masthead, coverlines
etc.
For the contents page I also used
Photoshop as it was the easiest to
position text and photos. As you can
see on the photo there is ruler lines so
that I could line everything up and have
all of the text and photos in the right
places and not out of line. Photoshop
also makes it easier to have different
text sizes and fonts. Through
Photoshop I was able to make the
contents page have a smooth look and
have it all lined perfectly with the
different fonts and pictures in the right
places.
For my article I used indesign
because it was easy to make
it across the two page
spread. It also makes it easy
to structure the text and
position it so it all looks
smooth. There are ruler lines
and structure lines around
the text making it easy to
position everything. It was
also better as it is easy to put
quotes over or in the middle
of other text and pictures.
The quote on the picture was
easy to do and so was the
one in the text as you could
select the quote and bring it
forward or make the other
text position around it.
HARDWARE
Instead of taking photos in school I did them outside of
school because although the main thing is the model I
wanted to make sure that there was a good fore and
background on the picture so that it suits the magazine
better. The background made the pictures suit the different
parts of the magazine better. The cover image best suited the
cover and the article photo suited that because the
foreground is a faded white colour which suited the contents
of the article better. The only downside to this was that I had
to take the photos on my phone so the quality wasn’t great. I
only did this because I believe the background is important
in a photo to give it the right feel.

As you can see on the photo there is ruler lines so that I could line everything up and have all of the text and photos in the right places and not out of line. Photoshop also makes it easier to have different text sizes and fonts. Through Photoshop I was able to make the contents page have a smooth look and have it all lined perfectly with the different fonts and pictures in the right places.
  • 5. For my article I used indesign because it was easy to make it across the two page spread. It also makes it easy to structure the text and position it so it all looks smooth. There are ruler lines and structure lines around the text making it easy to position everything. It was also better as it is easy to put quotes over or in the middle of other text and pictures. The quote on the picture was easy to do and so was the one in the text as you could select the quote and bring it forward or make the other text position around it.

HARDWARE Instead of taking photos in school I did them outside of school because although the main thing is the model I wanted to make sure that there was a good fore and background on the picture so that it suits the magazine better. The background made the pictures suit the different parts of the magazine better. The cover image best suited the cover and the article photo suited that because the foreground is a faded white colour which suited the contents of the article better. The only downside to this was that I had to take the photos on my phone so the quality wasn’t great. I only did this because I believe the background is important in a photo to give it the right feel.
