How does your media
product represent
particular social groups?
By olliemay
Cover Image
Jack is shown as an Eminem wannabe, this is
shown though the facial expression and the
lighting on his face which also looks like an
image that Eminem used in one of his
magazines. The black puffer jacket works well
with the lighting as on the right side the light
bounces off of it but on the left there is no
light, it gradually decreases and the fact that
he is wearing a black jacket makes it look
better because the fade works really well. He is
also making eye contact with the camera with
his head slightly tilted down and to the side
showing that he is looking at the reader in a
sense. The facial expression makes you wonder
what he has to offer in the article, it makes the
audience curious especially a younger age
group.
Feature article
Jack is still wearing the same black puffer
jacket that he was in the cover, the only
thing that has changed is the lighting and
the facial expression, he is also looking
away from the camera now. This could show
all the hard times young people go through
and that you need to look on into the future
rather than worrying about what has
happened when you can think about what
could happen if you try your best.
Text of article
The type of article I used was a Q and A
based article, I found this easier to write and
talk about as it was more about the life of
the artist and his true words rather than a
story being told by the media and making
things up. I think for the genre of music it is
a good type of article as it gets straight to
the point and its easy for the target
audience to understand.There is no
extreme formal text, it is quite informal as it
relates to the target audience and genre.
Features column on
contents page
The artists chosen to feature in this article are
all well known rap/R’n’B. Rihanna a Drake fit
well as they are part of a similar genre who
have been thought to have something between
them for a while now. Post Malone is recently
new to the game and it fits well to see if he will
go far within the genre. Nelly is slowly fading.
KanyeWest has had a lot of ins and outs of
music whilst being with Kim. All these artists fit
the genre of music and their stories could be
told by real magazines. The target audience
would have heard of these artists and
presumably would like to read on and see what
their story is within the article.
