1. Bauer
Bauer is a multi- national institution that was founded in 1875. Bauer is
responsible for publishing Kerrang, Q and MOJO. Bauer had published well over
600 magazines, 50 radio, tv and over 400 digital products. Bauer is such a big
institution it has a work force of over 11,000 employees in 17 countries.
As good as Bauer is, I don’t think it would be suitable to publish my magazine as it
doesn't relate to my genre or would be beneficial to my magazine.
2. Egmont
Egmont is a corporation within media and was founded and rooted in Denmark
1878. Traditionally, Egmont has been only magazine publishing, however in the
past years they have branched out and evolved to comprise mass media generally.
The company publishes magazines such as ‘We Love Pop’ and ‘Go Girl’.
Egmont would not be suitable what so ever to publish my magazine. They have a
younger audience and only appeals to girls, where as my magazine is more for the
mature audience and is suitable for both genders.
3. Wenner
Wenner is a private help company by Americans in New York City. They publish
magazines such as Rolling Stone, Men’s Journal and Us Weekly. Their main focus
is on popular culture.
Even though this company has the same age group and both genders, it doesn’t
relate to my genre so it would not benefit me in publishing my magazine.
4. Time Inc UK
Despite Time inc only been founded in 1968, it is a hugely successful magazine
and digital publishing intuition in the United Kingdom. It has a large portfolio
selling over 350 million copies anually. The publish a range of magazines such as
as NME to lifestyle magazines like NOW.
I think It would be beneficial to publish my magazine as NME is quite a similar sort
to my magazine following the same genre, age range and genders.
5. Distribution
One of the places I thought of distributing my magazine would be in a
supermarket, the reason being is because it is a popular place where all types of
people go and could potentially try my magazine as well as my primary audience.
This place is the most obvious and know as a place to buy magazines.
Another place would be college and university's, due to my age group, I think this
would be suitable as you start college from the age of 16.
One other idea I had was at gigs, I think that publishing my magazine at R&B gigs
specifically is a good idea as it will be appealing to my audience without trying too
hard to get it noticed.
