institution might
distribute your media
product and why?
The publisher for my ‘Rewind’ pop music magazine is
EGMONT UK ltd. This is a big UK based multimedia
publishing conglomerate that promotes and publishes
reading to developing children and teenagers. This
company publishes a wide variety of magazines ranging
from entertainment for under 7 year olds to popular
pop music magazines like 'We love pop’ for teenagers.
The Egmont Group was founded by Egmont Harald Petersen in 1878
as a one-man printing business, but was quick at starting a
magazine business. Today EGMONT UK ltd. publishes over a million
magazines within a one month period that are distributed in retail
stores and in turn homes across the whole of the UK. Through the
magazines they publish they open up the imaginations of children
through favourite characters and they engage teenagers through
their interests and attitudes that are presented by people they can
relate to.
EGMONT UK ltd. publishes its magazines through the
use of different multimedia platforms like iPad’s, Kindles
and the internet. This is a major advantage for my
magazine as nowadays teenagers are consistently
drawn into technologies such as those, and the fact that
EGMONT UK ltd. provides this service will appeal to my
target demographic as they are able to access my
‘Rewind’ pop music magazine online or through the use
of this technology and not have to physically buy it from
a retail store they are unable to do so.
