1. Question .2
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
The association between my both of my ancillary tasks are very clear, as there are
specific themes, layout designs, mise-en-scene and setting that correlate with each
other. The primary themes of my ancillary tasks such as domestic violence and
teenage bullying are demonstrated through the image of Lola on her own, which
further emphasises her isolation and the verbal abuse she is receiving from her peers.
The layouts also have similar correlations between the both ancillary tasks, the
primary focus being the image of Lola on her own, are placed on the right hand side
of the post. We have also used the rule of thirds when contemplating where to place
the image and title, as you can see the majority of the text is placed the left of the
page. Moreover, certain aspects the mise-en-scene also work effectively for example
the costume clothing of school uniform is used in both of the ancillary tasks to
promote how she is a school student. However, the colour pallet that is used between
the to ancillary products does not correlate very well, in the film poster my peers and
i have implemented various greens, yellows and black making the poster vibrant and
eye-catching to our intended demographic of BC1 males and females aged 15-20.
In contrast, the film review has a very bland colour range, with the majority of colour
being black with the odd use of the colour red for the sub-headings, these simplistic
colours have connotations of sophistication, and have been purposefully used so the
intended demographic pay more attention to the text and have a clearer and more
into depth insight on the plot of our short-film ‘Enemy’.

2. Question 2.
How do our ancillary products create a clear synergy
with a main product?
The above are film extracts from our short film.
There a a variety of reasons as to why our ancillary tasks and
main product have a strong synergy
1. The majority of the shots and scenes within the short film correlate with the ancillary tasks, as the primary focus further
emphasises the isolation in Lola’s life.
2. The ancillary tasks help to provide the intended demographic with a more in depth insight into the content of the film
and the key social-realism themes that may emerge.
3. Colour preference has also enhanced the synergy between both the ancillary products and the main tasks. my group and
i have mainly stuck to dull and melancholy colours, which has various connotations of sadness, isolation and misery
which help to draw in the audience.
4. The ancillary products also help to promote and broadcast our film to the intended demographic of BC1 16-25 year old
males and females. Whilst the poster acts as a visual insight and allows the audience to be objective in their judgement of
the film, the film review shows depth detail, including clear analysis of various scenarios including both positive feedback
and elements of critical analysis.
