The document discusses a film trailer and poster created for a teen drama film project. It analyzes how the trailer and poster follow conventions of real media products to advertise the film. The trailer uses techniques like montages of clips and music to set the tone. It challenges conventions by including a twist to the typical romance plot involving violence. The poster features a silhouette image from the trailer to create mystery and intrigue about the forbidden relationship at the center of the film.
The document discusses an evaluation of a film trailer and its ancillary tasks (poster and magazine cover). Feedback was gathered from a student audience who viewed the trailer. The feedback was positive about the cinematography, acting, and a silhouette shot. However, the storyline was seen as too cliche. Based on this, changes were made to improve storyline clarity and add a second song to vary tempo. Various media technologies were used in production, including Photoshop, Pinnacle Studio, and Fronter.

Within their thriller project, the student produced a film poster, magazine cover, and trailer that were all consistent in images, fonts, effects, color schemes, and lighting to portray the products as part of a cohesive brand. Specifically, the images of the actresses on the poster and magazine cover used the same facial features and lip colors to convey danger. The same photos were reused in the trailer and poster but zoomed in. A simple font in white with red stroke was used consistently across all products to look mysterious yet belong to the same brand. Low key lighting through dark tones, images, and filming times created a sense of danger and suspense across the products. The colors red and white were emphasized in the print works to convey
The document discusses the effectiveness of combining a main product (a film trailer) with ancillary tasks like a film poster and magazine cover. For the poster and trailer, the same fonts and color red were used to link them while conveying danger. The poster image comes from the trailer to hint at the ghost story plot. The magazine cover features one actress in character to focus the image and represent the trailer, and uses similar genre films and people to emphasize the thriller theme. Both ancillary tasks effectively promote the trailer while maintaining separate styles.
The document discusses the consistency of style across the main products (trailer, magazine cover, poster) for a horror film called Vengeance. It analyzes the imagery, fonts, colors, and costumes used to maintain visual cohesion and allow the audience to recognize the same character, theme and genre across different marketing materials. Social media like Facebook and TV advertisements are also proposed as effective ways to promote the film to a mainstream audience, especially younger target demographics that engage with those platforms.

The document discusses how effective the combination of a film's main products (trailer, poster, magazine cover) is at establishing a strong brand identity. It analyzes the student's film marketing campaign, noting how a consistent red color scheme and inclusion of a red cup across all products helps create recognition and links between them. While the font and taglines are not entirely consistent, the campaign utilizes other visual and narrative elements like characters and themes to tie the products together. Research on other films' campaigns informed the student's efforts to similarly employ shared visuals, colors, and messaging to effectively build an identifiable brand.

How effective is the combination of your main
1. By Rebecca Collier
Question 2 :How effective is the
combination of your main product
and ancillary texts?

2. Our ancillary tasks suits
our chick flick genre film
trailer. I think this is
because we have used

the use of layout and

3. Teaser Poster Inspiration
When creating the teaser poster we
used inspirational images as a
baseline comparison, we wanted to
represent all characters like they
have in the Mean Girls and St
Trinians posters as a group.
However all posters show one
character is the main character, the
two inspirational posters have
placed the main character in the
centre. We have challenged the
codes and conventions of posters
by placing our main character on
the far left.
4. Inspirational Images
For the introduction of
characters we used this
picture, we wanted to show
all characters in comparison
to show their geeky
traits, and Sam’s popular
look. An Inspirational image
was the skins character
poster it shows all characters
showing their personality
such as anger from character
Katy. The reason for these
posters is to show a
comparison between actors.
5. The image clearly
displays that Sam is

6. Teaser Poster
We started cuttingaround the
actresses and putting them in a new
layer, which let me smooth out the
background so it was fully clear. We
also added a shadow to the models
layer to create a 3D feel.
For the title we used Princetown LET
as its a font regularly shown in
schools, which I too used a shadow
to make it stand out more. It is in
the same colour as Sam's dress to
make it clear that she is the main
character
7. How they link to the video?
They link to the video, as I have tried to include
the same colour scheme we used for our
ancillary texts of pinks, blacks and whites and
silvers. This was to show a consistency over
different media forms. We have also made
characters wear the same style of clothing so
their look and fashion sense does not differ
over the different media forms.
8. Conclusion and how well they worked?
I think our ancillary texts and our video work well as a
combination as they both target the specific audience we
chose ( Teenage Girls ). We can see the narrative from the
posters as Sam is either shown on the poster on her own
or slightly out casted from the others. We have placed her
this way on the posters to show does she belong with
these other characters? Which is what the whole plot of
the film is based around which the trailer clearly shows.
They all work together because of the consistency of the
media products as they all have the same colour
schemes, actors and show the same narrative. All media
products clarify the plot, and the relationship between
actors.
