INTRODUCTION
๏ฝ Quality Circle is one of the employees
participation methods implies the
development of the skills, capabilities,
confidence and creativity of the people
through cumulative process of education,
training and participation.
๏ฝ Provides certain facilitative conditions and
environment of work, which creates and
sustains their motivation and commitment.
DEFINITION
๏ฝ Quality circle is small group of employees in the
same work who voluntarily meets regularly for about
an hour every week to identify, analyse and resolve
work related problems.
OBJECTIVE OF QC
๏ถChange in Attitude:
From โ€˜I donโ€™t careโ€™ to โ€˜I do careโ€™
๏ถSelf Development:
Bring out โ€˜Hidden Potentialโ€™.
๏ถDevelopment of Team Spirit:
Individual vs Team- โ€˜I could not do but we

training, initiating formation of QC and

Steering Committee:
๏ฝ An apex body operating at plant level.
๏ฝ Is responsible for formulating objectives and provide
resources for QC members.
Top Management:
๏ฝ The decision making body, provides support and
encouragement.
๏ฝ Consists of- chief executive, general managers and
senior managers.
CONCEPTS MAKE QC PROCESS MORE
EFFECTIVE
๏ถ Persuasion by all parties concerned that tehre is
more than one way to solve a problem.
๏ถ Encouragement to clarify and build on each otherโ€™s
ideas.
๏ถ Periodic summarizing of the activities by leaders to
ensure common understanding.
๏ถ Avoidance of heated arguments in favour of one
particular position
๏ถ Avoidance of such techniques as majority vote and
division to obtain group agreement.
๏ถ Promotion of constructive disagreements in place of
dodging arguments in search of artificial state of
harmony.
๏ถ Suspicion of agreement that comes to quickly and
easily.
