Understanding National Culture And A Common Values And...
1. Introduction
According to Hofstede definition, it is possible to develop the idea of national culture as the common
values and attitudes shared by a particular group of humans that are passed down between generations
by different processes (Hofstede, 1980, p. 21).
Given this, the primary target of this essay is to analyse the fundamental approaches to understand
national culture and the way that this culture can manifest and make the difference in the entry of
companies in new markets.
In order to achieve this goal, I shall proceed to explain these approaches one by one using different
business examples, discuss the prime criticisms and conclude with the importance of these for
international business. 2. Approaches to National ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that same expressions, words or sentences could change their meanings drastically in
different contexts, thus being necessary to understand it correctly. (Hall, 1976, pp. 85 104)
Following this argument, Hall says that each culture has a particular way to understand the
background. For instance, American people usually tends to have quick relationships and do not feel
an essential implication with friends. On the contrary in the Middle East, people take more time to
establish relations and hope that friends will not let you down. (Hall, 1960).
Furthermore, Hall builds a differentiation between High Context and Low Context cultures using
characteristics which could be divided in:
Source: (Andrews Mead, 2009).
This context model could be used in numerous situations that firms who attempt to be global may
face. For example, if a company is going to operate a foreign direct investment, it has to deal not only
with this differences with other companies, as in a joint venture experience, but also with the own
national workers and even with the costumer behaviour
Moreover, Hall also introduces the concept of polychronic and monochronic in order to describe how
cultures perceive, structure and manage time. Cultures identified as monochronic experience time as
settle components that can be scheduled and the result is that they select to do one action at a time.
Otherwise, polychronic cultures appreciate time as continuous, without structure

Contributions Of The Pension System
A defined contribution (DC) scheme on the other hand is a pension plan whose value depends on an
individual s own contributions, those from his/her employer and the government; generally in the form
of a tax relief. These contributions are reinvested in the stock market and upon retirement, the
accumulated value of the fund is received and can be used to secure a pension income. A choice is
usually made to either purchase an annuity (a product which offers a guaranteed income for life), used
as a drawback (reinvesting the fund value in the stock market from which income can be drawn when
needed) or a mixture of both. It is also worth noting that a maximum of 25% of the pension fund is
available for withdrawal as a Tax free lump sum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The inequalities experienced (for example married couples earning higher state pension than
unmarried people and women generally allocated to a lower State pension than men) under the current
system have led to these general low levels of savings for retirement. According to the Office of
National Statistics (ONS), it is projected that about 36% of the population born in 2013 will live past
the age of 100 as compared to the 1940 s where mortality was estimated at 68years . These constant
and gradual improvement in longevity estimates, will give rise to a higher ageing population being
formed relative to a lower increase in working population. Consequently all current tax incomes to the
government will not be sufficient to be pay the retirement income for the aging population, hence
increasing the burden on the government to finance the ageing as it cannot sustain the pension system.
The complex nature in estimating one s retirement earnings characterised by additional benefits
reward for long term services, alongside the increasing dependence on means tested benefits, has led
to a general misunderstanding of the current pension scheme. Over the years, this has prevented many
people from knowing and deciding on how and why they should save towards their retirement and has
often led to people not saving at all. The state pension is unfunded. Under the current pension system,
it was realised that all

Fat taxes have been experimented with in numerous European...
Fat taxes have been experimented with in numerous European countries. There are many benefits such
as boosting economic growth, improving health and elongating life expectancy. On the contrary if a
fat tax is implemented into a weak economy it could cause the loss of jobs due to higher prices. These
higher prices cause local consumers to begin to purchase their unhealthy products in different states or
countries, causing the loss of business for local industries. France, Hungary and Denmark all have
experimented with the enactment of a fat tax. All four countries experienced varied results with both
positive and negative outcomes. The French, when implementing the Junk Food Tax , wanted to
decrease unhealthy food eating habits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Energy drink producers have changed their recipe, playing a cat and mouse game with the government
and their new tax regulations. There is much opposition and debate over this, and difficult economic
times have created unrest with the residents. Still, the tax with all of this negative feedback has
survived, unlike the experiment performed in Denmark. Denmark implanted a fat tax on food products
containing more than 2.3% saturated fat. After only being in place for one year, Denmark repealed the
fat tax and got rid of an impending tax on sugar in 2012. The tax was causing the loss of jobs due to
the increased cost of doing business . Consumers began buying food products in Sweden and
Germany. Many younger adults who would frequently purchase bags of chips after school simply
began buying different brands of potato chips that merely just changed the types of ingredients to meet
the governments fat tax demands. While the tax did bring in $216 million for the government, the
higher price of meat, dairy and butter proved to be too much for the Hungarian economy to handle.
With the loss of consumers in Denmark, business owners were not able to sustain consistent sales to
stay profitable. Americans would have even less options for buying foreign food products considering
our geography, compared to that of Denmark. With mixed results it is necessary to carry out
evaluations before implementing a fat tax. The state of

The polling result indicate that Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump in the November election.
Mainstream media outlets like NBC and CBS have consistently manipulated the polling statistics with
a clear validity of slanting the purported outcome.
Notwithstanding, ABC filled the airwaves with negative information on Trump, and ignoring the
negative the negative Clinton and reported only positive information.
Constantly reminding people that Clinton will win might influence people to vote for her who
otherwise would not.
Additionally, this could boomerang by perpetually advocating that Clinton has the election in the bag

In addition to groupthink being at work hear there was also a fear of separation. This became apparent
when Morton Thiokol revised their initial warning about the O ring failure at the request of NASA
management.
Morton Thiokol wanted to be a part of the NASA team and did not want to remain apart from them
and although the decision was political in nature the fear of separation was so overwhelming that it
contributed to groupthink and they indicated that all danger signal s were acceptable risk.
Ethical gaps are compounded at the organizational level.
For example the explosion of the Challenger that was launched at a temperature it could not tolerate.
Post crash studies acknowledged that the explosion was caused by an O ring failed to seal on one of
the shuttle s solid rocket boosters.
The night before the launch, engineers and managers from NASA and Morton Thiokol met to discuss
the safety of the launch of the Challenger in a low temperature.
The shuttle program had previous launch problems with O rings had been detected. Now, under
intense pressure, Morton Thiokol engineers recommended to NASA personnel that the shuttle should
not be launched at low temperatures, but this recommendation was ignored (Bazerman, and
Tenbrunsel, 2011).
Most of us overvalue our ethicality in effect, we are unaware of

Family Capitalism And The 19th Century
Family capitalism is regarded to firms that are operated by family and its family member, although it
is also known as perpetuation of family capitalism, which means long live and long lasting, they
usually could not be passed on by more than one generation (Jones and Rose, 1993). Since the early
20th Century, among the world, Europe had a concentration of the largest ten and twenty companies in
countries that are under family control. For instance in France at the beginning of the 21st Century,
only 15 families had controlled 33.8% of the total market value of listed corporate assets; and in
Germany, family firms hold 17 of the largest hundred companies. However on the other hand, there
was only 6.6% of market value that were hold by family firms in the United Kingdom (James, 2008).
The aim of this essay is to explain whether Cadbury was a typical family capitalism in the 19th
Century. I will argue that Cadbury was not a typical family capitalism as they held the Quaker beliefs
that made them different from other family firms; they also had a different organisation structure and
management style; and they lasted longer than the other family firms at that time. This essay is
structure as follows; first, I will explain the Quaker belief and how it made Cadbury different from
other family firms; then I will examine Cadbury s organisation structure and management style; and
finally, I will look at the durability of Cadbury and compare it with another family firm.

anyone the right to tell someone else that since they talk in a different language they should leave/ be

United Nations Peacekeeping Development And Crisis
United Nations Peacekeeping Development and Crisis
Abstract
The objective of the paper is to review the development of United Nations peacekeeping forces. After
World War II, the United Nations had been given new opportunities to help control and resolve
conflicts. As a result, new tasks and new method had to be adopted in order to adapt the fast world
changing situation and continue growing conflicts which could endanger the international peace.
Therefore, the UN peacekeeping forces play a very important role in keeping peace in conflict regions.
This paper also examines some crisis UN is now facing. It examines whether state participation in UN
peace keeping results from a state s idealistic commitment to the global community and international
peace or whether participation is tied to the state s national interest. With the high profile of UN peace
keeping in this post Cold War era, the answer to this inquiry may suggest to us whether the emerging
international system will be organized on the principles of community or self.

many nations that has suffered from the World War I. Under the strong demand for an international

Why Is Winston Churchill A Turning Point Of Ww2
The Battle of Britain fought from July 10, to October 31 1940 was the largest, cruelest air battle in
history fought in World War Two. The battle was between Germany and Britain. Britain was sinking
ships carrying Germans across the channel, therefore Hitler wanted to destroy the British air force in
order to stop he called for operation Sealion (the invasion of Britain) by sending the his air force (the
Luftwaffe) to destroy the RAF in order to make it easier to take control of the entire country. Germany
was feared, they invaded and defeated every country in their path. However, Britain won which set a
turning point of WW2, marking the first defeat of Hitler s military forces. Winston Churchill,

2081 Unit 1 Essay
The film 2081 directed by Chandler Tuttle is an adaption of the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt
Vonnegurt Jr. Which looks into a dystopian society which everyone is finally equal. Vonnegurt wanted
to show us how absurd the world will become when everyone is equal and Tuttle has convey that
perfectly in his adaption. The story is told from George Bergeron perspective as he watches his son
Harrison performs his act of rebellion and his own requiem. Tuttle uses Harrison to criticise how
absurd perfect equality is and uses George to show how media can control our lives and dictate how
we view of our society. Tuttle uses various film techniques to emphasise character s emotion and their
view about the society they are in. In the scene where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Harrison got shot on television, George is left with sadness of his son s death but immediately
forgets about it after the headphone rings. The overall effect of this scene is to challenge our moral of
parent s responsibility of a child and also create a sense of imprisonment. The scene starts with a mid
shot of George which show his expression of sadness towards his son s death on the television. Then
the diegetic sounds of the headphone come in to interrupt his thoughts. The diegetic sounds combines
with jump cuts create the effect of memories and thoughts scattering away. We can see George s pain
from the sound alternating with flashback of Harrison being taken away. Tuttle wanted to emphasises
to the audience again that in order to achieves perfect equality, this is how absurd the world will be.
Parent s will have to forget that children s death right in front of their eyes or how the government is
shooting innocence people on television. The following shots create a contrast between George and
Hazel. When we see George in a full shot, the composition on the frame has the right half and the top
part covered. This works with lead lines to show George s imprisonment and how is his confine to
area in the box. Tuttle uses this to symbolise George s view of the current society. He knows that the
government is controlling him but as he says nothing we can do about it then to Hazel s suggestion of
taking of the handicaps.

The Great Gatsby Truly Great
Greatness lies in everyone despite who you are or what you do. You can be anything in the world and
still be great if you care enough about something that you are willing to do anything for it. In F. Scott
Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, he illustrates this idea. Gatsby was truly great because he did
everything for the one he truly loved, which was Daisy despite how he made his money. Gatsby
conveys how truly great he is by his never ending desire to get back together with Daisy. Daisy was
the one that he truly loved and all he wanted was to be together again. In attempt to get Daisy back,
Gatsby chose to live close to her. He bought his, house so that Daisy would be across the bay
(Fitzgerald 78). Gatsby was still in love with Daisy so, he chose to buy a house based on where Daisy
lived. His choice to buy his house across the bay from Daisy exemplifies Gatsby s desire to be with
her again. In addition to choosing to live by Daisy, Gatsby ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Life is full of loss and you cannot avoid experiencing it and well as sorrow. As people grow up they
come to realize that the world is not as it seemed to be when they were younger. They get more
independent and their perspective of life changes. They will have to realize that they are not going to
live forever. In the short story The Hurt Man, written by Wendell Berry and published in 2003, we
meet Mat who learns all of this.
During the short story Mat is growing up. He is born unexpected but he is still very much appreciated.

From Propaganda To Advertising During World War II
Abstract: From Propaganda to Advertising This paper will analyze the WWII era poster published and

other times it is overt. Propaganda posters are a form of advertising; they were used extensively by
many countries in the 1940 s during World War II. By attempting to reach the public directly with a

John Rawls And John RawlsPrinciples Of Justice
Views on social justice are highly important to defining the roles of the state within society. The
perspectives presented by John Rawls and Robert Nozick demonstrate two extremely different views
of societal justice and the roles that the state should have in society. Each of these philosophers give
their own principles of justice, which are sets of rules society must follow in order to be just. In this
paper, I will analyze the views of each of these thinkers. I will also argue that the Rawls principles of
justice are preferable to Nozick s due to Nozick s lack of focus on societal inequalities.
To understand Rawls principles of societal justice, it is important to first define exactly what a society
is. Rawls defines society as a group of people who cooperate and follow the same rules in order to
better their lives. While a society creates benefits, such as increased overall wealth, burdens like taxes
are also created. Most members of society would find more benefits and less burdens to be desirable,
and as a result, Rawls believes that principles of justice are needed to distribute these fairly.
In order to create a just society, Rawls argues that the institutions within society must be guided by the
principles of justice. Rawls definition of an institution includes both political or constitutional
structures and economic or social arrangements. Examples of institutions by Rawls definition include
social practices such as monogamy in family life. According to

Potatoes At Room Temperature
Introduction (background information, purpose and hypothesis)
We know that enzymes are protein that helps to breakdown different molecules. But what if enzymes
can be breakdown? Most enzymes need homeostasis environment to survive. Well we all know that as
the amount of temperature increases the less the enzymes .Enzymes can be denatured using
temperature, PH and salt concentration. As we know that protein structure are determined by DNA
coding. We used temperature to see if increasing or decreasing temperature affected the amount of
enzyme produced. So when the temperature is increased there will be more amount of enzymes
denature due to high temperature and it would be opposite of temperature was dropped. And a
denatured protein is biologically inactive hence it needs a homeostasis environment. Hydrogen
peroxide is used for metabolic processes. The main purpose of this lab was to see that if increase in
temperature resulted in denaturing of enzymes and comparing the time for h2o2 to bubble when using
apples, onions and potatoes at room temperature. So the main questions for this lab were how does
temperature affect the amount of enzyme present in potatoes? Will there be any change in amount of
bubbles produced if apples and onions were used with potatoes at room temperature?

We also used refrigerator and heat bath to decrease and increase the temperature of potatoes. A knife
was used to cut slices of potatoes, scale was used to measure the weight of potatoes so it does not
affect the results, refrigerator and heat bath were used to change the temperature of potatoes ,hydrogen
peroxide to show bubbling , stopwatch to measure the time. We had controls that were sliced potatoes
at room temperature to minimize the effect of variables and to compare the control to the other
variables used. Variables used were slice/smashing the potatoes and hot/cold

Summary Of The Story Of Thorstein The Staff-Struck
The story of Thorstein The Staff Struck is very short, but nevertheless, shares many traits and
characteristics of longer sagas. This story shows the characteristic features of traditional family sagas
and although action and violence are present, the narrator s main interests seem to lie in in the
personality and expression of the characters in the story. The events told in this story seem to be
deliberately told in a way to showcase the different characteristics, personalities, and choices of the
main characters as well as highlights their position in this social dilemma. . The conflicts the
characters encounter involve upholding respect from the community while preserving one s own
dignity. Every character in Thorstein creates his or her own argument, each believing that he/she is
just because they are basing their views off the accepted standards of society. This fun little tale tells
the story of an old Viking s son named Thorstein who gets into some trouble with Bjorni, the
community chieftain and wealthiest and most powerful farmer in the district, after he kills three of his
farmhands. The contentious relationship between Thorstein and Thord was not abnormal, as both men
were often in competition with one another through their horse businesses. Their respective
personalities, however, could not be further apart. Thord was one of Bjorni s servants, and was known
as an arrogant man, who constantly bragged about his prestigious position (as a servant). On the other

The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution that occurred in the late Nineteenth Century brought many new jobs that
were drastically different to the jobs that previous Americans held. While agricultural jobs still existed
and were vitally important to the sustainability of the American economy, the new factory jobs that
opened up created many new work opportunities for Americans and immigrants who came from
Europe. However, the problem with all these new industrial jobs was that they had very poor working
conditions and the work hours were long and unfair. This along with the low wages made these jobs
undesirable. Despite this, immigrant workers continued to work under these conditions because they
had nowhere else to obtain work and quitting would make it almost impossible for them to find a job
somewhere else with better working conditions and wages. The result of the low wages meant that
many immigrants living on the East Coast of the United States lived below the poverty line. There was
a fundamental problem with the working and living conditions the immigrants were experiencing.
Two political organizations of this era sought to fix this problem with two contrasting methods. The
Progressive Reformers were a political organization that sought out to set permanent fixes to these
conditions and make it possible for the immigrants to be self sustaining. On the other hand, the
political machines, more specifically Tammany Hall of Manhattan, sought to make changes by
directly helping the

Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
On March 25, 1911, a fire broke out on the top floors of the 10 story Asch Building in lower
Manhattan, New York. A fire that killed 146 of the 500 employees of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company
in what was considered one of the worst industrial disasters in the nation s history at that time. All
died due to inadequate safety precautions and lack of fire escapes. This research paper will examine
how this tragic fire changed the working labor laws as well as work safety and woman s rights.
The Triangle factory, owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris, was located in the Asch Building, on
the corner of Greene Street and Washington Place, in Manhattan. There were four elevators with
access to the factory floors, but at the time only one was fully operational ... Show more content on

Many rooms that only occupied 100 people often had 200 plus people working, machines were all
over the place and there were only 1 or 2 staircases, an elevator and one fire escape. All American
industrial workers worked an average of 54 hours a week. The 10 hour, 6 days a week became the
norm for workers. The triangle shirtwaist needs to be a constant reminder so that labor treaties no
longer occur.
By 1938 the Fair Labor Standard Act was probably one of the strongest change makers that were
produced due to the fire by establishing minimum wage, overtime pay, record keeping and youth
employment standards affecting full time and part time workers in the separate region and in federal,
state and local governments. FLSA also set wages at the same rate and paid women for overtime as
well prevented child labor until the age of 16 and older with limited working hours and jobs that
children can work.
By this moment sweatshops were wiped out. Within three years more than 36 state laws had been
passed. Even today, sweatshops have not disappeared in the United States. They keep attracting
workers today in desperate need of employment and undocumented immigrants, who may be anxious
to avoid involvement with governmental agencies. Recent studies conducted by the U.S. Department
of Labor found that 63% of New York garment factories violate minimum wage and overtime

Differences Between England And The Colonies
1. Social and Political Climate in England and the Colonies in the 1760s
The decade that began in 1760 saw England and the Colonies exiting the Seven Year s War and
welcoming in a new king. The British Empire was reaching the height of its power with its victory
over France and her Allies. This victory led to enhanced feelings of pride and loyalty to the empire.
(Middlekauff, 2005).
This was not to last however, as the English and American societies were beginning to drift apart. A
lot of this was brought about by the differences inherent in the two societies as the American colonists
had a different class and political structure. More Americans, at least white males, owned property,
there was greater religious diversity, and the population was more ethnically diverse. ( Overview of
the colonial era, n.d.). This ethnic diversity was in large part due to immigration from various parts of
Europe such as Germany, as well as other parts of the British Empire such as Scotland and Ireland.
These immigrants brought with them different political, social and religious traditions that impacted
the overall structure of the colonies. Many of these immigrants ... Show more content on

Administration of government in the colonies was accomplished by representative legislatures that
were called by various names. The colonies also had and established tradition of individual rights
under the English Common Law and the English Constitution. (Lustig, 2003). This understanding of
rights and legal responsibilities differed from those of England as the British Parliament had neglected
the administration of the colonies during the early 1700s. During this period the Colonies and England
both benefited economically from the lack of regulation and enforcement. Because of this neglect, the
colonies became more autonomous and less dependent on the British Parliament (Wallenfeldt,

Gregory Lee Johnson
People watched in shock; Protesters and none protesters circled around as Gregory Lee Johnson lit the
American Flag on fire. Why would a man disrespect a symbol such as the American flag, that
represents freedom, liberty and democracy? Was he protected by the constitution s first amendment?
The Supreme Court answered all these questions we had by voting in favor of Johnson. Johnson s
intentions were only political, and he as the freedom of speech. The Supreme Court was correct on
this decision on letting Johnson go, since he was protected by his amendments, and no matter what the
action was, if the amendment gives us the right, we should be entitled to our freedoms. In August of
1984, supporters came to Dallas Texas to come to the Republican National Convention, where
President Ronald Reagan was being elected to run for president for a second round. Outside of these
supporters for the presidential leaders were protesters. These protesters were angry with the new
Reagan Policies. Protesters marched the streets chanting Red, white, and blue, we spit on you!
Kicking over flower pots, spray painting walls, and they acted out nuclear attacks. When the protesters
came to the front of city hall, 100 people circled around to watch a man by the name of Gregory Lee
Johnson pour kerosene over an American Flag and begin to burn it. Many people stood in awe as
Johnson stood next to our desecrating flag. 45 minutes after Johnson was arrested by Texas police.

problem of Piracy exists ever since the birth of copyright law. Never the less most of the countries do

comes the copyright laws and digital piracy law into action.
Summary:
China is largest and developed country in the world and where piracy prevails since very long and still
to continue. Before it was in the form of material copying and today it exists as digital copying.
Therefore, there is a strong call for a more powerful copyright protection. Piracy is a serious ethical
problem in China. China is getting more concern on the piracy now than the past. Piracy is an illegal
duplication and distribution and selling of copies of the materials copyrighted, without the permission
by law ( Digital piracy, 2011). Today, the term is universal and is used not only in relation to books but
also for music, movies, software, pharmaceuticals and inventions as well as other intellectual
properties.( Adrian Johns, 2011),
China has more complexity than other countries with its distinctive cultural, political and social
conditions. The piracy problem is hence complex and difficult to predict in China. As the second

Garden Threads
Garden hoses are very basic items that nearly all homeowners and gardeners need yet very little
attention is usually paid to them. Going to the local discount store and buying the cheapest one may or
may not be the best option. With hoses you usually get what you pay for, and a cheapie may not last
long at all. I consider them essentially disposable hoses, although I do recycle them for other purposes
as well. Length is one very basic consideration. How long do you need to reach? Is it 100 feet or
merely 15 feet? Of course they come in many different lengths, and you can connect them together for
more reach. A hose that is too short won t work well and a hose that is barely long enough will be a
hassle as it will need to be perfectly straightened

The Help Prompt
The Help: Prompt 5 What, you d kick me out [of the junior league committee]? For disagreeing with
you? (Stockett, 10) says Skeeter Phelan, in response to Hilly Holbrook. This quote shows the attitude
of a young woman who was confident enough to stand up to the city bully. Hilly Holbrook was a
powerful character in this novel because of her thirst for leadership, guaranteed potential, and
attention. She was demanding with her words and made it very clear to the neighboring residents of
Jackson, Mississippi that she owned the town like a queen. The women of Jackson were too afraid to
stand up for themselves like Skeeter achieved against her. Hilly often claims her position of power
with her philosophy of doing anything to protect the town ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In all of the excitement of the toilet trick that Skeeter played on her, bridge clubs, and Junior League
committee, Hilly wouldn t have expected this book to come out. Hilly read the book and told
everybody the book s not even about Jackson. (Stockett, 492) because of what her previous maid,
Minny, had added about the Terrible Awful. The Terrible Awful was a nasty trick that Minny played on
Hilly to make Hilly suffer from all the things that she made Minny suffer from. Hilly didn t want
anyone to know about what Minny did to her, so she used her influence on others to make them think
the book had nothing to do about Jackson so she wouldn t be embarrassed. Her powerful figure was
deteriorating behind that strong face of hers. If Hilly s secrets were exposed, her whole reputation
would be lost and people would shun her the way she told everyone to shun the people that she didn t
like. Not only for the first time in her life did Hilly start to realize she wasn t as powerful as she
thought, but she couldn t do anything about getting people into trouble if she didn t wanted to be
exposed. She shunned Celia Foote because she s a tacky girl (Stockett, 7), but Minny told her the
Terrible Awful story so Hilly was forced to turn herself around so Celia would not reveal her as Two
Slice Hilly (Stockett, 402). Aibileen, a maid of one of Hilly s friends, finally let Hilly know that if she

  • 3. Understanding National Culture And A Common Values And... 1. Introduction According to Hofstede definition, it is possible to develop the idea of national culture as the common values and attitudes shared by a particular group of humans that are passed down between generations by different processes (Hofstede, 1980, p. 21). Given this, the primary target of this essay is to analyse the fundamental approaches to understand national culture and the way that this culture can manifest and make the difference in the entry of companies in new markets. In order to achieve this goal, I shall proceed to explain these approaches one by one using different business examples, discuss the prime criticisms and conclude with the importance of these for international business. 2. This means that same expressions, words or sentences could change their meanings drastically in different contexts, thus being necessary to understand it correctly. (Hall, 1976, pp. 85 104) Following this argument, Hall says that each culture has a particular way to understand the background. For instance, American people usually tends to have quick relationships and do not feel an essential implication with friends. On the contrary in the Middle East, people take more time to establish relations and hope that friends will not let you down. (Hall, 1960). Furthermore, Hall builds a differentiation between High Context and Low Context cultures using characteristics which could be divided in: Source: (Andrews Mead, 2009). This context model could be used in numerous situations that firms who attempt to be global may face. For example, if a company is going to operate a foreign direct investment, it has to deal not only with this differences with other companies, as in a joint venture experience, but also with the own national workers and even with the costumer behaviour Moreover, Hall also introduces the concept of polychronic and monochronic in order to describe how cultures perceive, structure and manage time. Cultures identified as monochronic experience time as settle components that can be scheduled and the result is that they select to do one action at a time. Otherwise, polychronic cultures appreciate time as continuous, without structure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Contributions Of The Pension System A defined contribution (DC) scheme on the other hand is a pension plan whose value depends on an individual s own contributions, those from his/her employer and the government; generally in the form of a tax relief. These contributions are reinvested in the stock market and upon retirement, the accumulated value of the fund is received and can be used to secure a pension income. A choice is usually made to either purchase an annuity (a product which offers a guaranteed income for life), used as a drawback (reinvesting the fund value in the stock market from which income can be drawn when needed) or a mixture of both. It is also worth noting that a maximum of 25% of the pension fund is available for withdrawal as a Tax free lump sum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The inequalities experienced (for example married couples earning higher state pension than unmarried people and women generally allocated to a lower State pension than men) under the current system have led to these general low levels of savings for retirement. According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS), it is projected that about 36% of the population born in 2013 will live past the age of 100 as compared to the 1940 s where mortality was estimated at 68years . These constant and gradual improvement in longevity estimates, will give rise to a higher ageing population being formed relative to a lower increase in working population. Consequently all current tax incomes to the government will not be sufficient to be pay the retirement income for the aging population, hence increasing the burden on the government to finance the ageing as it cannot sustain the pension system. The complex nature in estimating one s retirement earnings characterised by additional benefits reward for long term services, alongside the increasing dependence on means tested benefits, has led to a general misunderstanding of the current pension scheme. Over the years, this has prevented many people from knowing and deciding on how and why they should save towards their retirement and has often led to people not saving at all. The state pension is unfunded. Under the current pension system, it was realised that all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many benefits such as boosting economic growth, improving health and elongating life expectancy. On the contrary if a fat tax is implemented into a weak economy it could cause the loss of jobs due to higher prices. These higher prices cause local consumers to begin to purchase their unhealthy products in different states or countries, causing the loss of business for local industries. France, Hungary and Denmark all have experimented with the enactment of a fat tax. All four countries experienced varied results with both positive and negative outcomes. The French, when implementing the Junk Food Tax , wanted to decrease unhealthy food eating habits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Energy drink producers have changed their recipe, playing a cat and mouse game with the government and their new tax regulations. There is much opposition and debate over this, and difficult economic times have created unrest with the residents. Still, the tax with all of this negative feedback has survived, unlike the experiment performed in Denmark. Denmark implanted a fat tax on food products containing more than 2.3% saturated fat. After only being in place for one year, Denmark repealed the fat tax and got rid of an impending tax on sugar in 2012. The tax was causing the loss of jobs due to the increased cost of doing business . Consumers began buying food products in Sweden and Germany. Many younger adults who would frequently purchase bags of chips after school simply began buying different brands of potato chips that merely just changed the types of ingredients to meet the governments fat tax demands. While the tax did bring in $216 million for the government, the higher price of meat, dairy and butter proved to be too much for the Hungarian economy to handle. With the loss of consumers in Denmark, business owners were not able to sustain consistent sales to stay profitable. Americans would have even less options for buying foreign food products considering our geography, compared to that of Denmark. With mixed results it is necessary to carry out evaluations before implementing a fat tax. The state of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mainstream media outlets like NBC and CBS have consistently manipulated the polling statistics with a clear validity of slanting the purported outcome. This became apparent when Morton Thiokol revised their initial warning about the O ring failure at the request of NASA management. Morton Thiokol wanted to be a part of the NASA team and did not want to remain apart from them and although the decision was political in nature the fear of separation was so overwhelming that it contributed to groupthink and they indicated that all danger signal s were acceptable risk. Ethical gaps are compounded at the organizational level. For example the explosion of the Challenger that was launched at a temperature it could not tolerate. Post crash studies acknowledged that the explosion was caused by an O ring failed to seal on one of the shuttle s solid rocket boosters. The night before the launch, engineers and managers from NASA and Morton Thiokol met to discuss the safety of the launch of the Challenger in a low temperature. Family Capitalism And The 19th Century Family capitalism is regarded to firms that are operated by family and its family member, although it is also known as perpetuation of family capitalism, which means long live and long lasting, they usually could not be passed on by more than one generation (Jones and Rose, 1993). Since the early 20th Century, among the world, Europe had a concentration of the largest ten and twenty companies in countries that are under family control. For instance in France at the beginning of the 21st Century, only 15 families had controlled 33.8% of the total market value of listed corporate assets; and in Germany, family firms hold 17 of the largest hundred companies. However on the other hand, there was only 6.6% of market value that were hold by family firms in the United Kingdom (James, 2008). The aim of this essay is to explain whether Cadbury was a typical family capitalism in the 19th Century. I will argue that Cadbury was not a typical family capitalism as they held the Quaker beliefs that made them different from other family firms; they also had a different organisation structure and management style; and they lasted longer than the other family firms at that time. This essay is structure as follows; first, I will explain the Quaker belief and how it made Cadbury different from other family firms; then I will examine Cadbury s organisation structure and management style; and finally, I will look at the durability of Cadbury and compare it with another family firm. We are a diverse society and demanding individuals coming here to learn the language as if it was the only one seems selfish. • 9. United Nations Peacekeeping Development And Crisis United Nations Peacekeeping Development and Crisis Abstract The objective of the paper is to review the development of United Nations peacekeeping forces. After World War II, the United Nations had been given new opportunities to help control and resolve conflicts. As a result, new tasks and new method had to be adopted in order to adapt the fast world changing situation and continue growing conflicts which could endanger the international peace. Therefore, the UN peacekeeping forces play a very important role in keeping peace in conflict regions. This paper also examines some crisis UN is now facing. It examines whether state participation in UN peace keeping results from a state s idealistic commitment to the global community and international peace or whether participation is tied to the state s national interest. With the high profile of UN peace keeping in this post Cold War era, the answer to this inquiry may suggest to us whether the emerging international system will be organized on the principles of community or self. Keywords: United Nations, Peacekeeping, Development, Crisis I. Introduction Long before United Nations was created, the concept of peacekeeping has already been brought up by many nations that has suffered from the World War I. Vonnegurt wanted to show us how absurd the world will become when everyone is equal and Tuttle has convey that perfectly in his adaption. The story is told from George Bergeron perspective as he watches his son Harrison performs his act of rebellion and his own requiem. After Harrison got shot on television, George is left with sadness of his son s death but immediately forgets about it after the headphone rings. The overall effect of this scene is to challenge our moral of parent s responsibility of a child and also create a sense of imprisonment. The scene starts with a mid shot of George which show his expression of sadness towards his son s death on the television. Then the diegetic sounds of the headphone come in to interrupt his thoughts. The diegetic sounds combines with jump cuts create the effect of memories and thoughts scattering away. We can see George s pain from the sound alternating with flashback of Harrison being taken away. Tuttle wanted to emphasises to the audience again that in order to achieves perfect equality, this is how absurd the world will be. Parent s will have to forget that children s death right in front of their eyes or how the government is shooting innocence people on television. The following shots create a contrast between George and Hazel. When we see George in a full shot, the composition on the frame has the right half and the top part covered. This works with lead lines to show George s imprisonment and how is his confine to area in the box. Tuttle uses this to symbolise George s view of the current society. You can be anything in the world and still be great if you care enough about something that you are willing to do anything for it. In F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, he illustrates this idea. Gatsby was truly great because he did everything for the one he truly loved, which was Daisy despite how he made his money. Gatsby conveys how truly great he is by his never ending desire to get back together with Daisy. Daisy was the one that he truly loved and all he wanted was to be together again. In attempt to get Daisy back, Gatsby chose to live close to her. He bought his, house so that Daisy would be across the bay (Fitzgerald 78). • 21. John Rawls And John RawlsPrinciples Of Justice Views on social justice are highly important to defining the roles of the state within society. The perspectives presented by John Rawls and Robert Nozick demonstrate two extremely different views of societal justice and the roles that the state should have in society. Each of these philosophers give their own principles of justice, which are sets of rules society must follow in order to be just. In this paper, I will analyze the views of each of these thinkers. I will also argue that the Rawls principles of justice are preferable to Nozick s due to Nozick s lack of focus on societal inequalities. To understand Rawls principles of societal justice, it is important to first define exactly what a society is. Rawls defines society as a group of people who cooperate and follow the same rules in order to better their lives. While a society creates benefits, such as increased overall wealth, burdens like taxes are also created. Most members of society would find more benefits and less burdens to be desirable, and as a result, Rawls believes that principles of justice are needed to distribute these fairly. In order to create a just society, Rawls argues that the institutions within society must be guided by the principles of justice. Rawls definition of an institution includes both political or constitutional structures and economic or social arrangements. Examples of institutions by Rawls definition include social practices such as monogamy in family life. According to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But what if enzymes can be breakdown? Most enzymes need homeostasis environment to survive. Well we all know that as the amount of temperature increases the less the enzymes .Enzymes can be denatured using temperature, PH and salt concentration. As we know that protein structure are determined by DNA coding. We used temperature to see if increasing or decreasing temperature affected the amount of enzyme produced. So when the temperature is increased there will be more amount of enzymes denature due to high temperature and it would be opposite of temperature was dropped. And a denatured protein is biologically inactive hence it needs a homeostasis environment. Hydrogen peroxide is used for metabolic processes. • 28. The Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution that occurred in the late Nineteenth Century brought many new jobs that were drastically different to the jobs that previous Americans held. While agricultural jobs still existed and were vitally important to the sustainability of the American economy, the new factory jobs that opened up created many new work opportunities for Americans and immigrants who came from Europe. However, the problem with all these new industrial jobs was that they had very poor working conditions and the work hours were long and unfair. This along with the low wages made these jobs undesirable. Despite this, immigrant workers continued to work under these conditions because they had nowhere else to obtain work and quitting would make it almost impossible for them to find a job somewhere else with better working conditions and wages. The result of the low wages meant that many immigrants living on the East Coast of the United States lived below the poverty line. There was a fundamental problem with the working and living conditions the immigrants were experiencing. Two political organizations of this era sought to fix this problem with two contrasting methods. The British Empire was reaching the height of its power with its victory over France and her Allies. This victory led to enhanced feelings of pride and loyalty to the empire. (Middlekauff, 2005). This was not to last however, as the English and American societies were beginning to drift apart. A lot of this was brought about by the differences inherent in the two societies as the American colonists had a different class and political structure. More Americans, at least white males, owned property, there was greater religious diversity, and the population was more ethnically diverse. ( Overview of the colonial era, n.d.).
