Essay On Corruption And Corruption In Corrections
As someone that worked in corrections for 16 years, I have seen corruption events at both the state
level and at the local county level in correctional settings. I there are two common forms of
corruptions that I have seen correctional officers walked out and arrested for having sexual relations
with offenders or bringing in contraband to offenders. These unethical actions by correctional staff are
ones that break the trust with not only the offenders and staff but also the community that the staff has
sworn by oath to serve and protect. We also see that an element of corruption and unethical actions
have and do take place in the criminal justice area of police officers at the city, county, and state levels
across the country (Andonova, 2017). When we as members of the American society see these
corruptions in the law enforcement agencies, it is not only a break in the trust that we give them but
also most times a violation of state and federal laws. As a community, we must expect that those that
work in law enforcement are going to make mistakes, we know that no one is perfect. But when we
see that criminal statutes have been broken by a member of the law enforcement community we must
ask ourselves just where the line between mistake and corruption is drawn, and the ethical
understanding between the two (Andonova, 2017). The connection between misconduct in corrections
and in policing leave a lot of questions to be answered. Such as, are all law enforcement officers

Intel vs Amd
A Research on the Legacy of Intel and AMD Microprocessors
From the introduction of the counting frame, or more popularly known as the abacus1, it was realized
that the creation of a tool that is able assist in mathematical calculations will greatly increase
productivity and efficiency needs of man2. The use of abaci continued for numerous centuries up to
the years when early calculators made use of hole placements in a dial to signify a count similar to that
of a rotary dial telephone3. As the years progressed people needed more. It was seen that the simple
addition, subtraction, and multiplication functions were not enough. The need for memory storage
features arose. People at that time perceived the abacus, comptometers, ... Show more content on

Water Scarcity
Water is one of the most essential resource in world. It is needed everyday by every human, and about
every living organism. It is a crucial factor to be able to have safe drinking water at hand, no matter
where you are in the world. Water is a resource necessary for survival however many countries are
facing the global issue of not having access to safe drinking water or any water at all. Today, water
scarcity is one of the most serious issues in the world. With over 2 million people dying each year, the
majority being kids, from water borne diseases. Along with one sixth of the entire population not
having access to safe drinking water. The hardest hit regions have been countries in the Middle East,
North Africa and sub Saharan Africa. (Fox)
Over 40% of the clean water scare is in sub Saharan Africa. Within Africa, this is by far one of the
most troubling issues. Without the clean water people cannot stay healthy, go to school because the
school lacks clean water and sanitation, nor can they grow food. Women and children in Africa walk
for miles to obtain water from streams and ponds that often contain disease causing organisms, such as
those that cause cholera, typhoid fever, and infant diarrhea. (Greentumble) As it is, 40 billion hours in
manpower are used up every year just to collect water. That comprises 6 precious hours for ever
person every day that could be used to do something else. These reasons are those responsible to the
fact that approximately 50%

The Rise Of The Assyrian Empire
The Assyrian empire was a powerful one, maybe too powerful. Enforcement of government rule was
harsh and was followed through upon. As the empire gained power, the Assyrians wanted more, which
then led to more land empowered, which led to more people under Assyrian rule, which in turn
resulted in more rules. More power led to harsher rule. More power then led to new advancements and
technology in weapons. Harsh punishments and treatment of civilians led to the fall of the Assyrian
Empire. The Assyrian Empire s fall was brought upon by an internal rebellion of the Medes and
Babylonians, a direct cause of the harsh treatment of the people the Assyrians ruled upon. First off, the

Relocating of a mass number of people made revolting against the Assyrians much harder, and the
people who are relocated are sent to areas where they can be used as labor to make a profit for the
empire.
Relocation was very vital to the early success of the empire, so much so that the people who were
being relocated weren t really treated as slaves. Historian Karen Radner on the deportation policy in
Assyria stated, The deportees, their labor and their abilities were extremely valuable to the Assyrian
state, and their relocation was carefully planned and organized. We must not imagine treks of destitute
fugitives who were easy prey for famine and disease: the deportees were meant to travel as
comfortably and safely as possible in order to reach their destination in good physical shape.
Whenever deportations are depicted in Assyrian imperial art, men, women and children are shown
traveling in groups, often riding on vehicles or animals and never in bonds. She then goes on to say
that the pictures and all evidence in artwork from the time depict visions of non harmful journeys. The
people getting relocated were treated as good as soon to be slaves could be. This was mainly done in
order to keep workers healthy who may be going through a lot of physical labor in the near future.
Nonetheless, the conquering was very harsh. Conquered towns and villages valuables would be taken,

Key financial ratios for retailers focus on aspects of income, liquidity and profitability. It is crucial for
retail stores to consider key financial ratios, however, is just the starting point. Once calculated, the
comparison of these ratios to industry standards would serve as targets to improve and review their
own performance over time. Through comparison and trend analysis, managers can further identify
key areas of weaknesses that may need immediate attention. Considering income retail managers turn
to the gross margin as an indication of the sales dollars remaining after subtracting the costs of
purchasing merchandise. Managers use this as a key indicator of their ability to convert existing

The Problem That Has No Name By Betty Friedan
The primary document, The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan is a literary text, an excerpt from a
novel. Friedan criticizes health professionals, scholars, advertisers, and public officials for assuming
that biological differences dictated different roles for men and women. (Roark 730) It was published
in New York: Norton in 1963, during the postwar anxieties. The Problem That Has No Name is one of
her chapters in the novel and the apparent intended audience would be to all women, old women,
young girls and more specific middle class women. This chapter in particular had a significant impact
on the population of women. During this era, women were told Women should find fulfillment in

My Role in the Air Force Essay
In this essay, I will discuss my role in the Air Force. As background, I will discuss how my values led
me to select the Air Force as a career choice. In addition, I will highlight my personally significant Air
Force experiences/assignments to date. Finally, I will cover what I see as my contribution to the Air
Force at the micro and macro levels. Starting in high school, I liked many of the aspects the military
had to offer. One thing that really drew me to the military was equality. From my perspective, the
military seemed the most merit based of work environments. In the military, especially in the enlisted

Now I would like to transition into my most important Air Force experiences, to date. My two most
important experiences would have to be my assignment as the deputy budget officer for the 96th Air
Base Wing at Eglin AFB and my recent deployment to Iraq. Beginning chronologically, my
assignment to Eglin was significant because, other than my deployment, it was the most demanding
job I have had so far. As often is the case, we grow the most when under duress. My civilian
supervisor really aided me in the maturation process. She asked a lot of her Lieutenants, but she was
always sure to equip you with the tools you needed to be successful. For example, anytime we had a
budget brief to the Wing Commander, she selected me to brief. That really paid dividends for my
confidence. She also made me the staff analyst for the MSG and Wing Staff. This provided me great
opportunity to work daily with the Resource Advisors (RAs) down at the group and squadron levels. It
benefited me greatly to sit down with the SFS, MSS, and LRS RAs and commanders and get their two
cents on how budget cuts and resource constraints were impacting their squadrons. She also ensured
her folks were recognized for achievement. She took award nominations very seriously, and used them
as teaching tools. She would have me do the initial draft, then sit with me and provide feedback. This
was a great example of leadership. The work she

Differences Between The Governmental Accounting Standard...
Comparing and Contrasting The Difference Between GASB and FASB By: Chris Lawson Keiser
University For as long as human interactions have allowed the exchange of value between goods or
services, accountancy has been the language of which business transactions are speaking (Salem,
2013). Accounting keeps track of and explains how money is used by non profit organizations, for
profit businesses, governments and other individuals. Sounds simple enough right? Well, in all reality
it is not that simple. Nowadays, there are many different forms of accounting let alone different set of
standards that certain, and sometimes all, organizations must follow. Today there are two main
standard setters in the United States that is responsible for providing up to date standards for its
corresponding organizations. Although these two standards are very similar in nature, they are also
very different when it comes to their own individual reporting requirements. Throughout the rest of
this paper I will not only compare and contrast the differences between the Governmental Accounting
Standard Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standard Board (FASB), but also how they
differ when it comes to their reporting requirements. To get a better understanding of who these
standard setters are, let s go over a brief history and background of these two accounting standard
boards. The first standard board to be discussed is FASB. FASB was created in 1973, after the

Production Management Essay
The process which combines and transforms various resources used in the production/operations
subsystem of the organization into value added product/services in a controlled manner as per the
policies of the organization, is the definition of Production/operations management. Consequently, it is
that part of an organization, this part is involved in the transformation of a range of inputs, like men,
material, machines, information and capital, into the required (products/services), with the requisite
quality level. The group of correlated management activities, that are engaged in producing particular
products, is called as production management. Using the same concept but extended to services
management, then the corresponding set of management activities is named as operations
management. It s could also be defined as all those business functions that perform the doings of
planning, organizing, leading and controlling the resources needed to produce an organization s goods
and services, in order to generate value. It includes managing people, equipment, technology,
information and many others resources. All parts of the organization are operations.
Operations management must organize all the resources required to produce the final product. This
cover designing the product; deciding the type of resources that are needed; arranging schedules,
equipment, and facilities; managing inventory; controlling quality; designing the jobs to make the
product; and designing work

As one of the three elements of language, vocabulary is sensitive to the fastest change. Modern
English vocabulary distributed in many areas always keeps developing. Though scholars at home and

Henry James is afraid he is wholly unable to aid me in collecting words either of his own invention or
of anyone else s. (Gao, 1998, p.11). The existing lexicology thinks little of modern English new
vocabulary. The reasons are just like follows: firstly, uncertainty on the definition and scale of new
words; Secondly, incompleteness on the collecting of new words; lastly, without authority standard
and few is edited into dictionaries and books (Deng, 2005, p.49). However, as professor Wang
Rongpei said, As for new words, we cannot ignore them just because they haven t been edited into
dictionaries or accepted by the Standard English (2006). We should attach importance to its
development, formation and trend.
3. The Sources of English New Words
New words are being invented or introduced all the time. Sometimes a new word is produced by a
single person only, in some special situations. These words are called nonce words used only once or
coined for one particular occasion, and never occur again. Sometimes a new word coined by a single
speaker is used by a small group, such as the staff of the institution, and exists for a time without
gaining any wider circulation. Sometimes a new word is coined by a number of people; such a word
becomes an accepted part of language, and is fixed in a dictionary. When a new product is made, a
new conception comes in man s thought, and a new name must be found, that is, a new

From an operations management perspective, we compared and contrasted Capital One 360 to

business elements. We conclude that both corporations have significant differences based on

This can be shown in their manufacturing process. Dezurik has some valves that they are mass
producing all of the time. They also are able to take on project builds for custom sizes and designs.
These are two different segments of Dezurik which require two different business strategies. The first
strategy that Dezurik has is to be continuously producing their standard size valves. This is a fairly
straight forward operations strategy. Keep up with the demand for the valves, and at the same time
maintain an efficient product assembly line. The second strategy has to do with their special product
order segment. They do this in several different ways. The first is to complete the projects in house,
which shares the same as the previous strategy. The second strategy is to have one of their teams build
and complete their projects on site. This typically happens when they work on a project with
components that are too big to build in house. The business strategy for Dezurik is much different.
They want to become the largest producer of valves in the world. They do this by outsourcing some of
their components to China, which brings down production costs. They also need to be certified to be
sold in other countries around the world. They are trying to expand internationally and build up
partnerships and relationships with governments and companies from around the world. In order to

Andy Warhol was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania (Brown, 2015). When he was at
the age of 8 he contracted Chorea, a disease that causes involuntary, unpredictable body movements,
so Warhol was confined to bed. During his recovery he was taught to draw by his mother (Brown,
2015). He developed a love for drawing, and he started to draw in his spare time. As soon as he got
healthy he decided to take up photography. He went on to graduate high school and enroll in Carnegie
Institute of Technology where he studied commercial art (Brown, 2015).
Warhol later became a leading figure in the 1950s visual art movement known as pop art. In 1961
Warhol revealed the concept of pop art (Brown, 2015). He showcased an art piece that focused on
mass produced commercial goods. It was an art form that no one had ever seen before. People became
fascinated with him and his artwork. In 1962 Warhol became most famous when he showcased his
ionic paintings of Campbell s soup cans (Brown, 2015). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The painting is a red and white can that says Campbell s chicken noodle soup. It was an art piece that

compelling way; it was something everyone could relate to. Campbell soup is universal its something
that everyone can have. From a king to an average person, everyone enjoys soup and its something
that s affordable. Some people don t understand why Warhol painted pictures depicting Campbell
soup. But the reason behind his painting is that he genuinely liked Campbell soup a lot, and he wanted
to paint it. When Andy Warhol was asked why he painted Campbell Soup cans he said, I used to drink
it. I used to have the same lunch everyday, for twenty years the same thing over and over again
(Miller, 2015). It was something he loved and wanted to paint which is why his Campbell soup cans

Macbeth vs Scotland, PA Essay
Macbeth:
The thin line between tragedy and dark humor.
William Shakespeare s Macbeth has always been considered one of the literary worlds most celebrated
tragedies. It is arguably the darkest and most gruesome of his plays. The protagonist, Macbeth, is the
poster child for tragic hero, a literary character who makes an error of judgment or has a fatal flaw
that, combined with fate and external forces, brings on a tragedy (www.dictionary.com). And until
recently we were satisfied with that... At the Cannes Film Festival in 2001, a low budget comedy was
unveiled. It was called Scotland, PA. This film was written by a first time director, Billy Morrissette,
and depicts the familiar story in a surprisingly different form.

This element is key in developing the audience s view of Macbeth and his reprehensible crimes. This
scenes absence teamed with the accidental manner in which Mac commits the plotted murder of
Duncan aid in securing a less contemptible opinion of Mac.
Another reason we find Mac and Pat to be less evil is because of their real world disposition that most
college kids can relate to they are ...not bad people we re just underachievers that have to make up for
lost time. This puts a comedic spin on their situation and consequently, the crimes they commit. Not to
mention they are struggling for the seat of power over (DUN DUN DUN..) a local fast food restaurant
that, for the most part, they deserve. Their manager is incompetent and incapable of accepting
responsibility. This is illustrated immediately during the first scene in the restaurant where he is
instructing Pat on how to make an ice cream cone. Kids in the store engage in a food fight and he
sneaks into the bathroom to avoid the situation. Macbeth, who practically runs the store anyway,
quickly throws the kids out to the applaud of the rest of the patrons. The slow motion dramatics in this
scene made it hilarious and should be noted.
As mentioned earlier, the manor in which Duncan s murder is carried out helps us to form a more
sympathetic view of Mac. Mac and Pat have Duncan bound and gagged in the kitchen. Mac and Pat

Private Schools Vs Public Schools
Around half millions of students study in private schools, which almost represents the fifth of students
in Saudi Arabia. Although a lot of families prefer to make their children study in private school, that
does not mean they are completely satisfied about the schools quality and their children achievement
(Al Hagbani, 2013). Nevertheless, they still enroll their children in private schools, believing they will
benefit more from studying in private schools than public schools. In addition, some parents believe
that private schools are more flexible, have more educational activities and are more conscientious of
students problems and needs (Al Garieb, 2013). In a study aimed at exploring the reason behind the
penchant towards private schools, Bukhari and Randall (2009), after reviewing literatures about
parents choices, stated that parents tend to choose private schools over public schools when they
realize that their children s needs are not met in public schools. Many studies have been conducted in
the educational field to explore the differences between private and public schools. These studies were
conducted in an attempt to find out which type of school is better. Some of these studies focused on
teaching quality such as a study conducted by McKinnon et al (2013), while others were a qualitative
comparison, such as a study conducted by Iqbal (2012). Since schools can help students create good
study habits, some of the studies compared the study habits between

investment. Adding some useful accessories is a super way to accomplish that objective. Here are four
handy items you can add to your golf cart to increase its usefulness.
Covers and Enclosures
No matter how often you use your golf cart, you want to keep it good condition. An excellent way to
ensure your cart stays looking like new is to add either a functional enclosure, or a custom cover. The
enclosure does more than just preserve your cart s condition. Enclosures allow you to use your cart in
all weather conditions, plus they protect the inside of your golf cart.
Covers will completely protect your golf cart when you re not using it. Just because you add an
enclosure, that doesn t mean a cover is also not a good accessory to have. A golf cart cover is a

Water And Its Properties That Makes It A Essential For All...
1. Introduction
Water and its properties are very essential for all living things. In fact, scientists are paying close
attention to presence of liquid water on other planets in efforts to find extraterrestrial life in space.
Water has properties that makes it a key role to sustain life 1. As it is a universal solvent, it acts as a
medium for most biochemical reactions 2. Without water, it is impossible for a living thing to
function. Zooming out, water is important in daily life as many aspects depend on water. Water is used
for domestic and industrial purposes. On average, people in the United States drink 110 million gallon
of water everyday 3. In total, 400 billion gallon of water is used in United states everyday 4. Natural
freshwater is not completely pure. It contains solute dissolved from erosion of minerals and dissolved
gases from the atmosphere 5. Calcium, Ca2+, and magnesium, Mg2+, are the most common and
abundant solutes found in natural waters. This is due to the presence of natural minerals such as
limestone and dolomite 6. The hardness of water is defined as the concentration of dissolved mineral
cations, mainly calcium and magnesium, in water. Therefore, by this definition, a hard water contains
high concentration of solutes and a soft water contains low concentration of solutes 5. The following
table shows the water hardness category according to the United States Department of Interior and the

Learning To Drive
Many young people learn to drive as soon as they re old enough. Having a car is a huge freedom you
can go wherever you like whenever you like. Not only that, but many jobs require that you have a car
or at least hold a driving license so that you can run errands or go to see clients.
Like any sort of learning, everyone is different. Some people are taught how to drive by their parents
or by a friend, in the family car. The advantage of this is that it s free, but a big disadvantage is that
you re not being taught by a trained professional. Driving instructor s cars also have dual controls so
that if the new driver does anything dangerous, the instructor can control the car. This is very
important if you ve never been behind the wheel of a car before, so new drivers might feel that they
want to have lessons first, and then only practice with their parents once they re more confident. ...

It s important to drive in traffic as you may encounter lots of traffic on your test, and being able to

A third option for learning to drive is to take an intensive course. These normally promise to teach you
to drive in as little as a month, so you drive every day as well as taking theory lessons. At the end of
this course you will take a driving test, and the idea is that you ve learned quickly enough to pass.
These courses can also save you money because you just pay for a set number of lessons. Sometimes
it can be difficult to tell if you re ready to take the test, but with an intensive course you know exactly

Technology is no longer considered to be a special event by students, but is expected to be integrated
into the classroom (Koeber 2005). Even with many districts trying to push 21st century technology
into the classroom mainly failures still exist. These failures range from lack of achievement increases
(Oxford 2006) to struggles with overall plans created by school districts (Owen 2004). The use of
technology must be integrated into the classroom. However, many stakeholders that are on the outside
looking in do not understand how complex this process can be on teachers and the school districts
(Windschitle 2002). It is the purpose of this paper to explore need for technology into classrooms and
to explain why this can be such a problem. To represent the need for technology in the classroom 21st

for why technology has been so hard to correctly integrate. Finally, correct implementation techniques

William Byrd Influences
If you were asked to name an influential person in history, who would you immediately think of?
Most likely, the person is or was a politician, businessman, writer, etc. You most likely did not think of
a musician. We, as a society, under appreciate the work of great musicians of our time as well as past
times. For example, William Byrd was an extremely influential musician who lived from 1538 1623.
He is responsible for choir pieces consisting of four (or more) voice parts. Throughout his lifetime, he
made many uncertain opportunities. William Byrd beneficially impacted his society through the risks

William wrote over 120 pieces, including sonnets, madrigals, and other secular works (William).
William is best known for his development of the English madrigal. (Britannica) A madrigal is a
choral piece for two to four people. In his song, Ave Verum Corpus , we can clearly hear this use of
many choral voices. In fact, this effect can be found in a almost all of William s works. He took large
risks by using two, three, four, or even more voices to blend perfect harmonies and use alternating
melodies. The result is beautiful music that would be used, even today, by countless others. On aspect
of his music is the joining of high and low voices. There are areas in his music where the low voices
sing but the high voices do not and vice versa. Then, William does a splendid job of blending them
together, using the differing pitches of the singers to compliment each others voices. The result is a
full sound that is not too muddy and low, yet not too high and pitchy. His songs were almost always in
Latin wording, including the constant use of the phrase Agnus Dei or Lamb of God . If listening very
closely, one might be able to hear this phrase repeated in many of the works provided by William.
Byrd also released a collection of madrigals that became very popular (William).William also jumped
for any opportunity he could get his hands on; for example, William majorly contributed in the making

Due to the many movements in the 70s, such as the Women s Liberation Movement, society was

that reflected their personality and desire for comfort. Another fad of the decade was kung fu and
other Asian martial arts; the trend started due to Bruce Lee s movies Fists of Fury and Enter the

actors of the like became well known, becoming part of the American culture that is still relevant to
today. Finally, another trend was the rage over organic food. Similar to today, consumers back then
were also concerned about what they were eating and wanted to be able to have a diet that was both

The Keystone Xl Pipeline Is The United States National...
The second reason for the immediate approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline is the United States
national security risk that results from the dependence on foreign oil, lack of jobs and supply of oil.
The United States has been dependent on the unstable Middle East for the past few decades as one of
their limited sources of oil. It is a necessity to empower ourselves and relieve the constraints of OPEC
off the United States. OPEC, the organization that controls the oil prices and how much oil is
produced, has members that are the largest oil producers in the world and most of them reside in the
Middle East. OPEC can lower the production of oil, which will result in an increase in oil prices.
Everything economically revolves around the price ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of how the United States dependency on foreign oil affects us is the situation in Iran.
Iran is building a nuclear power plant, but that goes against the world law for Iran. Iran has threatened
the world with the use of nuclear weapons and the creation of a nuclear power plant could help
achieve those threats. The United States is struggling to deal with the actions of Iran because of the
large amounts of oil they produce and export. They United States has to act on their own because the
countries within the European Union do not want to upset Iran and compromise one of their supplies
of oil. Many countries are taking advantage of their access of fossil fuels and going against United
States foreign policy. However, if the United States controlled their own supply of oil they would be
able to handle problems in the way that best suits them and the rest of the world. Another way that
would ensure the United States national security is allowing ourselves to regulate how the crude oil is
refined and guarantee clean oil is provided to consumers (About the Project). We would be able to
control the way the oil is refined because the Keystone XL pipeline goes from the tar sands of Alberta

How Merger Models Incorporate Managerial Accounting...
Cost Synergies: How Merger Models Incorporate Managerial Accounting Methodologies Introduction
According to the Merriam Webster online dictionary, a synergy is defined as a mutually advantageous
conjunction or compatibility of distinct business participants or elements (as resources or efforts) .
When applied exclusively in a business context, synergies are realized improvements in efficiency, as
well as reductions in cost, resulting from the cooperation of two or more entities. These improvements
are derived from the elimination, and consolidation, of redundant activities and tasks between the
operations of disparate business units. In the following paragraphs, I will describe how and when

Supply chain management, human capital management, and a myriad of other functional areas have
become focus areas for synergistic analysis. These types of synergies are commonly referred to as
operating synergies. Conversely, financial synergies, such as debt capacity and tax benefits serve to
increase cash flow or reduce the firms cost of capital. Favorable operating and financial synergies
provide the justification to enact the reorganization of the business through merger activity. Despite
the importance of operating synergies to the organization s overall synergy strategy, this paper will
focus almost exclusively on the financial outcomes of such analyses. How are synergies achieved? In
a nutshell, all synergies can be expressed using the following rudimentary equation: 1 + 1 = 3 The idea
that the sum of the parts is greater than that of the individual components is the driving assumption
behind the synergistic approach to business reorganization. In today s corporate climate, synergies are
at the forefront of acquisitive growth strategies which attempt to supplement internally generated
(organic) growth with targeted acquisitions of existing entities or through business combinations. The
goal of these transactions is to achieve a return on investment that exceeds the returns generated by
each party prior to the deal. These returns can be measured in terms of cost reductions, increased
revenues, and in some instances a

We have expressions which refer to the idea that we may experience time as subjectively happening at

Yet, in fiction, time passing at different rates is a relatively common concept. Perhaps this intrigues us
because of real world experiences which fit that concept in some sense.
When you look at signs and symbols, a common phenomenon is that imagery initially comes from real

have been dated before Enmebaragesi (c. 26th century BC). Juris Zarins trusts the Sumerians lived
along the shoreline of Eastern Arabia, today s Persian Gulf district, before it overflowed toward the
end of the Ice Age.
Sumerian progress took frame in the Uruk period (fourth thousand years BC), proceeding into the
Jemdet Nasr and Early Dynastic periods. Amid the third thousand years BC, a nearby social beneficial
interaction created between the Sumerians, who talked a dialect segregate, and Akkadian speakers,
which included far reaching bilingualism. Sumerian culture appears to have showed up as a full
fledged progress, with no pre history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is without a doubt right, yet where we turned out badly was in regards to the tenants of both tracts
as non Semitic. Jules Oppert constantly kept up that the Sumerians were non Semitic, however around
then it was enhanced that the Akkadians were Semites, as is currently by and large acknowledged. In
Gen. x, 10, Akkad is alluded to with Babel, Erech, and Calneli just as it were a city, henceforth the
more established purpose of view.1 The nation in general bears the name of Shin ar, contrasted by a
few and Shumer. The Hebrew shape still requires clarification. The perspective in Mr. Woolley s book,
in any case, demonstrates that the entire Babylonian tract should be called Akkad, as the first
occupants appear to have been Semites, while the Sumerians were the intruders or

1950s Music
1. The space race was after the cold war, between the United States and the Soviet Union, to see
would get to the moon first. Satellite is sung by Teresa Brewer, it has a powerful message and a catchy
beat. This is the perfect song because the lyrics describe what the United States was going through at
this time. 2. Living in the suburbs in the 50s was viewed as the American Dream. Little Boxes mocks
the suburban life style, with the houses made out of ticky tacky and they all look the same. The song
breaks down what it is truly like to live in the suburbs. 3. In the 1950s women were expected to be a
stay at home wife and mother, they were just there to cook and clean for their husbands. Just a Girl

Technology in the 50s wasn t very advanced as it is now so when the Vacuum tube Amplifier came
out, musicians everywhere came out of the wood works so get their hands on it. It gave rock n roll its
critical element, volume, with the added a warm sound. Rocket 88 by Ike Turner/Jackie Brenston was
recorded on one and had a little tid bit of it in the song. 7. Life of a teenager in the 1950s was very
conventional, they had a lot of rules as to what they can and cannot do. Summertime Blues is a song
about teenagers sterotical problems and the life of a teen. This is the best pick because it literally says
how life was for a teen in the 50s. 8. Love songs are a timeless piece of music, every single generation
has thousands of iconic love songs. I picked Why do Fools Fall in Love out of thousands of love songs
because it is such a beautiful song. It s a lovesick ballad that really connects with the 50s with its
lyrics. 9. Televison was first produced in 1951, but it wasn t untill 1953 when good shows became
accessible. One of the first TV Shows to become very popular in the 50s is I Love Lucy , so I picked
the theme song. I Love Lucy was one of the most Iconic and loved TV s shows in the 50s, so it just
made sense to add the theme

Hypnic Jerk Essay
You re lying on the bed, and you re almost falling asleep. Suddenly, you have a feeling of falling from
the rooftop of a skyscraper straight to the ground, and your legs twitch. We are familiar with this
felling because we all have the experience during our sleep sometimes. Hypnic jerk, which is also
known as sleep twitch, is not a sleep disorder; instead, it is a common and natural body reaction in
sleep hours. with some research suggesting that 60 to 70 percent of people experience them (Castro).
Although psychologists and scientists still don t discover the exact causes of hypnic jerk, they have
already proposed some hypothesis about how hypnic jerk occur during sleep. The first hypothesis is
that over exercising or working out around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hypnagogic jerk represents the side effects of a hidden battle for control in the brain that happens
each night on the cusp between wakefulness and dreams, according to Stafford. There is a network of
cells lies below the cortex called the reticular activating system that governs basic physiological
functions that keeps us awake. This system also considered as the motor system. There is a
contradictory system named VLPO, and this system locates near the optic nerve and governs
sleepiness. In REM (Rapid Eye Movement), which is a sleep phase, the body muscles are in paralysis.
Stafford s theory is that the reticular activating system struggles with VLPO when a person enters
REM. He suggests that if the reticular activating system takes over VLPO as REM sets in, the
remaining daytime energy bursts out and leads to some random muscles movements. In other words,
hypnic jerks are the last gasps of normal daytime motor control (Stafford). No matter what the exact
causes of hypnic jerk are, we don t need to consider the twitch as a sleep disorder and to be afraid of
it. As many researchers says, it is a normal physiological phenomenon, after

Benefits Of Secondary School Teacher
Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world, Nelson Mandela. Secondary
school teachers can essentially make or break the next generation of America. What students are
taught in school can heavily affect how their future turns out to be. Secondary school teachers are
some of the people that are heavily credited for many famous celebrities or athletes successes for the
education they gave them. NBC News anchor Brian Williams is an example of someone who has
given his secondary school teachers some form of acknowledgement for his success. Secondary
school teachers are an important part of a person s life in their spiritual, mental, and moral growth in
life, and are some of the people who help shape young mind s to do whatever they put their minds to.
A skilled worker, regardless of the job description, remains a treasure, Madeleine M. Kunin. Over one
million secondary school teachers currently hold jobs in the United States. Secondary school teachers
typically teach students in grades ranging from seventh to high school senior, primarily in English,
arithmetic, and science fields ( Secondary School Teachers 490), and each day they teach three to six
classes of varying sizes. Secondary school teachers have a lot more benefits to their job than what it
appears to be. A good majority of them are spiritual or mental benefits, but some benefits are physical
or monetary. Some secondary school teachers direct extracurricular activities, and

Cyber security, also referred to as information technology security, focuses on protecting computers,
networks, software programs and data from unintended or unauthorized access, change or destruction.
Post 9/11 and other terrorist attacks, the United States grows its endeavors to repulse cyberattacks,
U.S. corporate organizations and the government agencies wind up in strife over how to adjust to new
methods of security and privacy. The current state of security measure protocols and privacy policies
placed by the US government in cyberspace raises concerns for the 99%. This is due to the recent
cyber attacks on American corporate organization systems and government alike, where their digital
information and network infrastructures within the systems were compromised, and personal data was
hacked and stolen. Since digital information data is now considered as the new gold mine, national
security and privacy on the internet can be seen as alternate extremes relying upon the gathering of
people s digital footprint and data. Understanding the foundational structure of each discipline, can
bring critical cognizance to both the sides of the issues. Many academic and research scholars find the
definition of privacy shady, complex, and ambitious. As stated by Robert. C. Post Privacy is a value so
complex, so entangled in competing and contradictory

Alzheimer s And The Most Relevant Cause Of Dementia
Alzheimer s, the most relevant cause of Dementia, is a disease that affects as many as 4.5 million
Americans per year (WebMD 2005 2014). Alzheimer s is a disease that is an irremediable, continuous
brain neuron degenerative disease that can be asymptomatic at first and then overtime becomes
symptomatic. Alzheimer s is a gradual disease that advances in three phases: mild, then moderate, and,
finally, severe (1). Symptoms appear after the age of 60 and include: the slow destruction of memory
and thought processes, and ultimately ends with the absent ability to do normal everyday duties. These
symptoms can be anything from forgetting a recent event, or can be as problematic as forgetting the
name of a family member. There are many daily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alzheimer s disease usually affects geriatrics that is nearing the age of 60, but there are sometimes
rare cases of early onset Alzheimer s occurring around the age of 30. Early onset Alzheimer s
identifies less than 5 percent of all the people who have Alzheimer s disease (Alzheimer s Disease
Education and Referral Center). According to WebMD (2014), late onset is the most common form of
Alzheimer s disease that victimizes almost half of all of the people over the age of 65 and may or may
not be hereditary. Early Onset Alzheimer s Early onset Alzheimer s is a rare, but fast stage of
Alzheimer s disease. According to Glenn E. Smith, Ph.D., a neuropsychologist at Mayo Clinic, in
Rochester, Minn. (2014), Early onset Alzheimer s is an uncommon form of dementia that strikes about
5 percent of patients with symptoms before the age of 65. This form of Alzheimer s has been known to
develop between the ages 30 and 40, but that s very uncommon (Smith 2014). Scientists do not have
an explanation of why people get the disease younger than others. Early onset Alzheimer s that is
hereditary in family members is connected to three different genes that differ from the APOE gene that
can increase your risk of Alzheimer s in general (Smith 2014). The innate conduit of inheritance is
much stronger in early onset Alzheimer s (Smith 2014). If one has a genetic mutation

immigrants that are stimulating revenue and job growth. In summary, data shows that immigrants are
not out to steal jobs from American workers or lower wages. Immigrants come into America to fill
jobs that are available, or attempt to establish their own businesses. By maintaining strict immigration
policies the United States is also preventing its growth. We should be aware that immigrants do
provide many benefits to our country, and that our immigration policies are in need of improvements
that will allow immigrants and our country to reap the full benefits of our immigration system.

How To Write A Chapter Summary Of To Kill A Mockingbird
Telling our stories is composed of nine chapters where he shares some of his stories from his vast
collection. This book is the result of decades of research and collecting of traditional narratives. The
author, Louis bird seems to have felt responsible for preserving the traditional oral stories of his
culture. These stories may have otherwise been lost as the elders who told them passed away. It is my
wish and hope to save the stories that have been passed on to us by our grandfather s and their
grandfather s (louis bird; www.ourvoices.ca). Each of the nine chapters contains a useful introduction
by an editor.
Chapter one is essentially a history lesson. In this chapter we learn a little about the personal history of
the author as well as his motivation for collecting his cultures personal stories. Louis bird lives in

of shamans who miss used their mi tew power and how the powerful shamans were ultimately

stories about the first European contact. Bird tries and tells what happened at that time from the
perspective of the aboriginals.
Chapter 6 the wailing clouds, is introduced by Anne Lindsay, who gives a detailed account of the rich
history behind the story of the wailing clouds. This chapter focuses on the single story which is the
wailing clouds. It is about the first nation omushkegos and is about a game of tug of war that had gone
terribly wrong. An elderly lady tried to stop the gamers because they were overdoing it.
Chapter 7 is a story in which Bird describes the way his ancestors made and used weapons which is
appropriately titled arrows and thunder sticks . Roland Bear introduces this chapter by reminding

Extremely Useful and Harzard of Stem Cells Essay
Stem cells are known as cells that are not destined a certain function. Stem cells can reproduce
themselves into specialized cells within the tissues and organs of the body. This is implemented
through differentiation; made possible with a process in which certain genes make themselves active
or inactive in order to turn into the certain specialized cell. There are both pluripotent and multipotent
stem cells, meaning they can develop into nearly any body cell they desire and can only create a
limited amount of cell types, respectively. Stem cells can also either be adult stem cells or embryonic.
Embryonic stem cells come from the inner cell mass that is found in laboratory cultured, few days old
embryos. These stem cells are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As told in the article by Julie Rovner, there are already 60 countries in the world that have laws on
their books banning human reproductive cloning, however only 15 of the 50 states in the US has
actually banned the process. The debate goes on not only within the democracy, but within the
republic Congress has fought...to a draw over the controversy. This subject not only is a struggle
within itself, but it provokes the abortion (pro life, pro choice) argument as well; pertaining to when a
human life actually starts. The cost of stem cell research is also a large part of the controversy it s not
at all cheap. Laws have been passed restricting funds for the study, giving limitations to researchers
and politicians both. The ethical argument is the major drawback for these two groups of people as
well, however according to President Obama, the majority of Americans, from across the political
spectrum, and from all backgrounds and beliefs, have come to a consensus that we should pursue this
research. I agree with the statement the President made. The pros of stem cell research outweigh the
cons, and the potential work that these cells can do; they can essentially erase time and create a newly
perfected body system...it s unbelievable. I think that with an increased amount of security and

Analysis Of George Orwell s 1984
Those familiar with George Orwell s 1984 will recall that Newspeak was designed not to extend but to
diminish the range of thought. I recently felt the weight of this Orwellian ethos when many of my
students sent emails to inform me, and perhaps warn me, that my name appears on the Professor
Watchlist, a new website created by a conservative youth group known as Turning Point USA. I could
sense the gravity in those email messages, a sense of relaying what is to come. The Professor
Watchlist s mission, among other things, is to sound an alarm about those of us within academia who
advance leftist propaganda in the classroom. It names and includes photographs of some 200
professors. The Watchlist appears to be consistent with a nostalgic desire to make America great again
and to expose and oppose those voices in academia that are anti Republican or express anti
Republican values. For many black people, making America great again is especially threatening, as it
signals a return to a more explicit and unapologetic racial dystopia. For us, dreaming of yesterday is
not a privilege, not a desire, but a nightmare. The new watchlist is essentially a new species of
McCarthyism, especially in terms of its overtones of disloyalty to the American republic. And it is
reminiscent of Cointelpro, the secret F.B.I. program that spied on, infiltrated and discredited American
political organizations in the 50s and 60s. Its goal of outing professors for their views helps to

  • 7. Essay On Corruption And Corruption In Corrections As someone that worked in corrections for 16 years, I have seen corruption events at both the state level and at the local county level in correctional settings. I there are two common forms of corruptions that I have seen correctional officers walked out and arrested for having sexual relations with offenders or bringing in contraband to offenders. These unethical actions by correctional staff are ones that break the trust with not only the offenders and staff but also the community that the staff has sworn by oath to serve and protect. We also see that an element of corruption and unethical actions have and do take place in the criminal justice area of police officers at the city, county, and state levels across the country (Andonova, 2017). When we as members of the American society see these corruptions in the law enforcement agencies, it is not only a break in the trust that we give them but also most times a violation of state and federal laws. As a community, we must expect that those that work in law enforcement are going to make mistakes, we know that no one is perfect. But when we see that criminal statutes have been broken by a member of the law enforcement community we must ask ourselves just where the line between mistake and corruption is drawn, and the ethical understanding between the two (Andonova, 2017). The connection between misconduct in corrections and in policing leave a lot of questions to be answered. Such as, are all law enforcement officers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Relocating of a mass number of people made revolting against the Assyrians much harder, and the people who are relocated are sent to areas where they can be used as labor to make a profit for the empire. Relocation was very vital to the early success of the empire, so much so that the people who were being relocated weren t really treated as slaves. Historian Karen Radner on the deportation policy in Assyria stated, The deportees, their labor and their abilities were extremely valuable to the Assyrian state, and their relocation was carefully planned and organized. We must not imagine treks of destitute fugitives who were easy prey for famine and disease: the deportees were meant to travel as comfortably and safely as possible in order to reach their destination in good physical shape. Whenever deportations are depicted in Assyrian imperial art, men, women and children are shown traveling in groups, often riding on vehicles or animals and never in bonds. She then goes on to say that the pictures and all evidence in artwork from the time depict visions of non harmful journeys. The people getting relocated were treated as good as soon to be slaves could be. Beginning chronologically, my assignment to Eglin was significant because, other than my deployment, it was the most demanding job I have had so far. As often is the case, we grow the most when under duress. My civilian supervisor really aided me in the maturation process. She asked a lot of her Lieutenants, but she was always sure to equip you with the tools you needed to be successful. For example, anytime we had a budget brief to the Wing Commander, she selected me to brief. That really paid dividends for my confidence. She also made me the staff analyst for the MSG and Wing Staff. This provided me great opportunity to work daily with the Resource Advisors (RAs) down at the group and squadron levels. It benefited me greatly to sit down with the SFS, MSS, and LRS RAs and commanders and get their two cents on how budget cuts and resource constraints were impacting their squadrons. • 16. Differences Between The Governmental Accounting Standard... Comparing and Contrasting The Difference Between GASB and FASB By: Chris Lawson Keiser University For as long as human interactions have allowed the exchange of value between goods or services, accountancy has been the language of which business transactions are speaking (Salem, 2013). Accounting keeps track of and explains how money is used by non profit organizations, for profit businesses, governments and other individuals. Sounds simple enough right? Well, in all reality it is not that simple. Nowadays, there are many different forms of accounting let alone different set of standards that certain, and sometimes all, organizations must follow. Today there are two main standard setters in the United States that is responsible for providing up to date standards for its corresponding organizations. Although these two standards are very similar in nature, they are also very different when it comes to their own individual reporting requirements. Throughout the rest of this paper I will not only compare and contrast the differences between the Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standard Board (FASB), but also how they differ when it comes to their reporting requirements. To get a better understanding of who these standard setters are, let s go over a brief history and background of these two accounting standard boards. The first standard board to be discussed is FASB. FASB was created in 1973, after the Accounting Principle Board ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dezurik has some valves that they are mass producing all of the time. They also are able to take on project builds for custom sizes and designs. These are two different segments of Dezurik which require two different business strategies. The first strategy that Dezurik has is to be continuously producing their standard size valves. This is a fairly straight forward operations strategy. Keep up with the demand for the valves, and at the same time maintain an efficient product assembly line. The second strategy has to do with their special product order segment. They do this in several different ways. The first is to complete the projects in house, which shares the same as the previous strategy. The second strategy is to have one of their teams build and complete their projects on site. This typically happens when they work on a project with components that are too big to build in house. The business strategy for Dezurik is much different. They want to become the largest producer of valves in the world. They do this by outsourcing some of their components to China, which brings down production costs. Some aspects of the 1970s culture are music, television, movies, literature, and trends. The 70 s brought a large variety of music, including Funk, Hard Rock, and Disco. Some singers, songwriters, and both include Johnny Cash, Diana Ross, and the Jackson 5. Men and women frequently breaking expected social fashion rules was one example; people started to use their clothes for self expression and women, especially, wore clothing that reflected their personality and desire for comfort. Another fad of the decade was kung fu and other Asian martial arts; the trend started due to Bruce Lee s movies Fists of Fury and Enter the Dragon, which were both made in the early 1970s. From then, Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, and other actors of the like became well known, becoming part of the American culture that is still relevant to today. The second reason for the immediate approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline is the United States national security risk that results from the dependence on foreign oil, lack of jobs and supply of oil. The United States has been dependent on the unstable Middle East for the past few decades as one of their limited sources of oil. It is a necessity to empower ourselves and relieve the constraints of OPEC off the United States. OPEC, the organization that controls the oil prices and how much oil is produced, has members that are the largest oil producers in the world and most of them reside in the Middle East. Iran has threatened the world with the use of nuclear weapons and the creation of a nuclear power plant could help achieve those threats. The United States is struggling to deal with the actions of Iran because of the large amounts of oil they produce and export. They United States has to act on their own because the countries within the European Union do not want to upset Iran and compromise one of their supplies of oil. Many countries are taking advantage of their access of fossil fuels and going against United States foreign policy. However, if the United States controlled their own supply of oil they would be able to handle problems in the way that best suits them and the rest of the world. Another way that would ensure the United States national security is allowing ourselves to regulate how the crude oil is refined and guarantee clean oil is provided to consumers (About the Project). We would be able to control the way the oil is refined because the Keystone XL pipeline goes from the tar sands of Alberta directly to the refineries in Steele City, Nebraska. Cost Synergies: How Merger Models Incorporate Managerial Accounting Methodologies Introduction According to the Merriam Webster online dictionary, a synergy is defined as a mutually advantageous conjunction or compatibility of distinct business participants or elements (as resources or efforts) . When applied exclusively in a business context, synergies are realized improvements in efficiency, as well as reductions in cost, resulting from the cooperation of two or more entities. Supply chain management, human capital management, and a myriad of other functional areas have become focus areas for synergistic analysis. These types of synergies are commonly referred to as operating synergies. Conversely, financial synergies, such as debt capacity and tax benefits serve to increase cash flow or reduce the firms cost of capital. Favorable operating and financial synergies provide the justification to enact the reorganization of the business through merger activity. Despite the importance of operating synergies to the organization s overall synergy strategy, this paper will focus almost exclusively on the financial outcomes of such analyses. How are synergies achieved? In a nutshell, all synergies can be expressed using the following rudimentary equation: 1 + 1 = 3 The idea that the sum of the parts is greater than that of the individual components is the driving assumption behind the synergistic approach to business reorganization. In today s corporate climate, synergies are at the forefront of acquisitive growth strategies which attempt to supplement internally generated (organic) growth with targeted acquisitions of existing entities or through business combinations. The goal of these transactions is to achieve a return on investment that exceeds the returns generated by each party prior to the deal. These returns can be measured in terms of cost reductions, increased revenues, and in some instances a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet, in fiction, time passing at different rates is a relatively common concept. Perhaps this intrigues us because of real world experiences which fit that concept in some sense. The hypnagogic jerk represents the side effects of a hidden battle for control in the brain that happens each night on the cusp between wakefulness and dreams, according to Stafford. There is a network of cells lies below the cortex called the reticular activating system that governs basic physiological functions that keeps us awake. This system also considered as the motor system. There is a contradictory system named VLPO, and this system locates near the optic nerve and governs sleepiness. In REM (Rapid Eye Movement), which is a sleep phase, the body muscles are in paralysis. Stafford s theory is that the reticular activating system struggles with VLPO when a person enters REM. He suggests that if the reticular activating system takes over VLPO as REM sets in, the remaining daytime energy bursts out and leads to some random muscles movements. In other words, hypnic jerks are the last gasps of normal daytime motor control (Stafford). No matter what the exact causes of hypnic jerk are, we don t need to consider the twitch as a sleep disorder and to be afraid of it. The Professor Watchlist s mission, among other things, is to sound an alarm about those of us within academia who advance leftist propaganda in the classroom. The Watchlist appears to be consistent with a nostalgic desire to make America great again and to expose and oppose those voices in academia that are anti Republican or express anti Republican values. For many black people, making America great again is especially threatening, as it signals a return to a more explicit and unapologetic racial dystopia. For us, dreaming of yesterday is not a privilege, not a desire, but a nightmare.
