The Effect of Advertisements and Commericals on Television
Advertisements and commercials have been an integral part of American history for many years. Since
the invention of the newspaper, people in the United States and lots of other countries have been
heavily influenced by advertisements. These ingenious tools are used to make people desire to buy a
product or contribute to the success of a product in some way. In more modern history advertisements
have been implemented into television and other mediums of mass media. Because so many people
watch television everyday it is the perfect tool to advertise with. Also, the advertisements must be
interesting and have enough appeal to actually captivate the audience s interest. The car insurance
company Geico understands this concept very well. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Old MacDonald is a classic nursery rhyme that every child hears at some point. This means that
anyone who sees the commercial will recognize this character and connect better with the
advertisement as a whole. The primary means of appeal for this commercial and all Geico
commercials over the past few years is humor. This particular commercial makes fun of old
MacDonald s spelling ability. In the nursery rhyme, an animal name is said followed by the sounds e i
e i o. The commercial flips this so that this is the way old MacDonald spells. This is further
exaggerated by the fact he is put into a spelling bee setting.
It may be a shock that Geico is actually owned by a much larger company. Berkshire Hathaway
Incorporated is the company that owns Geico. In fact, it also owns several other companies such as
Dairy Queen, Fruit of the Loom, Lubrizol and Helzberg Diamonds to name a few. A man by the name
of Warren Buffett the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway helped to gain better advertisements for Geico by
going through different advertising agencies. The advertising agency that Geico has had the most
success with by far is the Martin Agency. This agency has helped to develop Geico s most famous
advertisement campaigns. The Geico Gecko was actually brought about because of the Martin
Agency. It was very common for people to mispronounce Geico as gecko this sparked an ingenious
idea. The company would embrace this and make a gecko the official

Henry James’ the Turn of the Screw Essay
Henry James The Turn of the Screw is written with one clear and true ending where Miles dies and the
readers are left to guess the rest for themselves. Or is it? Right from the prologue, a reader may
assume that Miles and Douglas are indeed the same person, but when the reader sees, and his little
heart, dispossessed, had stopped. P.403 one dismisses that theory as lost, but it isn t. Perhaps one
ignore the idea because of many unclear allusions to discrepancies. James use of deliberate vagueness
was intended to create a second plausible ending. One may ask, how is it possible that Douglas and
Miles are the same person if Miles died? James described that Miles heart had stopped. But there are
two ways to interpret this, that Miles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
304), and the governess the age of twenty, the youngest of several daughters of a poor country parson,
had, at the age of twenty, on taking service for the first time in the schoolroom, come up to London.
(P. 295) And its already apparent that they were ten years apart. There are many details about both
Miles and Douglas, and all it takes is a bit of incentive to connect the two. Douglas clearly cares about
the governess, and maintains personal connection to the story even though it s been sitting in a drawer
for twenty years. Douglas feels attached to the story because he lived the story so many years ago.(as
Miles) Nobody but me, till now, has ever heard. It s quite too horrible. (p. 292) This shows that the
manuscript isn t just a good ghost story for him to tell people because he s never shared it before. He
also finds that Douglas s audience is more perceptive than he appears ready. They make inferences
about he and his love, and Douglas reveals bits and pieces about her. I liked her extremely and am
glad to this day to think she liked me, too. If she hadn t she wouldn t have told me.(p. 293) In the
story, she mentions several times that Miles was the most beautiful boy that she had ever laid eyes on,
and over infatuation with the boy like that would easily lead Miles to believe he was the object of her
utmost affection. To add to the fact that the woman he was in love with was the governess was when
one of the guests mentions that

Clinical Psychology
Research Methods Put into Practice
As a student transitions to a clinician, it is imperative to remember the lessons from both research and
practical applications. The thought of leaving behind the research aspect of psychological training is
that of elation and decisive joy for some, while others the thought of dealing with patients in a clinical
setting is met with dismay and anxiety. However, in order to assure a more perfect union as that of a
scientist practitioner, an aspiring doctor of clinical psychology must conform and appreciate both
aspects of the education they receive. Performance within this model is the most conducive to
applying evidence based practice in psychology (EBPP). The marriage of these two disciplines is the

However, there have been studies that encompassed the results into a useful tool to help the clinician
determine which will produce the best outcomes for the individual patient. Tayyem, Ali, Atkinson, and
Martin compiled results specifically for use with patients being evaluated as candidates for bariatric
surgery addressing specific criteria for quality of life, depression, anxiety, relationships, emotions
toward weight, self esteem, eating habits, and productivity (2011). These quantitative instruments
have been determined reliable and valid by way of being consistently replicated. These tests include;
Part one of two is the Obesity and Weight Loss Quality of Life (OWLQOL) which designates specific
emotions toward weight while part two, the Weight Related Symptom Measure (WRSM) looks at the
derogatory feelings concerning weight. Another test is the Obesity Related Well Being Scale
(ORWELL97) questionnaire, which can be used in one form to ascertain social relationships or a
second form to determine pain and impingement for physical issues. An often used test is the
Manchester Short Assessment of Quality of Life (MANSA) questionnaire, which surveys function in
life and various relationships. Finally, an often used test the 5 Item European Quality of Life (EuroQol
EQ 5D) survey addresses aspects such as depression, function, care, and anxiety (2011).

God Father Symbolism
The 1930 s and 40 s were a famous time for gangsters, mobs and mafias. The God Father directed by
Francis Ford Coppola and written by Mario Puzo focuses on this era. Gangster genre films always
seem to have dark colors and low lighting, usually an urban city location and outfitting is formal,
props in these films are guns, cigars/cigarettes, drugs and money. Everything is put in a film for a
reason and all these elements combine to create a typical gangster setting. But, The God Father was
not a typical gangster film. Mario Puzo used many, if not all of these elements but he refined the
gangster genre using intricate editing techinques. In the first scene at his daughters wedding, Bonasera
asks Don Carleone to avenge his daughters assaliant. The lighting in this scene was dark and the
camera angles high and low symbolizing who had the most power. It worked for this particluar scene
because they were doing a back door dealing and also showed us how Don Carleone was looked up to
and respected by others. The film is set in 1940 s New York, Don Corleone and his men are always
seen in formal wear, and Corleone had a cigar in a number of scenes although we dont see stacks of
money all the time it is shown to us indirectly when we see his mansion and expensive cars and fancy
dinners. This also worked for the film because it was historically correct, 1940 s New York was home
to many mobsters and crime families and the outfits represented their status in society. In my opinion I

The mythologies of the world are filled with legends of superhuman creatures that roamed the lands
and pillaged the earth in ancient times. Are these characters ancient Frankenstein s imagined to
frighten little cave children into eating their veggies, or where there actually Giant hominids that were
the result of the abominable union of Angels and Women? Because they were half Angel, they had no
need for food yet they constantly hungered for the wealth and flesh of humans. This insatiable hunger
was due to the fact that their Spirits were not of the earth or from heaven, but organic mutations out of
place on Earth and under the Power of Darkness.
In Greek mythology, Giants fought against the Gods in an attempt to take power from Zeus. The
Gigantomachia (Giant War) is a Greek myth about a war for power between the Giants and the gods of
Mount Olympus. Norse Mythology refers to the Giants as the Jotnar that conquered Asgard in The

Stop And Frisk In The United States
With president elect Donald Trump compilatning reinstating the stop and frisk people around the
country mostly in the major cities have began fearing for there civil rights. One of the reason they are
in fear is because stop and frisk has been notice that it could poetically violate our civil rights as
americans. The main reason president elect Donald Trump wants to reinstate stop and frisk is because
its has shown to decrease murders and dangerous felines to be carrying weapons on the street. This is
a major problem in policing field, because it could potentially make police make a hardly decision on
americans. The decisions that police are going to be forces to make is if the person walking down the

Common Types Of Blood Borne Pathogens
There are so many ways to be infected by disease or a virus. It s very dangerous to be affected by a
virus because it can mean death to a human being if not treated right away. One of the deadliest types
of viruses are Blood borne pathogens. Blood borne pathogens are normally transmitted to a human by
a bodily fluid from a contaminated person. They can enter your body through open cuts, mucus
membranes, skin abrasions or even sharing needles. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis
B and Hepatitis C are the most common types of blood borne pathogens. These 3 types are very
deadly to humans. These pathogens have been affecting humans for a very long time. The first known
case for HIV was in 1959, at the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Later on in the year 1981 was the
first reported case of HIV in the United States of America. Hepatitis B was officially recognized in the
year 1967. People with Hepatitis B can develop Liver cancer. Historians believe that the first cases of
Hepatitis C, was around the 8th century A.D. Cases were also reported during the civil war and
referred to as Campaign Jaundice. Even in World War 2 soldiers were hospitalized for Hepatitis C.
Some of these blood borne pathogens were discovered very recently. During the times they were
discovered they destroyed many lives. All three of these viruses have their own risk factors. HIV can
be spread through unprotected sex, if someone else has a sexually transmitted infection (they can act

Workplace Advocacy
Introduction In a profession where others health and well being are priority, there leaves room for
neglect of those who are delegated to care for these people. As a professional nurse, there are many
obstacles that arise and affect the care provided to a patient, as well as the livelihood of the nurse. The
current deteriorating and unsafe staffing conditions in hospitals and other institutions prompts
workplace advocacy as the universally appropriate concept for maintaining professional nursing
practice. The Arkansas Nurses Association and the Louisiana State Nurses Association define
workplace advocacy as a planned, organized system of services and resources designed to support the
professional nurse in the workplace (White Paper on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hess, discusses shared governance involvement with the nursing shortage that healthcare facilities are
now facing. Hess focused on the purpose of shared governance, which is to give registered nurses
control over their practice. This will help ensure nurse involvement in the workplace. In expressing his
struggle, Hess clearly defines shared governance with the order of structures and processes involved
within each organization (Hess, 2004). However, he does agree with its purpose that nursing shared
governance helps with every situation a nurse may encounter in the healthcare setting. The following
article further evaluates workplace advocacy in a way that relates to shared governance. In an article
entitled, Common Denominators: Shared Governance and Workplace Advocacy Strategies for Nurses
to Gain Control over Their Practice, Green, and Jordan explore the concepts of shared governance and
workplace advocacy. According to Green (2004), organizations implementing shared governance
concentrate on having a partnership between the organization and the employees. Shared governance
concentrates on the micro level, which is the internal aspect of workplace policies (Green, 2004). In
contrast to shared governance, workplace advocacy focuses on both micro and macro levels, which
are external. These external policies consist of local, state, or federal policies (Green, 2004). Some

President Bill Clinton began an affair with Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern, in 1995. Later in
1998, when confronted with questions in regards to an affair with Monica Lewinsky, Clinton lied
under oath in front of a grand jury. This, however, was not his first lapse in judgment as viewed by the
Senate and Congress. The President and his wife, Hillary, found themselves involved in the

Following the hearings on Whitewater, Monica S. Lewinsky began working as an unpaid intern in the
White House chief of staff s office. In August of 1995, Monica attended a surprise birthday gathering
for the President on the South Lawn. While there, the President shook her hand as she wished him a
happy birthday. Monica would later describe this encounter to the Office of Independent Council, in
the presence of a grand jury, as the beginning of a flirtation that went on at a distance. (Gormley 235).
On November 13, 1995, Monica received a promotion to a paid position in the Office of Legislative
Affairs located in the East Wing. Two days later, Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich issued a
government shutdown. Monica reported to work during the shutdown and at one point during the day,
Monica and the President s paths crossed. Monica passed by the door to the inner office of the West

Failure of design:
Having failed to contain the product within the storage tanks, there was reliance on a bund retaining
wall around the tank (secondary containment) and a system of drains and catchment areas (tertiary
containment) to ensure that any liquids did not find their way into the environment. Both forms of
containment failed. Pollutants from fuel and firefighting liquids leaked from the bund, flowed off site
and entered the groundwater. These containment systems were inadequately designed and maintained.

Explain How Different Types of Transitions Can Affect...
There are many different types of transitions during life between the ages of 0 19. Some are common,
happening to most, if not all children. Others are less common, happening to fewer (a minority)
children. All changes can affect children and young people in some way. If children are able to be
given the opportunity to ask questions, and discuss changes and events then this could help lessen any
anxieties and negative effects on their development. Four main types of transitions are below. 1.
Emotional Transitions. Obviously children s emotions are affected by their relationships and personal
experiences, if their main relationships are unsettled then they will be wary of forming future trusting
relationships with adults, e.g. if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even with discussion, young people may not actually want to move, they could regress i.e. revert to
bedwetting after the move, until they settle in. They could become sullen or argumentative (after all,
you moved even though they didn t want to!), tearful, emotional, angry and resentful or a mixture of
some/all of these. If things can be discussed before, they may actually move viewing it all as a new
chapter, huge adventure and really exciting event. Things such as changing activities in class can also
be explained before hand, at the start of the session to lessen the arguments, or sulks when an
absorbed child is asked to change what they are doing! 3. Intellectual Transitions. Intellectual
transitions include changes such as starting primary school, moving classes, key stages or up to
secondary school. Also leaving school and moving on to further education or employment. These can
all be very stressful changes for some pupils, others however, may be more than ready for the next big
step in their educational lives. Obviously, these transitions are all planned, and known about in
advance so parents and teachers are able to discuss any issue, and provide support to nervous children.
Our primary school has policies and procedures to make each stage less nerve wracking for children.

Compare And Contrast Northern And Southern Colonies
The northern and southern colonies, which were founded in the early 1600s. Both shared similarities
and differences in reasons for settlement, economics basis, and geography. The northern and southern
colonies also shared differences and similarities for hardships, leaders, relationships with the Native
Americans, problems and resolutions, growths and changes, and the types of governments.
The northern colonies consist of Massachusetts Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island,
Connecticut, and New Hampshire. They were founded in the 1600s settled in America for religious
freedom, political freedom, expand trade, and profit from trade and fishing. The northern colonies had

The black community is thankful to Atticus because he took time to represnt the case of a black man,

Steam Engine Essay
The Steam Engine and the Maxim are both forms of technology which were man made that impacted
the world. The steam engine was used to make transportation easier and more convenient for people.
The Maxim gun on the other hand was used to conquer parts of the world and show superiority over
over other groups of people. While both inventions helped groups of people get what they wanted to
survive and thrive for many years, the Steam Engine is more superior compared to the Maxim. The
idea of the Steam Engine originated from a man named Thomas Savery, an English inventor and
engineer. Thomas Savery invented the Steam Engine in 1698. Mines were places where people could

When it came to weaponry Great Britain was always ahead of the game. Always trading old weapons
while having new weapons with them at all times. The most powerful weapon at that time was the
Maxim gun. The Maxim was invented by Hiram Maxim in 1883. Great Britain was one of the most
dominant countries who wanted Afric. Technology was what could explain their dominance. When
they took parts of Africa the Africans were unable to fight against them. That was because they could
not fight with arrows and a shotgun, while their opponents had a machine gun waiting for them. Great
Britain always had the best weapons. The Maxim was the ultimate weapon. It was a machine gun that
no one could stop.
Though the Maxim did what it was made to do, which was showing dominance and getting territory, it
only helped a specific group of people. Since it was a gun it was obviously used to kill people. The
only people in Africa at the time were Africans. The Maxim was only used for dominance and
claiming territory, because it looked like no other gun at that time. Not really used to help the
continent let alone help the world.
While both inventions helped people achieve their goals one helped more people than the other. The
Steam Engine as stated before helped many miners do their job and get a paycheck. It is also more
significant because it became another idea, and sparked new inventions. Those ideas being the
inventions of cars, trains, and planes. While the Maxim was able to accomplish

Biomass Energy In Africa Essay
The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind written by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer talks about the
deforestation in Africa, and the different type of experiments William conducted in search of possible
alternative energy. Deforestation is a growing problem in Africa due to the household communities
dependency to use wood for fuel to prepare their daily meals, or use wood to create charcoal and sell
in order to buy food for their families and survive. For most households in Africa, the use of wood to
make charcoal is their way of life. Without this resource, it would make it difficult for them to survive.
Their dependency to use wood for fuel increases during the drought season and when it is flooding.
These circumstances leave them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both forms of biomass energy uses recycled waste products, making it cost effective. Waste
management by recycling to produce biomass for an alternative energy source is cost effective
because it does not require creating new material to produce energy, instead uses what is readily
available. It is beneficial to resolve the issues because of deforestation now, rather than allowing the
expenses to accumulate and in the future face the consequences due to unresolved past issues. It is an
irresponsible act to leave unresolved issues behind for our future generations to face. The use of
biomass material as an alternative source of energy carries long term benefits; we will not only save
our environment now and its natural resources, but we will also save money now and for the future
than can be used to better protect and improve our planet s environment and natural resources. The use
of biomass as an alternative source of energy will provide relief to deforestation because it is
environmentally friendly. Biomass is a renewable type of energy; manufactured through recycled
waste products to create fuel, thus helping the environment clean by reusing waste.

The Song Of Wandering Aengus, By William Yeats And Seamus...
William Yeats and Seamus Heaney are both considered as the best Irish poets. Although, they are both
Irish, however, they did not always agree on the same topics. In the poem The song of wandering
Aengus written by W.B Yeats which was a one of a kind poem that shared the same theme as the poem
Digging which was written by Heaney. Regardless of the common theme, these two poems are
different for the reason that Yeats s poem refers more to cultural identity whereas Heaney s poem talks
more about family identity, mostly about his father.
The Song of Wandering Aengus poem gives the reader a great introduction to one of the famous myths
of Ireland: the mythology of love and beauty, and his infatuation with a beautiful girl. I went to blow
the fire a flame, / But something rustled on the floor, / And someone called me by my name:/It had
become a glimmering girl (lines 10 13). In these lines, Yeats mentioned the word fire which represents
enlightenment and inspiration in the Irish culture. In addition to, it also represents Yeats desire to
breath life into Ireland s literary and cultural identity as he is the enlightened one. Where he
transitioned the trout into life which shows the reflection of his desire. However, Heaney s poem
Digging does not related in anyway to the Irish mythology or culture that was referred to in the few
lines in The Song Of Wandering Aengus . Seamus Heaney prefered to cover the idea of family in his
poem and avoided the cultural identity

Probable Cause In Criminal Investigation
According to Criminal Law and Procedure, probable cause is the least amount of evidence that is
necessary to determine criminality in regards to a search, arrest, or seizure to be proper under the
Fourth Amendment (Hall, 2015). Every case differs in how probable cause is articulated as well as the
basics of the case in terms of who, what, when, where, how, and why. In all situations, it is more than
mere suspicion and less than standard required to prove a defendant guilty at trial (beyond a
reasonable doubt) , (Hall, 2015, p. 399). Furthermore, probable cause is simply the facts of a case that
represents criminality and presented by the law enforcement officer to a judge or magistrate, to

According to Overview of Criminal Procedure, there are three sources of establishing probable cause,
observation, physical evidence, and witness statements (Bethel, 2015). Observation and profiling are
two terms that are easily misinterpreted by people in society who lack knowledge of determining a
crime. Based on an officer s experience, the officer can determine if a crime is likely to occur by
observing certain key elements a suspect or suspects display to the officer, because the officer has
observed the same principles applied in previous crimes that resulted in a crime. Observation of a
suspect is surveilling the suspect for any criminal aspects that are determined to be criminal. The
physical evidence speaks for itself as physical evidence may arise during the course of surveillance
and solidify the officer s determination that a crime is present. Statements by witnesses or anonymous
tips can assist in establishing probable cause and sometimes can be the only probable cause an officer
can establish before further investigating a potential crime (Bethel,

Masculinity in Peter Weir s Gallipoli
Essay Question: Discuss the ways in which masculinity is constructed in Gallipoli and / or First
Blood? What codes and norms of gender are used to construct masculinity in the film(s)?
The perception of masculinity within Australian films is a reflection of our society s views and
opinions of what it is to be considered masculine. It is continually reinforced in our society by the
constructions of the male character in movies, just like Archie and Frank, in Gallipoli and particular
male figures within our nation s history, such as Ned Kelly. Peter Weir s reflection of masculinity
through the use of his two main characters Archie and Frank, in his 1981 film Gallipoli, helped to
perpetuate this construction of the Aussie male stereotype ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weir demonstrates this type of homosociality in Archie and Frank s friendship by having particular
scenes within the movie where the audience watches on as both characters cement their relationship
with races for fun in the Egyptian training grounds and climbing the pyramids to leave their names to
generations to come in the ancient stones. Similar to that of young love with Frank being the strong
male and Archie taking on the role of female.
The two characters symbolize the differing attitudes to the war, to personal ambition and even the way
they run and how, the way they run, reflect how they live. Archie s sacrifice is the apotheosis of
greater love when he takes Franks place in the line symbolizing an act of a hero. But like all heroes
Frank and Archie must undergo shared trials, such as crossing the desert before they can attempt to
enlist, as well as both, having to suffer the individual humiliation of being rejected into the army. A
special kind of man went. Sure, they were adventurers, but a very simple kind. They weren t
swashbucklers, but they were a kind of warrior class Isolating the characters from their positions in a
way of dramatic irony and representing them ignorant of the causes and horrors of war, strengthens
the sense of the lost generation s innocence and the growth of a national understanding since the end
of the imperial compliance.

Change In Education
Over the years, different things evolve and change from what society is used to. For example, devices
were introduced to have a conversation with people miles away; however, as time continued,
individuals were able to talk without a wire restricting them from walking out of the kitchen. Over the
decades, the style in males and females changed drastically as well. Although people say change is
good, some change might have virtuous intentions but they end up being severely detrimental.
Colleges should not interfere with the constant flow of education by incorporating a distraction from

A Brief Note On Urban And Rural Terms
Urban and Rural Terms
Guatemala is a country that has had rapid growth economically in the world. Guatemala is becoming
the most popular country in the sector of industry and tourism of Central American, its population has
continued to increase. The growth of the population invariably leads to urbanization, which refers to
the development of urban areas and the migration of people from rural to urban centers.
On the other hand, this has the reciprocal effect of the expansion of these centers much more towards
the outside, until they begin to invade the rural areas. (Country Review: Guatemala. 2003)
Guatemala has rural areas with a low population density and small settings. Guatemala has an
enormous potential for increasing its agricultural production that would lead to rural economic
growth, job creation, and poverty alleviation. Guatemala is acknowledged as a leader in nontraditional
agriculture that exports in Central America; such as, green beans, snow peas, black beans, vegetables,
and fruits, which have grown exponentially over the past ten years helping and also benefitting
smallholder farmers. (said.gov/guatemala/education)
Guatemala Urban areas are created through urbanization and categorized by urban cities such as,
towns, colonies, and zones. Urban people defined by their advanced opportunities for education,
facilities for transport, business, and social interaction overall and a better standard of living.

Kops Argument Against Racial Profiling
Racial Profiling has been in the practice of Law Enforcement since the 1940 s. The use of Racial
Profiling should be eradicated because of the effect it has in the court system, discrimination,
excessive brutality, and the change in lifestyle. Racial Profiling is an unnecessary practice, there are
alternatives to the practice.
Racial profiling is when a police officer uses an individual s race for foundation to question he/she
with the expectation of he/she committing a crime. Copious amounts of minority races are prone to
this practice that such law enforcement use, such as African Americans, Latinos, and Middle Eastern
Americans. Levels of racial profiling are exercised by certain law enforcers. Consequently, there are

The Role Of Corporate Reputation Play Within...
1.What role does corporate reputation play within organizational performance and social
responsibility? Develop a list of factors or characteristics that different stakeholders may use in
assessing corporate reputation. Are these factors consistent across stakeholders? Why or why not?
Having a decent notoriety is the most imperative variable for any business. An organization can spend
numerous decades fabricating a decent notoriety with the utilization of value moral practices. The
issue is the notoriety can be discolored rapidly by a couple of slips in moral judgment. It is the
obligation of the pioneers of an association to be socially mindful so as to keep the notoriety clean and
untarnished. Being socially mindful means the organization must endeavor to be ecologically
benevolent, fair, monetarily capable, and evade sexual and racial issues. In the event that there are any
infringement including these themes, it can have an antagonistic impact on the partners of the
organization. Financial specialists are more prone to put resources into an organization with a strong
notoriety and one that is socially capable. A few variables that partners may use to survey corporate

Along came the Mycenaean Period after the Minoan Period, in 1500 BC. This mainland Grecian
society was very different from the Minoans. While the Minoans of Crete were laidback, these
Grecians were much more militaristic and practical, much like how the Roman Empire was, except
there were individual communities often warring with each other. Also, the Mycenaean cities were
dominated by gigantic citadels, or huge fortresses, that were strategically placed on ground that was
higher than the rest of the city, and were protected by massive walls that were made of limestone,
which were entered by a great set of fortified gates. There are some similarities between the
Mycenaean and Minoan people. Much like the Minoan palaces, the grand house for the important
members of the Mycenaean group had many large rooms that were built around a central courtyard as
well. The central courtyard had a distinctive feature called the megaron, which was an elliptical hall
that was used for both domestic and ceremonial purposes. It took up one side of the courtyard and had
a grand front porch and vestibule. Other than the megaron in the courtyard, the only other difference
between the two periods was that in the Mycenaean Period, the rooms of the palace were much
smaller and more compact, again resembling the practicality of Rome s architecture instead of the
grandness and beauty of Grecian architecture. (Reid 26)

I am sure of this because throughout the video Mark Jacob, a journalist who is also the owner of the
lamb, reached out to a numerous of individuals so that they too could help him solve this mystery.
Rather than just asking friends or family members, Mark instead reached out to scientists, histologists,

Sociological Imagination In Australia
A way to approach sociology is to carry out a sociological imagination. One way to describe
sociological imagination is the ability to think yourself away from the familiar everyday life (quoted
from C. Wright Mills) and to look at society with an entirely different perspective. Its about thinking
outside of your own mind and your way of seeing things. This essay will discuss gender inequality by
looking at society with a sociological imagination.Candace West and Don Zimmerman stated that
gender is a routine accomplishment .The sociological imagination has been discovered to see how
everyday situations in society play out in seeing how people are different in terms of their places in

Organisations are a key to understanding gender inequality. gender inequality within organisations has
been debated for several years and yet still today is a touchy subject with organisations being
discriminative right from the interview stage. Some organisations prefer to hire a man rather than a
women because women are more likely to take maternity leave and days off to look after sick kids
they are considered weaker than men even though women may perform better than men at certain

The Epidemic Of Polio During The Egyptian Era
From the late Egyptian era to the early 1900 s, humans were perplexed about why people were
suddenly getting paralyzed without warning. It wasn t until research skills and technology
accessibility improved that scientists were able to grasp the idea that it was all caused by the
Poliomyelitis virus. Polio began ravaging through the world in the twentieth century, crippling
children, and, even after the discovery of numerous vaccines, is still relentless enough that it infects
children today. Poliomyelitis, also called infantile paralysis (Swanson 1), is a virus that has been
around for over 3,000 years, but had troubled scientists right up until the early 1900s when they had
the resources to fully research it. This virus is part of the enterovirus division, meaning it attacks
through oral ingestion and gains access to the body along the gastrointestinal tract (the tract that leads
from the mouth to the anus). From the G.I. tract, it then enters the blood, through which it travels to
and attacks the nervous system. Once the virus fully destroys a neuron, the neuron then cannot
regenerate and therefore ends the connection between the other neurons around it. This left the
infected hosts with twisted limbs, extreme muscle pain and spasms, and, in extremely severe cases, the
inability to perform vital life functions. Polio can be classified into three different types, depending on
which part of the nervous system it decides to attack. Spinal Poliomyelitis was the most

  • 2. The Effect of Advertisements and Commericals on Television Advertisements and commercials have been an integral part of American history for many years. Since the invention of the newspaper, people in the United States and lots of other countries have been heavily influenced by advertisements. These ingenious tools are used to make people desire to buy a product or contribute to the success of a product in some way. In more modern history advertisements have been implemented into television and other mediums of mass media. Because so many people watch television everyday it is the perfect tool to advertise with. Also, the advertisements must be interesting and have enough appeal to actually captivate the audience s interest. The car insurance company Geico understands this concept very well. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Old MacDonald is a classic nursery rhyme that every child hears at some point. This means that anyone who sees the commercial will recognize this character and connect better with the advertisement as a whole. The primary means of appeal for this commercial and all Geico commercials over the past few years is humor. This particular commercial makes fun of old MacDonald s spelling ability. In the nursery rhyme, an animal name is said followed by the sounds e i e i o. The commercial flips this so that this is the way old MacDonald spells. This is further exaggerated by the fact he is put into a spelling bee setting. It may be a shock that Geico is actually owned by a much larger company. Berkshire Hathaway Incorporated is the company that owns Geico. In fact, it also owns several other companies such as Dairy Queen, Fruit of the Loom, Lubrizol and Helzberg Diamonds to name a few. A man by the name of Warren Buffett the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway helped to gain better advertisements for Geico by going through different advertising agencies. • 3. Henry James’ the Turn of the Screw Essay Henry James The Turn of the Screw is written with one clear and true ending where Miles dies and the readers are left to guess the rest for themselves. Or is it? Right from the prologue, a reader may assume that Miles and Douglas are indeed the same person, but when the reader sees, and his little heart, dispossessed, had stopped. P.403 one dismisses that theory as lost, but it isn t. Perhaps one ignore the idea because of many unclear allusions to discrepancies. James use of deliberate vagueness was intended to create a second plausible ending. One may ask, how is it possible that Douglas and Miles are the same person if Miles died? Douglas clearly cares about the governess, and maintains personal connection to the story even though it s been sitting in a drawer for twenty years. Douglas feels attached to the story because he lived the story so many years ago.(as Miles) Nobody but me, till now, has ever heard. It s quite too horrible. • 6. God Father Symbolism The 1930 s and 40 s were a famous time for gangsters, mobs and mafias. The God Father directed by Francis Ford Coppola and written by Mario Puzo focuses on this era. Gangster genre films always seem to have dark colors and low lighting, usually an urban city location and outfitting is formal, props in these films are guns, cigars/cigarettes, drugs and money. Everything is put in a film for a reason and all these elements combine to create a typical gangster setting. But, The God Father was not a typical gangster film. Mario Puzo used many, if not all of these elements but he refined the gangster genre using intricate editing techinques. In the first scene at his daughters wedding, Bonasera asks Don Carleone to avenge his daughters assaliant. The lighting in this scene was dark and the camera angles high and low symbolizing who had the most power. It worked for this particluar scene because they were doing a back door dealing and also showed us how Don Carleone was looked up to and respected by others. The film is set in 1940 s New York, Don Corleone and his men are always seen in formal wear, and Corleone had a cigar in a number of scenes although we dont see stacks of money all the time it is shown to us indirectly when we see his mansion and expensive cars and fancy dinners. This also worked for the film because it was historically correct, 1940 s New York was home to many mobsters and crime families and the outfits represented their status in society. Though the Maxim did what it was made to do, which was showing dominance and getting territory, it only helped a specific group of people. Since it was a gun it was obviously used to kill people. The only people in Africa at the time were Africans. The Maxim was only used for dominance and claiming territory, because it looked like no other gun at that time. • 24. Biomass Energy In Africa Essay The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind written by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer talks about the deforestation in Africa, and the different type of experiments William conducted in search of possible alternative energy. Deforestation is a growing problem in Africa due to the household communities dependency to use wood for fuel to prepare their daily meals, or use wood to create charcoal and sell in order to buy food for their families and survive. For most households in Africa, the use of wood to make charcoal is their way of life. Without this resource, it would make it difficult for them to survive. Their dependency to use wood for fuel increases during the drought season and when it is flooding. These circumstances leave them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both forms of biomass energy uses recycled waste products, making it cost effective. Waste management by recycling to produce biomass for an alternative energy source is cost effective because it does not require creating new material to produce energy, instead uses what is readily available. It is beneficial to resolve the issues because of deforestation now, rather than allowing the expenses to accumulate and in the future face the consequences due to unresolved past issues. It is an irresponsible act to leave unresolved issues behind for our future generations to face. The use of biomass material as an alternative source of energy carries long term benefits; we will not only save our environment now and its natural resources, but we will also save money now and for the future than can be used to better protect and improve our planet s environment and natural resources. The use of biomass as an alternative source of energy will provide relief to deforestation because it is environmentally friendly. • 25. The Song Of Wandering Aengus, By William Yeats And Seamus... William Yeats and Seamus Heaney are both considered as the best Irish poets. Although, they are both Irish, however, they did not always agree on the same topics. In the poem The song of wandering Aengus written by W.B Yeats which was a one of a kind poem that shared the same theme as the poem Digging which was written by Heaney. Regardless of the common theme, these two poems are different for the reason that Yeats s poem refers more to cultural identity whereas Heaney s poem talks more about family identity, mostly about his father. The Song of Wandering Aengus poem gives the reader a great introduction to one of the famous myths of Ireland: the mythology of love and beauty, and his infatuation with a beautiful girl. I went to blow the fire a flame, / But something rustled on the floor, / And someone called me by my name:/It had become a glimmering girl (lines 10 13). In these lines, Yeats mentioned the word fire which represents enlightenment and inspiration in the Irish culture. In addition to, it also represents Yeats desire to breath life into Ireland s literary and cultural identity as he is the enlightened one. Where he transitioned the trout into life which shows the reflection of his desire. However, Heaney s poem Digging does not related in anyway to the Irish mythology or culture that was referred to in the few lines in The Song Of Wandering Aengus . Probable Cause In Criminal Investigation According to Criminal Law and Procedure, probable cause is the least amount of evidence that is necessary to determine criminality in regards to a search, arrest, or seizure to be proper under the Fourth Amendment (Hall, 2015). Based on an officer s experience, the officer can determine if a crime is likely to occur by observing certain key elements a suspect or suspects display to the officer, because the officer has observed the same principles applied in previous crimes that resulted in a crime. Observation of a suspect is surveilling the suspect for any criminal aspects that are determined to be criminal. The physical evidence speaks for itself as physical evidence may arise during the course of surveillance and solidify the officer s determination that a crime is present. What codes and norms of gender are used to construct masculinity in the film(s)? The perception of masculinity within Australian films is a reflection of our society s views and opinions of what it is to be considered masculine. It is continually reinforced in our society by the constructions of the male character in movies, just like Archie and Frank, in Gallipoli and particular male figures within our nation s history, such as Ned Kelly. Peter Weir s reflection of masculinity through the use of his two main characters Archie and Frank, in his 1981 film Gallipoli, helped to perpetuate this construction of the Aussie male stereotype ... It wasn t until research skills and technology accessibility improved that scientists were able to grasp the idea that it was all caused by the Poliomyelitis virus. Polio began ravaging through the world in the twentieth century, crippling children, and, even after the discovery of numerous vaccines, is still relentless enough that it infects children today. Poliomyelitis, also called infantile paralysis (Swanson 1), is a virus that has been around for over 3,000 years, but had troubled scientists right up until the early 1900s when they had the resources to fully research it. This virus is part of the enterovirus division, meaning it attacks through oral ingestion and gains access to the body along the gastrointestinal tract (the tract that leads from the mouth to the anus). From the G.I. tract, it then enters the blood, through which it travels to and attacks the nervous system. Once the virus fully destroys a neuron, the neuron then cannot regenerate and therefore ends the connection between the other neurons around it. This left the infected hosts with twisted limbs, extreme muscle pain and spasms, and, in extremely severe cases, the inability to perform vital life functions.
