Public library buildings in Sri Lanka are generally of poor quality and do not meet accepted library building standards. Many are housed in converted and unsuitable buildings that do not consider factors like accessibility, maintenance, and security. Proper design criteria for public library buildings should focus on functionality, flexibility, sustainability, technology, and compliance with standards regarding space, collections, lighting, and disaster prevention. Collaboration is needed between relevant organizations to improve standards and implement better library building projects.

Minimum standards for philippine public libraries

Humasol general presentation
Humasol is a non-profit organization offering engineering students the opportunity to design and implement renewable energy projects in less prosperous regions, mainly located in the southern hemisphere. We are committed to only undertake projects on request of local communities, either directly or through a Belgian non-profit (non-governmental) organization. In doing so we exclusively carry out projects on locations with a real need and a strongly interested local community. Our goal is to develop with these communities renewable energy solutions and knowledge to shape a sustainable future. In other words, with the assistance of the community and the support of our sponsors we transform the knowledge of our project students into sustainable projects which the local population is able to maintain, expand and reproduce.
Our projects are focused on rural communities with a need for renewable energy and the potential to undertake and achieve sustainable development. Humahuaca in Argentina (2007, 2009, 2010 en 2011), La Cascarilla in Peru (2010, 2011) and Thiès in Senegal (2011) have already been on the menu. In 2012 we add Kenya to our portfolio with a first water desalinization project based on solar concentrator technology. Returning to the same location for several years gives us the opportunity to gradually improve and develop our projects. Additionally our recurring presence gives the community the opportunity to become self-reliant, self-improve their renewable energy technology knowledge and finally realize new projects of their own.
ach spring we select our projects for the next year. In October, after a thorough selection procedure, project students are assigned to the projects. The students are selected from CV and motivation letter applications and an interview with the project promoter(s). Most students will be able to integrate their Humasol experience as an internship or master thesis into their curriculum. From November to June the students will design and prepare the projects under supervision of the project promoter(s). In April the project design is submitted for approval to the board of directors. Together with the project promoter(s), the board will formulate recommendations and feedback to ensure the success of the project or in rare cases cancel the project if deemed necessary. The project is implemented together with the local community in six to ten weeks during summer.

In September 2017, the Low Carbon Energy for Development Network (LCEDN) held its annual conference on the topic of "Equity and Energy Justice" at Durham University, UK. As a follow-up to this conference, we held two webinars to share highlights from the conference.
The first webinar focussed on energy justice. This month, we examined a second theme from the conference, and focused on questions of how academic research can best have impact at the grassroots of energy access and productive use, how that "knowledge gap" can be closed, and what some of the most effective solutions might be for ensuring that research can be applied effectively and equitably.
The speakers included Practical Action's Sarah Begg, who has been leading a participatory learning study with LCEDN looking at how academic research impacts the grassroots. She will be joined by her colleague from Practical Action's Bangladesh office, Iffat Khan, who will present some of the specific outcomes and experiences of the study in Bangladesh. Finally, the Smart Villages Initiative will share the global perspectives they have been able to gather on bridging academic research and making it relevant to energy access practitioners, entrepreneurs, and rural communities.

Solar energy
Solar energy technologies refer primarily to the use of solar radiation for practical ends. All other renewable energies other than geothermal derive their energy from energy received from the sun.
Solar technologies are broadly characterized as either passive solar or active solar depending on the way they capture, convert and distribute sunlight. Active solar techniques include the use of photovoltaic modules (also called photovoltaic panels) and solar thermal collectors (with electrical or mechanical equipment) to convert sunlight into useful outputs. Passive solar techniques include orienting a building to the Sun, selecting materials with favorable thermal mass or light dispersing properties, and designing spaces that naturally circulate air.
Light Intensity And Photosynthesis
The lesson plan outlines an experiment to investigate how light intensity affects the rate of photosynthesis. Students will measure the rate of bubble production in Elodea over a range of distances from a lamp to determine the relationship between light intensity and photosynthesis. In the first lesson, students will set up the experiment and collect initial data. The second lesson will involve collecting additional data and graphing the results to show how the rate of photosynthesis changes with light intensity. The goal is for students to understand that light energy drives photosynthesis and more intense light results in a higher rate.

Flooding causes more damage from fungal infections. It will increase pollution and smelly. Then, our group creates a project called "E.M. BALL FIGHT!…FOR FLOOD”. Trying to restore pollution in water and eliminate unpleasant smell. It also provides additional water treatment. Increases the oxygen in the water, bacteria in E.M. is the same type of bacteria used in yogurt. It is not harmful to humans and animals or the environment in any way.

A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.
