In the recent past, Resource sharing concept has become prime factor and playing vital role in
libraries because of innovative developments in Information, Communication and Technology
(ICT). ICT has made easy to establish networks among libraries and share their information
resources quickly and instantly. Resource sharing has become prime reason for establishing
cooperation between libraries without any geographical barriers. The various reasons for resource
sharing are might be cost benefits, non-availability of resources, insufficient library funds, lack of
skills etc. In this paper, the attempt has been made to understand the various aspects of resource
sharing in modern library technological environment.
These slides contain various sections in libraries and their functions including ICT devices that can be used to perform these functions in the 21st century.
Library automation refers to the implementation of information and communications technologies (ICT) in the libraries and information centres for replacing manual library operations. The term automation is used for any process which is done through input and output operation. Library automation system includes maintenance of large bibliographical database. The status of library automation depends on Interaction between human and computer to accomplish various tasks of the library automation systems. In order to provide and also to enable the records in the database. The international standards for bibliographic description of library automation system uses sophisticated software tools and standard to index search and display information from the database created.

Streamlining Education with Library Management Software.pdfmayank jain
libraries are an essential component of any educational institution, serving as a gateway to a wealth of knowledge and information. However, the traditional manual approach to library management presents various challenges and limitations, affecting both the efficiency and user experience of the library. Transitioning from manual library management to comprehensive school management software offers numerous benefits, such as increased efficiency, reduced workload, time savings for both library users and staff, and enhanced user satisfaction. Embracing this transformative technology can help create a knowledge-rich environment that fosters a love for learning and exploration.
Online libraries became essential source for both faculty and research members in order to obtain knowledge about different fields of sciences. Students all over the world are using for their researches the materials available on online libraries so that they can accomplish their tasks and day-to-day researches.
An e-library database is used to store information according to its users. The documents stored in those database locations are called media where they are books and journals.
The e-library must keep track of the status of each media item: its location, status, descriptive attributes, and cost for losses and late returns. Books will be identified by their ID. In order to allow multiple copies of the same book or journal, each media item will have a unique ID number.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.

2. Major Departments of a LIBRARY
The libraries have been in existence from the beginning of the civilization or better still from the
time when man learnt the art of recording & communicating ideas. Libraries provide the
incentive to the development of educational, social, & cultural activities. According to Dr. S. R.
Ranganathan, “Libraries are not mere store houses; they are springs from which knowledge
flows out to irrigate the wide field of education & culture”.
The word ‘Library’ comes from the Latin word ‘Libraria’, which means a place where books &
other writings are kept.
According to UNESCO’s Terminology of Documentation, “Library is an organized collection of
printed books & periodicals or of any other graphic or audio-visual materials & the service of a
staff to provide & facilitate the use of such materials as are required to meet the informational,
research, educational or recreational needs of its users”.
ALA Glossary of Library & Information Science defined ‘Library’ as, “A collection of materials
organized to provide physical, bibliophic, & intellectual access to a target group with a staff that
is trained to provide services programs related to the information needs of the target group”.
