This document discusses pruning trees. It defines pruning as selectively removing branches to improve a tree's structure and direct healthy growth. There are several types of pruning: thinning removes branches back to their origin to open the canopy; cleaning removes dead, diseased or damaged limbs; reduction cuts reduce height or width; and structural pruning improves structure and long-term health. The document emphasizes that pruning has benefits like removing hazards, encouraging new growth, and maintaining trees' shapes.
Biofumigation: A Potential Aspect for Suppression of Plant-Parasitic NematodesIJEABJ
Plant-parasitic nematode cause economic loss to crops throughout the world. Biofumigation is the environmental friendly control option for the suppression of plant-parasitic as well as other pathogenic soil microbes. Glucosinolates are the main active compound present in some plants which are responsible for biofumigation process. To increase the efficiency of biofumigation selection of varieties containing more glucosinolates is highly desirable. Plant growth stage, soil temperature, soil texture, moisture, soil depth and soil microbes play important role in efficient biofumigation.
Interaction of nematodes with the bacterial plant pathogens. this will give the idea how the bacteria and nematode symbiotically interact each other and causes diseases in plant system.
PRESENT STATUS AND PROSPECT OF BOTANICALS IN PLANT DISEASE CONTROLSamar Biswas
Botanicals have been in use for a long time for pest control. A product of species coevolution, these compounds offer many environmental advantages. However, their uses during the 20th century have been rather marginal compared with other bio control methods of pests and pathogens. Improvement in our understanding of plant allelochemical mechanisms of activity offer new prospects for using these substances in crop protection. We examine the reasons behind their limited use and the actual crop protection developments involving plant allelochemicals, namely formulations including bio pesticides of plant origin for organic or traditional agricultures, and improvement of plant resistance to pathogens through identification of genes coding for allelochemicals and stimulation of natural passive and active defenses of the plant. Commercial and regulatory aspects are discussed.

Summer Tree Pruning: How to Keep Your Trees Healthy During the HeatSesmas Tree Service
Summer is a time of lush greenery, vibrant blooms, and outdoor activities. While many of us enjoy the beauty of trees during this season, it's essential to remember that they require proper care to thrive in the summer heat. Tree pruning is a crucial aspect of tree maintenance, but many homeowners are unsure about the best practices for pruning during the summer months. https://sesmastreeservice.com/tree-trimming-and-pruning-p-9.html
canopy management in lime and lemone is very important. It affects the flowering and fruiting behaviour of plants. it also allows proper light interception.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2. LESSON OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, you are able to:
•define pruning;
•identify the different types of pruning; and
•appreciate the importance of pruning.
3.
4.
5.
6. Questions:
•What have you observed in the presented
images?
•What are the possible effects if those trees
are in the backyard?
•What should be done to manage the
situation?
14. What is the definition ofTree Pruning?
Pruning is when you selectively remove
branches from a tree. The goal is to remove
unwanted branches, improve the tree’s
structure, and direct new, healthy growth.
15. What are the benefits of Pruning?
• Say farewell to dead, broken or damaged branches.
• Save your property from potential damage from fallen
branches.
• When you remove old branches, you give trees the green
light to put out healthy, new growth.
• Train trees to grow on your terms so that branches won’t
hang over the roof or stretch into power lines.
• Give trees a clean, polished look that elevates your whole
landscape.
• Set the tree up with a good foundation for long-term health.
16. Types or Methods of Pruning
THINNING
- removes limbs all the way back to their
branch of origin. It’s a method used to free up a
full canopy so that more sunlight can come
through.
17. Types or Methods of Pruning
CLEANING
- is like fine-tuning a tree. Simple cuts are
used to clear out dead, diseased, and damaged
limbs to give the tree a polished look.
18. Types or Methods of Pruning
REDUCTION
- reduction cuts reduce a tree’s height or
width.This method typically shortens branches
that are inching into utility lines or reduces a
wide-spread tree.
19. Types or Methods of Pruning
STRUCTURAL (subordination)
- structural cuts could involve one or more of
the above methods to improve a plant’s
structure and long-term health.
