MILLING MACHINE


The axles on a milling machine that determines the
possibilities of movement of the machine tool. Thus,
the greater number of axles, greater possibilities of
movement or more degrees of freedom.



Is important to understand that , when speaking of
axes referred to the axes of a Cartesian system (X , Y,
Z)



In this regard, the milling machine can be
categorized according to the number of axes in three
types:


Three-axes .



Milling is the possibility of movement with horizontal,
vertical , oblique , the latter as a result of the
combination of movements between table and spindle
bracket . They allow control over the relative motion
between the machine tool and the work piece, in each
of the three axes of the Cartesian system .


Four axes.



Type four-axis milling machines , all of the
functions described in the previous type : relative
movement between workpiece and tool , in all
three axes .


Five axes.

In addition to meeting all the possibilities
described above , the five-axis milling
machines have two peculiarities.
 Otherwise , allow the rotation of the
workpiece about a horizontal axis and that
the tool can tilt about an axis perpendicular
to the former .

Simple milling


This is the most basic , family milling
machines with automated motion . The
spindle or collet axis is horizontal. The table
has a vertical displacement which is
manually operated by a screw. Above this ,
the carriage describes an automated motion
parallel to the spindle .
Universal Milling Machine


Are designed to obtain a high degree of
versatility and control , resulting in good
productivity. However, they are not suitable for
heavy work because their guides are short.
(This makes the truck more unstable , heavy
duty and accelerate wear, a convex shape of
the guides) .



The reason that the guides are shorter is simply
to allow rotation of the machine, while working
, without touching the operator's body .
Copier milling
designed to reproduce copies of a model, in the
workpieces . To this end, have two tables : a work
piece which is subjected to milling, He annexed a
piece called probe , which is in charge of precisely
palpate the model to copy . The probe follows the
contour of the model to copy and collet tool
copies the motion described by him, and is
carving out a new piece.
 This type of milling is especially suited to
reproduce figures , prints or drawings .

