This is the first presentation of my Final Year project done(doing 2015-16) as part of fulfilling my B-Tech degree in CSE from Govt. Engineering College Sreekrishnapuram, Palakkad, Kerala, India.
My Final Year Project - Individual Control Home Automation SystemMichael Olafusi
This project involves the design and construction of an individual control home
automation system using RS232, GSM technology and a microcontroller.
Home automation is the automatic or semi-automatic control and monitoring of
household appliances and residential house features like doors, gate and even the windows.
This project is a demonstration of how to design and build a multi purpose remotely
controlled system that can switch OFF and ON any electrical household appliance (including the security light), by dialling a phone already interfaced via RS232 to a microcontroller that controls a relay for the automatic switching on and off of the appliance and the phone will send a feedback short message service text indicating the new state of the appliance, whether switched ON or OFF.
The results of this project show that a microcontroller is a very powerful device for
building smart electronic devices that can automatically control electrical appliances, with little circuitry complexities and components.

WearableAgency - We develop home automation applicationWearable Agency
Home automation involves introducing a degree of computerized or automatic control to certain electrical and electronics system in a building.
These lighting, temperature control, etc.., this paper demonstrate a simple home automation system which contains a remote mobile host controller and several client module (home appliances).
The client modules communicate with host controllers through a wireless device such as a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, in this case, an android based smart phone.
As technology becomes more advanced and modernized; more features are added to the existing system
for the purpose of satisfying the increasing security needs of the people. Deploying wireless technologies
for security and control in home offers attractive benefits along with user friendly interface. In this paper
we present a smart security system comprises of Zigbee, GSM, Sensors and Smartphone for Security
monitoring and control, when the user is at remote premises. Three sensors namely P
IR, vibration and door sensor are installed at windows and doors. Whenever there is a security breach the
sensors sends the signal to the Pic microcontroller. The Max 232 converter provides serial interface
between the microcontroller and the zigbee. The Zigbee end device then transmits the signal to the Zigbee
coordinator. The ZC at the control console communicates with MCU using max 232 converters. MCU
would in turn access and control the GSM module via AT commands and automatically sends SMS to the
owner's mobile phone informing him about the security breach. On receiving the SMS, user can make a
video call using Skype account; Smartphone installed at home will feed us with a live video. On viewing
the video the user can know whether an intruder has entered or not. Then accordingly faint gas valve and
door lock can be controlled by the user. Thus whenever there is an intrusion, our system lets the user to
monitor and control his premises from any part of the world.

Domotics – A Cost Effective Smart Home Automation System Using Wifi as Networ...IJERA Editor
This paper describes an investigation into the potential for remote controlled operation of home automation (also called as Domotics) systems. It considers problems with their implementation, discusses possible solutions through various network technologies and indicates how to optimize the use of such systems. This paper emphasizes on the design and prototype implementation of new home automation system that uses WiFi technology as a network infrastructure connecting its parts. The proposed can be viewed on two fold; the first part is the software (web server), which presents system core that manages, controls, and monitors users’ home. Users and system administrator can locally (LAN) or remotely (internet) manage the system code. Second part is hardware interface module, which provides appropriate interface to sensors and actuator of home automation system. Unlike most of available home automation system in the market the proposed system is scalable that one server can manage many hardware interface modules as long as it exists on WiFi network coverage.
The smart home automated control system is an integrated system to facilitate elderly and disabled people with an easy-to-use home automation system that can be fully operated based on android application. The system is portable and constructed in a way that is easy to install, configure, run, and maintain. A typical wireless smart home automation system allows one to control house hold appliances centralize control unit which is wireless.
Home Automation System using ZigBee and PandaBoard as a Gateway (HAS-ZP)idescitation
Today’s homes have as many wires as the number of devices to control. Home
automation using ZigBee and PandaBoard as a gateway does away with the need for
separate wires and even remotes. The wireless home area network doesn’t require line-of-
sight communication. The HAS-ZP is a wireless home automation system that can be
implemented in existing home environments, without any changes in the infrastructure.
Home Automation lets the user control the home appliances from his or her smart-phone or
laptop. The assigned actions can happen depending on time or other sensor readings such as
light, temperature or sound from any connected device in the Home Automation network.
With the help of PandaBoard, currently working as gateway, we can control, command,
operate and observe the end devices. Here we are considering end devices like fan, bulb, TV,
Music System, doors, windows etc. with the single gateway, the system can control entire
home irrespective of number of rooms or boundaries where each room will be connected
with single receiver.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
