Peter Kirkpatrick s Suburban Moment
Peter Kirkpatrick s poem Suburban Moment, 2 a.m. is a poem told in first person by the narrator or
persona which Kirkpatrick has created. It is structured as a 14 line sonnet with eight lines in the first
stanza and six lines in the second stanza. In the poem, Kirkpatrick presents a persona/narrator,
suggestively himself, who, during the middle of the night (at 2 a.m. as the title suggests) has an
extensive case of writer s block and is determined not to let sleep tempt him until his poem is
complete. The language used, along with the sentence structure of the poem, suggests a stuck and
frustrated tone and situation. There are three particular lines which seem to be quite effective within
this poem. These lines are: 1. No moon. No clouds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This grammatical feature allows for the writer to explain, and the reader to comprehend, the time at
which the action of the verb takes place. It should be explained to the students the importance of verb
tenses. In particular, the aspect that these three tenses tell the time of a verb s action. In line with this,
it is also important for children to be given a definition for each of the tenses. For example: a past verb
tense (simple) shows that the action had occurred in the past, or the time leading up to now; a present
verb tense (simple) shows an action that is happening at that moment in time, or is reoccurring
regularly; and a future verb tense (simple) shows an action that will happen in the future, and have not
taken place yet. In simple verb tenses, past tense is generally recognised by words such as was ,
has/have , and words with an ed ending (e.g. I was talking , I have talked , I talked ); present tense can
be recognised by words such as is , am , are , and verbs ending in an s or ing (e.g. He is talking , I am
talking , We are talking , He talks ); future tense is normally recognised through the use of the word
will (e.g. I will

Purpose Of Industrialization
Despite having a large agricultural land, Mississippi is still one of the poorest states in America
without enough food for its population. One of the reasons is that farming has been taken over by
mega corporations whose harvest is not intended to feed the local population, but instead to feed other
parts of the world. The environment pays a big price for this, as these corporations do not find it
important to put aside some funds to take care of it. This has caused people like Mr. Wendell Berry to
speak out. In this essay, we analyze his interview with Bill Moyers and examine how this impacts us
from a Christian perspective.
Mr. Wendell Berry, an 82 year old from Kentucky, is an environmentalist who dedicated his life to
fight for this planet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, politicians who are supposed to speak out for the planet and its inhabitants are
sometimes paid for by corporations, who in turn benefit from the former s inaction and silence. This
has created a system where the politicians and corporations are almost inseparable and work hand in
hand at the expense of our planet. As he puts it, we need people who see the problem and go right at it
without waiting for the government permission or any form of official advice. Otherwise, a big part of
the planet is going to be uninhabitable in the coming years. For believers, especially, this is something
that God asks us to do. It is emphasized a number of times in the Bible that we are required to work
and keep this earth. Not doing so would mean disrespecting our

Native American Education Essay
Children were taken away from their homes and told everything they knew was wrong. They were
sent to boarding schools to change their culture. These boarding schools were run by the United States
government. The government s goal was to civilize Native Americans. They sent children to these
schools against their will. Native American children were educated like Americans and they had to
change their native ways to be more like whites (Cayton 266). Teachers abused their students and beat
their native ways out of them. They were not allowed to see their families so they would try to escape,
but their attempts were unsuccessful. The United States government s Boarding Schools of the mid
late 1800s irreparably changed Native American culture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Crazy Horse was brutally murdered and the Sioux surrendered ( Battle ). In 1890 the government
learned that the Native Americans were doing the Ghost Dance (Cayton 265). The Ghost Dance was a
ritual in which people join hands and twirled in a circle (Cayton 265). When the government saw the
Ghost Dance, they thought the Native Americans were crazy and trying to rebel, so they tried to arrest
Sitting Bull (Cayton 265). In this conflict that came to be known as the Battle of Wounded Knee,
soldiers killed Sitting Bull, 120 men, and 230 women and children (Cayton 265). These battles pushed
Native Americans onto reservations and took away their basic human rights. Early Native American
schooling was taught in tribes. Tribes would teach their children healing arts and specialized crafts
like making shell money (Nash 173). Tribes used legends as a form of education a long time ago
(Fixico 41). These stories would teach important lessons like how to live in balance with nature. Many
tribes would make day schools to educate children on tribal sovereignty (Ellis). In the 1840s, the
Cherokees formed a system of public schools (Perdue 64). Education in tribes was an important right
of the Native Americans. The main goal of boarding schools was to civilize Native Americans. The
federal government wanted to solve The Indian Problem by assimilating Native Americans into white
culture and felt that education

Information in this digital age is very important and an imperative for the conduct of business and

2. INTRODUCTION 2.1 Meaning of Databases and compilations
Databases in copyright are principally kinds of compilation, and compilations are seen as things that
are being protected . So in defining compilation, we can say that A compilation is defined in the § 101
definitions section as: A work formed by the collection and assembling of pre existing materials or of
data that are selected, coordinated, or arranged in such a way that the resulting work as a whole
constitutes an original work of authorship.
This evidences that the protection of copyright in a compilation emphasizes and concentrates on the
original ways that the data or materials that pre existed are arranged, organized, coordinated and
selected, not the data. In s. 102 the subject clearly shows and comprises of compilations and derivative
works, but only

Essay about The Wedding Guest in The Rime of the Ancient...
The Wedding Guest in The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
What does it mean to be wise? Webster s Dictionary defines the word wise as being marked by deep
understanding, keen discerment . Through the telling of the ancient Mariner s tale, the Wedding Guest
became sadder and wiser. He became sad in that he identified himself with the shallow and self
absorbed mariner. However, the mariner changed his ways. The Wedding Guest became wise through
realizing that he himself needed to alter his ways.
As the ancient Mariner described his adventures at sea to the Wedding Guest, the Guest became
saddened because he identified his own selfish ways with those of the Mariner. The mariner told the
Guest that he and his ship mates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Upon the slimy sea. (lines 123 126)
He was taken overy by Life in Death and his sin nature had separated him from God, for The horned
moon, with one bright star / Within the nether tip (line 210 211) is a pagan symbol signifying the
absence of God.
It is only when the Mariner began to bless all living things and saw beyond his own self that the
Albatross fell off. He then felt a connection with nature and God, for Heaven sent down rain that
refreshed the ancient Mariner and angelic spirits led him onward. He needed to change and become
penitent before he could be rid of the guilt. In repenting, he was given a penance of life: whenever his
heart burns within him, he must tell his tale to those who are meant to hear it.
The Wedding Guest became wise and he realized that he needed a change of heart. He, like the
Ancient Mariner, needed to change his ways so that the Albatross s blood all the sin in his life would
be washed away and his soul would be shrieved. And it is only when he begins to consider the
significance and consequences of his actions that he will become closer to God and nature and
develop connections with each. There is hope for the Wedding Guest, for it says, He rose the morrow
morn. (line 625) With the coming of each new day, there also come the hope

Internet Service Providers Essay
We think we can do whatever we want to on the Internet, but can we really? In this day and age,
people log on and surf the web without a second thought, and often take the freedoms of the Internet
for granted. One of the most valuable things about the Internet is that it s open and equal. Anyone can
access or create new websites, and as of now, each website is treated the same. Unfortunately, this
freedom is being threatened and the Internet as we know it could change for good.
Net Neutrality is the idea that Internet providers should treat all websites and Internet services the
same. Major internet providers are now making the argument that they should be allowed to charge
their customers more money, depending on what the customer uses ... Show more content on

This new policy would introduce hurt more then it would help. Institutions like public libraries,
schools and other places that offer Wi Fi for use would have to pay tremendous costs. Schools, for
example, are having a hard enough time obtaining the funding for materials like school supplies or for
qualified teachers, and to add the cost of individual websites that students need access to is unfair and
in some schools, impossible.
This proposal would also allow ISP s to block certain websites all together. For example, Verizon
could block Google completely, forcing their customers to pay for the Verizon search engine. Not only
would it add extra costs to your internet bill, but it would also create a tiered internet. This means that
not only would customers have to pay for certain websites, but those same costly sites would have to
pay the ISPs as well. A tiered internet means that a few websites would get high speed priority and be
favored over other sites. To be placed in these high speed tiers, the websites would have to pay huge
amounts of money to the ISPs. Why should the Internet Service Providers have full, unrestricted
access to control everything that goes on online?
A tiered Internet would effect everyone, and not always in a good way. If you are an avid Netflix user,
and are constantly watching shows, then the fact that their Internet service speed was lightning fast
would be enjoyable. But if you had to go on a smaller site that was less widely

History Of Production Logging Into Four Periods
(Ding Z. X. 1992) divided the history of production logging into four periods in which each period is
characterized by new and different tools and interpretation.
The first period (late 1930 to late 1940s): in this period temperature sensors were used to locate fluid
entries in wellbore. The interpretation was qualitative.
Second period (late 1940s to mid 1960s):
Different flowmeter and pressure measurements were added to temperature tools in order to detect
different type of fluid produced or injected. He also argued the objective or applications of production

Such as permeability, litho logy and skin damage. Measuring flow rate and pressure immediately
above a producing zone not only reduces wellbore storage effects but also makes it practical to run
transient tests without shutting in a well and hating production. According to Caivin kessier and (Gray
Frisch, 1998) (1995) in recent years a new generation of well logging tool string developed which is
better than the older type of the tool. This new sensors reports to the full cross sectional area of the
production toolbars (casing, tubing or slotted liner) occupied by gas and liquid. From this response,
the holdup fractions for liquid and gas can be determined. The fullbore measurement eliminates
previous uncertainties in holdup fraction that can occur when flowing conditions are none uniform or
when water cut is high.
Single pass interpretation is the most straightforward but slightest dependable strategy for spinner
interpretation which utilizes a single logging run and depends on a direct spinner reaction to aggregate
stream rate. With this technique, the highest spinner reaction (most importantly holes) is as marked
100% in stream and the least spinner reaction is thought to be in static liquid and in this way is
allocated 0% in stream. Anytime in the middle of, the in flow rate is expected relative to spinner
reaction. Improvement of the multiple array

Devadatta marries Padmini who while appreciating Devadatta, is attracted to Kapila. Both are
confused about their relationship with Padmini. In desperation, Devadatta offers his head to Goddess
Kali; Kapila does the same. In the ghastly situation, as Padmini prepares to kill herself, Kali offers her
a boon. She asks Padmini to attach the heads to the torsos to bring Devadatta and Kapila back to life.
Kali as the Deliberating Shakti, Vimarsha Shakti is the energy of reasoning out and planning the
gradual evolution of the universe (Zimmer 211). But the play describes her as a drowsy and
exasperated Goddess. She is therefore the dual force of action and carries in one hand a sword
symbolic of physical extermination and spiritual decision and in the other bowl that yields abundance
of food (Seetha 194). This paradoxical creative and destructive force is the pivot on which develops
the theme and the action of the play. Goddess Kali who is so indifferent to human concerns exposes
the lie in their supposedly religious actions. The dialogues between Kali and Padmini are ironic. Kali
recalls her earlier days when she used to be awake because her devotees kept her awake with their
deafening racket with drums and conch shells and cymbals (Karnad 141). Criticizing the actions of
Devadatta and Kapila, she recalls their lies and comments for Padmini only she spoke the truth (28).

A Summary Of Bayer Aspirin
As a result of the calculations made above the concentration of the pure ASA in the 10.0mL of NaOH
in mg/mL, based on the Beer s Law plot found in figure 1.0 was 0.0978mg/mL. Presumably, the mass
(in mg) of pure ASA based on the two consecutive dilutions was approximately 97.8 mg this value is
unsuccessfully proven to match the associated theoretical value due to the overall percent yield, which
will be discussed further. Also, according to the same calculations made in calculation #1, the
calculated mass for Bayer Aspirin was inaccurate as the calculated value was less than what was said
by the company. In other words, the Bayer Aspirin did not contain 325mg of ASA, instead it actually
contained 283mg. The percent purity of ASA was calculated to be 65.0 % and based on the reaction
table, the limiting reagent was salicylic acid and manipulations were made with the actual and
theoretical yield which gave an overall percent yield of 53.4%. Furthermore, since this value is less
that 100%, it is considered to be a small percentage yield, this is an indication that the actual yield was
less than the theoretical yield. The reason for such a small value can include the incompletion and/or
loss of sample during each part of the experiment.
Beer s law was involved in the calculations in order to solve for the concentration of the pure ASA
when using the absorbance reading of the prepared ASA in table 3. This method was helpful in terms
of solving for the unknown concentration in

Arkansas s terrain of mountains and deep rivers favored guerrilla actions in the north, and swamps in
the south. The most costly economic factors and the most annoying of all guerrilla strategies were the
suffering of river traffic and confiscation of its cargo. Guerrillas would hold the boats, take the cargo,
and serve as commissaries to the interior. Last, what were the Federal soldiers and Unionist going to
do to stop guerrilla warfare? Because up until the end of the war the United States government were
basically supplying the Confederates and fighting them at the same time. In 1863, the Federals had
released their counter guerrilla campaign. A campaign that would have several regiments of good
troops be raised in Arkansas for a short time to put down guerrillas. The counter guerrilla acts were
successful by reducing the power of Confederate guerrillas. An extensive variety of strategies were
played by Federal forces to defeat irregulars in Arkansas. Arkansas Unionist forces were used as anti
guerrilla troops. Forces which used gunboats to control the waterways throughout rivers, and the head
marshal s military system that spied on alleged guerrillas and imprison those caught. By reinforcing
that system, the Federal army developed an effective force themselves and defended Confederate
raiders strategic targets.

The Religious Freedom Restoration Act
The Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) is a federal law that was set up to protect the free
exercise of religion, as an undeniable right, protected by the First Amendment. Easy enough, right
however, it seems can be interpreted in different ways, some depending on what your beliefs are i.e.,
religious or secular. Such as in the legal case of Burwell (U.S. Secretary of Health and Human
Services) vs. Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby argued that they should not have to pay for contraceptives
for their employees as part of their healthcare because contraceptives such as the emergency
contraception went against their religious beliefs because is an abortifacient.
I went into this with an open mind as I really didn t follow the case at the time and really didn t know
too much about it. I also did really know too much about what RFRA was from a legal point of view.
To help me fully understand I found the syllabus from this case in which part of the first paragraph
says: The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 (RFRA) prohibits the Government [from]
substantially burden [ing] a person s exercise of religion even if the burden results from a rule of
general applicability unless the Government demonstrates that application of the burden to the person
(1) is in furtherance of a compelling government interest; and (2) is the least restrictive means of
furthering that compelling government interest. (Supreme Court Of The United States, 2013). The

CHAP T E R 1 Introduction to Conflict Resolution: Concepts and Definitions In this third edition of
our book we bring the survey of the conflict resolution field up to date at the beginning of the second
decade of the twenty first century. Conflict resolution as a defined specialist field came of age in the
post Cold War era. It also found itself face to face with fundamental new challenges, many of which
have come into even sharper focus since the first and second editions of this book. Why a Third
Edition? The first edition of the book (1999) was written at a time when, despite setbacks, conflict
resolution approaches in peacekeeping, peacemaking and peacebuilding were widely seen for the first
time to be central in global politics in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Institutions to study the field were established, and their number rapidly increased. The field
developed its own subdivisions, with different groups studying international crises, internal wars,
social conflicts and approaches ranging from negotiation and mediation to experimental games. By the
1980s, conflict resolution ideas were increasingly making a difference in real conflicts. In South
Africa, for example, the Centre for Intergroup Studies was applying the approaches that had emerged
in the field to the developing confrontation between apartheid and its challengers, with impressive
results. In the Middle East, a peace process was getting under way in which negotiators on both sides
had gained experience both of each other and of conflict resolution through problem solving
workshops. In Northern Ireland, groups inspired by the new approach had set up community relations
initiatives that were not only reaching across community divides but were also becoming an accepted
responsibility of local government. In war torn regions of Africa and South East Asia, development
workers and humanitarian agencies were seeing the need to take account of conflict and conflict
resolution as an integral part of their activities. By the closing years of the Cold War, the climate for
conflict resolution was changing radically. With relations between the superpowers improving, the
ideological and military competition that had fuelled many regional conflicts was fading away.

Comparative Essay On The American And French Revolutions
3.1 Short Paper: Comparative Essay on the American and French Revolutions
1.) Why does the United States come out its revolution with a republic instead of a monarchy? Why
do the French wind up with an Emperor Napoleon but the United States does not have a King George
of the House of Washington? There are moments in our history where the citizens of the world stand
up and for their beliefs, their honor, and themselves. They come together to reform the existing
government that is holding them back from achieving their desired lifestyle. When this occurs, most
likely, war is inevitable to follow. When war comes to a country, death and destruction is destined.

When that monarchy went against the colonists, and regarded them a part of the empire, this was not
entirely how the colonist s wished to identify themselves. America and its colonists wished to
establish themselves as being independent from a monarchy and to have a say in how they were ruled.
After the revolution was over, Washington went back to Mount Vernon to retire, or so he thought.
When Washington was asked by his fellow founding fathers to become the new King of the United
States, his reaction must have been priceless. After fighting the revolution for many long hard years, to
get away from a monarchy, and now they wanted to create another one. Washington had his reasons
why he did not wish to be king because, He was driven by Ameri can nationalism years before
independence was declared, and for eight long years after 1775 he sacrificed as a soldier to bring the
American na¬tion into being. He emerged from retirement to search for a means of safeguarding a
national Union imperiled by sectionalists and localists, and with considerable misgivings he agreed to
take on the presidency in an attempt to establish an energetic national government and a robust and

Examples Of Timeless Literature And The Chronicles Of A...
The novel Chronicles of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is symbolic of timeless
literature and film. Chronicles of a Death Foretold can be related to the following timeless works:
Julius Caesar a screenplay by William Shakespeare, Pulp Fiction a film by Quentin Tarantino, and The
Bible a religious manifest. Firstly, to understand how the novel Chronicles of a Death Foretold is
symbolic of other timeless works, a person must first understand the story of Chronicles of a Death.
The novel Chronicles of a Death Foretold is a story of adultery, murder, and deceit. Santiago Nasar is

Chronicle of a Death Foretold is comparable to the Shakespearean play Julius Caesar, in that both
Santiago Nasar and Julius Caesar were betrayed and killed by someone they deemed one of their

that, Butch Coolidge betrayed Marcellus Wallace, which is like the whole town in which the novel
Chronicles of a Death Foretold takes place, betraying Santiago Nasar by not warning him of the
impending danger that eventually leads to his murder. Chronicles of a Death Foretold is similar to The
Bible in that both Jesus Christ and Santiago Nasar are the sacrificial lamb, both are killed for the
wrongs of other men, without any sort of concrete evidence against them. As well as both being

Application Virtualization For A Virtual Machine Monitor (...
1. Introduction
Virtualization is a term used to describe technology that uses abstraction to instruct a guest operating
system, data storage, or network device to use underlying shared hardware or software as described by
Pearce et al. [1]. Abstraction is managed at a software layer known as a virtual machine monitor
(VMM) or hypervisor. The VMM or hypervisor emulates hardware to guest operating systems and
applications, which includes core processor unit (CPU), memory, input/output (I/O), and network
traffic [1, pp.2]. There are different areas of virtualization, which include server virtualization,
application virtualization, network virtualization, storage virtualization, and desktop virtualization [1,
pp.8]. The branching out of virtualization into different areas displays the rapid growth of this
technology.
The VMM and hypervisor software layer provides security challenges that should be addressed in
order to protect resources and data within virtualization. For example, this additional layer of
technology opens up new paths which an attacker can use to break into and interrupt a system or
network. The VMM can also be a single point of failure in a virtualized environment [1, pp. 33]. If the
VMM is compromised, then the virtual environment managed by the VMM could be compromised as
well.
The primary focus of this literature review will be physical hosts, which are VMMs and hypervisors
managing a virtualization environment. The Important Ideas section will

The Controversy Of Diaspora
The debate on Diaspora has been an ever going debate that has transformed itself with time. The real
meaning of the term diaspora has with time somewhere now eroded and become a more of an
individual subjective word whose meaning and interjections vary from person to person. The original
word comes from Greek word διασπορά which means scattering, dispersion and which described the
emigration of Greeks to colonise and assimilate a recently conquered territory. Later, the term was
referred to a scattered population whose origin lies within a smaller geographic locale. It is also
referred to the movement of the population from its original homeland. In today s parlance, Diaspora
has come to refer particularly to historical mass dispersions of an involuntary nature, such as the
expulsion of Jews from Judea, the fleeing of Greeks after the fall of Constantinople, the African ...

Such meanings often bring the images of pain, grief, torture, political, social and psychological
pressure on the population undergoing this process of forced migration. But with time, the life
experiences and work of people for whom diaspora is no longer as tragic as it was for the earlier
generations, the word now seems to be in the process of redefinition. This paper gives an optimistic
approach to the redefinition of the word diaspora . It will discuss what are the common viewpoints
shared in the world about Diaspora, what can be the possible other side of the situation(the positive
approach), how is twenty first century diaspora different and finally it will also highlight how a twenty

recognizing its contribution to the fight against poverty, was presented before the 111th congress to
demonstrate the effectiveness of the program through the eyes of legislators. In the resolution, it was
stated that as of February 2010, 175,000 VISTAs have served in communities to implement poverty
prevention programs (Figure 6). Additionally, VISTAs have been behind the successful
implementation of programs such as Credit Unions, Upward Bound, Neighborhood Watch and Head

These numbers are just a snap shot of the types of working being done on these sites, while 10,000
youth engaged, and 21,000 pounds of trash collected may not seem like much they are just examples
of the type s work that was done in 2014. (Healthy futures is a VISTA common core goal.)
(Conservation Legacy, 2014)
Measurements of Success:
The VISTA program is assessed based on several factors including the amount of money raised, the
number of communities served, the number of youth engaged in volunteerism programs, the number
of volunteer hours worked. These measurements of success are not tied directly to the goals of poverty
alleviation, however they are indicative of whether those issues are being addressed because VISTAs
are not able to do direct service, meaning that if money is not raised and volunteers do not show up the
projects will not move (Conservation Legacy, 2014). In 2007, the Office of Management and Budget
ran an assessment on the VISTA program based on the original purpose of the program and its design,
strategic planning, program management, and program results. The scale for the assessment was based
on 0 3 stars. The VISTA program received 1 star designating it as adequate. While the program was
successful in design and management, it underperformed in planning and results (U.S. Office of
Management and Budget and Federal agencies, 2006). Since a more recent study

The Sources of Robert Mugabe s Corruption
As a life of a young boy Robert Mugabe was growing up to hate the British colony that had settled in
Zimbabwe. With the struggle of limited education and certain life styles, Mugabe was left to tend the
family farm and raise money for his family by doing jobs in the town he lived in. After his father
mysteriously disappeared one afternoon, Mugabe was alone with his mother and two siblings to fend
for themselves (Robert Mugabe Biography). No wonder this man hates the British colony that settled,
after they did his life was ruined, or so he thought. Now what used to be a beautiful Zimbabwe was
ruined and destroyed, but not only by the British intruders, but by Mugabe himself. He became
powerful and cruel to all of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is corrupted in many different ways, bribery,
military, prostitution, and even their Prime Minister. Since Mugabe s election in 1980 he has ruled his
people with violence and intimidation. Mugabe has since been the only leader in Zimbabwe. Gold and
Diamonds, Zimbabwe s best natural resources, fueled Mugabe s candidacy with money (Robert
Mugabe Biography). Mugabe wanted to rule his country and have people live like he wanted them
too, but most of all he hated the British colony and all whites in his country. He made it his life goal to
threaten all intruders and whites, an all out genocide. Mugabe s hatred for the whites led him to kill
20,000 civilians thought to have opposed him. In only five years Mugabe had managed to murder

Benefits of Adoption
Adoption is a wonderful and rewarding way to grow a family. When you open your heart and house to
a child through adoption, you make an everlasting commitment. It is an important decision that
requires thought and discussion among the entire family. Adopting a child is without a doubt a life
changing experience that requires patience and dedication. This experience allows families to change a
child s life who one day may have thought that they would never be loved. Parents who adopt from

Ultimately, they learn to be comfortable with themselves. (Child Dev 1984). In conclusion, adopting is
absolutely something to consider. The most important thing to remember is that every child needs a
safe and loving home. Any family who believes that they can provide security, love and safety to a
child in need should consider taking this role. It is an unforgettable, life changing experience not only
for the parent but for the child as well. Parents have the opportunity to provide that child a normal life
which would otherwise be missing. Some researchers say that adopted children who were once in a
foster care tend to misbehave or act a certain way in order to create a feeling of rejection, anger, pain
and abandonment in their parents. This testing behavior may actually indicate that the child feels
comfortable enough with the parent to communicate his or her own true feelings. (Welf Info Gateway
2012). This is a positive reaction which only solidifies the strong bond that parents will be able to
attain with the new member of the family. The benefits of adopting are endless, and will only gain
love in a child s heart. Parents will absolutely bring tremendous joy to that child s life. One thing is
true, and this is that no one will ever know unless they experience this. References

Hamlet s Idealism Essay
Hamlet s Idealism
Hamlet is many things: scholar, speaker, actor, and prince. His greatness shows in all of activities,
save one: his inability to act. Hamlet is not able to avenge his father s death without considerable
delay. There is a flaw in Hamlet s character that causes him to postpone the murder of Claudius this
flaw is Hamlet s idealism. While idealism is normally a good trait, in this case, because of the unusual
circumstances, Hamlet s idealism causes great conflicts within him.
He was gifted with a great mind which he uses extensively. Hamlet believes that things should be
inherently good, and that people s motives should be fair. Consequently, he has a great deal of

Hence, his morals guide him to be absolutely sure of his uncle s guilt, and not have a hasty,
emotionally based reaction.
Another main reason for Hamlet s delay once again has to do with his morals and idealism. Because
he possesses such a strong mind, he can find many possible causes and effects for everyday affairs.
When dealing with affairs far from ordinary, such as his father s murder, ... the native hue of resolution
is sicklied o er with the pale cast of thought... (Act III sc i).
I suggest also that perhaps Hamlet is not able to truly understand people s evil motives, due to his own
idealistic nature. It would follow, then, that he would have great difficulty in committing an act of
such brutal violence himself. The action which Hamlet has been commanded by the ghost to undertake
goes against Hamlet in a very basic, fundamental way. The fact that Hamlet is a thinking as well as a
feeling person, conscious of the good and bad points in every step he takes, makes the act of revenge
particularly painful for him. Revenge is not Christian, and Hamlet is a Christian Prince; it is not
rational, and Hamlet is a philosopher; it is not gentle, and Hamlet is a gentlemen (Boklund 113).
In the end, however, it is not Hamlet s sense of right and wrong that charges him to vengeance; rather,
his uncle s death occurs in a heat of passion. While he does recognize that

To me, theatre is a solar eclipse. Everyone knows about it. There are pictures and videos all attempting

Personal Leadership Reflection
With a million ideas racing continuously over and over in my head, once again like many times
before, my struggle would present itself of not being able to write those ideas down on paper. Years of
nursing experience, and more recently managing the nursing informatics department, carrying out
ideas that would advance the flow of information and improve processes came so easy for me; yet it
was so difficult to present this in writing to the leadership group in our facility. To confidently
complete a walk through in each department in our hospital with the leadership, verbalizing the
changes that would take place was second nature for me. This walk through demonstrated how the
changes would improve not only the flow of information but also bridge each department to function
in unity. Understanding what needed to take place and following through bringing about positive
changes I was comfortable in performing, however, expressing this in written format was something I
needed to development considering my position as manager of my department. To receive approval on

The Effects Of Smoking During Breastfeeding On Children
Smoking during breastfeeding affects a lot to the health of your baby as the smoke favors the
occurrence of respiratory diseases and increases the risk of sudden death.
During pregnancy, often you hear how harmful smoking is to the development of your baby.
Premature birth, low birth weight, and disorders in their respiratory system are just some of the
negative effects. Once your child is born and the process of breastfeeding starts, this article will help
you immensely with its recommendations and advice.
A Danish study showed that mothers who smoke may be diminished in their transportation capacity of
iodine, which can affect the breastfed baby. During the breastfeeding, the infant s thyroid function
depends on the amount of iodine in the breast milk, which is why smoking predisposes the presence of
problems in the brain development of children. It is also a known fact that smoking reduces the body s
ability to absorb some vitamins and minerals.
Given this scenario, many smoking mothers who were unable to quit smoking during pregnancy,
choose not to breastfeed their babies due to psychological factors or social pressures. Some of them
initiate breastfeeding but then interrupt find physiological problems related to smoke.
Other mothers who stopped smoking during pregnancy choose to resume smoking because they
cannot handle addiction and believe they should not smoke and breastfeed.
However these options choose the alternative that the mother should always be

Similarities Between Machiavelli And Hobbes
Machiavelli on Human Nature
Niccolo Machiavelli and Thomas Hobbes were two modern political theorists who presented new
ideas about political organization in the 16th and 17th century. While Machiavelli focused his written
works on ideas related to effective governance, Hobbes attempts to explain the necessity of
establishing a ruler to maintain peace and stability. Although Niccolo Machiavelli and Thomas Hobbes
focused on different aspects of political theory, both thinkers addressed the concept of human nature in
their written works. Their ideas are reliant on the assumption that all humans have an inherently bad
nature. Although the two political theorists agree that humans are inherently inclined to prioritize their
self interests, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, he suggests that humans have a tendency to take action whenever they think it will result in a
personal gain or help them get closer to achieving another self interest. Both Machiavelli and Hobbes
believe that humans tend to take actions that they believe will benefit themselves in some way.
Although Machiavelli and Hobbes agree on the basic motivation of human nature, their
understandings of human nature conflict when considering the consistency of these qualities in a
variety of situations. Niccolo Machiavelli would argue that humans consistently act out in selfish and
immoral ways. In order to support this idea, Machiavelli uses history to demonstrate patterns in human
behavior, actions, and motivations. For instance, in The Prince, Machiavelli uses the example of
Cesare Borgia and other historical rulers to show that human behavior is consistent and that even
virtuous leaders have had to take self interested actions to control their citizens. To Machiavelli, all
humans are born with this self interest.
On the other hand, in The Essential Leviathan, Hobbes suggests that human nature is variable based
on different situation. Although it may seem that Hobbes has an entirely negative perception of human
nature, the 17th century writer also argues that humans may not have an inherently bad nature, but that

King Aspelta Analysis
The Colossal Statue of King Aspelta appears to be especially influenced by the statue design of Old
Kingdom Egypt, despite being a Kushite work from the Nubian region produced between the years of
593 and 568 BC. Due to the larger than life size of Aspelta, the eye is initially drawn to the pectoral
and abdominal region of the body. This portion of the statue is especially idealized as the pectorals are
toned and the abdomen is similarly muscular. Furthermore, there is no indication of any weakness or
fat, which would be typical of the average human being. Even in the absence of the work s title, this
makes it evident that subject was in a position of power and wish to be seen as an ideal and powerful
portion. The arms are large, yet not well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mentuemhet was a mayor and prophet from the city of Amen responsible for the reconstruction of
temples that had been destroyed by invading Assyrians. The statue itself is quite similar that of King
Aspelta in terms of form. For example, the Mentuemhet is also shown to have an idealized body yet
individualized face in the same way as King Aspelta. Furthermore, Mentuemhet is posed in the
characteristic left foot forward stance of Old Kingdom Egypt. Likewise, the respective statues wear
the same attire, a skirt with the same designs. This also appears to be a nod to the Old Kingdom Egypt
as the same piece of clothing can be viewed on statues of leaders from this period, like Menkaure.
Also, both are high reliefs in the sense that the figures are not liberated from the granite stone, though
their standing depiction gives the illusion that they are free standing statues when viewed from the
front. However, the free standing illusion provides both with a sense of permanence and longevity of
statue which hints toward the timeless aspect of Egyptian statues due to their concept of the

  • 2. Peter Kirkpatrick s Suburban Moment Peter Kirkpatrick s poem Suburban Moment, 2 a.m. is a poem told in first person by the narrator or persona which Kirkpatrick has created. It is structured as a 14 line sonnet with eight lines in the first stanza and six lines in the second stanza. In the poem, Kirkpatrick presents a persona/narrator, suggestively himself, who, during the middle of the night (at 2 a.m. as the title suggests) has an extensive case of writer s block and is determined not to let sleep tempt him until his poem is complete. The language used, along with the sentence structure of the poem, suggests a stuck and frustrated tone and situation. There are three particular lines which seem to be quite effective within this poem. These lines are: 1. No moon. No clouds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This grammatical feature allows for the writer to explain, and the reader to comprehend, the time at which the action of the verb takes place. It should be explained to the students the importance of verb tenses. In particular, the aspect that these three tenses tell the time of a verb s action. In line with this, it is also important for children to be given a definition for each of the tenses. For example: a past verb tense (simple) shows that the action had occurred in the past, or the time leading up to now; a present verb tense (simple) shows an action that is happening at that moment in time, or is reoccurring regularly; and a future verb tense (simple) shows an action that will happen in the future, and have not taken place yet. In simple verb tenses, past tense is generally recognised by words such as was , has/have , and words with an ed ending (e.g. I was talking , I have talked , I talked ); present tense can be recognised by words such as is , am , are , and verbs ending in an s or ing (e.g. He is talking , I am talking , We are talking , He talks ); future tense is normally recognised through the use of the word will (e.g. I will ... One of the reasons is that farming has been taken over by mega corporations whose harvest is not intended to feed the local population, but instead to feed other parts of the world. The environment pays a big price for this, as these corporations do not find it important to put aside some funds to take care of it. This has caused people like Mr. Wendell Berry to speak out. As he puts it, we need people who see the problem and go right at it without waiting for the government permission or any form of official advice. Otherwise, a big part of the planet is going to be uninhabitable in the coming years. For believers, especially, this is something that God asks us to do. These boarding schools were run by the United States government. The government s goal was to civilize Native Americans. They sent children to these schools against their will. Native American children were educated like Americans and they had to change their native ways to be more like whites (Cayton 266). Teachers abused their students and beat their native ways out of them. They were not allowed to see their families so they would try to escape, but their attempts were unsuccessful. Crazy Horse was brutally murdered and the Sioux surrendered ( Battle ). In 1890 the government learned that the Native Americans were doing the Ghost Dance (Cayton 265). The Ghost Dance was a ritual in which people join hands and twirled in a circle (Cayton 265). When the government saw the Ghost Dance, they thought the Native Americans were crazy and trying to rebel, so they tried to arrest Sitting Bull (Cayton 265). In this conflict that came to be known as the Battle of Wounded Knee, soldiers killed Sitting Bull, 120 men, and 230 women and children (Cayton 265). These battles pushed Native Americans onto reservations and took away their basic human rights. Early Native American schooling was taught in tribes. Tribes would teach their children healing arts and specialized crafts like making shell money (Nash 173). Tribes used legends as a form of education a long time ago (Fixico 41). These stories would teach important lessons like how to live in balance with nature. Many tribes would make day schools to educate children on tribal sovereignty (Ellis). In the 1840s, the Cherokees formed a system of public schools (Perdue 64). Education in tribes was an important right of the Native Americans. The main goal of boarding schools was to civilize Native Americans. Webster s Dictionary defines the word wise as being marked by deep understanding, keen discerment . Through the telling of the ancient Mariner s tale, the Wedding Guest became sadder and wiser. In this day and age, people log on and surf the web without a second thought, and often take the freedoms of the Internet for granted. One of the most valuable things about the Internet is that it s open and equal. Anyone can access or create new websites, and as of now, each website is treated the same. Unfortunately, this freedom is being threatened and the Internet as we know it could change for good. This new policy would introduce hurt more then it would help. Institutions like public libraries, schools and other places that offer Wi Fi for use would have to pay tremendous costs. Schools, for example, are having a hard enough time obtaining the funding for materials like school supplies or for qualified teachers, and to add the cost of individual websites that students need access to is unfair and in some schools, impossible. This proposal would also allow ISP s to block certain websites all together. For example, Verizon could block Google completely, forcing their customers to pay for the Verizon search engine. Not only would it add extra costs to your internet bill, but it would also create a tiered internet. This means that not only would customers have to pay for certain websites, but those same costly sites would have to pay the ISPs as well. A tiered internet means that a few websites would get high speed priority and be favored over other sites. To be placed in these high speed tiers, the websites would have to pay huge amounts of money to the ISPs. Why should the Internet Service Providers have full, unrestricted access to control everything that goes on online? A tiered Internet would effect everyone, and not always in a good way. If you are an avid Netflix user, and are constantly watching shows, then the fact that their Internet service speed was lightning fast would be enjoyable. According to Caivin kessier and (Gray Frisch, 1998) (1995) in recent years a new generation of well logging tool string developed which is better than the older type of the tool. This new sensors reports to the full cross sectional area of the production toolbars (casing, tubing or slotted liner) occupied by gas and liquid. From this response, the holdup fractions for liquid and gas can be determined. The fullbore measurement eliminates previous uncertainties in holdup fraction that can occur when flowing conditions are none uniform or when water cut is high. Single pass interpretation is the most straightforward but slightest dependable strategy for spinner interpretation which utilizes a single logging run and depends on a direct spinner reaction to aggregate stream rate. With this technique, the highest spinner reaction (most importantly holes) is as marked 100% in stream and the least spinner reaction is thought to be in static liquid and in this way is allocated 0% in stream. Devadatta marries Padmini who while appreciating Devadatta, is attracted to Kapila. Both are confused about their relationship with Padmini. In desperation, Devadatta offers his head to Goddess Kali; Kapila does the same. In the ghastly situation, as Padmini prepares to kill herself, Kali offers her a boon. She asks Padmini to attach the heads to the torsos to bring Devadatta and Kapila back to life. Kali as the Deliberating Shakti, Vimarsha Shakti is the energy of reasoning out and planning the gradual evolution of the universe (Zimmer 211). But the play describes her as a drowsy and exasperated Goddess. She is therefore the dual force of action and carries in one hand a sword symbolic of physical extermination and spiritual decision and in the other bowl that yields abundance of food (Seetha 194). This paradoxical creative and destructive force is the pivot on which develops the theme and the action of the play. Goddess Kali who is so indifferent to human concerns exposes the lie in their supposedly religious actions. The dialogues between Kali and Padmini are ironic. Kali recalls her earlier days when she used to be awake because her devotees kept her awake with their deafening racket with drums and conch shells and cymbals (Karnad 141). • 10. A Summary Of Bayer Aspirin As a result of the calculations made above the concentration of the pure ASA in the 10.0mL of NaOH in mg/mL, based on the Beer s Law plot found in figure 1.0 was 0.0978mg/mL. Presumably, the mass (in mg) of pure ASA based on the two consecutive dilutions was approximately 97.8 mg this value is unsuccessfully proven to match the associated theoretical value due to the overall percent yield, which will be discussed further. Also, according to the same calculations made in calculation #1, the calculated mass for Bayer Aspirin was inaccurate as the calculated value was less than what was said by the company. In other words, the Bayer Aspirin did not contain 325mg of ASA, instead it actually contained 283mg. The percent purity of ASA was calculated to be 65.0 % and based on the reaction table, the limiting reagent was salicylic acid and manipulations were made with the actual and theoretical yield which gave an overall percent yield of 53.4%. Furthermore, since this value is less that 100%, it is considered to be a small percentage yield, this is an indication that the actual yield was less than the theoretical yield. The reason for such a small value can include the incompletion and/or loss of sample during each part of the experiment. Beer s law was involved in the calculations in order to solve for the concentration of the pure ASA when using the absorbance reading of the prepared ASA in table 3. This method was helpful in terms of solving for the unknown concentration in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because up until the end of the war the United States government were basically supplying the Confederates and fighting them at the same time. In 1863, the Federals had released their counter guerrilla campaign. A campaign that would have several regiments of good troops be raised in Arkansas for a short time to put down guerrillas. The counter guerrilla acts were successful by reducing the power of Confederate guerrillas. An extensive variety of strategies were played by Federal forces to defeat irregulars in Arkansas. Arkansas Unionist forces were used as anti guerrilla troops. In South Africa, for example, the Centre for Intergroup Studies was applying the approaches that had emerged in the field to the developing confrontation between apartheid and its challengers, with impressive results. In the Middle East, a peace process was getting under way in which negotiators on both sides had gained experience both of each other and of conflict resolution through problem solving workshops. In Northern Ireland, groups inspired by the new approach had set up community relations initiatives that were not only reaching across community divides but were also becoming an accepted responsibility of local government. In war torn regions of Africa and South East Asia, development workers and humanitarian agencies were seeing the need to take account of conflict and conflict resolution as an integral part of their activities. • 23. Application Virtualization For A Virtual Machine Monitor (... 1. Introduction Virtualization is a term used to describe technology that uses abstraction to instruct a guest operating system, data storage, or network device to use underlying shared hardware or software as described by Pearce et al. [1]. Abstraction is managed at a software layer known as a virtual machine monitor (VMM) or hypervisor. The VMM or hypervisor emulates hardware to guest operating systems and applications, which includes core processor unit (CPU), memory, input/output (I/O), and network traffic [1, pp.2]. There are different areas of virtualization, which include server virtualization, application virtualization, network virtualization, storage virtualization, and desktop virtualization [1, pp.8]. The branching out of virtualization into different areas displays the rapid growth of this technology. The VMM and hypervisor software layer provides security challenges that should be addressed in order to protect resources and data within virtualization. For example, this additional layer of technology opens up new paths which an attacker can use to break into and interrupt a system or network. The VMM can also be a single point of failure in a virtualized environment [1, pp. 33]. If the VMM is compromised, then the virtual environment managed by the VMM could be compromised as well. The primary focus of this literature review will be physical hosts, which are VMMs and hypervisors managing a virtualization environment. The Important Ideas section will ... It is an unforgettable, life changing experience not only for the parent but for the child as well. Parents have the opportunity to provide that child a normal life which would otherwise be missing. Some researchers say that adopted children who were once in a foster care tend to misbehave or act a certain way in order to create a feeling of rejection, anger, pain and abandonment in their parents. This testing behavior may actually indicate that the child feels comfortable enough with the parent to communicate his or her own true feelings. (Welf Info Gateway 2012). This is a positive reaction which only solidifies the strong bond that parents will be able to attain with the new member of the family. The benefits of adopting are endless, and will only gain love in a child s heart. Parents will absolutely bring tremendous joy to that child s life. One thing is true, and this is that no one will ever know unless they experience this. Analysis Of A Worn Path By Eudora Welty A real parent is someone who puts that child above their own selfish needs and wants Parents are customarily seen as willing to do anything and everything for their children s safety and health. Their perpetual love for their offspring allows them to willingly put themselves in any situation, if it benefits their children. This powerful love also extends greatly to grandparents. Hamlet is not able to avenge his father s death without considerable delay. There is a flaw in Hamlet s character that causes him to postpone the murder of Claudius this flaw is Hamlet s idealism. While idealism is normally a good trait, in this case, because of the unusual circumstances, Hamlet s idealism causes great conflicts within him. Hence, his morals guide him to be absolutely sure of his uncle s guilt, and not have a hasty, emotionally based reaction. Another main reason for Hamlet s delay once again has to do with his morals and idealism. Because he possesses such a strong mind, he can find many possible causes and effects for everyday affairs. When dealing with affairs far from ordinary, such as his father s murder, ... the native hue of resolution is sicklied o er with the pale cast of thought... (Act III sc i). I suggest also that perhaps Hamlet is not able to truly understand people s evil motives, due to his own idealistic nature. It would follow, then, that he would have great difficulty in committing an act of such brutal violence himself. The action which Hamlet has been commanded by the ghost to undertake goes against Hamlet in a very basic, fundamental way. The fact that Hamlet is a thinking as well as a feeling person, conscious of the good and bad points in every step he takes, makes the act of revenge particularly painful for him. Revenge is not Christian, and Hamlet is a Christian Prince; it is not rational, and Hamlet is a philosopher; it is not gentle, and Hamlet is a gentlemen (Boklund 113). In the end, however, it is not Hamlet s sense of right and wrong that charges him to vengeance; rather, his uncle s death occurs in a heat of passion. While he does recognize that ... But, when all s said and done, it must be experienced. A recording of a solar eclipse, just like a recording of a show, can never encapsulate the wonder from experiencing it in person. Personal Leadership Reflection With a million ideas racing continuously over and over in my head, once again like many times before, my struggle would present itself of not being able to write those ideas down on paper. Years of nursing experience, and more recently managing the nursing informatics department, carrying out ideas that would advance the flow of information and improve processes came so easy for me; yet it was so difficult to present this in writing to the leadership group in our facility. To confidently complete a walk through in each department in our hospital with the leadership, verbalizing the changes that would take place was second nature for me. This walk through demonstrated how the changes would improve not only the flow of information but also bridge each department to function in unity. Understanding what needed to take place and following through bringing about positive changes I was comfortable in performing, however, expressing this in written format was something I needed to development considering my position as manager of my department. To receive approval on any request for change, we were required to write our proposal as a professional improvement (PI) project. Similarities Between Machiavelli And Hobbes Machiavelli on Human Nature Niccolo Machiavelli and Thomas Hobbes were two modern political theorists who presented new ideas about political organization in the 16th and 17th century. While Machiavelli focused his written works on ideas related to effective governance, Hobbes attempts to explain the necessity of establishing a ruler to maintain peace and stability. Although Niccolo Machiavelli and Thomas Hobbes focused on different aspects of political theory, both thinkers addressed the concept of human nature in their written works. Their ideas are reliant on the assumption that all humans have an inherently bad nature. Here, he suggests that humans have a tendency to take action whenever they think it will result in a personal gain or help them get closer to achieving another self interest. Both Machiavelli and Hobbes believe that humans tend to take actions that they believe will benefit themselves in some way. Although Machiavelli and Hobbes agree on the basic motivation of human nature, their understandings of human nature conflict when considering the consistency of these qualities in a variety of situations. Niccolo Machiavelli would argue that humans consistently act out in selfish and immoral ways. In order to support this idea, Machiavelli uses history to demonstrate patterns in human behavior, actions, and motivations. For instance, in The Prince, Machiavelli uses the example of Cesare Borgia and other historical rulers to show that human behavior is consistent and that even virtuous leaders have had to take self interested actions to control their citizens. To Machiavelli, all humans are born with this self interest. On the other hand, in The Essential Leviathan, Hobbes suggests that human nature is variable based on different situation. Although it may seem that Hobbes has an entirely negative perception of human nature, the 17th century writer also argues that humans may not have an inherently bad nature, but that it is ... King Aspelta Analysis The Colossal Statue of King Aspelta appears to be especially influenced by the statue design of Old Kingdom Egypt, despite being a Kushite work from the Nubian region produced between the years of 593 and 568 BC. Due to the larger than life size of Aspelta, the eye is initially drawn to the pectoral and abdominal region of the body. This portion of the statue is especially idealized as the pectorals are toned and the abdomen is similarly muscular. Furthermore, there is no indication of any weakness or fat, which would be typical of the average human being. Even in the absence of the work s title, this makes it evident that subject was in a position of power and wish to be seen as an ideal and powerful portion. The arms are large, yet not well ... Furthermore, Mentuemhet is posed in the characteristic left foot forward stance of Old Kingdom Egypt. Likewise, the respective statues wear the same attire, a skirt with the same designs. This also appears to be a nod to the Old Kingdom Egypt as the same piece of clothing can be viewed on statues of leaders from this period, like Menkaure. Also, both are high reliefs in the sense that the figures are not liberated from the granite stone, though their standing depiction gives the illusion that they are free standing statues when viewed from the front.
