Mary Shelley s Life
Mary Shelley s Life/Inspirations of Frankenstein Can you guess who was born during the 8th year of
the French Revolution? It was a beautiful young women borned as Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin.
Mary was born on August 30, 1797 in London, England. Mary was the child of Mary Wollstonecraft
and William Godwin. She was later married to a man named Percy Bysshe Shelley. Mary s parents
were both writers which inspired her to later on in her life to write horror novels. Mary Shelley, the
famous author of Frankenstein , used the experience of her hardships in life to create gothic and
memorable novels that still can be appreciated by today s readers. If I was to describe Mary with one
word it would be misfortunate. Ever since birth she has been facing problems after problems. Two
weeks after birth, Mary s mother, Mary Wollstonecraft past away due to a severe fever. Mary
Wollstonecraft was a pioneer in feminist thinking and writing. She was influenced by Thomas Paine
that all women should have equal rights. When Wollstonecraft was younger she witnessed her mom
being verbally and physically abused by her father. Her father referred to her mother as a piece of
property who cannot have the same future as him due to her sex. After her mother s death,
Wollstonecraft decided to make her own livelihood with her sister Eliza and her best friend Fanny.
When Wollstonecraft was 28, she wrote a semi autobiographical novel called Maria which was later
became very famous in London.

Write An Essay On Opiates
Opiates are a class of medications that are supposed to help relieve pain. When used correctly, they
prevent pain signals from reaching the brain. Unfortunately, opiates can become addictive over time.
Once someone is addicted, one of the first questions they ask is, How long do opiates stay in your
system? The answer to this question depends on the individual, the severity of their addiction and the
length of their addiction.
How Long Do Opiates Stay in Your System After Using Them?
An estimated 26.4 to 36 million people in the world are believed to abuse opiates. In general, opiates
have a short half life. This means that the chemicals leave the body fairly quickly. Depending on the
type of opiate, it can take a few hours or longer for the chemical to leave the body.

Musical Analysis Of Songs Without Words
Musical Analysis of Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 3 by Felix Mendelssohn Felix Mendelssohn
composed Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 3 during the Romantic Period. It is known as a hunting
song. The form of this song can be categorized as a rondo. This can be argued because the A theme
that begins at measure 5 reappears throughout the song about two times. It comes back at measures 50
and 83. In between these A sections are a B section and a C section. The B section starts in measure 29
and the C section starts at measure 67. Measures 1 5 are a short introduction. The A section begins at
the fourth beat of measure 5 and is in A major. The A section ends in a half cadence, which is an E
major chord. The B section, which starts on the fourth beat of measure 29, is in C sharp natural minor.
This is the relative minor of E major, which was the final chord of the first A section. At measure 49,
there is a modulation back to A major which leads into a second A section beginning at measure 50.
However, this A section is different mainly because the melody appears in the left hand and the section
ends in an imperfect authentic cadence instead of a half cadence. This cadence is at the downbeat of
measure 67, and there is no modulation to E major this time. The C section begins at measure 67 and
is in A major. This section acts more as a transitional section that leads into a new statement of the
main theme at measure 83. The final A section restates the main theme one last

Theme Of The Poem 1958 By Gwendolyn Mcewen
In the poem 1958, Gwendolyn MacEwen describes the high school environment as it would have been
in the late 1950 s. Popular fads among the teenagers during this era are explored in detail. The
prevailing theme throughout the text pertains to the idea of belonging. The poem focuses primarily on
the desire teenagers have to fit in. Throughout this response I will explore the ways in which this
poem differs and relates to the high school environment today. Secondly I will analyze the connections
between this poem and a modern day movie. Lastly, I will express the ways in which my personal
experiences relate to the central message in the poem. Several elements of the high school
environment during the late 1950 s still exist today. The author mentions that, those guys spoke in
crazy cryptic monosyllables . This statement is still relevant today; however teenage boys now speak
in a form of speech referred to as gangster slang . Typical words include sup or peace which are used
to express phrases such as how are you? or see you later. In the poem McEwen says that, those girls
said nothing and were mean and cracked gum . Mean girls still continue to grace the school hallways
glaring at those more vulnerable. These girls tend to be the masterminds behind vicious rumours that
spread like wildfire throughout the school. McEwen mentions that the boys learned shop and the girls
sewed shaky seams in the dresses they would never wear. This statement

Marfan Syndrome Research Paper
In the lab, we looked in the microscope at many different types of tissues such as epithelial,
connective, and muscle. Within connective tissues, there are many tissue disorders that can affect your
muscles, joints, or skin also your organs and organ systems. One connective tissue disease that I found
was Marfan syndrome. Marfan syndrome is an inherited disorder that affects the connective tissue.
Marfan syndrome affects about 1 in every 5000 people. People that have marfan syndrome usually
have trouble with their eyes, heart, skeleton, and blood vessels. They are also known to have very long
and unproportioned arms and legs and long spider like fingers and toes. They can also have crowded
teeth, sunken or bulging chest, flat feet, scoliosis, and many other different problems. These are just

The main issue is the aorta which is the main artery can increasingly enlarge and lead to a dissection
which is when the aorta erupts and that can lead to death. About forty percent of people with marfan
syndrome that have an aorta that erupts will die immediately. Even if you have surgery after the aorta
dissects there is a ten to twenty percent chance you could die. Most people with this disorder should
check that their aorta is not rapidly or increasingly growing. The normal size for an aorta is about an
inch, if it gets bigger than 4.7 centimeters, then it would be a good idea to get surgery. Luckily, most
people that have to have a non emergency surgery have a 98% or greater chance of success. There are
usually two types of surgery they can do to replace the aorta. The first one is the traditional method
which is where they replace the aorta and put in graft and replace the aorta valve with a mechanical
valve or the valve sparing method where the replace the aorta with a tube graft and re implant the
original valve. Surgery is very necessary for people with enlarged

Essay On Muscle Injury
You often hear about athletes who are unable to play their sport due to a pulled hamstring. In fact, a
pulled hamstring is one of the most common muscle pulls or muscle injury. Your hamstrings are a
group of three muscles that help extend your legs at the hip and flex them at the knee. A pulled
hamstring is a strain or tear in the muscles or tendons.
To understand what causes a hamstring injury you have to know how muscles work. All muscles work
in pairs to perform a task. One set of muscles contracts to exert force while the other set of muscles
relaxes. The hamstring muscles located at the back of the thigh, work with the quadriceps muscle
group in the front of the thigh. When you want to bend your leg, the hamstring muscles contract and
the quadriceps muscles relax. Conversely, when you want to straighten your leg, the quadriceps
muscles contract and the hamstring muscles relax. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This frequently happens with the hamstring muscles. The quadriceps muscles are usually much more
powerful, so the hamstring can become fatigued faster. A fatigued muscle cannot relax as easily when
its opposing muscle contracts, leading to strains.
Muscle strains are overuse injuries that result when the muscle is stretched without being properly
warmed up. An injury to the hamstring is usually readily apparent. Mild strains may involve simple,
uncomfortable tightening of the muscle. More severe injuries may result in a sharp pain in the back of
the thigh, usually in full stride. A rupture or tear may leave you unable to stand or walk, muscles may
be tender to the touch and painful to stretch your leg. Within a few days after a tear the area may
appear very bruised.
Remember RICE and you will know the immediate treatment protocol for many sports related
injuries, including hamstring pulls or

competent you are for the job. One important thing he emphasized on was to be confident in yourself
when speaking to the clients. He gave us an example on the two different ways to approach people,
one with intimidation and the other with assertiveness. These examples showed the impact people can
make to their audience by how they carry themselves. I personally found this helpful because I feel
that I lack confidence when I speak to people and him pointing that out made me realized I need to

Scope And Implementation Of A Vm Program
Introduction [RELATIVE TO AUDIENCE] Scope and Implementation In order to implement a VM
program an organization must assign responsibilities to perform patching and vulnerability
management. For the purposes of this document it shall be referred to as the patch and vulnerability
management group (PVG). This group may be a separate entity or the responsibilities may be a subset
of an IT operations or services team. There may be several PVG s within an organization, central
coordination of these groups directly or indirectly must be implemented. Automate Patching As much
as possible, the burden of implementing and testing remediations should be shifted from local
administrators to the PVG. This should save money by eliminating duplication of effort (e.g., multiple
system administrators testing the same patch on similar computers) and by enabling automated
solutions, thereby avoiding costly manual installations. The easiest way to accomplish this is by
implementing enterprise patching solutions that allow the PVG, or a group they work closely with, to
automatically push patches out to many computers quickly. Harden Systems and Standardize
Configurations For the PVG to be able to adequately test automatically deployed patches,
organizations should use standardized configurations for IT devices (e.g., desktop computers, routers,
firewalls, servers) as much as possible. Enterprise patch management tools will be ineffective if
deployed in an environment where every IT

Summary Of Agony And Ecstasy, By Lala Brooks
receive any royalties until after Spector s arrest for murder nearly 50 years later (The Villager). This
relates and can be interpreted from the lyrics in Uptown, And he takes all they got to give. LaLa
Brooks, one of the former group members of the Crystals quintet, expresses her frustration and
experience in working with Phil Spector. LaLa Brooks emotionally speaks in responding to the Agony
and Ecstasy of Phil Spector, movie published in the time of Spector s arrest, I held back tears the first
time. It was hard to see and not feel emotionally mixed up, wanting to care about him, and then when

This demonstrates and embodies how Phil Spector, the producer and creator of the Wall of Sound,
held power over the Crystals. It is said that in producing the song, Spector chose specific instruments
so that he could layer them in a way that would overshadow the voices...that just stopped short of
being busy. When listening to the track, Uptown, one is able to notice that the Crystals seem to be
trying to sing over the musical instrumentations. After the production of Uptown, a former Crystal
member mentioned that Spector would barely let them take part in the production process. Dee Dee
Kennibrew states, From Uptown on he would bring in tracks, not finished, but enough for you to put
your own part down, so he would do everything in segments, so I could not tell you how or what he
kept of ours (History of Rock). Their success was dimmed by Phil Spector. He expressed that in
producing music, he was focusing on the sound, I was looking for a sound, a sound so strong that if
the material was not the greatest, the sound would carry the record (Wikipedia). His goal was to make
little symphonies for the kids , rather than genuinely caring for the success of his artists. As LaLa
Brooks said, He thought so much of himself that he didn t want any of his artists to be recognized

Elegant Viola Instrument Report
The elegant Viola
For this instrument report I will be expanding on my favorite instrument, which is the viola. I decided
to pick this particular instrument because I truly enjoy the harmonic, lively and mysterious melodies it
produces when it is being played. Additionally, when the viola is played along with other instruments
its musical ranges complements the songs because it can alter between Soprano and Bass. Even
though it usually does not have solo music composed for it the viola is a string instrument that with its
elegant harmony can powerfully bring a deep and rhythmic tone to an orchestra performance. Another
reason I chose the viola was because I briefly played it in middle school from 7th until 8th grade and

A Day Of Celebration And Honor
The setting was January 1937. Nazism was escalating and there were whispers of another Great War
on the horizon. The Dutch people were holding on to the hope that their neutrality would be honored
as it was after the last Great War . Although, this was not to be the case, this day was a day of
celebration and honor. The ten Booms were a well respected family that lived in the Dutch city of
Haarlem, as their fathers had before them. The family operated a small watch shop from the first floor
of their home on Bartheljorisstraat Street. Their home, known locally as the Beje, had been in their
family for generations. The family had gathered to celebrate the hundred year anniversary of opening
the watch shop. This was a great day to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the ten Booms residence it would never have crossed their minds as to whether they should open
their doors to ones in need. Even before the war, the family had raised eleven foster children in a
Christian home with morals, values and integrity (21). As it was to unfold, the ten Booms became
increasingly involved in the underground movement in an attempt to save Jews from Hitler s cruel
eugenics movement. Pickwick assisted the ten Booms to find places of hiding from the Nazi death
camps, food cards to sustain them, and aided in the set up of alarms and security around the house.
The ten Booms didn t begrudge the Jews their religion, though different from their own. They
embraced it and merely did the right thing. However, on February 28, 1944, the ten Boom family was
betrayed and the Beje was raided. The six people in hiding were able to escape into the upstairs hiding
space in time due to all of the practice drills, alarms and such to ensure their safety. However, the ten
Boom family members were caught and taken in for interrogation by the Nazis. Corrie, Casper,
Willem, Betsie, Nollie, and her husband Peter van Woerden were then imprisoned during this Gestapo
raid on the Beje. The six family members were transferred from the Haarlem jail to the Scheveningen
prison. From there, Corrie and Betsie are transported by train to the Vught Concentration Camp. On

Job analysis is often referred to as the corner stone of HR activities because almost every HR
management process includes some type of information gathered from job analysis. Job analysis
provides knowledge for the following HR processes: work re design, workforce planning, selection,
training and development, performance management, career planning, and job evaluation (Steen, Noe,
Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright, 2013, p.66 67). The information job analysis provides, acts as the
building blocks to these HR activities, thus bringing an understanding to job analysis being referred to
as the corner stone .

CHEMICAL QUANTITIES
Aim:
To calculate the concentration of acetic acid in vinegar, CH3COOH via titration methods.
Apparatus:
0.100 M standard solution of sodium hydroxide (NaOH)
Household vinegar (CH3COOH)
Phenolphthalein indicator
Distilled water
200ml volumetric flask
250 ml conical flask
20ml volumetric pipette

Method:
Before the commencement of the practical, all necessary glassware and measurement tools were
rinsed appropriately. The pipette was rinsed three times with vinegar solution, whereas the volumetric
flask was rinsed three times with distilled water. 20mL of the vinegar solution was measured and
transferred to the volumetric flask, where it was diluted with distilled water by filling the flask to the
200mL graduation line. A 20ml aliquot of the aforementioned solution was extracted from the
volumetric flask via the volumetric pipette and subsequently transferred to the conical flask. Three
drops of phenolphthalein indicator were then added. The burette was filled with the provided NaOH
solution of 0.1M, with volume measurements taken from the bottom of the meniscus. The conical
flask was placed under the burette, from which a rough titration of the vinegar solution began.
Titrations halted once a permanent color change was visible in the conical flask. This process was
repeated until three concordant titre values were obtained.

Franchising and licensing, however provide an attractive alternative for companies to grow market
share and revenue without the extraordinary capital expenditures. The next few pages will attempt to
explain the main differences between licensing and franchising as well as the advantages and
disadvantages of each. Additionally, the explanation will take into consideration the ways in which
franchising is adaptable to corporate expansion in France. Franchising and Licensing Defined The line
between franchising and licensing is not always clear and definitive. This is especially true when
companies attempt to establish a position across international borders. There are a myriad of different
laws and regulations that a firm must comply with in order to set up shop in a foreign country. Hill
(2005) would say that a country.s domestic firms have a competitive advantage over foreign firms, if
the domestic consumers are sophisticated, demanding, and have expectations of high standards and
product quality. However, many governments, in an attempt to protect their domestic producers and
the jobs they provide from foreign competition, place nontariff barriers into the market place to
prevent foreign competition. As such, companies seeking to invest and expand in countries where
product demand and non tariff barriers are

migrants fit into the racial, ethnic, and economic hierarchies in New York. I found the discussion of

Manorialism In The Great Chain Of Being
The time of the middle ages began around 500 A.D. Feudalism is the background of the time of the
middle ages. Manorialism shows all of the different lands and jobs that take place on the manor.
Although there were lots of different roles surrounding feudalism and manorialism, the most
important one was the role of the blacksmith. In the medieval ages, everything would have been very
unsuccessful if it weren t for blacksmiths work. Feudalism is also known as the feudal system, it was
the economic and political system of this time, feudalism provided order in the society (Corrick 12

contracts, or feudal oaths, between lords and vassals (Biel 9). In feudalism, two nobles make an

The chain is based off of matter and spirit. The Great Chain of Being stated that everything in the
universe has its specific place on a ranked chain. The rankings on the chain were based off of how
much spirit and matter it has (Melani). The less spirit and the more matter an object has, the lower it is
on the chain (Melani). The Great Chain of Being comes from God. Everything has their own place and
function in the universe according to the chain s concept. To leave their place was known as betrayal
to God (Melani). Overall, the Great Chain of Being states that God put everything in a specific
position, if the object moves, they re disappointing God. Objects had to act accordingly based off of
their positions, they had to have their ideal behavior (Melani). Everyone or everything in this position
on the chain must act as they should in that position. The Great Chain of being and feudalism connect

Imperialism And The American Power Scheme
Imperialism is the policy or action by which one country controls another country or territory.
Most such control is achieved by military means to gain economic and political advantages. Such
a policy is also called expansionism. An expansionist state that obtains overseas territories
follows a policy usually called colonialism. An imperialist government may wish to gain new
markets for its exports, plus sources of inexpensive labor and raw materials. A far flung empire
may satisfy a nation s desire for military advantage or recognition as a world power.
American imperialism is the economic, military and cultural influence of the United States on
other countries. Such influence often goes hand in hand with expansion into foreign territories.
The term American imperialism could identify the United States as an inherently imperial power
that self justifies its own expansion and either the domination or incorporation of other parties
into the American power scheme. In discussions of Imperialism, some argue that imperialism
takes other country s freedom while other contend that it makes the countries more civilized,
advanced and it helps them to get their freedom. American Imperialism does more harm than
Good.
Many people argue that American imperialism helped other countries to get their freedom. One of

The Neo Traditional Family Structure Essay
The neo traditional family structure is subsiding and is being replaced by the now more popular
egalitarian family structure. Before the neo traditional family structure was considered ideal, with one
sole financial provider for the family (usually the male), but this family structure is more difficult to
maintain because t is difficult for one person o be the breadwinner; also, the unfinished revolution has
also led to viewing this family structure as unappealing because it can be limiting for one spouse
(usually the woman). Thus, egalitarian family structures are now becoming more popular, as:
household work, childcare, and financial contribution is more equally divided between the two
partners. However, I learned that many still hold some neo traditional values, more so the males in my
sample than did the females. Initially, I thought that culture would be the largest determining in a
persons desired family structure, but the data showed otherwise. For instance, I thought that
underrepresented minorities, such as, Latinos and African Americans would hold more neo traditional
views simply because of culture. Interestingly, I learned from my analysis that this was not necessarily
the case; instead, I found that many of the participants had intermixed components of both neo
traditional family structure and an egalitarian family structure. Many of their responses contradicted
with their desired family structure. I think that this mentality is leading to new hybrid family

Human Dependence On The Tar Sands
Human dependence on the tar sands will be monumental in the future with the end of conventional oil.
The tar sands project in Alberta is currently one of the greatest industrial projects throughout human
history. At this time, the oil sands in Alberta are the second largest producers of oil in the world. The
oil sands in Alberta carry more than 170 billion barrels of oil, which is enough to sustain Canada s oil
demand for more than 15 decades. However, oil sands development over the years has shown harmful
effects on the health of the communities in Alberta. According to the epidemiological health data, the
toxins from Alberta tar sands are responsible for the unhealthy environment, water challenges, and
high cancer rates. Due to these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the current and projected oil sands development, the green house gas emission is expected to
grow significantly in the near future in Alberta. The increase in the greenhouse gas emission leads to
more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that traps the heat, which will eventually lead to global
warming. Furthermore, some green house gases like ozone are extremely harmful since it creates
respiratory problems for humans and it also disrupts the ecosystem by damaging crops. Thus, the oil
sands development has led to an unhealthy environment in the communities of Alberta over the past
couple of years by releasing a great deal of greenhouse gases.
Additionally, air pollution is also one of the most threatening environmental issues created from the
development of the tar sands. The air pollution created from the tar sands is not being dealt with
enough to protect the communities, the environment, and human health. During the process of
extracting oil from the sand, there are many vehicles used such as tractors, caterpillars, and cranes that
releases large amounts of carbon into the atmosphere. The high concentration of carbon in the
atmosphere can lead to numerous damaging consequences within the communities. Recent studies
have also shown that if tar sand production increases as expected, then there will be a significant

WOMEN S DEVELOPMENT HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Women s empowerment is a noted concept in social change, which is much discussed, often elusive
and sometimes abused. Yet in the context of development, women s leadership and agency in social
change have been levers for women s empowerment within communities. Women have sought to fight
entrenched interests for community benefits, and have garnered through their collective strength, a
new identity. Women s rights around the world are an important indicator to understand global well

Both these movements raised the question of equal status of women. The issues which attracted the
attention of the nineteenth century social reformers were sati, ill treatment of widows, the ban on
widow remarriage, polygamy, child marriage, denial of property rights and education to women.
The Reformers thought that by giving women access to education and by enacting progressive
legislation social change could be initiated.
Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, M.G. Ranade, Mahatma Phule, Lokhitwadi,

the custom of child marriage, prohibition of widow remarriage, temple prostitution and the custom of

also generated strength and confidence among women which helped them to organize and fight for
their cause. The formation of the All India Women s Conference in 1927 was a crucial event in women
s march towards equality. Many laws were enacted which tried to eradicate certain social evils. These
included an Act legalizing remarriage of widows, child marriage Restraint Act

Propaganda During The Great War
The Great War was not only fought with tanks, U boats, and trench warfare, but it was a war of
propaganda. Propaganda from both sides was used throughout the Great War to help try and shape the
opinions of each embattled nation. This total war did not just require innovative weapons, but also
innovative and at times even deceptive propaganda. The British, Germans and United States
governments specifically, invested a lot of resources into propaganda as a way to increase recruitment
numbers, build international support, and instill a sense of confidence in what was the Great War.
Countries had to not just focus their efforts on getting people from their own country to support them,
but also neutral countries, as well as having to focus on the enemies by use of atrocity propaganda. In
turn, this led to governments tampering with the human will, and even using deceit, all in an effort to
help solidify their sides victory. In turn, propaganda played a vital role in the Great War and
additionally created an everlasting influence on both war and media in the world today. Unlike
previous wars, this war required not just millions of men to serve their own countries, but it required
the support of all civilians to help play a role in the war efforts. M.L Saunders stated During the war,
sections of the community which has previously remained uninvolved in the exigencies of national
survival had found themselves directly affected by events at the front line. Life changed for

Roman Wine In Greek Culture
During the time of Greek and Roman civilizations, cultivated wine prevailed as a symbol of social
status and religious activities. Throughout both civilizations, wine became the equivalent of wealth
and social sophistication, and dominated in what was considered to be civilized atmospheres.
However, in Roman culture they believed wine represented social differentiation while the Greeks saw
it as the epitome of equality. Wine is a drink that encompasses all cultures and has been respected by
many societies. In the second millennium BCE, wine became prominent in the Greek and Roman

The Issue Of Availability And Quality Of The Information...
4. Discuss the issue of availability and quality of the information that you base scenarios on.
In order for any scenario to be successful, the type of information used must be current, relevant and
reliable. If this is not the case then your scenario will not be effective at all, leading to a disastrous
event which might even proceed to an organisation losing a lot of money eventually closing down. So
carefully analysis of the type of information received and from which source is this information
received from must be considered.
When developing a scenario, a deep insightful research must be done in order to gather as much data
as possible; from this data serious analysis is done to scan the data and only taking that which is useful
(which now becomes useful information) in creating a scenario. The information needed here is
mostly about that relating to the future, so hence such information will be hard to find or come up
with. This is where the help of experts and external advisors comes to play, in order to verify the
information you have and also add into your information.
Companies usually have management information systems which they use to get the information need,
and in these management information systems there are feathers of scenarios built in, to make the
retrieval of information to be used in a scenario easier. Another way of getting the right type of
information for running scenarios would be through other applications such as spread sheets.

The Growth Of The Manufacturing And Agriculture Sectors
Increased productivity in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors has created a higher level of
disposable income in the population, which has led to increased purchases of services. As income
rises, the demand for goods tends to rise less rapidly than the demand for services; hence, the
importance of services in the economy will rise. The result has been an evolution of the economy from
one geared primarily to manufactured goods to an economy engaged in the creation of services. Thus
the growth of services has been significant. Changes in the pattern of employment will have
implications upon where and how people live, upon educational requirements, and consequently upon
the kinds of organizations that will be important to society. Industrialization created the need for
semiskilled worker who could be trained in a few weeks to perform the routine tasks attending
machines. The service economy has caused a shift to white collar occupations in health, education,
and government. For the first time in the history of industrial society, the number of white collar
workers (professionals; managers; officials; proprietors, clerical kindred, and sales workers) exceeded
the number of blue collar workers (craftsmen and foremen; operatives; and laborers) and the gap is
widening. The most interesting growth has been in the managerial and professional technical fields.
The coordination of machines and people for the production of goods was central to the industrial
society.

Gender Socialization Through Toys and Sports
Gender Socialization through Toys and Sports
In today s society, there are many guidelines of how one should act and be. Gender socialization is the
process where people take on notions of gender roles, gender ideas and gender behaviours. At an early
age, boys and girls are told how to behave and act according to societal norms of gender behaviours
and roles. The comparison of Jane Smiley s article You Can Never Have too Many and John McMurty

males should possess characteristics of courage and strength and that weakness is frowned upon.
Society portrays an image that male should be strong and warrior like whereas female are nurturing

The off shore marine environment changes intensively with the change in the ocean depth. There are
three distinctive zones that can be classified along the depth which is the Epipelagic which extends

meters to a depth of a 1000 meters and then the Deep sea which extends from a depth of a 1000 meters

Mental Illness Estimations
Estimation Errors and Criticisms Most of the data used to estimate prevalence of a mental illness is
collected through cross sectional studies that are obtained retrospectively. As a whole, Almansa et al.
(2014) go even further to state that epidemiological studies about lifetime disorders typically do not
use adequate methods of analysis (Almansa et al., 2014). Due to this cross sectional study design and
retrospective data collection, the estimations of lifetime prevalence obtained by direct computation
tend to underestimate the actual lifetime prevalence for the given mental illness or disorder (Almansa

It can be said to model the time to event data. The event of a survival analysis is the occurrence of
interest. In the context of this study, the occurrence would be the first symptom of a disorder. The time
for a survival analysis is the time until the event is observed, or the study is concluded. This time
observation can be measured in days, weeks, years, etc. (Despa, n.d.). The survival time would
indicate the time until the observed individual exhibits the first symptom for a disorder. A survival

their information becomes censored. Survival analysis is particularly useful when confronted by
censored data (Singh Mukhopadhyay, 2011). Censorship is a main component in developing functions

example the distinction between of state and federal courts is state law can be more stringent than
federal law, but state law cannot be less lenient per se than federal law. In the U.S. Bill of Rights, the
4th Amendment guarantees the right of all people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and
effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue,

Platos Meno Essay
The dialogue opens up with Meno asking what virtue is and whether it could be taught. Socrates asks
Meno for a general definition of virtue, since as Socrates points out, we cannot figure out if virtue can
be taught if we do not have a clear idea what it is. Socrates is looking for a general, or formal
definition of virtue, not just examples or instances of it. Socrates wants to know what all the examples
of virtue have in common. He wants to know the essence of virtue. Meno initially offers a list of
virtues, but Socrates rejects this as a sufficient account. Meno also states that there are different virtues
for everyone. The virtue of a man is to order a state and the virtue of a woman is to order a household.
I believe that virtue can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, it needs to be determined if virtue is a kind of knowledge. Then if it is, we can conclude it can be
taught. And if virtue is not knowledge, thus concluding it cannot be taught. Socrates argues that virtue
is knowledge, but then he changes course abruptly at and begins to argue the other side. Socrates
points out there are teachers for medicine, priesthood and so on; everybody agrees that these are
genuine teachers, whereas people disagree about whether the Sophists really do teach virtue. Maybe
this again is because virtue cannot be taught.
Neither of the early questions whether virtue is knowledge, whether virtue can be taught, the nature of
virtue itself are answered. We arrive at some clarity about the unexpected issue of the nature and
importance of knowledge. Knowledge is justified as true belief. You need to be able to explain and
support your true belief because otherwise this knowledge will escape form the mind. Socrates uses
the slave boy to demonstrate the process of recollection by asking him questions about a geometrical
problem. Socrates has shown that there exists an additional cognitive state that can guide one much in
the same way as one guided by knowledge. This state is the state of true opinion. Although true
opinion is always true, it is fleeting and impermanent.
I believe virtue is anything that may be advantageous in one s own way. It may be good, it may be bad

The word constitution means fundamental law, law determining the fundamental political principles of
a government. The U.S Constitution is the fundamental law for the United States, which means the

back up by the U.S Constitution, which means the two constitutions have similarities and differences.
First, Texas constitution was written in 1827 and was rewritten six times until the Texas constitution of
1876 was passed down. There are many similarities and differences when comparing and contrasting

The government is not above the law, and the power is divided to laws, administered by another, and
an independent judiciary ensures that the laws are legitimate, and manga fairly. The rights of
individuals are determined by legal rules better than the arbitrary actions of the government, and no
punishment can be done by anyone unless a court decides there has been a breach of law.
Addition, the Texas constitution and New York constitution have similarities and difference. One of
the main similarities is the Bill of Right. This is a formal summary of the rights and liberties
considered essential to a people or group of people. The individual rights provide a variety of
restraints on political power to protect people against unwarranted intrusion and abuses. Both talk
about suffrage tax and revenue along with general provisions and modes of amending the

The combined reduction of the costs regarding water, which is about 80% reused, wastewater
surcharges and lower energy costs (Boston CityBizList, 2015) can mean an economy of up to $2 per
barrel produced (CBS News, 2011). Considering that the most likely targets are medium sized
breweries, as the largest ones have their own systems, this reduction is very significant. This is not
counting the significant environmental gains.
MAGIC HAT
The first successfully implanted plant was in Burlington to consume the waste from the Magic Hat
brewery. The land, owned by Magic Hat, was leased for only $1. This plant will be able to generate up
to 2 billion BTU (Noblet, 2010), can store up to 460,000 gallons of waste and generate 100 cubic feet
of gas per minute (Boston CityBizList, 2015).

Advantage Of Liberal Arts College
For those who want to further their schooling in a way that focuses on undergraduate studies and
creating a well rounded education a liberal arts college is the perfect opportunity to achieve a higher
education. Some of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the United States date back to the 1600s. There
are many advantages to studying at a liberal arts college. A liberal arts education can give students the
opportunity to have a smaller environment and a well rounded education. The smaller environment
that a liberal arts college provides to students is very helpful for a successful college experience. A
smaller number of undergrad students enrolled into one s college translates to having smaller class
sizes. Jessica Velasco explains, Average class sizes at liberal arts colleges are usually less than 30
students (Velasco, College Raptor). The transition from small high school classes to college is easier if
the college classes are similar in size. This is especially helpful for students who have trouble focusing
and learn best in smaller environments. It is easier to get help when necessary. Hand in hand with
smaller class sizes is close relationships with professors. Velasco illustrates, Classes, including
introductory courses, are taught by professors at liberal arts colleges... because each class is usually
taught by a professor, this means they generally have the opportunity to spend more quality time with
their students, getting to know them, evaluating and critiquing their work much more closely, and
serving as mentors (Velasco, College Raptor). At most universities lecture classes have hundreds of
students. At those institutions, it is nearly impossible to be on a first name basis with the professors.
With a large number of students, there is often no time to build relationships. The small environment
that liberal arts colleges pride themselves on allows easy access to professors. They are able to answer
questions and personally help their students. Finally, many liberal arts colleges have many student
activities to take part in. Liberal arts colleges usually have fewer student organizations and activities
than larger universities, but participation tends to be higher, Velasco writes. Time

John F Kennedy Camelot Analysis
Jacqueline Kennedy s smiling face shines out from the surface of Andy Warhol s Jackie, embodying
Camelot , the dream of a new American renaissance that accompanied John F. Kennedy s election as
the 35th President of the United States. Warhol based this painting on a press photograph of the First
Lady, taken just hours before an assassin s bullet shattered the dream. The First Lady appears relaxed
and glamorous in this intimate portrait with her pillbox hat and fur collared coat. Marking out this
screen s rare quality, we can clearly see the President over her right shoulder, smiling enthusiastically,
blissfully unaware of the impending tragedy. Warhol seized upon this image, one of many of Jackie
that saturated the media for days and days after the president s death. The media process fascinated
Warhol, as did the ensuing frenzy and demand for national and international grief. He took this image
and, with his unrivalled ability to capture the contemporary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This seminal work remains a masterpiece of Warhol s infatuation with the media and the cult of
celebrity. With Jackie, Warhol adapted the formula he had already tested on Campbell s Soup and
Coca Cola, for use on a celebrity, but in this case one whose image had unprecedented emotional
strength. The president s glamorous widow had the intense sympathies of millions, and the death of
her husband only enshrined her role as a cultural symbol. After John F. Kennedy s death, Jackie
symbolized hope and sympathy for an entire nation, and while Jackie reminds us of his earlier works,
it also creates a complex fusion between emotion and image, between Pop and popularity. Standing on
the brink of his Death and Disaster series, Warhol s portrait of Jackie encapsulates celebrity s
pervasive glare in the midst of personal

Song From The One And Only Grunge Rock Group Nirvana
Come, as you are, as you were, as I want you to be . These famous lyrics can be recognized from a
song from the one and only grunge rock group Nirvana. These lyrics can mean many things but it is
all about a person s interpretation. One interpretation though, that can single out one of the most
important concepts of the grunge era, is to be yourself . In the grunge crowd, in their following, there
is supposed to be no judgment. You can come as you are, as a friend, as an enemy as you want to be.
This concept hit home for a lot of young kids in the 90 s. They felt like they connected to this music,
especially to Kurt Cobain s lyrics. Nirvana s success marked the real beginning of this genre of music,
fusing punk disaffection with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All these bands contributed to the Grunge Revolution, but it was Nirvana that really took everyone on
a whirlwind. Right before the Grunge Revolution, Rock music had become something of a show with
all the glitz and glamour and puffed hair and make up. At this point people were yearning for real rock
music to make a comeback, people wanted something meaningful and the new 90 s generation wanted
a new voice. This is what Nirvana gave the people, through music, and through Kurt Cobain s
radicalness and I don t care what you think about me, this is who I am attitude, he made it known that
it was ok to be who you are. No matter what you re going through or think, there was no judgment in
his music, but more rebellion and the people wanted to rebel against all that society believed was
perceived as correct, even if it wasn t. It is no secret that Kurt struggled with many things, he
struggled with his fame that sky rocketed overnight, struggled with the emotions of a very harsh
childhood, and then came drugs to numb it all. All these emotions though, flowed through his music,
and people felt as if they knew him personally and a lot of the generation of the 90 s felt they could
relate to his music. What he didn t realize is that he was inadvertently bringing back the realness and
rawness to Rock that everyone was yearning for.

Importance Of Association For Mental Health
Association for Mental Health (now MIND) was formed to campaign for better provision for the
mentally disabled.
The National Assistance (NA) Act, 1946, implemented 1948, abolished the Poor Law/Public
Assistance and established the National Assistance Board (NAB), which took over its institutions and
responsibility for means tested benefits. However, all hospitals were absorbed into the National Health
Service, also established 1948. Older and disabled people were divided into the sick , who were placed
in hospitals (c. 90,000 people) and those needing care and attention (c. 42,000) who were placed in
residential homes, overwhelmingly former workhouses. The NAAct required local authorities, under
the control of the NAB, to provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The NAB was responsible to the Minister of Health, but semi independent and required to work also
with the new Ministry of National Insurance, whose benefits it supplemented. The
National Assistance Act was piloted through the Commons jointly by the Minister of Health,
Aneurin Bevan and the Minister of National Insurance, Jim Griffiths. The boundary between health
care and social care was far from clear and could not easily be for older and disabled people. In 1966
the NAB was abolished and replaced by the Supplementary Benefits
Commission. In 1968 this was absorbed into a new Department of Health and Social Security which
replaced the Ministries of Health and National Insurance, where it remained until 1988, when a
separate Department of Health was established. Responsibility for local government moved
permanently from the Ministry of Health to a separate in department in 1951, further complicating the
relationship between health and social care.
Few new Homes or hospitals were constructed until the late 1950s due to financial constraints.
Surveys in the 1960s found deplorable conditions in both hospitals and Homes for older and disabled
people.
There was a trend from the 1950s towards the replacement of in patient with out patient treatment for
the mentally disabled, influenced by the increasing awareness of psychiatrists of the harmful effects of
long term institutional care for some people, and by the costs of institutions. In 1953 half of

It was a beautiful young women borned as Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin. Mary was born on August 30, 1797 in London, England. Mary was the child of Mary Wollstonecraft and William Godwin. She was later married to a man named Percy Bysshe Shelley. Mary s parents were both writers which inspired her to later on in her life to write horror novels. Mary Shelley, the famous author of Frankenstein , used the experience of her hardships in life to create gothic and memorable novels that still can be appreciated by today s readers. If I was to describe Mary with one word it would be misfortunate. Ever since birth she has been facing problems after problems. Two weeks after birth, Mary s mother, Mary Wollstonecraft past away due to a severe fever. Mary Wollstonecraft was a pioneer in feminist thinking and writing. She was influenced by Thomas Paine that all women should have equal rights. When Wollstonecraft was younger she witnessed her mom being verbally and physically abused by her father. Her father referred to her mother as a piece of property who cannot have the same future as him due to her sex. After her mother s death, Wollstonecraft decided to make her own livelihood with her sister Eliza and her best friend Fanny. When Wollstonecraft was 28, she wrote a semi autobiographical novel called Maria which was later became very famous in London. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately, opiates can become addictive over time. Once someone is addicted, one of the first questions they ask is, How long do opiates stay in your system? The answer to this question depends on the individual, the severity of their addiction and the length of their addiction. How Long Do Opiates Stay in Your System After Using Them? An estimated 26.4 to 36 million people in the world are believed to abuse opiates. In general, opiates have a short half life. This means that the chemicals leave the body fairly quickly. • 4. Musical Analysis Of Songs Without Words Musical Analysis of Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 3 by Felix Mendelssohn Felix Mendelssohn composed Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 3 during the Romantic Period. It is known as a hunting song. The form of this song can be categorized as a rondo. This can be argued because the A theme that begins at measure 5 reappears throughout the song about two times. It comes back at measures 50 and 83. In between these A sections are a B section and a C section. The B section starts in measure 29 and the C section starts at measure 67. Measures 1 5 are a short introduction. The A section begins at the fourth beat of measure 5 and is in A major. The A section ends in a half cadence, which is an E major chord. The B section, which starts on the fourth beat of measure 29, is in C sharp natural minor. This is the relative minor of E major, which was the final chord of the first A section. At measure 49, there is a modulation back to A major which leads into a second A section beginning at measure 50. However, this A section is different mainly because the melody appears in the left hand and the section ends in an imperfect authentic cadence instead of a half cadence. This cadence is at the downbeat of measure 67, and there is no modulation to E major this time. The C section begins at measure 67 and is in A major. This section acts more as a transitional section that leads into a new statement of the main theme at measure 83. The final A section restates the main theme one last ... • 5. Theme Of The Poem 1958 By Gwendolyn Mcewen In the poem 1958, Gwendolyn MacEwen describes the high school environment as it would have been in the late 1950 s. Popular fads among the teenagers during this era are explored in detail. The prevailing theme throughout the text pertains to the idea of belonging. The poem focuses primarily on the desire teenagers have to fit in. Throughout this response I will explore the ways in which this poem differs and relates to the high school environment today. Secondly I will analyze the connections between this poem and a modern day movie. Lastly, I will express the ways in which my personal experiences relate to the central message in the poem. Several elements of the high school environment during the late 1950 s still exist today. The author mentions that, those guys spoke in crazy cryptic monosyllables . This statement is still relevant today; however teenage boys now speak in a form of speech referred to as gangster slang . Typical words include sup or peace which are used to express phrases such as how are you? or see you later. In the poem McEwen says that, those girls said nothing and were mean and cracked gum . Mean girls still continue to grace the school hallways glaring at those more vulnerable. These girls tend to be the masterminds behind vicious rumours that spread like wildfire throughout the school. McEwen mentions that the boys learned shop and the girls sewed shaky seams in the dresses they would never wear. This statement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within connective tissues, there are many tissue disorders that can affect your muscles, joints, or skin also your organs and organ systems. One connective tissue disease that I found was Marfan syndrome. Marfan syndrome is an inherited disorder that affects the connective tissue. Marfan syndrome affects about 1 in every 5000 people. People that have marfan syndrome usually have trouble with their eyes, heart, skeleton, and blood vessels. The main issue is the aorta which is the main artery can increasingly enlarge and lead to a dissection which is when the aorta erupts and that can lead to death. About forty percent of people with marfan syndrome that have an aorta that erupts will die immediately. Even if you have surgery after the aorta dissects there is a ten to twenty percent chance you could die. Most people with this disorder should check that their aorta is not rapidly or increasingly growing. The normal size for an aorta is about an inch, if it gets bigger than 4.7 centimeters, then it would be a good idea to get surgery. Luckily, most people that have to have a non emergency surgery have a 98% or greater chance of success. There are usually two types of surgery they can do to replace the aorta. The first one is the traditional method which is where they replace the aorta and put in graft and replace the aorta valve with a mechanical valve or the valve sparing method where the replace the aorta with a tube graft and re implant the original valve. • 7. Essay On Muscle Injury You often hear about athletes who are unable to play their sport due to a pulled hamstring. In fact, a pulled hamstring is one of the most common muscle pulls or muscle injury. Your hamstrings are a group of three muscles that help extend your legs at the hip and flex them at the knee. A pulled hamstring is a strain or tear in the muscles or tendons. To understand what causes a hamstring injury you have to know how muscles work. All muscles work in pairs to perform a task. One set of muscles contracts to exert force while the other set of muscles relaxes. The hamstring muscles located at the back of the thigh, work with the quadriceps muscle group in the front of the thigh. When you want to bend your leg, the hamstring muscles contract and the quadriceps muscles relax. Conversely, when you want to straighten your leg, the quadriceps muscles contract and the hamstring muscles relax. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This frequently happens with the hamstring muscles. The quadriceps muscles are usually much more powerful, so the hamstring can become fatigued faster. A fatigued muscle cannot relax as easily when its opposing muscle contracts, leading to strains. Muscle strains are overuse injuries that result when the muscle is stretched without being properly warmed up. An injury to the hamstring is usually readily apparent. Mild strains may involve simple, uncomfortable tightening of the muscle. More severe injuries may result in a sharp pain in the back of the thigh, usually in full stride. A rupture or tear may leave you unable to stand or walk, muscles may be tender to the touch and painful to stretch your leg. Within a few days after a tear the area may appear very bruised. • 9. Scope And Implementation Of A Vm Program Introduction [RELATIVE TO AUDIENCE] Scope and Implementation In order to implement a VM program an organization must assign responsibilities to perform patching and vulnerability management. For the purposes of this document it shall be referred to as the patch and vulnerability management group (PVG). This group may be a separate entity or the responsibilities may be a subset of an IT operations or services team. There may be several PVG s within an organization, central coordination of these groups directly or indirectly must be implemented. Automate Patching As much as possible, the burden of implementing and testing remediations should be shifted from local administrators to the PVG. This should save money by eliminating duplication of effort (e.g., multiple system administrators testing the same patch on similar computers) and by enabling automated solutions, thereby avoiding costly manual installations. The easiest way to accomplish this is by implementing enterprise patching solutions that allow the PVG, or a group they work closely with, to automatically push patches out to many computers quickly. Harden Systems and Standardize Configurations For the PVG to be able to adequately test automatically deployed patches, organizations should use standardized configurations for IT devices (e.g., desktop computers, routers, firewalls, servers) as much as possible. Enterprise patch management tools will be ineffective if deployed in an environment where every IT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This relates and can be interpreted from the lyrics in Uptown, And he takes all they got to give. LaLa Brooks, one of the former group members of the Crystals quintet, expresses her frustration and experience in working with Phil Spector. LaLa Brooks emotionally speaks in responding to the Agony and Ecstasy of Phil Spector, movie published in the time of Spector s arrest, I held back tears the first time. This demonstrates and embodies how Phil Spector, the producer and creator of the Wall of Sound, held power over the Crystals. It is said that in producing the song, Spector chose specific instruments so that he could layer them in a way that would overshadow the voices...that just stopped short of being busy. When listening to the track, Uptown, one is able to notice that the Crystals seem to be trying to sing over the musical instrumentations. After the production of Uptown, a former Crystal member mentioned that Spector would barely let them take part in the production process. Dee Dee Kennibrew states, From Uptown on he would bring in tracks, not finished, but enough for you to put your own part down, so he would do everything in segments, so I could not tell you how or what he kept of ours (History of Rock). Their success was dimmed by Phil Spector. He expressed that in producing music, he was focusing on the sound, I was looking for a sound, a sound so strong that if the material was not the greatest, the sound would carry the record (Wikipedia). I decided to pick this particular instrument because I truly enjoy the harmonic, lively and mysterious melodies it produces when it is being played. Additionally, when the viola is played along with other instruments its musical ranges complements the songs because it can alter between Soprano and Bass. Even though it usually does not have solo music composed for it the viola is a string instrument that with its elegant harmony can powerfully bring a deep and rhythmic tone to an orchestra performance. At the ten Booms residence it would never have crossed their minds as to whether they should open their doors to ones in need. Even before the war, the family had raised eleven foster children in a Christian home with morals, values and integrity (21). As it was to unfold, the ten Booms became increasingly involved in the underground movement in an attempt to save Jews from Hitler s cruel eugenics movement. Pickwick assisted the ten Booms to find places of hiding from the Nazi death camps, food cards to sustain them, and aided in the set up of alarms and security around the house. The ten Booms didn t begrudge the Jews their religion, though different from their own. They embraced it and merely did the right thing. However, on February 28, 1944, the ten Boom family was betrayed and the Beje was raided. The six people in hiding were able to escape into the upstairs hiding space in time due to all of the practice drills, alarms and such to ensure their safety. However, the ten Boom family members were caught and taken in for interrogation by the Nazis. Corrie, Casper, Willem, Betsie, Nollie, and her husband Peter van Woerden were then imprisoned during this Gestapo raid on the Beje. Robert Smith s Mexican New York explores the transnational nature of Mexican migration through an extended cast study of migrants and their children from Ticuani, in Puebla, Mexico. Threat of New Entrants Moderately High The food processing industry is very large and competitive; it is not uncommon for firms within the industry to do quite well. As a result, many companies enter into the market every year in an attempt to gain a portion of the profitable market. Luckily for Nestlé, the company has been around for decades and boasts a long history of quality products and consumer satisfaction, which has allowed the company to obtain a considerable share of the market. It is demonstrated in accelerated investment activity in the 2000 s which indicates long term commitment in markets where Nestle operates, and construction of 16 factories from 1993 2006 in China to meet consumer demand. • 25. The Neo Traditional Family Structure Essay The neo traditional family structure is subsiding and is being replaced by the now more popular egalitarian family structure. Before the neo traditional family structure was considered ideal, with one sole financial provider for the family (usually the male), but this family structure is more difficult to maintain because t is difficult for one person o be the breadwinner; also, the unfinished revolution has also led to viewing this family structure as unappealing because it can be limiting for one spouse (usually the woman). Thus, egalitarian family structures are now becoming more popular, as: household work, childcare, and financial contribution is more equally divided between the two partners. However, I learned that many still hold some neo traditional values, more so the males in my sample than did the females. Initially, I thought that culture would be the largest determining in a persons desired family structure, but the data showed otherwise. For instance, I thought that underrepresented minorities, such as, Latinos and African Americans would hold more neo traditional views simply because of culture. Interestingly, I learned from my analysis that this was not necessarily the case; instead, I found that many of the participants had intermixed components of both neo traditional family structure and an egalitarian family structure. Models in today s society fit this description which makes other females want to achieve the same look. The appearances for females set by society s norms are presented in toys that gives off the message that if you do not look like this , it is considered unattractive. Frilly, sexy, pink, purple, bedizened, and bejewelled were the preferred Barbies, (Smiley 238) shows that females should have these characteristics in order to be seen as ... • 39. The Ecology Of The Cookie Cutter Shark The Ecology of the Cookie cutter Shark (Isistius brasiliensis) The off shore marine environment changes intensively with the change in the ocean depth. There are three distinctive zones that can be classified along the depth which is the Epipelagic which extends from the sea surface to a depth of 200 meters, the mesopelagic which extends from a depth of 200 meters to a depth of a 1000 meters and then the Deep sea which extends from a depth of a 1000 meters to the sea floor (Castro Huber, 2010). The Deep sea can then be divided into a further three zones (Figure 01) Bathypelagic which extends from a depth of a 1000 meters to 4000 meters, Abyssopelagic which extends from a depth of 4000 meters to 6000 meters and then the Hadopelagic which extends which extends from a depth of 6000 meters to the sea floor (Castro Huber, 2010). Figure 01: Ocean depth layers (http://e08595.medialib.glogster.com/) The Deep sea ecosystem has been classified as the largest ecosystem compared to all other ecosystems within the world (Martin, 2003). The main characteristics of this ecosystem is that it experiences very low oxygen levels, the water temperature is extremely cold, the pressure within this area is very high and sunlight do not penetrate to these depths. The species that do live within this environment are highly adapted to these harsh conditions such as the Cookie cutter Shark (Isistius brasiliensis) (Figure 02). • 40. Mental Illness Estimations Estimation Errors and Criticisms Most of the data used to estimate prevalence of a mental illness is collected through cross sectional studies that are obtained retrospectively. As a whole, Almansa et al. (2014) go even further to state that epidemiological studies about lifetime disorders typically do not use adequate methods of analysis (Almansa et al., 2014). Due to this cross sectional study design and retrospective data collection, the estimations of lifetime prevalence obtained by direct computation tend to underestimate the actual lifetime prevalence for the given mental illness or disorder (Almansa et al., 2014). In order to understand how some of these basic prevalence calculations are made, consider the following provided example. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can be said to model the time to event data. The event of a survival analysis is the occurrence of interest. In the context of this study, the occurrence would be the first symptom of a disorder. The time for a survival analysis is the time until the event is observed, or the study is concluded. This time observation can be measured in days, weeks, years, etc. (Despa, n.d.). The survival time would indicate the time until the observed individual exhibits the first symptom for a disorder. A survival function concentrates on the time until the desired event transpires. The cumulative probability of events over time is calculated while adjusting other influential covariates (Singh Mukhopadhyay, 2011). If an individual in the study does not experience the event of interest during the study, then their information becomes censored. Survival analysis is particularly useful when confronted by censored data (Singh Mukhopadhyay, 2011). Censorship is a main component in developing functions for survival analysis. For this study, censoring occurs when the information regarding the survival time (time until the first symptom of a disorder occurs) is lacking; thus, there is information present for a variable but it is not ... • 42. Platos Meno Essay The dialogue opens up with Meno asking what virtue is and whether it could be taught. Socrates asks Meno for a general definition of virtue, since as Socrates points out, we cannot figure out if virtue can be taught if we do not have a clear idea what it is. Socrates is looking for a general, or formal definition of virtue, not just examples or instances of it. Socrates wants to know what all the examples of virtue have in common. He wants to know the essence of virtue. Meno initially offers a list of virtues, but Socrates rejects this as a sufficient account. Meno also states that there are different virtues for everyone. The virtue of a man is to order a state and the virtue of a woman is to order a household. I believe that virtue can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, it needs to be determined if virtue is a kind of knowledge. Then if it is, we can conclude it can be taught. And if virtue is not knowledge, thus concluding it cannot be taught. Socrates argues that virtue is knowledge, but then he changes course abruptly at and begins to argue the other side. Socrates points out there are teachers for medicine, priesthood and so on; everybody agrees that these are genuine teachers, whereas people disagree about whether the Sophists really do teach virtue. Maybe this again is because virtue cannot be taught. Neither of the early questions whether virtue is knowledge, whether virtue can be taught, the nature of virtue itself are answered. We arrive at some clarity about the unexpected issue of the nature and importance of knowledge. Knowledge is justified as true belief. You need to be able to explain and support your true belief because otherwise this knowledge will escape form the mind. Socrates uses the slave boy to demonstrate the process of recollection by asking him questions about a geometrical problem. Socrates has shown that there exists an additional cognitive state that can guide one much in the same way as one guided by knowledge. This state is the state of true opinion. Although true opinion is always true, it is fleeting and impermanent. I believe virtue is anything that may be advantageous in one s own way. It may be good, it may be bad in ... • 46. Advantage Of Liberal Arts College For those who want to further their schooling in a way that focuses on undergraduate studies and creating a well rounded education a liberal arts college is the perfect opportunity to achieve a higher education. Some of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the United States date back to the 1600s. There are many advantages to studying at a liberal arts college. A liberal arts education can give students the opportunity to have a smaller environment and a well rounded education. The smaller environment that a liberal arts college provides to students is very helpful for a successful college experience. A smaller number of undergrad students enrolled into one s college translates to having smaller class sizes. Jessica Velasco explains, Average class sizes at liberal arts colleges are usually less than 30 students (Velasco, College Raptor). The transition from small high school classes to college is easier if the college classes are similar in size. This is especially helpful for students who have trouble focusing and learn best in smaller environments. It is easier to get help when necessary. Hand in hand with smaller class sizes is close relationships with professors. Velasco illustrates, Classes, including introductory courses, are taught by professors at liberal arts colleges... because each class is usually taught by a professor, this means they generally have the opportunity to spend more quality time with their students, getting to know them, evaluating and critiquing their work much more closely, and serving as mentors (Velasco, College Raptor). At most universities lecture classes have hundreds of students. At those institutions, it is nearly impossible to be on a first name basis with the professors. With a large number of students, there is often no time to build relationships. The small environment that liberal arts colleges pride themselves on allows easy access to professors. They are able to answer questions and personally help their students. Finally, many liberal arts colleges have many student activities to take part in. Liberal arts colleges usually have fewer student organizations and activities than larger universities, but participation tends to be higher, Velasco writes. Time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

John F Kennedy Camelot Analysis Jacqueline Kennedy s smiling face shines out from the surface of Andy Warhol s Jackie, embodying Camelot , the dream of a new American renaissance that accompanied John F. Kennedy s election as the 35th President of the United States. Warhol based this painting on a press photograph of the First Lady, taken just hours before an assassin s bullet shattered the dream. The First Lady appears relaxed and glamorous in this intimate portrait with her pillbox hat and fur collared coat. Marking out this screen s rare quality, we can clearly see the President over her right shoulder, smiling enthusiastically, blissfully unaware of the impending tragedy. This is what Nirvana gave the people, through music, and through Kurt Cobain s radicalness and I don t care what you think about me, this is who I am attitude, he made it known that it was ok to be who you are.
