The Articles Of The Constitution
Throughout America s history, the very confederation of her people has been weak and even suffered
near fatal blows, and yet that nation still stands today. However, the very backbone of the democracy
which so many revere, the Constitution, was once abhorred and feared as a much stronger government
than such a democracy should allow. The government, at the time, was inept and subject to the rule of
each near independent state, not able to tax without begging, nor able to regulate the quickening and
worsening conflicts in trade and monetary production between those states. Taking into account these
ineptitudes, compounded by the foreign intrusions which peppered the eighteenth century, the Articles
of Confederation was not only an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At every turn, the states stymied the government, harming it more and more. Further telling of the
inability of the Articles was the internal struggles not only within the USA, but within her own
government. John Jay was an influential statesman of his time, and the delegate to Spain as well, but
many know him for that which he is most famous: Jay s Treaty. During the eighteenth century, Britain
and the United States maintained a tenuous relationship as naval skirmishes and impressment of
American sailors continued. The US could not stand any more, and so the delegation to England was
ordered to, in a respectful but firm manner insist that the United States be put, without further delay,
into possession of all the posts and territories within their limits, ... [and] represent to the British
Ministry the strong and necessary tendency of their restrictions on our trade to incapacitate our
merchants. (Document D) However, Alexander Hamilton, a Federalist just as Jay, traveled to Britain

The Growing Problem of Food Intolerance
Food intolerance has been a growing problem. Symptoms can vary anywhere from nausea, skin
rashes, anemia, depressions to nutritional deficiencies as well as thyroid disease, kidney failure and
cancer. This research paper explores information regarding food intolerance looking specifically at the
role of gluten on the immune system and how an elimination diet plays a role.
Gluten is a protein found in most cereal grains and is consumed in greater quantities than any other
form of protein. It has been estimated that 6% to 7% of the U.S population have been diagnosed to be
gluten sensitive, bringing that number to almost 20 million people. Intolerance to gluten relates to
gastrointestinal problems which include diarrhea, bloating and might result in consumption. Other
body systems that are affected are the central and peripheral nervous systems, the integumentary
system and the endocrine system. Berstad et al at Oslo s Lovisenberg Diaconale Hospital studied 84
participants who have been referred to gastroenterologists for digestive problems which the patients
think are caused by sensitivities to certain kinds of foods. The results of the study showed that all by
one participant was qualified for irritable bowel syndrome. In addition, 85% had symptoms indicating
chronic fatigue syndrome and 74% showed symptoms of fibromyalgia. In children, the
neurodevelopmental disorders such as ASD, autism spectrum disorders, have been on the increase
since 1980 and with an average of 4.3:1

Football Informative Essay
Injury plague in the NFL catalyst for greater innovation
The game of football is still in its infancy. The invention of the forward pass and its official adoption
in 1906 is proof positive that fundamentally the game has room to advance. By all accounts, the
forward pass was the invention that saved the game of football after a great rugby player from Yale in
the 1880s, Walter Camp, pioneered rules changes that slowly transformed rugby into the new game of
American Football. Birth of Pro Football
Player safety has been the catalyst for football evolution. A fact currently supported by the NFL s 1st
and Future initiative dealing with this very topic and others. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell
@nflcommish gets booed often but, in my opinion, he was right to legislate the violent hits out of the
NFL.
The wave of change has now begun and history seems to be repeating itself. Former NFL players
settled a 1 billion dollar lawsuit that accused the NFL of hiding the risks of repeated concussions in
order to return players to the field. The deal avoids the need for a trial and means the NFL might never
have to disclose what it knew, and when.
Safety innovation remarkable influence on the NFL s killer past
The precedent for this next wave of innovation was set by events that triggered the forward pass well
over 120 years ago. After several serious and fatal injuries resulting from close formation offenses,
protests came from men in high places...even President Theodore

Plethysmograph Essay
The History of Polygraph
Since the beginning of time, people have been looking for ways to distinguish the truth from the lies in
people who were suspected of committing crimes. Many techniques were tried over the centuries,
many of these techniques stemmed from ridiculous and cruel. Many of these techniques were based on
the assumption that a physiological reaction would have occurred when a person was confronted with
details specific events. When questioned, the person s physiological reaction to these events would
show symptoms that they were either being honest or deceitful.
Angelo Mosso
In 1878, the Italian physiologist, Angelo Mosso used an instrument called a plethysmograph. In this
research, he focused on the emotions and fears ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Larson was a police officer who developed the original lie detector. Larson named his instrument the
polygraph. Polygraph is a Greek word that means many writings and Larson used this since his
instrument was able to read several physiological responses at the same time as well as document
these responses. By using his polygraph instrument, Larson was the first person to continuously and
simultaneously measure the changes in a person s pulse rate, blood pressure and respiratory rate while
being interrogated. He was successful in his criminal investigations.
Leonarde Keeler
In 1925, Leonarde Keeler create a polygraph instrument that used inked pens which recorded the
changes in a person s blood pressure, pulse rate and respiratory patterns. In 1938, Keeler refined his
instrument by adding a third component for the detection of deception, this was called the psycho
galvanometer. This component measured changes in a person s skin electrical resistance while being
questioned. This paved way to the polygraph as we know it today. In 1948, Leonarde Keeler founded
the first polygraph school, the Keeler Polygraph Institute based in Chicago, Illinois.

The Epidemic Of Ebola Epidemic
6,500 people in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone have obtained Ebola according to
the World Health Organization, 3,000 people or more have died. The epidemic of Ebola spreading is a
threat to Africa and other countries that s healthcare isn t strong enough to combat a disease alone
(Burgess). This means the United States must step in to prevent the spread of this epidemic to prevent
some estimates of the worst case scenario. The United States is morally responsible for the health of
others and by containing the epidemic to these few countries; it will potentially save the United States
and other allied countries with the US.

Vegetable Puree Experiment
If the vegetable puree is zucchini puree, then the moisture content will increase. The purpose of this
experiment is to determine whether adding vegetable puree to cupcakes increases the moisture
content. No one likes a dry cupcake, so if there is a way to add moisture, then this should happen.
Another benefit to this experiment is that by adding vegetable puree it can be a healthier alternative as
opposed to normal cupcakes. The experiment was interesting because baking is something that is done
very often, and is always great to find ways to improve the food. This project is meant to achieve
better tasting cupcakes, that are also healthier and have better texture.
In a similar project, certain ingredients were taken out of the cupcake. ... Show more content on

Instead of replacing the butter with avocado puree and zucchini puree, the puree was added along with
the butter. This is part of the reason there was too much moisture, especially with the zucchini
cupcakes.
The hypothesis was supported. The zucchini cupcakes contained the most moisture. The moisture
content was 16.5 grams. The moisture content for the avocado cupcakes was 15.5 grams. And the
control cupcakes had a moisture content of 14.4 grams. The science behind the experiment was that
when vegetables are added the moisture content increases, which makes for a better cupcake. The
percent difference was 20%.
The science behind this experiment was the chemistry within baking. The different ingredients in each
batch of cupcakes had a different outcome. Each batch looked and tasted different. This shows how
changing one little thing can have a very different result. This is also a way to show what is good for
your body. The cupcakes without vegetable puree are not as healthy like the zucchini and avocado

Ellen Foster, Lord Of The Flies, And To Kill A Mockingbird...
Over the summer I was exposed to a new and adventurous side of literature. From a plane crash and
savagery, to racial issues, and child suffrage, it honestly widened my view on life s hardships. Reading
Ellen Foster, Lord of the Flies, and To Kill a Mockingbird truly stretched my imagination. Each book
had their own twists and turns, but I believe they all linked in amazing ways. One way all three novels
connected in my opinion, would be how tenacious kids are when they are required to overcome
adversity. In Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, there is a plane crash which abandoned a large
amount of boys with no parental guidance on an island stranded with no food, water, or an easily
accessible shelter. The boys struggled to survive through the whole book and ended up turning on each
other because of a disagreement of what is more important, a signal fire or hunting. A quote from this
book reads, Kill the pig! Cut his throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in! (Golding page. 104). This quote
displays what Jack believes is the right path for the boys surviving on the island. Ralph on the other
hand, had a different approach of obtaining order. This quote explains just that, We ve got to have
rules and obey them. After all, we re not savages. We re English, and the English are best at
everything. (Golding page. 40). All being under the age of sixteen, they shouldn t be obligated to deal
with this kind of situation. They are obviously not responsible enough to survive on

Analysis Of The Book The Devil
(Part the Third: Almost The End)
THE DEVIL IS IN THE SUBJECTIVELY OBJECTIVE DETAILS
When The Devil Went Down to Georgia looking to steal a soul, I found that I preferred the fancy
fiddle playing of Satan over the more mundane instrumental performed by Johnny! While considered
an unpardonable sin in Southern circles, this unabashedly conceited and conceded musical bias on my
part is my first consciously remembered lesson in subjectivity. Although unquestionably ruining the
general narrative of the song by the Charlie Daniels Band, give the golden fiddle playing Devil his
due, everything ultimately boils down to a case of subjective opinion. So choose your side: Tea or

And similar to one s musical preferences, taste in all its forms is a subjective choice and doubly so
with hors d œuvres. Nevertheless, my grape leaf, flat bread, and tabouli salad devouring Father
nonetheless married my Mother, even after learning of her Polynesian palate s predilection for fresh
fish eyes, sea cucumber intestines, and sea urchin roe. Moreover, to continue feeding her insatiable
seafood habit, he regularly and repeatedly dove deep, down to the ocean s black sandy fickle bottom,
to retrieve for her bêche de mer and sharp spined sea urchin all the while vainly eyeballing her
shapely, round okole! As a Lebanese American, the culturally dominant American side of my Father
pronounces these tempting cutlery free treats Horsey Derves. Whereas the more aesthetically sensitive
Lebanese half calls them moqabbelat or (‫)مقبالت‬, an Arabic term meaning: things which make one

unabridged consequences and repercussions of marrying a Tongan or she of marrying a Palangi, just
as Kenyon Admissions may not yet entirely appreciate what I bring to their table! Nor could I have
fully foreseen the bellyaching animus of my aged French teacher and her haughty disdain for the
superfluous use of the unappetizing, English plural form of hors d œuvres, since in the French spelling

Can One Be Considered A Villain
How can one be considered a hero, how can one be considered a villain?
Can one be a hero and not a hero at the same time? One act alone cannot make someone a hero. They
could have been forced against their wil. It mostly depends on the person s history such as if they did a
bad deed multiple times or if they did it just once. A hero is someone that does an act that either saves
a life or does it for the greater good. Anyone could do anything helpful and can be called a hero.
Majority of the time, there is a hero and there is always a villain, someone who does something to ruin
the hero s plan. Most likely the hero succeeds and the villain fails. A hero can do something bad in
someway, there is no way to describe someone by two choices. According

Essay on Qualitative and Quantitative Research
Qualitative and Quantitative study designs both can be beneficial in research design. They both
provide valuable options for researchers in the field. These techniques can either be used separately in
a research study or they can be combined to achieve maximum information. This paper will define the
terms qualitative and quantitative; describe the similarities and differences between each; discuss how
qualitative and/or quantitative research designs or techniques could be used in the evaluation of my
proposed research; and discuss why linking analysis to study design is important. Quantitative studies
are primarily numbers based. They deal with large cohort groups as well as analyze large amounts of
data. A quantitative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When both research designs are used together, more information can be gathered. Mixed methodology
uses the numerical portion of the quantitative study design in combination with the descriptive aspect
of the qualitative study. There are many similarities between these two designs, which make them
compatible with each other. Whilst quantitative research may be mostly used for testing theory it can
also be used for exploring an area and generating hypotheses and theory. Similarly qualitative research
can be used for testing hypotheses and theories even though it is mostly used for theory generation
(Hughes, 2006). Both of these designs may be similar with testing theory, they are also similar in the
tools that they use and how the data is analyzed. Qualitative data often includes quantification (eg
statements such as more than, less than, most as well as specific numbers). Quantitative (ie
questionnaire) approaches can collect qualitative data through open ended questions (Hughes, 2006).
These similarities are what make these two study designs compatible for each other. There are also
some differences between these study designs, which may cause some problems for the inexperienced
researcher. Quantitative research is objective; qualitative research is subjective. Quantitative research
seeks explanatory laws; qualitative research aims at

the past. Hospitals today are a lot different then how they were years ago. Many hospitals are making
medical advances to help people live longer, healthier lives. Health care is one of the most important
benefits to a persons life. There are so many things affecting the health of people all around the world,

and Schmid, A. 2008). In contrast, the United States established the Affordable Care Act (ACA),
which was implemented to improve access to health, improve quality of health, and make health care
more affordable. Historically, Americans were treated with medicinal herbs and anecdotal information
in their homes. Doctors were sole decision makers about admissions, length of stay, resource use, and
referrals. The U.S health care system changed by having hospital fiscal penalties for lengths of stay,
admissions require payer approval, and readmissions carry penalties. As well as, people are getting
treated in hospitals, primary care office, and rehabs, instead of their homes. Having access to
hospitals, and getting treated with these new drugs and new technologies, one would think that
everyone would get the same kind of health care. However, gender and ethnic disparities contribute to
many individuals having access to health care. Access to health is the determinant factor of the health
disparities. In the United States disparities are well documented in minority populations such as
African Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans and Hispanics, all of which constitute twenty
eight percent of the population (McHenry, G.). Ethnic disparities, indicators include social justice,
economic realities, shifting census, and disease burden. Latinos tend to have low access to care and
language barriers effecting both access and quality care. Studies show that

from then on, the rush west for gold was underway. In the next year, the news had spread across the

People came in a mad rush from all over the country in search of fortune in the gold fields; some came
from the military following the war with the Spanish, others came across land from the inner frontier,
while still others came via the ocean, from the east coast and even Australia; it was truly a

when the Sioux discovered that miners were flooding into Montana, they prepared for war. Moreover,
they were rather successful at it; an alliance of Sioux and Cheyanne forced the US to give up much of

I chose to do the effects of different disinfectants on bacteria because I have always wondered if
disinfectants such as Clorox, Lysol, and hand sanitizer actually kill 99.9 percent of germs. Also, I

Ernest Hemingway s The Big Two-Hearted River
Hemingway s 1925 short story, The Big Two Hearted River, originally from the collection of short
stories entitled In Our Time, engages in an introspective identity crisis, which arises after the book s
protagonist, Nick, returns from World War I. While Nick attempts to navigate his life outside of
combat, Hemingway takes him on a journey of reconciliation and self discovery. Embarking on his
journey into nature, Nick submerges himself in a life of what seems to be pure tranquility. In Nick s
eyes, society subjects people to violence, but nature is inherently good. Shortly after, Hemingway
provides Nick with tangible evidence opposing his original thoughts. Hemingway brings to light the
fact that both society and nature have subliminal binaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After experiencing moments of loss and violence, Nick chooses to return to the one place of constancy
he knows, which is nature. In nature, Nick believes that he can escape the brutality and hate that
humanity creates. Leaving behind the burned town of Seney and choosing to enter the natural world,
Nick [feels] he [has] left everything behind, the need for thinking, the need to write, other needs. It
was all back of him, (Hemingway 179). Hemingway subtly suggests that Nick has been plagued with
an endless list of realities that have consumed him for far too long. Nick s escape from reality provides
brief moments of solitude and rest from his bustling world. Amidst the burned and destroyed town of
Seney a river remains untouched, providing a symbol of hope. While Seney seems broken, the
possibility of new beginnings and life exists. This binary is parallel in Nick s life as well. Nick
actively chooses to pursue new beginnings instead of dwelling on the memories of his past, but is
quickly reminded that he cannot escape the parts of his life that play a large part in his identity.
Attempting to escape the pressing realities of life back home, Nick notices that the problems he
internalizes in his own life are apparent in nature as well. While fishing and rivers seems to be a place
of happiness and healing for Nick, reality finds a way to creep in. Looking at a trout in the river, Nick
s heart tightened as the trout moved. He felt all the old feeling, (Hemingway 178). Nick does not
reveal the old feeling or who/what is associated with that feeling. Instead, it can be recognized that a
tightened heart is a sign of tension and anxiety. Despite Nick s best efforts to escape his past seeking
comfort in the familiar, he finds that like his pack, he carries his past with him wherever he goes,

6. Why is A Modest Proposal an effective satire? What techniques does Swift use effectively? Support

clearly. His descriptions are extremely grotesque and he talks about a very feared subject, cannibalism.
This helps draw attention to the seriousness of the problem. Swift also provides statistics, which helps
further draw attention to the problem. Some techniques he uses are parody and exaggeration. He uses
exaggeration to get his point across and he uses parody to mock the situation. An example of his
effective use of satire is, I have already computed the charge of nursing a beggar s child (in which list
I reckon all cottagers, labourers, and four fifths of the farmers) to be about two shillings per annum,
rags included; and I believe no gentleman would repine to give ten shillings for the carcass of a good
fat child, which, as I have said, will make four dishes of excellent nutritive meat, when he hath only
some particular friend, or his own family to dine with him. Thus the squire will learn to be a good
landlord, and grow popular among his tenants, the mother will have eight shillings neat profit, and be

Discuss how these paragraphs impact his purpose. Swift provides support for each reason he presents

How Is Genesis 1-11 Related To Sociology
1. Genesis 1 3
On the sixth day of creation, God created Adam and gave him total dominion over the Garden of
Eden. After a period of time, God realized that it was not good for Adam to remain alone in the
Garden, and therefore created Eve from Adam s ribs. God allowed Adam and Eve to dwell in the
Garden of Eden but commanded that they did not eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and
Evil. However, a serpent later persuades Eve to pick an apple from the Tree, who then offers it to
Adam. God becomes very angry and casts them out from the Garden of Eden. The classical Disney
movie, Snow White, alludes to Adam and Eve. In the movie, an innocent and pure girl named Snow
White is offered a poisonous apple by a wicked witch. The witch claims that the apple was magical
and had the power to grant Snow White a wish. Snow White becomes convinced and takes a bite from
the apple, causing her to fall into a deep slumber. Both the serpent and witch used the art of
temptation, sin, and greed to lure their foe into committing wrong things.

children named Cal and Aron, whose names are very similar to Cain and Abel . Adam clearly favors
Aron over Cal just as God favored Abel over Cain. When Adam refuses to accept Cal s gift of
$15,000, Cal become infuriated and kills Aron by making him join the army. In both stories, a murder

3d Representation Research Paper
The use of 3D representation allows us to better understand the past and even to discover hidden
properties in the data we possess. One could create such 3D model from historical drawing and
integrate material and physical properties, which can enhance our knowledge of a particular building,
vessel, site or even a city from the past.
Researchers from EPFL used a CAD software to produce a high quality 3D model of the Venetian
Galeazza using ancient drawings found in history books. By using this model and selecting the correct
materials they created a realistic rendering of the ship and, by using a naval simulation tool, they were
able to compute a fine estimate of the center of gravity. Using the later, they could analyze the weights
distribution, and they were able to estimate the quantity of merchandise that the Galeazza could carry,
the position of the ammunition as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did Giovanni De Medici Family s Rise To Power
Giovanni di Bicci de Medici initiated the Medici family s rise to power during the Renaissance by
founding the Medici Bank. Giovanni was born in 1360 to his father, Averardo de Medici, and his
mother, Jacopo, Spini. Although Giovanni was not born into a wealthy family he got his start working
in bank management beside Vieri di Cambio de Medici. Vieri taught Giovanni about banking and in
1385 Giovanni ran the Rome branch of Vieira s bank (Cole 1). After Vieri retired Giovanni gained
control of the business and founded the Medici Bank in 1397. He relocated the headquarters of the
bank to Florence while preserving the branch in Rome. In addition to relocating the headquarters, by
1402 the Medici Bank had spread its branches throughout Rome and Venice. ... Show more content on

The banker became very good friends with the pope of the time, Antipope John XXIII, where
Giovanni de Medici became well established as his banker. Furthermore this gave Giovanni s bank
more credibility. In 1421, he also served as Gonfaloniere of Justice, a government position during the
medieval and Renaissance period (Cole 1). In 1386, he married Piccarda Bueri and later had his first
son in 1389 named Cosimo di Giovanni de Medici. Presumably by the time of Giovanni s death, the
Medici Bank was flourishing and Giovanni s fortune was worth around 180,000 gold florins (Cole 1).
Due to the banking empire Giovanni established, this directly leads to Cosimo Medici becoming the

The Epic of Gilgamesh
The story about Gilgamesh is one of the earliest pieces of world literature dating back to the second
millennium B.C.E. This story has been evolved gradually over a long span of a millennium, and has
been enjoyed by many nations. The Epic of Gilgamesh teaches life lessons that apply to the past and
present while revolving around the question of what it means to be human, and to experience the
phenomenon of friendship, love, and death.
Notably, the thing about human life is that everyone desires friendship or to be simply not be alone. In
the story of the epic of Gilgamesh talks about how friendship changed his whole life. Gilgamesh used
to be a terrible ruler led by arrogance, and brutality of his people. He was overconsumed with power,
therefore doing whatever he wanted whenever he wanted. It seemed that Gilgamesh grew bored of
life, and had a deep hole in his heart as such something was missing from his life. One day Gilgamesh
told his mother I want a friend for my own counselor, for my own Counselor do I want a friend
(Foster 106). He needed someone to confide in as well as talk too about his plans and future.
Gilgamesh had everything in his life from riches to power, but it seemed like the thing he craved more
than success was someone to take the journey beside him. In a

Imagine living the life where every step and move you take are controlled by the world. Some people
lead their lives where they are watched around the entire world, which means that, all actions that
these individuals took are judged by society and communities. People around the world are expecting
excellent result and perfect decision from these people. Well, this is how celebrities lives are and their
expectation. They do all they can to stay on top and to make differences in their everyday lives. Most
of the time the world has the mindset that being a celebrity is all about happiness and wealth.

people s lives in numerous ways and those who choose to become celebrities they should be aware of
these effects before they choose this fuel.
Additionally, celebrities do not have private life. Every step and action they take are watched.
Apparently, when one is a celebrity his or her life is not theirs any more. One may go through
difficulties situations in life, no matter how hard the person can pretend to not share his or her
problems; it will be still known in public. For example, Moise Mbiye, one of the Gospel musician in

power in the state oblige him to marry. They told him that if he decided not to marry, is going to lose

Amistad War
The touchiest issue that somebody can bring up in the early nineteenth century is slavery. The
Amistad, paradoxically a ship that means companionship, was the location of one of the utmost
historic slave upheavals ran by black Africans in 1839. This rebellion gained substantial attention from
the American population, the media, as well as other intercontinental interests. It was the black
insurgence on board the Amistad that ignited the fundamental concerns of legislations, slavery,
sectionalism, faith, trade rights, and anti British sentiment that had previously beleaguered the country
at the time of the Amistad event. The controversy drew the whole world into the battle over social and
property rights, a dispute that alienated our nation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The north and south became progressively separated over slavery and states rights to create
regulations that affect their citizens. Amistad emphasizes the firmly entrenched divisions between the
North and South, especially when it comes to the institution of slavery during the trial between the
two sides. When the judge grants freedom to the slaves the opposing side was very upset and was not
afraid to show their feelings. Also, there was a coincidence in the movie when the slave s lawyer had
been struck on the head by someone who disagreed with his actions. This shows the tension between
the north and the south because so many people invested their time and heart into this that trial for the
slaves to be able to go back to their homeland.
Eric Foner, a professor at History at Columbia University states that, Amistad presents a highly
misleading account of the case s historical significance, in the process sugarcoating the relationship
between the American judiciary and slavery. The film gives the distinct impression that the Supreme
Court was convinced by Adams plea to repudiate slavery in favor of the natural rights of man, thus
taking a major step on the road to abolition. By this, Foner is stating that the movie is not as
historically accurate as it could have

Similarities Between Latin American And Caribbean
Latin American and Caribbean are one of the richest countries when it comes to natural resources. The
natural resources that they have are some of the most useful ones in the world and that consists of
gold, oil, iron, sugar and many more. World Bank stated that Latin America produced around 80
percent of the world s silver in the 16th through 19th centuries, fueling the monetary systems of not
only Europe, but China and India as well . This shows that Latin America had so much natural
resources that others depended on them. Since Latin America and the Caribbean has all of this

During the past few years the tourism in these countries has increased which helps them get more
money in the country and make the economy grow a little but this is not going to help the country s
GDP increase a lot because this is only one part of the income that contributes to all of the Latin
American and Caribbean countries. In Regional Economic Outlook: Western Hemisphere Northern
Spring, Southern Chills It was stated that Latin America and the Caribbean are the known spot for
tourist destinations . This shows us that the Latin America and the Caribbean are beautiful places but
their economy just isn t doing the best. Also tourism is not the only source of income for the countries
because these countries also hves oil which is one of the leading asset in Latin America and Caribbean
economy. There was also a sharp drop in oil prices in 2014 and cheaper oil is creating significant
relief, which is cutting import bills by 3 4 percentage points of the GDP on average. This helps other
countries look at Latin America and Caribbean as places to get cheap oil. This will ultimately help
Latin America and Caribbean get some money for their economy which will increase the

Analysis Of The Movie Iron Road
Iron Road has successfully shown why Chinese workers came to Canada in the 1880s as well as the
challenges they confronted. Most of the film s storyline occurs in China, where it uses the point of
view of a Chinese peasant called Little Tiger, to display the daily struggles of the Chinese. The setting
is full of war and destruction, thus destroying many farms resulting in famine and poverty. This has
resulted in peasants having insufficient funds to support themselves and making them live in
unsanitary living spaces. As a result, this gave the workers more reason to move to Canada as there
was also better income and resources there. However, once they arrived in Canada, they discover that
the conditions there weren t as good as they thought. Although they had a better income than they did
in China, there was a lot of discrimination, dangerous working conditions and horrible living spaces.
There was worse pay for the Chinese workers and they had to do the most life threatening jobs like
working with explosives as well as working on the side of a cliff with no harnesses. Throughout the
film, Iron Road has used the setting, characters and point of view of a Chinese peasant to show that
there were horrible conditions and chaos in China, as well as the racism, dangerous working
conditions and poor living space the peasants faced in Canada.
Using the point of view of Little Tiger, the setting and the characters, Iron Road has included those
factors to help explain why the

A Brief Introduction to Methods of Word Formation in English
A Brief Introduction to Methods of Word Formation in English
I. Introduction Linguistics is the scientific study of human language. Linguistics can be broadly
broken into three categories or subfields of study: language form, language meaning, and language in
context. The earliest known activities in descriptive linguistics have been attributed to Panini around
500 BCE, with his analysis of Sanskrit in Ashtadhyayi. The first subfield of linguistics is the study of
language structure, or grammar. This focuses on the system of ruled followed by the users of a
language. It includes the study of morphology (the formation and composition of words), syntax (the
formation and composition of phrases and sentences from these words), and ... Show more content on

There are many other examples of back formation in the English language.
3. Acronym An acronym is an abbreviation formed from the initial components in a phrase or a word.
These components may be individual letters (as in CEO) or parts of words (as in Benelux and
Ameslan). There is no universal agreement on the precise definition of various names for such
abbreviations nor on written usage. In English and most other languages, such abbreviations
historically had limited use, but they became much more common in the 20th century. Acronyms are a
type of word formation process, and they are viewed as a subtype of blending. There are many
different types of the word formation process acronym. Here are several pairs of them.
(1) Pronounced as a word, containing only initial letters, like the followings.
AIDS: acquired immune deficiency syndrome
NATO: North Atlantic Treaty Organization
Scuba: self contained underwater breathing apparatus
Laser: Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation
(2) Pronounced as a word, containing non initial letters

The American Of The Mexican Revolution
At the time before and during World War II white Americans considered themselves the only true
Americans. In the 1900s during the Mexican Revolution, many Mexicans migrated to the United
States, to escape the violence that came from a national uprising against Mexico s government. After
the Mexican Revolution, many Mexicans fought for the United States in World War II. Mexican
American patriotism helped to soften racist attitudes. Hector Perez Garcia was a Mexican American
Rights advocate, looking to change the poor treatment, disrespect, and discrimination directed at
Mexican Americans. Through modifying policies and laws with the American Government Issue
Forum, they changed treatment that Mexicans receive. Hector Garcia s childhood was ... Show more

In many states of the United States, particularly in Texas, Mexican Americans faced prejudice and

family Dr. Garcia s fight for survival and equality stood unshaken. Hector Garcia s youth was a lesson
(Sanchez Part 2). Dr. Garcia not only learned academically, but he learned through everyday life. He
learned how to cope and live with the discrimination that would persist into his adulthood.
During his educational career Dr. Garcia, was exposed to many different views of the Hispanic people.
In the strive to achieve his goals, Garcia pressed on and graduated from a segregated elementary
school and was told in high school by his English teacher, No Mexican American will ever [receive]
an A in my class (Yzaguirre). He continuously challenged inequality, in spite of segregation and
discrimination being constant in his everyday life. Hector Perez Garcia graduated high school with a
high academic standing despite growing up in poverty and with language barriers. Not once did he
believe those that said Mexican Americans could not thrive and succeed in a new world. He attended

Horizontal Integration In Star Wars And The Matrix
In the modern day transmedia world, developing a truly successful franchise proves to be challenging
against the ceaseless competition worldwide; hence, the concept of horizontal integration is of upmost
importance to amount to this objective. Ultimately, horizontal integration is the act of owning various
media enterprises which, in turn, can aid the original media outlet in creating an overall more
successful franchise. Two of the world s largest media companies, The Walt Disney Company and
Time Warner (Larivière, 2015.), endorse this system as a means of expanding their universal appeal to
consumers, as well as enhancing their ranking in the world of media; consequently, generating more
profit and achieving the status of a successful transmedia franchise . Perhaps the two most renowned
media franchises owned by these respective companies are Star Wars and The Matrix, which

The success of both epidemics proves to be as a result of intertwining the story world as a whole
through multiple texts to create a narrative so large that it cannot be contained within a single medium
(Jenkins, 2016). Transmedia story telling ultimately relies on horizontal integration to achieve success.
As Jenkins (2011) states, elements of a fiction get dispersed systematically across multiple delivery
channels for the purpose of creating a unified and coordinated entertainment experience. In other
words, contemporary franchises need to break the boundaries of traditionally telling a story within a
set media outlet; instead, branching out this story world into different medias to achieve a maximum
fan base through areas of consumer interest. For example, Disney holds ownership of the Star Wars

Pros And Cons Of College Tuition
College tuition should not be free in any means necessary. Students would not take college seriously if
there was no price. College students would totally take advantage of the opportunity to go to college
for free and completely blow it , it would even the playing field for everyone to be equal because
college tuition is what keeps everyone else out. College would then be accessible to anyone who
wanted to go. Tuition is put in place for a reason. It shouldn t be lifted because if it is the government
will end up having to come out of more money to fund the things that more of the college students
need as such as books, computer labs etc. By the government needing more funding that would mean
the taxpayers taxes would have to increase without their say so it wouldn t even be an option.
According to dissent magazine, Bruenig (2015 ) states The main problem with free college is that
most students come from disproportionately well off backgrounds and already enjoy
disproportionately well off futures, which makes them relatively uncompelling targets for public
transfers with that being stated . I feel like no one should get a free handout especially those who are
of the well off status. Why should they get everything so easy? Make them work for it. By making
tuition free you would just basically be handing them a degree without having to work hard for it.
when there is money at hand, (tuition) college is taken seriously. Can you imagine how would society
be impacted if tuition be free. The world be equal because the playing field would be neutral territory.
Everyone would be granted the same opportunity to earn money at a higher pay rate and looked upon
with great gratitude just for receiving a degree. Colleges would be extremely too crowded, resources
would be extremely scarce as far as paper, textbooks, etc. referring to Bruenig (2015) Given these
class based differences in attendance levels, institutional selection, and current student benefit levels,
making college free for everyone would almost certainly mean giving far more money to students
from richer families than from poorer ones . This statement is totally correct. Why would we put more
money in the pockets of those who are well off?. In

Comparison Of The Prince And The Sphinx
Literature is a part of every civilization in the world and numerous works from different cultures often
parallel one another. In Ancient Egypt, between the paws of the Great Sphinx, lies a fourteen foot red
granite tablet. This tablet, known as the Dream Stele, is inscribed with the tale of The Prince and The
Sphinx. This story is about the prince, Thutmose IV, and his unusual interaction with the god,
Harmachis or Horus in the Horizon, who is a manifestation of the sun god and is often depicted as a
sphinx (Hornung, 130). This story is not unique to Ancient Egypt since there is a similar story found
in the Bible. In the first book of the Bible, Genesis, there is the story of Joseph. Joseph, a shepherd
from Canaan, was an interpreter of dreams who found himself in quite the predicament. Both of these
tales have uncanny similarities to each other.
The first parallel between the two stories is that both Thutmose IV and Joseph had many brothers and
half brothers who hated them because they were the favorite sons. Their brothers held such jealousy
against them that they tried to kill them. In the tale of The Prince and The Sphinx, Thutmose IV was
the Pharaoh s favourite son, because of this his brothers were forever plotting against him...the plots
were aimed at his very life (Green, 57). The same is true for Joseph, Israel loved Joseph more than any
of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age...When his brothers saw that their
father loved him more

How Is Music Formed
When listening to music do you ever wonder how it was formed? We do not think about that. So how
is music formed? Music is formed when a sound is produced when something vibrates. The vibrating
body causes the medium around it to vibrate. With the vibrations moving in the air they are called
traveling longitudinal waves. Longitudinal waves allow us to hear. By allowing us to hear, it allows
high and low pressure to form called compression and rarefaction. What behaviors do air vibrations
cause? They cause a Standing wave. A standing wave is the result of the wave reflecting off the end of
the tube and interfering with itself. Vibration inside a tube forms a standing wave. When sound is

  • 2. The Articles Of The Constitution Throughout America s history, the very confederation of her people has been weak and even suffered near fatal blows, and yet that nation still stands today. However, the very backbone of the democracy which so many revere, the Constitution, was once abhorred and feared as a much stronger government than such a democracy should allow. The government, at the time, was inept and subject to the rule of each near independent state, not able to tax without begging, nor able to regulate the quickening and worsening conflicts in trade and monetary production between those states. Taking into account these ineptitudes, compounded by the foreign intrusions which peppered the eighteenth century, the Articles of Confederation was not only an ... Further telling of the inability of the Articles was the internal struggles not only within the USA, but within her own government. John Jay was an influential statesman of his time, and the delegate to Spain as well, but many know him for that which he is most famous: Jay s Treaty. During the eighteenth century, Britain and the United States maintained a tenuous relationship as naval skirmishes and impressment of American sailors continued. The US could not stand any more, and so the delegation to England was ordered to, in a respectful but firm manner insist that the United States be put, without further delay, into possession of all the posts and territories within their limits, ... • 3. The Growing Problem of Food Intolerance Food intolerance has been a growing problem. Symptoms can vary anywhere from nausea, skin rashes, anemia, depressions to nutritional deficiencies as well as thyroid disease, kidney failure and cancer. This research paper explores information regarding food intolerance looking specifically at the role of gluten on the immune system and how an elimination diet plays a role. Gluten is a protein found in most cereal grains and is consumed in greater quantities than any other form of protein. It has been estimated that 6% to 7% of the U.S population have been diagnosed to be gluten sensitive, bringing that number to almost 20 million people. Intolerance to gluten relates to gastrointestinal problems which include diarrhea, bloating and might result in consumption. Other body systems that are affected are the central and peripheral nervous systems, the integumentary system and the endocrine system. Berstad et al at Oslo s Lovisenberg Diaconale Hospital studied 84 participants who have been referred to gastroenterologists for digestive problems which the patients think are caused by sensitivities to certain kinds of foods. The results of the study showed that all by one participant was qualified for irritable bowel syndrome. In addition, 85% had symptoms indicating chronic fatigue syndrome and 74% showed symptoms of fibromyalgia. In children, the neurodevelopmental disorders such as ASD, autism spectrum disorders, have been on the increase since 1980 and with an average of 4.3:1 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Football Informative Essay Injury plague in the NFL catalyst for greater innovation The game of football is still in its infancy. The invention of the forward pass and its official adoption in 1906 is proof positive that fundamentally the game has room to advance. By all accounts, the forward pass was the invention that saved the game of football after a great rugby player from Yale in the 1880s, Walter Camp, pioneered rules changes that slowly transformed rugby into the new game of American Football. Birth of Pro Football Player safety has been the catalyst for football evolution. A fact currently supported by the NFL s 1st and Future initiative dealing with this very topic and others. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell @nflcommish gets booed often but, in my opinion, he was right to legislate the violent hits out of the NFL. The wave of change has now begun and history seems to be repeating itself. Former NFL players settled a 1 billion dollar lawsuit that accused the NFL of hiding the risks of repeated concussions in order to return players to the field. The deal avoids the need for a trial and means the NFL might never have to disclose what it knew, and when. Safety innovation remarkable influence on the NFL s killer past The precedent for this next wave of innovation was set by events that triggered the forward pass well over 120 years ago. After several serious and fatal injuries resulting from close formation offenses, protests came from men in high places...even President Theodore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Plethysmograph Essay The History of Polygraph Since the beginning of time, people have been looking for ways to distinguish the truth from the lies in people who were suspected of committing crimes. Many techniques were tried over the centuries, many of these techniques stemmed from ridiculous and cruel. Many of these techniques were based on the assumption that a physiological reaction would have occurred when a person was confronted with details specific events. When questioned, the person s physiological reaction to these events would show symptoms that they were either being honest or deceitful. The purpose of this experiment is to determine whether adding vegetable puree to cupcakes increases the moisture content. No one likes a dry cupcake, so if there is a way to add moisture, then this should happen. Another benefit to this experiment is that by adding vegetable puree it can be a healthier alternative as opposed to normal cupcakes. The experiment was interesting because baking is something that is done very often, and is always great to find ways to improve the food. • 9. Ellen Foster, Lord Of The Flies, And To Kill A Mockingbird... Over the summer I was exposed to a new and adventurous side of literature. From a plane crash and savagery, to racial issues, and child suffrage, it honestly widened my view on life s hardships. Reading Ellen Foster, Lord of the Flies, and To Kill a Mockingbird truly stretched my imagination. Each book had their own twists and turns, but I believe they all linked in amazing ways. One way all three novels connected in my opinion, would be how tenacious kids are when they are required to overcome adversity. In Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, there is a plane crash which abandoned a large amount of boys with no parental guidance on an island stranded with no food, water, or an easily accessible shelter. The boys struggled to survive through the whole book and ended up turning on each other because of a disagreement of what is more important, a signal fire or hunting. A quote from this book reads, Kill the pig! Cut his throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in! (Golding page. 104). This quote displays what Jack believes is the right path for the boys surviving on the island. Ralph on the other hand, had a different approach of obtaining order. This quote explains just that, We ve got to have rules and obey them. After all, we re not savages. We re English, and the English are best at everything. (Golding page. 40). Similarly qualitative research can be used for testing hypotheses and theories even though it is mostly used for theory generation (Hughes, 2006). Both of these designs may be similar with testing theory, they are also similar in the tools that they use and how the data is analyzed. Qualitative data often includes quantification (eg statements such as more than, less than, most as well as specific numbers). Quantitative (ie questionnaire) approaches can collect qualitative data through open ended questions (Hughes, 2006). In contrast, the United States established the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which was implemented to improve access to health, improve quality of health, and make health care more affordable. Historically, Americans were treated with medicinal herbs and anecdotal information in their homes. Doctors were sole decision makers about admissions, length of stay, resource use, and referrals. The U.S health care system changed by having hospital fiscal penalties for lengths of stay, admissions require payer approval, and readmissions carry penalties. As well as, people are getting treated in hospitals, primary care office, and rehabs, instead of their homes. Having access to hospitals, and getting treated with these new drugs and new technologies, one would think that everyone would get the same kind of health care. However, gender and ethnic disparities contribute to many individuals having access to health care. Access to health is the determinant factor of the health disparities. In the next year, the news had spread across the country, and even President Polk began telling the nation about the gold to be found in California. People came in a mad rush from all over the country in search of fortune in the gold fields; some came from the military following the war with the Spanish, others came across land from the inner frontier, while still others came via the ocean, from the east coast and even Australia; it was truly a monumental movement of humanity, all fueled by the lust for gold and the fortunes it brought. The events of Cherokee displacement were reappearing in California, and in Colorado in 1859, the Cheyanne s fell to the same fate. Ernest Hemingway s The Big Two-Hearted River Hemingway s 1925 short story, The Big Two Hearted River, originally from the collection of short stories entitled In Our Time, engages in an introspective identity crisis, which arises after the book s protagonist, Nick, returns from World War I. While Nick attempts to navigate his life outside of combat, Hemingway takes him on a journey of reconciliation and self discovery. Embarking on his journey into nature, Nick submerges himself in a life of what seems to be pure tranquility. In Nick s eyes, society subjects people to violence, but nature is inherently good. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After experiencing moments of loss and violence, Nick chooses to return to the one place of constancy he knows, which is nature. In nature, Nick believes that he can escape the brutality and hate that humanity creates. Leaving behind the burned town of Seney and choosing to enter the natural world, Nick [feels] he [has] left everything behind, the need for thinking, the need to write, other needs. It was all back of him, (Hemingway 179). Hemingway subtly suggests that Nick has been plagued with an endless list of realities that have consumed him for far too long. Nick s escape from reality provides brief moments of solitude and rest from his bustling world. Amidst the burned and destroyed town of Seney a river remains untouched, providing a symbol of hope. While Seney seems broken, the possibility of new beginnings and life exists. This binary is parallel in Nick s life as well. Nick actively chooses to pursue new beginnings instead of dwelling on the memories of his past, but is quickly reminded that he cannot escape the parts of his life that play a large part in his identity. Attempting to escape the pressing realities of life back home, Nick notices that the problems he internalizes in his own life are apparent in nature as well. While fishing and rivers seems to be a place of happiness and healing for Nick, reality finds a way to creep in. Looking at a trout in the river, Nick s heart tightened as the trout moved. Discuss the tone of the piece. Pull examples from the text to support your discussion. Swift showed disgust for the people who would rather beg than take care of themselves. He says, These mothers instead of being able to work for their honest livelihood, are forced to employ all their time in strolling to beg sustenance for their helpless infants who, as they grow up, either turn thieves for want of work, or leave their dear native country, to fight for the Pretender in Spain, or sell themselves to the Barbados. 3. Support your answers with examples from the text. It is an effective satire because it gets the point across very clearly. His descriptions are extremely grotesque and he talks about a very feared subject, cannibalism. This helps draw attention to the seriousness of the problem. Swift also provides statistics, which helps further draw attention to the problem. Some techniques he uses are parody and exaggeration. He uses exaggeration to get his point across and he uses parody to mock the situation. An example of his effective use of satire is, I have already computed the charge of nursing a beggar s child (in which list I reckon all cottagers, labourers, and four fifths of the farmers) to be about two shillings per annum, rags included; and I believe no gentleman would repine to give ten shillings for the carcass of a good fat child, which, as I have said, will make four dishes of excellent nutritive meat, when he hath only some particular friend, or his own family to dine with him. Thus the squire will learn to be a good landlord, and grow popular among his tenants, the mother will have eight shillings neat profit, and be fit for work till she produces another child. 7. After a period of time, God realized that it was not good for Adam to remain alone in the Garden, and therefore created Eve from Adam s ribs. God allowed Adam and Eve to dwell in the Garden of Eden but commanded that they did not eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. However, a serpent later persuades Eve to pick an apple from the Tree, who then offers it to Adam. God becomes very angry and casts them out from the Garden of Eden. The classical Disney movie, Snow White, alludes to Adam and Eve. In the movie, an innocent and pure girl named Snow White is offered a poisonous apple by a wicked witch. The witch claims that the apple was magical and had the power to grant Snow White a wish. Snow White becomes convinced and takes a bite from the apple, causing her to fall into a deep slumber. Researchers from EPFL used a CAD software to produce a high quality 3D model of the Venetian Galeazza using ancient drawings found in history books. By using this model and selecting the correct materials they created a realistic rendering of the ship and, by using a naval simulation tool, they were able to compute a fine estimate of the center of gravity. Also, there was a coincidence in the movie when the slave s lawyer had been struck on the head by someone who disagreed with his actions. This shows the tension between the north and the south because so many people invested their time and heart into this that trial for the slaves to be able to go back to their homeland. Eric Foner, a professor at History at Columbia University states that, Amistad presents a highly misleading account of the case s historical significance, in the process sugarcoating the relationship between the American judiciary and slavery. Most of the film s storyline occurs in China, where it uses the point of view of a Chinese peasant called Little Tiger, to display the daily struggles of the Chinese. The setting is full of war and destruction, thus destroying many farms resulting in famine and poverty. This has resulted in peasants having insufficient funds to support themselves and making them live in unsanitary living spaces. As a result, this gave the workers more reason to move to Canada as there was also better income and resources there. However, once they arrived in Canada, they discover that the conditions there weren t as good as they thought. Although they had a better income than they did in China, there was a lot of discrimination, dangerous working conditions and horrible living spaces. There was worse pay for the Chinese workers and they had to do the most life threatening jobs like working with explosives as well as working on the side of a cliff with no harnesses. Throughout the film, Iron Road has used the setting, characters and point of view of a Chinese peasant to show that there were horrible conditions and chaos in China, as well as the racism, dangerous working conditions and poor living space the peasants faced in Canada. College students would totally take advantage of the opportunity to go to college for free and completely blow it , it would even the playing field for everyone to be equal because college tuition is what keeps everyone else out. College would then be accessible to anyone who wanted to go. Tuition is put in place for a reason. It shouldn t be lifted because if it is the government will end up having to come out of more money to fund the things that more of the college students need as such as books, computer labs etc. By the government needing more funding that would mean the taxpayers taxes would have to increase without their say so it wouldn t even be an option. According to dissent magazine, Bruenig (2015 ) states The main problem with free college is that most students come from disproportionately well off backgrounds and already enjoy disproportionately well off futures, which makes them relatively uncompelling targets for public transfers with that being stated . I feel like no one should get a free handout especially those who are of the well off status. Why should they get everything so easy? Make them work for it. By making tuition free you would just basically be handing them a degree without having to work hard for it. when there is money at hand, (tuition) college is taken seriously. Can you imagine how would society be impacted if tuition be free. The world be equal because the playing field would be neutral territory. Everyone would be granted the same opportunity to earn money at a higher pay rate and looked upon with great gratitude just for receiving a degree. Colleges would be extremely too crowded, resources would be extremely scarce as far as paper, textbooks, etc. referring to Bruenig (2015) Given these class based differences in attendance levels, institutional selection, and current student benefit levels, making college free for everyone would almost certainly mean giving far more money to students from richer families than from poorer ones . This story is about the prince, Thutmose IV, and his unusual interaction with the god, Harmachis or Horus in the Horizon, who is a manifestation of the sun god and is often depicted as a sphinx (Hornung, 130). This story is not unique to Ancient Egypt since there is a similar story found in the Bible. In the first book of the Bible, Genesis, there is the story of Joseph. Joseph, a shepherd from Canaan, was an interpreter of dreams who found himself in quite the predicament. Both of these tales have uncanny similarities to each other.
