1. Production Diary

2. Day 1
• I first Downloaded the footage
from my SD cards and organised
my files. I then added my files into
a new preimer document and
have been looking through hevery
single video, taking out the clips I
want and adding them into my
timeline.

3. Day 1
• I have spent the past 30 minuets looking
through music on upbeat.io and have
downloaded a few sounds I think would
match the beat that I want.
• I have added an adjustment layer, starting
off by adding a basic s curve to the video.
• I have started working on after effects
creating a title side.
• I downloaded a font for it and have
watched the tutorial.

4. Day 1
• I have now found that the college removed the file with all my
music in off of the desktop and have reinstalled the missing
music, locating it in the right file.
• I have added the text in and used key frames for animations of
opacity, position and tracking.
• I encounter a problem which was trying to place the anchor
point in the centre of the text, as it was looking kinda weird
without. I looked it up and found that the is an anchor point
tool and that I can press control to get it to automatically align.
• I have also discovered the graph editor tool, which allows me to
make the transitions a lot smother with a curve on speed when
pressing f9.
• I have used the animation effect on after effecst to create a nice
text animation and rendered the clip, adding it into my premier
pro work space.

5. Day 2
I have added my text animation into the timeline, creating a flicker
effect that goes to the beat of the music by removing footage on the
beat and then adding t in the next frame.
I have also added a warp stabilize onto some of my footage to make
up for some of the hand held tremors.
I am now creating a backdrop on photoshop for the York Minster
title card. I have first adjusted the brightness as the image was a little
dark. I used the quick selection tool to select the sky and make it
bluer, refining it around the edges and using magic wand to select
some of the littler bits.
I have also added some clouds into the background, duplicating the
sky selected area and deleting it from the main image, so I could
overlay some clouds onto the background but behind the minster
I then also added a soft light adjustment layer, selecting the statue
and giving it an overlay of a bit more of a lighter green to make it
pop more.
I have also added 2 screen layers of orange to the image, one of
which is wider and more opaque, so to add a bit of gentle orange
spreading out onto the building and image as a whole, with a smaller
less opaque layer further in the corner to recreate the feel of the
suns rays.

6. Day 2
• I am now putting my transition video through media encoder, as I
discovered it is about 3GB in size, and I know it doesn’t need to be
this large of a file for a 1080p 10 second video. The result is the video
is now 3000th of the size, getting rid of the unnecessary meta data.

7. Day 2
• I have continued assembling my footage and am downloading sound
effects from the free use sounds website ‘freesound.org’, I have
downloaded a wing flap sound and a bird call sound for one of my clips
which has birds in.
• I have put the bird wing flap sound on the cut between the clip with the
bird flapping its wings and the clip of a leaf falling. I also added some bird
sounds starting from the first clip and ending once the bird clip finishes,
with the wing flap breaking it up.
• I have been aligning 3 clips of my footage, one where I caught video of a
cyclist next to the river, another a row team and the last some swans. All of
these clips where heading in the same direction, so I’ve cut the clips to be
precisely 2 seconds long and with the movement continuing to move
across the clips.

8. Day 2
• I have now downloaded and added some more sounds to the clip. I
managed to found some audio of cars on a road, which I’ve added to
the clips at the start that have cars in, and faded out at the point
where it transitions to the text.
• I have also stabilized a lot of the footage. I have made the clip with
swans last longer and have created a subsequence for the clip, as I
know from my FMP last year that you can not change the speed time
duration on a stabilized clip.
• I have started to use the button for bringing just footage in with this
edit, as sound is unnecessary.

9. Day 2
• I’ve decided to stay in at break, and have download bike gear sounds and am
adding them into my timeline. In order to create the illusion of the sound
approaching (to match the footage) I have made it so the audio from the left
starts at +5Bd and then goes to +1Bd with the right hand side doing the inverse of
-5Bd to -1Bd. I then changed the level to fade in from a lower dB to a higher one.
So the sound gradually increases as it gets closer.

10. Day 3
Today I have finished off my segment on
York minster, adding some rotations and
matching up some shots.
I have also downloaded more music from
my one drive and upbeat.io. I downloaded
some Harry Potter Music and a harry
potter font and have added it into the
timeline, I am waiting to do the vfx effect
until I get home, as I can not download it
on this computer. I am now moving onto
the next section and leaving this one until I
get home.

11. Day 3
I have been adding a clipping mask on a clip where a buss passes by the
camera, as I want to have it reveal and then zoom out, but my zoom
out clip was recorded much later in the clip, however, I do not think
this will look too strange, as the lighting, position and scale where all
pretty much the same. However the cut was just too jumpy, so I
decided to add a clipping mask and adjust it for each frame of the buss
passing by, and add it over my other footage of it zooming out.

12. Day 4
• I have create an After effects text animation in the style of a Harry
Potter Patronus, I did this by repeating my learnings from a previous
effect I did last year. I used a plugin called saber on a composition
layer, created text in the harry potter font that says ‘The Shambles’
and then layer traced it, copying the layer masks onto the saber layer
and then deleting the text. I then changed a few of the plugin settings
so that it would trace the text, messing around with some of the finer
values, and colours to get my desired outlook.

13. Day 5
I have added my Patronus text effect to my edit of the shambles, using
a screen overlay option to get rid of the background.
I have also started editing my Fossgates section of the work, speeding
up sections in a bit of footage, where I kept the camera still on 3
different parts of a restaurants sign, rotating the camera quickly across
to each one. I sped up the movements as I thought that it didn’t look
right, it now has my desired outlook.
