2. What will you be using to edit your main
documentary ?
• After I had recorded all of my clips I
exported them on to premiere pro this is
where I would edit the entirety of my
documentary. Premier pro is a editing
software made by adobe. Premiere pro is
used by many people in the media industry
due the amount of tools the offer.
3. Step 1
After I dragged all of my clips into premier
pro I began to rewatch them to see what
would need to edit. In this image I use the
razor tool on the left to create to cuts in my
clip. After I had made the two cuts I used the
backspace key on my keyboard to remove
the unwanted piece of the clip. I then
dragged the two wanted clips back together
to make one clip
4. 2
• This is what it looks like once the
clips where in order
5. 3
After my clips where in order
and the story flowed, I
needed to add in some b roll.
This would help engage the
viewer by keeping them
interested in the topic my
showing the images that
relate to the topic. In this
example I found an image on
google that I liked and that
would fit, I saved the image
and dragged it onto premier
pro over the clip I wanted the
b roll on. However, there was
a problem the image was too
small and did not cover the
entirety of the screen. I used
the scale tool to increase the
size of the image until it fit
the entirety of the screen. I
would repeat this with most
of the images I imported for
my b roll.
6. 4
• One of the problems that I had with one of my images was
that it cropped out the head of the person in my image to
solve this issue I used the position tool.
• As you can see there are two number in the position tool I
adjusted the second number until the head of the person in
my image was visible. The second number makes the image
move up and down depending on if you increase or decrease
the number. However if I had used the first number in the
position toll it would haver made the image move left or right
depending on If I increased or decreased the number.
7. 5
• For my documentary I did not use a mic for the
segment that I recorded at home this made my audio
quite quiet to solve this issue I right clicked on the
piece of audio I wanted to make louder, I then
selected audio gain. After I had done this I increased
the audio level to 9.7db this made it a lot easier to
understand what I was speaking about.
8. 6
• After my first draft some of the feedback I received
was to remove the clips of my cast walking in and out of
frame I done this with three of the 4 clips however on
the final clip if I cut the clip or cropped it down it would
have made it look unprofessional as my actor is still
saying her line while standing up. However, I didn’t
want to waist time with this clip, so I used the razor tool
like in step one and increased the duration or my clip by
right clicking and selecting duration. Once I had
selected duration, I increased the speed to 200%
however this was too fast and looked unnatural, so I
tried again and set the speed too 150% which worked.
• I had to repeat this step twice as you can see in the
highlighted circle there are two clips the clip highlighted
in the yellow circle is linked to the audio so I also had to
speed these up so that the clip on top would link up
with the audio
9. Documentary into and outro ?
• When I filmed the intro for my documentary I done it out
side of college. I also edited at home on a free iPhone app
called vivavideo. I have used this app in the past and new
that it had the right effects that I wanted to use for my
intro.
10. 7
• Before I brought my clips into vivavideo I added some
effects to the clips to make the clip seem brighter and more
colorful as when I filmed on the day it was quite dark. I also
wanted to make it brighter so that the audience would get
the impression that it is meant to be happy.
11. 8
•I split the clip in two places to
create a new clip I then used the
speed tool to slow the clip down
after this I changed the colour of
the clip to black and white
12. 9
• By clicking the button highlighted in red it allows
me to add a transition between clips I used glitch 5
which made the effect that my clip faded from
colour to black and white.
13. 10
• To make the glitch effect seem more real to do this I
needed to download the sound effect from YouTube after
this I converted this to a file which would allow me to drag
it on to vivavideo.
14. 11
• Finally, I added text at the end of the intro
• I then exported this intro into premier pro to add the
theme music the reason I wanted to add the other
audio on premier pro is because I wanted to be able
fade it from my dialog at the beginning of the
documentary
15. 12
The green audio at the bottom is the music I
used the razor tool to make a mark on the
audio where the beast drop was this would
help me time up the audio with the beat
drop of the video. I faded the audio in from
when I was talking then faded the audio out
at the end of the intro
