Gospel Of Thomas Similarities
Similarities and difference between The Gospel of Thomas and other among the Biblical Gospel.
The Gospel of Thomas, like many other early Christian s works are belong to the apocryphal
scriptures and are collections of traditional sayings or stories of Jesus or his apostles. This logion
or saying is attributed to Didymos, the twin, Juda Thomas. In the study and analysis of the Gospel
of Thomas, let us do the history of the book to better be in the spirit of time and space of the story

analysis. Similarities and differences of this document and other materials of the same approach

Jesus said, If your leaders say to you, Look, the (Father s) kingdom is in the sky, then the birds of
the sky will precede you. If they say to you, It is in the sea, then the fish will precede you.
Rather, the (Father s) kingdom is within you and it is outside you. When you know yourselves,

The Constitution And Freedom Of The United States
The Constitution and Freedom The process of debating the guiding document of the new nation,
provided the opportunity for 55 delegates to reflect on a national argument. The key issue of
strong central government verses strong states provided the dividing line between Federalists and
Anti Federalists and would be seen as the underlying theme for many of the debates. Writing as
Brutus, Robert Yates stated it succinctly, The most important question that was ever posed to your
decision, or to the decision of any people under heaven, is before you... (1787). The Anti
Federalists were concerned with maintaining freedom. The states had just fought a battle to remove
themselves from the tyranny of English control. To give up significant amounts of power to a
centralized entity would undermine what they had accomplished in winning their freedom. The
states were individually named in the Declaration of Independence and the Treaty of Paris
recognized them as free sovereign and independent states. Several steps were taken to ensure the
new federal government would not become simply a replacement for Britain as the ruler of the
states. Representation The first step towards ensuring their freedom was to establish how the states
would be represented in the new Federal government. Some form of elected or chosen
representation was needed to ensure that the states would have a direct hand in determining the
laws of the new country. The original plan proposed by Virginia

3. Male leaders put tasks before relationships Men are considered to set tasks before relationships,
while women on the other hand are more people oriented and focus more on establishing
interpersonal relationships. They are warmer and softer compared to their male counterparts.
4. Male leaders are more inclined to an authoritative style
Male leaders more frequently operate in mediums bound by hierarchy, status, rules and orders. In
contrast, women normally function with connectivity and closeness as paramount. For women,
status and hierarchy are not key and women are not predisposed to giving orders, but rather express
preferences and suggestions which are likely accepted.
5. Male leaders communicate to the point
Male leaders usually keep it short and sweet. No personal talk, just down to business and go.
Female leaders on the other hand talk on a more personal note while addressing subordinates.
According to Rolf GranГ©r there are general scattered attitudes which make men and women
function differently (GranГ©r, 1994). Those attitudes are the following:
Male properties| Female properties| Result oriented| Relation oriented| Logical| Intuitive|
Independent| Dependent| Focused on competition| Cooperativeness| Restrained| Emotional|

Cassius Dio s Roles Of The Empire And Augustus
Cassius Dio insists the empire and Augustus owe an extraordinary amount to Gaius Maecenas,
Marcus Agrippa, and to a lesser extent, Livia. While the empire had problems with stability from
time to time, the three of them had their roles in cultivating prosperity. The role of lifelong friend
and confidante is attributed to Agrippa, as his loyalty ceased to cultivate throughout the years. The
trifecta aided Augustusin ruling and improving the empire, while sporadically corralling the
Octavian mindset inside of Augustus. Augustus single handedly appointed Agrippa to settle
disputes that arose on the frontier, and in Rome. He was the ultimate plug n play general of the
empire, and proved his worth early on until his death in 12 B.C through military ventures and
building projects. Gaius Maecenas had a profound impact on Augustus decision to retain the power
that he acquired after defeating Marc Antony and Cleopatra, which shaped the government into
what eventually existed in Dio s time. He also handled important business in Rome while the
emperor was absent, acting as a sit in caesar, if you will. Livia attempted to promote the women of
Rome, while also helping Augustus soothe relationships with the latter s enemies. However,
mischievous presumptions loom from Dio around Livia regarding certain disastrous events.
Nonetheless, without Livia, Maecenas, and especially Agrippa, Octavian might not have ever had
the chance to rule Rome. Cassius Dio portrays Marcus Vispanius Agrippa

Communicative Language Teaching ( Clt ) Approach
The field of second language learning has undergone, in the past few decades, many changes.
Nonetheless, from a variety of methods that have come and gone, one has been adopted as pioneer,
which is the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach. Nowadays, in fact,
Communicative Language Teaching is one of the most common teaching methods adopted by
teachers of second and foreign languages all over the world. Its origin can be found in the late
1960s early 1970s in the British academic system, which was undergoing a serious of changes that
reflected, none other than, the changes that were occurring in society. The aim of this paper is to
give an overview of what Communicative Language Teachingis, what are its main distinguishing
and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, American linguists, based on Chomsky s language acquisition theory and
concept of linguistic competence, started rejecting the Oral Approach. This was the contingent
cause for a shift in Britain s language teaching method, SLT. In fact, also Britain s linguists began
questioning SLT s practical and theoretical foundations. Therefore, both Chomsky s studies as well
as the criticality British linguists had towards the more traditional methodologies led to the advent
of the Communicative Language Teaching approach.
This approach was very advanced for the time. It revolutionised the strategies of language learning
and also changed the role of the language teachers as well as the language learners. In contrast with
some of the methodologies previously adopted, its main goal is to teach the scholars the ability to
communicate. Thereby, Communicative Language Teaching bases itself upon the concept of
language competence, which is considered the actual basis of proficiency in a language. Hence,
teaching activities involve students in real life communicative situations in which the
communicative task is of more importance than the grammatical accuracy. Other exercises such as
games, songs, problem solving and role plays also are used in classrooms. It must be said that
each of these activities are sowed on the learners needs, therefore, if the class

Post War Australia
The statement Developments in popular culture in post war Australia and their impact on society
were influenced in particular by American and British culture , when taken in reference to the
timeline lasting from the 1950 s to the present day, is extremely accurate. Not only did American
and British influence affect the Australian lifestyle in the later half of the 20th century, in
particular the 1970 s and 80 s; but the rise of developments such as the World Wide Web and
online Social Networks from American origins in the 1990 s and the previous and current decades

influences directly from the countries of origin. Popular television shows contained aspects of the

Due to the popularity of foreign television programmes, Australians particularly youths began to

The Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide Concentration on Catalase...
Introduction
H2O2 is commonly known as hydrogen peroxide and it is a strong oxidizer and a naturally
produced compound in humans as a by product of oxidative metabolism. Because of this, humans
also produce the enzyme catalase peroxidases in order to convert small amounts of H2O2 into
oxygen and water. It uses the following chemical formula:
2H_2 O_2в†’O_2+гЂ–2HгЂ—_2 O
This process is called decomposition as two hydrogen peroxide molecules are broken down into
oxygen and two water molecules.
Catalase is an important enzyme that protects cells from oxidative damage, which hydrogen
peroxide can cause. It is an incredibly efficient enzyme where one catalase molecule can convert
millions of hydrogen peroxide molecules each second.
This experiment looked at how substrate concentration can affect enzyme activity. In this case the
substrate was hydrogen peroxide and the enzyme was catalase. Pieces of meat providing the
catalase were added to increasing concentrations of hydrogen peroxide in order to measure the
effect of hydrogen peroxide concentrations on the enzyme s activity. The variable measured was
oxygen produced, as water would be too difficult to measure with basic equipment.
Research Question
What is the effect of the concentration of a hydrogen peroxide solution on catalase activity?
Hypothesis
The hypothesis is that catalase activity will increase exponentially with higher concentrations of
hydrogen peroxide until all catalase active sites are filled, in which case the

Green Man Flashing Essay
Green Man Flashing is a play written by Mike van Graan and it is a story about a woman named
Gabby Anderson who is sexually assaulted by her high profile black boss. This story explores her
life before the assault and after. It has moments of flashbacks and is a reverse chronology where
the play starts at the end. GreenMan Flashing is a contemporary political piece because it explores
modern racism, universal eternal ideologies and the styles of flashbacks and simultaneous scenes
are used.
Racism is an ideology that would always be a part of life however racism now is different to the
racism back then. Racism now is a very controversial idea; where issues like black people not being
racist but white people are racist are explored. In Green ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mike van Graan uses the style of flashbacks to tell the story because it shows that we all have to
go back to the past to grow as a person. This style of flashbacks also falls part of the idea of
reminiscing; that we all have a story to tell. The other style used is simultaneous scenes. This
style is modern because it adds to the idea of life not being how we want it to be. Life does not
really have a certain beginning and end; yes we are born and we die but when we choose is up
to us and when where we choose to die, give up, is also up to us. A great example of a
simultaneous scene would be scene 14 when Anna, Gabbys best friend, and Aaron are having a
conversation but also Gabby and Inspector Abrahams, Gabbys detective, are also having a
conversation. Mike van Graan couldn t literally make the scenes simultaneous but he did make
sure that he mentions that they are happening at the same time to show normal conversation. The
other choice of style Mike van Graan chose is that of not re enacting some scenes and this makes
this modern because it shows that whatever happened has happened. South African back then used
to dwell on many things such as pain but nowadays being sad is not part of the plan, mourning is
not given time. Aaron and Gabby do not give themselves time to deal with their son s death
whereas if it was back then it would have been a

Female Sex Offenders Double Standard
Female Sex Offenders:
To Be Or Not To Be A Double Standard?
Society deems female sex offenders as less threating and less violent than others nevertheless, is
there truly a double standard? The harsh reality of female sex offenders brings about a controversial
debate both about the aggressor and the victim. Many argue that the victim encourages the
behavior, that they are somewhat lesser of a victim. On the other hand, some excuse away the
female s actions by using their past as a reason to offend. Before addressing the double standard
society needs to understand why females are viewed as less dangerous, the negative impacts that
are placed on their victims, and why male victims are often viewed as responsible for the rape.

Number of Offenders
The most common and most obvious reason why female offenders are considered less dangerous

Fred Williams was one of Australia s remarkable artists of the 20th Century. His artwork has

Burnt Ferns introduces the idea of building form and constantly applying a new perception. The
painting consists of European style painting including a visible horizon line, a wide vista, eye

memory of the landscape. Burnt Ferns, this singular oeuvre by the fully fledged artist Fred

Effectiveness of the Federal Reserve in Stabilizing the...
Evaluate the role and the effectiveness of the Federal Reserve in stabilizing the current economy.
The role of the Federal Bank is to manage the nation s monetary system. It does so by three
different methods:
It can change the interest rate on money that it lends to banks. A higher interest rate makes money
more expensive. Banks may be, therefore, more reluctant to sign loans to applicants. On the other
hand, the Bank by lowering interest rates can encourage banks to more readily lend loans.
The Federal Reserve has the authority to change reserve requirements. (I.e. the percentage that
banks have to store in their vaults that represent their total HYPERLINK http://www.blurtit.com
/q717809.html loan portfolio). By the Federal Reserve lowering their requirement for money that
banks have to store in their vaults), banks can be more liberal with their loans.
The Federal Reserve controls the money supply. This, in turn, has an impact on inflation and interest
rates. In other words, when inflation is high, the FR reduces money supply, and increases the
money supply when there is poor economic growth and the economy needs it (Mishkin, 2007)
The FR s most recent attempts to stabilizing the economy veer towards supporting housing and
helping growth of employment. The problems right now in the housing market are that there are
too tight lending rules and racial discrimination. The FR, consequently, decided to take certain steps
which would include:

MEditerranean Desertification And Land USe (MEDALUS) project is one of the largest project
of the European Comission established to analyse the global and regional climate changes. The
MEDALUS model (Kosmas et al.1999) identifies regions that are environmentally sensitive area
(ESAs). In this model, different types of ESAs to desertification can be analysed in terms of
various parameters such as landforms, soil, geology, vegetation, climate, and human actions. Each
of these parameters is grouped into various uniform classes and a weighting factor is assigned to
each class. Then four layers are evaluated: soil quality, climate quality, vegetation quality, and
management quality. As outlined by Kosmas et al. (1999) and Brandt et al. (2003), the method
should be reasonably simple, robust and widely applicable; the selection of parameters to assess
environmental quality must be made attending to their availability, economy and ability to update
and the system should be adaptable to the development and refinement of the existing information
content and the possible addition of new information. The principal innovation which was brought
in to the study by Kirkby et al. (1998) in their study of MEDALUS was long term interactions with
the vegetation and soil, with implications for the way in which the surface flow and infiltration are
described and distributed area wise. The model contains four inter related sub models for the

Different Types Of Cholesterol Levels
Reading all of this might be a little bit difficult to understand however, if you do not know of the
different types of cholesterol. The two main types, as found on WebMD, are low density
lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), also known as the bad cholesterol, and high density lipoprotein
cholesterol (HDL), also called good cholesterol( Understanding Cholesterol Numbers ). The weird
factor about running is that while it does reduce the levels of LDL, it increases the levels of
HDL. The American Heart Association considers HDL to be the good cholesterol because it may
protect you from heart disease by transporting cholesterol out of your arteries (Cavazos 1). This

Running can also help the population of patients with heart disease by helping to improve their
oxygen intake. As found in an article written by Jonathan Myers, it was stated that As one s
ability to transport and use oxygen improves, regular daily activities can be performed with less
fatigue. This is particularly important for patients with cardiovascular disease, whose exercise
capacity is typically lower than that of healthy individuals (1). So not only can running help reduce
the chances of accumulating heart disease over the years, but it can also help certain patients who
unfortunately already have coronary heart disease (CHD). It may be surprising to hear, but the
way running effects your physical body system, also leads to affecting the brain. The amount of
oxygen your body produces can improve the amount of oxygen and minerals your brain consumes.
This leads into the next benefit of running. Running not only has physical health benefits, as listed
above, but is also known for having psychological benefits. One of the most commonly known
benefits is the runners high . This is a happy and energizing sensation that some runners feel once
they get done with a run. The reason this occurs is as described in an article by Keith Hillman as
through the production of certain hormones associated with feeling good. Running will help you to

The Symbols Of Righteousness In Dante s Journey
The representations of the different symbols for righteousness are shown through the shine of first

three beasts, which could represent how he has sinned and he can t escape his past. For better
insight, analyze the sins that Dante has committed before stepping onto the path of righteousness to

The first rays of sunrise show that God had wanted him to change, so he sent a wake up call to
Dante. With the sunrise shining onto the little hill, the Mount of Joy, Dante found a new
inspiration. He wanted to change his ways and get back onto the True Way that God had intended
for him to be on. Dante realized that no matter what he tried, he couldn t get back on the path of
righteousness by himself. His pathway to righteousness has been blocked by his sins that he has
committed. He tries to get around his sins to righteousness, but he can t do it alone. God sends Virgil

Similarities Between Muscadine And Vinifera
Muscadine Versus Vinifera
For those living in the south, Muscadine wine is a very familiar commodity. However, as
popular as it is, Vinifera wine is also rather popular. Both wines are fantastic and provide wine
drinkers a unique tasting experience. If you are planning an event and trying to decide between
Muscadine and Vinifera wines, here are some of the differences you can expect to see.
Muscadine Wine
Muscadine Wine is made from the Muscadine grape. These grapes have vines with textured foliage
and are extremely colorful. The skins of these grapes are extremely thick and range in color from
green or bronze to black or dark purple when they are ripe an. They are also typically grown during
the fall months of September and October.

Many people even make their own Muscadine wine at home from grapes that grow on their
property or that they purchase. This creates a home grown wine that is like nothing else you will
taste.
Vinifera
When comparing Vinifera wines to Muscadine, you won t find many similarities. These wines are
European style white wines that are sophisticated and versatile. Until the 1960s, these wines
remained a European wine, but now they are also grown and produced in the United States.
There are many types of wines that fall into the Vinifera family. For example, one of the most
popular is Chardonnay. This is a hardy wine that offers high quality and great flavor. Another
popular option is white Riesling. This is another wine that is a high quality wine and it is usually
considered sweeter than other wines.
Pinot blanc is a white wine that originally came from places in Germany and France. It is similar
to Chardonnay both in flavor and boldness. Pinot gris is another interesting wine that falls into this
family. One of the things people like about this wine is that it is a great complement or alternative
for Chardonnay and white

How Did Voltaire Contribute To The Danger Of Despotism
Voltaire
Voltaire was a French philosopher in the eighteen century, a period of free thinkers where freedom
of thought was emerging sufficiently. However, he and others were not academically trained
scholars operating in official institutions of their time. They largely depended on talent and the
knowledge they had acquired in school having come from able families.
On his part, Voltairegreatly defended civil liberties including freedom of religion and right to fair
trial. He went against all odds to ensure social reform despite laws in France for those that were
found to have broken them. He was satirical as he often used his work to criticize church doctrine.

His mentor John Luke and England s uncertain empiricism were the motives behind his
philosophical views. He was a hypocrite in some manner as his philosophical ideas, and social
criticisms were not original although he portrayed a keen common sense. He contradicted Rousseau
s believe that civilization corrupts man as he believed in progress and the virtues of civilization.
Voltaire significantly took part in fighting for religious liberty. He found the act of people
believing in one religion dangerous as this could expose them to the danger of despotism. He was
controversial as he articulated that existence of two or more religions would generate violence
among people. Undiplomatically, he is said to have fought to an unusual extent to right the wrongs
done against Protestants who had beliefs different to his.
Voltaire did not like Catholic Church institutions as he found them abusive. Eventually, this made
Voltaire engaged in an intense battle against the Catholic Church as he found it skeptical of
religious keenness and the emphasis of human sin. He advised people to take religion as a
deterrent and encouragement towards the good life. Notably, he had invented a saying that if God

Pros And Cons Of Nationalization And Regulation Of The...
Nationalization and Regulation of the American Healthcare System According to a study from
The American Journal of Medicine, more than 60% of bankruptcies in America are due to
medical bills. We are spending more and more each year on health care, much more than other
countries whose healthcare quality is on par with ours. These high costs are the result of our
flawed system that favors corporations over individuals and is in a dire need of reform. As tax
paying Americans, we should be willing to pay higher taxes in exchange for affordable healthcare,
as those living in an industrialized country should not have to worry about essential services such
as health care. This increase in taxes can be invested to construct an infrastructure for regulating the
costs of and standardizing medical services, as well as to fund medical research, among other
benefits for every person. The cost of hospitalization and prescription medication is exorbitant.

Essay on Abortion, Pope John Paul II and Peter Singer
Abortion, Pope John Paul II and Peter Singer
Abortion is one of the most controversial issues today. It has become a question of not only ethics,
but morals. In the 1973 case of Roe v Wade the Supreme Court ruled that a woman has the right to
terminate a pregnancy by abortion within the first six months of the pregnancy. However,
conservative Presidents have changed the legislation enough to allow states to restrict abortion in
various ways (Practical Ethics, Peter Singer). In the following paper, I will summarize the views on
abortion of Pope John Paul II and philosopher, Peter Singer. These two men have very conflicting
opinions about abortion.

The way of death is this: ... they kill their children and by abortion cause God s creatures to
parish ... they are filled with sin. As time goes on, the Church will continue to teach the
undeniable value on the first commandment. Even in the first centuries, murder was considered
one of the three most serious sins. This should not come as a surprise. To kill something that
was created by, and in the image of, God should be considered a serious sin. The most important
case involving the first commandment of You shall not kill is when it refers to innocent human
beings. This is especially so when it refers to defenseless, weak, human beings such as an unborn
child or infant. The taking of an innocent life, especially at it s beginning or end, is gravely
immoral. This direct and voluntary action will always be regarded as morally evil and can never
be considered as necessary, either as an end, or as means to a good end. Nothing and no none can
in any way permit the killing of an innocent human being, whether a fetus or an embryo, and infant
of an adult ... no one is permitted to ask for this act of killing, either for him/herself or for another

However, these investigative techniques follow four major stages in criminal investigation which
include;
1.Preliminary Investigation
Preliminary investigation involves the collection of information from the victims or witnesses of

These preliminary investigations are aimed at collecting information sufficient to apprehend the
suspects as well as preserve the crime scene for more investigation. (Weinreb, 1977).

scientific methods and their inter relations to obtain more information about the crime committed.
These stages also give allow time for the public to share their views on the case. (Lyman, 2001).
4.Focus of the investigation
This is the fourth and last stage of the criminal investigation. This stage directs focus on one
suspect. Here, the burden of proof is directed towards proving that the suspect is guilt of the
offence or the crime. A very key part of this step is compilation of final information regarding the
suspect charged of the crime. (Greenwood Petersilia, 1975).
Challenges in each of the four steps

Some of the challenges faced in this stage include
i.Inability to assess the reliability of witness or victims statements. ii. Some statements from the
victims may offer conflicting information.

Similarities Between The New England, The Middle Colonies...
In 1492, Christopher Columbus sailed to find the Indies, but instead he found an undiscovered
continent which would soon be called the New World. The New World was full of fresh
possibilities, promises of treasures, and religious freedom; it was a place that could be called
home. After years of conquest and settling, four regions came about on the East Coast of North
America: New England, the Middle Colonies, the Southern Colonies, and the Chesapeake colonies.
The colonists had their similarities such as that they were ruled by England, though their
government was the majority self governed, they were mostly Protestants who did not agree with
the Roman Catholic Church, they had the same culture, and there was some religious tolerance.
Despite these similarities, they were still quite different. The New England region contained two
combined colonies. There was Massachusettsand Rhode Island, made to be the Massachusetts Bay
Colony. This colony began with settlers differing from religious norm. The religion was mainly
Puritan, those who wanted to get rid of Catholicism from the Church of England. On the other hand,
the Toleration Act, declared in 1649, and made by Parliament towards New England, forced their
tolerance of other religions. Despite that tolerance, the Puritans were still reluctant to accept the
other religions causing colonists of those religions to travel to further west for their own religious
freedom. The Massachusetts Bay Colony s economy relied on fishing,

Jeopardy Test
To find out whether a computer can not only hold vast amounts of data, but to be able to assess
that data quickly, Jeopardy is a logical way to test it. The reason Jeopardy makes sense as a test
platform is because the average contestant on Jeopardy has such a complex understanding of
different subjects, viewers have often compared them to computers. Eugene Finerman told the Wall
Street Journal (1990) that he had to scan over at least 200 issues of Time magazine to feel like he
could answer a good amount of questions. However, testing the computeron a quiz show means that
the computer only had to be as smart as the human players it was competing against. Testing
multiple computers (with different knowledge, software, or with some other difference) would be
more adequate competitors.
The computer used in the test was set up specifically for the process of retrieving data. If that is all
you are wanting from a computer, then it is acceptable. I find a computer retrieving data, like

So it is important to be direct and solid with your statements when you tell stories and give

Pausch did that was very creative was his use of foreshadowing. The photo of him and his

Reflective Essay On Reading And Writing
It was my second grade year and I was only 7 years old when I first found my hatred for anything
that had to do with reading or writing. Every week my teacher would give us a lengthy list of
vocabulary words that we had to memorize before our spelling test the following week. I would
study for periods at a time trying to memorize these gruesome lists of words that I could never
remember. When it came down to the day of the test I would see all my classmates at ease while
I would panic trying to remember what I studied. When it finally came time to take the test I
hear the teacher call the word island but the only thing I could hear was noise In a room full of
silence. I was frustrated I couldn t think, the teacher would ask is everyone ready to move on
and I wouldn t say anything because I was too shy. After a couple of days I would get my score
back and would not be surprised when I found out that I had failed the test. Week after week this
became a recurring theme when I got back my spellingtest. Following this experience I accepted the
fact that reading and writingwas just (not my thing).
Although my second grade experience was terrible, my third grade year gave me an experience

having to memorize them. We would have to create a story using these words. This opened my

Very often, people commit a crime because they think that the punishment is not harsh enough.
Therefore, to show the determination to protect consumer privacy, the government should impose
harsher punishment that is deterrent enough. Besides, it is essential to allocate more resource to
establish some departments which can help protect people s privacy in e business. In addition to
punishment ad establish departments, the government should educate young people about
importance of respecting people s privacy. The education should be done everywhere, for example,
in school, in public areas, and on television, so that it can uproot young people s wrong values.
Companies also ought to take effective measures to protect consumer privacy. One practical

Analysis Of Book 19 In The Odyssey
Book 19 of the epic poem The Odyssey is written by the great poet Homer. Homer s specific use
of language and epic conventions help develop the plot, specifically Odysseus disguise and
whether or not it will work on the people in the house. It also helps to establish Eurycleia, the
nurse, and the suitors as well as Penelope. In the passage, Odysseushas entered his home for the
first time since his return when he left almost twenty years ago. Disguised as a beggar, Odysseus
tells his own story through the beggar s words to his wife, Penelope, but never reveals his true

We bear a striking resemblance to each other, as you have had the wit to say yourself. (19. 430 37)
This part of the passage serves to show Odysseus cunning wit and to also foreshadow the nurse
discovering Odysseus identity. Homer uses the epithet wily Odysseus to tell the audience (if
they didn t already know) that Odysseus must have been pretty clever to come up with such a
good excuse so fast. Homer also gives us more information about the nurse, saying that she is an
old woman that has seen much and remembers Odysseus from before he left to Troy. This part of
the passage also serves to foreshadow the fact that the nurse will soon discover who Odysseus is,
in the quote she begins to recognize just how alike the beggar and Odysseus are.
HomerВґs use of poetic language is a useful tool to develop a string of affairs in the Odyssey. When
Eurycleia recognizes Odysseus in his disguised appearance she feels a deep sorrow and
commiseration for him. She understands and knows that Odysseus s fate is a result of his own
constant hubris and his total disregard of the gods and their power:

Romeo And Juliet And Something Wicked This Way Comes
The play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll
and Mr. Hyde by Robert Stevenson, and the novel Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray
Bradbury, all prominently display themes of duality. These works of literature all depict mankind
and its actions as two sided. Each work of literature exhibits the theme of good and evilwhich exists
in everyone and cannot occur separately in humans. Shakespeare, Stevenson, and Bradbury all
immediately establish the theme of good and evil through language and setting. The first
monologue of the Chorus establishes the duality of good and evil; Two households, both alike in

to demonstrate hatred, but also shows the families being dignified. Speaking about mutiny and
civil blood establishes the theme of hatred throughout Romeo and Juliet. Similarly, the author of

Brothers Grimm in their Children s and Household Tales folklore book. The story of Rapunzel
begins with her father who steals a rampion from the garden of an enchantress. To atone for his
sin, the enchantress seizes infant Rapunzel from her parents. She raises the child as her own in
a secluded tower without stairs or doors leading to the outside world. As prince is leisurely
exploring the forest, he overhears the enchanting singing voice of a young women. He follows
the resonance of her melodies and comes across the tower. The voice belongs to Rapunzel, who
is now in her early teenage years. The prince was completely captivated by her voice and desired
to release her from her brick cage and marry her. Having found out his plan, the enchantress casts
an evil spell on the prince leaving him blind. By fate, Rapunzel then escapes the tower and is
reunited with the prince. Out of grief, she holds his face and weeps over his body. Unknown to
Rapunzel, her innocent tears have a unique healing quality that lifts the curse off the Prince s eyes.
The Damsel is exemplified many times throughout this fairytale, specifically with the seclusion of
Rapunzel. In many adaptations, Rapunzel has little to no experience with the world surrounding
her tower. She fears escaping the tower out fear of the

William s English Comp 1 Class
Prior to attending Mrs. William s English Comp 1 class, I felt marginally confident about my
writing, however, I knew I needed improvement. You visually perceive, I ve been out of school for
proximately thirty three years and honestly, not knowing what to expect these questions arose, Can
I genuinely write ? What type of writingwill be required ? How well will I do ? When I stepped
into the classroom and gazed about the room, I felt out of my element. The students were much
younger and more keenly intellective than recollections but, I was here for a reason and that was
to improve my writing. During my childhood, reading was a passion of mine, reading often and
reading more books than I can recollect. As I reflect, reading a great deal... Show more content on

I personally found that I have improved on my grammar, for example, the appropriate placement
of commas, semi colons, and reducing the run on sentences that frequented my writing. In the
role of a writer, I determined that I wasn t as far off on my writing skills as I thought, upon
entering Mrs. William s classroom. Furthermore, I learned that I commenced to relish it. It
seemed to have liberated me at times. When it comes prewriting for assignments, I generally
write my views down on paper by hand. It may be old school, but it is a very effective style for me.
I find the words flow more clearly in that respect. Next, I generally wait a day or so before I
revisited my sample. This is the time to reread what I had written, often making the essential
changes. Then I write the essay in the MLA format, print it, read it, and rectify any punctuation
errors. Lastly, time permitting, I would generally wait a day or two afore I returned to my writing
for two reasons. One to find supplemental mistakes and/or two to revitalize what I have already
wrote. I often altered some of the verbiage to establish I was producing work worth reading. While
writing, the mundane mistakes I make are generally punctuation and run on sentences.
As far as criticism, I am open to it. My goal is to be able to write well, allowing readers to
understand and relish my work. Writing for me is

Vanity Fair Corporation Inc. Essay
Vanity Fair Corporation was founded in 1899 and originally went by the name of Reading
Glove and Mitten Manufacturing Company in Pennsylvania. The company is now
headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina. The company is associated with more than 30
brands that can all be structured into five different coalitions, or categories. They are Outdoor
Action Sports, Jeanswear, Imagewear, Sportswear and Contemporary brands. The brands can
also be divided between heritage and lifestyle brands. A successful corporation like Vanity Fair
can date back its success for many years but it also has room for improvements. There are a few
issues that the company should really work on in order to stay successful for years to come.
Vanity Fair was initially a vertically integrated company that made its way to becoming a
company involved in extensive outsourcing. According to the case Vanity Fair Brands: Global
Supply Chain Strategy, Most apparel companies typically concentrated on design and marketing,
and generally performed little or none of their own production, much of which had been
transferred to low cost countries around the world. In fact, while 49% of retail apparel sold in
the United States was made domestically in 1992, by 1999 this figure had dropped to only 12%.
It was very common for companies to switch gears on their production operations in order to
maintain low costs for the company. This can be a problem for Vanity Fair because it does not
allow for a chance to expand on

Tea Chromatography
Introduction
In this lab session, physical transformations were used to separate caffeine content from tea and
separate components by chromatography. The caffeine content was determined by extracting it
from the tea solution by adding sodium carbonate and dichloromethane into the tea and then and
then evaporating the solvent, using a hot plate. By weighing the empty beaker and the beaker after
the solvent has been evaporated on a top loading scale, the mass of caffeine was calculated. In the
second experiment, paper chromatography was used to separate the dyes in colored markers. The
purpose of this experiment is to observe how chromatography can be used to separate mixtures of
chemical substances. Chromatography serves mainly as a tool for ... Show more content on

Methanol(1) Dyes used were blue and yellow : diffused into a lighter shade of the blue and yellow.
Methanol(2) Dyes used were light green and brown: light green diffused into yellow and brown

Water Dyes used were red and green: dyes were slightly spread but did not change much.
Discussion
By calculation, the amount of caffeine contained within 100 mL of the tea solution is
approximately 26.8 mg. This data may be imprecise due to the possible errors during the extraction
of caffeine from the tea. Errors could have been made during phase separation and how vigorously
or gentle the mixture was shook. Also, errors could have been made during the filtration process
and not separating enough of the tea mixture from the dichloromethane, thus causing the calculation

The Gospel of Thomas, like many other early Christian s works are belong to the apocryphal scriptures and are collections of traditional sayings or stories of Jesus or his apostles. This logion or saying is attributed to Didymos, the twin, Juda Thomas. In the study and analysis of the Gospel of Thomas, let us do the history of the book to better be in the spirit of time and space of the story first. • 3. The Constitution And Freedom Of The United States The Constitution and Freedom The process of debating the guiding document of the new nation, provided the opportunity for 55 delegates to reflect on a national argument. The key issue of strong central government verses strong states provided the dividing line between Federalists and Anti Federalists and would be seen as the underlying theme for many of the debates. Writing as Brutus, Robert Yates stated it succinctly, The most important question that was ever posed to your decision, or to the decision of any people under heaven, is before you... (1787). The Anti Federalists were concerned with maintaining freedom. The states had just fought a battle to remove themselves from the tyranny of English control. To give up significant amounts of power to a centralized entity would undermine what they had accomplished in winning their freedom. The states were individually named in the Declaration of Independence and the Treaty of Paris recognized them as free sovereign and independent states. Several steps were taken to ensure the new federal government would not become simply a replacement for Britain as the ruler of the states. Representation The first step towards ensuring their freedom was to establish how the states would be represented in the new Federal government. Some form of elected or chosen representation was needed to ensure that the states would have a direct hand in determining the laws of the new country. The original plan proposed by Virginia ... While the empire had problems with stability from time to time, the three of them had their roles in cultivating prosperity. The role of lifelong friend and confidante is attributed to Agrippa, as his loyalty ceased to cultivate throughout the years. The trifecta aided Augustusin ruling and improving the empire, while sporadically corralling the Octavian mindset inside of Augustus. Augustus single handedly appointed Agrippa to settle disputes that arose on the frontier, and in Rome. He was the ultimate plug n play general of the empire, and proved his worth early on until his death in 12 B.C through military ventures and building projects. Gaius Maecenas had a profound impact on Augustus decision to retain the power that he acquired after defeating Marc Antony and Cleopatra, which shaped the government into what eventually existed in Dio s time. He also handled important business in Rome while the emperor was absent, acting as a sit in caesar, if you will. Livia attempted to promote the women of Rome, while also helping Augustus soothe relationships with the latter s enemies. However, mischievous presumptions loom from Dio around Livia regarding certain disastrous events. Nonetheless, without Livia, Maecenas, and especially Agrippa, Octavian might not have ever had the chance to rule Rome. Cassius Dio portrays Marcus Vispanius Agrippa ... Nonetheless, from a variety of methods that have come and gone, one has been adopted as pioneer, which is the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach. Nowadays, in fact, Communicative Language Teaching is one of the most common teaching methods adopted by teachers of second and foreign languages all over the world. Its origin can be found in the late 1960s early 1970s in the British academic system, which was undergoing a serious of changes that reflected, none other than, the changes that were occurring in society. On the other hand, American linguists, based on Chomsky s language acquisition theory and concept of linguistic competence, started rejecting the Oral Approach. This was the contingent cause for a shift in Britain s language teaching method, SLT. In fact, also Britain s linguists began questioning SLT s practical and theoretical foundations. Therefore, both Chomsky s studies as well as the criticality British linguists had towards the more traditional methodologies led to the advent of the Communicative Language Teaching approach. This approach was very advanced for the time. It revolutionised the strategies of language learning and also changed the role of the language teachers as well as the language learners. In contrast with some of the methodologies previously adopted, its main goal is to teach the scholars the ability to communicate. Thereby, Communicative Language Teaching bases itself upon the concept of language competence, which is considered the actual basis of proficiency in a language. Hence, teaching activities involve students in real life communicative situations in which the communicative task is of more importance than the grammatical accuracy. Other exercises such as games, songs, problem solving and role plays also are used in classrooms. • 11. The Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide Concentration on Catalase... Introduction H2O2 is commonly known as hydrogen peroxide and it is a strong oxidizer and a naturally produced compound in humans as a by product of oxidative metabolism. Because of this, humans also produce the enzyme catalase peroxidases in order to convert small amounts of H2O2 into oxygen and water. It uses the following chemical formula: 2H_2 O_2в†’O_2+гЂ–2HгЂ—_2 O This process is called decomposition as two hydrogen peroxide molecules are broken down into oxygen and two water molecules. Catalase is an important enzyme that protects cells from oxidative damage, which hydrogen peroxide can cause. It is an incredibly efficient enzyme where one catalase molecule can convert millions of hydrogen peroxide molecules each second. This experiment looked at how substrate concentration can affect enzyme activity. In this case the substrate was hydrogen peroxide and the enzyme was catalase. Pieces of meat providing the catalase were added to increasing concentrations of hydrogen peroxide in order to measure the effect of hydrogen peroxide concentrations on the enzyme s activity. The variable measured was oxygen produced, as water would be too difficult to measure with basic equipment. Research Question What is the effect of the concentration of a hydrogen peroxide solution on catalase activity? Hypothesis The hypothesis is that catalase activity will increase exponentially with higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide until all catalase active sites are filled, in which case the ... Mike van Graan uses the style of flashbacks to tell the story because it shows that we all have to go back to the past to grow as a person. This style of flashbacks also falls part of the idea of reminiscing; that we all have a story to tell. The other style used is simultaneous scenes. This style is modern because it adds to the idea of life not being how we want it to be. Life does not really have a certain beginning and end; yes we are born and we die but when we choose is up to us and when where we choose to die, give up, is also up to us. A great example of a simultaneous scene would be scene 14 when Anna, Gabbys best friend, and Aaron are having a conversation but also Gabby and Inspector Abrahams, Gabbys detective, are also having a conversation. Mike van Graan couldn t literally make the scenes simultaneous but he did make sure that he mentions that they are happening at the same time to show normal conversation. The other choice of style Mike van Graan chose is that of not re enacting some scenes and this makes this modern because it shows that whatever happened has happened. Society deems female sex offenders as less threating and less violent than others nevertheless, is there truly a double standard? The harsh reality of female sex offenders brings about a controversial debate both about the aggressor and the victim. Many argue that the victim encourages the behavior, that they are somewhat lesser of a victim. On the other hand, some excuse away the female s actions by using their past as a reason to offend. Before addressing the double standard society needs to understand why females are viewed as less dangerous, the negative impacts that are placed on their victims, and why male victims are often viewed as responsible for the rape. The role of the Federal Bank is to manage the nation s monetary system. It does so by three different methods: It can change the interest rate on money that it lends to banks. A higher interest rate makes money more expensive. Banks may be, therefore, more reluctant to sign loans to applicants. On the other hand, the Bank by lowering interest rates can encourage banks to more readily lend loans. The Federal Reserve has the authority to change reserve requirements. By the Federal Reserve lowering their requirement for money that banks have to store in their vaults), banks can be more liberal with their loans. The Federal Reserve controls the money supply. This, in turn, has an impact on inflation and interest rates. In other words, when inflation is high, the FR reduces money supply, and increases the money supply when there is poor economic growth and the economy needs it (Mishkin, 2007) The FR s most recent attempts to stabilizing the economy veer towards supporting housing and helping growth of employment. The MEDALUS model (Kosmas et al.1999) identifies regions that are environmentally sensitive area (ESAs). In this model, different types of ESAs to desertification can be analysed in terms of various parameters such as landforms, soil, geology, vegetation, climate, and human actions. Each of these parameters is grouped into various uniform classes and a weighting factor is assigned to each class. Then four layers are evaluated: soil quality, climate quality, vegetation quality, and management quality. As outlined by Kosmas et al. (1999) and Brandt et al. He was a hypocrite in some manner as his philosophical ideas, and social criticisms were not original although he portrayed a keen common sense. He contradicted Rousseau s believe that civilization corrupts man as he believed in progress and the virtues of civilization. Voltaire significantly took part in fighting for religious liberty. He found the act of people believing in one religion dangerous as this could expose them to the danger of despotism. He was controversial as he articulated that existence of two or more religions would generate violence among people. Undiplomatically, he is said to have fought to an unusual extent to right the wrongs done against Protestants who had beliefs different to his. Voltaire did not like Catholic Church institutions as he found them abusive. Eventually, this made Voltaire engaged in an intense battle against the Catholic Church as he found it skeptical of religious keenness and the emphasis of human sin. He advised people to take religion as a deterrent and encouragement towards the good life. Notably, he had invented a saying that if God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him. Nationalization and Regulation of the American Healthcare System According to a study from The American Journal of Medicine, more than 60% of bankruptcies in America are due to medical bills. We are spending more and more each year on health care, much more than other countries whose healthcare quality is on par with ours. These high costs are the result of our flawed system that favors corporations over individuals and is in a dire need of reform. As tax paying Americans, we should be willing to pay higher taxes in exchange for affordable healthcare, as those living in an industrialized country should not have to worry about essential services such as health care. This increase in taxes can be invested to construct an infrastructure for regulating the costs of and standardizing medical services, as well as to fund medical research, among other benefits for every person. After years of conquest and settling, four regions came about on the East Coast of North America: New England, the Middle Colonies, the Southern Colonies, and the Chesapeake colonies. The colonists had their similarities such as that they were ruled by England, though their government was the majority self governed, they were mostly Protestants who did not agree with the Roman Catholic Church, they had the same culture, and there was some religious tolerance. Despite these similarities, they were still quite different. The New England region contained two combined colonies. There was Massachusettsand Rhode Island, made to be the Massachusetts Bay Colony. This colony began with settlers differing from religious norm. The religion was mainly Puritan, those who wanted to get rid of Catholicism from the Church of England. On the other hand, the Toleration Act, declared in 1649, and made by Parliament towards New England, forced their tolerance of other religions. The reason Jeopardy makes sense as a test platform is because the average contestant on Jeopardy has such a complex understanding of different subjects, viewers have often compared them to computers.
