AICPA And Its Misconceptions
One of the most misunderstood job positions in the United States is accounting. Accounting is
often described as a dull job that requires a mastery in crunching numbers. Despite accountings
misconceptions, it is often considered one of the most satisfying jobs. One particular accounting
title, Certified Public Accountant(CPA), is one of the most popular qualifications accountants seek
out. To organize and represent CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) was formed. Today,
AICPA is informing the public about accounting and uses the slogan Start Here, Go Places. AICPA
emphasizes the vast career options accountants have. In every government and economic sector
accountants are used. Whenever there is a transaction an accountant must

Adultism Essay
When I first saw what the topic was for this week s writing assignment, I was unaware what
adultism was. I thought adultism was the same as ageism, so it was confusing to me. When I
was looking up what adultism is, I did not know that it was discrimination against younger
people. When I was a child, I can imagine a time where I did notice that my thoughts, feelings,
rights, experiences were not given priority, in deference of the adults in the room. I mean when I
younger adults would always say to me is you re only a kid, you would never understand . At family
gatherings, my aunts and uncles would never include me in the conservations, they would just
talk over me. One example that stood out to me the most was when my family would celebrate
thanksgivings, myself and all the kids were not allowed to sit in the same room as the adults. We
would have to sit in another room and sit at the kids table to eat our dinner on thanksgivings. As I
got older I began to become mad at the fact that I was not included with the family dinner with my
adultfamily members. Every year, I and my cousins would try to sit at the adult table but my... Show

My cousin would ask my mother to babysit her children, but when I would ask her can If I could
babysit them. She would always say you can babysit, but your mother has to be with you, you
cannot be alone. I feel like in a way that is adultism because my cousin who is an adult and I was
not an adult at the time was looking down upon me and discriminating me because I was not an
adult like my mother was. I feel like I experienced adultism a lot when I was in school. I think
my teachers thought they were better than us when I was in grade school because they were
older and they did not have any respect for many of the children in my classrooms. When my
parents would discipline me as a child, I was never allowed to speak for myself or even defend
myself, my parents just assumed

Women s Rights Is The Fight For Equality
Women s rights is the fight for the idea that women should have equal rights with men. Over
history, this has taken the form of gaining property rights, the women s suffrage, or the right of
women to vote, reproductive rights, and the right to work for for equal pay. Women were
conditioned to be treated like second class citizens solely because of their gender until a crucial
movement in American history during the late nineteenth century that would inspire a long fight
for equality for generations to come. The American women s movement was a tedious yet
extraordinarily important movement that challenged the social norms of a patriarchal society for
their own recognition. Overall, this paper will discuss the importance of women s labor... Show

First Women s Rights Convention was held in 1848. Approximately 300 activists meet in Seneca
Falls, N.Y., to plan on how to achieve women s suffrage nationwide. Partakers, including Lucretia
Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, mark the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions, formed on
the Declaration of Independence, which calls for equivalent treatment of women and men under the
law and voting rights for women.
The main organizer of the Seneca Falls Convention was Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who is deemed as
one of the most important people that made an important change in women s rights. Stanton drafted
the Declaration of Sentiments, Grievances, and Resolutions, that related to the Declaration of
Independence. We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men and women are created equal.
Among the 13 resolutions set forth in Stanton s Declaration was the goal of achieving the sacred
right of franchise (History, Art and Archives). They stated the injustices and discrimination that
women had to face with, they wanted the United States to adopt laws that protected the rights of
married women, granting them the right to own property in their own name, keep their own
earnings and retain guardianship of their children in case of divorce (Deborah Brown). In 1868,

Lord Of The Flies Civilization Analysis
Within any civilization, there are multiple key components required in order to create a
functioning society. As explained through Lord of the Flies by William Golding, these pivotal
building blocks of a civilization can play a great part into bringing a group of people to society, or
drag them all down into savagery. The conch shell is an excellent example of political legitimacy
and democratic power. Although, while this device can be used for good; providing others with
order and sanity, it can also be used for the utter destruction of a civilization. The conch shell in
Lord of the Flies by William Goldingbegins as civilization and order, becomes the fragility of
power and influence, and concludes with the collapse of any civilized thoughts. Civilization and
order can be found within every society, and this is no exception within the group of boys in the
beginning of the novel. Throughout the exposition of the story, governance over the group of
boys was unknown. No order was established to influence the boys to cooperate and fulfill the
needed tasks to get off the island. Although, there was a stillness about Ralph as he sat that marked
him out: there was his size, and attractive appearance...yet most powerfully, there was the conch.
The being that had blown that, had sat waiting for them on the platform with the delicate thing
balanced on his knees, was set apart (Golding 22). The conch shell was able to control and demand
a large audience. It provided Ralph with a

for District 23. He is African American and his religious affiliation is Baptist. He belongs to the
Democratic Party; therefore, he shares my preferred party preference. Senator Royce West has
been in office since January of 1993, so he has been in office for a total of 24 years. 2.One of the
recent pieces of legislation authored by Royce West is the Texas State Senate Bill 121 (TX

Although education is a priority when it comes to policy priorities for West, health related
policies are not too far behind. For example, West was coauthor to SB 481, which helps patients
who have to pay high medical bills because their insurance does not cover certain procedures and
allows them to seek help from the Texas Department of Insurance so that through mediation the
bill can be balanced (New Law Helps Patients). This shows that there is agreement between the
policy goals of TMA and West since their vision includes improving the health of all Texans
which the bill, which is now law, helps with since Texans have the opportunity to be assisted so
that medical bills can be reasonably paid for (Vision, Mission, and Goals). An additional bill that
shows the agreement between the policy goals of TMA and West is the Texas Senate Bill 344,
which has to do with the emergency medical personnel that is allowed to transport patients to
emergency centers and strives to keep patients safe when experiencing emergencies by declaring
who is able to transport them to emergency centers (Texas SB344). Senator Royce West was
endorsed by the Texas Medical Association in 2014. 4.Senator Royce West, who is a Democrat,

Self Sabotage Of A Parent s Guilt Research Paper
Stop The Self Sabotage Of Parental Guilt: You re Probably Doing Better Than You Think!
A little guilt can sometimes be a good thing, driving people to stay honest, do better and keep on
the right path; however, a parent s guilt is oft exaggerated by their fierce drive to want nothing but
the best for and from their children. Here are five ways in which you might be feeling guilty as a
parent and why you are probably wrong about most of them:
1. You Can t Buy Your Child Everything They Want
It s hard to just take a trip to your local superstore for a few groceries, without seeing a boatload
of items your child is crying for. While you might feel the urge to want to fill your basket to your
child s delight, not having may actually be a good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Avoid kicking yourself over it, especially if you struggle to make ends meet each week. Consider
making the most of every moment you do have together and managing time in between work and
family a little tighter, if at all possible.
4. You Are A Single Parent
Being a one person operation means you carry an extra heavy load as a parent, often feeling like
you re only capable of getting half the job done. Most especially, though, if the other parent is out
of the picture because they have serious problems that could negatively impact your household,
you re doing the right thing. It s also very difficult for a single parent to successfully navigate the
dating scene, due to lack of time, fear of meeting a psycho or introducing your kids to a new
person, then having to say goodby because it didn t work out.
Rather than feel guilty about your solo position, give yourself a well earned pat on the back for
the job you re doing and know that your kids will grow up as outstanding people, just the same.

To maximise foreign exchange earnings efficiency, countries where imports are attained from
should be targeted for tourism promotion, so as to allow influx of there currency. E.g. if most of
the mechanical imports come from Switzerland the government usually has to source Swiss Francs.
This can be done by targeting Swiss tourists.
Rise in Gross National Product
Tourism is an economic activity that provides to the GNP and per capita income of a country. In
countries with rich tourist history it could provide up to 25% of the local economy.
In 1994 Korea[3] for instance set up a successful 5 year plan that help them achieve a U.S $ 500
million income from tourism this target was shifted to US $ 10 Billion for the year 2000.(ref)

Puerto Rico Pros And Cons
Our current American Flag is composed of a blue upper left corner filled with 50 white stars and
13 alternating red and white stripes, and is missing one thing. A 51st star. That star representing the
current unincorporated territory known as, Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is a spanish speaking,
caribbean island that is currently a territory of the United States. And is actually a lot closer to
statehood than you would assume. Baring statehood granted, both sides would see huge benefits.
Puerto Rican citizens are required to do many of the same things United States citizens are required
to do, and are actually for the idea of statehood. Are they Puerto Ricocitizens or simply just United
States citizens inhabited on the caribbean island? Puerto Ricans are actually required to pay many
of the same federal taxes as United States citizens. Considering Commonwealth government has

We all know in the world of politics, there is and will always be an argument to anything that
would be proposed, especially if it s something new to politicians. With the addition of a new
state, it would scramble things in the senate and the house. Puerto Rico as a state would gain two
seats in the Senate and five in the House of Representatives, rather than the one non voting
delegate that currently represents Puerto Rico. (Rubinstein) Puerto Rico would most likely be a
democratic state, which would greatly help breaking up the republican controlled senate and
house. This would help in the decision making that would go on. Puerto Rico would also see
benefits, because the US would help improve the living conditions. Puerto Rico just filed for
bankruptcy and if statehood were to be granted, Puerto Rico would be okay. Just in general both
sides could see benefits and granting statehood to Puerto Rico is a great

Environmental Problems in El Salvador
With a total land mass of just 8,124 square miles, El Salvador is the smallest country in Central
America. Like many of its neighboring countries, it possesses very few natural resources. Since
the nation s economy is based predominantly on agriculture, it s no surprise that its citizens often
experience resource roller coasters . In addition, its long history of inappropriate land tenure and
ownership practices date all the way back to colonialism. Even more strikingly, sixty percent of El
Salvadors population is expected to live in the capital by 2010. As a result, El Salvador has to deal
with continuing environmental problems. The fact that the nation lies along the Pacific Ring of
fire doesn t help either, which subjects... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite receiving six feet of rainfall each year, most of the nation s water is highly
contaminated. In fact, thousands are killed each year due to water contamination, many of
whom are children. At the same time, most of the citizens of the nation cannot afford bottled
water. After the twelve year civil war destroyed much of the country s infrastructure, poor areas
became even poorer. Homes and water sources had been destroyed by militia during the war.
After returning home, some citizens chose to hand dig wells in order to obtain drinking water.
However, many others went to their nearest stream, river or pond to collect water. These unsafe
and contaminated water sources caused many people to become ill with intestinal diseases.
According to Ricardo Navarro, El Salvador s government has failed to protect its most precious
resource: Farmers have cut down forests that used to store rain water. Ranchers have allowed
their livestock to pollute rivers. Communities have put latrines too close to shallow wells. Others,
such as Marisol Prima Ponza, who runs a government dispensary that tracks the health of 375
children in several communities, believe that things are improving. There have been fewer cases
of diarrhea, she says. For example, from January to August of this year I have only recorded 17
cases. Ponza also added that these improvements are due to several projects that

The Forest Of Gombe By Jane Goodall
Before science is introduced to the human society, people always use religious beliefs to
describe the mysterious phenomenon. However, as science becomes advanced, people
gradually lost in the relationship between it and religious beliefs. In the essay In the Forest of
Gombe , Jane Goodall spends long time with chimpanzees in the forests to recover from her
husband s death. During this period, she learns new ideas from the chimps and finds herself
back, and understands the complicated relationship between scientific ideas and religious
beliefs. Thus, to uncover peace, people have to understand themselves first instead of focusing
on problems permanently. People have the space to understand themselves when stay with
animals, and learn many meaningful ideas from them. When people lost their families, they
cannot accept it because they rarely face this kind of situations. Before her husband passes
away, Goodall believes in god. However, after losing her husband, Goodall angry at the
unjustness and starts to reject the god. To seek for healing, she decides to go to the forest and
stay with chimpanzees in Gombe. However, in the forest, animals deal with death in a totally
different way. Dead body can be finding everywhere and death is happening at all times. Thus,
animals treat it normally. As Goodall says, And always there are the young ones to carry on the
life of the species (146). Although old ones will passes away when they are old, but young ones

Beatles Influences
When one thinks of The Beatles, some concepts that usually come to mind are the hippies,
psychedelic drugs such as marijuana, and their timeless classics such as Blackbird, Yesterday, and
Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. While these associations are founded in truth, the
Beatles are also closely connected with the politics of that time. Their song lyrics advocate for
peace and harmony in a world that was at war. The way they dressed, and the length of their hair
showed a disdain for the social norms of the time. Their greatest influences were famous for straying
away from the normal to find art in the unventured. The Beatleswere created in a time of
unpredictability, but their music will outlive them.
Prior to The Beatles, there were numerous precursors with different styles of music that existed that
came together to set the stage for the Beatles to become successful throughout the world and
throughout popular music. When the Beatles first became popular, rock and roll was only about
fifteen years old at that point, although they did have iconic musicians who they looked up to and
aspired to be like. John Lennon stated himself in an interview saying, If there hadn t been an
Elvis, there would not have been The Beatles. The band even did a cover of one of Elvis popular
songs All shook Up. The group also adopted other influences into their music such as using a sitar in
some of their songs. The sitar is not an instrument commonly

Small Beginnings
I always heard growing up, Great things can emerge from small beginnings . My mom made sure

with small businesses and ministries, for our church was small. Unfortunately, things did not work
for our church, so we had shut down. My family then attended Family Christian Center (FCC) in
Munster, Indiana. FCC is a mega church with fancy lighting, a ginormous stage, and large screens.
The pastor of the church had great illustrated messages.
I attended Two52 Youth Culture, FCC s youth ministry. There I met Sade. Everyone enjoyed her
company she always had a positive attitude. She helped those dealing with depression, substance
abuse, dysfunctional households and financial hardships the same problems she went through as
a teen. She led youth meetings on Tuesdays in which anyone can learn theater and dance. We
would meet in a cafeteria and have a brief bible study accompanied with short skits, then
followed by snacks and practice. Sade also wanted us to show our talent beyond Two52, so she
started a pop out team. We visited malls and danced amid the crowds. Johnny, a teen guitarist
serenaded strangers while the rest of us pass out flyers.
Sade shared dream of owning a business. She wanted a center where teenagers learn all about the
Arts. She talked about having art classes, drum sessions, guitar lessons, photography, and of course,

India s Ban On Tobacco Advertising
India in 2001 proposed a ban on tobacco advertisement in an effort to curb tobacco use with
adolescents. It was met with sharp criticism from the tobacco industry. However, some saw it as
a great move by the government in looking after the welfare of its citizens. I hope to explore in
the essay each side s voice as well as deal with the myriad of issues the government faced upon the
bans proposal. Lastly I will give my opinion on what position the government should take. One the
main arguments for this proposed ban was that the tobaccoindustry was targeting children. In fact
citing an internal documents from the tobacco industry that referred to 14 to 24 year olds as
their targets (Reynold, 2010). Recognizing this report for India was extremely important. Due to
the increased health problems of smoking by targeting a younger age bracket they would
effectively increase the weight the government had to carry when it comes to providing health
care for its citizens. The government also had in its favor the fact that in all but one case smoking
use by young people had decreased when these bans where put in effect. The government s
argument for banning tobacco ads can be summed up pretty simply. They were trying to watching
out for the safety of their citizens and were working toward the betterment of India. The
government had the advantage of being able to take the moral high road and being able to paint
the tobacco industry as the devil .The Nays in this case were represented

Essay on Two Ageing Theories and Examples
There are two theories of ageing. The disengagement theory is when the elderly unfortunately start
to give up with activities or social life. They become withdrawn from society. This is when you
disengage from any way of contact or interaction. The reason for disengagement theory may be
because physical functions deteriorate. There are three phases of disengagement theory. These are
shrinkage of life space is when you are not working or have no contact with friends and family.
You don t get to meet new people. You decide not to take up any hobbies or activities. The second
phase is increased individuality. This is when you become independent and what others do does not

The activity theory is when you will carry on with any activities or interests that you will have.
This is to stay physically and mentally active. You may start to disengage with some things such as
leaving job or leaving family however you will start new activities that you may have an interest in.
A theory is an explanation or reason for that fact.
In 1966 Bromley argued that people do engagement but need to remain active in order to prevent
disengagement to cause major problems. He said that it is important to have an interest in some
activities because being disengaged can have an effect on an individual and lead them to isolation
and depression.
A theory of ageing is a explanation or reason for the natural cause of ageing. It explains the
changes a person goes through when they age. Theories can be proved or sided by laws and facts
and tested hypotheses.
Disengagement theory
An example of disengagement theory is when a pensioner quits his job or does not take up any
hobbies. They may just stay at home and not even socialise with friends and family.
Advantages of the disengagement theory are people can start to rest and not worry about anything.
They become independent and take their mind off things. This may be because they are
understandable that it is the final stages of life so they may want to be independent and not do
anything. However there are many disadvantages of the disengagement theory. When a person
disengages, they are

Hyperborean Legend Essay
There were no real evidence on the existence of an everlasting life. Humans have never went to
this extent because of aging and diseases that cause death. The reason why people are desperately
aiming for an eternal is fear of the death, more especially the unknown of what comes next. That
fear triggers many to believe there must be an upcoming of events right after death. However, this
suggests that there is no evidence of immortality, but it is a set of belief created by mankind to
reassure death, and many philosophers such as David Hume disapproved it.

During the 19th century, five main phases have characterized immigration in Australia. The Gold

Greek Gods and Goddess
The Greek Gods:
Ancient vs. Modern Views
According to ancient Greek mythology the Greek gods and goddesses had at one time lived the
savage, brutal and ugly life of humans. Eventually, however, they managed to rise above this
ancient fierceness to become the nineteen elder gods and goddesses the Greeks knew as The
Titans, who ruled the earth in a primordial era before the Olympian gods overthrew them. The
ancient Greeks of the first millennium before the Christian era believed that the ruler of the Titans
was Cronus, who was rebelled against and ultimately dethroned by his own son Zeus. When faced
with the choice between who to support, most of the Titan gods and goddesses decided to fight
with Cronus against Zeus, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ancient Greeks firmly believed in the divinity and power of the Titans and Olympians. They
worshipped these gods and goddesses, feared them, implored them for help, and considered them
responsible for everything that happened on earth. Today, most of the people who are interested in
Greek mythology and in the gods and goddesses of Olympus consider their interest purely
scholarly. Other people who study Greek mythology do so for simple entertainment, or to
satisfy their curiosity about the Olympian gods and goddesses, who were certainly colorful,
vibrant, and interesting figures. The relationships of the gods and goddesses with one another,
and their love affairs, disputes, triumphs, and tragedies are fascinating to some of us today, for
they were all related, and always seemed to be intent upon some mischief or grand scheme that
involved love, betrayal, or intrigue. In fact, life on Mount Olympus reminds many modern
students of Greek mythology as one big soap opera, for despite their perceived divinity by the
ancient Greeks, the gods and goddesses acted in very human ways, and displayed human
emotions, flaws, and weaknesses. These characteristics are what scholars of today find so
interesting about the Titans and Olympians, for the portraits of the gods and goddesses of ancient
Greece are in fact portraits of the ancient Greeks themselves. The society of the gods and goddesses

Ronald Reagan s Autobiography
Reagan s autobiography can be split into two distinct parts: Reagan before he became a
politician, and Reagan after he became a politician. The former, in total number of years, covers
the vast majority of Reagan s life. Interestingly, he spends the lesser amount of time describing
this part of his life in his book. Reagan narrates his childhood growing up in Illinois, where he
was born into a relatively poor family. He played football during his high school years, which
helped convince Eureka College in Iowa to accept him. He paid his tuition by using his savings
and by doing service work for the college. It was at Eureka College where Reagan majored in

He made no doubts that he was an outstanding communicator; he recalls the responses of the

practiced politics. For example, he was a staunch adherent to the 11th Commandment . Some
Republicans followed this ethic, and it forbid one from attacking a fellow party member on any
basis other than policy. Reagan was also one to learn not cut himself from the past, whether it
was in his own past or in world history. His past experiences influenced his policy making when
he remembered his father leading an organization during the Great Depression that helped the
unemployed find work. The pride in the workmen s eyes once they found they could be self
sufficient once again inspired Reagan to fight against the excesses of the New Deal which brought
dependence on government and a feeling of worthlessness among Americans. Finally, his reasoning

The Things They Carried Literary Analysis
In The Things They Carried Tim O Brien relies heavily on lists as a literary device. O Brien
focuses on three distinct types of lists. These lists include military equipment, personal items and
emotional or psychological strain. The lists serve a higher purpose, O Brien uses these lists to
introduce each character in the story and give the reader insight into what mattered most to each of
the men. O Brien s use of lists as a means of character development then as a way to counteract the
chaos and uncertainty of war sets The Things They Carried apart from other war literature. @ The
first of these lists contained the necessities or near necessities including: can openers, pocket

Lieutenant Cross uses Martha as an escape from the reality of the war. Lieutenant Cross
fantasizes about romantic trips with Martha to beautiful places as he trudged through swamps
and forests. In, the evening Cross reads letters from Martha and contemplates her feelings for
him. The thought of Martha is so prevalent in Lieutenant Cross s head, the war is hardly
mentioned in the first few pages of the story. Even when Ted Lavender dies, it only takes up one
sentence, before transitioning back to Martha. Even though she fills him with doubt, worry,
love and longing; Lieutenant Cross would rather focus on Martha than the possibility of death.
Martha is representative of the emotional baggage soldiers carry, To carry something was to
hump it, as when Lieutenant Jimmy Cross humped his love for Marth up the hills and through
the swamps (O Brien 5). O Brien, is showing readers that Lieutenant Cross is not only carrying
the weight of his gear, but also the weight of his love for Martha. His love for Martha weighs
heavy on his heart, and his thoughts about her seems to become an obsession. @ After Lavender

Are We Responsible For Our Actions
Are We Responsible For Our Actions The chance and uncertainty of randomness is an explanation
of freedom. Given this act it would break the causal chain and abolish determinisms freedom.
(Doyle 1,2) For human beings to have free will they are required to have some sort of
randomness. If their actions are a direct consequence of a random event they are not responsible for
their actions. Interdeterminism requires certainty to establish the knowledge and the laws of nature.
Strawson and Sartre have very different views regarding free will. Throughout the paper, the idea of
responsibility based on our actions and the issues of humanbeings not having free will is discussed.

With freedom comes true responsibility. What you do depends on who you are and who you
are depends on your genetics and earlier experiences which human beings have no control and
are not responsible of. You start to gain responsibility for who you are by your later actions. His
idea that everything depends on your genetics and early experience plays a role. (4,2) Even with
that it wont be able to restore your responsibility because when something is random it is
uncaused. This is why human beings are not responsible for their own actions. An example of
moral responsibility is if I had to choose between something. (4,4) I could be walking into the
mall where I have the exact amount of money to buy the pair of shoes I needed to match my
dress for a party. While walking in I was approached by a homeless man asking for money. I have
to make my decision to walk right past the man and buy the shoes or give him my money. This
idea I do not have the freedom to choose and I am ultimately responsible for the decision I make.

However, the inquiry at hand does not emphasize the hatred among the two houses, but instead,
questions their reasoning for such an ongoing rivalry. Friar Lawrence additionally states, For this

the conflict between the households portray no viable reason, but it troubles those involved, such as

Weaknesses Of Literature
A bewildering number of research reports are published annually. The reports differ with regard to
quality, comprehensibility, and relevance to practice (MГҐrtensson et.al, 2016). Furthermore, the
studies may have multiple strengths and weaknesses depending on the research methodology they
employ. Therefore, to establish a solid foundation for research on any subject and to prevent the
replication of inaccurate information, it is essential that scholars critically evaluate the available
scientific evidence (MГҐrtensson et al., 2016). The critical evaluation of philosophies or claims is
crucial in the development of independent thinkers and informed decision makers. It is the only
way of distinguishing among differing claims of truths and determining the credibility or
trustworthiness of different viewpoints. On that note, this essay seeks to analyze two pieces of
literature that try to answer the question as to whether the stimulant use is related to positive
academic performance among college students. In specific, the paper will analyze the strengths
and weaknesses of the two studies and discuss the factors, which influence evidence based

Eunuchs
In the medieval Islamdom, the government was to employ castration, mandatory celibacy and

social practice was to destroy existing family, affiliation and to deploy them into a less

Sarah-Elizabeth Atunrase Final Paper
Sarah Elizabeth Atunrase Final Paper 5/9/18 Final Paper The two behavioral concepts I
recognized in the DeWaal paper were true altruism and empathy. Altruism is defined as altruism
without obvious advantages for the actor (DeWaal). Reciprocal altruism is the act of giving aid or
preforming an act of kindness in order to receive delayed benefits or even immediate benefits
(Lecture 23: Empathy and Altruism). In order to participate in altruistic acts the species must have
empathy. Empathy is important because in order to perform these acts of kindness one has to
understand the emotionof another and be able to imagine what someone else is going through.

Freedom Extended Definition
Freedom Lives Within
Three people are walking down a New York City street. One is a Black man, one is an Asian
woman, and the other person is a White man. One can easily picture the three people walking
beside one another because the image is not bizarre or strange, rather; the image is completely
normal. The vision is normal because these three American citizens have the freedom to walk
where they choose, with whom they choose. The word freedom is often overlooked and taken for
granted by those who have it. A popular idea of freedom is: Freedom lets someone do whatever he
chooses to do. Although this thought of freedom is technically correct, the phrase barely scratches
the surface of the idea of freedom.

Benefits Of High Intensity Power Training
In today s society, the overall trend and goal is to become fit and to reduce common
health risks such as obesity and diabetes. Many new programs have been developed to provide
people with the resources and community to achieve their goal of fitness. CrossFit is an example
of a recent exercise trend that have been exploding in popularity. CrossFit is a program created
by Greg Glassman and Lauren Jenai in 1996 but was not established until 2000. The original
CrossFit gym was brought up in Santa Cruz, California. Despite positive ratings, the CrossFit
program has been investigated for elevated risk of injuries and health. CrossFit gained popularity
across the world as a competitive fitness sport that promote a carried and high intensity workout
regimen incorporating elements of weightlifting, high intensity interval training, and gymnastics
(Lu et al.,2015). This program is practiced for weight loss, improvement of health related risks,
and improvement of body composition.
Some researchers proposed that high intensity power training that are CrossFit based can
improve maximal aerobic fitness and body composition of a person. Smith, Sommer, Starkoff,
and Devor (2013) designed a 10 week CrossFit program that consists of high intensity interval
training for their subjects. They studied 54 individuals that varied in fitness level and gender, but

Bi-Articular Strength Lab Report
In order to test the passive sufficiency of a bi articular structure, such as a muscle, both joints which
that structure crosses must first be identified. Additionally, the movements of those two joints
which will constrain that structure must be identified. Next, one joint must be selected, and placed
into the position that may constrain the structure. At the same time, the other joint must be placed
in the position which will NOT put further strain on that structure. The selected joint must then be
measured for its range of motion. Next, the same must be done with the selected joint, but in
contrast, the other joint must be placed in the position which WILL further constrain the bi
articular structure. Once that has been done, the selected joint s range of motion must be measured
once more.
If the range of motion of the selected joint is equal when the other joint is in both positions, the bi
articular structure is passively sufficient. If the range of motion of the selected joint is smaller in
the selected joint when the other joint is in a position that will put further strain on the bi articular
structure, that structure is not passively sufficient.
The rectus femoris crosses both the hip and knee. In order to test its passive sufficiency, either of
the joints ranges of motion could be measured. In this example, range of motion will be measured
at the hip. The rectus femoris will be most constrained when the knee is flexed and the hip is
extended. For this test, the

beauties and simplicities of life, but begins to realize that society rejects him because of his
revolting appearance. This is due to Victor s ignorance of the monster s feelings and knowledge,
because Victor never told the monster what he was, a hideous and revolting creature. Victor blames
himself for these innocent crimes committed by the monster that he created and silently goes crazy,
then dies from becoming very ill. Before his death, Victor asked his friend Walton to kill the
monster, because he didn t have the strength. His motivation, the monster, drove him to the brink of
insanity and eventually death.
In the novel The Picture of Dorian Grey, Dorian, the novel s main character, is influenced greatly
by his friend and mentor, Lord Henry, and kills himself because he listens to everything that Lord
Henry says and believes it. For example, Dorian explains to Lord Henry that he went out to the
country and became a changed man, a good man. He had killed Basil and admitted to Lord Henry
that he did so.Lord Henry mocks him and doesn t believe him. Lord Henry tells him that a human

The Tragedy of Prince Hamlet
King Hamlet s death left a mark on everyone in the castle, after a while that all began to change
when Claudius married Hamlet s mother. Hamlet felt that everybody should be mourning his father
s death, and he felt betrayed by the sudden marriage. Hamlet becomes mad once he sees his father
as a ghost and seeks to avenge his father s death, not knowing that this would lead to his death.
The grief of King Hamlet s death and the reactions of his loved ones changed Prince Hamlet s
life by showing signs of post traumatic stress disorder. King Hamlet s death left a big mark on
his son Prince Hamlet, he was Hamlets idol. Hamlet wanted to commit suicide because he was
still mourning the death of his father, but he didn t because he thought of the consequences of
purgatory, where he would not go to heaven or hell but remain as a lost soul in the world (
Hamlet s ) These reactions relate to PTSD because Hamlet cannot let his father go and he also
suffers by the reactions of his loved ones who are calm and happy for Gertrude and Claudius.
Less than two months after his father s death, Hamlet noticed the reactions of his loved ones, his
mother married King Hamlet s brother Claudius whom became king after King Hamlet died, no
one had an issue with their marriage the only one who was disturbed by the marriage was Prince
Hamlet and he was disturbed by the reactions of his loved ones and everybody else. As the marriage

How Presidents Have Too Much Power
Most of the specifications for the executive branch in the Constitution, other than how he is to
be elected, have to deal with the interactions between Congress and the President. The president
can (fill in the blank) but only if (this part) of Congress approves. The powers of the president
have been interpreted widely so that he has more power than I believe the Framers intended.
They wanted him to be able to check Congress with veto power and be the head of the military.
However, I think that presidents nowadays have too much power. They are active in trying force
their policy agenda through Congress, manage foreign relations, and act as the administrative
head of the entire nation. The textbook lays it out well in, The vast size of the executive branch
and the number and complexity of decisions that must be made each day pose a challenge for the
White House. (316) In order to deal with the stresses put on the executive branch, there are
thousands of employees that work to give the president the information that he needs to make
decisions. He has advisors, cabinet members, legislative liaisons; the list goes on and on, but he
is the person who actually gets to make all of the choices. The President is limited in some ways
and given more power in other ways by the structure laid out for him in the Constitution, and
evolved to be what it is now. Based on the way that the President s office was created, the makeup
of the Congress can present a challenge or an

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings Comparative Essay
Comparing Two Compelling Memoirists
A strong and influential memoirist is able to grasp the reader s attention and dive into topics
bigger than themselves. Maya Angelou, the author of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,
describes herself as neither a hero nor a victim as she recollects her past. Growing up, Maya
Angelou not only suffered from white prejudice and gender inequality, she was presented with
situations that made her feel powerless. According to Angelou, The Black female is assaulted in
her tender years by all those common forces of nature at the same time that she is caught in the
tripartite crossfire of masculine prejudice, whites illogical hate and Black lack of power,
(Angelou, 272). However, she found herself persevering through all of the adversity she faced and
accepted her reality: the fact that the adult American Negro female emerges a formidable character
is often met with amazement (Angelou, 272). Angelou did an exceptional job of describing herself
as neither a hero nor a victim in her memoir, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.
Neither being a hero nor a victim as a protagonist is just one of the ways a strong and influential
memoirist is able to succeed at writing a memoir. A great memoirist also has to be able to utilize the

than it was personal compared to Angela s Ashes. While reading Angelou s memoir, I was able to
picture what she had to live through as a result of prior knowledge of American history. I knew
the historical context of the racial divide and gender inequality going on within her life. Overall, I
enjoyed reading I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings far better than Angela s Ashes because Angelou
kept to her thoughts and utilized more characteristics of what it takes to become a strong and

One Survivor Remembers Film Analysis
In the movie One Survivor Remembers narrated by Gerda Weissmann there are various scenes
that are very powerful. One of many scenes that I feel was the most powerful to me was when
Geirda explained to us how she left her mother. I m not that certain as how she told her story, but
I remember her saying it started with SS officers coming to her town and taking all the women in
cattle cars. Since Geirda was young they sent her with the other young girls of the town and
separated her from her mother since her mother was older of age. Her mother and her would then
be separated from each other and unfortunately never see each other again. She explains that when
they grouped her up with the younger girls in the town and she saw how her mother was sent with...

A SS officer had to grab her and take her off from her mother. The SS officer had told her that she
was too young to die and for that reason she could not go with her mother. This scene was the
most powerful and tragic to me because I myself could not bare being apart form my mother in
such a time like back then. I possibly could just not imagine my life without my mother. My
mother is my all and everything. For that reason I believe that particular scene felt so powerful
specifically to me. This scene could offer various lessons or messages, but the one I think is the
biggest is to value and respect your parents because you never know if you will see them the
next day. The Nazis dehumanized Jews in many ways. One of the ways Jews were dehumanized
was by transporting them to places in cramped cattle cars like if they were some type of animals.
They were called animals and made less of. An object was valued more than they were. The Nazis

The Suffering Servant Of Isaiah 52 And 53
THE SUFFERING SERVANT OF ISAIAH 52 AND 53
The book of Isaiah provides a message to the nation of Israel and is one of the most powerful
books of prophecy in the Bible. The prophet spoke of events to come that many have attempted to
discern. Scholars, Rabbis and Christian Clergy differ in their interpretations of these passages in
Isaiah 52 and 53.
This paper will address these biblical passages in Isaiah 52 and 53, which describes a suffering
servant to the Lord God. There has been a debate as to whether these passages where describing
the Messiah who would come to restore Israel as God s chosen people or if the passage was
describing the nation of Israel as the suffering servant . Christian scholars and clergy view these
passages as describing Jesus who they affirm as the Messiah. The text is written in a poetic form
and flows from one subject to another, however, many view these passages as being extremely
detailed prophecy about the Messiah to come. I will point out key passages and explain how
these passages provide clarity about whom the writer was speaking. This paper will point out why
Jesus is the suffering servant , who is mentioned in Isaiah and explain why the suffering servant is
not the nation of Israel as others propose.

Iraq is a beautiful country with many sites and plants. It has many kinds of natural beauties such
as its wild oak, hawthorn and pine trees. Most of their trees are in the Zagros Mountains. Though
many parts of their forests have been reduced to little bushes of little growth but they are
working on reforestation. There are not many trees on ground level because of the little rainfall.
Winter is the rainy season while summer is the dry season. This is why crops in the winter are not
watered while crops in the summer are watered. The weather in winter is quite warm during the
day but comes close to freezing at night. The general climate is semi arid in the northern
mountains. Though there is not much water and its mainland is desert there are a number of
animals who have been able to adapt to this climate. Some animals who live in Iraq are the gazelle,
antelope, cheetah, pig, hare, and hyena. Most of a few sea animals are in the Euphrates and

Essay On The Father Figure In Romeo And Juliet
A father figure is someone who is respected for his paternal qualities and may be an emotional
substitute for a father. William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story where a pair of
star cross d lovers take their lives when their feuding families prevent them from being together.
When Romeo and Juliet fall in love, Friar Lawrence plays a pivotal role acting as a father figure
which influences several actions in the play. Friar s role as a father figure in Romeo and Juliet
is central to understanding his support for Romeo s love for Juliet, his advice for Romeo to go
to Mantua, and his guidance for Juliet to fake her death. Friar s acceptance for Romeo s love for
Juliet is one way that Shakespeare portrays his role as a father figure in the play. An example of
this can be seen in Act 2, Scene 3 when Friar reprimands Romeo just as a father would for being
out all night and falling in love with another girl. The Friar states, Young men s love then lies
/ Not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes. Friar says this to Romeo when he has fallen in love
with a girl named Juliet so soon after being in love with Rosaline. This proves how Friar acts as
a father because he cares for Romeo and his well being even though he is not his son. He takes
the time to understand Romeo s situation and give him some useful advice on what his next
steps should be. Friar s support for Romeo s love is just one way Shakespeare portrays his
fatherly figure in the tragic play of Romeo and Juliet. Secondly, Friar is at his most fatherly when
Romeo has killed Tybalt and is distressed about being banished. The Friar tells Romeo to go to
Mantua and be patient until things have settled down in the town of Verona. After some time has
passed and fixed some issues, Friar tells Romeo that the two lovers can once again be reunited. He
states: But look thou stay not till the watch be set, For then thou canst not pass to Mantua, Where
thou shalt live till we can find a time To blaze your marriage, reconcile your friends, Beg pardon of
the Prince, and call thee back With twenty hundred thousand times more joy Than thou

Poverty and crime has a relationship that goes hand in hand and have been portrayed by specialists
from all fields, from sociologists to market analysts. Today, the legislature is attempting to manage
poverty and confront the issues of criminal activities as they attempt to build up their nation s
economy and society. Beginning from the 1970s, researchers in the US pointed increasingly at the
connection between unemployment, crime, and destitution (Steinbuch, 2013). An assortment of
social, financial, and mental components may bring about dangerous practices, for example, armed

In 1671 Locke wrote two drafts of his essay which revolutionized English philosophy. His essay
was about the principles of morality and revealed religion. Locke concluded that questions about
religious and moral principles could be answered only after thorough investigation of the human
understanding and of human knowledge.5 He had many theories and ideas, which he spent
most of his life trying to find the answers to. Locke believes that everything existing or occurring
in a mind either is or includes an idea; and all human knowledge both starts from and is founded
on ideas .6 His ideas and essays caused people to get upset because of the newness of the ideas.
Locke believed that everyone should be equal to pursue what he or she wants. He believed that
everyone is born perfect and you build on what happen to you in your life. This is the theory of

Accounting is often described as a dull job that requires a mastery in crunching numbers. Despite accountings misconceptions, it is often considered one of the most satisfying jobs. One particular accounting title, Certified Public Accountant(CPA), is one of the most popular qualifications accountants seek out. To organize and represent CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) was formed. Today, AICPA is informing the public about accounting and uses the slogan Start Here, Go Places. • 3. Adultism Essay When I first saw what the topic was for this week s writing assignment, I was unaware what adultism was. I thought adultism was the same as ageism, so it was confusing to me. When I was looking up what adultism is, I did not know that it was discrimination against younger people. When I was a child, I can imagine a time where I did notice that my thoughts, feelings, rights, experiences were not given priority, in deference of the adults in the room. I mean when I younger adults would always say to me is you re only a kid, you would never understand . At family gatherings, my aunts and uncles would never include me in the conservations, they would just talk over me. One example that stood out to me the most was when my family would celebrate thanksgivings, myself and all the kids were not allowed to sit in the same room as the adults. We would have to sit in another room and sit at the kids table to eat our dinner on thanksgivings. As I got older I began to become mad at the fact that I was not included with the family dinner with my adultfamily members. Every year, I and my cousins would try to sit at the adult table but my... She would always say you can babysit, but your mother has to be with you, you cannot be alone. I feel like in a way that is adultism because my cousin who is an adult and I was not an adult at the time was looking down upon me and discriminating me because I was not an adult like my mother was. I feel like I experienced adultism a lot when I was in school. I think my teachers thought they were better than us when I was in grade school because they were older and they did not have any respect for many of the children in my classrooms. When my parents would discipline me as a child, I was never allowed to speak for myself or even defend myself, my parents just assumed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Women s Rights Is The Fight For Equality Women s rights is the fight for the idea that women should have equal rights with men. Over history, this has taken the form of gaining property rights, the women s suffrage, or the right of women to vote, reproductive rights, and the right to work for for equal pay. Women were conditioned to be treated like second class citizens solely because of their gender until a crucial movement in American history during the late nineteenth century that would inspire a long fight for equality for generations to come. The American women s movement was a tedious yet extraordinarily important movement that challenged the social norms of a patriarchal society for their own recognition. Overall, this paper will discuss the importance of women s labor... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First Women s Rights Convention was held in 1848. Approximately 300 activists meet in Seneca Falls, N.Y., to plan on how to achieve women s suffrage nationwide. Partakers, including Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, mark the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions, formed on the Declaration of Independence, which calls for equivalent treatment of women and men under the law and voting rights for women. The main organizer of the Seneca Falls Convention was Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who is deemed as one of the most important people that made an important change in women s rights. Stanton drafted the Declaration of Sentiments, Grievances, and Resolutions, that related to the Declaration of Independence. We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men and women are created equal. Among the 13 resolutions set forth in Stanton s Declaration was the goal of achieving the sacred right of franchise (History, Art and Archives). They stated the injustices and discrimination that women had to face with, they wanted the United States to adopt laws that protected the rights of married women, granting them the right to own property in their own name, keep their own earnings and retain guardianship of their children in case of divorce (Deborah Brown). • 5. Lord Of The Flies Civilization Analysis Within any civilization, there are multiple key components required in order to create a functioning society. As explained through Lord of the Flies by William Golding, these pivotal building blocks of a civilization can play a great part into bringing a group of people to society, or drag them all down into savagery. The conch shell is an excellent example of political legitimacy and democratic power. Although, while this device can be used for good; providing others with order and sanity, it can also be used for the utter destruction of a civilization. The conch shell in Lord of the Flies by William Goldingbegins as civilization and order, becomes the fragility of power and influence, and concludes with the collapse of any civilized thoughts. Civilization and order can be found within every society, and this is no exception within the group of boys in the beginning of the novel. Throughout the exposition of the story, governance over the group of boys was unknown. No order was established to influence the boys to cooperate and fulfill the needed tasks to get off the island. Although, there was a stillness about Ralph as he sat that marked him out: there was his size, and attractive appearance...yet most powerfully, there was the conch. The being that had blown that, had sat waiting for them on the platform with the delicate thing balanced on his knees, was set apart (Golding 22). The conch shell was able to control and demand a large audience. It provided Ralph with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Senator Royce West has been in office since January of 1993, so he has been in office for a total of 24 years. 2.One of the recent pieces of legislation authored by Royce West is the Texas State Senate Bill 121 (TX SB121) which relates to businesses that let people with bad credit borrow money in exchange for things such as titles etc. This bill was introduced to the Texas Senate on November 10th of 2014. Although education is a priority when it comes to policy priorities for West, health related policies are not too far behind. For example, West was coauthor to SB 481, which helps patients who have to pay high medical bills because their insurance does not cover certain procedures and allows them to seek help from the Texas Department of Insurance so that through mediation the bill can be balanced (New Law Helps Patients). This shows that there is agreement between the policy goals of TMA and West since their vision includes improving the health of all Texans which the bill, which is now law, helps with since Texans have the opportunity to be assisted so that medical bills can be reasonably paid for (Vision, Mission, and Goals). An additional bill that shows the agreement between the policy goals of TMA and West is the Texas Senate Bill 344, which has to do with the emergency medical personnel that is allowed to transport patients to emergency centers and strives to keep patients safe when experiencing emergencies by declaring who is able to transport them to emergency centers (Texas SB344). A little guilt can sometimes be a good thing, driving people to stay honest, do better and keep on the right path; however, a parent s guilt is oft exaggerated by their fierce drive to want nothing but the best for and from their children. Here are five ways in which you might be feeling guilty as a parent and why you are probably wrong about most of them: 1. You Can t Buy Your Child Everything They Want It s hard to just take a trip to your local superstore for a few groceries, without seeing a boatload of items your child is crying for. Most especially, though, if the other parent is out of the picture because they have serious problems that could negatively impact your household, you re doing the right thing. It s also very difficult for a single parent to successfully navigate the dating scene, due to lack of time, fear of meeting a psycho or introducing your kids to a new person, then having to say goodby because it didn t work out. Rather than feel guilty about your solo position, give yourself a well earned pat on the back for the job you re doing and know that your kids will grow up as outstanding people, just the same. 5. Despite receiving six feet of rainfall each year, most of the nation s water is highly contaminated. In fact, thousands are killed each year due to water contamination, many of whom are children. At the same time, most of the citizens of the nation cannot afford bottled water. After the twelve year civil war destroyed much of the country s infrastructure, poor areas became even poorer. Homes and water sources had been destroyed by militia during the war. After returning home, some citizens chose to hand dig wells in order to obtain drinking water. However, many others went to their nearest stream, river or pond to collect water. These unsafe and contaminated water sources caused many people to become ill with intestinal diseases. According to Ricardo Navarro, El Salvador s government has failed to protect its most precious resource: Farmers have cut down forests that used to store rain water. Ranchers have allowed their livestock to pollute rivers. Communities have put latrines too close to shallow wells. Others, such as Marisol Prima Ponza, who runs a government dispensary that tracks the health of 375 children in several communities, believe that things are improving. There have been fewer cases of diarrhea, she says. For example, from January to August of this year I have only recorded 17 cases. Beatles Influences When one thinks of The Beatles, some concepts that usually come to mind are the hippies, psychedelic drugs such as marijuana, and their timeless classics such as Blackbird, Yesterday, and Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. While these associations are founded in truth, the Beatles are also closely connected with the politics of that time. Their song lyrics advocate for peace and harmony in a world that was at war. The way they dressed, and the length of their hair showed a disdain for the social norms of the time. Their greatest influences were famous for straying away from the normal to find art in the unventured. The Beatleswere created in a time of unpredictability, but their music will outlive them. Prior to The Beatles, there were numerous precursors with different styles of music that existed that came together to set the stage for the Beatles to become successful throughout the world and throughout popular music. When the Beatles first became popular, rock and roll was only about fifteen years old at that point, although they did have iconic musicians who they looked up to and aspired to be like. John Lennon stated himself in an interview saying, If there hadn t been an Elvis, there would not have been The Beatles. The band even did a cover of one of Elvis popular songs All shook Up. There I met Sade. Everyone enjoyed her company she always had a positive attitude. She helped those dealing with depression, substance abuse, dysfunctional households and financial hardships the same problems she went through as a teen. She led youth meetings on Tuesdays in which anyone can learn theater and dance. We would meet in a cafeteria and have a brief bible study accompanied with short skits, then followed by snacks and practice. Sade also wanted us to show our talent beyond Two52, so she started a pop out team. We visited malls and danced amid the crowds. Johnny, a teen guitarist serenaded strangers while the rest of us pass out flyers. Sade shared dream of owning a business. She wanted a center where teenagers learn all about the Arts. It was met with sharp criticism from the tobacco industry. However, some saw it as a great move by the government in looking after the welfare of its citizens. I hope to explore in the essay each side s voice as well as deal with the myriad of issues the government faced upon the bans proposal. Lastly I will give my opinion on what position the government should take. One the main arguments for this proposed ban was that the tobaccoindustry was targeting children. In fact citing an internal documents from the tobacco industry that referred to 14 to 24 year olds as their targets (Reynold, 2010). Recognizing this report for India was extremely important. Due to the increased health problems of smoking by targeting a younger age bracket they would effectively increase the weight the government had to carry when it comes to providing health care for its citizens. The government also had in its favor the fact that in all but one case smoking use by young people had decreased when these bans where put in effect. The government s argument for banning tobacco ads can be summed up pretty simply. They were trying to watching out for the safety of their citizens and were working toward the betterment of India. The government had the advantage of being able to take the moral high road and being able to paint the tobacco industry as the devil .The Nays in this case were represented ... He said that it is important to have an interest in some activities because being disengaged can have an effect on an individual and lead them to isolation and depression. A theory of ageing is a explanation or reason for the natural cause of ageing. It explains the changes a person goes through when they age. Theories can be proved or sided by laws and facts and tested hypotheses. Disengagement theory An example of disengagement theory is when a pensioner quits his job or does not take up any hobbies. The reason why people are desperately aiming for an eternal is fear of the death, more especially the unknown of what comes next. Given this act it would break the causal chain and abolish determinisms freedom. (Doyle 1,2) For human beings to have free will they are required to have some sort of randomness. If their actions are a direct consequence of a random event they are not responsible for their actions. Interdeterminism requires certainty to establish the knowledge and the laws of nature. (4,2) Even with that it wont be able to restore your responsibility because when something is random it is uncaused. This is why human beings are not responsible for their own actions. An example of moral responsibility is if I had to choose between something. While walking in I was approached by a homeless man asking for money. I have to make my decision to walk right past the man and buy the shoes or give him my money. Not only does the conflict between the households portray no viable reason, but it troubles those involved, such as the Montague, Friar Lawrence. Lord Capulet and Lord Montague may contain mindsets strictly based off the feud between them. Nevertheless, as elders, they display unawareness of the troubles the rivalry has brought to their peers as well as the disturbance it precipitates for thoughts of impartiality from youths. Moreover, the audience can infer how if these characters consider the thoughtless purpose of the conflict, problems would not have surfaced when Friar Lawrence marries Romeo and Juliet, where his only motive composes of the elimination of the Capulet Montague strife. • 35. Weaknesses Of Literature A bewildering number of research reports are published annually. The reports differ with regard to quality, comprehensibility, and relevance to practice (MГҐrtensson et.al, 2016). Furthermore, the studies may have multiple strengths and weaknesses depending on the research methodology they employ. Therefore, to establish a solid foundation for research on any subject and to prevent the replication of inaccurate information, it is essential that scholars critically evaluate the available scientific evidence (MГҐrtensson et al., 2016). The critical evaluation of philosophies or claims is crucial in the development of independent thinkers and informed decision makers. It is the only way of distinguishing among differing claims of truths and determining the credibility or trustworthiness of different viewpoints. Altruism is defined as altruism without obvious advantages for the actor (DeWaal). Reciprocal altruism is the act of giving aid or preforming an act of kindness in order to receive delayed benefits or even immediate benefits (Lecture 23: Empathy and Altruism). In order to participate in altruistic acts the species must have empathy. • 41. Bi-Articular Strength Lab Report In order to test the passive sufficiency of a bi articular structure, such as a muscle, both joints which that structure crosses must first be identified. Additionally, the movements of those two joints which will constrain that structure must be identified. Next, one joint must be selected, and placed into the position that may constrain the structure. At the same time, the other joint must be placed in the position which will NOT put further strain on that structure. The selected joint must then be measured for its range of motion. Next, the same must be done with the selected joint, but in contrast, the other joint must be placed in the position which WILL further constrain the bi articular structure. Once that has been done, the selected joint s range of motion must be measured once more. If the range of motion of the selected joint is equal when the other joint is in both positions, the bi articular structure is passively sufficient. If the range of motion of the selected joint is smaller in the selected joint when the other joint is in a position that will put further strain on the bi articular structure, that structure is not passively sufficient. The rectus femoris crosses both the hip and knee. In order to test its passive sufficiency, either of the joints ranges of motion could be measured. How Presidents Have Too Much Power Most of the specifications for the executive branch in the Constitution, other than how he is to be elected, have to deal with the interactions between Congress and the President. The president can (fill in the blank) but only if (this part) of Congress approves. The powers of the president have been interpreted widely so that he has more power than I believe the Framers intended. They wanted him to be able to check Congress with veto power and be the head of the military. However, I think that presidents nowadays have too much power. They are active in trying force their policy agenda through Congress, manage foreign relations, and act as the administrative head of the entire nation. The textbook lays it out well in, The vast size of the executive branch and the number and complexity of decisions that must be made each day pose a challenge for the White House. • 51. Essay On The Father Figure In Romeo And Juliet A father figure is someone who is respected for his paternal qualities and may be an emotional substitute for a father. William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story where a pair of star cross d lovers take their lives when their feuding families prevent them from being together. When Romeo and Juliet fall in love, Friar Lawrence plays a pivotal role acting as a father figure which influences several actions in the play. Friar s role as a father figure in Romeo and Juliet is central to understanding his support for Romeo s love for Juliet, his advice for Romeo to go to Mantua, and his guidance for Juliet to fake her death. Friar s acceptance for Romeo s love for Juliet is one way that Shakespeare portrays his role as a father figure in the play. An example of this can be seen in Act 2, Scene 3 when Friar reprimands Romeo just as a father would for being out all night and falling in love with another girl. The Friar states, Young men s love then lies / Not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes. Friar says this to Romeo when he has fallen in love with a girl named Juliet so soon after being in love with Rosaline. This proves how Friar acts as a father because he cares for Romeo and his well being even though he is not his son. He takes the time to understand Romeo s situation and give him some useful advice on what his next steps should be. Friar s support for Romeo s love is just one way Shakespeare portrays his fatherly figure in the tragic play of Romeo and Juliet. Secondly, Friar is at his most fatherly when Romeo has killed Tybalt and is distressed about being banished. The Friar tells Romeo to go to Mantua and be patient until things have settled down in the town of Verona. After some time has passed and fixed some issues, Friar tells Romeo that the two lovers can once again be reunited. He states: But look thou stay not till the watch be set, For then thou canst not pass to Mantua, Where thou shalt live till we can find a time To blaze your marriage, reconcile your friends, Beg pardon of the Prince, and call thee back With twenty hundred thousand times more joy Than thou ...
