Film Evaluation Essay
Writing a Film Evaluation Essay can be a challenging task that requires a combination of
analytical skills, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of cinematic elements. The difficulty
lies not only in expressing personal opinions but also in objectively evaluating the various
components of a film, such as cinematography, acting, storyline, and overall impact. Crafting a
well-structured essay involves not only summarizing the plot and providing an opinion but also
delving into the nuances that contribute to the film's success or failure.
One must navigate the fine line between subjective reactions and objective analysis, avoiding
overly biased perspectives while still conveying a sense of personal engagement with the film.
Additionally, researching the context of the film, understanding the director's vision, and
exploring any underlying themes add layers of complexity to the writing process. Addressing
these aspects requires a thoughtful and organized approach to ensure that the evaluation goes
beyond surface-level observations.
Moreover, constructing a coherent and flowing narrative in the essay requires a skillful use of
language and the ability to transition seamlessly between different aspects of the film. Balancing
description, analysis, and interpretation within the limited scope of an essay can be daunting.
Despite the difficulty, the challenge of writing a Film Evaluation Essay can be rewarding as it
allows the writer to engage deeply with the cinematic work and communicate their insights
effectively. It is an opportunity to showcase one's ability to critically assess art while conveying
a well-articulated perspective.
In conclusion, tackling a Film Evaluation Essay demands a blend of critical thinking, writing
proficiency, and a genuine passion for cinema. It is a task that requires time, effort, and a
willingness to delve into the intricacies of filmmaking. For those who find themselves struggling
with such assignments, it's worth noting that similar essays and more comprehensive assistance

Glutathione s Transferase Lab Report
Glutathione S Transferase (GST) is a detoxification enzyme which transfer
glutathione to toxic substance and can be used as a tag when fused to a protein of
interest. The purpose of this experiment was for us to determine which culture (A
and B) was treated with Isopropyl B D thiogalactoside (IPTG) and therefore would
express GST. The bacteriaE. coli BL21 carrying the pGEX 2T plasmid was used to
express GST proteinafter which protein extraction and GST purification from other
proteins where done. GST expression is controlled by the Lac operon promoter (Plac).
The Lac promoter sequence drives GST gene expression (transcription) and the lac
repressor gene encodes a protein that represses the lac promoter. When the lac
repressor gene is always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On our SDS PAGE, our protein standards were separated alongside our protein
samples which allowed determination of the sizes of our protein in our sample.
SDS denature proteins and coats them with a negative charge allowing for their
electrophoretic separation by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). As you
can see, after being stained with the coomassie blue, we could detect proteins of
various sizes and our unknown protein expressing GST was detected in our Pure B
sample (Figure 2). The distance travelled from the wells on the SDS PAGES by
our protein standards were measured and compared to our protein ladder in
Daltons (Table 2), from which we could construct our semi log plot. On the semi
log plot, our unknown protein within our Pure B travelled 27mm from the well
with a size of 29,000 Dalton (Figure 3). To identify the specific protein in the gel,
the western blotting method was used to detect which of the cultures (A or B)
contains GST (Figure 4). After the cassette was taken out of the electrophoresis unit,
colors of our protein standards appeared on top of our membrane surface. After
blocking, primary antibody incubation, and secondary antibody incubation, we could
clearly identify our GST in our Pure B and Crude B (Figure
Hannah Webster Foster s The Coquette ( 1797 ) And
William...
Hannah Webster Foster s The Coquette (1797) and William Hill Brown s The
Power of Sympathy (1789) are epistolary novels that outline the inevitable perils and
consequences (for women) of carelessly becoming a victim of male seduction. These
provocative novels allow readers to enter a sexual private sphere of society, one that
may have been deemed taboo, through letters depicting the art of seduction. Women
were expected to subscribe to the societal expectations of appropriate female behavior.
In addition, literacy was at transformative state at the staging of both novels; morals
lessons (within the household) could now be found in non biblical mediums of
literature. The divergence from reading for devotion to reading for entertainment and
intellect was pivotal. The perceived dangers of this, however, were that novels which
expose no particular Vice, and which recommend no particular Virtue, to the fair
Reader, though she may find amusement, must finish them without being impressed
with any particular idea (Brown, 7). Brown implies that, by misinterpreting seduction
novels, women would not be able to perform their political and social role as
republican mothers that these novels would penetrate their moral compass and leave
them vulnerable to the powers of seduction. The seduction that befall women in
Brown s The Power of Sympathy and Foster s The Coquette reinforce the expected
role of women in the New Republic, highlight the horrifying consequences that

Justice In Julius Caesar
Justice is often found after a situation has occurred and more times than not it is
seen through the eyes of revenge. Marc Antony, the main character, partakes in
this reality by trying to get revenge on Julius Caesar s, Marc Antony s best friend,
death. The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare literally and
symbolically delves into the choices that one makes when seeking revenge in the
name of justice. Marc Antony is highlighting themes of revenge as justice when he
vows to murder all the conspirators. After the murder of Julius Caesar, mark antony
talks to Caesar s dead body and tells him that the conspirators will pay for what they
had done: Cry Havoc! and let slip the dogs of war, That this foul deed shall smell

As Octavius, is Caesar s adopted son and is an ally to Antony, and Antony are
talking to Brutus and Cassius, is the leader of the conspirators, Octavius says,
Look, I draw a sword against conspirators. When think you that the sword goes up
again? Never, till Caesar s three and thirty wounds Be well avenged, or till another
Caesar Have added slaughter to the sword of traitors (183). Octavius wants what s
best for Caesar too, so he is threatening Brutus and Cassius to make sure that they
know they are in the wrong for killing Caesar. Octavius is using Caesar s sword to
threaten Octavius and Cassius because it makes it more meaningful if he were to
actually kill both of them Caesar s sword. When Cassius sees that Titinius, a friend
of Cassius, has been surrounded, by what was thought to be the enemy, Cassius
thought Titinius was going to die, so he decided to stab himself with Caesar s
sword: Caesar, thou art revenged, Even with the sword that killed thee (193).
Cassius first reaction was to use Caesar s sword to kill himself because he wanted to
find the most honorable way to die. Therefore, Caesar was able to avenge his own
death, even though Antony and Octavius are trying to get revenge for Caesar. After
Titinius found out that Cassius killed himself, Titinius grabbed
A Picture Of The Water Cycle
In fourth grade I was asked to draw a picture of the water cycle. The assignment
was simple but the concept of coloring the water at that time was difficult. As eight
years old I observed that water was colorless every time I used it to wash my hand
or drink it. However, it appeared to have a blue gray tint to it when I viewed it in
larger body of water such as the ocean. When I would touch the ocean water or
tried to store it for its beautiful color, I would once again be left with its colorless
property. The concept of water color was a paradox for me. No one seemed to
know why blue water from ocean would suddenly appear colorless when seen up
close. During that time I did not have access to a computer and did not know how
to operate one. Every day after school I would spend hours after hours researching
my question. After a long period of researching I finally found that wavelengths of
light pass through each matter differently depending on the material s composition.
Water molecules in the ocean appear blue because it absorbs longer wavelength
such as red and orange more strongly than shorter wavelengths such as blue, the
color we believe to observe. However, if there are impurities in water, the absorbed
light pattern differs, changing the way we observe the color of the water. My passion
for learning science initially sparked at the tender age of eight and it continues to
burn brighter every single day. Throughout my academic career I continuously
challenged
Yes The Future Looks Bright But The Moment Is Hell
Analysis
These first person point of view argumentative essay, Yes, the Future Looks Bright,
but the Moment Is Hell , by Shawn Mullin and Perspective on Men , by Daphne
Beckham are both understandable essay. Mullin talks about his stressful life in
college while he makes his point about working more than twenty hours a week has a
negative effect on college students. He used his experience and opinion to make his
argument more relevant and understandable from other s point of view. Beckham
simply states her perspective about men. Although she used poems and her own
experience to make it clear and understandable to the readers, essayby Mullin seems
better to me.
The reason I like his essay better then the other one is because I can relate to Mullin
s story, and I also agree with the points he made. I have been through some of the
situations that he described ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He did an exceptional job while he begins his essay explaining about the issues that
he was facing to let the readers understand his perspective. He then gathered
information and provide the facts and situations about the obstacles he was facing
on his college life. He also used the information that he experienced to support his
statements. As he made his point, he distinctly provided the reader with the solution
to the problems he was facing and he also explained how each of these solution
would work out. This made it extremely easy for his readers to follow.
The author made his point perfectly well, however he did not state the thesis on the
first paragraph. The point he was trying to make by talking about the problems that
he was facing was working more then twenty hours a week has a negative effect on
college student . I think that should be mentioned on the first

The Pipe Organ
The music it makes is as complex as it is majestic. The pipe organ is one of the
largest and most technically sophisticated instruments. Building one is an incredible
feat of engineering and craftsmanship. Early man discovered he could make music by
blowing across hollow reeds of different lengths. In ancient Egypt, an engineer s
device would later would become the basic technology of the pipe organ. A steady
airflow without mouth blowing while controlling air to each pipe to create different
notes. By the Middle ages, the pipe organ was a fixture in churches throughout
Europe. Johann Sebastian Bach composed his greatest works for organ while

He was born in Eisenach, Germany on March 21st, 1685 to a long rooted family of

synonymous with being a musician. His father Johann Ambrosius taught him how
to play musical instruments from an early age, and at the age of 7, Bach went to a
Lutheran school where he studied Latin and other subjects, which would later
impact Bach s career. Bach was profoundly religious and he saw everything that he
did as a composer and musician as basically an act of prayer. Bach s parents died

Persuasive Essay On Mental Health
It was October 1, 2017, at the Country Music Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada that
Stephen Paddock fired upon a concert, resulting in hundreds killed and wounded
altogether (Fox). Going back further to 2011, Jared Lee Loughner killed six and
injured twelve, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford (Moon 209). As more
and more mass shootings emerge, it s unfortunate to think such tragedies could be
avoided by involuntarily committing the perpetrator. As of 2017, involuntary
commitment, also known as civil commitment, is a law where the court can order the
mentally ill to get treatment against their consent so long as they pose a danger to
self or other (Evans and Salekin 325). By implementing a less restrictive version of
the current law where danger is not the only criteria, the U.S. can provide equal
access to mental health treatments, help get the homeless off the streets, and prevent
violent situations.
Occasionally while walking down the streets, a homeless man is seated against a
wall talking gibberish or a lady is pushing a cart around aimlessly for hours. That
same homeless man commonly overlooked by the law and passerby has the
potential to be just like the average middle class person, working a steady job,
having a family, and owning a home of his own but is unfortunately held back by
his mental illness. These people are unable to receive treatment due to having no
family, money, and because they don t impose any danger. On the other hand, less
restrictive involuntary commitment laws would allow for this person to enter a
treatment facility at no cost, help them get better, and start their life anew. For
example, less restrictive involuntary commitment laws would provide housing and
proper treatment to those who cannot afford or aren t able to get the help they need
on their own. By eliminating the worry of finding housing, a patient can focus more
on getting better mentally and getting off the streets for good. Supporters of the
housing first method agree that once homeless people have a safe, stable place to
live, it is easier to get well and look for work ( Homelessness ). Involuntary
commitment of the patient would allow a bed in a mental health facility, routine care,
and a healthy environment
David Grusin s On Golden Pond
David Grusin is the composer for On Golden Pond. He was the composer for The
Graduate and The Goonies which are films that I recognized but have not yet seen. I
selected On Golden Pond because I had not heard of the movie beforehand. The
1980s was full of electronic music; however, this film featured no electronic pop. The
filmis only instrumental, and due to the fact, the film focuses on an older couple
dealing with growing older and their time with a young man named Billy, I believe
the score is appropriate. When looking at the theme from The Goonies, the use of
piano and strings are apparent in both films.
From the beginning of the film, the score was a peaceful piano piece that went along
with the scenery. It was gentle and non threatening. There is a flute, or other
woodwind, that joins the piano, and this is when a car is seen driving by. Later
strings join the ensemble and the music all continues to be soft. This reassured me
that the movie would not be dark or overwhelming. The theme music and film s focus

This noise is natural and allows the scene to seem realistic, but the music returns
when the man goes into the house and reflects on the items in the household.
Throughout the film this transition from nature to On Golden Pond s theme occurs
often. This changeover generally indicated a change in scene or a resolution to a
conflict. There were few moments of conflict where the music fills with brass sounds
and takes on a tense feeling. For example, when the main character goes for a walk in
the woods, I appreciate that the music is heard throughout his walk, it sounds like a
harp, other strings, and woodwind instruments. The audience can hear the leaves
crunching and birds; however, when the music becomes faster and takes on lower
pitches, one truly feels the man s stress of becoming lost in the forest. Additionally,
the shift from soft to loud occurs frequently throughout the
Coral Reef Pollution
The ocean full of life and undiscovered wonders is changing from a diverse
biom(define)e to a polluted landscape(change). These changes can be seen through
the coral reefs that reside mostly on shores. Through the window provided by the
diverse biome of coral reefs we can see how the ocean reacts to the changes being
sustained(change). Humans play a major part in the growth of the coral reef(change).
The pollutionwe make from the gases, chemicals, and tools we use end up in the
ocean especially effecting reefs as they are located near shores(rewrite). With the ever
increasing temperatures due to global warming the coralreef biomes are becoming
unstable(rewrite). The increasing acidification of the ocean is a ticking bomb for
coral reefs(change). I will be looking at the effects these issues have on both coral

effects of overfishing on coral reefs cause a limited amount of fish to replenish
Liberty Was Not Absolute For Anyone In The Beginning
Stages
Liberty was not absolute for anyone in the beginning stages of America. An
anonymous author wrote, God gave mankind freedom by nature and made every man
equal to his neighbor. Unfortunately, for the African American slaves, women and the
Native Americans, freedom was hard to obtain until the American Revolution
changed the principals of independence.
African Americans have an extraordinary past that includes the lifestyles before
slavery, during slavery, and the beginning of the abolition and petitions which lead
to their freedom. Many people are unaware of the African American lifestyle before
slavery took place. Much like the Europeans, African Americans lived similar
lifestyles with homes and families, rich and poor classes, enjoyed ... Show more

The new independence talks about having freedom and unfree labor but that s not
the case for African Americans. The abolition and emancipation was a slow
process because veterans of the war were promised 300 acres of land and a slave.
This made the process difficult for whites to accept the fact that if the slaves were
granted freedom, they would possibly have their land taken as well as their slaves.
Another possible cause for the slow start of slave freedom is that all the founding
fathers owned slaves which then made people think that it s okay to own slaves as
well. Slaves began to run away from their masters to British lines and would try to
pass as freeborn. General Henry Clinton offered sanctuary to any slave that escaped
to British lines. Soon, Northern states and the upper parts of the south began
emancipation of slaves. Free communities started to emerge which led to families,
schools, churches and leaders to grow and live. Finally, African Americans had their
freedom back and began to start a community.
Women before the American Revolution were viewed as weak, less important and
not as intelligent as men. The rights and freedom of women were nonexistent;
women couldn t vote, own property, sign contracts and/or wills or divorce their
husbands. The man of the family had total power and authority over their wives and
children. The common role for a woman was to cook, clean, sew, take care of the
family garden and care

Colombia Civil War
Colombia gained its independence in the late 1800s from Spanish forces due to the
efforts of Simon Bolivar (Gascoigne, 2001, ongoing). After going through a series
of name changes, the Republic of Colombia was deemed the official name of the
country and has remains to this day. Colombia s history of violence has plagued the
country since La Violencia in the 1950s, during which time the conservative and
liberal parties fought over dominance of the South American nation (Gascoigne,
2001, ongoing). The war lasted for ten years and was only stopped by the
implementation of the National Front. The National Front, a plan created by the
government of Colombia, was a deal made between the conservatives and the liberals
that would ensure that every four years a member of the opposite party would be
elected to rule the country (Mother Earth Travel, 2013). The deal was meant to last

Essay on Mixing Music and Politics
Many have thought the entertainment world should be separate from the world of
politics. Some celebrities go on to be involved in politics, such as Ronald Reagan and
Sonny Bono, but rarely does an entertainer command a large sphere of influence in
the world of entertainment and politics simultaneously. While entertainers can move
the masses, their voice is usually discarded among politicians. In addition to this,
many have highlighted the negative influence of the entertainment industry, and
particularly rockmusic, on American culture. Often, it is seen as a corrupting force
that leads people astray. For many people, rock and roll seems to highlight all that is
wrong with American popular culture. These critics fail to take note of... Show more

Each year, new books declare rock and roll to be an active force in the moral collapse
of American culture. To many, rock and roll has come to be seen as a social menace
(Pattison 175 77).
Rock Music has traditionally, among political authorities, been viewed as a medium
that has the potential to bring about unrest and revolution among listeners. Even in
its early stages, rock music has been seen as a threat to the stability of society. In a
1968 Time magazine article, Robert Sam Ansons declared rock music to be one
long symphony of protest...the proclamation of a new set of values...the anthem of
revolution (qtd. in Wicke 103). While the comment acknowledges the influential
potential that rock and roll has, it views it negatively. Similarly, politicians have
been out spoken against rock and pop musicians, declaring they have a negative
effect on society. In the mid 1990 s, during presidential election campaigns, Bob
Dole and Bill Clinton both declared that rock and roll plays a part in the corruption
of American youth (Christenson 2). Historically, many politicians have seen rock and
roll as being in opposition to positive political change.

located in Dublin, Ireland, that would change the course of music history and plant

Florida Sinkholes
Natural hazards, such as sinkholes, pose hazards to the environment, humans, and
property throughout the state of Florida. In 2013 a sinkhole claimed the life of
Jeffery Bush in Seffner, Florida. He was lying in bed when the ground collapsed
beneath his bedroom (Brinkmann, 2013, p.1). Sinkholes can drain wetlands, reroute
surface runoff into aquifers, and detrimentally impact natural ecosystems by
significantly altering them. Sinkholes occur naturally in Florida, but anthropogenic
activities can influence their formation. Indeed, this paper will argue that
groundwater pumping and surface loading are the most critical anthropogenic factors
that influence sinkhole development in Florida. According to Tihansky (1999),

Compare And Contrast Erasmus And Luther
Erasmus and Luther on The Reformation
Religion was understood as the upmost critical part of a person s life during the
European Middle Ages. Christians believed the only way to Heaven was through
good works. To gain penance for their sins, Christians would travel on pilgrimages to
complete a journey to a holy site. When popes began to abuse papal authority during
this time, Christians could pay indulgences to be forgiven of their committed sins.
Papal authority had been corrupted by practices which were not Biblical through
proposing that Christians could be saved by payment, and not by accepting God s
grace. Because of these actions, attention was drawn to the foundations of the
doctrine of the Church. The Church was in need of fixing. Two reformers, Desiderius
Erasmus and Martin Luther, spoke out to do this. Both Erasmus and Luther desired to
reform the church because they had similar viewpoints on the abusive power. The
way that the two decided to go about reformation was different. Erasmus was poor,
humanist, and reserved, whereas Luther was not poor, a theologian, and bold.
Although Erasmus and Luther shared a common goal for Christians to live by the
scripture, similarities and differences were present in their approach to church reform
due to their past experiences, education received, and amount of audacity.
To begin, the past experiences of Erasmus and Luther affected their approach to
reformation. Desiderius Erasmus was born in 1466 and died in 1536.
Maus By Art Spiegelman Essay
The graphic novel Maus by Art Spiegelman is a frame narrative of the Holocaust
experience in the World War II. The story is divided into two sections with the first
part of the story Spiegelman interviewing his father Vladek about his family life and
the agony of genocide survival whereas the second part the author reveals his father s
story. This essay focuses on various aspects of the narrative that I find fascinating.
Given that the Holocaust is the worst genocide in human history, the first intriguing
element of the story is Vladek s endurance and courage to tell his story despite the
torment and psychological trauma of a Holocaust survivor. Talking about such
horrific experience of abuse and brutality has the tendency to cause a flashback to the
events and result in emotional breakdown. Furthermore, the author s use of animal

Spiegelman allegorizes the Germans as cats and the Jews as mice what shows
German superiority over their victims. Additionally, the narrative technique of a
backstory clearly shows that the author considers different forms of storytelling and
this complexity forms a brilliant literary work. Due to the fact, there is a transition
period from past and present events, it does not distract the reader from the main
theme of the story. Despite the intricacy of the plot Spiegelman embodies the stories
to be interconnected. Another interesting aspect of this graphic novel is the illustration
form. Spiegelman uses miniature panels combined with images and dialogue

How Did Henry Ford Influence The Automobile Industry
Famed automobile manufacturer Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863, on his
family s farm in Wayne County, near Dearborn, Michigan. When Ford was 13
years old, his father gifted him a pocket watch which the young boy promptly took
apart and reassembled. Ford left home the following year at the age of 16 to take
an apprenticeship as a machinist at a shipbuilding firm in Detroit. He would learn to
skillfully operate and service steam engines. The Model T was built in 1908 Henry
Fordis known for having durable and cheap automobiles Even as production went up,
demand for the Tin Lizzie remained high and by 1918 half of all cars in America
were Model T s. In 1919, Ford named his son Edsel as president of Ford Motor
Companybut he retained full control of the company s operations. After a court
battle with his stockholders led by brothers Horace and John Dodge, Henry Ford
bought out all minority stockholders by 1920. In 1927, Ford moved massive

Henry ford invented the assembly line on Dec 1, 1913.The Tin Lizzie (nickname for
Model T) , was an immediate success, and Ford soon had more orders than the
company could satisfy. As a result, he put into practice techniques of mass
production that would revolutionize American industry, including the use of large
production plants; standardized, interchangeable parts; and the moving assembly
line. Mass production significantly cut down on the time required to produce an
automobile, which allowed costs to stay low. In 1914, Ford also increased the daily
wage for an eight hour day for his workers to $5 (up from $2.34 for nine hours),
setting a standard for the
Human Improduction And The Process Of The Human...
Human Reproduction is a process in which a new human is created. It is essential
because it is needed in order to sustain our population and ensure our species
survival. The male reproductive system contributes sperm, the male sex cell, this
sex cell contains 23 chromosomes. The male reproductive system is also in charge
of releasing the sperm into the female s vagina and make sure that it reaches the
female s egg. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating egg cells, the
female reproductive sex cell containing 23 chromosomes. The female reproductive
system is also in charge of making sure fertilization, implantation and that the
embryo successfully develops and is born. The male reproductive system is in
charge of making healthy sperm(male sex cell) and making sure that it successfully
reaches the egg of the female. As most systems are, the male reproductive system is a
combination of many components. It all starts at the seminiferous tubules within the
testes, where the sperm is created, however, the testes create hormones that regulate
the production of sperm. Surrounding the testes is the scrotum, a sac of skin that
keeps the sperm at about 3 degrees Celsius below body temperature. After the sperm
matures, it is stored in the epididymis until ejaculation occurs, during ejaculation, the
epididymis contracts, releasing the sperm into the vas deferens, a long tube that
connects the urethra and the epididymis. The sperm then passes by 3 glands, the
seminal vesicle which provides sugars, the prostate gland which provides an
alkaline fluid for protection and finally the Cowper s gland which provides a
lubricant for the sperm to travel in. This mixture of substances, called semen is
ejaculated out the urethra and finally the penis and hopefully into the female s
reproductive system. However the penis must be erect for the sperm to successfully
enter the female s vagina, this is where erectile tissue comes in, the tissue is inflated
with blood, keeping the penis erect and ensuring that the sperm enters the vagina. The
female reproductive system is in charge of creating eggs and ensuring the
development of the embryo into a fully grown fetus. Just like the male reproductive
system, the female

In September 11, 2001, the United States recalled this day as a day of tragedy,
sadness, terrorism, and trauma. The 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center
not only took the lives of people, but it also gave the individuals who survived and
experienced the event post traumatic stress disorder after the event. This topic has

Studies found that people who were affected by the terrorist attacks that people
either failed to seek treatment or demonstrated mental health symptoms 2 years after.
Adding to that, other research has indicated various concerns of diseases as a result
of mental health issues among individuals who described their first hand experience
in 9/11. Other research studies demonstrated that after a disaster event has occurred;
those who were affected will show probable posttraumatic stress disorder and
individual risk factors. A renewed interest in the UMHCN of exposed persons has
arisen due to the recent release of public funds for monitoring and treatment of 9/11

The importance of this study was to research the gaps in the knowledge of
UMHCN, and the link between the UMHCN to be associated with the low levels of
social support and lower quality of life as measured by poor mental health. This
information on UMHCN was lacking popularity to public knowledge for a few
reasons; the difficulty of cost, access, and factors. This study suggested that there was
an increase of mental health issues for those who were covered by insurance. Also,
those who demonstrated symptoms of mental health issues and were not seeking
treatment were linked to an increase of failing to complete treatment. The topic was
being studied through outreach campaigns, and using a list that government agencies

Addressing Challenges of Groups and Teams Paper In any group or team there are
always challenges to face but in today s world, more company s are moving to
group or teams as a way to handle large projects along with promoting more
diversity in the workplace. A group is defined as two or more individual interacting
and independent, who have come together to achieve particular objectives (Stephen
Robbins, 2007 p.1). Groups and teams are becoming more popular because the idea

Conflict is defined as a process when one party perceives that other party as
negatively affecting something that the other party cares about. (Stephen Robbins
2007, pg 1) Conflict has challenges but conflict can be beneficial to a team and can
bring out the best in every team member. The benefits can help the team moving in
the right direction; conflict allows people to voice their opinions and allows people
to grow from conflict. Conflict gets everyone involved and it allows the team to
make better choices. Solution to problems comes out of conflict. Conflict can also
lead to new ideas and different ways of accomplishing a project. Conflict has
benefits but there are also downsizes to conflict if left unattended conflict can destroy
a team; it can make people mistrust each other. Conflict can come from not meeting
project deadline and from projects going over budget.
The training development plan is a start to any team project it helps to alleviate and
solves conflict. In any team is to succeed there must be effective communication and
collaborations between team members even if part of the team reside in different
countries. The training lock at different ways to make a team successful and also the
ways the challenges can help or hurt the team. Conflict is a major factor in team
failures but if a team has proper leadership and handles conflict effectively conflict
Lab Report On Gram Negative Bacteria
In this experiment individuals were given a plate with two unknown specimens. Each
group completed a gram stain followed by a series of other test in order to identify
the unknown bacteria. Each student conducted separate testing s on one unknown in
order to specifically identify the strain.
Materials and Methods
First and foremost the gram stain is conducted to differentiate gram positive bacteria
from gram negative bacteria due to their cell structure. The thick layer of
peptidoglycan in gram positive bacteria allows the crystal violet dye to retain a
purple color, whereas, the thin peptidoglycan in gram negative bacteria is
decolorized and counter stained with safranin red in order to be viewed in the
microscope. (1) The gram stain procedure begins with a clean slide and a sterile
loop. A drop of water is applied to the slide followed by a pinhead size of unknown
bacteria. The slide air dries and then is heat fixed with a Bunsen burner.
Subsequently, the crystal violet is applied to the smear, followed by the mordant,
Gram s iodine. Next, the decolorizer is applied then washed. Finally safranin is
applied to the smear and also washed. The slide is blot dried with bibulous paper
and ready for the microscope. However, to ensure a good visual, oil immersion is
applied to increase the resolution. Following the gram stain is the catalase test, which
is utilized to determine if a specimen is streptococcus or staphylococcus. A sample of
bacteria is placed on a slide and combined with a few drops of peroxide. For further
testing, a blood agar plate is inoculated for rapid identification methods for
Streptococcus. Each strain of Strep. is sensitive to only one test on the rapid I.D
method, therefore enabling a process of elimination. The procedure is as follows,
forty percent of the unknown is applied to the top portion of the agar. Subsequently,
three antibiotic discs, Bacitracin A disc, Optochin P disc, and SXT disc are situated
along the unknown bacteria. Afterwards, a horizontal line of Staph. Aureus is drawn
along the bottom of the agar. Next, a vertical line is drawn from the unknown
bacteria to top of the Staph. Aureus, ensuring the vertical line does not touch the
Staph. Proceeding

Theme Of Passage To India
A Passage to India
A Passage to India by E. M. Forster is a Modernist novel which highlights the
complex inner life of its characters using complicated plots and recurring symbols
and images. Foster questions the conformist approaches of representing reality: he
reiterates that whatever people call reality is an indefinable commodity. E. K. Brown,
a renowned American critic, points out that the main idea of A passage to Indiais the
chasm between the world of actions and the world of being (Mitra 5). Hence, the
novel is not simply a piece of anti colonial fiction: it is modern classic too, one that
is as relevant in the present times as it was in the pre colonial times. In this paper,
we analyze the nature of the different realities presented in A Passage to India.
Further, we discuss the ways the treatment of this subject both contributes to the
development of the central themes of the novel and ... Show more content on

He was a homosexual and his interest in the Asian country was sparked by his
romantic involvement with an Indian by the name of Syed Ross Massood to
whom the novel is dedicated (Bagguley). The novel is partly an attempt to come to
terms with the love affair by exploring Anglo Indian friendship. Massood passed on
in 1923, at a time when Forster was writing the novel. Inevitably, Forster s feelings
and thoughts as regards the relationship found their way into the novel s
characterization, imagery, and attitude towards personal relationships. To some
extent, Foster s attitude towards inter racial friendships is as a result of his other
affairs, especially with Mohammed. Throughout the novel, the author explores
ways in which we can break down or even rise above the barriers of race, class, age
and gender. This is one of the main themes in the novel. Forster is essentially a
liberal novelist and he is unwavering in exploring friendships from every perspective
and from a variety of

Persuasive Speech About Tattoos
We have all heard the saying you re going to hate that when you get older. Or why
are you going to pay somebody to permanently scar your body ? It is time to stop
spewing that tired rhetoric because not all people are bros who get tribal tattoos
when they are 18. Tattoos are a form of self expression that has no bounds, and it
has no protocol which makes its potential seemingly endless. Many people use this
form of art to remember a loved one, to express themselves, or just to have as a
badge of honor, and the list goes on and on. I remember the day like it was
yesterday and it s a horrific memory that will haunt me until the day that I no
longer exist on this earth. I was in the military serving in the Air Force in New
Jersey, so needless to say being from Georgia I didn t really get the chance to see
my family very often. So, one day I get a call from my from my father and he told
me he had news to tell me, which was kind of surprising since we spoke two or
three times a week on the phone. His voice dropped into a somber tone and he
echoed the words I will never forget, I have ALS . My heart stopped, I couldn t
believe what I was hearing, and I m no doctor but everybody hears the stories about
Lou Gehrig s disease and they know exactly what it entails, in short, it s a death
sentence with no cure. Over the next year, I spent as much time as I possibly could
taking trips to see my father and each time I laid eyes on him, his once strong,
muscular physique had withered away to a frail shell of himself. I knew what the
outcome was going to be, I think we all did, barring a miracle we knew it was
going to have a happy ending. The last time my father was able to come visit me in
New Jersey we had plans to go see a Braves game in Philadelphia. He was only
coming for a few days so I wanted to make his visit special, especially since his
disease had gotten to the point where he could no longer walk and was confined to
a wheelchair. I wanted him to know that he was always on my mind and that even
though I couldn t be there with him personally, I liked to think that I could have a
part of him with me everywhere I went. So, after talking with my step mom we came
up with the idea of me getting the same tattoomy
Uglies Scott Westerfeld Summary

In the book the Uglies the author Scott Westerfeld. Which is a story that is set in

show they re readers how people at a very young age get easily manipulated into
thinking that something is better for them and that they have to be pretty do do
stuff while if they re ugly then they get less benefits. And also probably that you
don t have to be pretty to be happy just be yourselves. Imagine a world where people
are required to get plastic surgery just to look pretty. The author focused on multiple

The author uses strong Dialogue so that what the characters say in the book will
also help bring the story forward and help understand what is going on in the
situation of the book and why it is happening. An example that shows this is from
the book with Tally and Shay and when they talk about how they first met, Tally
dropper her board to the ground. Thanks for making sure. I didn t mean to be so
wimpy about this. You weren t Yeah, I was. I should tell you something. That
night, when you met me. I kind of promised my friend Peris I wouldn t take any
big risks. You know, in case I really got in trouble, and they got really mad. Who
cares if they get mad? You re almost sixteen. (53) This is also a deeper
understanding of showing strong description because it s showing how what one
character says will affect their actions and also how it affects the other characters
and move the story forward. This quote from the book is also showing how the
relationship between Tally and Shay are developing because the character Shay is
talking about how they first
The Effects Of Eye Diseases
Studying D. melanogaster allows us to gain insight into the essential processes of
organelle biogenesis and intracellular trafficking (Cheli et al 2010). Given the critical
nature of the genes that encode for proteins responsible for organelle biogenesis and
trafficking within the cell, it is unsurprising that various orthologs of these proteins
exist between organisms. Interestingly, the genes encoding proteins responsible for
these functions in humans are orthologous genes in D. melanogaster that encode for
proteins sharing similar functions, as well as the additional function of determining
eye colorin D. melanogaster (Syrzycka et al 2005).

2014), thus through the use of genetic screening techniques combined with an
established metastasis model in Drosophila, scientists were able to identify the way
that mutations in various components of the Class C VPS complex influence the
progression of tumor metastasis (Grant et al 2016).
Specifically, maroon eye color mutation (ma) in drosophila that results from
disruption in the presence of ommochrome and pteridine pigments has been traced to
a mutation of the Vps16A gene (Grant et al 2016). Previous research has identified the
Vps16A component of the Class C VPS as encoding for proteins that act as tumor
suppressants (Pulipparacharuvil et al). Thus, the identification of eye color mutations
as the result of disruptions in the amount of pigment present has been essential in
allowing scientists to identify the proteins responsible for trafficking within the cell,
as well as the consequences that result when the proteins involved in these processes
are disrupted (Cheli et al 2010 and Syrzycka et al 2005).
The results of our ebony and black cross, as well as our three point map data give
us confidence that the mutation we have been working with the br locus in
chromosome two. Previous studies have shown that br is the binding partner of
white which is involved in the ATP binding cassette (ABC) pathway (Grubbs et al.,
2015 and Mount 1987). This pathway has been shown to not only be involved in eye
color of flies, but to have potential implications in the
Symptoms And Treatment Of Psoriasis
Etiology
Psoriasis is a common (2% to 3% of the population), benign and life long chronic
inflammatory skin condition involving the skin, scalp, nails and sometimes joints
(Mahajan Handa, 2013). It is genetically transmitted with a 30% increased risk of
first degree relatives developing psoriasis and a 72% concordance between
monozygotic twins (Habif, 2010; Mahajan Handa, 2013). A genetic and hereditary
(autosomal dominant with 60% penetration) basis for psoriasis is supported by the
presence of certain major histocompatibility complex antigens, HLAs A1, B13,
B17, B37, DR7, in certain psoriasis patients (Mahajan Handa, 2013). Genetically, two
forms of psoriasis [Type I and II] have been proposed: HLA Cw6, the strongest of the
histocompatibility complexes, is found in approximately 85% of Type I (hereditary,
age onset of 16 to 22 years, follows an irregular course before generalizing) and in
approximately 15% of Type II (sporadic, peak incidence of 60 years old) psoriasis
patients (Mahajan Handa, 2013).
Known environmental factors modify the course and severity of the disease:
Psysocial stress, obesity, HIV, physical trauma (Koebner phenomenon), streptococcus
and candida infections, dyslipidemia, medications (lithium, beta blocking agents,
antimalarial agents, corticosteroid withdrawal, NSAIDs and tetracyclines), winter
season, alcohol abuse and tobacco use can all exacerbate or trigger psoriasis in a
genetically predisposed person (Habif et al., 2011; Habif,
How Is Diction Used In Lord Of The Flies
Man has been evolving through time ever since he began to exist, he starts out as
a savage animal in the wild, and since evolves to the civilized person we know
today. What would happen though, if man had to go back to the wild? Would they
go back to their savage ways? This is shown in the book, Lord of the Flies by
William Golding, when a group of young boys find themselves stranded on a
deserted island. The theme of this book is loss of civilization takes men back to
the savage that they have evolved from, and literary devices illustrating the theme
are tone, diction and allusion. One literary device Golding uses in Lord of the
Flies to show the theme is tone. They re going to hunt you tomorrow. (188). In this
quote, Samneric inform Ralph that Jack plans to hunt down and kill him. Golding
has Samneric use a serious tone to show the reader that Ralph is in danger because
Jack completely regresses to a wild animal and plans to kill Ralph. Jack is no longer...

Some of the words that Golding chooses can help the reader better understand the
boy s regression to uncivilized behavior, for example, this quote: He began to
dance and his laughter became a bloodthirsty snarling. (99). In this line Golding
uses descriptive words on Jack s laughter, the words he chooses are similar to how
you would describe a wild animal. This shows the boys regression because when
they first got on the island, it would be more likely that Golding would use words to
describe a human not an animal, so this means the boys have deteriorated overtime.
Another example of Golding using diction to show the boys regression is in this
quote: The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away. (55).
The descriptive words Golding is using in this line illustrate the world. They explain
that the world has a certain structure, and the boys are moving away from that, once
again, showing the boys

can certainly affect us and what is surrounding us negatively. Today, cellphones are
one of the major part of our society. We always see someone texting or making a

Cyberbullying is now made easier with a use of a cellphone because you do not

physical, and mental aspects of one s life such as, depression, eating disorders, self

created less unity with families and friends. Whether you are interviewing

their is s special quality and moment when it comes to face to face interactions.
You can catch the nervousness in their voice, see the expressions as it changes

The Importance Of Living In A Big City In California
Living in a big city has its perks such as great job opportunities and depending on
that city it can have great weather. One city that I really think everyone would want
to live in is around the Southern shore of California because the weather is beautiful
around there and it s always been such a breathing taking place to live at for the
west.. Living around Southern shore Californiais a dream for everyone because it has
a great climate, job opportunities, and it s next to the ocean which is a huge plus..
But living near a body of water can be really dangerous, such as hurricanes, solving
is California is a big risk, living in Arizona is a lot more safe. Living in Arizona
would be nice as well Arizona is not like California it s more dry and hot, but the
job opportunities there and it s a really friendly place to live in because it s about
two hours to get to California and 3 hours for Las Vegas which are both popular
places to visit. Living near the west coast would be such an amazing experience for
everyone because the people there are so nice and they re young hopefuls looking
for the next big thing, some are just trying to live their dream, it takes a lot of guts
just to pack up your stuff and leave. To describe the west in just one word is
dreaming, because lots of people dream to go over there and some go over there,
but they don t make it so they go back to their hometown feeling worthless. Arizona
is a safe bet because you are not expecting the weather to be as
The Economic, Social and Political Status of Women
THE SITUATION OF WOMEN
The economic, social and political status of women have direct bearings on the level
of fertility in any society. Where women s roles are exclusively defined in terms of
household management and matrimonial duties, as is the case in Ethiopia, they are
subject to the expectation that they replenish the race by bearing a large number of
children and assume full responsibility for maintaining them almost single handedly.
Since women are, by and large, economically dependent on men, the decision to have
or not have children rests, primarily in the husband and his relatives. The conscious
but unarticulated realization that not all children born survive, serves as an
inducement to high fertility performance in order to ... Show more content on

Unwanted pregnancy is known to represent a serious problem in this country today
although only limited empirical date are currently available. A study conducted in
five hospitals in Addis Ababa around 1988 provide sufficient indication that many
women resort to abortion year 1985/86, 3244 (55.2%) women out of a total of 6198
cases reporting to the obstetrics/gynecology departments of the said five hospitals
were abortion cases. This went up to 58.6% in the reporting year 1986/87. Clearly,
this can only represent a very small proportion of women, particularly those of
younger ages who seek abortion from unauthorized sources. The conclusion to be
drawn from the discussion of the current situation of women in the Ethiopian society
is that vigorous steps have to be taken by government to remove all the cultural and
social impediments militating against their full enjoyment of fundamental human
rights. Raising the status of women involves, inter alia, increasing female
participation in the educational system at all levels, removing all social and cultural
impediments militating against their competitive involvement in the economy in
general and the market place in particular. More importantly conditions must be
created to increase their access to every amenity that facilitates the development of

Learning New Motor Skills For A Chronic Neurological
Disorder
Coordinated movements are important to complete basic daily tasks, but for some
children developmental milestones are not reached because of a chronic neurological
disorder. Developmental coordination disorder, commonly known as DCD, occurs
when there is a delay in motor skill development, which can cause difficulty in
coordinating movements (Cairney, 2010, p. e67).
Symptoms of this disorder include clumsiness, difficulties with fine and gross motor
skills, as well as sensory integrative dysfunction (Missiuna, p. 2). Physical
characteristics the child may exhibit are delayed movements, difficulty learning new
motor skills, problems with balance, and difficulties with skills that involve constant
feedback to plan new movements such as printing or handwriting (Missiuna, p. 3).
Children with DCD must overcome individual constraints when it comes to any task.
They commonly have low muscle mass and low muscle tone, reduced motor control,
and lack body awareness (Missiuna, p. 3). As for emotional characteristics, children
with DCD often show little interest in activities that demand a physical reaction,
demonstrate frustration, low self confidence, and a lack of motivation (Missiuna, p.
3). Functional constraints they regularly struggle with include difficulty judging
distance of objects, planning and execution of tasks, attention, and anxiety (Barnhart,
2003, p. 725).
This disorder affects 5 6% of school aged children and is diagnosed more in boys
than girls (Cairney, 2010,
Why Is Globalization Important In International Trade
Globalisation could be defined as the growth to a global or worldwide scale.
Globalisation has brought a wave of improvement and development in technology
and knowledge, also bought a change to the world. Many fields of knowledge have
been affected, the new technologies have been built and have been shown to the
public. As in the other fields, finance is impacted. For example, financial markets
have been established in many counties, local companies have become the
international companies, well known banks have been known in many countries and
so on. Financial advances have also changed the way of international trade, making
transaction in international tradeis more convenient and comfortable than in the past.
Buyers and sellers can make a payment although they are not in the same country,
moneyis transferred cross country in a short time. So, in the international trade
context, there are four different ways to transfer money from the buyer to the seller
as advance payment, letters of credit, draft and open account, and in the different
methods have their own risks. So, this essay will evaluate the potential risks which
could occur and will look at what situations is each method commonly used.
Firstly, letter of credit or documentary of credit (L/C) is a famous payment method in
international trade because this method provide a safety to the both of importers and
exporters (Paul and Aserkar 2013: 31). It is one of the payments which base on the
contract documents. In

believes to be more perfect and the things which he believes to be less perfect (pt 2,
para 1). When comparing the two, he eventually comes to the conclusion that
things that are more perfect are constructed by fewer hands and have specific
purpose (pt 2, para 1). He also introduces in the opening portion of his work that his
opinion of good sense is the ability to judge rightly and to follow through with the
judgments (pt. 1, para 1). He concludes his writing by explaining that he believes
that thinking is a non mechanistic action, and he makes several points to confirm
this (pt. 5, para 10). Descartes makes claims that sometimes compare thinking to the
workings of a machine. However, he is correct in saying that thinking is a non
mechanistic action. Because human beings thought processes are not mechanical,
we must take care to use good sense in order to make right judgment. Descartes
opens his Discourse by explaining that he believes that good sense, when fully
developed, is the power to judge rightly (pt 1, para 1). He says that each individual
has the same capacity for judgment, but differences arise based on the extent to
which an individual is able to use their reason. In presenting these opinions, Descartes
makes the point that it is not enough to have a good mind the individual who
possesses the good mind
Analysis Of The Poem The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock
Analysis of the setting of the poems The Love song of J. Alfred Prufrock and
Something Whispered in the Shakuhachi
The Love song of J. Alfred Prufrock and Something Whispered in the Shakuhachi are
poems written by T.S. Eliot and Garrett Hongo correspondently. Both poems put a
great emphasis on the depiction of the narrator s emotion. The poems are focused on
feelings and emotions of their narrators. At the same time, it should noted that a lot of
attractive in both poems is given to the setting. In fact, the setting plays an important
role to both poems. It is clear that it helps to get a better understanding of their main
themes, as well as the tone and atmosphere of the poems.
T.S. Eliot s poem The Love song of J. Alfred Prufrockis dedicated to the theme of
loneliness and alienation. The narrator of the poem is a middle aged man who has
low self esteem and is full of pessimism person. He invites us to a small journey
though the poem during which he describes his emotion, the people he sees and his
surroundings. From his descriptions, we can know that he is not satisfied with his
life because he thinks life made him dull and bored. In addition, it seems that nothing
in the world brings pleasure to the narrator. Nothing brings him positive emotions.
It is worth to consider that the setting plays an important role in the poem and
contributes to its main theme. As we can see, the action of the poem takes place in
the evening, and in the dirty place of the city that
Masks In MAUS II By Art Spiegelman
Masks are used in society to conceal one s appearance and also as a means for
impersonation. When we encounter someone wearing a mask, we assume they are
pretending to be whatever that mask depicts. We are aware that there is a person
underneath, but we assume that they bear no resemblance to the maskthey wear. If
they were, then why would they were a mask in the first place? In graphic novel
MAUS II, Art Spiegelman tells the story of his father s experiences within the Nazi
concentration camp Auschwitz (1992). There are many visual themes or motifs
present throughout this graphic novel, but one important motif represented are
masks. Spiegelman is shown in this graphic novel contemplating if he is worthy or
has the right to illustrate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these scenes, we again see the mask motif being depicted by Spiegelman. In an
earlier scene, Art is shown morphing his character from an adult to a childlike
version of himself (42). In society children are symbols of nativity and immaturity.
Conversely, adults are symbols of wisdom and growth. By showing this
transformation, Spiegelman is showing that he feels less of an adult when
compared to his father and less of a Jewish person than those survivors of
Auschwitz. Spiegelman has now illustrated art as a child with a mask mouse on.
This drawing of Art conveys to the reader that he sees himself not only as
inadequate, but also not authentically Jewish as well. As Art speaks to Pavel, he
continues to take this form. He also confirms to Pavel his feelings of inadequacy by
explaining once again No matter what I accomplish, it doesn t seem like much
compared to surviving Auschwitz (44). He is still consumed with these feelings of
not being Jewish enough. As he converses with Pavel, Art confirms to Pavel that he
admires his dad for surviving Auschwitz (45). When Pavel mentions to Art that those
who died in the Holocaust cannot tell their story, Art replies by quoting every word
is a stain on silence and nothingness (45). This interaction implies that Art concurs
that speaking on such an event like the Holocaust by those who did not experience it,

Super Senses Lab Report

Super Senses
Purpose:
The purpose of this lab is to tune your senses of sight and sound.
Introduction:
Sound is created when energy travels as waves of pressure through matter such as air,
water, or even solid materials. Virtually everything that vibrates can yield sound.
When something oscillates it pushes the particles around it, and those particles in
turn push the air particles around them, moving the pulse of the vibration in all
directions from the source. Sight is created when light bounces off an object, and
refracted from the cornea and the lens and an image is focused on the retina.
Refraction is the bending of a wave when it enters a medium where its speed is
different. The refraction of light when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most noticeable was the humming of the interstate near my house. I also noticed
the faint sound of live music coming from bars close by. The music would fade in
and out throughout the experiment. The loudest sound I encountered was the
exhaust of a Hemi V8 Dodge Charger that had started a few houses down, which
was a low grumble that I recognized from previous encounters. Most of the sounds I
heard were man made except for a few small gusts of wind that blew by.
While observing an unlit candle I recorded a smooth red texture, and that it was a
cylinder in shape. The candle had a blackened wick and an indention from previous
use. After lighting the candle I notice a cinnamon smell emitting from it. At first,
when light the candle the flame itself was smaller and then became a little larger
and steadier with fewer flickers. After the flame steadied a light smoke emerged out
of the top of the flame, and then would fade out, then come back a little stronger,
then fade out again. The wax melted into a transparent red that pooled up at the base
of the wick. The flame produce more heat vertically than horizontally. The
extinguished candle produced a lot of

The Folly And Dual Identities Of The Victorian Society

The Folly and Dual Identities of the Victorian Society
Stephen Colbert states, Status is always ripe for satire; status is always good for
comedy. The timeless message of the social elites obsession with their self imposed
high statuses is the target of Oscar Wilde s satirical play, The Importance of Being
Earnest. Wilde defaces the reputations elites upheld in the Victorian eraand outlines
the deviant display of Victorian manners as hypocritical. The quick witted dialogue of
his characters incites comedy which masks the underlying criticism of the Victorian
way of life. Oscar Wilde s masterful use of satire, the neologism Bunbury, and
mockery of the Victorian society establish the theme of duality embedded throughout
the play, The Importance of Being Earnest.
Satire is applied to highlight the folly embedded in Victorian logic, demonstrated by
their manner of addressing important matters with triviality. Lady Bracknell, a
Victorian social elite condemns Algernon s neologism Bunbury s history of terminal
illnesses, an unexpected approach to the situation considering the uncontrollable
nature of illnesses. Lady Bracknell advised, ...it is high time that Mr. Bunbury made
up his mind whether he was going to live or die. This shilly shallying with the
question is absurd (Wilde 9). The folly of the Victorian elite is apparent in the manner
with which Lady Bracknell demeans the seriousness of
Train s Journey And Transportation
train s journey and that why a lot of regional trains and international passenger trains
have food service cars and sleeping cars along with the passenger cars.
Since the 40s of the 20th century, the number of railway passengers in many of the
industrial cities has declined, and that s because of the increased demand and the
use of cars and planes. However Railway systems are the most common means of
travel by passengers in general in Japan and Switzerland.
Shipping and cargo trains:
Most of the income of the Railway systems in many countries from transporting and
shipping goods as shipping goods through railways for long distances is cheaper than
any other shipping method of land transportation. It can be stated that shipping trains
in the past Soviet Union transported the largest amount of goods in the world, and
then comes in the second place the United States then China. Company trains also
transport a lot of goods, as each train holds and transports the products and goods of
its own company.
4.1. Benefits of train systems
Dependable The best preferred standpoint of the railroad transport is that it is the
most tried and true method of transport as it is the slightest influenced by climate
conditions, for example, downpours, haze and so on contrasted with different
methods of transport.
Better Organized The rail transport is more organized than whatever other type of
transport. It has settled courses and timetables. Its administration is increasingly sure,

Delegation in the Workplace
Delegation 1 DELEGATION IN THE WORKPLACE Delegation in the Workplace
University of Phoenix Delegation 2 Every company has assignments that are
delegated on every level within a business. Delegating is defined as giving authority
and responsibility to a subordinate or an employee on a lower level. At The Plumbing
Warehouse, delegating is a very important part of getting the price changes done on
time. However, when leading and controlling are involved, the delegation process
could use a few minor improvements. Every company must have effective delegation

At The Plumbing Warehouse, the manager of the pricing department could
definitely get more done by letting go after delegating selected jobs to the
employees. Being a delegator takes the skills to derail all of these issues. Being a
person of delegation is not for everyone. Having confidence in the decision making
process is extremely important. The skilled delegator has a clear vision of the
results desired and is able to describe this to the employee. The delegator is able to
multiply his effectiveness to benefit the business. He/she can then accurately assess
the capabilities of each employee and assign those tasks that an individual can
complete successful. At the same time sufficient authority is transferred to the
employee to get the job done (Sharp, 2002, para. 1). First, the delegator has to
know what has to be accomplished before getting started. Once knowing the goals
of the department, the delegating manager should pass the information on to the
subordinates. Being a well rounded and well respected individual, the employees,
usually, have no problems or issues with the orders given. The delegator is an asset
to the business and that is why he/she is a benefit to the company. The manager who
delegates also has to pay attention to the capabilities of each one of the employees in
order to know who can do what. Every employee has strengths and weaknesses and

Memory Recollection
Neuroscience has been a foundational topic and one that is interesting to explore.
We as human beings are so complicated that we can t really tell why we are even
conscious! In fact, there is a multitude of research on how the brain is neurologically
connected to mind and behavior. As someone who preserves about seven hours of
sleep, I feel that sleep is vital for living organisms to function in their daily activities.
However, I stumbled upon an article that discusses the importance of taking a rest.
While people have the impression that sleep will attribute to a healthier mind and
body, many wouldn t recognize the importance of rest in conjunction of storing
information. In fact, resting for a few minutes can improve memoryrecollection rather
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article doesn t go into depth the details of the research, but I believe in a
connection between relaxation and performance. In our world, people who are
stressed with anxiety normally don t perform as well as people who don t feel
tension. Moreover, the article talks about overstimulation of the brain and how that
could cause memory problems. Regardless, I am not too worried about the
abstraction of neurons, but I am more refined in seeing that there are experimental
studies that proved the very relationship of rest and memory. For example, Michaela
Deware, a principle investigator at the Heriot Watt University, led an experiment in
2012. Her team investigated the results between those who had a ten minute rest and
those who didn t. The team found out that in comparison to those who haven t,
people who took the ten minute rest remembered ten percent more on a story they
heard last week. These volunteers who took the initiative to sleep were placed in an
empty, quiet room that was free from distractions. After a refinery on the matter of
sleep, what surprised me most about the article is that resting could actually help
insomniacs or people diagnosed with amnesia; they ll be able to relax and retain
memory a lot more
Fluoride And Its Effect On Our Lives
Drink 8 glasses of water a day! Everywhere you go, you see and hear this but would
you if you knew what was in it? If you knew would you still drink it? Lots of
chemicals are added to get water fresh and pure. You re told they all have health
benefits. But is this true? One chemical isn t as healthy as all the rest. It s quite
harmful. This is fluoride. Fluoride shouldn t be in our waters because fluoride in high
levels can cause dental fluorosis, cavities, and decay. With fluoride in our water,
toothpastes, food and drinks, pesticides and even tea, it is easy to get more then
you bodies need. During the developing stage when you re an infant, and as you
become a child, fluoride can have some series effects that continue on as you grow
older. Thus drinking the water wouldn t be a good idea but you still have to. Along
with damaging your teethfluoride can also affect your cancer rate, your brain, and
heart disease.
For Those Wondering.
Added to toothpastes and mouth washes to help defend your teeth from cavities is
fluoride. Fluoride helps in teeth support and repairs broken surfaces. It works by
forming a strong compound with other chemicals on your teeth so that they ll be
less prone to acid attack. The acid comes from the bacteria that live on sugars we
eat. Brushing and flossing your teeth will get rid of the bacteria and rinse them away
but it doesn t help in the long term. Fluoride works to form a compound that is long
lasting to keep your teeth healthy and strong.

Excessive Use Of Technology In Fahrenheit 451

(SIP A) The Internet and screen time, the virtual gateway to everything in the
world, can affect your mind s ability to store memory. (STEWE 1) Researcher
Daniel Wegner found that when people have access to search engines, they
remember fewer facts and less information because they know they can rely on
search as a readily available shortcut (Wegner). This is exactly what happens in the
book, people rely too much on technology and they end up having difficulty
holding onto information. (STEWE 2) Students who have trouble remembering
distinct facts, for example, may struggle to employ those facts in critical thinking

damage can overtime be healed but if the brain is damaged to a certain extent, then
the damage will be irreversible. This is caused when someone stares at a screen for

The Ineffectiveness of Education Reform Essay
On January 8, 2002 President Bush signed into law the Leave No Child Behind Act,
which significantly changes how public schools receive federal funding. This
bipartisan supported attempt at reform, the first of this magnitude since the
Elementary Secondary Education Act of 1965, shows a dedicated concern to
improving education. However, it is not plausible a punishment/rewards system will
positively improve schoolson a large scale as a nationwide policy should.
President Bush s apparent prioritizing of schools is the positive stance for the
federal government to take on this issue, especially at a time when domestic
concerns could be overshadowed by global tensions and war activities. At first
glance, one may be reassured by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This education policy was conceived at a time of prosperity, so whether the
government continues to increase spending remains to be seen.
The new legislation focuses on a pertinent aspect of education, raising standards for
students, but determining funding by test scores does not guarantee widespread
results. This new policy relies on the threat tactic of schools improving for fear of
federal funding being reduced; if a school does not meet the new standards, how will
reducing funding improve it? The government will continue funding school districts
which are already capable of invoking sufficient test scores, while cutting back
funding to the districts which can not, offering the alternative of government funded
transportation to another school. This is the legislation s flaw: it should be teachers
taking proficiency tests periodically to display their qualifications in order to remain
teaching. Most teachers are dedicated to their own education, and so would not likely
oppose such a policy. Instead we have the federal government holding funding with
the justification of accountability over school districts, demanding improved test
scores.
This criticism is rooted in both skepticism towards the policy s effectiveness, and
confidence in an alternative potential solution: the government could radically change
the profession of teaching/education by establishing a national base salary which
would consequently mean an overall raise in
The Loss of the Creature vs the Souls of Black Folk Essay...
Walker Percy s essay, The Loss of the Creature describes the experiences that each
person goes through as either a genuine experience driven by own desires, or one that
is already preconceived by experts. Percy believes that people can only learn from
experiences that are driven by pure personal desire, and not experiences already
preconceived by experts. Percy describes the loss of sovereignty as preconceived
notions of an experiencewith the help of experts. W.E.B Du Bois, on the other hand,
wrote an essay called, The Souls of Black Folk that contradicts Percy s term of the
loss of sovereignty . Du Bois strongly believes that with the help of experts, people
can then learn what they need to get ahead in life.... Show more content on

Du Bois said that nothing will change in the educational system, thus, the students
never get a chance to explore other than what experts expect and give them to learn.
Percy would describe Du Bois students as simple students who are letting expert
opinions control what they do, and how they perceive information. The expert s
guidance help to form [the thoughts] in the sightseer s mind (Percy, 566), thus, it
takes away from the genuine experience. Percy would describe Du Bois students as
simple students who are letting expert opinions control what they do, and how they
perceive information.
Percy would disagree with Du Bois that old time glorified methods of delving the
Truth, and searching the hidden beauties of life, and learning the good of living is
through being a simple student. One cannot be forced into liking something if they
are truly not interested in it, but Du Bois argued that education is something that is
necessary without taking into consideration the students desire to learn. Percy
though, argued with an example that, A student who has the desire to get at a dogfish
or a Shakespeare sonnet may have the greatest difficulty in salvaging the creature
itself from the educational package in which it is presented (573). Percy suggests that

The Dark Knight Film Analysis
Burning. Massive flames. A dark shape emerges. Growing. Filling the space with
blackness. Blinding light, moving over the towers of a city. The light closes in on
the buildings, consuming them, consuming you. Can t escape, can t breathe,
completely overwhelmed. When suddenly you hear CUT! , and find yourself on a

you experienced, surrendering yourself, your senses is called suspension of
disbelief. The willingness to suspend one s critical facilities and believe the
unbelievable. This disbelief is not in used in film but in art as well. The scene
described above is from a piece called London s Burning by Chris Sheldrake, but
you would also see some of the same aesthetics in the opening title sequence of The
Dark Knight. All art forms feed of each other and by using three movies and their
corresponding pieces of art, I will illustrate the influence that each of these individual
images had on their respective films. How art inspires cinema.
The Dark Knight was the second entry in The Dark Knight Trilogy directed by
Christopher Nolan. He is an English film director, screenwriter, and producer. One of
the highest grossing directors in history, and among the most acclaimed filmmakers
in the 21st century. In a world where comic book movies reign supreme, Nolan s
work with Batman stands outs above the rest. He made a world where somebody was

Film Evaluation Essay.pdf

  • 1. Film Evaluation Essay Writing a Film Evaluation Essay can be a challenging task that requires a combination of analytical skills, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of cinematic elements. The difficulty lies not only in expressing personal opinions but also in objectively evaluating the various components of a film, such as cinematography, acting, storyline, and overall impact. Crafting a well-structured essay involves not only summarizing the plot and providing an opinion but also delving into the nuances that contribute to the film's success or failure. One must navigate the fine line between subjective reactions and objective analysis, avoiding overly biased perspectives while still conveying a sense of personal engagement with the film. Additionally, researching the context of the film, understanding the director's vision, and exploring any underlying themes add layers of complexity to the writing process. Addressing these aspects requires a thoughtful and organized approach to ensure that the evaluation goes beyond surface-level observations. Moreover, constructing a coherent and flowing narrative in the essay requires a skillful use of language and the ability to transition seamlessly between different aspects of the film. Balancing description, analysis, and interpretation within the limited scope of an essay can be daunting. Despite the difficulty, the challenge of writing a Film Evaluation Essay can be rewarding as it allows the writer to engage deeply with the cinematic work and communicate their insights effectively. It is an opportunity to showcase one's ability to critically assess art while conveying a well-articulated perspective. In conclusion, tackling a Film Evaluation Essay demands a blend of critical thinking, writing proficiency, and a genuine passion for cinema. It is a task that requires time, effort, and a willingness to delve into the intricacies of filmmaking. For those who find themselves struggling with such assignments, it's worth noting that similar essays and more comprehensive assistance can be obtained from professional writing services like HelpWriting.net. • 2. Glutathione s Transferase Lab Report Glutathione S Transferase (GST) is a detoxification enzyme which transfer glutathione to toxic substance and can be used as a tag when fused to a protein of interest. The purpose of this experiment was for us to determine which culture (A and B) was treated with Isopropyl B D thiogalactoside (IPTG) and therefore would express GST. The bacteriaE. coli BL21 carrying the pGEX 2T plasmid was used to express GST proteinafter which protein extraction and GST purification from other proteins where done. GST expression is controlled by the Lac operon promoter (Plac). The Lac promoter sequence drives GST gene expression (transcription) and the lac repressor gene encodes a protein that represses the lac promoter. When the lac repressor gene is always ... SDS denature proteins and coats them with a negative charge allowing for their electrophoretic separation by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). As you can see, after being stained with the coomassie blue, we could detect proteins of various sizes and our unknown protein expressing GST was detected in our Pure B sample (Figure 2). The distance travelled from the wells on the SDS PAGES by our protein standards were measured and compared to our protein ladder in Daltons (Table 2), from which we could construct our semi log plot. On the semi log plot, our unknown protein within our Pure B travelled 27mm from the well with a size of 29,000 Dalton (Figure 3). To identify the specific protein in the gel, the western blotting method was used to detect which of the cultures (A or B) contains GST (Figure 4). After the cassette was taken out of the electrophoresis unit, colors of our protein standards appeared on top of our membrane surface. After blocking, primary antibody incubation, and secondary antibody incubation, we could clearly identify our GST in our Pure B and Crude B (Figure
  • 3. Hannah Webster Foster s The Coquette ( 1797 ) And William... Hannah Webster Foster s The Coquette (1797) and William Hill Brown s The Power of Sympathy (1789) are epistolary novels that outline the inevitable perils and consequences (for women) of carelessly becoming a victim of male seduction. These provocative novels allow readers to enter a sexual private sphere of society, one that may have been deemed taboo, through letters depicting the art of seduction. Women were expected to subscribe to the societal expectations of appropriate female behavior. In addition, literacy was at transformative state at the staging of both novels; morals lessons (within the household) could now be found in non biblical mediums of literature. The divergence from reading for devotion to reading for entertainment and intellect was pivotal. The perceived dangers of this, however, were that novels which expose no particular Vice, and which recommend no particular Virtue, to the fair Reader, though she may find amusement, must finish them without being impressed with any particular idea (Brown, 7). Brown implies that, by misinterpreting seduction novels, women would not be able to perform their political and social role as republican mothers that these novels would penetrate their moral compass and leave them vulnerable to the powers of seduction. The seduction that befall women in Brown s The Power of Sympathy and Foster s The Coquette reinforce the expected role of women in the New Republic, highlight the horrifying consequences that accompany

  • 5. Justice In Julius Caesar Justice is often found after a situation has occurred and more times than not it is seen through the eyes of revenge. Marc Antony, the main character, partakes in this reality by trying to get revenge on Julius Caesar s, Marc Antony s best friend, death. The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare literally and symbolically delves into the choices that one makes when seeking revenge in the name of justice. Marc Antony is highlighting themes of revenge as justice when he vows to murder all the conspirators. As Octavius, is Caesar s adopted son and is an ally to Antony, and Antony are talking to Brutus and Cassius, is the leader of the conspirators, Octavius says, Look, I draw a sword against conspirators. When think you that the sword goes up again? Never, till Caesar s three and thirty wounds Be well avenged, or till another Caesar Have added slaughter to the sword of traitors (183). Octavius wants what s best for Caesar too, so he is threatening Brutus and Cassius to make sure that they know they are in the wrong for killing Caesar. Octavius is using Caesar s sword to threaten Octavius and Cassius because it makes it more meaningful if he were to actually kill both of them Caesar s sword. When Cassius sees that Titinius, a friend of Cassius, has been surrounded, by what was thought to be the enemy, Cassius thought Titinius was going to die, so he decided to stab himself with Caesar s sword: Caesar, thou art revenged, Even with the sword that killed thee (193). Cassius first reaction was to use Caesar s sword to kill himself because he wanted to find the most honorable way to die. Therefore, Caesar was able to avenge his own death, even though Antony and Octavius are trying to get revenge for Caesar. After Titinius found out that Cassius killed himself, Titinius grabbed
  • 6. A Picture Of The Water Cycle In fourth grade I was asked to draw a picture of the water cycle. The assignment was simple but the concept of coloring the water at that time was difficult. As eight years old I observed that water was colorless every time I used it to wash my hand or drink it. However, it appeared to have a blue gray tint to it when I viewed it in larger body of water such as the ocean. When I would touch the ocean water or tried to store it for its beautiful color, I would once again be left with its colorless property. The concept of water color was a paradox for me. No one seemed to know why blue water from ocean would suddenly appear colorless when seen up close. During that time I did not have access to a computer and did not know how to operate one. Every day after school I would spend hours after hours researching my question. After a long period of researching I finally found that wavelengths of light pass through each matter differently depending on the material s composition. Water molecules in the ocean appear blue because it absorbs longer wavelength such as red and orange more strongly than shorter wavelengths such as blue, the color we believe to observe. However, if there are impurities in water, the absorbed light pattern differs, changing the way we observe the color of the water. My passion for learning science initially sparked at the tender age of eight and it continues to burn brighter every single day. Throughout my academic career I continuously challenged
  • 7. Yes The Future Looks Bright But The Moment Is Hell Analysis These first person point of view argumentative essay, Yes, the Future Looks Bright, but the Moment Is Hell , by Shawn Mullin and Perspective on Men , by Daphne Beckham are both understandable essay. Mullin talks about his stressful life in college while he makes his point about working more than twenty hours a week has a negative effect on college students. He used his experience and opinion to make his argument more relevant and understandable from other s point of view. Beckham simply states her perspective about men. Although she used poems and her own experience to make it clear and understandable to the readers, essayby Mullin seems better to me. The reason I like his essay better then the other one is because I can relate to Mullin s story, and I also agree with the points he made. I have been through some of the situations that he described ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He did an exceptional job while he begins his essay explaining about the issues that he was facing to let the readers understand his perspective. He then gathered information and provide the facts and situations about the obstacles he was facing on his college life. He also used the information that he experienced to support his statements. As he made his point, he distinctly provided the reader with the solution to the problems he was facing and he also explained how each of these solution would work out. This made it extremely easy for his readers to follow. The author made his point perfectly well, however he did not state the thesis on the first paragraph. The point he was trying to make by talking about the problems that he was facing was working more then twenty hours a week has a negative effect on college student . I think that should be mentioned on the first

The pipe organ is one of the largest and most technically sophisticated instruments. Building one is an incredible feat of engineering and craftsmanship. Early man discovered he could make music by blowing across hollow reeds of different lengths. In ancient Egypt, an engineer s device would later would become the basic technology of the pipe organ. He was born in Eisenach, Germany on March 21st, 1685 to a long rooted family of musicians. Some historians argued that during his time, the term Bach is almost synonymous with being a musician. His father Johann Ambrosius taught him how to play musical instruments from an early age, and at the age of 7, Bach went to a Lutheran school where he studied Latin and other subjects, which would later impact Bach s career. Bach was profoundly religious and he saw everything that he did as a composer and musician as basically an act of prayer. Bach s parents died when he was quite young, and he was adopted by his brother Christoph who was an organ
  • 9. Persuasive Essay On Mental Health It was October 1, 2017, at the Country Music Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada that Stephen Paddock fired upon a concert, resulting in hundreds killed and wounded altogether (Fox). Going back further to 2011, Jared Lee Loughner killed six and injured twelve, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford (Moon 209). As more and more mass shootings emerge, it s unfortunate to think such tragedies could be avoided by involuntarily committing the perpetrator. As of 2017, involuntary commitment, also known as civil commitment, is a law where the court can order the mentally ill to get treatment against their consent so long as they pose a danger to self or other (Evans and Salekin 325). By implementing a less restrictive version of the current law where danger is not the only criteria, the U.S. can provide equal access to mental health treatments, help get the homeless off the streets, and prevent violent situations. Occasionally while walking down the streets, a homeless man is seated against a wall talking gibberish or a lady is pushing a cart around aimlessly for hours. That same homeless man commonly overlooked by the law and passerby has the potential to be just like the average middle class person, working a steady job, having a family, and owning a home of his own but is unfortunately held back by his mental illness. These people are unable to receive treatment due to having no family, money, and because they don t impose any danger. On the other hand, less restrictive involuntary commitment laws would allow for this person to enter a treatment facility at no cost, help them get better, and start their life anew. For example, less restrictive involuntary commitment laws would provide housing and proper treatment to those who cannot afford or aren t able to get the help they need on their own. By eliminating the worry of finding housing, a patient can focus more on getting better mentally and getting off the streets for good. Supporters of the housing first method agree that once homeless people have a safe, stable place to live, it is easier to get well and look for work ( Homelessness ). Involuntary commitment of the patient would allow a bed in a mental health facility, routine care, and a healthy environment
  • 10. David Grusin s On Golden Pond David Grusin is the composer for On Golden Pond. He was the composer for The Graduate and The Goonies which are films that I recognized but have not yet seen. I selected On Golden Pond because I had not heard of the movie beforehand. The 1980s was full of electronic music; however, this film featured no electronic pop. The filmis only instrumental, and due to the fact, the film focuses on an older couple dealing with growing older and their time with a young man named Billy, I believe the score is appropriate. When looking at the theme from The Goonies, the use of piano and strings are apparent in both films. From the beginning of the film, the score was a peaceful piano piece that went along with the scenery. It was gentle and non threatening. There is a flute, or other woodwind, that joins the piano, and this is when a car is seen driving by. Later strings join the ensemble and the music all continues to be soft. This reassured me that the movie would not be dark or overwhelming. The theme music and film s focus on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This noise is natural and allows the scene to seem realistic, but the music returns when the man goes into the house and reflects on the items in the household. Throughout the film this transition from nature to On Golden Pond s theme occurs often. This changeover generally indicated a change in scene or a resolution to a conflict. There were few moments of conflict where the music fills with brass sounds and takes on a tense feeling. For example, when the main character goes for a walk in the woods, I appreciate that the music is heard throughout his walk, it sounds like a harp, other strings, and woodwind instruments. The audience can hear the leaves crunching and birds; however, when the music becomes faster and takes on lower pitches, one truly feels the man s stress of becoming lost in the forest. Additionally, the shift from soft to loud occurs frequently throughout the

These changes can be seen through the coral reefs that reside mostly on shores. Through the window provided by the diverse biome of coral reefs we can see how the ocean reacts to the changes being sustained(change). Humans play a major part in the growth of the coral reef(change). The pollutionwe make from the gases, chemicals, and tools we use end up in the ocean especially effecting reefs as they are located near shores(rewrite). With the ever increasing temperatures due to global warming the coralreef biomes are becoming unstable(rewrite). The increasing acidification of the ocean is a ticking bomb for coral reefs(change). • 12. Liberty Was Not Absolute For Anyone In The Beginning Stages Liberty was not absolute for anyone in the beginning stages of America. An anonymous author wrote, God gave mankind freedom by nature and made every man equal to his neighbor. Unfortunately, for the African American slaves, women and the Native Americans, freedom was hard to obtain until the American Revolution changed the principals of independence. African Americans have an extraordinary past that includes the lifestyles before slavery, during slavery, and the beginning of the abolition and petitions which lead to their freedom. Many people are unaware of the African American lifestyle before slavery took place. Much like the Europeans, African Americans lived similar lifestyles with homes and families, rich and poor classes, enjoyed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The new independence talks about having freedom and unfree labor but that s not the case for African Americans. The abolition and emancipation was a slow process because veterans of the war were promised 300 acres of land and a slave. This made the process difficult for whites to accept the fact that if the slaves were granted freedom, they would possibly have their land taken as well as their slaves. Another possible cause for the slow start of slave freedom is that all the founding fathers owned slaves which then made people think that it s okay to own slaves as well. Slaves began to run away from their masters to British lines and would try to pass as freeborn. General Henry Clinton offered sanctuary to any slave that escaped to British lines. Soon, Northern states and the upper parts of the south began emancipation of slaves. Free communities started to emerge which led to families, schools, churches and leaders to grow and live. Finally, African Americans had their freedom back and began to start a community. Women before the American Revolution were viewed as weak, less important and not as intelligent as men. The rights and freedom of women were nonexistent; women couldn t vote, own property, sign contracts and/or wills or divorce their husbands. The man of the family had total power and authority over their wives and children. The common role for a woman was to cook, clean, sew, take care of the family garden and care

Last Week Tonight By John Oliver With an English accent and a smize, John Oliver hosts the show Last Week Tonight , which features Oliver comedically attacking various people or organizations. With the use of rhetorical devices and satire, John Oliver comically conveys various ideas regarding politics, faulty companies, and beauty pageants. In explanation of his ideas, he frequently utilizes satirical techniques and rhetorical devices such as reductio ad absurdum, incongruity, caricature, invectiveness, false/weak analogies, and logos to explain his points. To expand on the idea of the kidneys being the sole organ which obtains government funded healthcare, he declares with a picture of kidneys sitting in the snow of Canada, Your kidneys, and only your kidneys are Canadian! This statement is another example of incongruity; again, Oliver presents a statement which is contrasts greatly from the current situation of which he is in. While he is discussing the role government plays in dialysis, he delivers the idea of kidneys sitting in the snow of Canada, which assists him in his argument of the government only providing healthcare coverage of the kidneys. Just as the Times stated in their review of Oliver, [He] is willing to voice genuine passion over his subjects , he voices his passionate displeasure towards Trump in his President elect Trump segment. Oliver targets Trump on a specific debate in which he was mistakenly unaware of the nuclear triad, and he critically reveals, The components of the nuclear triad are important. After going through a series of name changes, the Republic of Colombia was deemed the official name of the country and has remains to this day. Colombia s history of violence has plagued the country since La Violencia in the 1950s, during which time the conservative and liberal parties fought over dominance of the South American nation (Gascoigne, 2001, ongoing). Some celebrities go on to be involved in politics, such as Ronald Reagan and Sonny Bono, but rarely does an entertainer command a large sphere of influence in the world of entertainment and politics simultaneously. While entertainers can move the masses, their voice is usually discarded among politicians. In addition to this, many have highlighted the negative influence of the entertainment industry, and particularly rockmusic, on American culture. To many, rock and roll has come to be seen as a social menace (Pattison 175 77). Rock Music has traditionally, among political authorities, been viewed as a medium that has the potential to bring about unrest and revolution among listeners. Even in its early stages, rock music has been seen as a threat to the stability of society. In a 1968 Time magazine article, Robert Sam Ansons declared rock music to be one long symphony of protest...the proclamation of a new set of values...the anthem of revolution (qtd. in Wicke 103). While the comment acknowledges the influential potential that rock and roll has, it views it negatively. Similarly, politicians have been out spoken against rock and pop musicians, declaring they have a negative effect on society. In the mid 1990 s, during presidential election campaigns, Bob Dole and Bill Clinton both declared that rock and roll plays a part in the corruption of American youth (Christenson 2). Historically, many politicians have seen rock and roll as being in opposition to positive political change. In the late 1970s, Larry Mullen Jr. posted a message in Mount Temple High School, located in Dublin, Ireland, that would change the course of music history and plant the seed of a

  • 19. Compare And Contrast Erasmus And Luther Erasmus and Luther on The Reformation Religion was understood as the upmost critical part of a person s life during the European Middle Ages. Christians believed the only way to Heaven was through good works. To gain penance for their sins, Christians would travel on pilgrimages to complete a journey to a holy site. When popes began to abuse papal authority during this time, Christians could pay indulgences to be forgiven of their committed sins. Papal authority had been corrupted by practices which were not Biblical through proposing that Christians could be saved by payment, and not by accepting God s grace. Because of these actions, attention was drawn to the foundations of the doctrine of the Church. The Church was in need of fixing. Two reformers, Desiderius Erasmus and Martin Luther, spoke out to do this. Both Erasmus and Luther desired to reform the church because they had similar viewpoints on the abusive power. The way that the two decided to go about reformation was different. Erasmus was poor, humanist, and reserved, whereas Luther was not poor, a theologian, and bold. Although Erasmus and Luther shared a common goal for Christians to live by the scripture, similarities and differences were present in their approach to church reform due to their past experiences, education received, and amount of audacity. To begin, the past experiences of Erasmus and Luther affected their approach to reformation. Desiderius Erasmus was born in 1466 and died in 1536.

The story is divided into two sections with the first part of the story Spiegelman interviewing his father Vladek about his family life and the agony of genocide survival whereas the second part the author reveals his father s story. This essay focuses on various aspects of the narrative that I find fascinating. Given that the Holocaust is the worst genocide in human history, the first intriguing element of the story is Vladek s endurance and courage to tell his story despite the torment and psychological trauma of a Holocaust survivor. Talking about such horrific experience of abuse and brutality has the tendency to cause a flashback to the events and result in emotional breakdown. Despite the intricacy of the plot Spiegelman embodies the stories to be interconnected. Another interesting aspect of this graphic novel is the illustration form. Spiegelman uses miniature panels combined with images and dialogue balloons which is a distinct approach to diminish the hardship of the matter without degrading its affection. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating egg cells, the female reproductive sex cell containing 23 chromosomes. The female reproductive system is also in charge of making sure fertilization, implantation and that the embryo successfully develops and is born. The male reproductive system is in charge of making healthy sperm(male sex cell) and making sure that it successfully reaches the egg of the female. As most systems are, the male reproductive system is a combination of many components. It all starts at the seminiferous tubules within the testes, where the sperm is created, however, the testes create hormones that regulate the production of sperm. Surrounding the testes is the scrotum, a sac of skin that keeps the sperm at about 3 degrees Celsius below body temperature. After the sperm matures, it is stored in the epididymis until ejaculation occurs, during ejaculation, the epididymis contracts, releasing the sperm into the vas deferens, a long tube that connects the urethra and the epididymis. The sperm then passes by 3 glands, the seminal vesicle which provides sugars, the prostate gland which provides an alkaline fluid for protection and finally the Cowper s gland which provides a lubricant for the sperm to travel in. This mixture of substances, called semen is ejaculated out the urethra and finally the penis and hopefully into the female s reproductive system. However the penis must be erect for the sperm to successfully enter the female s vagina, this is where erectile tissue comes in, the tissue is inflated with blood, keeping the penis erect and ensuring that the sperm enters the vagina. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating eggs and ensuring the development of the embryo into a fully grown fetus. Just like the male reproductive system, the female

Each group completed a gram stain followed by a series of other test in order to identify the unknown bacteria. Each student conducted separate testing s on one unknown in order to specifically identify the strain. Materials and Methods First and foremost the gram stain is conducted to differentiate gram positive bacteria from gram negative bacteria due to their cell structure. The thick layer of peptidoglycan in gram positive bacteria allows the crystal violet dye to retain a purple color, whereas, the thin peptidoglycan in gram negative bacteria is decolorized and counter stained with safranin red in order to be viewed in the microscope. (1) The gram stain procedure begins with a clean slide and a sterile loop. A drop of water is applied to the slide followed by a pinhead size of unknown bacteria. The slide air dries and then is heat fixed with a Bunsen burner. Subsequently, the crystal violet is applied to the smear, followed by the mordant, Gram s iodine. Next, the decolorizer is applied then washed. Finally safranin is applied to the smear and also washed. The slide is blot dried with bibulous paper and ready for the microscope. However, to ensure a good visual, oil immersion is applied to increase the resolution. Following the gram stain is the catalase test, which is utilized to determine if a specimen is streptococcus or staphylococcus. A sample of bacteria is placed on a slide and combined with a few drops of peroxide. For further testing, a blood agar plate is inoculated for rapid identification methods for Streptococcus. Each strain of Strep. is sensitive to only one test on the rapid I.D method, therefore enabling a process of elimination. The procedure is as follows, forty percent of the unknown is applied to the top portion of the agar. Subsequently, three antibiotic discs, Bacitracin A disc, Optochin P disc, and SXT disc are situated along the unknown bacteria. Afterwards, a horizontal line of Staph. Aureus is drawn along the bottom of the agar. Next, a vertical line is drawn from the unknown bacteria to top of the Staph. Aureus, ensuring the vertical line does not touch the Staph. Proceeding

Interestingly, the genes encoding proteins responsible for these functions in humans are orthologous genes in D. melanogaster that encode for proteins sharing similar functions, as well as the additional function of determining eye colorin D. melanogaster (Syrzycka et al 2005). Specifically, maroon eye color mutation (ma) in drosophila that results from disruption in the presence of ommochrome and pteridine pigments has been traced to a mutation of the Vps16A gene (Grant et al 2016). Previous research has identified the Vps16A component of the Class C VPS as encoding for proteins that act as tumor suppressants (Pulipparacharuvil et al). Thus, the identification of eye color mutations as the result of disruptions in the amount of pigment present has been essential in allowing scientists to identify the proteins responsible for trafficking within the cell, as well as the consequences that result when the proteins involved in these processes are disrupted (Cheli et al 2010 and Syrzycka et al 2005). It is genetically transmitted with a 30% increased risk of first degree relatives developing psoriasis and a 72% concordance between monozygotic twins (Habif, 2010; Mahajan Handa, 2013). A genetic and hereditary (autosomal dominant with 60% penetration) basis for psoriasis is supported by the presence of certain major histocompatibility complex antigens, HLAs A1, B13, B17, B37, DR7, in certain psoriasis patients (Mahajan Handa, 2013). The theme of this book is loss of civilization takes men back to the savage that they have evolved from, and literary devices illustrating the theme are tone, diction and allusion. This shows the boys regression because when they first got on the island, it would be more likely that Golding would use words to describe a human not an animal, so this means the boys have deteriorated overtime. Another example of Golding using diction to show the boys regression is in this quote: The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away. (55). Where women s roles are exclusively defined in terms of household management and matrimonial duties, as is the case in Ethiopia, they are subject to the expectation that they replenish the race by bearing a large number of children and assume full responsibility for maintaining them almost single handedly. Since women are, by and large, economically dependent on men, the decision to have or not have children rests, primarily in the husband and his relatives. The conscious but unarticulated realization that not all children born survive, serves as an inducement to high fertility performance in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This went up to 58.6% in the reporting year 1986/87. Clearly, this can only represent a very small proportion of women, particularly those of younger ages who seek abortion from unauthorized sources. The conclusion to be drawn from the discussion of the current situation of women in the Ethiopian society is that vigorous steps have to be taken by government to remove all the cultural and social impediments militating against their full enjoyment of fundamental human rights. Raising the status of women involves, inter alia, increasing female participation in the educational system at all levels, removing all social and cultural impediments militating against their competitive involvement in the economy in general and the market place in particular. Learning New Motor Skills For A Chronic Neurological Disorder Coordinated movements are important to complete basic daily tasks, but for some children developmental milestones are not reached because of a chronic neurological disorder. Developmental coordination disorder, commonly known as DCD, occurs when there is a delay in motor skill development, which can cause difficulty in coordinating movements (Cairney, 2010, p. e67). Symptoms of this disorder include clumsiness, difficulties with fine and gross motor skills, as well as sensory integrative dysfunction (Missiuna, p. 2). Physical characteristics the child may exhibit are delayed movements, difficulty learning new motor skills, problems with balance, and difficulties with skills that involve constant feedback to plan new movements such as printing or handwriting (Missiuna, p. 3). Children with DCD must overcome individual constraints when it comes to any task. They commonly have low muscle mass and low muscle tone, reduced motor control, and lack body awareness (Missiuna, p. 3). As for emotional characteristics, children with DCD often show little interest in activities that demand a physical reaction, demonstrate frustration, low self confidence, and a lack of motivation (Missiuna, p. 3). Functional constraints they regularly struggle with include difficulty judging distance of objects, planning and execution of tasks, attention, and anxiety (Barnhart, 2003, p. 725). This disorder affects 5 6% of school aged children and is diagnosed more in boys than girls (Cairney, 2010,

Globalisation has brought a wave of improvement and development in technology and knowledge, also bought a change to the world. So, in the international trade context, there are four different ways to transfer money from the buyer to the seller as advance payment, letters of credit, draft and open account, and in the different methods have their own risks. So, this essay will evaluate the potential risks which could occur and will look at what situations is each method commonly used. He discusses the things which he believes to be more perfect and the things which he believes to be less perfect (pt 2, para 1). When comparing the two, he eventually comes to the conclusion that things that are more perfect are constructed by fewer hands and have specific purpose (pt 2, para 1). He also introduces in the opening portion of his work that his opinion of good sense is the ability to judge rightly and to follow through with the judgments (pt. 1, para 1). He concludes his writing by explaining that he believes that thinking is a non mechanistic action, and he makes several points to confirm this (pt. 5, para 10). Descartes makes claims that sometimes compare thinking to the workings of a machine. However, he is correct in saying that thinking is a non mechanistic action. Because human beings thought processes are not mechanical, we must take care to use good sense in order to make right judgment. Descartes opens his Discourse by explaining that he believes that good sense, when fully developed, is the power to judge rightly (pt 1, para 1). He says that each individual has the same capacity for judgment, but differences arise based on the extent to which an individual is able to use their reason. In presenting these opinions, Descartes makes the point that it is not enough to have a good mind the individual who possesses the good mind

Both poems put a great emphasis on the depiction of the narrator s emotion. The poems are focused on feelings and emotions of their narrators. At the same time, it should noted that a lot of attractive in both poems is given to the setting. In fact, the setting plays an important role to both poems. In these scenes, we again see the mask motif being depicted by Spiegelman. In an earlier scene, Art is shown morphing his character from an adult to a childlike version of himself (42). In society children are symbols of nativity and immaturity. Conversely, adults are symbols of wisdom and growth. By showing this transformation, Spiegelman is showing that he feels less of an adult when compared to his father and less of a Jewish person than those survivors of Auschwitz. Spiegelman has now illustrated art as a child with a mask mouse on. This drawing of Art conveys to the reader that he sees himself not only as inadequate, but also not authentically Jewish as well. As Art speaks to Pavel, he continues to take this form. He also confirms to Pavel his feelings of inadequacy by explaining once again No matter what I accomplish, it doesn t seem like much compared to surviving Auschwitz (44). He is still consumed with these feelings of not being Jewish enough. As he converses with Pavel, Art confirms to Pavel that he admires his dad for surviving Auschwitz (45). When Pavel mentions to Art that those who died in the Holocaust cannot tell their story, Art replies by quoting every word is a stain on silence and nothingness (45). This interaction implies that Art concurs that speaking on such an event like the Holocaust by those who did not experience it, is a

The timeless message of the social elites obsession with their self imposed high statuses is the target of Oscar Wilde s satirical play, The Importance of Being Earnest. Wilde defaces the reputations elites upheld in the Victorian eraand outlines the deviant display of Victorian manners as hypocritical. The quick witted dialogue of his characters incites comedy which masks the underlying criticism of the Victorian way of life. Oscar Wilde s masterful use of satire, the neologism Bunbury, and mockery of the Victorian society establish the theme of duality embedded throughout the play, The Importance of Being Earnest. Satire is applied to highlight the folly embedded in Victorian logic, demonstrated by their manner of addressing important matters with triviality. This new policy relies on the threat tactic of schools improving for fear of federal funding being reduced; if a school does not meet the new standards, how will reducing funding improve it? The government will continue funding school districts which are already capable of invoking sufficient test scores, while cutting back funding to the districts which can not, offering the alternative of government funded transportation to another school. This is the legislation s flaw: it should be teachers taking proficiency tests periodically to display their qualifications in order to remain teaching. Most teachers are dedicated to their own education, and so would not likely oppose such a policy. Instead we have the federal government holding funding with the justification of accountability over school districts, demanding improved test scores.
