Native Americans And The Americans
1.The initial contact between Native Americans and the Europeans was far more unique than any other
racial interaction because the Native Americans were already residing in the United States. As for
other ethnic groups, they were foreign to the new soil in Northern America. At first, the Native
Americans held hospitality towards the arriving Europeans, whereas, the Europeans did not hold any
hospitality towards the arriving immigrants. The Europeans response to the Native Americans
hospitality was to slaughter and exploit the entire race for the mere profit of land access.
2.Certain myths about Native Americans make them feel as if there is no progress within their
community. Within the media, Native Americans are often portrayed towards living in archaic
conditions with structures such as teepees. These images often lead people to think that the Native
community has not evolved with the white society. Thus, when images of Native chiefs and princess s
are shown they offend them because they are only represented by the white supremacist viewpoint.
These images make people believe that the Natives are stuck at a certain time period. Whenever
images like the Nobel Savage are introduced it causes many within the Native community to get
fueled with anger because it is not true, for Natives had already developed civilizations amongst their
own people with equality for all. The Nobel Savage ideal portrays them as vulnerable people, when in
fact; Native Americans were capable of

Women, Oppression, And Treatment Of Young Girls And Women...
From the moment the first American settlers stepped off their musty ship and laid foot on the fertile
soil which makes up our great nation, women in America have almost always been seen as inferior
when compared to their male counterparts. What s more, Americans have a rich history in oppressing
those we deem to be lesser. In terms of women, this oppression has taken on many forms throughout
the years. From not being able to go to school to receive a proper education, to being denied suffrage,
to being criticized for how they look or what they wear, women have encountered obstacles that men
can sometimes only imagine. We as a nation have a defining past in which women were, and
sometimes still are, expected to look or act in a manner defined as appropriate by men and even by
each other. Nowadays, it seems as though we are attempting to compensate for the years of
mistreatment by sending positive messages of acceptance to young girls and women alike. However,
while one half of the population is being praised for their uniqueness, there is still another half who
are being left to fend for themselves in the shadows. Men and boys, though always perceived as the
strong and indestructible members of society, are not given the same encouraging spotlight as women
and girls. We live in a world where problems related to self image and self worth are gender neutral;
they do not merely seek to harm a single sex. Why then, does society typically only remind women
how truly special they

Traditionalism In Texas
The United States of America is a country priding itself on providing equal opportunity for the right of
life, liberty, and property. These unalienable rights, according to the Founding Fathers, were not to be
taken away or denied by the American government. Also known as a natural right, the right to life can
be classified as a citizen s right to be protected by the government from abuse or death. Property
classifies the right that a citizen has for owning materialistic items and land for which can be
considered private. Finally, the right of liberty presented in the Constitution for a citizen refers to
many different aspects ranging from freedom of speech and expression, right to bear arms, freedom of
religion, freedom against search and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Texas case served as the tip of the iceberg into advancing the gay rights movement in Texas and
nationwide. Without the case as well as the specific decision made by the Supreme Court, Texas
would still be majorly intolerant, discriminant, and unrepresented by the LGBT community and
supporters. Lawrence and Garner were two men who fought for their love, their privacy, and their
rights, and they came out successfully in the end in turn affecting all of society and many events that
have taken place since 2003. Considering if sodomy laws were still implemented in Texas, an injustice
and unconstitutional hindrance would be in place fostering the traditional culture and conservative
views that are voiced as the majority in Texas. In the past few years, Texas Democrats have voiced
their support of same sex marriage, the next step in the gay rights movement. In 2012 their support
and advocacy in favor of same sex marriage began and it would not have been possible without the
existence of the Lawrence v. Texas case and its six to three ruling declaring the sodomy laws in Texas
unconstitutional. The LGBT community wants what all Americans expect: life, liberty, and property.
The pursuit of happiness is the added bonus as to what they strive for, and it was made possible by the
ruling of the Lawrence v. Texas case in

What Aspects Of Your Soul Were You Trying To Represent In...
1. What aspects of your soul were you trying to represent in your sculpture? There were a total of 3
aspects of my soul which I used as the inspiration for my sculpture; responsibility, creativity, and
perfectionist. To demonstrate responsibility, my sculpture has a supporting like figure on one side
which is situated to support the free flowing structure of the leaf like figure on the other side. It
resembles an open hand and which is there to protect the leaf structure from falling over before it
actually does. In addition, the monochromatic colour scheme of red violet with the base being a very
dark shade shows the hand structure as being rooted to the ground and very secure. All together the
structure acts as a precaution which represents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For one, its positioning across the leaf structure was effective at depicting it as a precaution. The leaf
like structure seems to be growing and moving with its free flowing layers, and so the hand seems to
be on the opposite side to prevent the layers from overgrowing and falling under their own weight.
The space between the two objects however indicates that the leaf structure hasn t fully grown, and so
the support is situated there before they reach that length. Secondly, the form of the hand is very thick
and its base extends outwards from the main base, giving it a strong and stable form which makes it
efficient as a support. To a certain degree, this represents the preparedness required for one to be
responsible. Finally, the monochromatic red violet with a darkly shaded base demonstrates the fixated
structure. The black represents the part where the structure is connected to the ground, which
effectively portrays it as a supportive structure. The colour, form and position of the structure portrays
responsibility as it is a precaution and supports the creative side of me without letting it overgrow and
become too drastic, which is one thing I believe was effective in my

Differences Of Fear In Once Upon A Time By Nadine Gordimer
Omphalophobia is the fear of belly buttons. Strange thing is, we are all connected through those
bizarre digs in the middle of our stomachs. Everyone grew and came from the same place, cut from
the same cord. A lot of times no one remembers this, and they strike out against each other, or hide
from each other in fear, because of skin color or religion. Fear is something that inhabits all of us.
Writhing underneath our skin just waiting to find a reason to be unleashed. This feeling can be used in
different ways, bringing everyone together, or tearing people from civilization. In the same way, the
written works Once Upon a Time , A Quilt of a Country and The Vietnam Wall show the contrast
between these two types of fear.
In the story Once Upon a Time written by Nadine Gordimer, fear is a concept that dictates the leading
characters thoughts and actions. The husband and wife that are supposedly living happily ever after,
have built a wall around their house to keep out the raids and the burglars that had roamed the
suburbian streets they lived on at night. Fear is what led this family to destruction, killing their son
and handing them misery and the knowledge that the wall they put up, didn t save them from
anything. If the husband and wife hadn t listened to the wise old witch and her warning and left their
house uncaged, and accessible to everyone else, their son might still be alive and unburdened by the
rest of the world and the fear that controlled

Me and You and Memento and Fargo by J.J. Murphy
Structure in any form of narrative is vital, whether it be in films, books, theatre, etc. It is a frame for a
story to work within. While there is a traditional method and formula to structuring a film narrative,
filmmakers all over the world have experimented with breaking the norm and trying new ways to
structure a film. It tested the viewer s notion of what structure is and how a narrative can be told. It
was also new and something that audiences were not used to. Even now, a film that moves too far
away from the traditional three act structure, is highly experimental and usually only seen in
independent or student films. In this essay I will look at the film Slacker (Linklater, 1991) and see how

Act I, the screenwriter sets up the story, establishes character, launches the dramatic premise (what the
story is about), illustrates the situation (the circumstances surrounding the action), and creates the
relationships between the main character and the other characters who inhabit the landscape of his or
her world. (Field,
2005:21)
At the end of the first act there is a turning point, also known as the inciting incident , that signals the
start of the second act which is what Field (2005:24) calls Confrontation . While act one and act three
usually translates to about roughly a quarter of the story s length each, act two is usually half of the
entire script. During this second act the main character encounters obstacle after obstacle that keeps
him/her from achieving his/her dramatic need, which is defined as what
the character wants to win, gain, get, or achieve during the course of the screenplay. (Field, 2005:25)
...resolution means solution. (Field, 2005:26) In the third and final act, the resolution, the story and
characters reach a climax. Here the character usually faces his fears, overcomes his biggest obstacles
and defeats the antagonist, though not always. There is a de escalation in act three. In the book Story
(McKee, 1997:105 106) Robert McKee defines the function of structure and character: The function

Nacirema Culture Analysis
For us to properly learn about culture, we must understand the meaning of cultural relativism and
ethnocentrism. The two concepts challenge one another. Reading the article, we must pull away from
our ethnocentric views and think critically about the Nacirema people s. However, the description of
the culture creates an ideology that is hard to agree with. For example, the Nacirema peoples take part
in a rite that involves hog hairs and magical powders. The Nacirema rituals do sound strange and
displeasing but, we have to learn to recognize our ethnocentric judgments.
An anthropologist will try to read and understand the Nacirema culture with the notion of being
culturally relative. With this way of thinking in mind, we could study the Nacirema peoples without
any judgment. If we can come to terms with our ethnocentric views, we can quickly analyze the wrong
way of thinking. Therefore, we can try to understand the Nacirema culture through their shoes. If we
keep looking at their cultural in a primarily ethnocentric perspective, we would not have found the
similarities between the Nacirema culture and our own. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Movie Smoke Signals
Smoke Signals The movie, Smoke Signals is about a young Native American man named Victor.
Victor grew up on a reservation. His parents, Arnold and Arlene both liked to drink and party. Arnold
and his drinking habit spiral out of control. We see Arnold smack Victor and his mother around. This
occurs when alcohol is involved. One morning after a night of partying Arlene wakes up to see that
her son, Victor, is outside throwing beer bottles at his fathers truck. Arlene decides to stop drinking
after witnessing this. Arlene attempts to get Arnold to quit drinking but this only puts a strain on their
marriage and soon Arnold leaves. Arnold left the family when Victor was 12 years old. This abrupt
departure had a tremendous affect on Victor who became increasingly angry. Victor focused his anger
and attention on basketball and he was able to stay out of trouble. Arlene quit drinking and assumed
all responsibilities as the head of the household. Arlene and Victor live this way with no contact from
Arnold. One day when Victor was 22 years old Arlene receives a phone call that Arnold had passed
away. Someone needed to travel to Arizona to gather Arnold s things. Victor decides that he will travel
to Arizona with the help of his friend Thomas. Thomas is more of a nerd than Victor is. Thomas says
whatever comes to his mind and this can test Victor s patience. Thomas seems to have a hard time in
social situations and frequently tells stories. Thomas would have dies as an enfant

Political Corruption, Inequality, And The Socially Excluded
Floid Krajcovic
Political Corruption, Inequality, and the Socially Excluded
Everyone knows that in our current society there are large amounts of political, equality, and social
gaps that occur and can be clearly seen between the wealthy and the poor when it comes to politics,
equality, and being socially accepted in the United States by others. People who are affected by these
issues can and will experience social and political exploitations along with political and social abuse
from numerous entities (Salas, 2013). These political and social exploitations and abuses occur on a
daily basis and can cause great harm to those affected by them. People that are affected by these issues
are usually the targets of corrupt politicians, inequalities, and social exclusion from others and must
find a way to fight back in order to gain some form of or type of social justice for themselves and
those of the same social class as them. If everyone in this social class decides or chooses to keep quite
or continue to keep remaining silent then social change concerning exploitations and the social abuses
they face will never occur and these injustices will keep happening over and over again (Salas, 2013).
However, the approach that is used in seeking that change must be respectful to and of all involved
wanting and seeking the change.
One way that many of these injustices or social exploitations and abuses can be changed forever is by
taking our old/current political injustice system of

Generations Series Book 1 Gray Hats By: Joseph Lieber and Zachary Hammerman Once, there was a
boy named Tom Tapia. He was about 10, almost 11. He loved to play games like Stare_Woofs, or
really any hacking game. When he grew up... he was a hacker, a black hat one. He started out as just a
script kiddy, in high school, changing his grades and charging other students to change theirs. Then he
grew more and more intelligent. He learned how to hack in C++, then all forms of Java, then Lua, and
eventually every programming language. By the time he was 25, he was a very skilled hacker, even
attempted the white house once, almost made it when the daily system reboot threw em out. One day,
he heard a knock on his apartment door while he was playing Stare_Woofs 3. At this point he was 31
years old. This is the CIA. Open up or we will arrest. He opened the door and asked what was
happening and one of the agents said We have retraced a large surplus of illegal hacks back to this
location, we have a permit to search your computer . Tom allowed them to search his computer... that

Nutrition Action Plan
My current diet is not consistent. Some days I will have well balanced meals, which consist of fruits,
veggies, dairy, protein, and whole grains. Other days I will just eat what is easy to make or worst I will
skip a meal. Also, on some days I will just snack all day. By skipping meals or just snacking on
whatever is easiest, is not very healthy because my body is not getting the right nutrients it needs to
function healthily. Also, by snacking all day, I am eating more then what my body needs or doesn t
need and is stored as fat most likely. My action plan to improve my dietary behavior is to measure out

On days I do not work I will sleep in as long as I can. I am also a restless sleeper, I know this because
my jawbone also records my sleep pattern. I feel like my sleep is inadequate because most days I feel
tired in the morning except on days I sleep in. Stress from work and school also plays a role in my
inadequate sleep. I do not have a nightly routine that will make me feel relaxed and ready for bed. My
plan to increase my sleep is to start a nightly routine of doing some yoga to calm my body from stress
or read a book that I enjoy to read. I also need to go to bed at the same time every night and wake up
every morning at the same time, so that my eternal clock will get use to my nightly routine. This will
help me sleep better throughout the night. Homework and TV are my main barriers for making it hard
to get to bed early. I need to set an exact time to start my nightly routine, that way I have no excuses to

The Weight Restriction For Muscle Mass During Resistance...
Introduction Over the last few years, there has been an increasing weight lifting culture. Adepts of the
weight lifting community have developed all sorts of theories and training regimens in order to
optimise the gains in muscle mass during resistance training. Unfortunately, many methods developed
by these adepts have not yet been proved to be efficient by any scientific studies. Luckily, some
researchers have studied the responses of muscle protein metabolism to nutrition and exercise and
have enlightened us with knowledge regarding the function and importance of certain nutrients in
protein synthesis (K. Tipton Wolfe, 2001)
When performing resistance training over a period of time, muscular mass can increase (hypertrophy)
in response to the specific stimulus induced on the muscle fibers during the exercise. In order for the
skeletal muscle to grow, net protein synthesis must occur (protein synthesis must exceed protein
breakdown). Net protein synthesis is non achievable if resistance training is performed alone without
the intake of certain dietary nutrients (K. Tipton Wolfe, 2001). Recent evidence has shown that an
increase in circulating amino acids induced by the consumption of certain nutrients following exercise
can increase the net protein balance due to stimulation of muscle protein synthesis (Tang et al., 2007).
Amino acids are the basic unit of protein structure and peptide bonds link amino acids in chains that
take on diverse forms and chemical

The Influence Of Country Music
Do you ever listen to Ave Maria on full blast while working out, or maybe listen to heavy metal when
you re trying to relax? The answer is most likely no. This is because music has an unbelievable ability
to set a mood, and this mood varies depending on which genre you decide to indulge in. The
components we rely on to set this mood are the lyrics, variety of instruments involved, and the
emotion behind the voice. While relaxing on the beach I prefer a country song like This is How We
Roll by Florida Georgia Line, whereas when I workout I prefer Live from the Gutter by Future and
Drake. This association is dependent on the lyrics and style of musical performance. Country music as
a whole has developed from hillbilly boogie, to honky tonk, to what we commonly hear on the radio
today as Nashville sound, or country pop. The honky tonk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In This is How we Roll Florida Georgia Line transitions from singing their lyrics to a country rap
where the beat slows and the lyrics are sped up on a rhyme scheme. Similarly, Future took a step away
from an overload of modulated bass to incorporate a piano rift instead. We as listeners use these
genres of music to describe the music we like to listen to. However, the spectrum is so broad that it is
important to understand what composes a specific genre. There are hundreds of sub genres included in
the overall label of country or hip hop music, and the list continues to expand as artists proceed to
develop new creative ideas that make it to the top of the billboards. Both of these songs are examples
of songs that swept the nation with popularity but experimented with new styles the diverged from the
norms of the genre. I believe genres will always stay true to their cultural origins; however, I m
excited for the future of music as artists continue to dip into various new

The Reception And Influence Of Rebecca Harding Davis
Among the multitudes of upper class women in the nineteenth century, struggling with their own
problems, few felt the need to speak out for others, especially the lower classes. However, Rebecca
Harding Davis observed the suffering of all humanity and decided to give everyone a voice through
her writings. Throughout her career, Davis wrote an innumerable amount of works advocating for
equal rights among all people, right up until her death in 1910. The following paper will analyze and
discuss the reception and influence that Rebecca Harding Davis s works of literary realism had on the
hierarchy of society, in relation to class, from the nineteenth century to the present. Furthermore,
Davis s own personal experiences will also be discussed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beyond her parents, Davis was also influenced by many notable authors who showed her that
everyday life and people could actually be depicted in literature. Among these notable authors, Davis
particularly favored Nathaniel Hawthorne s Twice Told Tales, and the stories within this collection
shocked Davis at their boldness. One of these short stories within Hawthorne s collection in particular,
entitled The Ambitious Guest, was fascinating to Davis because of the horrifying ending in which
everyone dies. This ending completely went against what Davis had been exposed to growing up in a
society coddled by Romanticism, and she enjoyed the change. Together, these influences created a
pioneer for a crucial development in literature: the transition from Romanticism to Realism.
Beginning in 1830, which is, ironically, the year Davis was born, a new literature movement called
Romanticism began. This movement was characterized by stories laden with sentimentality and
focused on the individual. One notable example of a romanticized story would be Sir Walter Scott s
Ivanhoe, in which Ivanhoe falls madly in love with Rowena and does everything in his power to win
her over. This story was one of the many that Davis was exposed to growing up, and she quickly came
to reject the ideals of Romanticism. Davis saw these works of literature as egotistical and
melodramatic, and while she enjoyed good stories, she determined that they could not make any

The Common Reasons Of Lao Illness Essay
The primary belief system across Laos is that all individuals and objects have various souls. This

Either the sins of one have angered their ancestors, or one has lost a soul because of their misdeeds or

can befall them. A list of common reasons of Lao illness is as follows: accidents, infectious disease,
curses, spells, and any taboo violation. The Hmong believe so strongly that illness is caused by some
supernatural cause, they may request a multitude of health services when visiting the US. Generally,
modern healthcare practitioners have a tendency to be scarce in Laos. The rural populations traditional
healing is relied on by shamans, herbalists, magic healers, and other s not trained as well in western

are assigned. For example, someone who diagnoses physical illnesses may be a herbalist. The
herbalist will then dispense herbal medications for treatments. A second example would be contacting

Peter Singer s Capacity For Suffering
Peter Singer is a utilitarian philosopher from Melbourne, Australia. He holds the Chair of Ethics at
Princeton University and professor at Charles Sturt University in Melbourne, Australia. His goal is to
show that rights are based in the capacity for suffering. As part of a utilitarian perspective, Singer
denounced the unequal consideration the interests of animals. He compares the uneven taken into
account the interests of the animals with the discrimination suffered by black people in the West, and
by women. The term animal liberation (All Animals Have Rights) is wanting a layer of the liberation
of women (Women Liberation). For Singer, refuse to take into account the interests of animals on the
basis of a difference in kind with the man is comparable with the rejection suffered by black on the
basis of race, or that of women due gender. The differences reflected in the interests of different
groups should not be based on such criteria. Inspired by the term racism , it refers to as speciesism the
fact to discriminate because of a difference in kind. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Leaders, Achievers, Courage are only a few words that describe Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth,
and Abraham Lincoln and what they achieved. Frederick Douglass was a very courageous man and
leader because he stood up for what was right and he escaped slavery, For Example in the text it says
The more I read , the more I was led to abhor and detest my enslavers . What that sentence means is
that he was reading a book about a slave and his master and the more he read the more he wanted to
enslave all slaves. Sojourner Truth was a courageous leader. She stood up for what she thought was
right and for her that was women rights and ending slavery. In fact, in the text is says Then that little

women rights or negroes rights. She would always stand up for what was right. Abraham Lincoln was
a Achiever and a Courageous leader. He was the man that stopped slavery. It s Important to realize,

Essay on Queen Elizabeth I
Born of a king whose most disappointing day was that of her birth, Elizabeth Tudor s life seemed
almost made for trials and controversy, both personally and politically. Although she had, at times, a
horrible temper and a disagreeable personality, and suffered through many physical and psychological
problems as an adult, Elizabeth proved to be one of the most remarkable monarchs in English history.
Firstly, I will discuss Elizabeth s family (including her many stepmothers), and then I will talk about
her relationship with her siblings under their power. Thirdly, I will examine religion and how it
affected her opinions and politics during her reign. Lastly, I will look at foreign politics of the time

She was beheaded and buried near her cousin, Ann Boleyn. In 1543, the King married for the last
time. Catherine Parr was a very good wife and stepmother. She encouraged Elizabeth and Edward in
their lessons and in their interest in the protestant church. King Henry died in 1547. Edward became
the king at the young age of ten. Elizabeth and Edward remained very close throughout his reign, and,
because they were not allowed to live in the same residence, many fond letters were exchanged
between them. Soon, though, Edward became ill. He, knowing he probably would not live much
longer, made a quick revision to Henry VIII s will. Mary Tudor (a catholic) was supposed to become
queen at his death, but he replaced her with his cousin, Lady Jane Grey, a protestant. After Edward s
death, Jane Grey was queen for ten days before the public rallied and gave their support to Mary. Jane
Grey was executed and Mary was declared queen. The nation was restored to Catholicism. Mary, to

reconciliation to the Church could be brought about, Mary was ready, not entirely to trust her, but to

the ontological argument, the cosmological argument, and the teleological argument. St. Anselm of
eleventh century, and Descartes of seventeenth century, have used the ontological argument for
proving the existence of God. The God, for them, is supreme, quot;needing nothing outside himself,
but needful for the being and well being of all things. quot; (Pg. 305).
St Anselm s account of the ontological argument for the existence of God deals with the existence in
the understanding vs. existence in reality. He defines God as

308). Hence, it is just as much of a contradiction to think of God (that is, a supremely perfect being)
lacking existence (that is, lacking perfection), as it is to think of a mountain without a valley.
His theory is that he can t think of God without it existing and therefore it exists. Also he gives God all
kinds of perfection and because existence is one of the perfection,
quot;God necessarily exists. quot; (Pg. 309).
Kant s critique of Anselm s and Descartes arguments state that existence is not a perfection because all
perfections are qualities, and existence is not any kind of characteristic, quality, attribute, or property.
When we say that something exists, Kant argued, we quot;add nothing to quot; our concept of that
thing we merely say that there is something similar to that concept. It follows that no matter how
many characteristics of a thing we list; we will still not have answered the question whether there is
something having all those characteristics. quot;Being is evidently not a real predicate, or a concept of
something that can be added to the concept of a thing. It is merely the admission of a thing, and of
certain determinations in it. quot; (Pg. 311). His argument is that it is all right to say that God has
certain characteristics but it is another to say that such a God exists. Many contemporary philosophers
agree with Kant s argument, but many others do not. Furthermore, contemporary logicians have

A Brief Note On Sub Saharan Region As Low Developing...
Sub Saharan region as low developing countries are claimed to have a low electricity access and
modern cooking access though they have a large supply of energy resources. In the recent years, there
is a huge jump of their economic performances, however, the improvement is limited because of the
inefficiencies of power sector and poor power infrastructure are dragging its back. In line with the
population growth in Africa, they all become the constraints of further economic development due to
the lowering of electricity access rate. Thus, the low generation and access levels will result in a low
per capita consumption. In fact, not only traditional biomass fuels lead to an unstable electricity
supply, drawbacks to the economic, social and environmental aspects are also brought by the severe
indoor air pollution which may damage human health. The three readings below give readers a
thorough and detailed analysis based on the ways to widen the energy access in sub Saharan Africa in
order to achieve the energy access goal set by the FEMA and some regional economic organisations.
Prasad s is an insightful one with the thesis of boosting the performance of woodfuel sector and
upgrading the promotion of improved cookstoves are essential to raise the rate of energy access in sub
Saharan Africa. The author first points out the key reasons lie behind of the low energy access levels
are: low consumption of electricity by the low income of the residents in the areas, unstable power

As An Entrepreneur Who Has Formed A New Small Business
As an entrepreneur who has formed a new small business I understand the need for a marketing
strategy. A marketing strategy identifies the planned marketing programs, all the marketing activities
that a business will use to achieve its marketing goals, and when those activities will occur (Ebert and
Griffin 349). A marketing strategy is all about planning the marketing mix, which includes product,
price, place, and promotion. But, first selecting and analyzing a target market for the marketing mix
and product is best for satisfying the target market and the firm s marketing efforts. As an
entrepreneur, it is my responsibility to understand the marketing strategy, to select and analyze a target
market, and create and maintain a marketing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in 2000 had 5,686 people living in the town. The city of Beegee in 2000 had 29,636 people living in
the city. The city of Beegee has more people aged from 18 24 due to being a college city with
students. While, the town of Pelican has more people aged 65 years of age or older due to being a
hometown. The town of Pelican has 3,005 households and 70.0% are married couples living together.
The city of Beegee has 10,266 households and only 33.2% are married couples living together. Which
seems like a city where people come and go, instead of staying in place. Both Pelican and Beegee
have a variety of customer types in common. For instance, the types are households, children, married
couples, under age kids, adults, and seniors. Although Beegee has more of the population below the
poverty line at 25.3% and Pelican has only 2.83% under the poverty line. On the other hand, as an
entrepreneur of a small business called Lynn s Designs I would like to make my target market in the
city of Beegee. I want my small business in Beegee because the city is where more jobs and college
students are located. The plan for the marketing mix is using the four P s, which are product, pricing,
place, and promotion. For product, Lynn s Designs will provide services for logo designs, business

Who Is The Giver Intelligent
People all over the world wish for a peaceful society, and while there is nothing wrong with this, be
careful what you wish for. A perfect society is highly unattainable and Lois Lowry s novel The Giver
depicts that. In the novel, the protagonist, Jonas, lives in a community of sameness where people do
not know what emotions are and cannot comprehend a life of vibrance, but he tries to change that.
Jonas has a very dynamic portrayal due to specific events and minor charaters.
In the beginning he is very obedient and intelligent. he rarely gets in trouble and was only chatised
twice in his life. Once for taking an apple home and another time for joking about release. He believes
in his community and follows all rules without question or concern. One can infer that Jonas is
intelligent because he is very careful about his word choice. He often corrects his friend Asher s
precision of language, and when he is anxious about the upcoming Ceremony of Twelve he uses the
word apprehesive rather than frightened. At the Ceremony, the Cheif Elder comments on Jonas s
intelligence when explaining why Jonas was selected to be the new Receiver of Memory. ... Show

cause him to think of choice. He wonders what it would be like to choose the colour of one s tunic or

After witnessing the footage he discovers that release means death. The next day, Jonas s father tells
the family that Gabe, a newborn living with them, is scheduled for release. This is the last force that

The Role Of Mitochondrial Respiration In Macrophages
Mitochondrial respiration is the final process of metabolic reactions to generate biological energy
(ATP) along with glycolysis and Krebs cycle. Mitochondrial respiration is critical not only host
immune cells to limit the IVI but also influenza virus to replicate the genes for survival by exploiting
energy source. Interestingly, influenza virus leads hypoactive mitochondrial respiration in epithelial
cells but causes hyperactive mitochondrial respiration in immune cells, especially macrophages, so
that stimulates the generation of ROS and antiviral signaling pathways. Thus, regulation of
mitochondrial respiration in alveolar macrophages can be a potential target of IVI. Recent evidences
suggested that miRNAs can modulate mitochondrial respiration

Prescribing Drugs And Its Effects On Children
Last year, I wrote about a scary trend in which doctors are prescribing powerful ADHD medications to
minors, whether they meet the ADHD diagnostic criteria or not. In that article, I noted that more than
70 percent of the children receiving ADHD medications in my home state, Oklahoma, do not meet
diagnostic criteria for ADHD, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Why, then,
are so many young people being medicated with these drugs? As I noted in the above piece, some
doctors are prescribing ADHD drugs to kids simply to help them get better grades in school. These
study drugs, common for years among the college set, are now being demanded by parents who want
their kids to get top scores, even at the elementary school level. But what are the risks? Well, besides
the many well known side effects, including stunted growth, sleep problems, personality changes,
suicidal thoughts, heart attacks and strokes, doctors have now added priapism and the possibility of
permanent erectile dysfunction to the list. ADHD drugs and priapism According to this press release
from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, many ADHD drugs, including those containing
methylphenidate products, atomoxetine, and even those containing amphetamine products have been
reportedly linked to cases of priapism. What is priapism? That is a painful erection that will not go
away on its own and requires emergency medical treatment. Left untreated, priapism can lead to
permanent damage to

Reaction Paper About Imelda Marcos
It is without a doubt that she is beautiful. Despite our ability to perceive beauty as something beyond
one s exterior, Imelda Marcos charmed her audiences with her porcelain and flawless skin, her distinct
up do, her demeanor, and her numerous shoes. People still clamor for her and some still worship the
ground she walks on. As an influential woman, she aimed to inspire others to live by God, love and
beauty as she had, albeit the methods. Little does she recognize, however, that despite her seemingly
heroic attempts to reclaim Filipino identity, she illustrated how beguiled men and women to believe
her and her husband as agents of change for several years before they finally rid themselves of the
smoke and mirrors.
The focus of the documentary was Imelda Romualdez Marcos who lived inside her personal bubble
while living inside a plush home with large ceilings and walls covered in Italian leather and
embroidery. Coming from a powerful and affluent family, Imelda Marcos has been both secluded and
exposed for most of her younger years. She was considered in seclusion because she did not know the
pains the underprivileged underwent to survive daily. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

There is dissociation, as abovementioned, between the current conditions of the Filipinos during
Marcos rule full of fear and discontent, and the world of glamorous, beautiful, extravagant life full of

Periosteum
Periosteum is a dense layer of connective tissue. It is very thin and is on the outside of the bone. It
plays a vital role in growth and repair. It is divided into two sections, an outer layer and inner layer.
The inner layer contains osteoblasts which helps with the increase of the width and length of other
bone types. [13]

Compact bones are also called cortical bone. Cortical bone is one of the two different bones found in
the body. It is covered by periosteum and is lined with endosteum. These bones make up eighty

Art Vs. Art Education
Art is defined as the expression or application of humans creative skills and imagination. Art is found
in almost everywhere in our day to day lives. Without peoples imagination and creative skills we
wouldn t have buildings, technology and entertainment. Creativity is a important subject in society, yet
the subject being taught in schools is on a decline. How can we live in such an advancing society
when our future generations are not learning how to use their imagination or how to apply their
creative skills? Although people argue that more class time needs to be put towards math and science
classes, art classes need to increase in our schools. Art has many benefits on the brain and Students
who have access to arts in or out of school tend to have better academic results, better workforce
opportunities, and more civic engagement (National Endowment for the Arts). Art education needs to
improve because it is a helpful stress reliever, important for childhood development and helps students
succeed in school and life. Many people underestimate the benefits of art on the brain. Art not only is
a great stress reliever, but it is also a tool used to clear your head and help tackle issues causing stress.
A study done by the University of Westminer found that taking a 30 min trip to a art museum can
significantly lower your stress level (Bergado). Observing art also sparks parts of the brain that are
associated with emotions and contemplations, even if you are not looking

The Consequences Of Drug Use In Go Ask Alice
Imagine reading a book with a great amount of explicit content and an uncanny, mature plot. Go Ask
Alice is a novel published in 1971 about a teenager who experiences drug abuse and later dies due to
an overdose. Due to the obscene use of profanity and drugs, as well as sexual content, the novel has
been banned from libraries and schools across the country. The leading reason for banning is because
it is believed to promote and encourage drug use. However, this narrative does not tell kids that drugs
are cool and encourage them to use, but teaches children the consequences that come with the use of
drugs. Although the book was banned all over the country, there was significant opposition in Rhode
Island and South Carolina. In Tiverton,

Essay on Injustices I Suffered as a Native American
The year is 1828 and I am the Cherokee chief. I and my tribe are living in a house. Our land is full of
minerals like gold. It is summer and it is bloody hot outside. The skies are white and it looks like it
will rain soon. I am very tired and I decide to go to sleep. Suddenly I wake up and look out the
window watching it rain and the houses burn, and this caused a lot of smoke. I see many feral
American soldiers who have surrounded us and burned our houses. They want us away from our
residence, but we can t, because this is the country where our ancestors lived for generations. I see this
with my own eyes that they forcibly try to take our men and women. I also see that an American
soldier killed many innocent people who refuse to leave ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We took a break because we were very thirsty and we told one of the soldiers to give us water.
Hopefully we got water by the American soldiers, but not all of us got enough water to survive due to
a little amount of water. We had to face many difficulties during the march, and most of the difficulties
were due to lack of water and food in the hot desert and the sand hills. After a long walk, they sent us
on a tour. We settled in an undisclosed place and we took a break to sleep. I saw that the Americans
slept with me and I woke up carefully. I raised my hand in the soldier s pocket where I saw the key to
the handcuffs. Following on, I managed to get the key in one of the soldier s pocket, and then I
unlocked my handcuff and my companions too. We took out all the equipment and the other resources.
We tied them together with a rope and took them to prison. One of the American soldiers began to
wake up and make steps towards me. He took out his gun and pointed at me. I heard the sound of a
gun that was soon charged with a bullet, so I turned around quickly and shot the person straight in his
head. He bled and died in agony. The others gave up and promised us that they would kill the other
Cherokee. The Americans joined hand with us and helped us to rebuild our houses and they promised
us to get all the gold minerals back and we lived happily in many years together in peace and
harmony. We got the Congress to sign a peace contract and

The Effects Of Excessive Amounts Of Preservatives On The Food
There are numerous problems going on in America currently; some have more attention than others.
The declining health due to a poor diet in America is one problem that is recently receiving more
attention, as it should. However, a major factor is being overlooked. Excessive amounts of additives
placed in food is a problem. These additives are causing numerous health problems that are literally
killing us. I am bringing up the idea that we need to demand the government and FDA to better
monitor what goes into our food. Consumers also need to demand a change. This means choosing not
to buy preserved food, cutting back on the unnatural foods, and supporting farmer s markets. In this
paper, I will argue that the excessive amounts of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just like it is easy and quick to buy and consume preserved foods, it easier to make them this way. By
adding preservatives, producers are able to lengthen the amount of time that they are still considered
safe to eat. They are also used to add coloring, flavoring, and vitamins or minerals that the food would
otherwise be lacking. There are two types of additives, natural and unnatural. Natural additives are
items such as salt, sugar, and vinegar. Unnatural additives are monosodium glutamate (a food
enhancer), benzoic acid (a preservative used in fruit juices), and food stabilizers such as gums and
waxes (H.S. Jeon). In addition to these, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is allowing about
3,000 more additives such as these in our food.
Excessive amounts of additives in our food is a problem that is not receiving enough attention from
the government. Companies also seem unconcerned with the problem because they are able to make
large amounts of money by selling items in larger packs. The shelf life of food is extended due to the
preservatives, which means it is cheaper for the consumer as well. Rather than having to buy food
continuously because it spoils, families are now able to buy food that will last for long amounts of
time, which means they will have to buy less.
Some argue that preservatives in our food is not as big of a problem as we are making it to be. To

The Appeal And Effect Of Fantasy Essay
This symposium paper will discuss one of the most distinctive features of Keith Waterhouse s
narrative: the appeal and effect of fantasy, in juxtaposition with provincial realism. In the context of
angry young men writers of the mid to late 1950 s.
Billy Liar written by Keith Waterhouse was published in 1959. Waterhouse s work was associated
with a group of novelists and dramatists such as John Braine, Alan Sillitoe and Stan Barstow who
were referenced as angry young men . Notably, the writers were mostly young, working class and
male, who responded to the disillusionment created by the perceived failure of post war
administrations. They considered the labour government had failed to deliver an egalitarian society
and allowed the continuation of an entrenched class system.
The term angry young man , was originally coined in 1956, following the opening of John Osbourne s
play Look Back in Anger (Hague, p.209) which depicted the play s frustrated protagonist, Jimmy
Porter. This play typified a new protagonist in British culture: the white working class, or lower
middle class, disillusioned young male. This new stock character is observed with Waterhouse s
depiction of his protagonist, Billy Fisher. Post World War II, British fiction was witnessing the
emergence of a new kind of protagonist. Keith Waterhouse s central character Billy is representative
of this new flawed character, the antihero. He is a rather seedy young man who is an ingenious and
compulsive liar.

  • 2. Native Americans And The Americans 1.The initial contact between Native Americans and the Europeans was far more unique than any other racial interaction because the Native Americans were already residing in the United States. As for other ethnic groups, they were foreign to the new soil in Northern America. At first, the Native Americans held hospitality towards the arriving Europeans, whereas, the Europeans did not hold any hospitality towards the arriving immigrants. The Europeans response to the Native Americans hospitality was to slaughter and exploit the entire race for the mere profit of land access. 2.Certain myths about Native Americans make them feel as if there is no progress within their community. Within the media, Native Americans are often portrayed towards living in archaic conditions with structures such as teepees. These images often lead people to think that the Native community has not evolved with the white society. Thus, when images of Native chiefs and princess s are shown they offend them because they are only represented by the white supremacist viewpoint. These images make people believe that the Natives are stuck at a certain time period. Whenever images like the Nobel Savage are introduced it causes many within the Native community to get fueled with anger because it is not true, for Natives had already developed civilizations amongst their own people with equality for all. The Nobel Savage ideal portrays them as vulnerable people, when in fact; Native Americans were capable of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Women, Oppression, And Treatment Of Young Girls And Women... From the moment the first American settlers stepped off their musty ship and laid foot on the fertile soil which makes up our great nation, women in America have almost always been seen as inferior when compared to their male counterparts. What s more, Americans have a rich history in oppressing those we deem to be lesser. In terms of women, this oppression has taken on many forms throughout the years. From not being able to go to school to receive a proper education, to being denied suffrage, to being criticized for how they look or what they wear, women have encountered obstacles that men can sometimes only imagine. We as a nation have a defining past in which women were, and sometimes still are, expected to look or act in a manner defined as appropriate by men and even by each other. Nowadays, it seems as though we are attempting to compensate for the years of mistreatment by sending positive messages of acceptance to young girls and women alike. However, while one half of the population is being praised for their uniqueness, there is still another half who are being left to fend for themselves in the shadows. Men and boys, though always perceived as the strong and indestructible members of society, are not given the same encouraging spotlight as women and girls. We live in a world where problems related to self image and self worth are gender neutral; they do not merely seek to harm a single sex. Why then, does society typically only remind women how truly special they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Traditionalism In Texas The United States of America is a country priding itself on providing equal opportunity for the right of life, liberty, and property. These unalienable rights, according to the Founding Fathers, were not to be taken away or denied by the American government. Also known as a natural right, the right to life can be classified as a citizen s right to be protected by the government from abuse or death. Property classifies the right that a citizen has for owning materialistic items and land for which can be considered private. Finally, the right of liberty presented in the Constitution for a citizen refers to many different aspects ranging from freedom of speech and expression, right to bear arms, freedom of religion, freedom against search and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Texas case served as the tip of the iceberg into advancing the gay rights movement in Texas and nationwide. Without the case as well as the specific decision made by the Supreme Court, Texas would still be majorly intolerant, discriminant, and unrepresented by the LGBT community and supporters. Lawrence and Garner were two men who fought for their love, their privacy, and their rights, and they came out successfully in the end in turn affecting all of society and many events that have taken place since 2003. Considering if sodomy laws were still implemented in Texas, an injustice and unconstitutional hindrance would be in place fostering the traditional culture and conservative views that are voiced as the majority in Texas. In the past few years, Texas Democrats have voiced their support of same sex marriage, the next step in the gay rights movement. In 2012 their support and advocacy in favor of same sex marriage began and it would not have been possible without the existence of the Lawrence v. Texas case and its six to three ruling declaring the sodomy laws in Texas unconstitutional. The LGBT community wants what all Americans expect: life, liberty, and property. The pursuit of happiness is the added bonus as to what they strive for, and it was made possible by the ruling of the Lawrence v. Texas case in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Aspects Of Your Soul Were You Trying To Represent In... 1. What aspects of your soul were you trying to represent in your sculpture? There were a total of 3 aspects of my soul which I used as the inspiration for my sculpture; responsibility, creativity, and perfectionist. To demonstrate responsibility, my sculpture has a supporting like figure on one side which is situated to support the free flowing structure of the leaf like figure on the other side. It resembles an open hand and which is there to protect the leaf structure from falling over before it actually does. In addition, the monochromatic colour scheme of red violet with the base being a very dark shade shows the hand structure as being rooted to the ground and very secure. All together the structure acts as a precaution which represents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For one, its positioning across the leaf structure was effective at depicting it as a precaution. The leaf like structure seems to be growing and moving with its free flowing layers, and so the hand seems to be on the opposite side to prevent the layers from overgrowing and falling under their own weight. The space between the two objects however indicates that the leaf structure hasn t fully grown, and so the support is situated there before they reach that length. Secondly, the form of the hand is very thick and its base extends outwards from the main base, giving it a strong and stable form which makes it efficient as a support. To a certain degree, this represents the preparedness required for one to be responsible. Finally, the monochromatic red violet with a darkly shaded base demonstrates the fixated structure. The black represents the part where the structure is connected to the ground, which effectively portrays it as a supportive structure. The colour, form and position of the structure portrays responsibility as it is a precaution and supports the creative side of me without letting it overgrow and become too drastic, which is one thing I believe was effective in my ... • 6. Differences Of Fear In Once Upon A Time By Nadine Gordimer Omphalophobia is the fear of belly buttons. Strange thing is, we are all connected through those bizarre digs in the middle of our stomachs. Everyone grew and came from the same place, cut from the same cord. A lot of times no one remembers this, and they strike out against each other, or hide from each other in fear, because of skin color or religion. Fear is something that inhabits all of us. Writhing underneath our skin just waiting to find a reason to be unleashed. This feeling can be used in different ways, bringing everyone together, or tearing people from civilization. In the same way, the written works Once Upon a Time , A Quilt of a Country and The Vietnam Wall show the contrast between these two types of fear. In the story Once Upon a Time written by Nadine Gordimer, fear is a concept that dictates the leading characters thoughts and actions. The husband and wife that are supposedly living happily ever after, have built a wall around their house to keep out the raids and the burglars that had roamed the suburbian streets they lived on at night. Fear is what led this family to destruction, killing their son and handing them misery and the knowledge that the wall they put up, didn t save them from anything. If the husband and wife hadn t listened to the wise old witch and her warning and left their house uncaged, and accessible to everyone else, their son might still be alive and unburdened by the rest of the world and the fear that controlled ... • 7. Me and You and Memento and Fargo by J.J. Murphy Structure in any form of narrative is vital, whether it be in films, books, theatre, etc. It is a frame for a story to work within. While there is a traditional method and formula to structuring a film narrative, filmmakers all over the world have experimented with breaking the norm and trying new ways to structure a film. It tested the viewer s notion of what structure is and how a narrative can be told. It was also new and something that audiences were not used to. Even now, a film that moves too far away from the traditional three act structure, is highly experimental and usually only seen in independent or student films. Act I, the screenwriter sets up the story, establishes character, launches the dramatic premise (what the story is about), illustrates the situation (the circumstances surrounding the action), and creates the relationships between the main character and the other characters who inhabit the landscape of his or her world. (Field, 2005:21) At the end of the first act there is a turning point, also known as the inciting incident , that signals the start of the second act which is what Field (2005:24) calls Confrontation . While act one and act three usually translates to about roughly a quarter of the story s length each, act two is usually half of the entire script. During this second act the main character encounters obstacle after obstacle that keeps him/her from achieving his/her dramatic need, which is defined as what the character wants to win, gain, get, or achieve during the course of the screenplay. • 8. Nacirema Culture Analysis For us to properly learn about culture, we must understand the meaning of cultural relativism and ethnocentrism. The two concepts challenge one another. Reading the article, we must pull away from our ethnocentric views and think critically about the Nacirema people s. However, the description of the culture creates an ideology that is hard to agree with. For example, the Nacirema peoples take part in a rite that involves hog hairs and magical powders. The Nacirema rituals do sound strange and displeasing but, we have to learn to recognize our ethnocentric judgments. An anthropologist will try to read and understand the Nacirema culture with the notion of being culturally relative. With this way of thinking in mind, we could study the Nacirema peoples without any judgment. If we can come to terms with our ethnocentric views, we can quickly analyze the wrong way of thinking. Therefore, we can try to understand the Nacirema culture through their shoes. If we keep looking at their cultural in a primarily ethnocentric perspective, we would not have found the similarities between the Nacirema culture and our own. ... • 9. Analysis Of The Movie Smoke Signals Smoke Signals The movie, Smoke Signals is about a young Native American man named Victor. Victor grew up on a reservation. His parents, Arnold and Arlene both liked to drink and party. Arnold and his drinking habit spiral out of control. We see Arnold smack Victor and his mother around. This occurs when alcohol is involved. One morning after a night of partying Arlene wakes up to see that her son, Victor, is outside throwing beer bottles at his fathers truck. Arlene decides to stop drinking after witnessing this. Arlene attempts to get Arnold to quit drinking but this only puts a strain on their marriage and soon Arnold leaves. Arnold left the family when Victor was 12 years old. This abrupt departure had a tremendous affect on Victor who became increasingly angry. Victor focused his anger and attention on basketball and he was able to stay out of trouble. Arlene quit drinking and assumed all responsibilities as the head of the household. Arlene and Victor live this way with no contact from Arnold. One day when Victor was 22 years old Arlene receives a phone call that Arnold had passed away. Someone needed to travel to Arizona to gather Arnold s things. Victor decides that he will travel to Arizona with the help of his friend Thomas. Thomas is more of a nerd than Victor is. • 10. Political Corruption, Inequality, And The Socially Excluded Floid Krajcovic Political Corruption, Inequality, and the Socially Excluded Everyone knows that in our current society there are large amounts of political, equality, and social gaps that occur and can be clearly seen between the wealthy and the poor when it comes to politics, equality, and being socially accepted in the United States by others. People who are affected by these issues can and will experience social and political exploitations along with political and social abuse from numerous entities (Salas, 2013). These political and social exploitations and abuses occur on a daily basis and can cause great harm to those affected by them. People that are affected by these issues are usually the targets of corrupt politicians, inequalities, and social exclusion from others and must find a way to fight back in order to gain some form of or type of social justice for themselves and those of the same social class as them. If everyone in this social class decides or chooses to keep quite or continue to keep remaining silent then social change concerning exploitations and the social abuses they face will never occur and these injustices will keep happening over and over again (Salas, 2013). However, the approach that is used in seeking that change must be respectful to and of all involved wanting and seeking the change. One way that many of these injustices or social exploitations and abuses can be changed forever is by taking our old/current political injustice system of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He loved to play games like Stare_Woofs, or really any hacking game. When he grew up... he was a hacker, a black hat one. He started out as just a script kiddy, in high school, changing his grades and charging other students to change theirs. Then he grew more and more intelligent. He learned how to hack in C++, then all forms of Java, then Lua, and eventually every programming language. By the time he was 25, he was a very skilled hacker, even attempted the white house once, almost made it when the daily system reboot threw em out. One day, he heard a knock on his apartment door while he was playing Stare_Woofs 3. At this point he was 31 years old. This is the CIA. Open up or we will arrest. • 13. The Weight Restriction For Muscle Mass During Resistance... Introduction Over the last few years, there has been an increasing weight lifting culture. Adepts of the weight lifting community have developed all sorts of theories and training regimens in order to optimise the gains in muscle mass during resistance training. Unfortunately, many methods developed by these adepts have not yet been proved to be efficient by any scientific studies. Luckily, some researchers have studied the responses of muscle protein metabolism to nutrition and exercise and have enlightened us with knowledge regarding the function and importance of certain nutrients in protein synthesis (K. Tipton Wolfe, 2001) When performing resistance training over a period of time, muscular mass can increase (hypertrophy) in response to the specific stimulus induced on the muscle fibers during the exercise. In order for the skeletal muscle to grow, net protein synthesis must occur (protein synthesis must exceed protein breakdown). Net protein synthesis is non achievable if resistance training is performed alone without the intake of certain dietary nutrients (K. Tipton Wolfe, 2001). Recent evidence has shown that an increase in circulating amino acids induced by the consumption of certain nutrients following exercise can increase the net protein balance due to stimulation of muscle protein synthesis (Tang et al., 2007). Amino acids are the basic unit of protein structure and peptide bonds link amino acids in chains that take on diverse forms and chemical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Influence Of Country Music Do you ever listen to Ave Maria on full blast while working out, or maybe listen to heavy metal when you re trying to relax? The answer is most likely no. This is because music has an unbelievable ability to set a mood, and this mood varies depending on which genre you decide to indulge in. The components we rely on to set this mood are the lyrics, variety of instruments involved, and the emotion behind the voice. While relaxing on the beach I prefer a country song like This is How We Roll by Florida Georgia Line, whereas when I workout I prefer Live from the Gutter by Future and Drake. This association is dependent on the lyrics and style of musical performance. Country music as a whole has developed from hillbilly boogie, to honky tonk, to what we commonly hear on the radio today as Nashville sound, or country pop. The honky tonk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In This is How we Roll Florida Georgia Line transitions from singing their lyrics to a country rap where the beat slows and the lyrics are sped up on a rhyme scheme. Similarly, Future took a step away from an overload of modulated bass to incorporate a piano rift instead. We as listeners use these genres of music to describe the music we like to listen to. However, the spectrum is so broad that it is important to understand what composes a specific genre. There are hundreds of sub genres included in the overall label of country or hip hop music, and the list continues to expand as artists proceed to develop new creative ideas that make it to the top of the billboards. The Reception And Influence Of Rebecca Harding Davis Among the multitudes of upper class women in the nineteenth century, struggling with their own problems, few felt the need to speak out for others, especially the lower classes. However, Rebecca Harding Davis observed the suffering of all humanity and decided to give everyone a voice through her writings. Throughout her career, Davis wrote an innumerable amount of works advocating for equal rights among all people, right up until her death in 1910. The following paper will analyze and discuss the reception and influence that Rebecca Harding Davis s works of literary realism had on the hierarchy of society, in relation to class, from the nineteenth century to the present. Furthermore, Davis s own personal experiences will also be discussed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beyond her parents, Davis was also influenced by many notable authors who showed her that everyday life and people could actually be depicted in literature. Among these notable authors, Davis particularly favored Nathaniel Hawthorne s Twice Told Tales, and the stories within this collection shocked Davis at their boldness. One of these short stories within Hawthorne s collection in particular, entitled The Ambitious Guest, was fascinating to Davis because of the horrifying ending in which everyone dies. This ending completely went against what Davis had been exposed to growing up in a society coddled by Romanticism, and she enjoyed the change. Together, these influences created a pioneer for a crucial development in literature: the transition from Romanticism to Realism. Beginning in 1830, which is, ironically, the year Davis was born, a new literature movement called Romanticism began. This movement was characterized by stories laden with sentimentality and focused on the individual. One notable example of a romanticized story would be Sir Walter Scott s Ivanhoe, in which Ivanhoe falls madly in love with Rowena and does everything in his power to win her over. This story was one of the many that Davis was exposed to growing up, and she quickly came to reject the ideals of Romanticism. Davis saw these works of literature as egotistical and melodramatic, and while she enjoyed good stories, she determined that they could not make any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Firstly, I will discuss Elizabeth s family (including her many stepmothers), and then I will talk about her relationship with her siblings under their power. Elizabeth and Edward remained very close throughout his reign, and, because they were not allowed to live in the same residence, many fond letters were exchanged between them. Soon, though, Edward became ill. He, knowing he probably would not live much longer, made a quick revision to Henry VIII s will. Mary Tudor (a catholic) was supposed to become queen at his death, but he replaced her with his cousin, Lady Jane Grey, a protestant. After Edward s death, Jane Grey was queen for ten days before the public rallied and gave their support to Mary. Jane Grey was executed and Mary was declared queen. In Western theology, three theories have emerged to demonstrate the existence of God. These theories are the ontological argument, the cosmological argument, and the teleological argument. St. Anselm of eleventh century, and Descartes of seventeenth century, have used the ontological argument for proving the existence of God. The God, for them, is supreme, quot;needing nothing outside himself, but needful for the being and well being of all things. quot; (Pg. 305). Also he gives God all kinds of perfection and because existence is one of the perfection, quot;God necessarily exists. quot; (Pg. 309). Kant s critique of Anselm s and Descartes arguments state that existence is not a perfection because all perfections are qualities, and existence is not any kind of characteristic, quality, attribute, or property. When we say that something exists, Kant argued, we quot;add nothing to quot; our concept of that thing we merely say that there is something similar to that concept. It follows that no matter how many characteristics of a thing we list; we will still not have answered the question whether there is something having all those characteristics. quot;Being is evidently not a real predicate, or a concept of something that can be added to the concept of a thing. It is merely the admission of a thing, and of certain determinations in it. quot; (Pg. 311). The Appeal And Effect Of Fantasy Essay This symposium paper will discuss one of the most distinctive features of Keith Waterhouse s narrative: the appeal and effect of fantasy, in juxtaposition with provincial realism. In the context of angry young men writers of the mid to late 1950 s. Billy Liar written by Keith Waterhouse was published in 1959. Waterhouse s work was associated with a group of novelists and dramatists such as John Braine, Alan Sillitoe and Stan Barstow who were referenced as angry young men . Notably, the writers were mostly young, working class and male, who responded to the disillusionment created by the perceived failure of post war administrations. They considered the labour government had failed to deliver an egalitarian society and allowed the continuation of an entrenched class system. The term angry young man , was originally coined in 1956, following the opening of John Osbourne s play Look Back in Anger (Hague, p.209) which depicted the play s frustrated protagonist, Jimmy Porter. This play typified a new protagonist in British culture: the white working class, or lower middle class, disillusioned young male. This new stock character is observed with Waterhouse s depiction of his protagonist, Billy Fisher. Post World War II, British fiction was witnessing the emergence of a new kind of protagonist.
