The Questionnaire And The Questionnaires And Review Of...
This study employed the survey research method, and used the technique of interviews to complement
the questionnaires and review of documentary sources. The questionnaire was structured to a five
point Likert scale, where strongly agree was assigned 1 point, agree was assigned 2 points, neutral was
assigned 3 points, disagree 4 points and strongly disagree 5 points. Descriptive study design was
adopted in conducting this research study. Descriptive research is the process of collecting data so as
to test hypotheses or in order to answer questions regarding the current status of the variables or
subjects in the study which is very useful as the respondents were given enough time to respond to the
questionnaires without any interference whatsoever or manipulation (Williams, 2007; Ary et al.,
2009). The descriptive study included survey and fact finding enquiries. This is the most preferred
research technique as it provides a more generalized outcome of the study population. Thus this
design was considered most useful for generalizing the research findings (Sindhu, 2012).
The literature used in this study was obtained from original articles retrieved from online databases,
including but not limited to the EMBASE database, the Cochrane Library and the Psych INFO. The
search for the articles was conducted by using the keywords police , policing , racial discrimination ,
police recruitments , academic grades and minority groups to make sure that the search included all

Space And Place, By Dolores Hayden
Space and place
Dolores Hayden is a poet, professor of urban studies at Yale University. Urban History, a sense of
place and the political space . On Hayden memoir, she focus on three specific area. First, she argues,
that a simple way to understand urban space is by identified cultural landmarks around us. Place needs
to be at the heart of urban landscape history , for it is essential to what makes the geography related to
the inhabitants of the city. Furthermore, Hayden believes a sense of place is developed at an early age,
therefore every human being has a unique sense of belongings. Lastly, she emphasize that each place
in the city is connected to a social or economic reason for its existence.
In my opinion, a sense of place evokes

Bose s Competitors
When building a home entertainment system, a good sound setup is absolutely essential. Although
there are many easy set up kits available, Bose is the brand to turn to for trusted quality when it comes
to speakers. With a pair of Bose Interaudio 4000 speakers, your home system is taken to the next level.
Make sure to place the speakers at a location a few feet away from the wall to get the best possible
effect. This will emulate theater systems as closely as possible. Use a Bose Interaudio 4000 speaker in
conjunction with a high quality Bose subwoofer to create a true surround sound experience. Movies
and music sound better than ever in your home entertainment room.
Bose Interaudio 4000 speakers are not typical of the brand. These are a standard pair of 2 way
speakers. Each speaker has e maximum of 100 watts and 75 watts continuous. The cabinets have a

This helped Bose attract more dealers for their products. The end consumer of the product benefit by
getting a decent speaker at an affordable price. However, because these were private label models,
they were never advertised. You also cannot find product reviews for these speakers and Bose releases
no specs for their products generally, other than power rating. Thus, it is difficult to find any
information about this line.
However, they ve remained a solid, reliable part of many home theater systems. Typically people also
add center, surrounds, and subs to fill it out. These speakers were made in USA, something that is no
longer commonplace. This makes them not only a solid addition to your home audio setup, but also an
interesting bit of vintage Americana.

I am tasked is to evaluate Company Q s current attitude toward social responsibility and recommend
three actions that Company Q could take to improve their attitude toward social responsibility. In
evaluating Company Q s attitude towards social responsibility there are a couple of examples that
displays the company s lack of social responsibility awareness. Company Q closed a couple of stores
in higher crime rate areas with a claim that the stores are consistently losing money. The issue here is
that closing these stores can create the perception that Company Q does not care about customers in
these areas. In addition, after years of their customers requesting they start offering health conscience

distribution of the donation process and the manager responsible for social responsibility initiatives

volunteer program where staff can support the food bank or soup kitchens.
The recommendations above will support Company Q in moving away from being a social
responsible inept grocery chain with one that is admired and respected in the community and is an
example of corporate citizenship. As a result, Company Q stakeholders that include the owners,
managers, employees, customers, farmers and distributors will benefit from being a part of a strong

The Rise Of Digital Banking
The Rise of Digital Banking
People s life style has changed drastically from 20 to 30 years ago where on the street corner you can
pick a fruit or some newspaper or magazine. The living pace is faster than ever and it is not stopping
every single day. Nowadays on the subway underground to air flight 10,000 feet above the ground,
pedestrians walking down the street to drives at red light stop, the small screen on that smart cellphone
has changed the way of living for everyone. Technology innovations may be a big part of it but also it
has given the wings for traditional service industry to keep up with modern lives needs. As the blood
of modern economic system, financial industry has also utilized the IT technology to help itself
running through each tubes of this system faster than ever. That is the rise of digital banking.
In the old days, people go to bank branches in order to either make a deposit or a withdrawn to their
accounts. From 14th century in Venice, Italy to 1970s in New York, United States, banking seems to
the same as it never changes. There is no other options if you don t want to have your own house full
of cash open for thieves and robbers. But with digital currency and online banking system, those days
have long gone for younger generations only with pictures shown on the history books. Starting from
1990s, growing with the boom of IT technology in Silicon Valley, digital banking has given itself a
key role of shaking up the entire banking industry as

Abstract
Social media is being used by users across various age groupsin the country in a variety of ways. They
share many things by using social media as a medium of communication. The users are accessing
social media in their mobile phones most of the time and also through many other devices and means.
Despite the presence of National and other mass media, users are attracted to social media as they
provide more opportunities for presenting their viewpoints on religion, culture, economy, politics,
entertainment, policies, education aspects of the country etc. This study will focus on how opinions
are created in the cyber space especially in social media. User Generated Content(UGC) is a really
important aspect in the creation of opinions among users in social media and also a vital part in
creating public sphere. The differentiation of modern society into various spheres, such as the capitalist
economy, the state, civil society, and the sphere of the family and intimacy, has resulted in a division
between what is considered the private sphere and the public sphere. The

Analysis Of The Book Cold Mountain
Symbolism is the idea of representing things by using symbols or devoting things with a symbolic
meaning or character. Symbolism can range from something miniscule or even something broad to
something very specific, as long as it has some connection with something else or someone else.
Charles Frazier, author of Cold Mountain, exemplifies quite a few examples of symbolism. From the
crows to the roads, and even the title itself, the novel shows show many different points of symbolism.
As the book goes on, the amount of symbolism appears, making the character and the symbolism
more understand and attention grabbing towards the reader making them not want to put the book
down. When people think crows they think annoying black birds that try to steal food from gardens,
but in Cold Mountain, it is a big part of the story, as well as a reoccurring symbol within the novel.
The reader first reads about the crows right when the book begins, when Inman was younger and in
school. When he was just a little kid in school, he was being mischievous and decided to throw his hat
out the window, but when it landed it took a shape of something. It landed far out across the
playground at the edge of the hayfield and rested there black as the shadow of a crow squatted on the
ground (Frazier 5). In this quote, it is odd that a young age he sees a crow just from a hat, but it does
show early on, that there is some sort of connection between Inman and crows. Although the first

Mixture Of Ortho And Para Nitrophenol Lab Report
During this experiment the crude product (mixture of ortho and para nitrophenols) was run through a
column chromatography. The point of the column chromatography was to separate the nitrophenols
and purify them. During the experiment the crude product was ran through the silica with two
different solvents. 60:40 DCM/hexanes was used to form the first band while 50:50 DCM/EtOAc was
used to form the second band. The reason for this method was that there had to be a change in solvent
for the para product because since it is polar it was expected to run very slowly through the column
and therefore needed a more polar solvent to speed it up, ethyl acetate. As expected two different
yellow bands were observed. Each band represented one of the nitrophenols, with the bottom band
being the ortho nitrophenol since it is less polar and stayed within the solvent and therefore ran
through the column quickly. The para product stayed at the top because it was similarly polar to the
Silica and had the ability to hydrogen bond to it. Once the bands were formed fractions were taken
from the yellow bands. Fraction 1 5 was from the ortho product and fractions 6 10 were from the para
product. The fractions formed were than ran through TLC chromatography to test the true purity of the
products and the success of the column chromatography separation. The first TLC plate containing
fractions 1 5, surprisingly did not have any spots (Figure 1b). This is was unexpected because
fractions 1 5 were

Music And Theater Education Is Important, If Not More Than...
Art allows us to see a new aspect of the world and enhance our lives so people can truly learn who
they are (Stand for the Arts). It gives us the chance to create our future, share our past and define our
dreams (Stand for the Arts 1).The arts are just as important, if not more, than other subjects like math
and english. Music and theater education correspond with greater scores in math and reading ( 11
Facts About Arts in Education ). Art can help people psychologically whether they have a mental
disorder like dementia, or not (Friedman 1). The arts allow us to channel our deep emotions onto a
canvas or staffed paper and express our dreams and hopes and maybe even accomplish our dreams.
When these deep emotions are being expressed you forget about all of your worries and stress for a
period of time which allows your brain to focus on your art and being calm. The arts don t only help
you get better scores in school and control your thoughts and stress, they also help you become more
aware of the world around you and help you grasp a better understanding of your feelings mean along
with other people s emotions (Greene et al. 2) . The 2006 Pennsylvania state teacher of the year,
Barbara Benglian, stated, Arts education gives children a place where they can express themselves and
channel negative emotion into something positive. Students are well rounded and required to be
academically healthy in all subjects to perform. To be honest, what is learned in music education is

Tetanus Is An Infection Caused By Clostridium Tetani Bacteria
Tetanus

November 22, 2016
Tetanus Tetanus is an infection caused by the Clostridium tetani bacteria, also written C. tetani. The C.
tatani bacterium is gram positive and shaped like a slender rod, once it has developed a terminal spore
it may resemble a drumstick (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2015). The actual
bacteria are heat sensitive and cannot survive when there is oxygen present, the spores on the other
hand are very heat resistant and can survive the presence of oxygen (CDC, 2015). Cases of tetanus
continue to shrink in the United States and other developed countries thanks to the availability of the
tetanus vaccination; however, in underdeveloped countries tetanus is still a major problem. Tetanus
presents with various visible signs and symptoms which may vary based on the type of tetanus. The
type of tetanus will also determine the methods used to treat the infection.
Epidemiology
Tetanus can occur anywhere in the world. You will find occurrences of this infection more frequently
in hot, damp climates with highly populated areas (CDC, 2015). The spores of the C. tetani bacterium
are found in unassuming locations such as the soil in your garden, especially if treated with animal
manure, as well as the intestines and feces of many animals, such as your favorite cat or guinea pig
(CDC, 2015). The normal mode of transmission is

Essay On Field Experience
For my Field Experience I chose to observe at Krahn Elementary which is a part of Klein Independent
School District. After my approval, I was assigned to four teachers and their classrooms. I observed at
Krahn Elementary on six Tuesdays between 15 September 2015 and 27 October 2015, and more or

8:30 am to 9:15 am I observed Ms. Judy Burkes, who is a third grade Math and Science teacher. Her
classroom is comprised of twenty students which range from average to below average learners and a
student with ADHD and another with autism. For most part of my observation, M. Burkes had been
working with her students on fractions and multiple digits addition and subtraction. From 9:15 am to
10:30 am I observed Ms. Lisa Parker who is a Math co teacher and resource teacher at Krahn
Elementary for grades K 5. During my assigned time, Ms. Parker usually joined Mr. Duru s fifth grade
class of twenty three students as a co teacher and when required would pull out a group of six students
after initial instructions from Mr. Duru and would teach them the concepts separately at a slower pace.
This particular group of students with special needs was mostly seen to be focusing more and more on
mathematical word problems. These students were students with Learning disabilities, behavioral
issues and one of them was a student with ADHD. From 10:30 am to 11:15, I was with Ms. Janice

The Conflict Between The Middle East And Christianity
The world now is facing a set of significant problems. I believe that there are three main International
threats to global stability, the rapid rise of extremism, international disputes over territories, and
corruption. Solutions to these issues facing humankind are compulsory to avoid some expected
consequence. No more than two years ago people thought of Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda
organisation if we mentioned the nightmare, extremism. Instead, nowadays the new forces of evil
would be the ISIS, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. ISIS originates from Al
Qaeda in Iraq. I think that the occur of ISIS is under expectation. It has been a long history of the

Firstly, here are some ambitious events showing that ISIS is threatening the world security and order.
On November 13th, 2015, the Islamic State killed more than 100 people at several locations in Paris.
On October 31st, 2015, 224 people died when a Russian jetliner crashes after leaving Egypt s Sinai
Peninsula, and ISIS claimed their responsibility. On March 20th, 2015, 137 death were caused by
suicide bombers attack two mosques in Yemen. Except the casualty, their violence behaviours also
aroused fear and chaos across the world. As a result, these terror attacks had changed the way of our
lives. According to Hedley Bull (1995), one of the most fundamental goals of the anarchical society is
upholding the independence of member states, maintaining peace, and helping to secure the normative
foundations of all social life, which includes the limitation of violence (Jackson, 2013). To save the
world basic human values, security, order and justice, those countries in power must weaken if not
topple these dangerous radicals from their pedestals. The United States need to start a legal battle as
the state is supposed to ensure the value of security and protect their citizens. Other than that, another
solution for the extremism is to wait until either the world vital energy is not petrol oil anymore, or the
oil resources in the middle east run out. However, it will probably take a long time for this solution. If
the United Nation is not able to get rid of the extremism in a

Golden Fleece And Revenge In Medea By Medea
Euripides Medea is a tale that hinges upon crime, punishment, and revenge. Jason, Medea s husband,
whom she helped rise to power and fame through the discovery of the Golden Fleece, has decided to
abandon his wife in favor of a woman who will benefit his social position. Medea has given up
everything to help her husband be powerful and is, of course, very angry that he betrayed her so easily.
Prior to Medea and Jason s return to Corinth, Jason s father had died, and his uncle Pelias sat, without
right, on the throne. Desperate to help her husband, Medea convinced Pelias daughters that she knew a
way to restore the old king s youth. He would have to be killed, cut into pieces, and then put together
and restored to youth by Medea s magic. The unwitting daughters did as Medea asked, but the
sorceress then explained that she couldn t really bring Pelias back to life. Unfortunately, rather than
winning Jason his throne back, this move forced Jason, Medea, and their children into exile and to
find refuge in Corinth. The action of the play begins here soon after Medea learns of Jason s deceit
and betrayal.
This epic begins with Medea s Nurse speaking of the sorrows facing Medea s family. Eventually, the
Nurse is joined by the Tutor and Medea s children, and the pain and anguish Medea is feeling from
Jason s betrayal are introduced, as well as the imminent danger her children are in. The Nurse explains
to the Tutor that she fears for everyone s safety, as she knows of the

Social Ramifications Of Obesity In America
In this research paper we will be looking at the topic of obesity and the social ramifications that it
holds. We will first look at obesity in a broad way. Then we will focus on obesity and its effects on
children. And finally, obesity and adulthood will be covered. The topic of obesity is important to the
field of sociology because obese people make up a significant portion of the world s population. In
addition, the manner in which obese people are treated has a significant effect on society as a whole.
Before going into too much detail, it is first necessary that we have a good understanding of what
exactly obesity is and its prominence in society. Obesity is understood to be a complex disease
requiring multi faceted treatment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An estimated 97 million adults in the United States are overweight or obese (Klein 2000). Affecting
one in five Americans or more than 22 percent of the U.S. population obesity is one of the most

the progression of this national epidemic (NAASO 1999). But the problem of obesity does not only

problems worldwide, said Dr. James O. Hill, president of the North American Association for the

Blue Collar Work Essay
Mishal Atiqur Due to technology advancing, the Western World has changed its industrial workforce
into more of a technological one. In this new work environment, service (white collar) workers have
become more valued than labor (blue collar) workers. Overtime, Western cultures have created an
assumption that service workers typically have higher paying salaries, higher statuses, and more
demanding positions when compared to labor workers. On the other hand, labor workers are labeled as
uneducated, unskillful, and lower in status. Because of these assumptions, people lean towards an
intellectual job rather than blue collar. Even schools now are focusing more on preparing their

Impact of Fire on the Geology of Soils Essay
Fires are an important and healthy process in many ecosystems. The lack of fires can cause new plant
communities to invade an area . The regular occurrence of fires can keep one plant community
dominate, like oak savannas. Fires can leave burnt sticks the size of trees and clumps of charcoal
where bunch grass use to grow, but not for long. An area that was burned will re grow, grasslands will
be green the next growing season and forests will typically show new growth soon after. Somewhere
in the process of a fire the soil it travels over is effected. Alterations happen immediately after a fire
passes over a soil and can continue years after a fire has gone. Soils are impacted in two main ways;
by the entering of nutrients form the brunt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The differences between the two may effect how the alterations of soil are disturbed, but both will
undergo the same general processes.
The heat of a fire has many effects on the properties of a soil. The effects are not the same for every
soil type because it depends on what is present in the soil before the fire. In my paper, I will be
exploring different types of alterations a soil may undergo as a result of a fire. The three main areas I
am going to look at are; change in color and structure, hydrophobic properties after a fire, and the
alteration in nutrient cycles, in particular nitrogen. In conjunction with what changes occur to the
properties of a soil, I will also be looking at management practices that can lessen the undesirable
changes in soil.
Effects on soil color and structure
In heating most substances, change in color and texture or structure occurs, this generally holds true in
the case of soils. A. L. Ulery and R. C. Graham (1993) did a study on how fire alters both color and
texture of soils. The color of the burned soils tended to redden in hue and have higher chromas and
values after burning, than did the unburned soil of the same type (Ulery and Graham, 1993). One
reason that the color changed is most likely due to the translocation and transformation of nutrients
and minerals in the soil. As the soil burns the heat alters individual minerals in the soil. The redder
color in the soil was caused by an

America. Many of the countries underwent violence to become independent from Spain and Portugal,
however the promise of a better way of life often fell short. One of the most significant impacts on the
people of Latin America during this time was the economic changes which occurred. Wars led to the
crumbling of political power and the breaking up of countries in respect to their resources, including
the people of the region and the assets available to them. The creation of independent countries meant
that the countries as a group could no longer trade without tariffs being levied, however it did free
them colonial taxes. During colonial rule, taxes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Countries with oceanfront land had an advantage over landlocked nations because of the use of sea
ports. The nations on the Atlantic Ocean side had an advantage over the ones on the Pacific side,
because the Panama Canal did not exist yet and shipping was much more expensive to the Pacific
coast. This too had an impact on economic life and strife between countries and regions continued.
The railroad became the symbol of progress. Railroads connected sleepy backwater regions to capital
cities and oceanic ports and, via steamship, to European ports on the other side of the ocean. The land
where people lived was often destroyed during the wars for independence, including plantations and
other areas of commerce. In turn lands used for agriculture were devastated and no longer able to
produce crops. Land was often a topic of dispute because land rights were unclear. Also, the native
people were less likely to be able to carry on their traditions and their way of life. As Chasteen states
in his book Born in Blood and Fire, the mythic gaucho no longer roved freely over a boundless
landscape, butchering semi wild cattle whenever he chose. There was an obvious imbalance between
those who had nothing and those who had much. The people became frustrated and sometimes violent,
therefore more resources were needed to deal with

History Of GLAAD
HISTORY
GLAAD was formerly known as the Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.[i] It was
founded in New York City in 1985 by Vito Russo, Jewelle Gomez and George Kolovakos.[ii]
GLAAD is a media monitoring agency that seeks to promote and protect issues affecting the
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community.
The organization was originally founded in response to the New York Post s homophobic and
defamatory coverage of the AIDS epidemic, which was at its height in the 1980 s. Initially,
AIDS was closely linked with gay men within the American psychology.[iii] The first time that
AIDS was detected in the United States was in 1981, when groups of men in New York and
Los Angeles were diagnosed with Kaposi s sarcoma and pneumocystis pneumonia.[iv] The
media had labeled it as a gay disease. Based upon the statistics compiled by the Center for
Disease Control, the AIDS virus disproportionately impacted gay men at a time when
Americans had an extremely negative attitude towards homosexuality. [I]t was perhaps
inevitable that AIDS would be defined in political and cultural terms as well as medically, and
that many heterosexuals reactions to AIDS would reflect their attitudes toward
homosexuality. [v]
Thus, the coverage of homosexuals was extremely sensationalized and a topic that was not
generally discussed as a societal norm within the mainstream media. Nonetheless, due to the
hard work of its pioneering members, GLAAD enjoyed several early

During the first week, I earned 5 dollars. I slipped up and started to bite my nails during one of my
classes. I didn t even realize I was doing it for about 5 minutes. I also slipped up another day while

Examples Of Fallacy
Pseudo reasoning A fallacy is a misleading or unsound argument based on a false or invalid reasoning
and is used as a premise to support a conclusion. Fallacies can be persuasive and be made both
accidentally and deliberately to delude others from the truth. Fallacies can be difficult to avoid if one
does not have the mind of a critical thinker. When utilizing the mechanisms of critical thinking one is
able to see through the misrepresentations of fallacies and to draw a valid, logical conclusion. This
essay aims to discuss how and why formal fallacies and substantive fallacies are used. Since a great
variety of formal and substantial fallacies exist, this essay will limit to show examples of the formal
fallacy affirming the consequent and the substantial inversion of cause and effect. A formal fallacy ...

Affirming the consequent can be derived in the form of if P then Q where P is the antecedent and the
consequent of the conditional is Q. To illustrate this, a quote from Donald Trump, candidate for
President of the United States in the 2016 presidential election, on the recent terror attack in Paris is
presented: When you look at Paris, you know, the toughest gun laws in the World, Paris, nobody had
guns but the bad guys, nobody had guns. They were just shooting them one by one... And I ll tell you
what, you can say what you want, but if they had guns, if they were allowed to carry guns, it would
have been a much much different situation By reconstructing this example as an argument with
premises and conclusion it would look like this: P1) If the victims were allowed to carry guns (P), then
the situation would have been much different (Q). P2) The victims might have survived (Q). C)
Therefore France should allow their citizens to carry guns

Movie Theatre Shooting
The topic we will be discussing in our paper is the Aurora Colorado Movie theatre shooting. First we
will go over the events that happened in that movie theatre that day. Then we will discuss the security
personal that the movie theatre had before the incident occurred. In addition we will go fourth with
discussing how the police, hospital and other emergency personals responded to the tragic event. Did
movie theatres change their way of security since this event? Then we will compare this event to
homeland security and explain their connection. The Department of Homeland Security is constantly
learning new things and changing procedures and protocols as needed to create a safe and secure
nation. This event was important because the Department of Homeland Security took into
consideration maybe their needs to be more security in movie theatres. Before this event movie
theatres were one of the last places you think a tragic shooting incident would occur.
A few questions we wish to answer by the time we finish our research on this paper are the following:
Did this event have a big enough impact on our society to initiate the change of gun laws?
Have movie theatres since this event changed security protocols or enhanced security in general?
On July 20, 2012 in Aurora, Colorado, twelve innocent people were killed and about 70 others were
injured. This shooting happened at the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises at the Century 16
movie theater in Aurora, Colorado.

Sammy s Characters In A P By John Updike
Morals are standards or beliefs that most people use for guidance in their lives and turn to when
making decisions. A person s character is composed of their set morals, so the actions many people
take are dictated by what they believe in. In the short story A P by John Updike, main character
Sammy finds himself in a situation where his authority figure took action against three teenage girls in
a way that Sammy did not believe to be right. This position was especially difficult for Sammy to be
in, due to wanting to express his own beliefs while also knowing he is not in a place of command to
request a change from his boss. While reading A P I was able to relate to Sammy on a personal level,
as I have been in a similar circumstance and felt my boss acted in ways that went against my beliefs.
Sammy and I have both exhibited impulsive acts of defiance towards higher authority figures, due to
circumstances in which we felt our integrity was being compromised in our place of work.
Sammy s strong feelings towards three girls in his store, whom he did not previously know, led him to
make a choice that affected both him and his family. Sammy believed his boss, Lengel, was in the
wrong to state the store policy of, dressing decently (378), to the three girls wearing bathing suits.
Lengel also said how the store, isn t the beach , so the girls should have their, shoulders covered (378).
Sammy felt that Lengel was rude while talking to the girls and stated that Lengel,

The Struggles And Inequalities Of Mexican Americans
In the educational setting, Mexican Americans have faced discrimination, segregation, and inequality
for many years. This paper discusses the struggles and inequalities that Mexican Americans have
faced in education. I will focus on different educational time periods and discuss the problems and
struggles that occurred in those time periods. The time periods that I give focus to include education in
the Spanish Mexican era (1519 1848), education and early Anglo rule in the Southwest (1836 1890),
the expansion of American education (1890 1960), and education in the contemporary period (1960
present). Education in the Spanish Mexican era lasted from 1519 until 1848. During this period,
education occurred in informal and formal settings and was aimed towards the Indian population, who
were Spanish subjects. Education in informal settings was the general norm and the most important
informal settings were missions, presidios, and civilian settlements. The purpose of educating the
Indians was to substitute their identity with a Spanish one and to also teach them the acceptance of
their social relegation. The way the Spanish did this was by teaching the Indians literacy, music, the
Catholic faith, Spanish manners, and by repressing their indigenous religious and social beliefs
(Kloosterman 2). Education and the early Anglo rule in the Southwest lasted from 1836 until 1890.
From 1836 to about 1850, formal education took place in schools that were founded by the Catholic
Church.

According to Karl Fabricius, in the article The Ancient Art of Glassblowing, he states that the glass
needs to be melted at a temperature of 2,200 degrees fahrenheit, which is equivalent to the
temperature of lava; when wanting to gather glass a four to five foot blowpipe is put into the furnace
(para.3). Homer L. Hoyt states that gathering is used to control the molten glass onto the blowpipe
(43). When dipping the blowpipe into the melted glass the pipe needs to be turned until a decent sized
blob is on the end, states Fabricius (para.4). After doing this the glass should be taken to be rolled on a
steel table to smooth and give shape to the glass (para. 5). Hoyt states that fusing is the process of
joining glass during the molten state (43). Drawing is when the glass is being pulled to a smaller
diameter (43). When wanting to make a flower tooling is used to shape the glass into a form with a
tool (43). To remove residual stresses in the glass after it has been worked the process of annealing is
used (43). It is very common to blow through the pipe when wanting to make a vase/vessel. When
doing this a small bubble should form inside the hot glass but if the artist blows too much air the glass
can become too thin according to Fabricius (para.6). Also once blown different colors can be added

The researchers examined five different states waiver programs for assisted living care. Those states
include: Arkansas, New Jersey, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. They compared eligibility to qualify
Medicaid programs like the Elderly Waiver, between the states. The main form of qualification for
Medicaid programs is Social Security. According to Carlson, Coffey, Fecondo, and Newcomer (2010),
the income limit to be eligible for Social Security in 2008 was $637 a month, and assets could not
exceed $2,000. Another main point of the article, Medicaid Funding for Assisted Living Care: A Five

This creates a process that is easy to carry out for the nurses and social workers working for these
facilities. Carlson et. al (2010), state that one of these requirements for all five states is that applicants

THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMPUTER FROM 1980 TO 2014
The history of computer development is often referred to in reference to the different generations of
figuring out/ calculating devices. A generation refers to the state of improvement in the product
development process. This term is also used in the different advancements of new computer
technology. With each new generation, the circuitry has gotten smaller and more advanced than the
previous generation before it. As a result of the making something much smaller, speed, power, and
computer memory have proportionally increased. New discoveries are constantly being developed that
affect the way we live, work and play. Each generation of computers is seen as the major
technological development that basically changed the way computers operate, resulting in more and
more smaller, cheaper, powerful, efficient and reliable devices
As for now, there are four generations of computer which is first generation, second generation, third
generation, and fourth generation. The first generation begins from year 1940 to 1956 using vacuum
tube. For the second generation was from year 1956 to 1963 using transistor. Later integrated circuit
was produced in the year 1965 to 1971. By the year 1971 until present the microprocessors is being
used.
Microprocessor is a miniature electronic device that contains math, logic and control circuitry needed
to function as a digital computers CPU. Microprocessors are integrated circuits (Ic) that can

Comprehensive Preparation For A Complete Life
Comprehensive Preparation for a Complete Life
Teen pregnancy has been a serious social issue for quite a while. Often, a teen pregnancy is
detrimental for both the teen and the child involved. Both a teen mother and her child are more
susceptible to complications during the pregnancy and birth than and adult mother and her child.
Unfortunately, a teen mother and her infant are also less likely to pursue and receive healthcare to
alleviate these health risks (Teen Pregnancy). Moreover, teen pregnancy is often cited as a factor that
perpetuates the cycle of poverty, since teen mothers are likely to be poor in the first place, and their
children are likely to grow up to be poor (Teen Pregnancy). While there is no argument that teens
should be educated to prevent teen pregnancy, there is a debate on how it should be done. Currently,
there are two forms of education focused on reducing teen pregnancies: abstinence only education and
comprehensive sex education with birth control. However, sex education and birth control are clearly
the superior option, due to its effectiveness and the futility of abstinence only education.
Comprehensive sex education with an emphasis on birth control is a much more effective educational
tool to prevent teen pregnancy than abstinence only education. Fortunately, teen pregnancy rates have
fallen dramatically in the past 20 years. In 2002, the rate of pregnancy was 75.4 for every 1,000
women between the ages of 15 and 19, from 116.9 in 1990 (Teen

Memes and Life
We have three replicators 1. Genes 2. Memes 3. Fremes (I have called them that).
These three replicators are selfish in that they contiuously try to replicate.
In the book by Susan Blackmore, it is mentioned that the reason why we cannot stop thinking is
because there are too many memes in our memory that can find their place in the brain. Hence, we
continuously keep on thinking, but at the cost of higher energy requirements. Indeed, thinking utilizes
more brain power which in turn requires more oxygen for which more blood flow is required. Hence,
in a nutshell, the more we think the more energy we consume and the more the genetically weaker our
genes become as we are wasting more energy. What we see here that these ... Show more content on

Hence, let us see how ideally we should be able to control these memes.
We need to control the gene replication. For this, the simple idea is not to produce offsprings. Simple.
We need to control the meme replication. For this, we need to try to stop thinking. Difficult, but
practice makes us perfect, or so they say.
We need to control freme replication. For this, let me take you on this concept of a time machine. The
photon clock example. Yes. As our speed increases, the value of the time decreases. This is all
hypothetical and yes, impossible too. Later, I will explain why. Nevertheless, the analogy is
interesting. We are saying that the longer the time the lesser number of ticks and hence smaller the
value of time. This way. So the longer the time, the more the control as you could possibly do things
more dexterously. So in order to control fremes, we need to decrease the meme activity and increase
the freme activity, i.e. decrease the value of time as frequency = 1/ Time.
So, what do we collect from all this?
In order to reach a higher state we should ideally be away from the greed of
This is what the ideal life of a saint is explained in the Jain text. Indeed, there are various levels of
spirituality explained in Jainism. You should not have a family, go to an isolated place where you do
not have anyone telling you things or you telling them things. And then, concentrate and meditate
continuously to

Zeus Role In Greek Society
Throughout Greek myths, Zeus plays a highly important role because he is the king of the gods,
involved in many mortals lives, and continually effects these mortals lives. This effect mirrors many
norms within Ancient Greek society which was highly focused on male figures who dictated the
decisions of families and individuals and their choices were often not questioned or change by others.
This presents a difference from many aspects of modern society, and at times, this difference shocks
modern audiences interacting with Greek myth. Specifically, one can find actions and characteristics
of the god Zeus by examining his role in the myths of the Rape of Persephone, Io, and Heracles that
would shock modern audiences.
A well known myth involving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This myth details the capture of Persephone, the daughter of Demeter and Zeus, by the god Hades, the
brother of Zeus. Three specific details about this myth are of interest when examining the character of
Zeus. First, the traditional Greek version of this myth uses verbiage meaning the violent seizing and
carrying off of someone or something to describe Hades taking Persephone (DeBloois, 1997). This
detail becomes important in the context of the actions taken by Zeus throughout the myth. Hades is
given Zeus s permission to create a trap to distract and capture Persephone (Morford, 2013, p. 339
340). Zeus allows for this in order to appease Hades, assumedly because Hades is confined to the
Underworld. This does demonstrate a peacemaker aspect of Zeus s character, specifically a
peacemaker among the gods. The second detail from this myth that further supports this characteristic
of Zeus is his actions after Persephone has been captured. Zeus ignores Persephone s cries for help as
Hades is taking her to the Underworld (Morford, 2013, p. 340). Ignoring her cries reinforces this
peacemaker idea because he does not act against Hades or take back his previous approval, despite the
audible cries from his daughter. These actions, despite being

  • 2. The Questionnaire And The Questionnaires And Review Of... This study employed the survey research method, and used the technique of interviews to complement the questionnaires and review of documentary sources. The questionnaire was structured to a five point Likert scale, where strongly agree was assigned 1 point, agree was assigned 2 points, neutral was assigned 3 points, disagree 4 points and strongly disagree 5 points. Descriptive study design was adopted in conducting this research study. Descriptive research is the process of collecting data so as to test hypotheses or in order to answer questions regarding the current status of the variables or subjects in the study which is very useful as the respondents were given enough time to respond to the questionnaires without any interference whatsoever or manipulation (Williams, 2007; Ary et al., 2009). The descriptive study included survey and fact finding enquiries. This is the most preferred research technique as it provides a more generalized outcome of the study population. Thus this design was considered most useful for generalizing the research findings (Sindhu, 2012). The literature used in this study was obtained from original articles retrieved from online databases, including but not limited to the EMBASE database, the Cochrane Library and the Psych INFO. The search for the articles was conducted by using the keywords police , policing , racial discrimination , police recruitments , academic grades and minority groups to make sure that the search included all ... On Hayden memoir, she focus on three specific area. First, she argues, that a simple way to understand urban space is by identified cultural landmarks around us. Place needs to be at the heart of urban landscape history , for it is essential to what makes the geography related to the inhabitants of the city. • 8. Analysis Of The Book Cold Mountain Symbolism is the idea of representing things by using symbols or devoting things with a symbolic meaning or character. Symbolism can range from something miniscule or even something broad to something very specific, as long as it has some connection with something else or someone else. Charles Frazier, author of Cold Mountain, exemplifies quite a few examples of symbolism. From the crows to the roads, and even the title itself, the novel shows show many different points of symbolism. As the book goes on, the amount of symbolism appears, making the character and the symbolism more understand and attention grabbing towards the reader making them not want to put the book down. When people think crows they think annoying black birds that try to steal food from gardens, but in Cold Mountain, it is a big part of the story, as well as a reoccurring symbol within the novel. The reader first reads about the crows right when the book begins, when Inman was younger and in school. When he was just a little kid in school, he was being mischievous and decided to throw his hat out the window, but when it landed it took a shape of something. It landed far out across the playground at the edge of the hayfield and rested there black as the shadow of a crow squatted on the ground (Frazier 5). The point of the column chromatography was to separate the nitrophenols and purify them. During the experiment the crude product was ran through the silica with two different solvents. 60:40 DCM/hexanes was used to form the first band while 50:50 DCM/EtOAc was used to form the second band. The reason for this method was that there had to be a change in solvent for the para product because since it is polar it was expected to run very slowly through the column and therefore needed a more polar solvent to speed it up, ethyl acetate. As expected two different yellow bands were observed. Each band represented one of the nitrophenols, with the bottom band being the ortho nitrophenol since it is less polar and stayed within the solvent and therefore ran through the column quickly. The para product stayed at the top because it was similarly polar to the Silica and had the ability to hydrogen bond to it. Once the bands were formed fractions were taken from the yellow bands. Fraction 1 5 was from the ortho product and fractions 6 10 were from the para product. The fractions formed were than ran through TLC chromatography to test the true purity of the products and the success of the column chromatography separation. Champion Georgia Northwestern Technical College Introductory Microbiology Curtis Wright November 22, 2016 Tetanus Tetanus is an infection caused by the Clostridium tetani bacteria, also written C. tetani. The C. tatani bacterium is gram positive and shaped like a slender rod, once it has developed a terminal spore it may resemble a drumstick (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2015). The actual bacteria are heat sensitive and cannot survive when there is oxygen present, the spores on the other hand are very heat resistant and can survive the presence of oxygen (CDC, 2015). Cases of tetanus continue to shrink in the United States and other developed countries thanks to the availability of the tetanus vaccination; however, in underdeveloped countries tetanus is still a major problem. Tetanus presents with various visible signs and symptoms which may vary based on the type of tetanus. The type of tetanus will also determine the methods used to treat the infection. Epidemiology Tetanus can occur anywhere in the world. You will find occurrences of this infection more frequently in hot, damp climates with highly populated areas (CDC, 2015). The spores of the C. tetani bacterium are found in unassuming locations such as the soil in your garden, especially if treated with animal manure, as well as the intestines and feces of many animals, such as your favorite cat or guinea pig (CDC, 2015). Jason, Medea s husband, whom she helped rise to power and fame through the discovery of the Golden Fleece, has decided to abandon his wife in favor of a woman who will benefit his social position. Medea has given up everything to help her husband be powerful and is, of course, very angry that he betrayed her so easily. Prior to Medea and Jason s return to Corinth, Jason s father had died, and his uncle Pelias sat, without right, on the throne. Desperate to help her husband, Medea convinced Pelias daughters that she knew a way to restore the old king s youth. He would have to be killed, cut into pieces, and then put together and restored to youth by Medea s magic. The unwitting daughters did as Medea asked, but the sorceress then explained that she couldn t really bring Pelias back to life. Unfortunately, rather than winning Jason his throne back, this move forced Jason, Medea, and their children into exile and to find refuge in Corinth. The action of the play begins here soon after Medea learns of Jason s deceit and betrayal. This epic begins with Medea s Nurse speaking of the sorrows facing Medea s family. Eventually, the Nurse is joined by the Tutor and Medea s children, and the pain and anguish Medea is feeling from Jason s betrayal are introduced, as well as the imminent danger her children are in. The heat of a fire has many effects on the properties of a soil. The effects are not the same for every soil type because it depends on what is present in the soil before the fire. In my paper, I will be exploring different types of alterations a soil may undergo as a result of a fire. The three main areas I am going to look at are; change in color and structure, hydrophobic properties after a fire, and the alteration in nutrient cycles, in particular nitrogen. In conjunction with what changes occur to the properties of a soil, I will also be looking at management practices that can lessen the undesirable changes in soil. Effects on soil color and structure In heating most substances, change in color and texture or structure occurs, this generally holds true in the case of soils. A. L. Ulery and R. C. Graham (1993) did a study on how fire alters both color and texture of soils. The color of the burned soils tended to redden in hue and have higher chromas and values after burning, than did the unburned soil of the same type (Ulery and Graham, 1993). One reason that the color changed is most likely due to the translocation and transformation of nutrients and minerals in the soil. As the soil burns the heat alters individual minerals in the soil. History Of GLAAD HISTORY GLAAD was formerly known as the Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.[i] It was founded in New York City in 1985 by Vito Russo, Jewelle Gomez and George Kolovakos.[ii] GLAAD is a media monitoring agency that seeks to promote and protect issues affecting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community. The organization was originally founded in response to the New York Post s homophobic and defamatory coverage of the AIDS epidemic, which was at its height in the 1980 s. Initially, AIDS was closely linked with gay men within the American psychology.[iii] The first time that AIDS was detected in the United States was in 1981, when groups of men in New York and Los Angeles were diagnosed with Kaposi s sarcoma and pneumocystis pneumonia.[iv] The media had labeled it as a gay disease. Based upon the statistics compiled by the Center for Disease Control, the AIDS virus disproportionately impacted gay men at a time when Americans had an extremely negative attitude towards homosexuality. This paper discusses the struggles and inequalities that Mexican Americans have faced in education. I will focus on different educational time periods and discuss the problems and struggles that occurred in those time periods. The time periods that I give focus to include education in the Spanish Mexican era (1519 1848), education and early Anglo rule in the Southwest (1836 1890), the expansion of American education (1890 1960), and education in the contemporary period (1960 present). Education in the Spanish Mexican era lasted from 1519 until 1848. During this period, education occurred in informal and formal settings and was aimed towards the Indian population, who were Spanish subjects. Education in informal settings was the general norm and the most important informal settings were missions, presidios, and civilian settlements. The purpose of educating the Indians was to substitute their identity with a Spanish one and to also teach them the acceptance of their social relegation. The way the Spanish did this was by teaching the Indians literacy, music, the Catholic faith, Spanish manners, and by repressing their indigenous religious and social beliefs (Kloosterman 2). Education and the early Anglo rule in the Southwest lasted from 1836 until 1890. From 1836 to about 1850, formal education took place in schools that were founded by the Catholic Church. ... • 46. Comprehensive Preparation For A Complete Life Comprehensive Preparation for a Complete Life Teen pregnancy has been a serious social issue for quite a while. Often, a teen pregnancy is detrimental for both the teen and the child involved. Both a teen mother and her child are more susceptible to complications during the pregnancy and birth than and adult mother and her child. Unfortunately, a teen mother and her infant are also less likely to pursue and receive healthcare to alleviate these health risks (Teen Pregnancy). Moreover, teen pregnancy is often cited as a factor that perpetuates the cycle of poverty, since teen mothers are likely to be poor in the first place, and their children are likely to grow up to be poor (Teen Pregnancy). While there is no argument that teens should be educated to prevent teen pregnancy, there is a debate on how it should be done. Currently, there are two forms of education focused on reducing teen pregnancies: abstinence only education and comprehensive sex education with birth control. However, sex education and birth control are clearly the superior option, due to its effectiveness and the futility of abstinence only education. Comprehensive sex education with an emphasis on birth control is a much more effective educational tool to prevent teen pregnancy than abstinence only education. Fortunately, teen pregnancy rates have fallen dramatically in the past 20 years. In the book by Susan Blackmore, it is mentioned that the reason why we cannot stop thinking is because there are too many memes in our memory that can find their place in the brain. Hence, we continuously keep on thinking, but at the cost of higher energy requirements. Indeed, thinking utilizes more brain power which in turn requires more oxygen for which more blood flow is required. Hence, in a nutshell, the more we think the more energy we consume and the more the genetically weaker our genes become as we are wasting more energy. What we see here that these ... This effect mirrors many norms within Ancient Greek society which was highly focused on male figures who dictated the decisions of families and individuals and their choices were often not questioned or change by others.
