Ethics And The Separation Of Law And Morals
Law and morality work together to guide our behavior; while law does it by punishing us if we
do something wrong, morality does it through incentives. In their articles, both H.L.A Hart in
Positivism and the Separation of Law and Morals, and Lon Fuller s reply to professor Hart in
Positivism and Fidelity to Law, discuss the concept of law post world war II Germany and their
re imagining of natural law as put forth by Gustav Radbruch s theory. In this paper, I hope to
show how both law and morality is needed to create just rules, more specifically drawing from the
grudge informer case mentioned in Hart s article. First, I will explain the dilemma of the grudge
informer case and the contradicting theory laid down by Radbrunch s.... Show more content on

Her defense was that she acted according to the law of that time and had not committed any
crime. Hart agrees with her defense, saying that we should now applaud ourselves for punishing
her for her immoral actions because she adhered to the laws of her time, and was at that time not
doing anything wrong. Contradicting his view is Radbrunch s, who argued that extreme injustice
is no law, meaning that a particular social standard can lose its legal validity when it is extremely
unjust. Hart, a legal positivist, believes that law is law, and argued against Radbrunch s theory in
servings as a solution to fix Germany s judicial system. He argued against his theory and wanted a
separation of law and morality because he thought that it would only cloak the true nature of the
problems, and encourage a romantic optimism, rather than addressing the dilemma that the courts
had in deciding on convicting Nazi criminals. Though Hart acknowledges that this case poses a
difficult situation for the law, he does propose his own solution to the problem. With his positivist
approach to the law, saying that the laws are the rules expected of us, and enforced at a particular
time, he proposes that the grudge informer should be punished through a different and new set of
laws. These laws he deems retrospective laws, would entail punishing acts such as revenge and
duplicity. However, this dilemma between choosing if the grudge informer was innocent

The Lord Of The Flies Critical Analysis
Literature doesn t necessarily have to fit it into the reader s life, novels like Fahrenheit 451 or
1984 lack major connections to teenage life, but are still taught in school, a book should teach a
lesson or give food for thought, this book does. The Lord of the Flies is a novel that has become
a mainstay in high school literature for decades, some detractors of this book believe that, since it
has nothing to do with high school teens, its main audience, it should be removed from public
schools. However, the Lord of the Flies acts as a social experiment, allowing for discussion of the
way rules control our interactions in society. In addition to this, the book shouldn t be removed
from school since it also teaches how young people are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, those with darker intentions like Roger, will act and follow through on their
darkest desires once there s nothing there to stop them. This holds true to how teens interact with
laws in society, like deciding to listen to a rule or not, a rule being an obstacle in the way of
someone s plans, or a law that is viewed as the best for society.
The book should be maintained as a standard in the classroom because it discusses the topics of
innocence, bystanderism, and vulnerability. Out of ignorance, in the pouring rain and lightning, The
clan of boys savagely beat Simon to death. They had thought he was the mythical beast on the
island. Many excuses were made, but one to point out is Piggy s, That s right we was on the
outside, we never seen nothing (Golding 158) he exclaimed, after the topic of Simon s death
arose. Bystanding while bad things happen to others is a common theme, a belief that if you
ignore it, it ll go away, like how the boys decide if they deny they were at the scene of Simon s
death, it ll make feel slightly less responsible for it, although they were all part of it. They try to
deny their loss of innocence, and make them

Discretionary Accruals Model
Literature Review of Discretionary Accrual Models Chenxi Lin 01/03/2015 Literature Review of
Discretionary Accruals Models Audit quality is crucial for financial statements users and efficient
capital markets. However, how to measure audit quality properly has been a controversial issue,
because quality is not observable. With no uniform definition of audit quality, prior researchers
developed various audit quality proxies. Earning quality is one of the most commonly used
measure for audit quality. Client discretionary accruals, meet or beat earnings target, and
likelihood of restatement are all under this category. Among those, discretionary accruals are the
most widely used, because it is positively related to earnings management, which reflects audit
quality. The purpose of this review is to summarize the most commonly used models to measure
discretionary accruals by previous literature, and to help future studies to choose from these
models when they are used as audit quality proxies. Among all the research papers, there are two
main methods to calculate discretionary accruals: change dependent variables to accruals model
(e.g., Jones Model, Modified Jones Model, and McNichols Model) and performance adjustment
measure (Kothari, Leone, and Wasley, 2005). The most frequently cited model of discretionary
accruals model is Jones (1991) Model. The estimation of the discretionary accruals was used as the
measure of earnings management. Jones (1991) measured the total

The Impacts of September 11, 2001 on the Aviation...
Abstract This paper discusses the impacts of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the
aviation industry. Specifically, how aviation industry members were forced to alter their
marketing mix in response to the events. The four P s of marketing were all modified. The
airlines had to change their product (route structures) and their prices. They also had to change
their promotion tactics to ease the customer s fear factor . Lastly they had to alter the means of
delivering their product to the consumer due to enhance security measures (place). September 11,
2001 will always be considered a turning point in the history of America. The events of 11

Cooperation within alliances poses several challenges to managers: the size of the alliance, the need
to intensify cooperation and the harmonization and standardization of common processes, and the
search for synergies to reduce costs. However, in times of crisis, alliances do not necessarily
prevent stiff competition between the partners. At present, five alliances В– One World, Star,
Wings, Sky Team and Qualiflyer stand out as the core groupings around which other airlines with
strong regional networks will come together to form worldwide networks and can be described as
global alliances. But they remain fragile creations subject to competing attractions and economic
forces. Over the years, several companies have switched from one alliance to another. Austrian
Airlines, for example, moved from the Qualiflyer to the Star alliance. Air France has recently
floated the idea of creating a Mediterranean alliance with Alitalia and Iberia. To make this three
way deal possible, Iberia would have to leave the OneWorld alliance. Airlines took the various short
term measures that have been described above, but few changed their long term strategies. The
network carriers did cut out some unprofitable routes, and reduced frequencies on others. The 11

History on the War on Drugs Essay

October 26, 2010
History of the War on Drugs The war on drugs has been an ongoing fight that many presidents and
foreign allegiances have tried to stop the trafficking, distribution and use of illegal drugs into the
United States and around the world. Policy and laws have been created and maintained and
changed to try and prevent illegal drugs being made in other countries as well as the United States
and from being brought across the borders into the United States. The punishment for the drug
traffickers and users has been an issue with the campaign to stop illegal drug use and trafficking.
Through the United States history the president s and their administration have been focusing on
how to deal with the war on drugs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) was initiated in schools all over the United States in
1983 to inform students about the effects drugs cause and to make children and their parents
more aware of the drug problem in the U.S. (Frontline). Under Reagan, the federal prison
population doubled. Young offenders and non violent drug users were sent to Special Alternative
Incarceration boot camps, where they were brainwashed with yet more anti drug propaganda, to
undermine their subversive attitudes. The President declared the War on Drugs to be one of the
major achievements of his administration, while the international narcotics trade thrived and
cannabis prices sky rocketed. Then in July 1984, the Washington Times published a story about
DEA informant Barry Seal s infiltration of the Medellin cartel s operation in Panama. The story
showed that Nicaraguan Sandinistas were involved in the drug trade. As a result of Seal s
evidence, a Miami federal grand jury indicts Carlos Lehder, Pablo Escobar, Jorge Ochoa and Jose
Gonzalo Rodriguez Gacha. In February 1986, Seal is killed in Baton Rouge, LA., by a gunmen
hired by the cartel (The Washington Times). For the first time Colombiaextradites the drug

which included embassy members and their families, U.S. businessmen and journalists (NPR).

United Airlines 811
On February 24th, 1989 United Airlines 811 (UA811) took off from Honolulu International
Airport, Hawaii (HNL) for a regularly scheduled 8 hour flight to Auckland, New Zealand. The
routine flight aboard the Boeing 747 122 had left Los Angeles, California enroute to Sydney,
Australia, but made a scheduled intermediate stop in Honolulu and would make one more in
Auckland (NTSB, 1992, p. 1). UA811 departed Gate 10, at HNL, 3 minutes late with 3 flight
crew, 15 flight attendants and 337 passengers onboard (NTSB, 1992, p. 1). The flight took place
in the aftermath of Lockerby and additional boarding procedures were in place adding to an
extended passenger boarding process. The second officer noted that all cabin and cargo door
lights were out prior to departing the gate (NTSB, 1992, p. 2). The captain was at the controls
for the takeoff from HNL runway 8R at 0152:49 HST (NTSB, 1992, p. 2). The flightcrew
reported the airplane s operation to be normal during the take off and during the initial and
intermediate segments of the climb (NTSB, 1992, p. 2). Due to thunderstorms enroute the
flightcrew elected to deviate left of course and the captain left the passenger seat belt sign on .

educated on what to look for when completing their inspection. This would not have prevented the
accident, but would have been a first step in making more flight crew, support and maintenance
personnel aware of the

St. Augustine The Human Condition
The major theme, The Human Condition , focused on the difference between the body and the soul
as well as their dualism, the soul being of three types: the nutritive soul, the sensitive soul, and the
intellectual soul. Through the readings of St. Augustine s The Confessions, Augustine leads the
audience to the idea that we are all individuals, but there is something common in our human
experience as he shares and examines the journey of his soul in order for the audience to reflect
upon this and see in his story the journey of our own soul. One story told by Augustine is referred
to as the Pear Tree. In this story, Augustine and a friend steal an unripe pear from a pear tree next

The next Harlequin image is again inverted and can be seen to the right of the previous
Harlequin. He is identifiable from his patchwork costume and triangular hat and appears to be
kneeling on the ground as if watching the puppet show taking place opposite. Death: The
preoccupying theme of Guernica is of course death; reinforcing this, in the centre of the painting
is a hidden skull which dominates the viewer s subliminal impressions. The skull is shown
sideways and has been ingeniously overlaid onto the body of the horse, which is also a death
symbol. The skull s mechanical appearance seems appropriate to the modern weaponry used in
the 1937 bombing. Picasso often hid one or more related symbols within a particular image as
seen here. Below the dying horse in the centre of the painting is a concealed bull s head
contained in the outline of the horse s buckled front leg. Its location infers that that it is plunging
its horns into the horse s belly from below... the goring of the horse in the bullfight was a

Adaptations Are Much More Than A Mere Visual Illustration
Contrary to the general public s belief, adaptations are much more than a mere visual illustration
of a novel. When adapting a literary work, the screenwriter s integrity towards the author is
highly crucial to prevent a disagreement, which could lead to a copyright infringement. This will
also ensure the audience s approval because the screenplay s plot is less likely to deviate from the
author s fundamental storyline in the original work. Furthermore, adapting a literary work into a
screenplay consist of a very rigorous filtering process that is often challenging for the screenwriter.
The screenwriter often faces dilemmas in which the decisions to omit or heighten certain aspects
could either ensure the movie s success or its failure.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the movie, although it is clear that Gordie is far more reliable than his
friends, it is made apparent that he has quite a significant amount of personal growth to acquire.
In the start of the movie, Gordie Lachance is a timid twelve year old aspiring writer struggling
with psychological abuse from his father, low self esteem and emotional abuse by Ace the town
bully. Furthermore, due to the recent tragic death of his elder brother, Gordie is unable to
mourn this loss and overcome his personal regrets, such as his lack of desire to follow in his
brother s footsteps. Thus, he remains pessimistic about his aspirations, and substantially allows
his own dreams of becoming a writer to fester. However, the trials that he faces throughout the
journey, after taking the decision to ignore his father s authority, allows him to overcome the
harsh pessimistic views that he has of himself. Towards the end of the movie, there is a
noticeable growth that can be seen in Gordie s personality. Gordie finally realizes that solely he
can control his own destiny and as he begins to process his newly gained optimism, he is able to
gain courage and maturity, which conveys a clear sense of progress in the protagonist s personal
journey. Thus, allowing him to stand up to Ace and his gang, disregard his oppressive father s
judgments, encourage his friends to make better life decisions, which consequently

Next, a heavy weight was placed on the preservation of evidence. In this case, Riley had his
cellular device, which after the fact proved to have tremendous information; however, it was still
searched without a warrant. Therefore, with a warrant, the justices believed that the evidence on
the cellular device would have still been preserved, and the chain of evidence would have been
intact. The consideration was heard on vulnerabilities on remote wiping on cell phones. It was
explained that someone from the outside can wipe the contents of the phone, and all potential
evidence would be lost. After hearing all information, and looking into other similar cases, it was

Then the justices compared this to current cellular devices, according to a poll that was available to
the court at the time, more the seventy five percent of smartphone users were within a five foot
radius of their phone almost all the time. Shockingly, it was even noted that more than ten percent
use their cell phone in the shower; this example was pertinent in showcasing just how important
these devices are, as well as the information within them (Riley, n.d.). So, since these devices have
the software to track and reconstruct someone s whereabouts, download extensive personal
information, manage applications (apps) that include sensitive personal information, the court
determined that without a warrant the scope of an individual s privacy was at significant risk, and
that cell phones needed to be treated with greater scrutiny, due to significant technological
advances, which justified the Supreme Court to unanimously revere the California Court of
Appeals decision, and require a warrant for the search and seizure of cellular phones, and the data
stored within (Riley, n.d.). Concurring Opinion: A concurring opinion was delivered by Supreme
Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., and he stated that he had doubted that a search without a warrant
after an arrest to only protect the officer, or even to protect evidence was not enough to substantiate
this act without a warrant. He further explained that in relation to privacy standards, the majority

The Time Machine, And The Machine Stops By. Forster
Projections that have been made about how today s society and culture will look in the coming
years, decades, and centuries, all have yet to be seen in how valid they are. If you look in any
sort of media: television, social media, or radio/music, you will see people giving their
interpretations of what will become of our world down the road. Yet, few people look to see how
our the current state of culture and society reflect the projections made by people in previous years,
decades, and centuries. In looking at the visions of the future presented by both novelas, The Time
Machineby H.G. Wells, and The Machine Stopsby E.M. Forster, each story presents aspects of
society that prominently appear today. Written during the Industrial Revolution, a time where
technology and humaninnovation was at one of its highest points in recent history, both stories
explore the possible effects of the machinery that was becoming evermore present. Both authors
present aspects such as omnipotent technology, decaying human independence, and destruction of
real communication, to create the artistic statement that complacency is rising within the human
race, and that complacency will eventually lead to the fall of mankind. In both stories, the authors
speak against human complacency and deference to technology, warning that it will lead to the
creation of weaker people and society that will ultimately destroy the human race, yet that
complacency is present in today s culture and due to the

Farmer Power 25.The most important product of the five proximate factors of an agricultural
society is epidemic diseases. Epidemics evolve in areas with large amounts of varying wild flora

Diamond argues that necessity is not the mother of invention, rather invention is the mother of
necessity. Something does not get invented for a need, rather when it is invented; people find
ways to use it. Edison s invention of the phonograph was not used for what Edison intended it to

invention for a specific need and people wouldn t have decided the need for it. 63.The ability to

Marlowe And Jarman Essay
Kenesha Lewis
Homework 4: Marlowe and Jarman, Edward ii
. React to the review by focusing on whether Jarman is faithful to Marlowe s play
Christopher Marlowe is known to be one of the best historical playwrights in his and even my time.
Most of his works were in fact historically true. In his most famous play Edward II, he not only
brought into question the corruption within the royal household, but also Edward II act of sodomy,
which leads him to neglect his nation. Although Derek Jarman s who is an English film director,
artist, writer, and political activist, adopted Marlowe s play and tried to convey to the audience
the reason for Edwards II downfall, Rakshita Patel, a writer for Vada Magazine did not do the film
justice in her review ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Edward II invited Gaveston to share the kingdom with him we already questioned his ability
to rule. He made it seem as if the kingdom was nothing but a possession to be had as if it s not
made up of people he has sworn to serve as their leader. The film was faithful to the text in the way
it expressed Edward s II and Gaveston s love for each other. However, the film did make it seem as
if the reason for the tragedy was because the share same sex love, which most people were not
accepting of, but the most famous had their favorites. Basically, it came down to Edward having
to choose between Love and power, since je had the power he abused it in the name of love.
The politics in the film and review were both different and underlying. The film s focus on politics
was very good because I can see it related to today s society and will be in the future also. I
definitely agree with Patel s review on the political part of the film when she said I would say that
Edward II was an excellent example of political and LGBT activism and has plenty to say to today s
audiences, 20 years after it was originally released. It remains as relevant today as when Jarman
made the film and when Marlowe wrote the play.
Although Patel, like Jarman was a LGBT activist, her review of the film Edward II, made it seem
as if the sole reason for the tragedy was because of his love for Gaveston, rather than the neglect of

Russian Negotiation Report Essay
Russian Negotiation Report (Director of the Archives)
1. What, in general, did you learn about negotiation from the simulation? What surprised you? What
would you do differently?
The pub was chosen to be the place to meet. It was meant to be a friendly place with drinks so
that barriers would be broken. Of course, given it was just a simulation and we actually knew
each other as friends, I m guessing the real world scenario would be slightly different, or at least
the effect of choosing a friendly place would have different impact than I would imagine. That
being said, I did notice that in an environment with a lot of background noise (I remember a

I didn t care much about whether the money comes directly from Pipeline or from the Russian
Government internally. All I cared about was scaling the $10 service I demanded to at least
$3,000,000, given we had from 300,000 to 400,000 tapes in the archive.
It s also worth mentioning that I had a secondary strategy that didn t work very well. I planned to
come up with believable intangible demands that will hopefully make Pipeline uncomfortable to
the point that they are willing to remove some of these demands in exchange for raising the
service fees or the money paid to the Russian Government in general. One example of these
believable intangible demands was: Printing the Russian Archive Institution s logo on the cover of
every CD published. Nice, right!? The bad news to this dirty trick was that this was a complete
simulation. These intangible demands didn t mean anything to our fellow simulators, and they
simply agreed to every single demand with out any hesitation. I really wonder if this plan would
really work in real life negotiations.

The Theories Of Eating Disorders
Most people have tried various diets to lose weight or wished for our body shape to change. For
most people, diets will only work for the short term and as we age we tend to put on more
weight. For individuals who are fixated on losing weight or changing their body shape; can lead
to an eating disorder. Eating disorders (ED) have been defined as syndromes characterised by
significant disturbances in eating behaviour and by distress or excessive concern about body shape
or weight. Eating disorders that are most common are anorexia nervosa(AN) and bulimia nervosa
(BN). AN involves behaviours that keeps an individual as thin as possible ; one characteristics is
to be underweight. To be diagnosed with AN, an individual must be 15% below... Show more

A dysfunction family was defined as the characteristics of anorexic families as being enmeshed,
overprotective, rigid and conflict avoidant (Minuchin et al (1978). This has led to family
therapists suggesting that adolescents may develop an ED to gain independence in their family
life and hope that it will unite their family instead of conflict. Oppenheimer et al (1985) has
suggested that the onset of an ED may be as a result of sexual abuse in an individual s past. This
model suggests that an ED develops as a result of a woman rejecting her new body shape in
puberty, as she attempts to avoid the feminine shape. Although, sexual abuse for the onset of an
ED doesn t have strong evidence; although sexual abuse been disclosed by many sufferers. In
conclusion, this essay has looked at research for the onset of an ED from a biological, socio
cultural and psychological viewpoint. The evidence available, even though it is not conclusive,
suggests that an ED can be triggered in several ways. An ED may be triggered by only biological;
but could be triggered by the other two variables of socio cultural and

Mobile Adhoc Network ( Manet ) Essay
Abstract: Mobile AdHoc Network (MANET) is a wireless network with a set of mobile nodes that
can communicate with each other with no access point and without any fixed infrastructure. But
mobile devices usually have limited resources (battery power, memory, CPU) which limit their
transmission range. Hence, in order to conserve the limited resource, it is highly desirable that
transmission should be as efficient as possible. MANET can be implemented in any environment
because of its dynamic nature. For routingof information packets queuing is done at the buffer and
transferred through intermediate nodes to the destination on priority basis which help to improve
the overall network performance. This paper provides a review of various buffer management
schemes for packet queues in MANET.
Index Terms: MANET, Buffer, Packet Queue.
INTRODUCTION
Mobile ad hoc network is dynamic network topology without any central network for control. All
the nodes in the network participate in networking functions like routing and packet forwarding as
per the requirement. Nodes which are in direct contact with each other communicate with single
hop and those which are not in range takes multiple hops through intermediate nodes to reach
destination
Fig 1: Mobile Ad Hoc Network
Fig.1 shows that source and destination nodes are not in range so packets are routed through
intermediate nodes.
Even though MANET networks provides many advantages like scalability, flexibility, robustness,

Financial Assistance Program For Health Coverage
Mrs. Jones, like many older adults, is on a fixed income, has Medicare for health coverage, but
lacks prescription drug coverage. She was recently prescribed a new medication by her
physician, which she cannot afford. As Mrs. Jones nurse, it is my responsibility to advocate for
her by providing education and sharing information on the multiple different avenues available to
decrease the cost of the medication prescribed. I will identify three strategies in which I can help
Mrs. Jones afford her medication. First, I will provide education on her insurance plan and explain
Medicare Drug Plans and their enrollment process. Secondly, I will identify a financial assistance
program which she might qualify for. Finally, I will identify different ways to lower the cost of the
medication such as coupons, drug discount cards, switching to a generic medication, and store
programs ( Prescription Drug, 2014). All of these options are a solution to Mrs. Jones problem. In
the meantime, it may be beneficial to obtain free samples from the physician s office if possible,
but this only makes sense if there is a strong likelihood that she will eventually be able to afford the
new medication.
First, I must assess Mrs. Jones understanding of her insurance plan. Is she even aware that she
doesn t have prescription drug coverage? According to Cohen and Villarroel (2015), approximately
one fifth (18%) of the $263 billion spent on retail prescription drugs in the United States in 2012

Hometown Morning By Thomas Kinkade
In 2000, Thomas Kinkade, the Painter of Light, created Hometown Morning, which is an oil
painting on canvas. This painting is part of the Hometown Memories collection as he paints
different scenes from his childhood growing up. Hometown Morning is a painting of a street in
Placerville, California that is full of life. It is a small community with people walking down the
sidewalk and everyone and everything just seems peaceful. Since the original has been sold, the last
location of the paintingwas at The Thomas Kinkade Museum in Monterey, California. The use of
melancholic colors are shown as it is a dim setting as the sun begins to rise over the city street.
However, the only vibrant colorused throughout the piece is a bright gold yellowto illuminate the
insides of the homes through the windows. Kinkade s use of complementary colors are visible
throughout. Different shades of yellow and blue are seen as there is yellow in the sky and also
blue on the street. There are more cold colors than warm colors since the setting is in the
morning and during the winter after it has rained. The people are dressed in winter clothes and
some even have scarves on. Kinkade uses directional line to direct our attention to what is going
on as our eyes go down the street. There is not an actual diagonal line that makes the road smaller,
but the use of grass and the sidewalks does the trick. The people in the foreground are headed
down the street leading the viewer s eyes head the same

Catherine de Medici and Obsession Over Power Essay
Catherine de Medici and Obsession Over Power An execrable woman whose memory will
remain in bloody crepe until the end of time[1] . For nearly 400 years this assessment of
Catherine de Medici held true. In the popular imagination she is a Machiavellian schemer using
poison on those who hindered her in her quest to gain and maintain power at court, a view of
Catherine reinforced in recent years by the film La Reine Margot, based on the book by Dumas.
Most traditionalist historians take their information on Catherine from pamphlets such as Discours
Merveilleuse de la Vie, Actions et Deportment de Catherine de Medicis, Royne Mere[2]. Claiming
to be a strictly factual account of Catherine de... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main revisionist historian to write in English is NM Sutherland. Her works are a clear attempt
to rehabilitate Catherine and remove the stigma the Black Legend has left associated with
Catherine s name. She suggests that far from Catherine being triumphant at her own political
dexterity when assuming the regency for Charles IX upon the death of Francis II, she viewed the
future with apprehension [6]. Other revisionist historians include Dame Francis Yates who
interprets Catherine s many volte face as being less and example of Machiavellian scheming and
more of an example of how Catherine was, in reality a politique who put the well being of the state
before personal religious convictions. This position meant Catherine was unable to comprehend the
religious fanaticism which swept France during the era in which she was regent and thus made the
solving of the problem significantly more difficult. Other revisionists concentrate on her
maternalism with Heritier[7] substantiating this opinion with references to the proportion of
Catherine s letters that are addressed to Jean d HumiГѓВЁre, the royal children s governess. The
revisionist view generally sees Catherine as being someone who desired peace and stability for her
sons kingdom. The blame for the failure of the crown to solve the religious political problems in this

Research Paper On Wine Cocktails
From Sangria to mimosas, wine cocktails make great party starters. And why not? Wines like
Cabernet Sauvignon take on the rich taste of the oak barrels in which they re stored. Champagnes
bring us the taste of the champagne region of France. And that doesn t even begin to cover the
great local wines you can use as your cocktails base. If you re planning a party and need some
recipes for winecocktails, I ve got you covered. The following recipes count as some of my go to
recipes when it s time to get the party started.
Simple Champagne Cocktail
Here s some trivia for you.
What s the difference between Champagne and sparkling wine?
If you said that Champagne comes from Champagne, France, you d be right. The sparkling wine
that we know of as Champagne is called that because it s named after the region where it s made. If
the drink is not made in Champagne, then it s just sparkling wine.
Got it? Good.
If you re fortunate enough to have Champagne that s a real celebration, right? then use that as your
base. Otherwise, sparkling wine will do. Here s how you make this simple sparkling wine cocktail.
Ingredients:
5 oz. Champagne or sparkling wine 1 sugar cube A dash of bitters Champagne flute
Instructions:
Drop the sugar cube into the glass. Add drops of bitters to the sugar cube. Slowly, pour champagne
into the glass and then serve. It s not necessary to stir this drink.

The Most Valuable Lessons Learned In Leadership
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned in a leadership role?
Leadership roles have taught me many things throughout my primary school education. I have had
a few leadership roles throughout my education including New Tech Ambassadors and National
Honors Society. The most valuable lessons I have learned include that of patience, persistence, and
austerity. I have learned that people need you to continue and press them and continue to help and
lead; to be persistent in your leadership helps those who follow you. Leadership has taught me to
have patience. Though, not to be lax. You must still be persistent. Lastly, to be respected as a leader
it is best to be stern but still approachable. An austere presence helps lead the best teams throughout

Challenges Associated With Biodiversity Loss For 21st...
DISCUSS THE CHALLENGES ASSOCIATED WITH BIODIVERSITY LOSS FOR 21ST
CENTURY CONSERVATION BIOLOGISTS AND SOCIETY AS A WHOLE
Although sustainable development has been at the forefront of international agenda for many
years, we continue to focus on the growth of the economy without worrying about the impact on
the environment. Currently, our ecological footprint (the area in hectares that we require to
provide us with the ecological goods and services we use) is far exceeding our biocapacity (the
actual land available to provide these services); with the human population requiring over 1.5
earths to sustain the amount of resources we use each year (WWF, 2014). As the growth of the
human population shows no sign of slowing down, with predictions there will be a further 2.4
billion people on the planet by 2050 (WWF, 2014), the pressures we exert on the planet will only
increase. This overuse of resources is not only making it difficult to support our needs, but is also
leaving little space and resources left for all the other species around the globe to thrive, and more
importantly, survive. This has led to a decline in biodiversity at a much faster than would be seen
under natural circumstances.
According to the Living Planet Index (LPI); which measures the trends in 10,380 populations of
3,038 species of fish, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds; biodiversity has been decreasing
rapidly, with records showing a 52% reduction in the size of these populations from 1970 2010

it will as well bring joy to many children out there. I can start by maintaining a 4.0 GPA and
practicing on my artistic skills. Computer Animation applicants should possess artistic skill,
traditional art classes are recommended prior to entering the program (Full Sail University,

Opera Buffa Social Structure
Mozart composed three Italian opera buffa Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Cosi fan tutte
with Lorenzo Da Ponte s libretto. In the eighteenth century, the advent of Enlightenment in Europe
changed the hierarchical social structure in European society. It brought great change to the women
s lifestyle by allowing noblewomen to have equal power to men and to voice themselves. Also,
peasant women changed their lifestyle by being treated more equally as men who were at the same
social level. Mozart brought this social phenomenon to the operasince opera buffareflected how
common people interacted with nobles and how men have started to respect women s opinions.

The maid views love as a power dynamic that requires women to offset their socially established
disadvantage with cleverness. Despina believes that women learn to be unfaithful because men are
that way .
Despina, a lower class woman, believes women and men should be equally treated. It shows that in
the era, women have an awareness of being equal to men. Also, I found that a maid s subordinate
position was raised in the eighteenth century. When the Revolution occurred, the mainstream social
class was lower class. If Despina was not just a character but an actual woman, she definitely would
have participated in the revolution.
Mozart s Opera buffa reflects the cultural and historical materials in the eighteenth century and
shows the life of common people. In the eighteenth century, the Enlightenment aroused throughout
Europe and this idea aimed for the general progress of humanity. The world was broken from the
aristocratic society to the lower class. Public opinion promoted equality over hierarchy. Women
took part in the revolution, and they improved their status in their family and society. They
demanded a proper education thus literacy highly increased. With these influences, Soubrette
characters in Mozart s opera buffa: Susanna, Zerlina and Despina have a mysterious power from the
Enlightenment. He maintains the characters in the same class and he did not break the social
structure. However, he presents equality between women and men. Women

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Systemic Lupus
Have you ever stopped to think about how your body is protected from various illnesses and
infections? The human body has an amazing network of cells, tissues and organs to do just that.
This network is called the immune system. But what if that very system that was designed to
protect your body attacked healthy cells by mistake? Autoimmune disorders are diseases in which
the body s immune systemattacks healthy cells (Curtis 278). One such disease is called Lupus.
Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disorder that affects the
connective tissues resulting in pervasive damage to multiple organs. Striking mostly women of
childbearing age, this profound disease is estimated to affect at least 5 million people worldwide
(Lupus Facts and Statistics). Currently there is no cure for SLE, however, modern sciences have
developed numerous treatments (La Paglia 551 561).
SLE is a chronic disease which can often be disabling (Auerbach and Beckerman 269 278). Lupus
predominantly affects the heart, kidneys, lungs, brain, blood vessels, joints and skin. Symptoms
such as painful joints, sore muscles, cognitive issues, fever, Raynaud s phenomenon,
photosensitivity, and rashes tend to be the most common ( Lupus. , Arthritis 67 68). SLE is
characterized by persistent remissions and exacerbations. Exacerbations tend to be more prominent
in the Spring and Summer, possibly due to an increase in sun exposure. Due to the chronic
inflammatory nature

Ten Good And Bad Things About My Life
Ten Good and Bad things about my Life (so far) Ten Good and Bad Things about my Life (so
far), by Ann M. Martin, is about a fifth grade girl who has a report she has to write about her
summer. Pearl Littlefield is a young girl who just entered the fifth grade and on the very first day
she is having trouble with an assignment. Pearl flashes back to the end of fourth grade recalling
how she would have a wonderful summer. Yet, Pearl s summer is not all peachy as she thought.
Pearl encounters a few difficulties to get through and realizes that whenever one door closes another
door opens.

The Freudian Regression theory states that Psychological repression, is the psychological attempt
made by an individual to repel one s own desires and impulses toward pleasurable instincts by
excluding the desire from one s consciousness and holding or subduing it in the unconscious .
Sigmund Freud believed that In order to face problems in life, the ego employs defense
mechanisms. These mechanisms function unconsciously to keep away unpleasant feelings.
Repression was the first defense mechanism that Freud discovered and is thought to be the most
important. Repression is one of the unconscious mechanisms employed by the ego to avoid a
disturbing thought from being conscious. Normally the thoughts that are repressed are those of
guilt. Freud believed that repression could sometimes have two stages which had to do with the
aspects of personality ego and super ego and the individual s sense of good and bad . The first stage
of Repression which is called Primary Repression is realizing and determining what is good and
what is bad The Second stage of repression starts to take place when a person notices that acting
on some desires could cause anxiety. Repression is seen in The Story of an Hour and in The
Yellow Wallpaper in different ways. We can see that in The Yellow Wallpaper Jane is a depressed

Analyzing and Interpreting Data
The ultimate goal of descriptive statistics is to describe a set of data, identify patterns, and draw a
conclusion, which enables an organization to make effective and informed decisions (McClave,
Benson, Sincich, 2011). The company, Ballard Integrated Managed Services (BIMS), a support
services company will leverage statistics to gather information on the company s employees to
analyze and identify patterns. The goal of this research project is to determine the reason for the
high employee turnover and low morale. The research team has developed a strategy that ensures

Second, questions one through ten qualify as ordinal data because of the relative rankings without
consistent distances. Finally, the time worked for BIMS qualifies as ratio level data because it is
easily ordered, consistent differences and zero is meaningful (McClave, Benson, Sincich, 2011).
Each level of data has unique characteristics, which dictate the way the information is calculated,
summarized, and presented.
Coding and Cleaning the Data
Coding the data is a systematic way in which data is condensed into smaller easily analyzed units
(Lockyer, 2004). By coding the surveys received by BIMs it enables the company to analyze and
interpret the data to draw an informed conclusion. The coding enables the research team to
identify mistakes, and outliers, which improves the data s validity (Lockyer, 2004). To code
BIMS data, the surveys must be numbered, and all corresponding data must be manually entered
into Microsoft Excel, which increases the cost, time, and risk. The data is at risk of being entered
incorrectly. Next, the raw data must be cleaned to ensure validity, relevancy, and accuracy. After
the data was imported into Excel, the data must be reviewed for mistakes. One error that was
identified was that a six was entered into Excel even though a five was observed. By coding and
cleaning the data, the researcher will proactively identify errors or outliers while enabling a
computer to complete statistical analysis and

Taking a Look at Cochlear Implants
Sometimes people forget that eyesight and hearing are not something that everybody has. There
are some people in the world that are living without one or both of these senses. In some
circumstances, these two senses are able to be given to somebody who hasn t had them before.
There are many different procedures and ways for a person to either gain their eyesight or hearing
again, for the first time in their life. In terms of hearing, there is a procedure that is booming
popularity all over the world. Along with having the surgery, the patient then wears a device called
a cochlear implant. Cochlear Implants are changing the world of hearing so that people who
receive them are able to gain hearing ability to sounds around them. This partially unknown
medical procedure is gaining more attention around the world with its high success rates and its
ability to change peoples lives forever. According to the National Institute on Deafness and
Other Communication Disorders Website, a cochlear implant is defined as a small, complex
electronic device that can help provide a sense of sound to someone who is profoundly deaf or
severely hard of hearing. The first cochlear implant demonstration was in Paris in the 1950 s done
by AndrГ© Djourno and Charles EryiГ©s. Records say that it took over 50 years of discovering
and making these devices until one succeeded. Once they had built one that worked, Djourno and
EryiГ©s conducted their first operation by putting a gold wire

Frankenstein vs. Bladerunner
As society changes around us, we spot things we never noticed before: high divorce rates, murder
rates, and drug use just to name a few. James Riddley Scott and Mary Shelley noticed and had a
fear of child abandonment. In Frankenstein, Shelley explores this subject through the viewpoint of
a man, Victor, who creates a child so hideous that he cannot bear to look at it, and consequently
deserts it. In Blade Runner Scott explores this matter through a businessman, Tyrell, who makes
replicants of humans, the Nexus 6, gives them only four years to live, and sells them as slaves. The
children of these creators turn out to be smarter and more human than expected, and revolt against

shows us is significant because it portrays his anger toward his creator, who has neglected him
since his conception. The created beings in these tales become smarter than expected, and soon
realize that they have been mistreated. VictorВЃfs monster is smart enough to understand that he
has been discarded, and children that have been abandoned can easily become devilish in nature.
The monster pleads again and again with his audience that he was born good, but compelled by
others to do evil. He even argues that if only one person would have been nice to him, he would
have changed his ways when he says, ВЃgIf any being felt emotions of benevolence towards me, I
should return them an hundred and an hundredfold; for that one creatures sake, I would make peace
with the whole kind!ВЃh (105). The monster is put in a place that makes him angry with all of
society, and this makes him put very little value on human life. Likewise, the Nexus 6 have little
regard for the humans that have made them slaves. Human life to these robot like creatures is
nothing, because human society has put such little emotional value on the replicants as a race. The

Abrahamic Religions In The Middle Ages
The Middle Ages were not a period of inactivity but rather a time of enormous intellectual energy
and creative vitality (McKay 393).
Christianity and Judaism are both Abrahamic religions; which means their origins can be traced
back to Abraham, the first of three biblical patriarchs. Christianity began as a radical messianic
movement (Cohen 17) within Judaism. Christianity was inspired by Jesus of Nazareth; a Jew, they
believed was divinely sent to be the savior of mankind. That belief was a taken as a threat to the
Roman government and Jewish leaders; specifically Jewish leaders because their authority was
already limited and suppressed significantly by the Roman government. It took nearly three
centuries for Christianity to go from

Comparison Of Anne Of The Green Gables
To begin with, the primary aim of this research paper is to investigate the similarities of Lucy
Maud Montgomery with the main protagonist of her book, Anne of Green Gables. This will be
accomplished by looking back at the early life of the author, her childhood, and the hardships
that she had overcame. Also, several works that had interpreted and analyzed Montgomery s life
had a substantial contribution to this research paper. The novel Anne of the Green Gables was
written by Lucy Maud Montgomery in the year 1908. In particular, the Anne of the Green Gables
was held as a children s novel. The story followed the life and journey of Anne Shirley, an 11 year

Walt Whitman s Influence On Transcendentalism
Transcendentalism was a literary and philosophical movement that rejected materialism and the
idea that religion is necessary to help humans achieve a spiritual experience. Transcendentalism

philosophy was very popular and its main influence was on American religion, philosophy, politics,
literature, and art. (Janet Mullane and Robert Thomas Wilson) This philosophy allowed people
such as Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Margaret Fuller, and Walt Whitman, Theodore Parker,
William Ellery Channing, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Herman Melville, Emily Dickinson, and Edgar

Nlp in English Language Teaching
ABSTRACTii
The purpose of this presentation is to determine the use of NLP in language teaching. In this study,
in the first part, some background information was given about what Neuro Linguistic
programming (NLP) is, and whether NLP was used in language teaching before. To put forward
whether NLP is effective in language teaching, general questions related to NLP are to be asked to
language teachers in questionnaires and interviews. The collected data were analyzed in tables and
graphics by using numerical system. According to the findings, the hypothesis and the results were

Here are the key features of NLP:
В•NLP is about recognizing patterns.
В•NLP is concerned with process rather than content.
В•NLP provides a model of how we communicate with ourselves and others. (Darn, 2005:1)
The name Neurolinguistic Programming might lead one to expect that it is based on the science of
Neurolinguistic and that it also draws on behaviorist theories of learning. However, in NLP neuro
refers to beliefs about the brain and how it functions: the literature on NLP does not refer to theory
and research in neurolinguistics. Linguistic has nothing to do with linguistics but refers to a theory

Achilles, Aeneas, and Roland
Imagine living in a turbulent world, where people lived their day to day lives praying that they
would see the next sunrise. That was life for villagers that lived during the times of the ancient
Greeks and Romans, as well as during the medieval period when Germanic tribes ruled Europe. To
help them get through their very insecure days, people would tell oral stories of great heroes, like
those of Achilles, Aeneas, and Roland. Achilles was a Greek war hero who fights in the Trojan War
,
a ten year long war between Greece and Troy(present day Turkey). Aeneas was an epic hero in
ancient Roman folklore. He was a soldier who fought in the Trojan War and after surviving the

sent on a holy war to stop the Muslims from invading and converting France. He was a noble

story, it is said that he died while he was chasing away the pagans. To this day, in the 21st
century, homo sapiens still write stories about heroes that will save them and society. The
number one characteristic that describes a hero is one that has a Stoic sense of duty that can
overcome the desire for personal fulfillment. Achilles, Aeneas, and Roland were all created to
create personal comfort for their people that lived in such a hectic and dangerous world. These
three protagonists who were viewed by their cultures as gods also showed their people that they
did portray human characterists (two out of the three even die) and that anyone can be like them if
they tried. In a way they were used to inspire their respective residents to be better civilians in their
community. If everyone could follow that, than living in a turbulent world would go from reality to

First I will show a picture for everyone. Does everyone know this five people?
This five people are Chinese teachers. They came to the UK using Chinese traditional ways to
teach UK students. And take exam to compare with British education way which education
methods are better. About the result when I finish the Presentation I will tell everybody. In this
Presentation I will focus on 3 parts, first parts is basic system second parts is teaching methodology
third parts is subject
Let s go to the first parts, in the first part I will give three sections class size, timetable, and after
class. As you can see the first picture is Chinese class, In China one class often have 50 students
however in UK class students is less than the China. There are often have 30 students in each class.
It means that in China teacher cannot pay attention to the each student like student s feedback but
in UK teacher can do it.
Now I d like to show you timetable for school day. You can clearly find that the first table is longer
than the second table because in China students have 8 classes in everyday but in UK they only
have 6classes. Chinese teacher assume that when student at school long time, it can make student
improve their learning efficiency. However they neglect the student can feel so tired because they
often stay at school more than 9hours everyday. Direct regulation British students are relaxed. After

  • 2. Ethics And The Separation Of Law And Morals Law and morality work together to guide our behavior; while law does it by punishing us if we do something wrong, morality does it through incentives. In their articles, both H.L.A Hart in Positivism and the Separation of Law and Morals, and Lon Fuller s reply to professor Hart in Positivism and Fidelity to Law, discuss the concept of law post world war II Germany and their re imagining of natural law as put forth by Gustav Radbruch s theory. In this paper, I hope to show how both law and morality is needed to create just rules, more specifically drawing from the grudge informer case mentioned in Hart s article. First, I will explain the dilemma of the grudge informer case and the contradicting theory laid down by Radbrunch s.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her defense was that she acted according to the law of that time and had not committed any crime. Hart agrees with her defense, saying that we should now applaud ourselves for punishing her for her immoral actions because she adhered to the laws of her time, and was at that time not doing anything wrong. Contradicting his view is Radbrunch s, who argued that extreme injustice is no law, meaning that a particular social standard can lose its legal validity when it is extremely unjust. Hart, a legal positivist, believes that law is law, and argued against Radbrunch s theory in servings as a solution to fix Germany s judicial system. He argued against his theory and wanted a separation of law and morality because he thought that it would only cloak the true nature of the problems, and encourage a romantic optimism, rather than addressing the dilemma that the courts had in deciding on convicting Nazi criminals. Though Hart acknowledges that this case poses a difficult situation for the law, he does propose his own solution to the problem. With his positivist approach to the law, saying that the laws are the rules expected of us, and enforced at a particular time, he proposes that the grudge informer should be punished through a different and new set of laws. These laws he deems retrospective laws, would entail punishing acts such as revenge and duplicity. However, this dilemma between choosing if the grudge informer was innocent ... • 3. The Lord Of The Flies Critical Analysis Literature doesn t necessarily have to fit it into the reader s life, novels like Fahrenheit 451 or 1984 lack major connections to teenage life, but are still taught in school, a book should teach a lesson or give food for thought, this book does. The Lord of the Flies is a novel that has become a mainstay in high school literature for decades, some detractors of this book believe that, since it has nothing to do with high school teens, its main audience, it should be removed from public schools. However, the Lord of the Flies acts as a social experiment, allowing for discussion of the way rules control our interactions in society. In addition to this, the book shouldn t be removed from school since it also teaches how young people are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, those with darker intentions like Roger, will act and follow through on their darkest desires once there s nothing there to stop them. This holds true to how teens interact with laws in society, like deciding to listen to a rule or not, a rule being an obstacle in the way of someone s plans, or a law that is viewed as the best for society. The book should be maintained as a standard in the classroom because it discusses the topics of innocence, bystanderism, and vulnerability. Out of ignorance, in the pouring rain and lightning, The clan of boys savagely beat Simon to death. They had thought he was the mythical beast on the island. Many excuses were made, but one to point out is Piggy s, That s right we was on the outside, we never seen nothing (Golding 158) he exclaimed, after the topic of Simon s death arose. Bystanding while bad things happen to others is a common theme, a belief that if you ignore it, it ll go away, like how the boys decide if they deny they were at the scene of Simon s death, it ll make feel slightly less responsible for it, although they were all part of it. Discretionary Accruals Model Literature Review of Discretionary Accrual Models Chenxi Lin 01/03/2015 Literature Review of Discretionary Accruals Models Audit quality is crucial for financial statements users and efficient capital markets. However, how to measure audit quality properly has been a controversial issue, because quality is not observable. With no uniform definition of audit quality, prior researchers developed various audit quality proxies. Earning quality is one of the most commonly used measure for audit quality. Client discretionary accruals, meet or beat earnings target, and likelihood of restatement are all under this category. Among those, discretionary accruals are the most widely used, because it is positively related to earnings management, which reflects audit quality. The purpose of this review is to summarize the most commonly used models to measure discretionary accruals by previous literature, and to help future studies to choose from these models when they are used as audit quality proxies. Among all the research papers, there are two main methods to calculate discretionary accruals: change dependent variables to accruals model (e.g., Jones Model, Modified Jones Model, and McNichols Model) and performance adjustment measure (Kothari, Leone, and Wasley, 2005). The most frequently cited model of discretionary accruals model is Jones (1991) Model. The estimation of the discretionary accruals was used as the measure of earnings management. Cooperation within alliances poses several challenges to managers: the size of the alliance, the need to intensify cooperation and the harmonization and standardization of common processes, and the search for synergies to reduce costs. However, in times of crisis, alliances do not necessarily prevent stiff competition between the partners. At present, five alliances В– One World, Star, Wings, Sky Team and Qualiflyer stand out as the core groupings around which other airlines with strong regional networks will come together to form worldwide networks and can be described as global alliances. But they remain fragile creations subject to competing attractions and economic forces. Over the years, several companies have switched from one alliance to another. Austrian Airlines, for example, moved from the Qualiflyer to the Star alliance. Air France has recently floated the idea of creating a Mediterranean alliance with Alitalia and Iberia. To make this three way deal possible, Iberia would have to leave the OneWorld alliance. Airlines took the various short term measures that have been described above, but few changed their long term strategies. The network carriers did cut out some unprofitable routes, and reduced frequencies on others. The 11 September ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Young offenders and non violent drug users were sent to Special Alternative Incarceration boot camps, where they were brainwashed with yet more anti drug propaganda, to undermine their subversive attitudes. The President declared the War on Drugs to be one of the major achievements of his administration, while the international narcotics trade thrived and cannabis prices sky rocketed. Then in July 1984, the Washington Times published a story about DEA informant Barry Seal s infiltration of the Medellin cartel s operation in Panama. When adapting a literary work, the screenwriter s integrity towards the author is highly crucial to prevent a disagreement, which could lead to a copyright infringement. This will also ensure the audience s approval because the screenplay s plot is less likely to deviate from the author s fundamental storyline in the original work. Furthermore, due to the recent tragic death of his elder brother, Gordie is unable to mourn this loss and overcome his personal regrets, such as his lack of desire to follow in his brother s footsteps. Thus, he remains pessimistic about his aspirations, and substantially allows his own dreams of becoming a writer to fester. However, the trials that he faces throughout the journey, after taking the decision to ignore his father s authority, allows him to overcome the harsh pessimistic views that he has of himself. Towards the end of the movie, there is a noticeable growth that can be seen in Gordie s personality. Gordie finally realizes that solely he can control his own destiny and as he begins to process his newly gained optimism, he is able to gain courage and maturity, which conveys a clear sense of progress in the protagonist s personal journey. • 12. Logic Case Study Next, a heavy weight was placed on the preservation of evidence. In this case, Riley had his cellular device, which after the fact proved to have tremendous information; however, it was still searched without a warrant. Therefore, with a warrant, the justices believed that the evidence on the cellular device would have still been preserved, and the chain of evidence would have been intact. The consideration was heard on vulnerabilities on remote wiping on cell phones. Then the justices compared this to current cellular devices, according to a poll that was available to the court at the time, more the seventy five percent of smartphone users were within a five foot radius of their phone almost all the time. Shockingly, it was even noted that more than ten percent use their cell phone in the shower; this example was pertinent in showcasing just how important these devices are, as well as the information within them (Riley, n.d.). So, since these devices have the software to track and reconstruct someone s whereabouts, download extensive personal information, manage applications (apps) that include sensitive personal information, the court determined that without a warrant the scope of an individual s privacy was at significant risk, and that cell phones needed to be treated with greater scrutiny, due to significant technological advances, which justified the Supreme Court to unanimously revere the California Court of Appeals decision, and require a warrant for the search and seizure of cellular phones, and the data stored within (Riley, n.d.). Concurring Opinion: A concurring opinion was delivered by Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., and he stated that he had doubted that a search without a warrant after an arrest to only protect the officer, or even to protect evidence was not enough to substantiate this act without a warrant. In looking at the visions of the future presented by both novelas, The Time Machineby H.G. Wells, and The Machine Stopsby E.M. Forster, each story presents aspects of society that prominently appear today. Written during the Industrial Revolution, a time where technology and humaninnovation was at one of its highest points in recent history, both stories explore the possible effects of the machinery that was becoming evermore present. Both authors present aspects such as omnipotent technology, decaying human independence, and destruction of real communication, to create the artistic statement that complacency is rising within the human race, and that complacency will eventually lead to the fall of mankind. In both stories, the authors speak against human complacency and deference to technology, warning that it will lead to the creation of weaker people and society that will ultimately destroy the human race, yet that complacency is present in today s culture and due to the ... All inventors had predecessors and successor. JD thinks that it is much easier borrow from previous technologies originating in different places than to start from scratch each time. React to the review by focusing on whether Jarman is faithful to Marlowe s play Christopher Marlowe is known to be one of the best historical playwrights in his and even my time. Most of his works were in fact historically true. In his most famous play Edward II, he not only brought into question the corruption within the royal household, but also Edward II act of sodomy, which leads him to neglect his nation. Although Derek Jarman s who is an English film director, artist, writer, and political activist, adopted Marlowe s play and tried to convey to the audience the reason for Edwards II downfall, Rakshita Patel, a writer for Vada Magazine did not do the film justice in her review ... He made it seem as if the kingdom was nothing but a possession to be had as if it s not made up of people he has sworn to serve as their leader. The film was faithful to the text in the way it expressed Edward s II and Gaveston s love for each other. However, the film did make it seem as if the reason for the tragedy was because the share same sex love, which most people were not accepting of, but the most famous had their favorites. Basically, it came down to Edward having to choose between Love and power, since je had the power he abused it in the name of love. The politics in the film and review were both different and underlying. The film s focus on politics was very good because I can see it related to today s society and will be in the future also. I definitely agree with Patel s review on the political part of the film when she said I would say that Edward II was an excellent example of political and LGBT activism and has plenty to say to today s audiences, 20 years after it was originally released. It remains as relevant today as when Jarman made the film and when Marlowe wrote the play. Although Patel, like Jarman was a LGBT activist, her review of the film Edward II, made it seem as if the sole reason for the tragedy was because of his love for Gaveston, rather than the neglect of his ... What would you do differently? The pub was chosen to be the place to meet. It was meant to be a friendly place with drinks so that barriers would be broken. Of course, given it was just a simulation and we actually knew each other as friends, I m guessing the real world scenario would be slightly different, or at least the effect of choosing a friendly place would have different impact than I would imagine. That being said, I did notice that in an environment with a lot of background noise (I remember a basketball game was on), people tend to speak loudly, which leads them to ... It s also worth mentioning that I had a secondary strategy that didn t work very well. I planned to come up with believable intangible demands that will hopefully make Pipeline uncomfortable to the point that they are willing to remove some of these demands in exchange for raising the service fees or the money paid to the Russian Government in general. One example of these believable intangible demands was: Printing the Russian Archive Institution s logo on the cover of every CD published. Nice, right!? The bad news to this dirty trick was that this was a complete simulation. These intangible demands didn t mean anything to our fellow simulators, and they simply agreed to every single demand with out any hesitation. I really wonder if this plan would really work in real life negotiations. 3. How did the concepts of process, power (structural and/or personal), interests, and/or mutual gains, etc. actually occur in the simulation? • 20. Mobile Adhoc Network ( Manet ) Essay Abstract: Mobile AdHoc Network (MANET) is a wireless network with a set of mobile nodes that can communicate with each other with no access point and without any fixed infrastructure. But mobile devices usually have limited resources (battery power, memory, CPU) which limit their transmission range. Hence, in order to conserve the limited resource, it is highly desirable that transmission should be as efficient as possible. MANET can be implemented in any environment because of its dynamic nature. For routingof information packets queuing is done at the buffer and transferred through intermediate nodes to the destination on priority basis which help to improve the overall network performance. This paper provides a review of various buffer management schemes for packet queues in MANET. Index Terms: MANET, Buffer, Packet Queue. INTRODUCTION Mobile ad hoc network is dynamic network topology without any central network for control. All the nodes in the network participate in networking functions like routing and packet forwarding as per the requirement. Nodes which are in direct contact with each other communicate with single hop and those which are not in range takes multiple hops through intermediate nodes to reach destination Fig 1: Mobile Ad Hoc Network Fig.1 shows that source and destination nodes are not in range so packets are routed through intermediate nodes. As Mrs. Jones nurse, it is my responsibility to advocate for her by providing education and sharing information on the multiple different avenues available to decrease the cost of the medication prescribed. I will identify three strategies in which I can help Mrs. Jones afford her medication. First, I will provide education on her insurance plan and explain Medicare Drug Plans and their enrollment process. Secondly, I will identify a financial assistance program which she might qualify for. Finally, I will identify different ways to lower the cost of the medication such as coupons, drug discount cards, switching to a generic medication, and store programs ( Prescription Drug, 2014). All of these options are a solution to Mrs. Jones problem. In the meantime, it may be beneficial to obtain free samples from the physician s office if possible, but this only makes sense if there is a strong likelihood that she will eventually be able to afford the new medication. First, I must assess Mrs. Jones understanding of her insurance plan. Is she even aware that she doesn t have prescription drug coverage? This painting is part of the Hometown Memories collection as he paints different scenes from his childhood growing up. Hometown Morning is a painting of a street in Placerville, California that is full of life. It is a small community with people walking down the sidewalk and everyone and everything just seems peaceful. Since the original has been sold, the last location of the paintingwas at The Thomas Kinkade Museum in Monterey, California. The use of melancholic colors are shown as it is a dim setting as the sun begins to rise over the city street. However, the only vibrant colorused throughout the piece is a bright gold yellowto illuminate the insides of the homes through the windows. Kinkade s use of complementary colors are visible throughout. Different shades of yellow and blue are seen as there is yellow in the sky and also blue on the street. There are more cold colors than warm colors since the setting is in the morning and during the winter after it has rained. The people are dressed in winter clothes and some even have scarves on. Kinkade uses directional line to direct our attention to what is going on as our eyes go down the street. There is not an actual diagonal line that makes the road smaller, but the use of grass and the sidewalks does the trick. For nearly 400 years this assessment of Catherine de Medici held true. Other revisionist historians include Dame Francis Yates who interprets Catherine s many volte face as being less and example of Machiavellian scheming and more of an example of how Catherine was, in reality a politique who put the well being of the state before personal religious convictions. This position meant Catherine was unable to comprehend the religious fanaticism which swept France during the era in which she was regent and thus made the solving of the problem significantly more difficult. Other revisionists concentrate on her maternalism with Heritier[7] substantiating this opinion with references to the proportion of Catherine s letters that are addressed to Jean d HumiГѓВЁre, the royal children s governess. DISCUSS THE CHALLENGES ASSOCIATED WITH BIODIVERSITY LOSS FOR 21ST CENTURY CONSERVATION BIOLOGISTS AND SOCIETY AS A WHOLE Although sustainable development has been at the forefront of international agenda for many years, we continue to focus on the growth of the economy without worrying about the impact on the environment. Currently, our ecological footprint (the area in hectares that we require to provide us with the ecological goods and services we use) is far exceeding our biocapacity (the actual land available to provide these services); with the human population requiring over 1.5 earths to sustain the amount of resources we use each year (WWF, 2014). As the growth of the human population shows no sign of slowing down, with predictions there will be a further 2.4 billion people on the planet by 2050 (WWF, 2014), the pressures we exert on the planet will only increase. This overuse of resources is not only making it difficult to support our needs, but is also leaving little space and resources left for all the other species around the globe to thrive, and more importantly, survive. This has led to a decline in biodiversity at a much faster than would be seen under natural circumstances.
