The Canterbury Tales is a story that incorporates a multitude of stories told by a
multitude of characters. Written by Geoffrey Chaucer, he devises a novel in which
each character has to narrate a total of four stories as part of a competition; on their
way to visit Saint Thomas Becket, the characters would tell two stories going and
two stories returning from the journey. The perspective changes through each story,
and each story is introduced by a general, opening, third person prologue. Though

Marxism itself has been described as a one dimensional theory. Marx has been
criticised for the priority he gives to economic factors, Marx underestimated the
growth of the middle class,.
Feminism:
There are different types of feminism, but in general feminists believe that women
should have equal rights to men. They see important aspects of society as patriarchal
male dominated, feminists have fought to change things for women and they see
different ways of doing this e.g. campaign for changes in the law and new social
policies. Overall there have been legal changes that have benefited women.
Interactionists:
Focus on individual interpretations, how you interpret things are different not
everyone is the same. It sees action as meaningful to the people involved, they focus
on the definition of the situation, they examine how things come to be defined and
interpreted the way they are, some of them are interested in the way that some
groups are labelled and how that label has an impact on the individual. However
Interactionists are criticised for ignoring the historical and social settings in which
interaction takes place, not everybody s interpretations are given the same validity,
and with regard to labelling critics argue that not everyone goes along with the label,
some people may resist.

The term the Gilded Age was coined by Mark Twain. By this, he meant that the
period was glittering on the surface but corrupt underneath. With its period of extreme
economic growth, there was tremendous wealth, but only for the wealthy. The Second
Gilded Age, which some say was brought on as the Information Age, brings a level of
inequality to America that has never been seen before. Experts believe that this shift
could kill the American dream. The Gilded Age and the Age of Information are
similar in terms of the vast economic inequality prevalent, the issues arising with
immigration (both reform and influx), and the disparity between the political parties.

The United States income inequality has risen drastically since the 1970 s and has not
been this high since 1928. Economic inequality is the unequal differences in how
assets, wealth, and income are dispersed among the people and different populations
throughout the United States. It is often described as the gap between the rich and
the poor.
