Essay For Food
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Essay For Food" is both a tantalizing and challenging
endeavor. The subject itself encompasses a vast spectrum, ranging from the cultural significance
of food to its impact on health, economy, and even the environment. While the abundance of
information might seem like a buffet of ideas, curating a well-structured and insightful essay
requires careful consideration and a nuanced approach.
One of the primary difficulties lies in striking the right balance between general information and
specific details. It's easy to get lost in the sea of facts and statistics, losing sight of the essay's
core message. Additionally, the multifaceted nature of the topic demands a thoughtful
exploration of various aspects, making it crucial to avoid superficial discussions.
Another challenge is steering clear of clichГ©s and overused expressions. Food is a universal
theme, and many essayists may have traversed the same culinary territory. To stand out, it's
essential to approach the subject with a fresh perspective, offering unique insights or personal
experiences that captivate the reader's attention.
Furthermore, maintaining coherence throughout the essay is vital. Given the diverse angles one
can explore, there's a risk of the narrative losing its thread. Careful planning and a well-defined
thesis statement are necessary to guide the essay's trajectory and ensure a cohesive presentation
of ideas.
In essence, writing an essay on "Essay For Food" demands a delicate dance between broad
exploration and focused analysis, between the universal appeal of food and the individuality of
the writer's voice. It's a culinary challenge where the right mix of ingredients, metaphorically
speaking, can result in a savory and intellectually satisfying piece.
If navigating this culinary landscape feels overwhelming, fear not. Assistance is available for

Life Span Development and Personality Paper
Albert Fish was a 20th century serial killer, child rapist, sadomasochist, and cannibal.
This paper is a brief description focused on the forces that impacted his life from the
viewpoint of developmental psychology. The author made an effort to distinguish
between the influences of hereditary and environment on psychological development.
He also explains what family issues and social support systems may have influenced
Albert Fish s developmental growth and adjustment. Two different theories of
personality selected by the author was applied to Fish, which includes a discussion of
how each theory differs in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He strangled her, cut her up into little pieces, and devoured her. Fish said that he got
the idea of cannibalism from his uncle in 1894, which was never verified. His uncle,
Captain John Daus, sailed to China during the time of a famine. Children were
sold to be butchered. They were brought out in parts to be cut to one s choosing
and sold as veal. The captain told his nephew human meat did taste of veal, and the
behind was the sweetest part. The captain stole two children to bring home with
him. He beat their behinds for days, while they were still alive, to make it nice and
tender. Albert Fish decided he had to try it. Not only did the environment in which
he grew up shape Albert Fish, it is believed that his genetic influences may have had
a huge impact as well. His family had a history of mental illness: his uncle suffered
from religious mania, a brother was confined in the state mental hospital, another
brother had died of hydrocephalus and his sister had a mental affliction . Three other
close relatives suffered from severe mental illnesses and his mother was believed to
suffer frequent aural and/or visual hallucinations (Farlex, 2011). Albert Fish seems to
fall in the postconventional moral development area of psychological development.
Postconventional morality is how people reason using abstract, self defined moral
principles that may not match conventional moral beliefs (Kowalski Western, 2009).

Seventy two analogous cases. 89 killed. 126 injured. Every single shot fired was an
indirect result of the Columbine shooting ( The Columbine effect, 2015). On April
20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold opened fire on Columbine High School in
Littleton, Colorado with semiautomatic weapons and homemade bombs. The
Columbine High Schoolattack was the worst school shooting in history which
changed the way schools handle security and the way Americans react to gun control.
The 2 teenagers that opened fire on Columbine High School planned the shooting for
months before they actually attacked. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris started
preparing for the attack in 1998 by collecting four different gun that friends had given

Following the tragic event of the Columbine massacre, people throughout the United
States were forced to think about the possibility that in the future a similar incident
could occur near them (Marsico, 2011). Shortly after the shooting, students that went
to Columbine High School began drinking and over 500 students began seeing the
school counselor (Gibbs, Roche, Goldstein, Harrington, and Woodbury, 1999). Also,
many survivors and families reported that after the shooting they began having a
numb feeling in addition to getting depressed when the press asks questions. Seven
parents and four students were interviewed and many said that about a half a month
after the attack they began feeling negative and they looked for ways they could have
prevented the shooting (Norris,
Ancient Civilization And The Mayan People
Every ancient civilization had a set of beliefs and the Mayan people were no
different. The Mayan people believed in two worlds, the everyday world and the
underworld, or the Place of Awe, (2012). The Mayans believed in many gods,
human sacrifice and the burial process for the poor and the kings were very
different. The Mayans became around 250 AD and the Olmec s influenced their
religious culture. It was not until 900 AD that the Mayans began to flourish in
cities across modern day Mexico, Guatemala and north Belize. One of the most
important gods for the Mayans was the supreme god Itzamana, the creator god, the
god of fire and god of the earth (2012). Itzamana is shown as a king who was in
charge of minor gods. The God of Itzamana is connected to the sacred world tree,
or Ceiba tree, which for the Maya linked together the sky, earth, and the underworld
(2012). The Mayas believed in two worlds, the everyday world and the underworld
or place of Awe. The Mayan people believed that gods, spirits and dead ancestors
lived in the underworld. The person in charge of sending people to the underworld
was the main chief. Unlike some religions, the belief of the underworld for the
Mayans was very sad, dark, cold and a place where there where mean gods that
would torment them (2015). The Maya believed super natural levels not as heaven
and hell, but the upper, middle and underworld that consisted of many levels with the
underworld being the lowest level. The Ceiba tree or

Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On Potato Osmosis
The data collected from this experiment demonstrates that the potato undergoes a
hypotonic change when exposed to water as well as a hypertonic change when
saturated in a sucrose solution. Throughout the experiment, each piece of potato was
introduced to a different concentration of a sucrose and water solution. The sucrose
solution, due to its density, did not enter the potato cells while the water was easily
diffused into the cells through pores in their membranes. Water undergoes osmosisin
situations where there is more solute in one area compared to another. It will then
move towards the area with a higher concentrationof solute, in this case the
cytoplasm, and thus leave the area with a lower concentration of solute, the test tube.
The goal of osmosis is to find an equilibrium between the concentrations in both areas.
In general, it was possible to determine which potatoes were hypertonic, isotonic or
hypotonic based on their appearance. For instance, those in the highly concentrated
sucrose solution were noticed to be smaller in size, more malleable, and not
translucent. These observations show... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, test tube #0 and #4 both had an initial mass of 0.70g. The potato in test
tube #0 experienced a 14% change in mass while the potato in test tube #4 merely had
an 8.6% change in mass. This leads to the conclusion that the potatoes with a higher
water concentration than sucrose solution are more hypotonic than those with a
higher sucrose solution concentration. Moreover, according to the graph, when the
line of best fit is considered, it is clear that the lowest sucrose molarity causes
hypotonic results, the highest sucrose molarity causes hypertonic results and the
midpoint or isotonic results were discovered to be in test tube #5, the 1:1 ratio of
sucrose solution and
Compare And Contrast The New Deal And The Great
Society
President Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal in the 1930 s and President Lyndon B.
Johnson Great Society in the 1960 s had several policies, which led to some good
outcomes and some not so much. New norms that guided and redefined
administration organizations led to the development of schools and educators and to
the courses offered for the students. The great society held instruction with less
eagerness yet viewed as not that critical. Rather the great society concentrated on
more positions globally and acquiring government relief. The New Dealwas to fix the
unemployment by creating jobs and improve the economy. The Great Society was
supporting Civil Rights, lower the unemployment, create a welfare state, and
desegregation in education. The

Marketing Iphone
Q1: Apple faced with two main pricing decisions for its range of iPhones. The first
one is a skimming price decision and the second one is a penetration pricing decision.
1. Skimming price decision
When Apple first launched the new iPhone 3GS, it made a skimming price decision
which means it aims to sell to the top of the market and focuses on maximizing
profits in short term so it could recover the research and development costs. 2.
Penetration pricing decision
As the iPhones have moved through their product life cycle (from the introduction to
the growth or maturity stage) Apple adopted a penetration pricing strategy which
means selling products at very low price to attract more customers. The rationale
behind this decision was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Target costing one type of the demand based pricing.
Apple could first use market research such as consumer surveys to identify the
customers requirements of the quality and features of the product and their
perception of a fair price before the product is designed.
3. Trial pricing
Apple could price the new iPhone at a low price for a limited period of time to attract
customers. This strategy can help the company to get customer acceptance at the
initial period and then bring profits by increasing the price.
Q4: As far as I am concerned, I would recommend skimming price and trial pricing
strategy to Apple during its introduction stage of its product life cycle. When Apple
moves into the growth or maturity stage of life cycle, I would recommend the
penetration pricing strategy.
In terms of a skimming price decision if Apple doesn t know much about the
customer demand for its new product it would be useful. The reason is that it is
safer to start with a high price, which can be reduced if customers initially refuse to
purchase. In this case, as Apple s senior vice president said the new iPhone 3GS has
some unique competitive advantages in the phone market such as the wide range of
applications and faster load time. These benefits make many customers feel they must
have it no matter what the costs, that is to say, during the introductory stage of the
new product, the demand is price
Essay on Doppelganger and King Kong English Speech
Introduction:
Good morning/afternoon class and *teacher*, today I will be speaking about how
Michael Parker, the author of Doppelganger and Peter Jackson, the director of the
film King Kong, accurately portray the main concept of the Beast Within through the
symbolism of masks and the notions of betrayal and duplicity. I will be talking about
Josh and Andrew from Doppelganger, Carl Denham and the people that he
manipulated and affected through his deception, from King Kong and explain their
contributions to the main idea of the Beast Within, how they wear a mask and how
they portray the concepts of Duplicity and Betrayal.

The fact that Josh gave Andrew the QZ45 meant that there is now a whole new
series of events that affect the storyline; Andrew ends up killing boy because the
QZ45 has a mental and physical effect, where the taker feels ready to fight or kill .
In this case, boy makes Andrew angry, by slashing him with a knife during the
chase in the tunnels, and Andrew goes on a crazy rampage and kills boy. Andrew
soon becomes very guilty that he killed boy because he realises that in the normal
Sydney boy is a kid named Derek, who dies in a car crash, which makes Andrew
logically believe that if one person is killed in the Dystopic Sydney, this same
happening will reflect in a slightly different manner, in the normal Sydney. Josh
also demonstrates the concept of the Beast Within through the plain evil of what
he did to Andrew, the evil intentions of Josh were the reason why he did it, it wasn t
to save anyone s life, like Andrew ends up doing later on in the text, but it was all
part of Josh s scheme to become the owner of the metsin factory so that he could
become the richest and most famous person in the Dystopic Sydney, he was willing
to kill many people to get his desire and he managed to get a whole gang of hallboys
to listen to him and do it.
Body Paragraph 2: (King Kong):
In the film, King Kong, Ann Darrow, a key character, is first seen as a nice girl who is
Shepherd s Clinic Journal Paper
Clinical Journal Entry # 5: Shepherd s Clinic
Hours: 25.50 hours On this day, I presented my education presentation Nutrition for
High Blood Pressure at Shepherd s Clinics to patients and clients at the wellness
center. I chose this topic due to the high number of patients that report to the clinic
with a diagnosis of hypertension. For example, since beginning my practicum at the
site, I took a tally of those with high blood pressure. More than half the patients
being seen by a provider each day had high blood pressure. In addition to the
patients seen at the clinic, in the United States the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention reports 75 million Americans have high blood pressure (High Blood
Pressure Fact Sheet, 2016). Given these facts I wanted to address one big factor in
reducing the risks of high blood pressure and reducing the risk of developing heart
disease and other health risk. This factor is nutrition, as food plays a major role in
managing diseases like blood pressure and diabetes. ... Show more content on

For example, I drove around the neighborhood previously looking for healthy food
choices at an affordable price. However, I found that around the clinic, there were not
many healthy food options in walking distance. For example, Hillen Grocery store, a
convenient store that sells snack options is located eleven minutes walking distance
from the clinic. Giant food market, which serves more healthier options at a high
price range, is located eighteen minutes walking distance from the clinic. Because of
this reason, I provided patients at the clinic with alternatives to remedy the problem.
Besides teaching them how to replace meals, I also gave them information about
virtual supermarkets provided through the program Healthy Baltimore
The Studies Of Music And How It May Not Help The
Alzheimer...
In order to understand how the studies of music and how it may or may not help the
Alzheimer s disease (AD) one would need the background of it. AD is a progressive
neurological disease that leads to deterioration in cognitive abilities. People with AD
encounter a progressive decline in their neurological capabilities, which manifest in
languagedeficits, among other cognitive difficulties. The main failures in speech
include naming difficulties, verbal fluency deficit, comprehension problems, and
deterioration of spontaneous speech. People with AD tend to have discourse deficits,
which include empty phrases, indefinite words, and repetitions. The speech of a
person with the deficits is difficult for an interlocutor to follow. Thus, theses
progressive language failures can lead people with AD to isolation. Due to their
progressive inability to communicate, people with AD need interventions that address
their communication needs and help prevent social isolation (Dass, A., Amir, D.
2014).
Increased social interaction can improve quality of life by enabling people with AD
to remain socially engaged. Communication trainings include active instruction such
as role playing and analyzing video observations of conversations with people with
AD. Computer based systems are also used, providing multimedia stimuli.
Reminiscence therapy uses the intact long term memory that enabling people with
AD to engage in a conversation about their past experiences (Dass, A., Amir, D.

1.Current Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) eligibility requirements allow E 6
applicants to compete for CWO. The eligibility requirements not only allow for the
eligibility of an E 6, but loose standards for E 7, E 8, and E 9 exist as well. This
allows for a nonstandard means of leadership opportunities and unequal qualification
standards. Therefore, CWO requirements need to be changed.
2.IAW ref (a), E 6 applicants that placed in the top 50% of their perspective E 7

those 118, 9 are of the E 6 pay grade, and 4 more E 6 s are just one place below the
cut and have a very good chance to promote to CWO. This adds up to approximately
7.6% 10% of the new CWO workforce will be of the E 6 pay grade. Though some E

Management School (LAMS) that many E 6 s attended at sometimes the third class
petty officer level does not lay the foundation of strong leadership that one would
receive through attendance to the Chief Petty Officer Academy (CPOA). This means
that the E 6 that is selected for CWO
Romeo And Juliet Gender Roles Essay
In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, William Shakespeare defines
gender roles as traditional, however he challenges it by making the main characters
non traditional. He writes all the men , like capulet, and the kingsmen in the play as
traditional male gender role. All except for Romeo, who he writes as a non male like
genderrole. For the women in the play; the nurse, lady capulet, and juliet, he writes
them as non typical gender roles. Lady Capulet and the nurse are some form of
housewife, but their personalities are all independent. They both have their jobs to
take care of the men, but are seemingly independent. Capulet and the kingsmen are all
distinguished as strong, powerful characters. They are leaders, and fight with those
they hate, which Shakespeare writes as a traditional male trait. All except for Romeo.

They all are strong women. Although the women aren t really independent, their
personalities are. Lady Capulet has no job, and only serves as the wife of Capulet,
she still is independent with her own thoughts. She doesn t ask anything from
Capulet when she talks about marriage to Juliet. She is really seen as a
independent character. The Nurse works for the Capulet family. She is
independent in that she single handedly raised Juliet. She has no husband and
helped raise Juliet to the women she became. She always has her own opinion and
says it, despite being a servant. Juliet is just a girl, but still makes her own
decisions. She goes against her family and does what she believes. She didn t tell
anyone about Romeo and dates him even though their families have a fued. She
doesn t want to be like all the other women and just get married. She gives herself
her own voice. All the women have their own mindset and self sufficiency, while
living their lives as stereotypical women
The Pros And Cons Of Planned Parenthood
Today we dare to be scientist, analyst, or philosophers as we attempt further dissect
the true meanings behind a photo posted to the Planned Parenthood twitter page.
Attach to the photo was the following caption that states that, Senators Graham

version of Trumpcare. Within these few words it is revealed the cause that brought
this group of concerned American citizen to the capital. Various people, men and
women alike, came out to show their support with pink T shirts powers and signs in
tow as made evident by the photograph. Now women have not always had a voice
within politics, it is still a very young part of the American government dating back
only a few decades. With this call to arms the men and women of the United States
can get a word in about the terrible reform of the American healthcare system being
proposed. A consensus has been made by those following the course of bill that
latest healthcare proposal is possibly the worst attempt at repealing the Affordable
Care Act with a heightened disposition for women. The funding for Planned
Parenthood would be zeroed out under the new bill and Dawn Laguens, executive
vice president at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, had this to say in a
statement; It blocks women from getting preventive care at Planned Parenthood. It
slashes Medicaid, which 1 in 5 women of reproductive age rely on for care, including
birth control and cancer
The Premature Burial
In The Premature Burial , Edgar Allen Poe illustrates a narrator who explores his
fear of being buried alive. Throughout the short story Poe makes the theme clear by
illustrating that fears can be overcome as long as you focus on the darkest parts in
life. Poe demonstrates the theme through conflicts with the narrator and his fear.
During the short story, the narrator is absorbed by his fear. The narrator has a
medical disorder called catalepsy. This physical condition can make a person not
move or speak for several hour or even months. This condition haunts him everyday.
He is afraid of being with people because if the catalepsy gets to him while with
people they can confuse him with being dead and then bury him alive. For him no

The theme is The Premature Burial is that fears can be overcome as long as you
focus on the darkest areas of life. In January I faced one of my biggest fear. I was
put in a situation to leave my home country and pursue soccer. I feared that nothing
would go right and the kids would be much better than me. Constant thoughts of
leaving friends and family for nothing ran through my head. On the plane ride to
Portugal which was my destination for soccer I could not sleep. Like the narrator
is The Premature Burial this fear put me in complete distress . The first couple
days all i thought about was failing and having to go home and explain to everyone
that I was not good enough or strong enough to stay away. I later on faced my fear
by going to the first practice. Once I started playing every thought of fear escaped
my mind. I realized that my imagination is what kept me limited to succeed. After
the practice I got good news from the coaches and offered a spot on the team. Like
the narrator, my fear was overcome by experiences. With my fear overcome, living
in Portugal is not so bad. Without the reminder of my fear, I am enjoying my stay
and starting to feel grateful for this opportunity. In my life experience and poe s
short story, fear is present but can be tamed to a better and happier
Nathaniel Hawthorne s Life And Accomplishments
Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in 1804 and died in 1864. He was born in Salem,
Massachusetts. His father died young and he lived in with his strict mother while
he was a child. His great great grandfather was a strict judge in the Salem Witch
Trials. The family felt they had been cursed by their connection to this sad event. It
also happens that his family had been a very wealthy/ influential family during
Puritan times and was still well off, so he was the beneficiary of these Puritan
wrongs. Therefore, much of Hawthorne s writing deals with his shame over his
connection to the Puritans. It was hard for him to make money, so he had many
government related jobs. He hated Salem but he had to stay because he had to make
money. He
Why Is Kate Chopin Important
The Author and Her Times World renowned feminist author, Kate Chopin was born
in the city St. Louis Missouri on February 8, 1850. Before her death on August, 22,
1904, she wrote hundreds of short stories, many of which focused on the lives and
rights of women. Many of her short stories were published in America s well
known magazines. When she Chopin was only five years of age, her successful
businessman father was killed in a tragic railroad accident in 1855, she grew up
during the Civil War and live with her widowed grandmother and mother. Following
her father s death Chopin was living with strong, independent and intelligent women,
she received great mentoring and knowledge by the women in her family. In 1863

However when she finished the novel in 1898 and published it in 1899 the novel
did not receive well reviews from critics being that the novel was widely
condemned, it caused uproar in society. Many disagreed with its vulgar and
grotesque content, her novel was also banned from her local library. Seeing that
the social norm for women in Chopin s era were to obey one s spouse s, The
Awakening did just the opposite, it influenced women to rebel against their
husbands and to stand up against their controlling demands. The unorthodox views
on women s issues is seen as a landmark of early feminism this is primarily the
reason why so many critiqued her novel. In August 22, 1904, her work was merely
forgotten until scholars recognizes the novel s insight. Slowly Chopin s work was
being read worldwide, she attracted the attention of students and scholars. Today she
is known as a classic writer who expressed her thoughts, concerns, and opinions on

According, to Claus and Kindleberger (2002). A with substance abuseproblem needs

says when he is around his friend they influence him to use drugs. Ricky also stated
that his learning social skill has never been what it should have been growing up.
He had a hard time learning the information in school, which is while it took him
so long to graduate. Social Skill is the lack of knowledge, as opposed to intentional
deviance (Walsh, 2009). This deficit is found in children between the age 7 and
10. After, reviewed the case files from his prior records and notes from our
sessions. I have come up with this assessment cocaine is the major issue that he is
facing. Therefore, if he gets this under control then he can deal with the other
issues that he is dealing with. I also assess that this drug problem is taking a major
total on his body. Because, it is harming his body, which could cause major concern
in the long run. People who use cocaine is 5 times more likely to suffer a drug
related stroke. In my finding it was also relieved that after, using crack he goes into
a stage of withdrawing. In which he doesn t communicate with anyone and he sleeps
all the time. I have determined since this is the major force
The Benefits Of Asteroids
Science fiction story synopsis: An evil man plans to mine gold and other precious
metals from asteroids to fund his worldwide domination. A team of skilled military
trained astronauts will have to find a way to stop him. The countries of the world
have to band together to find to prevent this from happening again. The story will
include asteroid mining, 3D printing, water powered space craft, space weaponry,
using radar and IR cameras to determine asteroid composition, and others. The story
follows the actions of the villain and his demise at the hands of justice.
Near earth asteroid mining has great potential to benefit life on earth and make
space travel far more accessible. There are practically unlimited resources available
in asteroids. Using these instead of earthly resources would reduce the cost of space
travel. Asteroid mining opens up incredible opportunities for space travel. Since
asteroids are found throughout the solar system, contain elements that are useful and
rare on earth, and can be used to manufacture equipment in space.
Asteroids are made up of various elements, each has its own benefit. There are
numerous types of asteroids, some are loose clusters of rubble but the main ones are

Since the world economy is based on the rarity of metals like gold and platinum, an
abundance of these materials brought back to earth would upturn the system.
Asteroids give essentially unlimited resources. John Lewis discussed in his book
Mining the Sky that these untold trillions of dollars locked away in the asteroids
could provide first world comfort for the whole world indefinitely[9]. There must be
regulation. If too many precious metals are brought to earth, the value of them will
decrease. Resources from asteroid mining are best for uses in space, constructing
and maintaining equipment for space travel. Even when launch costs drop to $500
$1000 per kilogram, space mined materials will be worth $500,000 a ton
Analysis Of The Film Precious
Introduction The motion picture Precious gives us a powerful experience, mainly
because the story line has a thin hopefulness in the dark clouded life of Precious,
Precious is resilient, even though her tragic life influences her personality greatly.
In the film, Precious is a sixteen year old girl who leads a rather lonely life, for she
has no friends and is obese. Her father is a negligent and sick father, who rapes her
from time to time, and has been doing so before she could even learn to crawl
since she was three years old. The film shows Precious in her second pregnancy,
with both of them as results of her father s vicious acts. Her mother is possibly the
worst and unimaginable character. Naturally, mothers are expected to be
supportive of their daughters, but this is not the case with hers. Her mother is a
mean woman, who abuses her in every way possible physically and emotionally
especially. She hits her with steel kitchenware without any provocation. All these
harsh realities make her to adopt an unhealthy lifestyle and habits like eating junk
food and leeching off the welfare they are provided with in their poor conditions.
However, the most adverse effect of the abuse is the psychological effects. Her

Literary Analysis Of A Tree Grows In Brooklyn
The Everlasting Tree An American classic is a novel that has beautiful language,
complex characters that change throughout the novel and is timeless. A Tree Grows
in Brooklyn does just that. Betty Smith, author of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, wrote
this novel about a young girl s coming of age during the early 1900 s. Smith wanted
to publish a novelthat showed the American Dream and the struggles of being poor
in America. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is considered an American classic because
of its connection to the American Dream, how the hardships of being poor
prevented attaining that dream and the impact of Francie being a woman with the
injustices she faced. Betty Smith was a German immigrant that lived in
Williamsburg Brooklyn, New York (Johnson). She was a play writer and a novelist
at a young age (Johnson) . Smith began her writing career at Ann Arbor and her
playwriting career at the Yale School of Drama (Johnson). Her move to North
Carolina to become a part of the WPA Federal Theater Project kick started her
career as a play writer (Johnson). Her novel, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, was
written over a period of a few years and was based on her own life (Johnson). As
soon as it was published in 1943 it became a bestseller instantly and many saw
Smith as a major component of literacy in the 1940 s (Johnson). The stress of her
overnight success put a considerable amount of pressure on her to write consimore
novels (Johnson). She settled in Chapel Hill, NC where she later
Similarities Between Genesis And The Truman Show
In both the Truman Show and Genesis there is a main creator. Christof, in The
Truman Show, is the director of a programme that stars a man called Truman
Burbank. Christof controls majority of the things that happen inside of the
television program and within his creations. God, in the bible, created the world
and everything that it holds. God has power over two people he creates in the story
of Genesis. The product of both creators are also extremely alike, Truman showing a
lot of qualities that Adam shows. The two creators differ in ways of control and their
decisions made. Although they have differences, there are many parallels to how they
handle their power over their creations.
One of the main points of similarity include where the main story is the set. In The
Truman Show, the director, Christof, creates a real building in the shape of a dome
and names it Seahaven. In the bible God made a dome and named it sky. Both
stories show a perfectly clean and perfect place for the main characters to live. The
dome in The Truman show is shown to be a stereotypically clean, small American
town. Similarly, the dome in the bible is shown as a beautiful place to live filled
with everything someone living there could need. Inside the dome in Genesis, Lord
God took some soil from the ground and formed a man out of it. God created
humans to live inside the dome he made whereas Christof put actors inside the dome.
The scene starts with Truman looking in the bathroom mirror. It
My Fear Of Drowning
Everyone has a greatest fear whether it be from fear of dolls to fear of death. Fear
is characterized by a feeling of terror or dread caused by an object that you believe
to be harmful. All fears are caused by an event that has happened to someone that
traumatizes them for life. A fear is sometimes unovercomable and this may be
because to overcome it one must be a certain characteristic. For example, to overcome
the fearof ugliness one must lose weight and sometimes acquire surgery. My greatest
fear is the idea of drowningand this is a fear of many. I do not have a certain
characteristic to acquire before overcoming my fear of drowning except for
knowledge of pooletiquette and rules. To understand one s fear the information about
the traumatizing event must be presented. Also when they found out the fear existed
and how one overcame, if did, the fear.
Fear of drowning is my greatest fear because when I was eight I drowned in a
clear, blue, treacherous pool by the hotel with the dark burgundy colored brick and
cream colored doors. I remember my cousins laugh whenever someone went the
wrong way as they were playing marco polo. I was sitting on the scorching cement by
the pool when I decided I wanted to cool down and play with everyone else. I did not
have the understanding of what the big, black numbers by the pool meant, all I saw
was six and dived in. As soon as I dove in, I felt the lack of air, replaced by water,
reaching my lungs as I tried to stand and breathe
Examples Of Characters In Percival Everett s Short Story...
Percival Everett s collection of short stories Half an Inch of Water has many
examples of characters create distractions to avoid dealing with the obstacles they

that is coming to an end, and a man who is avoiding an inevitable outcome to a
troublesome situation.
The character Sarah Daniels in Percival Everett s short story Wrong Lead has clouded

It s not until they experience a trauma together that their relationship begins to
mend itself. When Benjamin finally musters the courage to force his daughter to
do something even though he is still reluctant he notices that she is willing to put
forth a bit of effort and participation. Emma s attitude is clearly fueled by her anger
towards her father and how he treated her mother who is no longer in the picture.
Benjamin even admits that he didn t treat her well and that he could have done
better. There is a legitimate fault on both sides. Benjamin s behavior towards his ex
wife and Emma s moody teenager phase. In the short story Graham Greene, the

Lord of the Flies
Humanity and how easily it can be lost
Humanity is fragile and can shatter under the pressure of isolation and lack of basic
infrastructure. Everyone needs a certain amount of security in their environment; it is
generally thought that no matter what your surroundings, you are who you are.
Although in reality without that security you derive from your settings people have a
hard time retaining their normal, stable mindset. The humane, logical side of
everyone can be manipulated by the influence of their environment, the order and
structure, or lack thereof, which surrounds them and the absence of an authoritative
presence in their day to day lives.

The Current Financial Crisis Essay
Frederic Mishkin makes the point in the text, The Economics of Money Banking, and
Financial Markets (2010) that Banks and other financial institutions are what make
financial markets work. Without them, financial markets would not be able to move
funds from people who save to people who have productive investment opportunities.
(p.7). The movement of funds between savers and those with productive investment
opportunities is the means of creating growth. When people lose confidence in the
economy this activity freezes or weakens, consequently, asset prices decline,
unemployment rises and companies default as was the case of Lehman Brothers in
2008. The freezing of the flow of money is a financial crisis. Today, the global flow of

Europe and China are major economies that impact the world.
Europe s challenges with the Euro are complicated. The United States congress
had trouble agreeing to enact legislature to raise its debt ceiling in order to meet its
obligations and maintain its credit ratings. In Europe, separate countries need to
agree to come together with a combined political will to stabilize countries and
banks in financial trouble. Without the power to print money individually, each
country under the single currency must come together under combined policies.
Today, Europe seems willing to reach combined policy decisions to avoid an
economic disaster. Ultimately, if this happens, the Euro will have a stronger
future just as the United States gained a stronger political and financial system
from policies created as a result of the Great Depression. If Europe fails to come to
agreement on combined policies to solve the European Debt Crisis the world will
realize the financial risks. Direct exposure is already being seen in the financial
institutions. MF Global recently filed for bankruptcy. Exposure to European bonds
brought down a $41B firm just 3 weeks after a European bank failure. Repo to

type of financial instrument. Firms with similar investments could see greater risk if
interest rates rise and bond values fall.

C. Why This Book: I chose Thick as Thieves by Peter Spiegelman because the story
seemed very interesting. The cover of the book is what really caught my attention.
The cover has lots of diamonds on it and it stood out to me in the library. I read the
short summary on the back of the book, and it really intrigued me. I think that the
story sounded suspenseful, and I enjoy stories that have a lot of suspense in them. I
am glad that I chose this book because it turned out to have a good story line to it. D.

The Emergence Of The Taliban Essay
The beginnings of the Taliban can be tied back to the Soviet defeat in Afghanistan.
The defeat of the Soviet s was due to collaboration among various tribal leaders. The
Soviet withdraw and the shift in American foreign policy allowed the emergence of
new rivalries and coalitions among different Afghan groups, such as the non Pashtuns
and Pashtuns, Sunnis v Shias, Ghilsais v Durranis and also among the Pashtun tribes
themselves. The Soviet withdrawal, ultimately, led to a civil war among local
warlords and created a vacuum of power for the Talibanto emerge. There are many
variables for why the Taliban emerged, such as: rape, lack of government, looting,
warlords, the misery of Afghan citizens, which all prompted the Taliban to disarm
local populations and impose Sharia law. Mullah Omar, the leader of the Taliban,
looked at the rape and the murder of boys, specifically, as a primary reason to form
the Taliban (Akbar, 2015, pp.213 216). Thus it seems that the Taliban emerged as the
legitimate representative of Afghanistanin the 1990s. It also important to note that the
rise of the Taliban was not random but was also supported by Pakistan in 3 ways:
first, through moral support, second, through military support, and third, through it s
recognizing the Taliban as the official government in Afghanistan. The original
Taliban were composed of former of Mujahedeen. They were from rural Pashtun
tribes from southern and southeastern Afghanistan. These tribes were friendly
Oblivion Film Analysis
In the film Oblivion directed by Joseph Kosinski, there are multiple relationships that
are used to support the writers purpose in showing the strength of love. A realtionship
that displayed this in particular was held between the characters Jack and Julia. The
characters fight through the impossible and together showed the audience how
significant lovecan be in your life.
In the very beginning of the film we re introduced to the character Jack, our first
impression is that he s a brainwashed soldier that lives and breathes by his work.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of 4G
4G
What is 4G?
4G or fourth generation technology is a mobile communication standard intended to
replace 3G allowing wireless internet access at much higher speeds! (Dictionary)
4G is the first radio system to use an all IP addressing scheme. This means we can
now carry out voice over internet protocol on our mobile devices. The only problem
with this is that there are a lot of countries that do not have full 4G coverage which
means less advanced radio systems will have to be used but as 4G is rapidly
advancing it won t be long until we have an all ip based radio system.
(Chandler, 2012)

rate than ever before all from our 4g ready mobile devices.
Better signal and wider coverage. 4G has a better connection than any other service

can only cover a few hundred meters.
With nearly all the mobile network providers offering 4G at a very competitive
price you can find one to suit you where you only pay for what you need.

Disadvantages of 4G
When 4G was released not all devices could use the services as the hardware was too
old so users needed to upgrade their hardware in order to connect.
4G has more of a drain on your battery then any of the previous cellular networks up
to 20% more in fact. This is because the radio is doing far more than ever before, the
radio is what takes up your battery more than anything after your LCD screen
When 4G was first released it obviously had some bugs and glitches just like most
things after its first release

My Strengths In Football
One of my strengths in football is passing. Passing is a key part in the game of
football. The aim is to maintain possession to try and create opportunities to score to
win the game. When I m going to pass the ball I make sure that I use the correct
technique when deciding to play a certain pass. During a gameI would use the inside
of my strong foot (left), keeping the ball low when performing a short pass.
However, when I m going to play a longer pass or switching the ball I would use the
laces on my boot technique by drilling the ball to another teammate judging the
weight and height of the pass depending on the distance away from him. Also I
would make sure that I stay very calm and composed so that I don t make any errors
or hesitate.
Anther, strong physical aspect of my game would be my cardiovascular endurance,

This Is because, improving my headers allows me to get enough power in my header
within a cross situation. This means that If my team see that I m good at heading
then they would be crossing the ball in most of the time. If my heading is better that
would mean that I I can use this skill to an advantage for scoring more goals.
However, because my heading is a weakness I cannot head the ball first time when the
ball is crossed and cannot get enough power.
When training I will be working on heading. My training program involves football
training evolved around heading the ball. Every week the activities I do I would
make sure that I increase the intensity which would allow my progression to be
quicker and see improvements. I will do the same activities but the will get harder
and I will do them for longer each time. I will keep doing these activities so my
effort put in does not start to reverse. I also do the same amount of activities, in the
training program, each
Argumentative Essay On Utilitarianism
UTILITARIANISM
I think that the topic of Utilitarianism is interesting to me since I find myself using
the greatest happiness principle throughout an everyday basis.Utilitarianism is
defined as the ethical doctrine that virtue is based on utility.Utilitarianism is
essentially whichever action creates the most happiness for the greatest number of
people is the right answer. People have considered utilitarianism controversial since
not everyone agrees that the greatest happiness principle leads to the right choice, but
rather to the wrong decision. The way that we approach this issue could potentially
have severe consequences, on issues like immigration reform, campus carry, etc, if not
agreed upon with the use of the greatest happiness principle. In this argumentative
paper, I will argue that using utilitarianism and the greatest happiness principle would
lead to the to the right decision.
I place confidence in my decision that the use of utilitarianism and the greatest
happiness principle leads us to the right decision, because it is evident as an effective
result for contemporary moral issues such as; immigration reform, campus carry, and
capital punishment. Before I explain my reasoning into why my position in the
argument is correct, I would like to explain the key words that I will be using
throughout the argumentative paper. For one, utilitarianism states that a positive
value is happiness and negative value is suffering . Another term that I will be
mentioning often throughout the essay is the Greatest Happiness Principle . This
greatest happiness principle states that the morally right action maximizes happiness
and minimizes suffering for everyone affected, considered equally .The greatest
happiness principle is impartial which means that no one s happiness or suffering is
more important than anyone else s . Those who decide between which pleasures are
higher and lower are those who have tried both ( also know as the competent
judges). These competent judges will tend to prefer the higher pleasure.Their
decisions are influence on which option creates the most amount of happiness and the
least amount of suffering. I believe people should accept the use of the greatest
happiness principle to find the
Apathy Definition
Before infrastructure, before wildlife, before the oceans, and before the sun, was the
one specimen that created all that came prior: the human brain. The brain, in all its
intricacy and wonder, can cause the greatest pain and the greatest success. The very
framework the brain embodies succumbs to its purpose of formulating ideas or
creating makeshift plans to haphazardly carry out. Humans, the most complex of all
creatures in the world, exemplify the notion of using their brains for creativity, critical
thinking, and extreme to moderate emotional ranges. However, with this intellectual
power, comes great opposition, as man s greatest obstacle has become overcoming his
emotional severity to utilize his mind s sole purpose: rational thinking.... Show more

Although apathy is accredited to the intricacy of the human brain and how it absorbs
immediate content, apathy is strictly unaffordable. The limitations the brain asserts
on humanity is unaffordable. Due to the instability of the environment s future, the
rising sea level must be made a very steady danger. People must be made highly aware
of the threats, implications, possibilities, and immediacies, through any mechanism
they encounter with, may it be through news stations or media outlets. The strength
of unity among humans must be depended upon to eradicate apathy. Science has
spoken, the environment has lectured, and the ocean will soon shout. Time is not on
the planet s side, and apathy quickens the pace of absolute destruction. Climate
change is not a hopeless cause, as long as the looming culmination of the rising sea
level is not hidden away by the thunderous and covert operations through ennui and
lack of involvement by the human race. Neutral plasticity is a real component of the
brain s gift that keeps on giving, and humans can initiate change in their own minds
and create their own neural networks. Connections can be made and destroyed, and
responses can be manipulated in response to new situations and changes in the
environment. The preceding solutions to apathy only prove how flexible and
revolutionary the human brain can be in times of

received word that two young men were waiting outside to see him. As he left the
dining hall, it collapsed behind him. During the excavation of the rubble, Simonides
was called upon to name each guest killed. Though their bodies had been crushed
beyond recognition, he was able to identify them by recalling their positions (loci in

need to remember with locations on a familiar route, or with rooms in your house,

Challenges Faced By Senior Management
INTRODUCTION
The business environment of today is complex; thereby faster decisions have to be
made and better allocation of resource is essential with a clearer focus of the
future. This poses a major problem to senior management because organizations
consist of a changing mix of large and small projects which brings new challenges
in prioritization of projects, resource planning and monitoring (Elonen and Artto,
2003). According to Engwall and Jerbant (2003) cited in Kaizer et al., 2015, the
number of available project alternatives far outnumber the projects an organization
can handle at a given time with its limited resources, and making the right choice
from all these alternatives is rarely easy. Mankins and Steele (2005) cited in
Meskendahl (2010) posits that only 63% of strategies potential values are realized
by firms and Johnson (2004) cited in Meskendahl (2010) reveals that about 66% of
corporate strategy is never realised. Nonetheless, Hrebiniak (2006) cited in
Meskendahl (2010) states that making strategy work is more difficult than making
strategy itself. In other words, it is difficult for firms to put strategy into action. This
is where Project portfolio management (PPM) comes in. Building on this, the aim of
this essay is to evaluate PPM elements in an organization, discuss the tools and
criteria used to support the decision making and evaluation of project success, and
consider the significance of PPM for other organizations that may want to consider it.

Much Ado About Nothing The Characters of Claudio and Benedick
Shakespeare s comedy, `Much Ado About Nothing is a play revolved around the
love and friendships of two young couples, integrated with each other through both
friendship and love. Love and marriage are the two most prominent ideas in
Shakespeare s comedies. The two couples are Benedick and Beatrice, an unpredicted
match as they appear to be quite the opposite and are forever arguing in their poetic
banter. The other couple is Claudio and Hero, the two who seem madly in love yet

Like many of Shakespeare s other heroes, Benedick has a comic and serious side. I
think he combines everything Shakespeare seems to like in a character; he is
amusing (his witty banter with Beatrice is where most of the humour in this play

playwright. Beatrice chooses Benedick, she pleases herself, not her family, and as a
result, their relationship is much more equal and evenly balanced. It is this

He engages with Beatrice in a competition to outwit, out smart and out insult the

The Tools Of Empire Daniel Headrick Summary

In his piece The Tools of Empire , Daniel Headrick explores and analyzes the way
that technological innovations led European countries to colonize countries in Asia,
by providing the means for them to do so. He aims to analyze the technological
changes that made imperialism happen, both as they enabled motives to produce
events, and as they enhanced the motives themselves _ He uses Great Britain and
China as an example throughout the first two chapters of his piece to demonstrate
how these innovations led to British imperialism in China. Technological innovations
such as the steamboat provided the both the means and motives for British
imperialism in China. Technological innovations gave Great Britain an advantage, by
allowing them to conquer China. Inventions such as the gunboat allowed the British
to enter China due to their ability to travel along water and attack places. The early
history of the gunboat illustrates the interaction between technological innovation
and the motives of Imperialism _. The British used their technological ... Show more

However, with the help of quinine, European doctors were able to cure Malaria, thus

the help of advancing gun technology, the Europeans were able to conquer Africa.
Headrick states, Despite sporadic resistance, no African town along the rivers and no
war canoe could withstand for long the power of British gunboats _. Meaning that not
even one part of Africa could stand a chance against the Europeans, due to Therefore,
with the help of quinine and gun technology, the Europeans were able to explore and

Alcohol Is A Popular Ingredient
In today s society, alcohol is a popular ingredient in numerous products and
beverages. And for better or worse, alcohol has shaped our civilization for many
centuries. Alcohol is any organic compound, which the hydroxyl functional group is
bound to a saturated carbon atom. It is classed as a depressant, which is an ingredient
that slows down vital functions resulting in slurred speech, unsteady movement,
disturbed perceptions and an inability to react quickly. As for how it affects the mind,
alcoholis best understood as a drug that reduces a person s ability to think rationally
and distorts our judgment. The term alcohol is originally referred to the primary
alcohol ethyl alcohol, the predominant alcohol in alcoholic beverages. Ethanolis
thought to cause harm partly as a result of direct damage to DNA caused by its
metabolites. Alcohol is absorbed into the bloodstream via small blood vessels in the
walls of the stomach and small intestine. Within minutes of drinking alcohol, it travels
from the stomach to the brain, where it quickly produces its effects, slowing the
action of nerve cells. Some people should not drink at all, including alcoholics,
children, pregnant women, people taking certain medicines, and people with certain
medical conditions. Anything more than moderate drinking can be risky. Heavy
drinking can lead to alcoholismand alcohol abuse, as well as injuries, liver disease,
heart disease, cancer, and other health problems. It can also cause problems at
Juvenile Criminal Cases
U.S. criminal law draws an important distinction between adult perpetrators of crimes
and young offenders who often lack the critical faculties to fully understand the
nature of their actions. Based on the belief that adolescent offenders can be
rehabilitated more quickly and completely than adults, the criminal justicesystem has
instituted a separate system for handling juvenile cases. According to the Michael A.
Newland Law Office, based in Hamilton, OH, the juvenile law system offers a few
major advantages to youths accused of a crime.
For example, in many states juvenile law allows for:

The Colonel By Michael Hogan Analysis
Study by definition is the application of mind to the knowledge that one have, as by
reading, observation, writing or talking. Many people have acknowledged the
benefits of studies in lives and that is one of the reason why the education system
exist. Studies have lots of advantages, but if people both study and apply it to their
lives, the knowledgethat they have would last longer and give more benefits to them.
In Of Studies, Francis Bacon points out about the importance of studies and how it is
useful in practical application. In The Colonel, Michael Hogan describes his
experiences in learningtennisfrom an army colonel who also taught him life s lessons.
Although Bacon and Hogan are both writing about knowledge and lessons, that...

As the matter of fact, Hogan s essay which was written in the later time from Bacon

to get comprehensive learning and benefits from what they have studied, they have
to put them into practical practices. Learning theories or basic ideas of some subject
of studies are not fully useful until people use as well as apply them in their lives as
both theories and practical knowledge should come

King Philip Regime and Government In the novel, Paris 1200 by John W.
Baldwin, King Philip (Philip Augustus), was an important contributor to the
growth of the French Monarchy. He was able to increase the Monarchy better then
any other King before him. He defeated many enemies, sought to overtake the
British crown and embarked on a third crusade. King Philip Augustus brought
financial stability to the country and was very popular amongst his subjects. King
Philip when assigned King had many goals to achieve to make his Kingdom the
most powerful. He changed the political structure to better suit these goals and
allow for a better transition with his changes. King Philip Augustus had different
relationships, good and bad, with the Catholic Church, the Parisian Elite and
England. Philip II, starting at such a young age, had high expectations for the
development of the Kingdom. Philip Augustus was the late son of King Louis VII
and it was a miracle that King Louis VII could bear a son so late in his regime. His
birth at Paris on 21 August 1165 was the occasion of exceptional rejoicing for his
parents, and for the Parisian population because it brought long years of anxiety to
a close (Baldwin 71). The country finally felt secure knowing there was a male
hair in line to rule the Kingdom. King Philip was the son of Louis VII and Alix de
Champagne. He was born in Paris and spent as much time as possible in the capital
area. His father planned to associate Philip with him on the

Difference Between The Rich Get Rich And The Poor Get
Poorer
The rich get rich and the poor get poorer. Essentially this is the view that Marx and
Engels had on social economic status. There is a polarization of classes, in that
there is a division of groups, the rich and the poor. However not much has changed
today. The rich help the rich, and the poor in a sense also help the rich, but no one
seems to care to help the poor. Even in times of natural catastrophes the poor
undoubtedly suffer the most with little help from anyone. The state only helps the
ruling class and protects big corporations.
Even with decades of warning of the possible flooding that could happen from the
after math of Hurricane Harvey, corporations chose to ignore all warnings and took
no action to prepare if a natural disaster were to happen. Marx and Engels would see
that their theories are still relevant today. There is still a social and economic
inequality between classes. The poor and marginalized suffer the most. Marx and
Engels propose that the class in control of the material production also controls the
mental production The ideas of the ruling class are in every epoch the ruling ideas,
i.e. the class which is the ruling material force of society, is at the same time I ts
ruling intellectual force. The class which has the means of material production at
its disposal, has control at the same time over the means of mental production, so
that thereby, generally speaking, the ideas of those who lack the means of mental
production are subject to it (Marx, 172). Those in the top class are in charge and
ruling everyone else. They re the ones who have a say and the power over others.
The corporations not only ignored the warnings for the flood they also fought against
having to take any precautions in case the natural disaster did happen. The flood itself
could not have been prevented, but the amount of damage and the people harmed
could have been kept at a minimal. Marx stresses that the economic production, the
base, is what shapes the prevailing ideas, the superstructure, and this economic
structure is what drives society.
The rich take everything they can from the poor and are nowhere in sight when they
are in need of help. They state the reason people are poor is because of their own

Hubble Space Telescope Essay
According to a newsletter sent out by the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA), the purpose of the Hubble Space Telescope was, and is, to
gather light from cosmic objects so scientists can better understand the universe
around us. Up until the deployment of the Hubble Space Telescope, all telescopes
were Earth based and had the disadvantage of having to peer at the stars through the
Earth s atmosphere. The Earth s atmosphere provides a large amount of distortion
when viewing very far objects, like space, through a telescope. Placing a telescope in
space eliminates the distortion and provides images that are significantly clearer and
in turn, easier to examine. The Hubble Space Telescopes six different science

The fourth important instrument is the Near Infrared Camera and Multi Object

light which makes it useful for observing objects tainted by gases and dust. It is also
used to peer into the deepest parts of space. The fifth important instrument is the
Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph, which is a utility instrument that separates
the light from the cosmos into its component colors. It is also used to study black
holes, the composition of galaxies, and the atmosphere of planets around all stars.
The sixth and final important instrument is called the Fine Guidance Sensors, which
target devices that lock on to guide stars and measure their positions in relation to the
objects being viewed. The sensors also perform celestial measurements.
The Hubble Space Telescope is powered by solar cells which are solid state electrical
devices that convert the energy of light directly into electricity by an effect called
the Photovoltaic effect. When many solar cells are put together they are called solar
modules which can also capture energy from sunlight. When many modules are
placed together it is called a solar panel. Hubble had many problems finding funding
for the telescope. The U.S. Congress questioned the proposed original budget, as it

The Flavored Of Music And Exercise
Concoction of Music and Exercise Music has a greater impact in our lives than we
realize. Music is everywhere we go and is listened to on a daily basis, which affects
us in different ways. Music is incorporated into different aspects of living such as a
work environment, sports games, while studying, in the car, or while doing exercise.
Incorporating music into exercise has been proven to make exercising in any
environment more fun, boost one s mood, increasing motivation, and varying heart
rate depending on the tempo of music. Music and exercise increase the brainactivity,
along with facilitate in the motor development of a child. In today s world, music is
used to help facilitate one s gaining knowledge of self, others, and the world. The
brain grows into two hemispheres, and music plays a crucial role in the neurological
development of a child. From an early age, music helps naturally develop a child s
communication, expression, and cognition (Yoon 9). Frank Wilson, a well known
neurologist, stated that music more fully involves brain functions in both
hemispheres than any other activity. The hemispheres of the brain work together
when emotions are stimulated, attention focused, and motivation heightened, which
happen when music is being played; music synchronizes the right and left
hemispheres of the brain. When listening to enjoyable music, electrical activity is
seen in brain regions responsible for coordinating movement, including the
supplementary motor area,

Ivory, gold, silver, kola nuts, cloth and enslaved people were wanted from the rest of

that had changed through cultural diffusion due to trade. Swahili City states were
located on the East coast of Africa, where they traded many fascinating goods and
products through the Indian Ocean. During the MIddle Ages, they traded with Persia,
India, Arabia and other inland African countries. In the Great Zimbabwe, there was
gold located in the ground and Arabic traders ventured through the disasters of the

Essay For Food.pdf

  • 1. Essay For Food Crafting an essay on the topic of "Essay For Food" is both a tantalizing and challenging endeavor. The subject itself encompasses a vast spectrum, ranging from the cultural significance of food to its impact on health, economy, and even the environment. While the abundance of information might seem like a buffet of ideas, curating a well-structured and insightful essay requires careful consideration and a nuanced approach. One of the primary difficulties lies in striking the right balance between general information and specific details. It's easy to get lost in the sea of facts and statistics, losing sight of the essay's core message. Additionally, the multifaceted nature of the topic demands a thoughtful exploration of various aspects, making it crucial to avoid superficial discussions. Another challenge is steering clear of clichГ©s and overused expressions. Food is a universal theme, and many essayists may have traversed the same culinary territory. To stand out, it's essential to approach the subject with a fresh perspective, offering unique insights or personal experiences that captivate the reader's attention. Furthermore, maintaining coherence throughout the essay is vital. Given the diverse angles one can explore, there's a risk of the narrative losing its thread. Careful planning and a well-defined thesis statement are necessary to guide the essay's trajectory and ensure a cohesive presentation of ideas. In essence, writing an essay on "Essay For Food" demands a delicate dance between broad exploration and focused analysis, between the universal appeal of food and the individuality of the writer's voice. It's a culinary challenge where the right mix of ingredients, metaphorically speaking, can result in a savory and intellectually satisfying piece. If navigating this culinary landscape feels overwhelming, fear not. Assistance is available for those seeking a helping hand in essay writing. Services like HelpWriting.net offer a range of options for custom essays, providing tailored solutions to suit individual needs. • 2. Essay On Life Span + Life Span Development and Personality Paper PSY/300 May 23, 2011 Life Span Development and Personality Paper Albert Fish was a 20th century serial killer, child rapist, sadomasochist, and cannibal. This paper is a brief description focused on the forces that impacted his life from the viewpoint of developmental psychology. The author made an effort to distinguish between the influences of hereditary and environment on psychological development. He also explains what family issues and social support systems may have influenced Albert Fish s developmental growth and adjustment. Two different theories of personality selected by the author was applied to Fish, which includes a discussion of how each theory differs in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He strangled her, cut her up into little pieces, and devoured her. Fish said that he got the idea of cannibalism from his uncle in 1894, which was never verified. His uncle, Captain John Daus, sailed to China during the time of a famine. Children were sold to be butchered. They were brought out in parts to be cut to one s choosing and sold as veal. The captain told his nephew human meat did taste of veal, and the behind was the sweetest part. The captain stole two children to bring home with him. He beat their behinds for days, while they were still alive, to make it nice and tender. Albert Fish decided he had to try it. Not only did the environment in which he grew up shape Albert Fish, it is believed that his genetic influences may have had a huge impact as well. His family had a history of mental illness: his uncle suffered from religious mania, a brother was confined in the state mental hospital, another brother had died of hydrocephalus and his sister had a mental affliction . Three other close relatives suffered from severe mental illnesses and his mother was believed to suffer frequent aural and/or visual hallucinations (Farlex, 2011). Albert Fish seems to fall in the postconventional moral development area of psychological development. Postconventional morality is how people reason using abstract, self defined moral principles that may not match conventional moral beliefs (Kowalski Western, 2009). Fish
  • 3. Columbine Incident Case Study Seventy two analogous cases. 89 killed. 126 injured. Every single shot fired was an indirect result of the Columbine shooting ( The Columbine effect, 2015). On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold opened fire on Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado with semiautomatic weapons and homemade bombs. The Columbine High Schoolattack was the worst school shooting in history which changed the way schools handle security and the way Americans react to gun control. The 2 teenagers that opened fire on Columbine High School planned the shooting for months before they actually attacked. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris started preparing for the attack in 1998 by collecting four different gun that friends had given them. Also, they made a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following the tragic event of the Columbine massacre, people throughout the United States were forced to think about the possibility that in the future a similar incident could occur near them (Marsico, 2011). Shortly after the shooting, students that went to Columbine High School began drinking and over 500 students began seeing the school counselor (Gibbs, Roche, Goldstein, Harrington, and Woodbury, 1999). Also, many survivors and families reported that after the shooting they began having a numb feeling in addition to getting depressed when the press asks questions. Seven parents and four students were interviewed and many said that about a half a month after the attack they began feeling negative and they looked for ways they could have prevented the shooting (Norris,
  • 4. Ancient Civilization And The Mayan People Every ancient civilization had a set of beliefs and the Mayan people were no different. The Mayan people believed in two worlds, the everyday world and the underworld, or the Place of Awe, (2012). The Mayans believed in many gods, human sacrifice and the burial process for the poor and the kings were very different. The Mayans became around 250 AD and the Olmec s influenced their religious culture. It was not until 900 AD that the Mayans began to flourish in cities across modern day Mexico, Guatemala and north Belize. One of the most important gods for the Mayans was the supreme god Itzamana, the creator god, the god of fire and god of the earth (2012). Itzamana is shown as a king who was in charge of minor gods. The God of Itzamana is connected to the sacred world tree, or Ceiba tree, which for the Maya linked together the sky, earth, and the underworld (2012). The Mayas believed in two worlds, the everyday world and the underworld or place of Awe. The Mayan people believed that gods, spirits and dead ancestors lived in the underworld. The person in charge of sending people to the underworld was the main chief. Unlike some religions, the belief of the underworld for the Mayans was very sad, dark, cold and a place where there where mean gods that would torment them (2015). The Maya believed super natural levels not as heaven and hell, but the upper, middle and underworld that consisted of many levels with the underworld being the lowest level. The Ceiba tree or

  • 6. Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On Potato Osmosis The data collected from this experiment demonstrates that the potato undergoes a hypotonic change when exposed to water as well as a hypertonic change when saturated in a sucrose solution. Throughout the experiment, each piece of potato was introduced to a different concentration of a sucrose and water solution. The sucrose solution, due to its density, did not enter the potato cells while the water was easily diffused into the cells through pores in their membranes. Water undergoes osmosisin situations where there is more solute in one area compared to another. It will then move towards the area with a higher concentrationof solute, in this case the cytoplasm, and thus leave the area with a lower concentration of solute, the test tube. The goal of osmosis is to find an equilibrium between the concentrations in both areas. In general, it was possible to determine which potatoes were hypertonic, isotonic or hypotonic based on their appearance. For instance, those in the highly concentrated sucrose solution were noticed to be smaller in size, more malleable, and not translucent. These observations show... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, test tube #0 and #4 both had an initial mass of 0.70g. The potato in test tube #0 experienced a 14% change in mass while the potato in test tube #4 merely had an 8.6% change in mass. This leads to the conclusion that the potatoes with a higher water concentration than sucrose solution are more hypotonic than those with a higher sucrose solution concentration. Moreover, according to the graph, when the line of best fit is considered, it is clear that the lowest sucrose molarity causes hypotonic results, the highest sucrose molarity causes hypertonic results and the midpoint or isotonic results were discovered to be in test tube #5, the 1:1 ratio of sucrose solution and

Johnson Great Society in the 1960 s had several policies, which led to some good outcomes and some not so much. New norms that guided and redefined administration organizations led to the development of schools and educators and to the courses offered for the students. The great society held instruction with less eagerness yet viewed as not that critical. Rather the great society concentrated on more positions globally and acquiring government relief. The New Dealwas to fix the unemployment by creating jobs and improve the economy. The Great Society was supporting Civil Rights, lower the unemployment, create a welfare state, and desegregation in education. The

  • 9. Marketing Iphone Q1: Apple faced with two main pricing decisions for its range of iPhones. The first one is a skimming price decision and the second one is a penetration pricing decision. 1. Skimming price decision When Apple first launched the new iPhone 3GS, it made a skimming price decision which means it aims to sell to the top of the market and focuses on maximizing profits in short term so it could recover the research and development costs. 2. Penetration pricing decision As the iPhones have moved through their product life cycle (from the introduction to the growth or maturity stage) Apple adopted a penetration pricing strategy which means selling products at very low price to attract more customers. The rationale behind this decision was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Target costing one type of the demand based pricing. Apple could first use market research such as consumer surveys to identify the customers requirements of the quality and features of the product and their perception of a fair price before the product is designed. 3. Trial pricing Apple could price the new iPhone at a low price for a limited period of time to attract customers. This strategy can help the company to get customer acceptance at the initial period and then bring profits by increasing the price. Q4: As far as I am concerned, I would recommend skimming price and trial pricing strategy to Apple during its introduction stage of its product life cycle. When Apple moves into the growth or maturity stage of life cycle, I would recommend the penetration pricing strategy. In terms of a skimming price decision if Apple doesn t know much about the customer demand for its new product it would be useful. The reason is that it is safer to start with a high price, which can be reduced if customers initially refuse to purchase. In this case, as Apple s senior vice president said the new iPhone 3GS has some unique competitive advantages in the phone market such as the wide range of applications and faster load time. These benefits make many customers feel they must have it no matter what the costs, that is to say, during the introductory stage of the new product, the demand is price
  • 10. Essay on Doppelganger and King Kong English Speech Introduction: Good morning/afternoon class and *teacher*, today I will be speaking about how Michael Parker, the author of Doppelganger and Peter Jackson, the director of the film King Kong, accurately portray the main concept of the Beast Within through the symbolism of masks and the notions of betrayal and duplicity. I will be talking about Josh and Andrew from Doppelganger, Carl Denham and the people that he manipulated and affected through his deception, from King Kong and explain their contributions to the main idea of the Beast Within, how they wear a mask and how they portray the concepts of Duplicity and Betrayal. Body Paragraph 1: (Doppelganger) In Parker s novel, Doppelganger, a key character, Josh, shows that he has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that Josh gave Andrew the QZ45 meant that there is now a whole new series of events that affect the storyline; Andrew ends up killing boy because the QZ45 has a mental and physical effect, where the taker feels ready to fight or kill . In this case, boy makes Andrew angry, by slashing him with a knife during the chase in the tunnels, and Andrew goes on a crazy rampage and kills boy. Andrew soon becomes very guilty that he killed boy because he realises that in the normal Sydney boy is a kid named Derek, who dies in a car crash, which makes Andrew logically believe that if one person is killed in the Dystopic Sydney, this same happening will reflect in a slightly different manner, in the normal Sydney. Josh also demonstrates the concept of the Beast Within through the plain evil of what he did to Andrew, the evil intentions of Josh were the reason why he did it, it wasn t to save anyone s life, like Andrew ends up doing later on in the text, but it was all part of Josh s scheme to become the owner of the metsin factory so that he could become the richest and most famous person in the Dystopic Sydney, he was willing to kill many people to get his desire and he managed to get a whole gang of hallboys to listen to him and do it. Body Paragraph 2: (King Kong): In the film, King Kong, Ann Darrow, a key character, is first seen as a nice girl who is
  • 11. Shepherd s Clinic Journal Paper Clinical Journal Entry # 5: Shepherd s Clinic Hours: 25.50 hours On this day, I presented my education presentation Nutrition for High Blood Pressure at Shepherd s Clinics to patients and clients at the wellness center. I chose this topic due to the high number of patients that report to the clinic with a diagnosis of hypertension. For example, since beginning my practicum at the site, I took a tally of those with high blood pressure. More than half the patients being seen by a provider each day had high blood pressure. In addition to the patients seen at the clinic, in the United States the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 75 million Americans have high blood pressure (High Blood Pressure Fact Sheet, 2016). Given these facts I wanted to address one big factor in reducing the risks of high blood pressure and reducing the risk of developing heart disease and other health risk. This factor is nutrition, as food plays a major role in managing diseases like blood pressure and diabetes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, I drove around the neighborhood previously looking for healthy food choices at an affordable price. However, I found that around the clinic, there were not many healthy food options in walking distance. For example, Hillen Grocery store, a convenient store that sells snack options is located eleven minutes walking distance from the clinic. Giant food market, which serves more healthier options at a high price range, is located eighteen minutes walking distance from the clinic. Because of this reason, I provided patients at the clinic with alternatives to remedy the problem. Besides teaching them how to replace meals, I also gave them information about virtual supermarkets provided through the program Healthy Baltimore
  • 12. The Studies Of Music And How It May Not Help The Alzheimer... In order to understand how the studies of music and how it may or may not help the Alzheimer s disease (AD) one would need the background of it. AD is a progressive neurological disease that leads to deterioration in cognitive abilities. People with AD encounter a progressive decline in their neurological capabilities, which manifest in languagedeficits, among other cognitive difficulties. The main failures in speech include naming difficulties, verbal fluency deficit, comprehension problems, and deterioration of spontaneous speech. People with AD tend to have discourse deficits, which include empty phrases, indefinite words, and repetitions. The speech of a person with the deficits is difficult for an interlocutor to follow. Thus, theses progressive language failures can lead people with AD to isolation. Due to their progressive inability to communicate, people with AD need interventions that address their communication needs and help prevent social isolation (Dass, A., Amir, D. 2014). Increased social interaction can improve quality of life by enabling people with AD to remain socially engaged. Communication trainings include active instruction such as role playing and analyzing video observations of conversations with people with AD. Computer based systems are also used, providing multimedia stimuli. Reminiscence therapy uses the intact long term memory that enabling people with AD to engage in a conversation about their past experiences (Dass, A., Amir, D.
  • 13. Current Chief Warrant Officer ( Cwo ) Eligibility... 1.Current Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) eligibility requirements allow E 6 applicants to compete for CWO. The eligibility requirements not only allow for the eligibility of an E 6, but loose standards for E 7, E 8, and E 9 exist as well. This allows for a nonstandard means of leadership opportunities and unequal qualification standards. Therefore, CWO requirements need to be changed. 2.IAW ref (a), E 6 applicants that placed in the top 50% of their perspective E 7 Service Wide Exam (SWE) and have a minimum of 8 years active service are eligible to compete for CWO appointment. By definition and again IAW ref (a), CWO s are commissioned officers and must be mature individuals with appropriate education and specialty experience and require strong leadership skills . IAW ref (b) there is 118 CWO applicants above the cut to promote the CWO2 on 01 JUNE 2017. Of those 118, 9 are of the E 6 pay grade, and 4 more E 6 s are just one place below the cut and have a very good chance to promote to CWO. This adds up to approximately 7.6% 10% of the new CWO workforce will be of the E 6 pay grade. Though some E 6s may have the technical skills required as per ref (a), the one week Leadership and Management School (LAMS) that many E 6 s attended at sometimes the third class petty officer level does not lay the foundation of strong leadership that one would receive through attendance to the Chief Petty Officer Academy (CPOA). This means that the E 6 that is selected for CWO
  • 14. Romeo And Juliet Gender Roles Essay In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, William Shakespeare defines gender roles as traditional, however he challenges it by making the main characters non traditional. He writes all the men , like capulet, and the kingsmen in the play as traditional male gender role. All except for Romeo, who he writes as a non male like genderrole. For the women in the play; the nurse, lady capulet, and juliet, he writes them as non typical gender roles. Throughout the short story Poe makes the theme clear by illustrating that fears can be overcome as long as you focus on the darkest parts in life. Poe demonstrates the theme through conflicts with the narrator and his fear. During the short story, the narrator is absorbed by his fear. The narrator has a medical disorder called catalepsy. This physical condition can make a person not move or speak for several hour or even months. This condition haunts him everyday. I was put in a situation to leave my home country and pursue soccer. I feared that nothing would go right and the kids would be much better than me. Constant thoughts of leaving friends and family for nothing ran through my head. On the plane ride to Portugal which was my destination for soccer I could not sleep. Like the narrator is The Premature Burial this fear put me in complete distress . The first couple days all i thought about was failing and having to go home and explain to everyone that I was not good enough or strong enough to stay away. I later on faced my fear by going to the first practice. Once I started playing every thought of fear escaped my mind. I realized that my imagination is what kept me limited to succeed. After the practice I got good news from the coaches and offered a spot on the team. Like the narrator, my fear was overcome by experiences. With my fear overcome, living in Portugal is not so bad. Without the reminder of my fear, I am enjoying my stay and starting to feel grateful for this opportunity. In my life experience and poe s short story, fear is present but can be tamed to a better and happier

God has power over two people he creates in the story of Genesis. The product of both creators are also extremely alike, Truman showing a lot of qualities that Adam shows. The two creators differ in ways of control and their decisions made. Although they have differences, there are many parallels to how they handle their power over their creations. One of the main points of similarity include where the main story is the set. In The Truman Show, the director, Christof, creates a real building in the shape of a dome and names it Seahaven. In the bible God made a dome and named it sky. Both stories show a perfectly clean and perfect place for the main characters to live. The dome in The Truman show is shown to be a stereotypically clean, small American town. Similarly, the dome in the bible is shown as a beautiful place to live filled with everything someone living there could need. A fear is sometimes unovercomable and this may be because to overcome it one must be a certain characteristic. For example, to overcome the fearof ugliness one must lose weight and sometimes acquire surgery. My greatest fear is the idea of drowningand this is a fear of many. Fear of drowning is my greatest fear because when I was eight I drowned in a clear, blue, treacherous pool by the hotel with the dark burgundy colored brick and cream colored doors. I remember my cousins laugh whenever someone went the wrong way as they were playing marco polo. The Soviet withdrawal, ultimately, led to a civil war among local warlords and created a vacuum of power for the Talibanto emerge. There are many variables for why the Taliban emerged, such as: rape, lack of government, looting, warlords, the misery of Afghan citizens, which all prompted the Taliban to disarm local populations and impose Sharia law. Mullah Omar, the leader of the Taliban, looked at the rape and the murder of boys, specifically, as a primary reason to form the Taliban (Akbar, 2015, pp.213 216). Thus it seems that the Taliban emerged as the legitimate representative of Afghanistanin the 1990s. The aim is to maintain possession to try and create opportunities to score to win the game. When I m going to pass the ball I make sure that I use the correct technique when deciding to play a certain pass. During a gameI would use the inside of my strong foot (left), keeping the ball low when performing a short pass. However, when I m going to play a longer pass or switching the ball I would use the laces on my boot technique by drilling the ball to another teammate judging the weight and height of the pass depending on the distance away from him. Also I would make sure that I stay very calm and composed so that I don t make any errors or hesitate. Anther, strong physical aspect of my game would be my cardiovascular endurance, which enables me to play to the full 90 minutes and beyond. Argumentative Essay On Utilitarianism UTILITARIANISM I think that the topic of Utilitarianism is interesting to me since I find myself using the greatest happiness principle throughout an everyday basis.Utilitarianism is defined as the ethical doctrine that virtue is based on utility.Utilitarianism is essentially whichever action creates the most happiness for the greatest number of people is the right answer. People have considered utilitarianism controversial since not everyone agrees that the greatest happiness principle leads to the right choice, but rather to the wrong decision. The way that we approach this issue could potentially have severe consequences, on issues like immigration reform, campus carry, etc, if not agreed upon with the use of the greatest happiness principle. In this argumentative paper, I will argue that using utilitarianism and the greatest happiness principle would lead to the to the right decision. I place confidence in my decision that the use of utilitarianism and the greatest happiness principle leads us to the right decision, because it is evident as an effective result for contemporary moral issues such as; immigration reform, campus carry, and capital punishment. Before I explain my reasoning into why my position in the argument is correct, I would like to explain the key words that I will be using throughout the argumentative paper. For one, utilitarianism states that a positive value is happiness and negative value is suffering . Another term that I will be mentioning often throughout the essay is the Greatest Happiness Principle . This greatest happiness principle states that the morally right action maximizes happiness and minimizes suffering for everyone affected, considered equally .The greatest happiness principle is impartial which means that no one s happiness or suffering is more important than anyone else s . Those who decide between which pleasures are higher and lower are those who have tried both ( also know as the competent judges). These competent judges will tend to prefer the higher pleasure.Their decisions are influence on which option creates the most amount of happiness and the least amount of suffering. I believe people should accept the use of the greatest happiness principle to find the
  • 37. Apathy Definition Before infrastructure, before wildlife, before the oceans, and before the sun, was the one specimen that created all that came prior: the human brain. The brain, in all its intricacy and wonder, can cause the greatest pain and the greatest success. The very framework the brain embodies succumbs to its purpose of formulating ideas or creating makeshift plans to haphazardly carry out. Humans, the most complex of all creatures in the world, exemplify the notion of using their brains for creativity, critical thinking, and extreme to moderate emotional ranges. However, with this intellectual power, comes great opposition, as man s greatest obstacle has become overcoming his emotional severity to utilize his mind s sole purpose: rational thinking.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although apathy is accredited to the intricacy of the human brain and how it absorbs immediate content, apathy is strictly unaffordable. The limitations the brain asserts on humanity is unaffordable. Due to the instability of the environment s future, the rising sea level must be made a very steady danger. People must be made highly aware of the threats, implications, possibilities, and immediacies, through any mechanism they encounter with, may it be through news stations or media outlets. The strength of unity among humans must be depended upon to eradicate apathy. Science has spoken, the environment has lectured, and the ocean will soon shout. Time is not on the planet s side, and apathy quickens the pace of absolute destruction. Climate change is not a hopeless cause, as long as the looming culmination of the rising sea level is not hidden away by the thunderous and covert operations through ennui and lack of involvement by the human race. Neutral plasticity is a real component of the brain s gift that keeps on giving, and humans can initiate change in their own minds and create their own neural networks. Connections can be made and destroyed, and responses can be manipulated in response to new situations and changes in the environment. The preceding solutions to apathy only prove how flexible and revolutionary the human brain can be in times of

As he left the dining hall, it collapsed behind him. During the excavation of the rubble, Simonides was called upon to name each guest killed. Though their bodies had been crushed beyond recognition, he was able to identify them by recalling their positions (loci in Latin) at the table. Later, Simonides used this experience to develop the method of loci, a technique for memorizing. • 40. Challenges Faced By Senior Management INTRODUCTION The business environment of today is complex; thereby faster decisions have to be made and better allocation of resource is essential with a clearer focus of the future. This poses a major problem to senior management because organizations consist of a changing mix of large and small projects which brings new challenges in prioritization of projects, resource planning and monitoring (Elonen and Artto, 2003). According to Engwall and Jerbant (2003) cited in Kaizer et al., 2015, the number of available project alternatives far outnumber the projects an organization can handle at a given time with its limited resources, and making the right choice from all these alternatives is rarely easy. Mankins and Steele (2005) cited in Meskendahl (2010) posits that only 63% of strategies potential values are realized by firms and Johnson (2004) cited in Meskendahl (2010) reveals that about 66% of corporate strategy is never realised. Nonetheless, Hrebiniak (2006) cited in Meskendahl (2010) states that making strategy work is more difficult than making strategy itself. In other words, it is difficult for firms to put strategy into action. This is where Project portfolio management (PPM) comes in. Building on this, the aim of this essay is to evaluate PPM elements in an organization, discuss the tools and criteria used to support the decision making and evaluation of project success, and consider the significance of PPM for other organizations that may want to consider it.

The two couples are Benedick and Beatrice, an unpredicted match as they appear to be quite the opposite and are forever arguing in their poetic banter. I think he combines everything Shakespeare seems to like in a character; he is amusing (his witty banter with Beatrice is where most of the humour in this play revolves around) and he is also able to laugh at himself he takes in good humour like the teasing of his friends about his cynicism about matrimony. He is loving too, (an example of this is his poem to Beatrice) and also deadly serious is his love for her he renounces his male comradeship to kill Claudio as she demands he is prepared to give up his current, enjoyable way of life for her. He is also loyal to the prince, in that he despises Don John, but he is most loyal to the one he loves, something the majority of Shakespearean heroes personify (even those who go astray eventually return to their love Romeo never wavers from his purpose in loving Juliet). His relationship with Beatrice is another ideal held up to us by the playwright. Beatrice chooses Benedick, she pleases herself, not her family, and as a result, their relationship is much more equal and evenly balanced. It is this relationship, and not the other, quite stereotypical romance, which Shakespeare makes the main thread of this drama. He engages with Beatrice in a competition to outwit, out smart and out insult the other, but to his observant friends, he seems to feel some deeper emotion below the

  • 48. Difference Between The Rich Get Rich And The Poor Get Poorer The rich get rich and the poor get poorer. Essentially this is the view that Marx and Engels had on social economic status. There is a polarization of classes, in that there is a division of groups, the rich and the poor. However not much has changed today. The rich help the rich, and the poor in a sense also help the rich, but no one seems to care to help the poor. Even in times of natural catastrophes the poor undoubtedly suffer the most with little help from anyone. The state only helps the ruling class and protects big corporations. Even with decades of warning of the possible flooding that could happen from the after math of Hurricane Harvey, corporations chose to ignore all warnings and took no action to prepare if a natural disaster were to happen. Marx and Engels would see that their theories are still relevant today. There is still a social and economic inequality between classes. The poor and marginalized suffer the most. Marx and Engels propose that the class in control of the material production also controls the mental production The ideas of the ruling class are in every epoch the ruling ideas, i.e. the class which is the ruling material force of society, is at the same time I ts ruling intellectual force. The class which has the means of material production at its disposal, has control at the same time over the means of mental production, so that thereby, generally speaking, the ideas of those who lack the means of mental production are subject to it (Marx, 172). Those in the top class are in charge and ruling everyone else. They re the ones who have a say and the power over others. The corporations not only ignored the warnings for the flood they also fought against having to take any precautions in case the natural disaster did happen. The flood itself could not have been prevented, but the amount of damage and the people harmed could have been kept at a minimal. Marx stresses that the economic production, the base, is what shapes the prevailing ideas, the superstructure, and this economic structure is what drives society. The rich take everything they can from the poor and are nowhere in sight when they are in need of help. They state the reason people are poor is because of their own
