Strange Death of Silas Deane
The Strange Death of Silas Deane by James West Davison and Mark Hamilton Lytle creates a new
perspective on what people see history as. Although many people would define history as something
that happened in the past, through The Strange Death of Silas Deane , the authors demonstrate that this
everyday view on history can be profoundly misleading.
In the section, An Untimely Death , the author explains the key events of Deane s life and his death.
Silas Deane began his life as the son of a humble blacksmith in Groton, Connecticut (16). He went
from rags to riches as he graduated from Yale College and opened up a practice. Deane married,
divorced, and married again. He wasn t happy being a businessman so he entered politics. He ... Show

His story reveals a lot about himself as well as Deane. The reason why Deane contacted Bancroft
when he was going to England was so Congress s Committee of Secret Correspondence had a good
source of information about British war plans (23). As mentioned earlier, Arthur Lee did accuse Deane
of using his position to make a profit for himself, but that was just an accusation up until now.
Apparently Deane was

United States Flag Essay
The very first flag for the United States to have was the Grand Union Flag, in the years 1775 1777.
The design of this flag was thirteen red and white stripes, with the red cross of St. Georgia, England
along with the white cross of St. Andrew, Scotland in a blue field. The final split between the between
the colonies and Great Britain brought the removal of the British Union from our flag. Shortly after
came the stars on a blue field. By June 14, 1777 the Flag Resolution was passed, which is now known
as Flag Day. Which basically said that the United States flag had to have thirteen stripes being red and
white; that the union have 13 stars that are white with a blue field. Then, came Francis Hopkinsons
design of the United States Flag. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They thought that the stars were taken from the sky, the red was influenced from the British colors,
and the white demonstrated withdrawing from the home country. As for the book Our Flag the white
means purity and innocence, red means hardiness and valour, and blue means vigilance, perseverance,
and justice. The design of the flag however does have a meaning. The stars symbolize the heavens.
Having fifty of the stars, represents the fifty states of the United States today. The stripes symbolize
the rays of sunlight radiating from the sun. Having thirteen of the stripes, represents the thirteen
colonies that proclaimed independence for Great Britain to form the United States. However, the
United States has had many different designs of the flag. With more states being added, it would be
difficult to not create new flag designs. In the year 1795 Vermont and Kentucky were added, which
caused the stars and stripes to raise to 15 instead of 13. In the years 1796 through 1817 the states
Tennessee, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, and Mississippi joined the United States. Then the Act of April
4, 1818 called for 13 stripes and a star for each state. December in the year 1818 Illinois joined, which
added another star to the flag. In 1819 and 1820 two states were added, adding two more stars. In
August 1821 Missouri joined, adding another star. In the year 1836 Arkansas joined. In 1837
Michigan joined. In 1845 Florida and Texas joined. In

Aristotle s Views On Life
One of the philosophers I will choose to analyze will be Aristotle. Aristotle believes that people should
always participate in the city state, and only by being the citizen can a person lead and pursue a life of
good quality because he believed that that was the main focus and reason of human life. Although he
was a great philosopher, one of the ideas that I chose to discuss was that he believed slaves were
necessary to the functionality of a good and working society, and that man is only fully rational if he
participates in the city. This would mean that even as a slave, you should be the best slave you could
be because you are helping the city thrive however you are in the lowest level. Aristotle believes that
men should be in power, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that Aristotle wanted to be seen and recognized for his works in everyday life. He wants
people to do the best they can in what they do so they can receive merit for it. You can only be truly
happy if you are involved in a life that is fully lived mature and refreshing. I feel like participating in
the city state is your own choice.
Aristotle identified three types of relationships that rule a household: Master slave, parent child, and
husband wife. The husband wife represented reproduction, the parent child represented education, and
the master slave represented self preservation. Aristotle defends slavery with this concept by basically
saying that for one option, there is an opposite option: If there is a male, there is a female. He says that
nature is made up of things that need to have rule over them, and rulers. He states that some people, by
nature, are slaves and some people are masters. He also tries to argue this by saying that slavery is
natural because the pattern is found in other aspects hence, husband/wife, rational/irrational,
parent/child, etc. He feels that it is unjust to enslave through means of war because those people are
not natural slaves. Aristotle believes that if it is natural for a king to rule over his people, then a master
should rule over his slave because the slave helps increase the master s livelihood. The same idea

Children Of Dune Analysis
Children of Dune
Is it wise to save somebody, but harm them in the process. Frank Herbert s Children of Dune explores
this idea. Leto, the boy who will soon be emperor, has a vision of the future in which he believes that
he can save humanity from destruction, but would harm them in the process. He intends to lead
humanity along a Golden Path , but will have readers questioning if he will do more harm than good.
Despite the fact that Leto s intentions are good, he is actually evil.
Leto begins his path to ruling the universe by destroying the changing ecology of Arrakis, the main
planet in the empire. The ecology is being changed so that the planet will be more livable, because it is
brutal desert planet. Tomorrow I ll raid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To do this he believes that he must become a tyrant. And I beheld another beast coming up out of the
sand; and he had two horns like a lamb, but his mouth was fanged and fiery as the dragon and his
body shimmered and burned with great heat while it did hiss like the serpent revised Bible (Herbert).
This passage from the revised Bible of Dune is a foreshadowing to Leto rising up as the emperor,
because is is an almost exact description of a sandworm. The natives of the planet worship the
sandworms as a physical representation of God, and Leto makes himself partially sandworm in the
book. Leto does another act of evil by proclaiming himself to be a god. Leto knows that he will be a
brutal ruler, and that it will be hard for humanity to survive. Leto told his father, Paul Your jihad will
be a summer picnic on Caladan by comparison (Herbert). Pauls jihad was a successful attempt to
make his rule absolute, but it caused the death of 61 billion people. Leto understands what his rule will
do, but he will continue anyways. Leto knows he will be a tyrant, and shows that he is evil by
continuing anyways.
Despite being the protagonist of the novel, Leto is really a villain. He believes that by being a tyrant,
he can benefit all of humanity. To him, the billions of deaths, the disruption of a planet s
transformation, and him wanting to be a god show that he is inherently evil. He believes that he can
save humanity by oppressing and harming them. Leto is the true villain of Children of

World War I And The United States Essay
World War I was unlike any other war before it. The total casualties reached about about 38 million,
with over 17 million deaths, 7 million of them being civilians, and 20 million wounded. World War I
was well known for the extensive system of trenches from which men of both sides fought, the lethal
new technologies unleashed such as poison gas, and for the battles under the sea and in the skies. At
first, the two sides consisted of the Allies: France, Britain, and Russia, against the Central Powers:
Germany, Austria Hungary, and Turkey. As the war carried on however, the tides turned towards the
Central Powers. Needing help, the Allies turned towards America for assistance. The United States
however, were very reluctant at first, sticking to their public policies. Trading with both sides of the
belligerents, the United States did not want to halt their booming economy, and the large number of
protests by immigrant citizens made joining the war even less desirable. It was only after Britain s
decision to blockade Germany, Germany s announcement to resume unrestricted submarine warfare,
and the British discovery of the Zimmerman Telegram that the United States finally decided to join the
war. When World War I began, The United States made it clear that they didn t want to be involved in
the war, and maintained their neutrality. Isolationism was a long American tradition, embraced since
the earliest days of the country. In fact, during the century following the signing

shows in a positive way in our performance. In Netball good footwork is essential, and quick reaction,
as the maximum time you are allowed possession of the ball is three seconds. We need to know our
ability and how far we can go. A skilful player will have confidence, which can help to avoid injury.
Apart from shooting, the primary skills of netball are throwing and catching. There are 3 different
passes that are most commonly made in netball, The Chest pass, The shoulder pass and The bounce
pass, these are all used constantly in a game off netball. A player may step with the other foot in any
direction any number if times, pivoting on the landing foot. The pivoting foot may be lifted, but the
player must throw or should before regrounding their foot. If this rule is broken the player must then
be penalised, the ball is given to the opponent for a free pass , because a foot fault has taken place.

Trainers should be worn, if the sole is wider than the ankle it will give your ankles more support and

Robert E. Lee s Military Career
Robert Edward Lee was born in Stratford, Virginia on January 19, 1807 to an aristocratic family. His
parents both played a major role in Lee s success. His mother Ann Hill Carter descended from a
wealthy family while his father Colonel Henry Lee, served as a cavalry leader during the
Revolutionary War. At a young age his father passed away, and his leadership roles were challenged.
He was one of the six men in his family and had to help support the household. At eighteen he
attended West Point MIlitary Academy, where he excelled in artillery, infantry and cavalry. Shortly
after his mother s passing in 1829, Lee was appointed to second lieutenant in the U.S. Military Corps
of Engineers. He began courting Mary Curtis who is a member of the Virginia s aristocracy. After
getting Mr. Curtis s approval they get married and have seven children together. As the Mexican
American war began, Lee was presented with an amazing opportunity that would be one of his
highlights in his military career. On October 12, 1846 he entered Mexico under General John E. Wool
as a staff engineer, where he managed the building and repairing of roads for over 600 miles. About a
year later, Lee received orders from General Winfield Scott to hold the position as chief engineer.

Number Two Effect
Number one was one that had a lot of emotional impact that was taking place throughout the duration
of the song. It expressed a tone color that was orange and very intense. There was a lot of conflict that
was taking place between Ruth and Fredrick during this time. The melody showed pitches that made
up the different parts of the song. For example, both Ruth and Fredrick take turns on who takes the
melody of the song depending on who is dominant at certain points of the song. Fredrick is more
dominant and the beginning and then Ruth takes the attention later on. Harmony took place as Ruth
and Fredrick are singing different parts at the same time and the tones are sounding simultaneously.
With this, at the intense parts there are dissonances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was a tone color of purple because it was very shocking what was being said, but the paradox
part got very upbeat. This part of the story was very surprising and something that I was no expecting.
The melody that was used in number two was used by expressing different pitches. This in relation
into which one of the character was singing at the time. During the duration of this song, the
performers were the Pirate King, Frederick, and Ruth. In coalition to this, the harmony are the sounds
that were sounding simultaneously and throughout this song, the performers would sing together.
There were also times were Ruth was in more of the background which was used to create a different
melody. They also used rhythms that are known throughout the song. For example, at one point it
sounds like a circus theme song. This is used to show how this scene is intended to be one where there
is humor expressed. They are laughing and enjoying the time because Frederick is finding out that
because he was born on Leap Year he is actually only five years old. The meter that was used in song
number two was one that fluctuated depending on what the song was saying. There was no set meter
that it was focused on being. For this song, the texture is also polyphonic because they are singing the
part about paradox at the same time and it shares importance with one another. The dynamics are used
in this song when the crescendos are placed to

Definition Of Funny Essay
In the quote from Mark Twain, Show me a man who knows what s funny, and I ll show you a man
who knows what s not , there is one word in particular that I would like to focus on. Funny. We all
know what funny means, something that causes you to laugh, something that s humorous. But, what
exactly falls under that definition? That s something you can t specifically decide. With so many
factors going into it, including an individual s personality, the area, the time, and more, finding
something that everyone believes to be funny would be hard.
For me specifically, the word funny brings to mind jokes I ve heard or read in my mind. More
specifically, I picture chickens crossing roads, cows interrupting conversations, and a variety of
different people and items knocking on doors. However, you may associate very different ideas with
the word. My father and sister both find it extremely hilarious to watch other people undergo harm,
while one of my best friends finds humor in making statements that have no blatantly obvious
connection with the current conversation and often don t make grammatical sense. Everyone has their
own sense of humor just as everyone has their own favorite colors, whilst some may be the same, ...

So, how did these social groups come to exist between people that conflict in such a major area of
their lives? When confronted with divergent opinions or ideas we either diminish and dismiss them or
we adapt and accept them, although the latter occurs more frequently. Simply put, humans are
extremely flexible in their behavior and quickly conform to what is prevalent around them. This is
seen in every aspect of our lives, from clothing trends to language norms and even in popular methods
of amusement. So, as seen in any social construct, when we are in different situations we adjust to fit

The Will To Believe Is A Philosophical Essay Written By
The Will to Believe is a philosophical essay written by William James. In the book, James focused on
the concepts of genuine choice and forced beliefs. His argument is that individuals have choices to
believe; however, those choices are shaped around facts and forced beliefs. He also argues on religious
hypotheses and the concept of belief without reason.
The first problem James tackles is genuine options. He disagrees with Clifford on the idea of genuine
options. He believes that there are certain things which we cannot wait for efficient evidence before
we make a claim. Those things are the ones where religious faith is intellectually acceptable. He states
that genuine belief is living, forced and momentous. A living belief will be ... Show more content on

We are supposed to gain, even now, by our belief, and to lose by our non belief (James 136).
According to James, science says things are, morality says things are better than other things, and
religion says essentially two things. Firstly, she says things that the best things are the more eternal
things (...) the things in the universe that throw the last stone (James 136). The second one states that
we are better off if we believe her first affirmation to be true.
Furthermore, religion is momentous force because the answer to these religious force is all up to you,
there is no intellectual ground to answer the questions. Therefore, James is saying, if you are a theist,
there is nothing wrong in choosing to believe that there is a God, also, if you are atheist, there is
nothing wrong in choosing to believe there is no God. This is because it takes as much faith to say
there is no God as that there is a God. Therefore, according to James, we can believe or not believe
based on our irrational passions alone.
In addition, James lays out the problem of choosing to believe. He argues that people are inherent
believers by nature and that they do not choose to believe.
There are some flaws in James argument. Firstly, his claim that belief in God is live, forced and
momentous and cannot be decided on intellectual means. The question of whether God is live has only
to do with the individual. There are some theists that are so dogmatist that they would

Problems had occurred do to classism. Class war fair still exists to a degree in todays society.
The upper class consisted of royalty, Dukes, Nobles, Aristocrats, and other wealthy families. People
who belonged to the upper class had a better way of life than most. People in the upper class never had
to worry about money. Tutors aided in the education of the upper hierarchy. Many people ran major
industries such as shipping or mining. With money being no object, many were able to purchase
imported goods from Europe. One of the goods were expensive clothing. This caused many to be

The pecking order model assumes that the distribution of informational asymmetry is homogeneous
across different industries. To examine the adequacy of the two assumptions under each theory, first
we classify firms into industries, using Fama and French industry classification; this enables us to
control for the nonhomogeneity of the firms characteristics across industries and the temporal
distribution of informational asymmetry among industries; second, we use a spline regression model
to test for the symmetric behavior assumption. The results show that the symmetrical rate of
adjustment assumption under the trade off model is rejected across all industries; firms tend to adjust
faster toward the target leverage when they are above the target relative to when they are below the
target leverage. We find no evidence to support the homogeneous coefficient across industries as the
adjustment rate varies significantly across industries. For the pecking order model, we reject the
symmetric behavior assumption at the industry level as well as across all industries. Firms have the
tendency to reduce debt by a significantly higher proportion when they have financing surplus
comparing to the proportion of debt issued when they have financing deficit.

Notes On Blaise Pascal s Theory Of The Classical Problem...
Blaise Pascal was born on June 19, 1623, in Clermont Ferrand, France to Etienne and Antoinette
Pascal. He was the only son having two sisters, Jacqueline and Gilberte. Blaise Pascal was a person of
many hats as he had different traits and talents that he acquired. Not only was he an important
mathematician, but also a philosopher, physicist, inventor, scientist, and theological writer. Pascal
made numerous contributions to a wide variety of studies that are still appreciated today including a
powerful influence on the development of modern economics, social science, and Pascal s Theorem.
Blaise Pascal is best known for his correspondence of 1654 with Fermat, which originated the theory
of probability. He was also the author of Traite du triangle arithmetique avec quelques autres petits
traites sur lameme matiere written in 1654. He included in his treatise separate tracts describing the
use of the Pascal s triangle in the theory of figurate numbers, the theory of combinations, the solution
of the classical problem of points in games of chance, and the derivation of the powers of binomials.
In 1631, Etienne moved his family to Paris minus his wife Antoinette who had passed away five years
prior. Etienne would make the decision to educate his children on his own keeping his focus
particularly on Blaise who was a child prodigy, his strong subjects being mathematics and science. At
only the age of 11, Blaise produced a short proof on the sound of vibrating bodies. Though

Great dynasties in Imperialistic China
Ancient China was always able to flourish as a powerful economic and imperialistic country. Behind
this great amount of early success were great dynasties that played great roles in China s history.
China has always been highly influenced by its great ancient dynasties. These dynasties were able to
establish monetary systems, road and canal systems for trade, and also build great elaborate historic
structures that still stand today. They also influenced different philosophies such as Taoism and

They also built a tomb for the emperor containing giant detailed sculptures of each one of his soldiers

another highly successful dynasty in Chinese history it covered over four centuries from 206 BC 220
AD and it is known as the Golden Age in Chinese history. They were considered this for many
reasons; they had the city of Chang an which was one of the two largest cities in the ancient world at
this time. The dynasty had a large growth in population and urbanization which allowed for an
increase of industry and trade which developed on the Silk Road routes. This ultimately led to an
increase in economic growth. This empire had Liu Bang ruling as the first emperor but under him they
had a bureaucracy so they also implemented a civil service exam to ensure the best people fit for the

Symptoms And Treatment Of Opioid Therapy
Introduction
In the United States alone it has been estimated that nearly 50 million people suffer from chronic pain.
However, chronic pain continues to be undermanaged with as many as 41% of patients reporting
uncontrolled pain 1. Poor pain management outcomes are due in large part to a lack of a
pharmacological intervention that is both efficacious for moderate to severe chronic pain and widely
tolerable. Currently, the most efficacious treatment for moderate to severe chronic pain is the use of
opioid agonists. Despite the efficacy of opioid therapy, in one survey 68% of physicians cited
concerns about adverse events as a barrier to prescription of opioids for the maintenance of chronic

that is comparable to morphine with a 50 fold decrease in binding affinity to μ opioid receptors1. The
ability of tapentadol to produce analgesia similar to that seen with classical opioids with considerably
lower binding affinity for µ opioid receptors at off target sites suggests that tapentadol treatment could
provide effective pain management while limiting adverse events.
Clinical efficacy of tapentadol for chronic pain management
The etiology of chronic pain is complex and may be due to a number of different factors. Current
therapeutics often fail to produce adequate analgesia for moderate to severe pain

The Experimental Life Analysis
The essays The Strenuous Life by Theodore Roosevelt and The Experimental Life by Randolph
Bourne present conflicting views on the ideal lifestyle. Roosevelt suggests that the only acceptable life
is one that involves progress through struggle and perseverance while Bourne claims that because life
is filled with uncertainty it is best to prepare and embrace it. While Roosevelt s and Bourne s
arguments greatly differ from each other, both offer valid pieces of advice on how to live a more ideal
lifestyle. Roosevelt s essay addressed the working class of America and the respect that he had for
them. He stated that he wanted to preach the highest form of success which comes not to the man who
desires mere easy peace, but to the man who does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

when comparing America to other countries or territories. London does this when contrasting the
primitive characteristics of Jees Uck to the advanced nature of Neil Bonner. London then goes on to

Rhetorical Reading Essay(Revision)
Since they started pouring the concrete for the dam Lake Powell has been a center of controversy.
From nature preservationists to ancient ruins advocates the subject has been heated and intense. On
the other hand, those who support Lake Powell are just as avid and active in their defense of the
reservoir. One of the former, Edward Abbey, sets forth his plea, hoping it does not fall upon deaf ears.
Abbey attempts in his article to help the reader visualize Glen Canyon before it was dammed up. He
uses a lot of pathos to help the reader feel the beauty of the previous Glen Canyon and the ugliness of
the present. His article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

wilderness (146) Were we to reverse the order and take out the connotations, it would be a great
statement supporting Lake Powell. Certainly it is no longer a wilderness, but it has a photogenic
backdrop of buttes and mesas, projecting above the expansive surface of waters where the speedboats,
houseboats and cabin cruisers play. One rhetorical strategy he uses fairly well is the omission of
details. I will be the first to admit that the creating of any reservoir will kill any life that it floods out,
which is obvious, but in this case I believe that the pros far outweigh the cons. Abbey used omission
of details to make it seem that the reservoir had killed all wildlife in that area and desolated the
environment, saying that after draining the dam, plant life will come back, [w]ith the renewal of plant
life will come the insects, the birds, the lizards, and snakes, the mammals. However, Lake Powell is
teeming with life. According to the Lake Powell website, it is home to over 170 species of birds, 800
different mammals and more that a dozen reptile species (Lake Powell). And anyone who has been
there will ask, if there is a slight lack of insects, which I am not sure

Unification Of Ancient Egypt
Settling along the banks of the Nile River, hunters gatherers evolved into subsistence agriculture. The
Egyptians had a unique and special bond with the Nile River which was the life source that made
Egypt function with great power. The Nile provided them everything they need from fertile soil and
fresh water, to rich hunting grounds with an endless supply of fish. Thanks to the river, Egypt grew
into a wealthy, vast mystical land. With that Egypt became a target to foreign invaders. To conquer
this land would prove to be difficult. Egypt s location was protected by the terrain surrounding the
city. You had in the north the Mediterranean Sea, west the Sahara Desert, east the Red Sea, in the
south Nubia, another city advanced like Egypt, and finally the Nile River running straight down
Egypt. With their land flourishing one may ask, why didn t Egypt want to expand and conquer new
territory? Simply because the Egyptians weren t interested. The
Nile provided everything that they needed. Expanding would mean trying to cross the Mediterranean
Sea, then the desert, as well as the Red Sea. Faced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Quality Solutions That Arise by Refining Ideas
Quality solutions that arise by refining ideas Original Issue The current issue is the lack of enough
storage in the studio apartment. There is a need to come up with some practical storage solutions as
the apartment has two (2) small closets and these are not enough for storing the person s belongings
and possessions. This makes the apartment look too crammed, and there are clothes strewed all over
the place, and there is no room for anything else. One cannot properly sort the dirty and clean clothes
as clothes usually get mixed up due to lack of enough storage space. There is no space for one to keep
a shoe rack, and that leads to shoes getting mixed up with the clothes. Initial Solution Screwing hooks
on the walls and running strings or ribbons on the hooks would reduce the clutter of things that are
strewn across the floor and would make good use of the vertical space and one can use the ribbons to
hang displays this would add creativity to the whole room. The other idea is to screw hooks on the
walls then attach a net on the hooks that would be used to store more stuff that are not used very often.
Using old wine crates, one can have additional storage space in the apartment. They allow one to
make good use of the vertical space without affecting the dà cor of the apartment. The wine crates
would be mounted on the walls or stacked one on top of the other. Critical Examination of Best

How Does Ray Bradbury Dehumanize Technology
In The Pedestrian by Ray Bradbury, the main character, Mr. Leonard Mead, takes off one night for his
usual walk through his technologically advanced neighborhood. Bradbury writes with the wildest of
imaginations turning the most common, inanimate objects into characters. One of his best works in
many critics opinions, The Pedestrian illustrates the potential dangers of our constantly progressing,
dehumanizing technology crazed world. Bradbury produces the images of computer driven police
cars, and people obtaining their common knowledge through their television sets. In The Pedestrian

that people remain indoors glued, and absorbed by their technology. As Mr. Mead continues to walk

to most, if not all highly suspicious and unusual. The lone police car in a town of three million stops

visualizes, As he passed the front window of the car he looked in. As he had expected, there was no

it. I also said no because there is a lot of new bad things that people put on the internet. Most people
that have gotten hurt by people on the internet have said things that aren t nice and hurtful to them. It
can cause those people that got hurt on the internet to make them lose their life because they can t deal
with the pain that they did to them. When you put something on the internet, you can never get it off

Introduction In this paper, a meaningful clinical event, regarding delayed medications, is examined.
The paper explores the importance of right time administration and explores the causative factors and
preventative measures of wrong time errors. As a final point, I describe how I would handle the
scenario differently after learning strategies to reduce late medication administrations, thus reducing
patient harm. Look Back/Elaborate During week five, I was assigned to two patients (A and B), one of
whom is a shared client (patient B) between me and a colleague. Strategically, my colleague and I

In the event, I felt distressed and frustrated because I failed to perform daily tasks on time, most
importantly medication administration. Furthermore, these emotions were heightened by feelings of
not being able to deliver the best possible care and thoughts of my nurses being disappointed in me
because of my poor performance. Essentially, these negative feelings arise from my values and beliefs
of being punctual and providing safe and high quality care. These values are shaped by my family and
profession as I was always disciplined and taught the importance of being on time and promoting
patient safety, respectively. Essentially, one significant key issue from the event previously discussed,
relates to my inability to deliver medications at the specified time. It is important to administer drugs
on time to maintain patient safety, since late medications may result in ineffective treatments and
unstable patient conditions. Analysis As previously mentioned, right time medication administration is
important to prevent patient harm. Medications are considered late when they are delivered beyond 30
minutes of the scheduled time or depending on the hospital policy. Certain medications, such as
antibiotics and Parkinson disease drugs, follow strict schedules to provide and maintain therapeutic
blood levels. In particular, antibiotics should be administered on time to prevent bacterial resistance

Paleolithic Vs Neolithic Research Paper
I would prefer living in the Paleolithic Era and the Neolithic Era.
One main reason is that the Paleolithic men were much healthier than the Neolithic men in the ways
that, Paleolithic men were foragers and they moved their food which led them to not staying in one
spot permanently. This means that sickness and diseases were not easily passed on. Unlike the
Neolithic men who did have permanent settlements and had illness passed around quite easily. Also it
says in the passage Old Stone Age vs. New Stone Age that The adoption of grains in the Neolithic era
coincided with a shortening of stature, thinner bones and crooked, cavity ridden teeth. Since
Paleolithic Era did not domesticated grains they only ate wild grains they were taller, ... Show more

They created created language by using symbolic language (using symbols or sounds to communicate)
and collective learning (telling other people about your discoveries so they can use it and the
information does not die). Although the Neolithic man did create some very important discoveries too
(the wheel, calendars, time keeping etc.) they would not have able to make these discoveries without
language.
Another reason is that the Paleolithic people had a healthy balanced diet. The Paleolithic people had a
main diet of meat, fruits, vegetables, and wild grains. Whereto the Neolithic people had a main diet of
wheat, yams, corn, rice, and maze. As we ve seen in paragraph one grains make your bones thinner,
decrease your height, and make you have crooked teeth. Therefore the Paleolithic people had a better
balanced diet which allowed them to be healthier.
My fourth reason is that you are a farmer (Neolithic) and one year you have bad weather and your
crops don t grow. Now you have very little if any food. That doesn t just effect a couple of people
though. That effect your whole clan or colony which can be a lot of people. Whereto if your a forager
(Paleolithic) and you don t have a permanent settlement then if one year you have bad weather you
don t need to stress about it because you can move like you do anyway for your

Resveratrol Attenuates Neuronal Apoptosis after Subarachnoid Hemorrhage via inhibiting the

with a few available effective treatments. Resveratrol (RES), a natural polyphenolic compound, has a
powerful anti apoptosis property. In addition, its neuroprotective effects has been exhibited in
neurodegenerative diseases, ischemic brain damage, and SAH. However, the underlying molecular
mechanism of RES in protecting against early brain injury (EBI) after SAH remains unclear. Our

Introduction Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), predominantly caused by a ruptured aneurysm, is a
devastating neurological disease that has a morbidity and mortality rate higher than 50% [1]. Early
brain injury (EBI) was reported as the primary cause of mortality and poor outcomes in SAH patients
[2 4]. Therefore, novel therapeutic strategies aiming at elucidating EBI after SAH are required. It has
been proven that a series of complex pathophysiological processes are involved in the pathogenesis of
EBI. Among them, neuronal apoptosis plays a vital role [3,5,6]. Therefore, preventing neuronal
apoptosis can be a prospective target to improve severe neurological deficits and outcomes in patients
with SAH. Resveratrol (trans 3, 4′, 5 trihydroxystilbene, RES), a natural polyphenolic compound
mainly found in grape skin and red wine, has attracted wide attention lately because of its antioxidant,
anti inflammation, anti aging, anti diabetes effects as well as control of cell cycle and apoptosis [7 9].
It has been proven that RES can cross the blood brain barrier (BBB) [10]. Previous studies have
shown that RES induced anti apoptosis in various diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular,
and neurodegenerative diseases [11 14]. Many investigators affirm that RES can reduce the neuronal
apoptosis, but very few reports are available regarding the underlying molecular mechanisms of
reducing neuronal

Case Study Of The Target Market For Picmeal

A Week I The Woods By Karl Maxwell Quotes
I really enjoyed the book A Week I the Woods by Andrew Clements. When a rich 5th grader, Mark
Chelmsely, realizes he must attend the field trip he decides that he is going to prove to his teacher, Mr.
Maxwell, that he isn t just a slacker. Instead he puts himself and Mr. Maxwell in a whole bunch of
danger. The main theme of this book is everybody deserves a second chance, because even when Mark
is very rude towards Mr. Maxwell they end up becoming friends in the end of the book. My first quote
shows that in the begging of the story Mr. Maxwell does not like Mark. The quote is But after 22 years
in the classroom, Mr. Maxwell could spot a slacker a mile away. And by Wednesday afternoon at the
end of his third class with mark he reached his decision: This new boy was a slacker (Clements 22). In
this quote it shows how Mr. Maxwell judges Mark and immediately dislikes him because of his
attitude. It only took Three days before Mr. Maxwell decides that he dislikes Mark. This relates to the
theme, everybody deserves a second chance, because it shows that one may not like a person at first
but it doesn t mean one should not give that person a second chance. ... Show more content on

You can prove that it is creative because a computer can t solve this equation, (a computer thinks
logically). Technically a computer could solve this equation but it could just tell you if they were equal
and not to the same level of accuracy. A computer would input a value for ? on both sides and if the
answer is equal then the equation is equal. The problem with this is that when you get into
trigonometry there could be a difference in the decilionth decimal place. A computer can t work with
the abstract which is what is in my example. A computer may take 2 seconds or a million years to find
an answer or it may give the wrong answer! The other point is that a computer can only perform
things in a certain order it can t guess or have a feeling about a question, which brings in the creative
aspect.
Another example happened during one of my Calculus classes that I believe to be the most abstract

Comparing Christian Bible And The New Testament
The Christian Bible is split into two divisions, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old
Testament, the first division, focuses mainly on the history of the creation of our world, specifically
the history and religion of the people of Israel. The second division, the New Testament, mainly
focuses on the life and religious teachings of Jesus and the beliefs of the Christian church. Although
the New Testament acts as an extension/continuation of the Old Testament, a main difference between
the two if the characterization of God and his relationship with humanity. In both divisions, although
God condemns those who are guilty of sinning and does so in a way that can often be seen as quite
wrathful, his loving side is depicted a lot more in the New Testament than in the Old Testament. ...

In the Old Testament, in the Creation Story (Genesis), God proves how vicious he can be with his
punishments when he punishes the serpent for allowing Eve to touch the tree of knowledge. The Bible
states, And the lord God said unto the serpent, because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all
cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the
days of thy life, (Gen. 3.14). Right then and there God exhibits his power over all living things. God
has a very strong opinion about the life that he s created and always has consequences for things that
he finds wrong with the world. In the Flood, while conversing with Noah, God says, The end of all
flesh is come before mel for the earth is filled with violence through them and, behold, I will destroy
them with the earth, (Gen. 6.13). The God being depicted in the Old Testament is very merciless and
seeks full divine judgment for all things he

The Discovery Of Down Syndrome
Down syndrome is a common disorder where the child gets an extra copy of the 21st chromosome. It
happens in every 691 babies born in the United States. This adds up to about 6,000 babies born with
the disorder a year. The major points in this paper are: when the disorder was discovered, the
symptoms, the lifespan, the medical treatments, if it is a dominant trait, what chromosome is affected,
and how it is passed down to offspring. The discovery of Down syndrome was by an English
physician named of John Langdon Down. He published a description of a person with Down
syndrome in 1866, and that earned him the title of The Father of Down syndrome. In 1959 a French
physician Jerome Lejeune discovered that the syndrome was actually a chromosomal condition. He
discovered that instead of the normal 46 chromosomes, Down syndrome patients have 47 with an
extra copy of 21. In 2000, a global team of scientists identified and catalogued each of the 329 genes
on chromosome 21. With all this new information scientists made large advancements in Down
syndrome research. There are many symptoms of Down syndrome. The symptoms that one can see
are: low muscle tone, smaller stature, an upward slant to the eyes, and a single deep crease across the
center of the palm. Down syndrome babies can be born normal size, but development is twice as slow
as a non Down s child. The mental side effects are: impulsive behavior, poor judgment, short attention

The Little Black Book Of Supervision Essay
In The Little Black Book Of Supervision , Chapter 4 of Managerial Skills, Gil Sargent stresses upon
the importance of planning and organizing in the workplace. The company s resources, personnel
time, tools and equipment should be managed properly. If these are not managed properly, then it can
cost a firm fortune (Sargent, 2003). It is, therefore, necessary that manager should put to use the time
and work study. It means how much time is taken to do a particular work while at a job. Once it is
done, employees should be told about managing time. A firm will not be able to achieve results if they
are not getting the equipment necessary to time. Before organizing, it is very essential to plan
beforehand. As planning is the first and foremost step. In planning one decides, what is to be done,
when is to do and how something is to be done. It controls the work. take note of the losses such as
time lost by employees, any material losses and equipment and tools losses. Most important thing to
note here is that scheduling is just assigning tasks. It does not mean that effective planning has been
done. The process of organizing begins from analyzing the work, then the plan has to be refined and at
the end implement the plan (Sargent, 2003).
Motivation is a key to get the work done from employees. Employees reward system decides to how
to keep the employee happy and motivated. These should be designed in a way that makes an
employee work on their own. Rewards system only work if

characters (excluding Ciel and Alois, they are gonna be for Luna which I am also going to share her
POV as I said in the last chapter. :D By the way, if you like vocaloid songs, you ll like this song! It s
been my favorite for a while now :D Today was the day after Sebastian informed me about the Ball
and the day before it begins. I promised myself that I wanted to improve my relationships with the
servants of the manor excluding Sebastian. So, what do I do? Help them, of course. Currently, I was
helping Finny trim the rose bushes. It was a really tedious task, because Finny said that Ciel likes only
white roses in the garden. It was awkward because we were too shy to think of anything to say. Hi
Finny, I finally spoke up, not taking my eyes off the rose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Really, all he needed was to chop up vegetables, get a pot to boiling level, drop the vegetables in, and
get some sort of ingredient to make the soup. I forgot which however.. but don t worry. Sebastian has
already made the soup part, we have to just chop up the vegetables and put it in the pot. Oy, Lily, what
vegetables do we need for this again? Baldroy asked, scratching the back of his head. I sighed. Boys
know nothing about cooking, except for Sebastian. We need carrots, cabbage, celery, onions, and
green beans. It s really healthy and delicious once we get it done.. Baldroy just looked at me with a
dumbfounded face. Wha, we need all that?! Can t we just use a flamethrower? It probably works the
same way without vegetables. I mentally sighed. Bard was being an idiot. Can you get them from the
cellar please? I asked, ignoring his previous statement. Alright. Baldroy headed in an unknown
direction and I watched him disappear. I leaned on the counter, waiting for him to come back. Soon
enough he did come back, carrying a sack with vegetables inside

Cannibalism And Ansazi Civilization Summary
The key or lead figure and researcher for the Cannibalism and Anasazi Civilization , was Dr. Christy
Turner (1933 2013). Dr. Turner was an anthropologist, who also taught classes at ASU (Arizona State
University). When Dr. Turner passed away in July of 2013 ASU made a touching statement on their
former employee, Turner was a prolific and influential researcher for more than 40 years. (ASU: In
memory) ASU also stated Dr. Turner had, His broad interests spanned the world and all four fields of
anthropology: physical anthropology, archaeology, linguistics and sociocultural anthropology. (ASU:
In memory. https://asunow.asu.edu/content/memory influential anthropologist christy g turner ii )
Dr. Christy Turner is known for unveiling the acts of cannibalism that had taken place in the Anasazi
civilization. According to an article in the LA Times, Dr. Turner had looked over 76 sites previously
excavated in 1893. These sites had shown signs of violence and possibly cannibalism. According to
Dr. Turner 38 out of the 76 sites, majority in the 90 mile radius from the Four Corners area,
approximately 286 people had been butchered and eaten. (LA Times:
http://articles.latimes.com/1998/dec/20/local/me 55814/2 ) Dr. Turner had a hard time due to the fact
that no one wants to believe that someone could do that to another person. Especially, from the Hopi
nation. The Hopi nation stated, arguing that the claim of cannibalism is a slanderous stain on their
ancestors. (LA Times:

  • 2. Strange Death of Silas Deane The Strange Death of Silas Deane by James West Davison and Mark Hamilton Lytle creates a new perspective on what people see history as. Although many people would define history as something that happened in the past, through The Strange Death of Silas Deane , the authors demonstrate that this everyday view on history can be profoundly misleading. In the section, An Untimely Death , the author explains the key events of Deane s life and his death. Silas Deane began his life as the son of a humble blacksmith in Groton, Connecticut (16). He went from rags to riches as he graduated from Yale College and opened up a practice. Deane married, divorced, and married again. He wasn t happy being a businessman so he entered politics. He ... • 4. United States Flag Essay The very first flag for the United States to have was the Grand Union Flag, in the years 1775 1777. The design of this flag was thirteen red and white stripes, with the red cross of St. Georgia, England along with the white cross of St. Andrew, Scotland in a blue field. The final split between the between the colonies and Great Britain brought the removal of the British Union from our flag. Shortly after came the stars on a blue field. By June 14, 1777 the Flag Resolution was passed, which is now known as Flag Day. Which basically said that the United States flag had to have thirteen stripes being red and white; that the union have 13 stars that are white with a blue field. Then, came Francis Hopkinsons design of the United States Flag. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They thought that the stars were taken from the sky, the red was influenced from the British colors, and the white demonstrated withdrawing from the home country. As for the book Our Flag the white means purity and innocence, red means hardiness and valour, and blue means vigilance, perseverance, and justice. The design of the flag however does have a meaning. The stars symbolize the heavens. Having fifty of the stars, represents the fifty states of the United States today. The stripes symbolize the rays of sunlight radiating from the sun. Having thirteen of the stripes, represents the thirteen colonies that proclaimed independence for Great Britain to form the United States. However, the United States has had many different designs of the flag. With more states being added, it would be difficult to not create new flag designs. In the year 1795 Vermont and Kentucky were added, which caused the stars and stripes to raise to 15 instead of 13. In the years 1796 through 1817 the states Tennessee, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, and Mississippi joined the United States. Then the Act of April 4, 1818 called for 13 stripes and a star for each state. December in the year 1818 Illinois joined, which added another star to the flag. In 1819 and 1820 two states were added, adding two more stars. In August 1821 Missouri joined, adding another star. • 5. Aristotle s Views On Life One of the philosophers I will choose to analyze will be Aristotle. Aristotle believes that people should always participate in the city state, and only by being the citizen can a person lead and pursue a life of good quality because he believed that that was the main focus and reason of human life. Although he was a great philosopher, one of the ideas that I chose to discuss was that he believed slaves were necessary to the functionality of a good and working society, and that man is only fully rational if he participates in the city. This would mean that even as a slave, you should be the best slave you could be because you are helping the city thrive however you are in the lowest level. Aristotle believes that men should be in power, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that Aristotle wanted to be seen and recognized for his works in everyday life. He wants people to do the best they can in what they do so they can receive merit for it. You can only be truly happy if you are involved in a life that is fully lived mature and refreshing. I feel like participating in the city state is your own choice. Aristotle identified three types of relationships that rule a household: Master slave, parent child, and husband wife. The husband wife represented reproduction, the parent child represented education, and the master slave represented self preservation. Aristotle defends slavery with this concept by basically saying that for one option, there is an opposite option: If there is a male, there is a female. He says that nature is made up of things that need to have rule over them, and rulers. He states that some people, by nature, are slaves and some people are masters. He also tries to argue this by saying that slavery is natural because the pattern is found in other aspects hence, husband/wife, rational/irrational, parent/child, etc. He feels that it is unjust to enslave through means of war because those people are not natural slaves. Aristotle believes that if it is natural for a king to rule over his people, then a master should rule over his slave because the slave helps increase the master s livelihood. The same idea ... • 6. Children Of Dune Analysis Children of Dune Is it wise to save somebody, but harm them in the process. Frank Herbert s Children of Dune explores this idea. Leto, the boy who will soon be emperor, has a vision of the future in which he believes that he can save humanity from destruction, but would harm them in the process. He intends to lead humanity along a Golden Path , but will have readers questioning if he will do more harm than good. Despite the fact that Leto s intentions are good, he is actually evil. To do this he believes that he must become a tyrant. And I beheld another beast coming up out of the sand; and he had two horns like a lamb, but his mouth was fanged and fiery as the dragon and his body shimmered and burned with great heat while it did hiss like the serpent revised Bible (Herbert). This passage from the revised Bible of Dune is a foreshadowing to Leto rising up as the emperor, because is is an almost exact description of a sandworm. The natives of the planet worship the sandworms as a physical representation of God, and Leto makes himself partially sandworm in the book. Leto does another act of evil by proclaiming himself to be a god. Leto knows that he will be a brutal ruler, and that it will be hard for humanity to survive. Leto told his father, Paul Your jihad will be a summer picnic on Caladan by comparison (Herbert). Pauls jihad was a successful attempt to make his rule absolute, but it caused the death of 61 billion people. Leto understands what his rule will do, but he will continue anyways. Leto knows he will be a tyrant, and shows that he is evil by continuing anyways. Despite being the protagonist of the novel, Leto is really a villain. He believes that by being a tyrant, he can benefit all of humanity. To him, the billions of deaths, the disruption of a planet s transformation, and him wanting to be a god show that he is inherently evil. He believes that he can save humanity by oppressing and harming them. Leto is the true villain of Children of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. World War I And The United States Essay World War I was unlike any other war before it. The total casualties reached about about 38 million, with over 17 million deaths, 7 million of them being civilians, and 20 million wounded. World War I was well known for the extensive system of trenches from which men of both sides fought, the lethal new technologies unleashed such as poison gas, and for the battles under the sea and in the skies. At first, the two sides consisted of the Allies: France, Britain, and Russia, against the Central Powers: Germany, Austria Hungary, and Turkey. As the war carried on however, the tides turned towards the Central Powers. Needing help, the Allies turned towards America for assistance. The United States however, were very reluctant at first, sticking to their public policies. Trading with both sides of the belligerents, the United States did not want to halt their booming economy, and the large number of protests by immigrant citizens made joining the war even less desirable. It was only after Britain s decision to blockade Germany, Germany s announcement to resume unrestricted submarine warfare, and the British discovery of the Zimmerman Telegram that the United States finally decided to join the war. When World War I began, The United States made it clear that they didn t want to be involved in the war, and maintained their neutrality. Definition Of Funny Essay In the quote from Mark Twain, Show me a man who knows what s funny, and I ll show you a man who knows what s not , there is one word in particular that I would like to focus on. Funny. We all know what funny means, something that causes you to laugh, something that s humorous. But, what exactly falls under that definition? That s something you can t specifically decide. With so many factors going into it, including an individual s personality, the area, the time, and more, finding something that everyone believes to be funny would be hard. For me specifically, the word funny brings to mind jokes I ve heard or read in my mind. More specifically, I picture chickens crossing roads, cows interrupting conversations, and a variety of different people and items knocking on doors. However, you may associate very different ideas with the word. My father and sister both find it extremely hilarious to watch other people undergo harm, while one of my best friends finds humor in making statements that have no blatantly obvious connection with the current conversation and often don t make grammatical sense. • 12. The Will To Believe Is A Philosophical Essay Written By The Will to Believe is a philosophical essay written by William James. In the book, James focused on the concepts of genuine choice and forced beliefs. His argument is that individuals have choices to believe; however, those choices are shaped around facts and forced beliefs. He also argues on religious hypotheses and the concept of belief without reason. The first problem James tackles is genuine options. He disagrees with Clifford on the idea of genuine options. He believes that there are certain things which we cannot wait for efficient evidence before we make a claim. Those things are the ones where religious faith is intellectually acceptable. We are supposed to gain, even now, by our belief, and to lose by our non belief (James 136). According to James, science says things are, morality says things are better than other things, and religion says essentially two things. Firstly, she says things that the best things are the more eternal things (...) the things in the universe that throw the last stone (James 136). The second one states that we are better off if we believe her first affirmation to be true. Furthermore, religion is momentous force because the answer to these religious force is all up to you, there is no intellectual ground to answer the questions. Therefore, James is saying, if you are a theist, there is nothing wrong in choosing to believe that there is a God, also, if you are atheist, there is nothing wrong in choosing to believe there is no God. This is because it takes as much faith to say there is no God as that there is a God. Therefore, according to James, we can believe or not believe based on our irrational passions alone. In addition, James lays out the problem of choosing to believe. He argues that people are inherent believers by nature and that they do not choose to believe. There are some flaws in James argument. Firstly, his claim that belief in God is live, forced and momentous and cannot be decided on intellectual means. The question of whether God is live has only to do with the individual. The pecking order model assumes that the distribution of informational asymmetry is homogeneous across different industries. To examine the adequacy of the two assumptions under each theory, first we classify firms into industries, using Fama and French industry classification; this enables us to control for the nonhomogeneity of the firms characteristics across industries and the temporal distribution of informational asymmetry among industries; second, we use a spline regression model to test for the symmetric behavior assumption. The results show that the symmetrical rate of adjustment assumption under the trade off model is rejected across all industries; firms tend to adjust faster toward the target leverage when they are above the target relative to when they are below the target leverage. We find no evidence to support the homogeneous coefficient across industries as the adjustment rate varies significantly across industries. For the pecking order model, we reject the symmetric behavior assumption at the industry level as well as across all industries. However, chronic pain continues to be undermanaged with as many as 41% of patients reporting uncontrolled pain 1. Poor pain management outcomes are due in large part to a lack of a pharmacological intervention that is both efficacious for moderate to severe chronic pain and widely tolerable. Currently, the most efficacious treatment for moderate to severe chronic pain is the use of opioid agonists. Previous studies using preclinical models have shown that the addition of norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors can supplement the analgesic potential of morphine2. Consistently, preclinical studies of tapentadol have shown analgesic efficacy that is comparable to morphine with a 50 fold decrease in binding affinity to μ opioid receptors1. The ability of tapentadol to produce analgesia similar to that seen with classical opioids with considerably lower binding affinity for µ opioid receptors at off target sites suggests that tapentadol treatment could provide effective pain management while limiting adverse events. Certainly it is no longer a wilderness, but it has a photogenic backdrop of buttes and mesas, projecting above the expansive surface of waters where the speedboats, houseboats and cabin cruisers play. There is a need to come up with some practical storage solutions as the apartment has two (2) small closets and these are not enough for storing the person s belongings and possessions. This makes the apartment look too crammed, and there are clothes strewed all over the place, and there is no room for anything else. One cannot properly sort the dirty and clean clothes as clothes usually get mixed up due to lack of enough storage space. There is no space for one to keep a shoe rack, and that leads to shoes getting mixed up with the clothes. Initial Solution Screwing hooks on the walls and running strings or ribbons on the hooks would reduce the clutter of things that are strewn across the floor and would make good use of the vertical space and one can use the ribbons to hang displays this would add creativity to the whole room. The other idea is to screw hooks on the walls then attach a net on the hooks that would be used to store more stuff that are not used very often. Using old wine crates, one can have additional storage space in the apartment. They allow one to make good use of the vertical space without affecting the dà cor of the apartment. Essentially, one significant key issue from the event previously discussed, relates to my inability to deliver medications at the specified time. It is important to administer drugs on time to maintain patient safety, since late medications may result in ineffective treatments and unstable patient conditions. Analysis As previously mentioned, right time medication administration is important to prevent patient harm. Medications are considered late when they are delivered beyond 30 minutes of the scheduled time or depending on the hospital policy. Certain medications, such as antibiotics and Parkinson disease drugs, follow strict schedules to provide and maintain therapeutic blood levels. In particular, antibiotics should be administered on time to prevent bacterial resistance and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Paleolithic Vs Neolithic Research Paper I would prefer living in the Paleolithic Era and the Neolithic Era. One main reason is that the Paleolithic men were much healthier than the Neolithic men in the ways that, Paleolithic men were foragers and they moved their food which led them to not staying in one spot permanently. This means that sickness and diseases were not easily passed on. Unlike the Neolithic men who did have permanent settlements and had illness passed around quite easily. Also it says in the passage Old Stone Age vs. New Stone Age that The adoption of grains in the Neolithic era coincided with a shortening of stature, thinner bones and crooked, cavity ridden teeth. Since Paleolithic Era did not domesticated grains they only ate wild grains they were taller, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They created created language by using symbolic language (using symbols or sounds to communicate) and collective learning (telling other people about your discoveries so they can use it and the information does not die). Although the Neolithic man did create some very important discoveries too (the wheel, calendars, time keeping etc.) they would not have able to make these discoveries without language. Another reason is that the Paleolithic people had a healthy balanced diet. The Paleolithic people had a main diet of meat, fruits, vegetables, and wild grains. Whereto the Neolithic people had a main diet of wheat, yams, corn, rice, and maze. As we ve seen in paragraph one grains make your bones thinner, decrease your height, and make you have crooked teeth. Therefore the Paleolithic people had a better balanced diet which allowed them to be healthier. My fourth reason is that you are a farmer (Neolithic) and one year you have bad weather and your crops don t grow. Now you have very little if any food. That doesn t just effect a couple of people though. That effect your whole clan or colony which can be a lot of people. Whereto if your a forager (Paleolithic) and you don t have a permanent settlement then if one year you have bad weather you don t need to stress about it because you can move like you do anyway for your ... • 31. Essay On Resveratrol Resveratrol Attenuates Neuronal Apoptosis after Subarachnoid Hemorrhage via inhibiting the expression of TXNIP in Rats Abstract Objective: Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a fatal condition with a few available effective treatments. Resveratrol (RES), a natural polyphenolic compound, has a powerful anti apoptosis property. In addition, its neuroprotective effects has been exhibited in neurodegenerative diseases, ischemic brain damage, and SAH. However, the underlying molecular mechanism of RES in protecting against early brain injury (EBI) after SAH remains unclear. Our preliminary findings have revealed that thioredoxin interacting protein (TXNIP) might participate in EBI by promoting neuronal apoptosis. The purpose of this study was to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Introduction Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), predominantly caused by a ruptured aneurysm, is a devastating neurological disease that has a morbidity and mortality rate higher than 50% [1]. Early brain injury (EBI) was reported as the primary cause of mortality and poor outcomes in SAH patients [2 4]. Therefore, novel therapeutic strategies aiming at elucidating EBI after SAH are required. It has been proven that a series of complex pathophysiological processes are involved in the pathogenesis of EBI. Among them, neuronal apoptosis plays a vital role [3,5,6]. Therefore, preventing neuronal apoptosis can be a prospective target to improve severe neurological deficits and outcomes in patients with SAH. Resveratrol (trans 3, 4′, 5 trihydroxystilbene, RES), a natural polyphenolic compound mainly found in grape skin and red wine, has attracted wide attention lately because of its antioxidant, anti inflammation, anti aging, anti diabetes effects as well as control of cell cycle and apoptosis [7 9]. It has been proven that RES can cross the blood brain barrier (BBB) [10]. Previous studies have shown that RES induced anti apoptosis in various diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular, and neurodegenerative diseases [11 14]. Many investigators affirm that RES can reduce the neuronal apoptosis, but very few reports are available regarding the underlying molecular mechanisms of reducing neuronal ... • 33. A Week I The Woods By Karl Maxwell Quotes I really enjoyed the book A Week I the Woods by Andrew Clements. When a rich 5th grader, Mark Chelmsely, realizes he must attend the field trip he decides that he is going to prove to his teacher, Mr. Maxwell, that he isn t just a slacker. Instead he puts himself and Mr. Maxwell in a whole bunch of danger. The main theme of this book is everybody deserves a second chance, because even when Mark is very rude towards Mr. Maxwell they end up becoming friends in the end of the book. My first quote shows that in the begging of the story Mr. Maxwell does not like Mark. The quote is But after 22 years in the classroom, Mr. Maxwell could spot a slacker a mile away. And by Wednesday afternoon at the end of his third class with mark he reached his decision: This new boy was a slacker (Clements 22). In this quote it shows how Mr. Maxwell judges Mark and immediately dislikes him because of his attitude. It only took Three days before Mr. Maxwell decides that he dislikes Mark. This relates to the theme, everybody deserves a second chance, because it shows that one may not like a person at first but it doesn t mean one should not give that person a second chance. ... Because the only kind if people Mr. Maxwell disliked more than slackers were environmentally insensitive, buy the whole world rich folks. And the only people he disliked more than rich folks were their lazy, spoiled kids (Clements 25). I chose this quote because Mr. Maxwell is judging Mark and his family again because of what he heard. Technically a computer could solve this equation but it could just tell you if they were equal and not to the same level of accuracy. A computer would input a value for ? on both sides and if the answer is equal then the equation is equal. The problem with this is that when you get into trigonometry there could be a difference in the decilionth decimal place. A computer can t work with the abstract which is what is in my example. A computer may take 2 seconds or a million years to find an answer or it may give the wrong answer! The other point is that a computer can only perform things in a certain order it can t guess or have a feeling about a question, which brings in the creative aspect. Another example happened during one of my Calculus classes that I believe to be the most abstract

  • 36. Comparing Christian Bible And The New Testament The Christian Bible is split into two divisions, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament, the first division, focuses mainly on the history of the creation of our world, specifically the history and religion of the people of Israel. The second division, the New Testament, mainly focuses on the life and religious teachings of Jesus and the beliefs of the Christian church. Although the New Testament acts as an extension/continuation of the Old Testament, a main difference between the two if the characterization of God and his relationship with humanity. • 37. The Discovery Of Down Syndrome Down syndrome is a common disorder where the child gets an extra copy of the 21st chromosome. It happens in every 691 babies born in the United States. This adds up to about 6,000 babies born with the disorder a year. The major points in this paper are: when the disorder was discovered, the symptoms, the lifespan, the medical treatments, if it is a dominant trait, what chromosome is affected, and how it is passed down to offspring. The discovery of Down syndrome was by an English physician named of John Langdon Down. He published a description of a person with Down syndrome in 1866, and that earned him the title of The Father of Down syndrome. In 1959 a French physician Jerome Lejeune discovered that the syndrome was actually a chromosomal condition. He discovered that instead of the normal 46 chromosomes, Down syndrome patients have 47 with an extra copy of 21. In 2000, a global team of scientists identified and catalogued each of the 329 genes on chromosome 21. With all this new information scientists made large advancements in Down syndrome research. There are many symptoms of Down syndrome. The symptoms that one can see are: low muscle tone, smaller stature, an upward slant to the eyes, and a single deep crease across the center of the palm. Down syndrome babies can be born normal size, but development is twice as slow as a non Down s child. The mental side effects are: impulsive behavior, poor judgment, short attention span, and slow learning capabilities. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Little Black Book Of Supervision Essay In The Little Black Book Of Supervision , Chapter 4 of Managerial Skills, Gil Sargent stresses upon the importance of planning and organizing in the workplace. The company s resources, personnel time, tools and equipment should be managed properly. If these are not managed properly, then it can cost a firm fortune (Sargent, 2003). It is, therefore, necessary that manager should put to use the time and work study. It means how much time is taken to do a particular work while at a job. Once it is done, employees should be told about managing time. A firm will not be able to achieve results if they are not getting the equipment necessary to time. Before organizing, it is very essential to plan beforehand. As planning is the first and foremost step. In planning one decides, what is to be done, when is to do and how something is to be done. It controls the work. take note of the losses such as time lost by employees, any material losses and equipment and tools losses. Most important thing to note here is that scheduling is just assigning tasks. It does not mean that effective planning has been done. The process of organizing begins from analyzing the work, then the plan has to be refined and at the end implement the plan (Sargent, 2003). Motivation is a key to get the work done from employees. Employees reward system decides to how to keep the employee happy and motivated. These should be designed in a way that makes an employee work on their own. Rewards system only work if ...
