The Collapse Of Lehman Brothers Essay
Abstract This paper is about how did Shadow Banking precipitate the financial Crises. Then discusses
the impacts of the crisis on the major financial institutions. Introduction The collapse of Lehman
Brothers, a sprawling global bank, in September 2008 almost brought down the world s financial
system. Considered by many economists to have been the worst financial crisis since the Great
depression of the 1930s. Economist Peter Morici coined the term the The Great Recession to describe
the period. While the causes are still being debated, many ramifications are clear and include the
failure of major corporations, large declines in asset values (some estimates put the drop in the
trillions of dollars range), substantial government intervention across the globe, and a significant
decline in economic activity. Both regulatory and market based solutions have been proposed or
executed to attempt to combat the causes and effects of the crisis. After peaking in the United States in
2006, the global housing bubble collapse. On the national level, home prices in the United States have
dropped by almost 40% according to the Case Schiller home price Index from 2006 peak to mid 2009.
Securities with risk exposure to housing market plummeted, causing great damage to financial
institutions across the globe. Stock markets all over the world suffered large drops in 2008 and early
2009 as questions arose regarding the solvency of major financial institutions and liquidity in the

Microeconomics Simulation
The concept of supply and demand has been around for hundreds, if not thousands of years. It is one
of the most crucial concepts in both macroeconomic and microeconomic arenas. What is comes down
to is, the price and quantity demanded go hand in hand and the price and quantity supplied are directly
related. If anyone is to understand market behavior of individual consumers and the decision making
processes of businesses and consumers, then they need to understand how fundamentally important
microeconomics is. The Simulation From this week of instruction, the simulation demonstrated how a
fictional apartment management company is impacted by several monetary influences. The concepts
of microeconomics can be classified as changes in equilibrium,

Character Analysis Of Remember The Titans
In the film Remember the Titans head coach H. Boone exhibits many perspectives of an effective
leader of change. He embraces natural tactics of being Real, Relevant, and Relatable as a way of
implementing change amongst these divided young men.
As a leader you must be real with yourself and others for fake will not fix or implement change. In his
position Herman Boone was real in a sense that he was genuinely honest and upfront in every
encounter with others, he does not sugar coat things or beat around the bush, and instead of telling you
what you want to hear, he tells you what you need to know. At times though it seems that Boone s raw
emotions such as his attitude, assertiveness and arrogance are a bit too real, we are able to see that
they are key components in how he establishes his sense of urgency throughout the organization. At
the start of the movie, the sense of urgency created by Boone s attitude almost lead the team in the
wrong direction, as the players did not respect or understand the way he went about doing things. For
example, before the players leave for camp Boone is approached by Bertier about positions on the
team, in the midst of the conversation Boone says You take a look at her. Cause once you step on that
bus you aint got your mama no more. You got your brothers on the team and you got your daddy. You
know who your daddy is, doncha? Gary, if you want to play on this football team, you answer me
when I ask you who is your daddy? Statements such as these do not usually sit well with others, many
including myself would find this very disrespectful. On the other hand Coach Boone s ability to be
real with himself as well as others allows him to express raw emotion and concern that explains his
reasoning behind his actions, As shown in the scene after the first game when Yoates challenges
Coach Boone s public criticism in regards to Petey, he replies you think you re doing these boys a
favor, by taking them aside every time I come down on them...I may be a mean cuss but I m the same
mean cuss with everyone on that football field the world does not give a damn how sensitive these
kids are...you are crippling them the tough love shown by Coach Boone towards his players expresses

Transporters Vary Between Eukaryote And Prokaryote...
transporters vary between eukaryote and prokaryote organisms, ABC protein shows highly
conservative amino acid domains within NBDs. However, NBD have three well studies motifs; ATP
binding sequences for the phosphate binding loop (P loop or Walker A motif), walker B boxes, and
ABC signature, ex (LIVMYA), which is fix in between Walker boxes (Akifumi Sugiyama, et al, 2006)
Plant ABC transporters uses different nomenclatures to shape plant ABC subfamilies, a consistent
nomenclature with Human Genome Organization which are the more acceptable and useable method.
Plant ABC transporters comes into eight subfamilies; A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and I. However, ABCH not
included within this group, as not yet identified in plant system (Verrier P J et al., 2008). Among eight
groups of ABC transporter gene members, more genes number found within ACBB, ABCC, and

Movies During The Great Depression
Movies, we ve all seen them, but during the depression these movies were so important to the daily
life of those people. During the depression, movies were just getting pioneered and some classics
emerged, such as The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind. These movies along with many others
meant so much to the people of the depression era because of what they really were. For the most part,
people didn t have the best living qualities during this era, hence the name The Great Depression, and
movies were some of the best ways to escape their terrible lives. Movies have a way of taking you
away from your life for the two or three hours of runtime that the movies have, and that is what
movies did so well for the people during the depression. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best example from this time would have to be the classic, The Wizard of Oz. This movie showed
a little girl and her dog get sucked up by a tornado and taken to a magical land. The girl has to try to
go home and ends up going on an adventure meeting many strange things on the way. This type of
movie really took people out of their lives. The other movies like The Roaring Twenties just put the
people in the shoes of others, but this movie and other movies like it took you on a real adventure
away from your life. People could sit and just imagine they were in a different world for the 2 hour
runtime of the movie. This movie not only took people away from their life, but did it better than
many other movies by amazing their audiences because it was the first major movie to be done in full
color. These movies effectively took their audiences away from their lives and The Wizard of Oz
specifically amazed audiences by being the first major movie with full

A Brief Look at Amnesia
Amnesia is when people forget things easily. They tend to forget information that is stored in their
memory. If you are a little forgetful it doesn t mean you have amnesia, but if you forget a lot of
memories that you should have not forgot you have amnesia. Examples of amnesia are important
milestones in your life, memorable events, key people in life, and important fact that we have been
told or taught. Just like you see something happen and then someone asks you what happened and you
can t remember. Normal causes could be from brain damage or using sedative drugs. Alzheimer s
disease is one of the big diseases you could get from amnesia. People find it hard to imagine the future
if they have amnesia. (Researchers form Washington University in St. Louis, Christina Nordqvist.
2009) used advanced brain imaging techniques to show the remembering the past and envisioning the
future may go hand in hand, with each process sparking strikingly similar patterns of activity within
precisely the same broad network of brain regions. Remembering events and experiences is a very
complex brain process. Although amnesia is a popular theme for movies and books, it is a very rare
condition (Christina Nordqvist, 2009). Retrograde Amnesia is when you get a blow to the head that
could lose memory for certain details or events that occurred prior. The lost memories return slowly,
but the older memoires tend to come back first. In almost all cases investigated, memories for recent
events have

Australia s Restrictive Immigration Control
Australia has arguably the most restrictive immigration control in the world and has very tough
policies in place for asylum seekers who arrive by boat. Under Australia s system of mandatory
detention, all non citizens who are in Australia without a valid visa must be detained, including
children. In 2012, offshore processing of asylum seekers commenced and detention centres in Nauru
and Manus Island (Papua New Guinea) were established. This new system enforced policies that
transferred asylum seekers who arrive by boat without a valid visa to a third country. Once the
processing of asylum seekers was completed, those found to be genuine refugees will be resettled in
Papua New Guinea or Cambodia, not Australia. The Abbott Government stated that no immigrant who
arrives in Australia by boat will be grated a visa, no matter the legitimacy of their claim. In April
2016, the Manus Island detention centre was closed after the Supreme Court of Papua New Guinea
found it to be illegal. Current immigration Peter Dutton has made it clear that asylum seekers on
Manus Island are the responsibility of Papua New Guinea and would not come to Australia. As well as
the hundreds of immigrants in offshore detention centres, there are hundreds more in community
detention in Australia. There are currently over 26,800 visa applications from those who are awaiting
the outcome of their refugee application whilst living on a bridging visa in Australia. Detention has

Preventing Surgical Site Infection ( Ssi ) Is Paramount...
Introduction
Preventing surgical site infection (SSI) is paramount for healthcare professionals. If there is an
increasing rate of surgical infections in hospitals, the medical cost to take care of the patient would
increase beyond the average rate of care for that patient. Patients who have clean or contaminated
surgery are susceptible of contracting infection if the wound is not protected from harmful organisms
that may be present on the skin during or after the surgical procedure. As such, the quality of patient
care for controlling after surgery infection is the concern of surgeons, practitioners, healthcare
planners, and the public. Preoperative and postoperative interventions are important considerations for
healthcare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Relevance of the Nursing Research Problem
Webster and Osborne (2015) conducted a research Preoperative Bathing or Showering with Skin
Antiseptics to Prevent Surgical Site Infection, in 2015 was to determine if patients bath or showered
prior to surgery with an antiseptic the risk of postsurgical site infection would reduce. The nursing
problems are; the various researches supporting the use of antiseptic prior to surgery is still
inconclusive in relation to the best antiseptic that will reduce infection and; there is need for clarity if
reducing skin microflora with the use of antiseptic will result in lower incidence of SSI.
The authors commented that complications after surgery increases hospitals cost and lengthens the
patient s stay in the institution. Spiraling cost for healthcare is not advantageous for the hospitals or
the patients. Patients who stay in hospitals longer than expected because of infections are likely to
prefer law suits against the institution. Compounding the problem are cases that results in serious
morbidity or mortality resulting from infected surgical sites. In addition, the rate of readmission into
hospitals and further surgery contributes to the concerns for reducing postoperative infections
(Webster Osborne). The research is relevant and poses a nursing challenge that includes other
healthcare professionals such as administrators, surgeons, practitioners, patients, and the public.

Tetrahydrocannabinol
Marijuana, or in contemporary language, Maryjane, Kush, and Weed, comes from a plant called the
Cannabis Sativa. Marijuana comes from dried Cannabis leaves. The leaves themselves have a dark
green or grayish color with a light and fine texture. It could be smoked, eaten, or used as extracts like
oils. The plant itself is indigenous to Central Asia and India. This plant began spreading to Greece,
Rome, and became exceedingly prominent in North and South America. Marijuana contains a
chemical known as tetrahydrocannabinol or THC. This molecule is enthralling and pleasurable,
because it binds to natural receptors in our brain. The biochemical and physiological mechanisms of
marijuana and THC will be discussed in depth in future slides. Nonetheless, ... Show more content on

Despite this plant having this many chemicals, only 61 are considered to be cannabinoids. Delta 9
tetrahydrocannabinol is one of these 61 chemicals that was isolated and synthesized in the early 1960
s. THC is considered one of the pre eminent and active ingredients in cannabis. When someone
smokes Marijuana, THC enters the lungs alveoli, or air sacs, and diffuses through a single thin layer of
epithelial tissue into the bloodstream. This blood will carry the THC molecule to the brain where
almost all the reactions and mechanisms occur. The brain contains many natural cannabinoid (CB)
receptors that are part of the endocannabinoid system. Natural cannabinoids and neurotransmitters that
are produced in the brain, for instance anandamide, are critical in appetite, pain, memory, and even
fertility. THC mimics many natural cannabinoids like anandamide, and bind to the same cannabinoid
receptors. These cannabinoid receptors are found in many neurons throughout the brain. The main
function of a neuron is to interpret signals from the physical world into action potentials and
neurotransmitters. THC could affect many parts of the brain. In the hypothalamus, when THC binds to
a cannabinoid receptor, it induces an action potential, and the neuron releases a neurotransmitter
known as dopamine. High levels of dopamine create a sensation of euphoria for the user. Users using
this drug report feeling happy, and creative. Marijuana decreases the refractory period of the neuron,
and makes it fire at higher rates. This affects spatial memory, which is a type of memory that allows us
to observe and record specific spatial information from the environment. It also affects episodic
memory, which are memories and experiences from the past. Those who use marijuana recall many
vivid memories from their

Professional Opportunities in Vietnam
PART A: RESEARCH ON THE CREATIVE INDUSTRY
I am going work in Vietnam in the near future, so I will discuss about my professional opportunities in
my country in this part.
Graphic Design industry is no longer a new field in Vietnam, but not everyone is aware of the
advantages of this industry. Vietnam is facing strong development opportunities. According to the
Vietnam Advertising Association , Advertising industry Vietnam grossed nearly $2 billion in 2013.
The country has over 7,000 advertising agencies , media, PR, event organizations . This is a huge
opportunity for professional Graphic Design and Multimedia Arts . Thus the occupations in this area
would become a hot on the recruitment market in recent years. Hot job, money making career are
rumors about Graphic Design and Multimedia Arts . To become a professional designer, just only
passion is not enough. Designers have to work hard and update their skills as well as knowledge to be
able to adapt to change by the day, especially, designers working in foreign companies.
Salary of a senior designer is from 400 1.500USD a month plus freelance work, earning over
$2,000USD a month. This is not a high salary and ideally compared to Australia but with the current
economic situation in Vietnam, the salary is acceptable. A designer can work outside the company and
receive more projects at home such as website design, logo design, brand identity ... This brings
significant revenue source for them. For those who have

Compare And Contrast The Political Parties Of Mexico
Mexico consists of three main political parties that build the framework for the Federal Government of
Mexico. These three parties are the Institutional Revoluntionary Party (PRI), The National Action
Party (PAN), and the most recent addition, the Democratic Revolutionary (PRD). There are many
similarites between Mexico s political parties and the United States, the PAN leans to the right of the
political spectrum making it Republican, and PRD swings to the left making for a Democratic party.
The most popular of the three, PRI sits right in the middle of the spectrum and has more of a

Mexico are strong supporters of this politcal party due to the fairness of its elections. PAN allows for
anyone from low to high class to run for political figures in the group, unlike PRI system only
allowing for the powerful wealthly citizens to take part. I believe the presence of PAN is more
significant in the manner that they have a positive outlook and influence on society in regards to
political fairness and the support of religion. If I were a citizen of Mexico I would support the PAN
political party because they simply do not rely on votes via corruption and have a more organized
standpoint of vital goals for the country. I also have a more Republican view when it comes to politics

Sherlock Holmes Personality
While the reasons for Sherlock Holmes popularity in the nineteenth century and the beginning of the
twentieth are comprehensible enough in the light of the abovementioned facts, the explanation for
Sherlock`s continuing success requires a more detailed analysis. Many characters that were popular at
the time of their creation are forgotten today; at the same time some images developed hundreds of
years ago are still famous and have become iconic in modern culture. Such characters as Batman,
Robin Hood, Harry Potter, Hobbits, and definitely Sherlock Holmes are the obvious examples of such
phenomena of popularity.

Repressed Memories And Other Memories Essay
From what I remember that night it had been like any other. Repressed memories and such. I had been

for the wedding, my birth, birthdays, etc, etc. He even had a key to the house which put my mom on

things I noticed he had a thing for my mom. He d sometimes put his hand on her waist as if she was

Spirited Away Reflection
Hayao Miyazaki s oscar award winning Spirited Away was the first Japanese anime film to win an
Oscar. To see how this animated feature film won this grand award, this paper will talk about the
writing, music, and sound design of this film.
Hayao Miyazaki was born on January 5, 1941 in a town called Akebono cho in Bunkyō, Tokyo. His
father ran a business that manufactured plane rudders during World War II. At the age of 3, Miyazaki s
family had to evacuate numerous times to escape bombings in their area. Miyazaki aspired to become
a manga artist when he was in junior high, but he was not good at drawing people, so instead he drew
planes, tanks, and ships. He then got inspired by a movie called Panda and the Magic Serpent (1958)
and began to draw more people.
Miyazaki s writing tends to be more on the fantasy side. One theme that can be seen throughout his
films is the joy and wonder of flying, as Miyazaki himself loves the idea of flying. In most of his more
famous films, things start out in a normal and real world setting, and then get whisked away into a
new and strange world filled with mystery and wonder.
The story of Spirited Away follows a ten year old girl named Chihiro, who is currently moving into a
new home in a new town in Japan. On their way to the new house, Chihiro s parents find an
abandoned temple like structure. The family decides to venture in and investigate the area. Chihiro is
cautious and doesn t want to go any further, but the fear of being left alone

way for an improved health organization all across America that would live on for over a century. Her
most notable achievement was founding the American Red Cross but she actually did much more.
Beginning her impressive impression on the world, Clara Barton began the first free public school in
New Jersey. This may seem almost menial work compared to what someone can accomplish in today s

killed the soldier she was helping. The most notable achievement made by Clara Barton is the
founding of the American Red Cross. After the war, she took a deserved cure vacation to Europe.
While on her stay, she came in contact with some members of the National Red Cross Committee.
With her heart set on creating an American Red Cross, she returned to America. The government was

With a wide variety in cannabis strains, the side effects of each strain differ from one another based on
many different factors. Attempting to pin point how each strain effects an individual is more
complicated then it appears. With cannabis being a very historic herb, the plant in itself as evolved
substantially over time and with advances in today s technology growers have the ability to cross
bread plants creating new strain or even create synthetic versions of cannabis. Since it is rather
difficult to pin point the side effects that every strain can produce most of these strains all share some
similar effects as a whole. Physically marijuana can affect your respiratory system causing respiratory
system to become irritated or if ingested can cause nausea and liver complications that can scar liver
tissue. At the same time studies have shown that cannabis can have slight effects on the immune
system, weakening the immune system. Marijuana has also been known to speed up the heart rate
which can pose a huge problem with individuals with heart conditions. Mentally marijuana releases a
chemical called euphoria which helps to stimulate dopamine in the brain. This high would has been
known to increase feelings of paranoia, hallucinations, and difficulties concentrating. Some users have

Excessive Pride In Macbeth
In Shakespeare s play Macbeth, Macbeth portrays a person whose pride eventually takes them down.
His pride is encouraged by his success in battle and by three witches who try to manipulate Macbeth
by prophesizing that he will soon be king. Macbeth becomes so power hungry as a result of the
witches prophecy that he kills the current king Duncan for the throne, and kills his close friend
Banquo and the family of Macduff in order to keep the throne after he becomes paranoid that he will
be killed for his mistakes. Macbeth encompasses the elements of a Greek tragedy: hamartia, a fatal
flaw, anagnorisis, a critical discovery made by the character, and catharsis, the realization and
acceptance of the character s fate. These elements are present throughout the play and bring to light
the fact that an excessive amount of pride can lead to a person s downfall. ... Show more content on

throne unless the current king, Duncan, was to die, he decides to expedite the process and kill Duncan
with the help of his wife. After Macbeth kills him, he says to Lady Macbeth, We have scorched the
snake, not killed it. (3.2.15). Macbeth thinks he has to do more mischievous and sinful things in order
to get and maintain the throne. His hamartia causes the death of Duncan, and the deaths that follow as

Should The Government Legalize Marijuana
Marijuana costs the federal government hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money every year.
The government is spending this money to help enforce and regulate marijuana laws in states that
have legalized the drug for both medical and recreational use. This drug should only be restricted to
those who need it for medical purposes. Recreational use of marijuana has become a big drain of tax
dollars, to fix this problem marijuana should be only used for medical purposes, and there should be a
limit on how much you can have in your possession at one time. Marijuana comes from the hemp
plant, and can be grown in a variety of places. Marijuana was first found by Europeans in 1545 in

Many advocates that are against legalization of marijuana that since it can lead to health problems
down the road, it should be banned entirely. The states that have already legalized marijuana think that
it should remain legal because it can help people with pain management caused by diseases.
Promoters of the drug also think that if marijuana becomes legalized in every state that it could
actually decrease the amount of underage users and abusers of the drug. The United States government
has not stated whether or not a law should be passed. Currently there is a law that states the drug is
illegal but the states are still protected. According to the 10th amendment, the power is given to the

Fascinating is one way of describing Irish Literature. All Irish literature seem to have similar
characteristics. First, Irish literature always takes place in Ireland and is about Irish citizens or those
with Irish heritage. If one does not know about the Irish, it is not always possible to understand the
Irish by reading Irish literature because the authors? definition is what they believe to be Irish. Irish

The Broken Windows Style Of Policing
Some people think assigning officers to communities can be rewarding and some people think it is a
form of punishment. Whatever the case may be, people need some form of protection. Crime is very
real. Today s violence seems to go far past those standard reasons. As humans, people tend to overlook
or forget who are there to protect the society from disorderly people. The good order of a community
is important to those who lived and worked in the community. In other words, the little things matter
to a person in his or her community. There will always be a person who cares and will take charge in
the community. Arguments have been made that the application of the Broken Windows style of
policing leads to negative results for the poor and minority residents of the area impacted. The

Essay on Intrinsic versus Extrinsic Motivation
Intrinsic versus Extrinsic Motivation
Introduction
The success of any business depends on the productivity and satisfaction of its employees. Employees
need to be motivated to work. Motivation can be defined as the inner force that drives individuals to
accomplish personal and organizational goals. Motivation can be either intrinsic or extrinsic. For an
individual to be motivated in a work situation there must be a need, which the individual would have
to perceive a possibility of satisfying through some reward. Intrinsic motivation stems from
motivations that are inherent and arise from performing the task of the job itself, which the individual
gets a feeling of either positive or negative motivation as a result of ... Show more content on

Those that are intrinsically motivated have a bit of advantages over workers who are more
predominantly extrinsically motivated. For instance, intrinsically motivated people work on job tasks
because they find them enjoyable and interesting. Additionally, there is evidence showing that intrinsic
motivation is positively correlated with learning, achievement, perception of competence and self
efficacy. At the same time, it is negatively correlated with anxiety, depression, and frustration. An
intrinsically motivated individual will be committed to his or her work to the extent to which the job
inherently contains tasks that are inherently rewarding to him or her (Lei, 2010).
Drawbacks of Intrinsic Motivation Although intrinsic motivation has numerous benefits, few
drawbacks of intrinsic motivation should also be considered as well. An intense form of intrinsic
motivation can reach to the point that employees can completely lose track of time and space,
completely ignore authority and other important tasks, as well as not having enough time to learn or
perform other essential tasks while learning and enjoying a particular academic activity. When
performing an enjoyable task, a person can lose track of space or self awareness. Individuals
motivated by intrinsic gratification seek an experience for itself, rather than for anticipated rewards.
The process is considerably more important to them than the resulting product or outcome, which has
them working often

I primarily disagree with the observation that rule making and rule following makes a hazardous
impediment for people. I concur with the idea that it gives individuals leverage over non people. This
is because the rules make security and request in the general public. Then, if everyone was permitted

In this scenario, there is a dispute between Alice and her children concerning their mother s decision
to take their father, Mr. Ernest to a mental institution without consulting them first. Lack of
communication when taking this action is the main cause of this dispute between both parties. The
best process to help resolve this dispute is through an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process
known as mediation. This process of ADR requires a neutral third party, known as a mediator who
helps both parties reach an agreement. The primary purpose of this mediator is to get the parties to
communicate to one another thus foster cooperation by shared exercise. Consequently, Ida, Beatrice
and Donald should appoint a third person who will not be biased on either side to help them address
their concerns and reach a suitable agreement. In this case, the mediator will try to analyze both cases
so as to try and see the similarities between the recommendations of each of the parties. The mediator
will later use this information to encourage an agreement that both parties will like. The advantage
about mediation is that the decision lies with Alice and her children and not with the mediator. The

Positive Behavior Analysis
Positive behavioral interventions and supports, also known as PBIS, has gone through several
developments over the years. According to Sugai and Simonsen (2012), in the 1980 s it was decided
that there was a need for a system that would better implement and document behavioral interventions
for students who have a variety of behavioral disorders (BD). In the 1990 s it was added to the
reauthorized Individuals with Disabilities Act. Over time it was decided that this system could also be

students the classroom procedures and cues to eliminate issues during any kind of transition. Thinking
about the placement of furniture will be helpful too. You want to be sure that there are not areas that

specific with praise, so that the student will know what they are doing well. Adding in a reward
system can also be very motivating. The fourth practice is about the teacher. Active supervision is
important. Moving around the room will give you different views of the room and let all of the
students know that you are paying attention. This may also make it easier for students to ask
questions. They will feel that it is easier to gain your attention if your floating around the room, rather
then standing in the same spot the whole time. The fifth practice talks about the importance of
consistent and fair consequences. Teachers need to first know when to react. Ignoring minor behaviors
that are attention seeking is important. Also, make sure that you are using constructive redirection, so
the student will know where they went wrong. The final practice is to keep the student engaged. Give

Christ figure because he imitates multiple actions of Christianity, and perverts those ideas. An
example of how Dracula is a perverted Christ figure would be when Dracula forces Mina to drink his

Introduction To Daily Logarithmic Returns Is Done By...
This study employs the adjusted price of GBP exchange rates for 12 different currencies where BNKR
s investments are dominated in, during the period of January 2010 till July 2015. The total number of
daily logarithmic returns of each exchange rate is 1455. The daily logarithmic return is defined as:
R_t=ln*((P_t P_(t 1))/P_(t 1) )
Where P_t is the adjusted spot exchange rate at time t. The descriptive statistics summary of daily
logarithmic returns is reported in Table 1. Therefore, assessing the exposure of currency risk was done
by reviewing both return and risk profile for data sets.
Secondly, for the assessment of currency risk s exposure, VaR method based on incorporated volatility
using EWMA approach is used as the main currency risk measure. In this study, the value of VaR is
calculated for each exchange rate with a confident level of 99% and a decay factor (lambda =0.94) for
the next trading day in 31 of July 2015. As long as VaR is more extreme measure than standard
deviation, it is naturally that VaR would be much higher than standard deviation.
Since the average standard deviation of the developed markets is around 0.6% compared with the
0.71% in the devolving markets, it indicates that the Risk and VaR value in the developed markets
(1.5%) is less than the developing countries (1.71%). Hence, VaR showed that investing in US and

What Is Self Discipline Essay
We already know that self discipline is important, but do we really need it?
We know about success tools, and we familiarize ourselves with many useful resources that lead us to
success, so why do we need self discipline?
We all have goals for many areas of our lives. Some of us want successful relationships, some like to
get more money, others want simply happiness in their lives and others seek better health with less
weight. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general
question is: Why we don t achieve those goals? Why we don t become successful in these goals?
The general answer is: Lack of self discipline.
Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the results in your
future. If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious
food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. If you spend more money
than what you earn today, you will have less money in the future.
Present steps determine future results.

another that do not contain words, such as messages sent through body motions; eye contact, touch,
and vocal qualities; and the use of time, space, artifacts, dress, and even smell, according to Neuliep
(2015).
As I stated earlier in this paper I am sure I unconsciously made unpleasant faces, frowned, and had
aggressive body language towards Brenda. This probably gave Brenda a perception of me being angry
or upset. While Brenda ignored me, walked pass me with her head turned in the other direction, never
acknowledged me with a smile, and look at me with a frown, my perception of Brenda was that she is
an unhappy negative person. Wood (2016) states that with our faces, we can indicate disapproval
(scowls), doubt (raised eyebrows), admiration (warm gazes), and resistance (stares). The way Brenda
and I reacted towards each other verbally was mirrored in our nonverbal communication. When
Brenda would say things to me I didn t like, such as I do not have time to talk to you about the
meeting . I would give out a huge sigh of annoyance. Maybe if we took the time to listen to each other
we would have avoided a lot of the strife and became more productive.
Listening and Non listening
Listening defining attributes include empathy, silence, attention to both verbal and nonverbal
communication, and the ability to be nonjudgmental and accepting,

2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami Research Paper
2004 Indian Ocean tsunami
Introduction
On the 26th of December ( Boxing Day) a monster earthquake and tsunami formed in the Indian
Ocean killing about a million people and displacing well over three million. The earthquake measured
9.2 on the seismograph which is the third largest earthquake ever recorded. If you think this is enough
shortly after a tsunami formed battering countries all around the Indian Ocean with monstrous swells
and strong winds. The epicentre of this disaster was in the mainland of Indonesia which also happened
to be the worst every affected country followed by Sri Lanka then India. This made the earth move
over a centre metre and caused aftershocks in places as far away as Alaska. This also prompted the
biggest ever humanitarian response of over 14 billion dollars and also thousands of workers to help in
the huge clean up process which ended up to take about five years to complete.
What is Humanitarian aid?
Humanitarian response is providing short term help to those in need while the government does not
have the money to look after all its citizens. Humanitarian aid is normally giving some of the simplest
things like water, clothes and shelter which at the time can be extremely ... Show more content on

Indonesia is one of the most disaster prone countries in the world meaning that there are over 100
earthquakes every year and also 130 active volcanoes. This means there are a lot of overseas aid
agencies that go over there to help.Over the years after the earthquake Red Cross alone provided
sanitation to over 2000 people and also built about 2100 homes for the displaced. The total amount
raised by Red Cross was about 125 million dollars which all went towards helping Indonesia alone (
including pay for workers ). Along with this disaster Red Cross managed to make a ambulance service
in many parts of Indonesia and also trained a further sixty people with basic first aid and ambulance

Esthetic Considerations in complete denture
What would an edentulous patient wish for other than restoring back his teeth, smile and beauty?
Of course, when dealing with artificial teeth in complete dentures, many will be terrified of the idea of
their future artificial appearance and will think restoring old natural appearance is impossible, but they
have no idea that removable prosthodontics is the art branch of dentistry, and that it has in its
dictionary what we call Denture esthetics: the cosmetic effect produced by a dental prosthesis which
affects the desirable beauty, attractiveness, character, and dignity of the individual.
Denture esthetics combines and blends science and art, therefore it does not have any set rules, but
relies on the artistic view of the dentist, guided by his scientific knowledge.
Since the days of Hippocrates in the 5th century BC, till recently, many concepts were presented for
teeth selection and arrangement, each trying to add more natural aspect of an artificial dentition .
After combining and summarizing most of these concepts, we can list some of the main points a dent
art ist follows to make his patient s face and mouth appear as natural as before.
Biological physiological point of view
When facial musculature, and normal facial appearance are well understood, the dentist can
accordingly make the

The Danger Of A Single Story By Chimamanda Adicie Essay
Single Stories are Problematic
In the world we live in now it has become easy to stereotype and create a single story about certain
people and situations, whether it s intentional or not. In 2009, a Nigerian novelist named Chimamanda
Adichie gave an amazing TED talk called The Danger of the Single Story . A single story more or less
means an incomplete or inaccurate viewpoint of a person or culture based on a story created from a
single experience. When one hears the same story over and over again, we start believing only that
story. Adichie claims that creating single stories is problematic and rely on power, a single story I
decided to present is how people believe police officers are abusing their power, and I believe the
media is at fault. For one to truly understand a story we must listen to the root of the story. Her speech
made me realize and view things differently. In the The Danger of a Single Story , Chimamanda
Adicie tells her own personal experiences of a single story and how that can become challenging. She
talks about when she started reading and writing at a young age. She read British and American
children s books. When she started writing all her characters were white and blue eyed just like in the
books. It wasn t until writers Chinua Achebe and Camara Laye that she realized people like her,
people of color, could exist in literature. Adichie s says what the discovery of African writers did for
me was this: It saved me from having a single story

Quotes In Everything Matters By Ron Currie Jr.
Quote #1: In the first chapter of Everything Matters!, Ron Currie Jr. sets up the story by introducing
the theme of the book on page 9. The quote which sets up the theme of this novel reads, There are
things we can surmise, though, one being that if you are still alive when the comet hits, neither you
nor anything else on the planet will be afterward. All of which raises the question your task, burden,
privilege, call it what you like a question which men and women, great and not so, of every color,
creed, and sexual persuasion have asked since they first had the language do so, and probably before:
does anything I do matter? From just reading this quote, you are able to predict that the main character
of this novel will be faced with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

about it when he could have. While he is feeling this pain from watching his father die he remembers
how much sadness was in his past and what he had experienced in his newer life was nothing
compared to what his old life was like. During this moment of despair the voices inside of Juniors
head tell him something which can be seen on page 292. Everything matters not in spite of the end of
you and all that you love, but because of it. Everything is all you ve got your wife s lips, your daughter

Software As A Service Based Financial And Enterprise...
As of 2014, NetSuite was a leading provider of cloud based financial and enterprise resource planning,
as well as omnichannel commerce software. Cloud based computing uses the internet to deliver
applications and software companies from a remote server. By doing this, companies were able to
eliminate the cost of installing and maintaining infrastructure used to store these applications and
other services. NetSuite would typically charge a subscription fee for a pre arranged amount of time.
The companies that benefit from these services the most are medium sized companies, as opposed to
large enterprises. This is because the cloud applications require substantially less capital to build,
maintain, and purchase software. Additionally, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that the actual computing for these services is done via the cloud or off site, so the
medium sized companies can access everything via a single comprehensive business suite without the
worry of multiple services and having the computing power necessary to manage different products.
These services are licensed for a much shorter period of time, monthly, quarterly, or annually, so there
is a much lower cost of switching between services. These services generate the actual revenue through
direct and indirect methods with almost all sales conducted over the phone. The direct sales are a
product of direct contact with medium sized companies or units of larger companies while the indirect
sales are from relationships with channel partners across many different sales regions, NA, LA, EU,
and AP. The key success factors to its business line were maintaining a comprehensive product that
was affordable to mid sized companies and sufficiently differentiated from competitors products. The
comprehensive aspect is demonstrated by the ability to be a completely one stop suite for these
companies with offerings across all functions, ERP, HRM, financial management, etc. The
affordability aspect is primarily a byproduct of not requiring a significant upfront cost to the
companies and a licensing model with shorter periods of subscription, the maximum of which is a
year. Additionally,

Thomas Foster s Themes Traced in Mulan In his book How to Read Literature Like a Professor,
Thomas Foster explains many reoccurring themes in literature, and shows how to recognize them and
in some instances shows certain works where they occur. By reading this guide to literature, one may
gain a deeper understanding of the work itself and of the author s intent in writing it. However, Foster
s methods can also be applied to films. A film that contains many of the various themes, models,
symbolism, and devices discussed in his book is Walt Disney s Mulan. Mulan is a character type with
which people are familiar. Foster discusses this process of association in the chapter Now ... Show

After Mulan has failed in her encounter with the matchmaker, she goes home and begins singing the
marvelous, gripping song called Reflection . She asks, When will my reflection show who I am
inside? She realizes that her fair appearance does not reflect her feelings. Singing this song, she
washes away her makeup, and gives up on becoming the perfect daughter and bride; it is a baptism.
Maybe it would be key to mention that during this song, Mulan sings in a downpour of rain. Just like
Foster describes in his book, Mulan is baptized in the rain. Disney movies are not notorious for their
violent nature. So, when something violent occurs in a Disney movie, or an individual (or animal in
many cases) dies, it must carry some kind of importance. In the chapter of his book More Than It s
Gonna Hurt You , Fosters says that there is usually more to violence than just violence. When Mulan
is struck by the sword of Shan Yu, many more things happen to her than a fatal wound. She almost
meets her demise, and for the first time, the reality of war sets in. Mulan realizes that she is not
invincible and grasps the perils of war for the first time. When she receives medical attention for her
wound, she is discovered to be a woman. All she has worked for up until this point is now for naught,
as she is expelled from the army and her family name is disgraced. Another instance where violence
plays an important role is when Li Shang s

  • 2. The Collapse Of Lehman Brothers Essay Abstract This paper is about how did Shadow Banking precipitate the financial Crises. Then discusses the impacts of the crisis on the major financial institutions. Introduction The collapse of Lehman Brothers, a sprawling global bank, in September 2008 almost brought down the world s financial system. Considered by many economists to have been the worst financial crisis since the Great depression of the 1930s. Economist Peter Morici coined the term the The Great Recession to describe the period. While the causes are still being debated, many ramifications are clear and include the failure of major corporations, large declines in asset values (some estimates put the drop in the trillions of dollars range), substantial government intervention across the globe, and a significant decline in economic activity. Both regulatory and market based solutions have been proposed or executed to attempt to combat the causes and effects of the crisis. After peaking in the United States in 2006, the global housing bubble collapse. On the national level, home prices in the United States have dropped by almost 40% according to the Case Schiller home price Index from 2006 peak to mid 2009. Securities with risk exposure to housing market plummeted, causing great damage to financial institutions across the globe. Stock markets all over the world suffered large drops in 2008 and early 2009 as questions arose regarding the solvency of major financial institutions and liquidity in the ... It is one of the most crucial concepts in both macroeconomic and microeconomic arenas. What is comes down to is, the price and quantity demanded go hand in hand and the price and quantity supplied are directly related. If anyone is to understand market behavior of individual consumers and the decision making processes of businesses and consumers, then they need to understand how fundamentally important microeconomics is. The Simulation From this week of instruction, the simulation demonstrated how a fictional apartment management company is impacted by several monetary influences. • 4. Character Analysis Of Remember The Titans In the film Remember the Titans head coach H. Boone exhibits many perspectives of an effective leader of change. He embraces natural tactics of being Real, Relevant, and Relatable as a way of implementing change amongst these divided young men. As a leader you must be real with yourself and others for fake will not fix or implement change. In his position Herman Boone was real in a sense that he was genuinely honest and upfront in every encounter with others, he does not sugar coat things or beat around the bush, and instead of telling you what you want to hear, he tells you what you need to know. At times though it seems that Boone s raw emotions such as his attitude, assertiveness and arrogance are a bit too real, we are able to see that they are key components in how he establishes his sense of urgency throughout the organization. At the start of the movie, the sense of urgency created by Boone s attitude almost lead the team in the wrong direction, as the players did not respect or understand the way he went about doing things. For example, before the players leave for camp Boone is approached by Bertier about positions on the team, in the midst of the conversation Boone says You take a look at her. Cause once you step on that bus you aint got your mama no more. You got your brothers on the team and you got your daddy. You know who your daddy is, doncha? Gary, if you want to play on this football team, you answer me when I ask you who is your daddy? Statements such as these do not usually sit well with others, many including myself would find this very disrespectful. On the other hand Coach Boone s ability to be real with himself as well as others allows him to express raw emotion and concern that explains his reasoning behind his actions, As shown in the scene after the first game when Yoates challenges Coach Boone s public criticism in regards to Petey, he replies you think you re doing these boys a favor, by taking them aside every time I come down on them...I may be a mean cuss but I m the same mean cuss with everyone on that football field the world does not give a damn how sensitive these kids are...you are crippling them the tough love shown by Coach Boone towards his players expresses a real ... However, NBD have three well studies motifs; ATP binding sequences for the phosphate binding loop (P loop or Walker A motif), walker B boxes, and ABC signature, ex (LIVMYA), which is fix in between Walker boxes (Akifumi Sugiyama, et al, 2006) Plant ABC transporters uses different nomenclatures to shape plant ABC subfamilies, a consistent nomenclature with Human Genome Organization which are the more acceptable and useable method. Plant ABC transporters comes into eight subfamilies; A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and I. However, ABCH not included within this group, as not yet identified in plant system (Verrier P J et al., 2008). Among eight groups of ABC transporter gene members, more genes number found within ACBB, ABCC, and ABCD transporter group cross all plant species (Thomas S. Lane et al., 2016). • 8. A Brief Look at Amnesia Amnesia is when people forget things easily. They tend to forget information that is stored in their memory. If you are a little forgetful it doesn t mean you have amnesia, but if you forget a lot of memories that you should have not forgot you have amnesia. Examples of amnesia are important milestones in your life, memorable events, key people in life, and important fact that we have been told or taught. Just like you see something happen and then someone asks you what happened and you can t remember. Normal causes could be from brain damage or using sedative drugs. Alzheimer s disease is one of the big diseases you could get from amnesia. People find it hard to imagine the future if they have amnesia. (Researchers form Washington University in St. Louis, Christina Nordqvist. 2009) used advanced brain imaging techniques to show the remembering the past and envisioning the future may go hand in hand, with each process sparking strikingly similar patterns of activity within precisely the same broad network of brain regions. Remembering events and experiences is a very complex brain process. Although amnesia is a popular theme for movies and books, it is a very rare condition (Christina Nordqvist, 2009). Australia s Restrictive Immigration Control Australia has arguably the most restrictive immigration control in the world and has very tough policies in place for asylum seekers who arrive by boat. Under Australia s system of mandatory detention, all non citizens who are in Australia without a valid visa must be detained, including children. In 2012, offshore processing of asylum seekers commenced and detention centres in Nauru and Manus Island (Papua New Guinea) were established. This new system enforced policies that transferred asylum seekers who arrive by boat without a valid visa to a third country. Once the processing of asylum seekers was completed, those found to be genuine refugees will be resettled in Papua New Guinea or Cambodia, not Australia. The Abbott Government stated that no immigrant who arrives in Australia by boat will be grated a visa, no matter the legitimacy of their claim. In April 2016, the Manus Island detention centre was closed after the Supreme Court of Papua New Guinea found it to be illegal. Current immigration Peter Dutton has made it clear that asylum seekers on Manus Island are the responsibility of Papua New Guinea and would not come to Australia. As well as the hundreds of immigrants in offshore detention centres, there are hundreds more in community detention in Australia. Delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol is one of these 61 chemicals that was isolated and synthesized in the early 1960 s. THC is considered one of the pre eminent and active ingredients in cannabis. When someone smokes Marijuana, THC enters the lungs alveoli, or air sacs, and diffuses through a single thin layer of epithelial tissue into the bloodstream. This blood will carry the THC molecule to the brain where almost all the reactions and mechanisms occur. The brain contains many natural cannabinoid (CB) receptors that are part of the endocannabinoid system. Natural cannabinoids and neurotransmitters that are produced in the brain, for instance anandamide, are critical in appetite, pain, memory, and even fertility. THC mimics many natural cannabinoids like anandamide, and bind to the same cannabinoid receptors. These cannabinoid receptors are found in many neurons throughout the brain. The main function of a neuron is to interpret signals from the physical world into action potentials and neurotransmitters. THC could affect many parts of the brain. In the hypothalamus, when THC binds to a cannabinoid receptor, it induces an action potential, and the neuron releases a neurotransmitter known as dopamine. High levels of dopamine create a sensation of euphoria for the user. Users using this drug report feeling happy, and creative. Marijuana decreases the refractory period of the neuron, and makes it fire at higher rates. Motivation can be either intrinsic or extrinsic. For an individual to be motivated in a work situation there must be a need, which the individual would have to perceive a possibility of satisfying through some reward. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those that are intrinsically motivated have a bit of advantages over workers who are more predominantly extrinsically motivated. For instance, intrinsically motivated people work on job tasks because they find them enjoyable and interesting. At the same time, it is negatively correlated with anxiety, depression, and frustration. An intrinsically motivated individual will be committed to his or her work to the extent to which the job inherently contains tasks that are inherently rewarding to him or her (Lei, 2010). Drawbacks of Intrinsic Motivation Although intrinsic motivation has numerous benefits, few drawbacks of intrinsic motivation should also be considered as well. An intense form of intrinsic motivation can reach to the point that employees can completely lose track of time and space, completely ignore authority and other important tasks, as well as not having enough time to learn or perform other essential tasks while learning and enjoying a particular academic activity. When performing an enjoyable task, a person can lose track of space or self awareness. I concur with the idea that it gives individuals leverage over non people. This is because the rules make security and request in the general public. John Stuart likewise has the view that making rules for individuals is basic because the rules help to implement ethical quality among people. In this scenario, there is a dispute between Alice and her children concerning their mother s decision to take their father, Mr. Ernest to a mental institution without consulting them first. Lack of communication when taking this action is the main cause of this dispute between both parties. The best process to help resolve this dispute is through an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process known as mediation. This process of ADR requires a neutral third party, known as a mediator who helps both parties reach an agreement. The primary purpose of this mediator is to get the parties to communicate to one another thus foster cooperation by shared exercise. Consequently, Ida, Beatrice and Donald should appoint a third person who will not be biased on either side to help them address their concerns and reach a suitable agreement. In this case, the mediator will try to analyze both cases so as to try and see the similarities between the recommendations of each of the parties. The mediator will later use this information to encourage an agreement that both parties will like. The advantage about mediation is that the decision lies with Alice and her children and not with the mediator. The mediator s role is to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Sugai and Simonsen (2012), in the 1980 s it was decided that there was a need for a system that would better implement and document behavioral interventions for students who have a variety of behavioral disorders (BD). In the 1990 s it was added to the reauthorized Individuals with Disabilities Act. The daily logarithmic return is defined as: R_t=ln*((P_t P_(t 1))/P_(t 1) ) Where P_t is the adjusted spot exchange rate at time t. The descriptive statistics summary of daily logarithmic returns is reported in Table 1. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general question is: Why we don t achieve those goals? Why we don t become successful in these goals? The general answer is: Lack of self discipline. Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the results in your future. If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. Nonverbal Communication In Verbally Although there were times that I considered myself helping to deescalate the situation between Brenda and I, I was very much a part of the problem by being pass aggressive. Wood (2016) states that passive aggression is acting aggressively while denying feelings or acting aggressive. Verbally I could have tried having dialogue with Brenda to understand her perspective of what she was thinking to understand how she was feeling. I should have voiced how I felt, instead of trying to avoid the conflict, due to fear of what I might have inappropriately said. Wood states (2016), competent interpersonal communicators are sensitive to others and their preferences and choose their words accordingly. Furthermore, I communicated with Brenda through my actions. Though I did not say anything I still communicated with her. Nonverbal communication focuses on the messages people send to one another that do not contain words, such as messages sent through body motions; eye contact, touch, and vocal qualities; and the use of time, space, artifacts, dress, and even smell, according to Neuliep (2015). As I stated earlier in this paper I am sure I unconsciously made unpleasant faces, frowned, and had aggressive body language towards Brenda. This probably gave Brenda a perception of me being angry or upset. While Brenda ignored me, walked pass me with her head turned in the other direction, never acknowledged me with a smile, and look at me with a frown, my perception of Brenda was that she is an unhappy negative person. Wood (2016) states that with our faces, we can indicate disapproval (scowls), doubt (raised eyebrows), admiration (warm gazes), and resistance (stares). The way Brenda and I reacted towards each other verbally was mirrored in our nonverbal communication. When Brenda would say things to me I didn t like, such as I do not have time to talk to you about the meeting . I would give out a huge sigh of annoyance.
