This proposal outlines a project to create a gaming magazine targeted at male and female gamers ages 15 to 18+. The proposed magazine would focus on new, popular video games for PlayStation and discuss gaming trends, hardware, and software. Research plans include analyzing existing gaming magazines like PC Gamer, PlayStation Official Magazine, and Xbox Magazine to gather design ideas and content inspiration. The proposal provides a basic schedule and bibliography to support further research and development of the gaming magazine concept.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Working Title:
“BrainDead Magazine”
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
My audience will be gamers in general, but to narrow it down further my target audience will most
likely be teenagers in between the ages 15 to 18+ as most of the games included within the
magazine will be for a mature audience, because of the violence in them. There won’t be a specific
gender, but I would say it is more of a male thing as gaming is more popular with males than
females. In terms of psychographic, I would say your average male teenager, but statistics show
that 52% of the gaming audience is made up of women, therefore my target audience in terms of
gender is going to be both male and female. I think that my magazine would be a global thing as
gaming in general is popular all over the world. In the USA, 155 million Americans play games
regularly, which means three or more hours per week. Four out of five households own a gaming
console, and the average age of gamers is 35, and the average number of years gamers have
been playing games is 13. Therefore, gaming is a huge, and popular industry which is why I am
choosing to do it. Another reason would be because of the variety of topics I could cover, and my
passion for gaming. Overall I think that my target audience will be both male and female gamers
that are in between the ages of 15 to 18 plus.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I have learnt that I prefer the practical side of the projects that we have
completed. I have acquired a basic knowledge on Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
As well as some other programs. I think that my Photoshop skills have developed the most during
the course, and I am very strong with using Photoshop. The subjects we studied before the current
project haven’t influenced my project in any way, but they have influenced my design choices that I
am currently thinking about doing for my final design. So far we have studied film, and a bit of
everything in the first project. The first project we did we learnt how to use some of the main
programs for media. This has helped me determine what I am good at, and what I am not. The first
project we did will have a massive impact on upon my project as most of the things that we learnt
during the project I will be using in the current project.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
So far I have a rough idea on what I am going to make, but over time I will build upon that idea,
making it better, and a stronger concept. I have decided that I am going to make a gaming
magazine, it will either be a PC gaming magazine or PlayStation gaming magazine. I have decided
on the idea of making a gaming magazine because of how popular gaming is, also the fact that I
am a gamer and are passionate about gaming. Therefore, I think it would make a good idea to
make a gaming magazine. The overall concept is to create a magazine that talks about new
games coming out or that have just came out. However, these games will be of my choice, I don’t
want to have random new games advertised in the magazine, which most gamers haven’t heard
of. I would like them to be games that are ‘hyped up’, such as ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’. I will also
talk about gaming trends and if I choose to do a PC gaming magazine, then I may talk about PC
hardware, and or programs. But, thinking about the magazine now I am leaning on the side of
doing a PlayStation magazine. When it comes to research, I will need to conduct an ongoing
research process that will help me, whilst I am going along with the project. I will look at other
gaming magazines, such as PC Gamer, The Official PlayStation magazines, etc. When looking at
similar magazines, I will take ideas from them, editing them and making them my own. When
researching these magazines, I won’t just look at the covers, but I will look at the double page
spreads, single pages, and more. I will gather both primary and secondary research. The primary
research that I gather will be, me gathering gaming magazines and looking through them, and
analysing them. Secondary research will be conducted by researching other gaming magazines,
and analysing the cover of that mag, a double-page spread, and that company’s website. They will
all be analysed, and I will do this for three different types of gaming magazines. So far I think I will
be researching PC Gamer, PlayStation, and Xbox magazine. This then gives me a wide variation
of gaming magazines to look at, and influence my idea.

Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work through analysing my work and its outcomes. Also referencing my work
on an on-going evaluation and completing a self-reflection. I will explain how my final product
turned out, and talking about what I would change if I were to do it again. I would also explain the
positives and negatives of my final product, and then go on to talk about what I like the most about
it. I will talk about the research side of things as well as the final product. I will go on to write about
how the research helped me determine my final design and what sort of research inspired me the
most, and what didn’t help me as much. I will also write about how useful the information I
gathered was, and if primary or secondary research was more useful.
