Rationale:
Since starting the course I feel like I have gained so many new skills as from year 9 onwards I
didn’t really have due to not using any sort of computer or laptop unless it was coursework. I have
acquired so many new skills for when it comes to using a computer whether it be creating a
magazine cover, using new software I feel so much more confident using different software.
The last project was similar in some aspects because for my production I made a few different
magazine covers so I think this will have an impact on my project but a positive impact because I
can look at the products I made before to see what I did well or not so well and build up from the
parts that I feel may have been the let down in the last project but I’m confident that this will help
me create a really good product by the end.
Project Concept:
The concept for my project is a NFL styled magazine. I love the NFL and I enjoyed creating a
magazine cover as part of my adventure production so I thought why not combine the two together
and try use it as a way to educate people about a sport they may not know about or know very little
about.
I also want to show off what finding the sport and really getting into can do for people and having
an extra hobby can help you so much mentally and it also helps you meet new people, so I also
want to include that side of the sport but mainly focus on the upcoming draft, the season just gone,
the history of the game and the super bowl and just the news around the NFL today.
Since I began watching the games every weekend, Monday and Thursday, along with reading
articles on the NFL app/website and following the teams on social media I have learnt so such
about the preparation players go through, how each play works and so on. For example, when I
first began watching I didn’t know much so I would to keep asking my dad about what was
happening but before the 2019 season I began playing Madden more and watching old games to
listen to the commentary and I slowly began to learn. How I can tell someone how the game works
and is run. The offense of 11 players gets a series of 4 plays on which they need to cover 10 yards
to continue moving up field, so they begin on 1st and 10 and move along until they hit 4th down.
Depending on field position a team can punt to the other team, kick a field goal for 3 point or in a
losing situation risk not making the yards required and handing the ball away in that position on the
field.
I have also learned more about the penalty system and player positions and certain set ups and all
this adds up to the reason I believe I can make a good NFL Magazine that can educate people
about the sport and maybe get them to look into more and maybe start following a team.

How will the project be evaluated and reviewed?
For my evaluation I plan on comparing my magazine to Gridiron and Pro Football Focus to see
what is similar and what stands out about each one. Like comparing the covers of the two and
evaluating which would draw people into buying the product more than the other.
Have a look at the information inside and make sure that everything makes sense and isn’t too
long, so the reader loses track easily or becomes bored.
Because my dad shares my interest, I plan on having him look other my product and giving me his
honest feedback for which I will take notes and then try improving my work based off his
comments. I also plan on asking two friends and another family member for feedback so I can see
if multiple answers come back similar then I know that I 100% need to focus on that certain part to
improve it and fix it. While also finding what they all find good about my product which is helpful
because you always will have something positive about your product even if it ends up surrounded
by negatives but this all helps you improve and create a better product meaning a potential better
grade.
