Passion To Teach For America
While my dedication to teaching at some capacity has been a lifelong passion, I would like to explain
why I want to join Teach for America by starting at the beginning of my own academic journey:
I could not read a sentence until I was in third grade, two to three full years behind my average peer.
In addition to being hopelessly behind in both reading and mathematics, I had terrible experiences
with bullying. The combination of poor academic performance and social issues was deadly to my
ability to learn. It took a year and two teachers who were incredibly dedicated to my individual
progress to catch me up to my peers. And that was all I needed two teachers who noticed and cared to
begin my work towards an eventual Ivy League education

Alfred Hitchcock s Movie, Psycho and its Impact on the Film Industry
The 1960 s marked a big change in American cinema. With the collapse of the Hollywood Studio
System came a weakening of censorship laws; sex and violence moved from obscurity to the forefront
of mainstream cinema (Nowell Smith 464). Although it quickly became clear that a market existed for
such films, the earliest attempts to foray into the world of modern cinema were met with ambivalence.
Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho, made in 1960, was one of the first of many to depict sexuality and
violence in a graphic manner (Nowell Smith 491). Although the youth market was ready for such a
change, the older audience resisted the modern trends. For this reason, Psycho was ... Show more

As he put it: Our big problem...is trying to make the censors understand that the young people are
much more sophisticated than they used to be (Kapsis 58).
Hitchcock explained the reason for filming a woman wearing only her under garments in the opening
sequence of Psycho: Audiences are changing....The straightforward kissing scene would be looked
down at by the younger viewers....Nowadays you have to show them as they themselves behave
(Hitchcock 1). The director was keenly aware of how audiences responded to his films (Rebello 163)
and sought to maintain their interest. He was among a handful of Hollywood filmmakers who
deliberately sought out innovative composers (Nowell Smith 258); for Psycho, Hitchcock hired
Bernard Hermann who wrote a modern score which challenged the norm. The title itself, fifties and
sixties slang for the violently psychotic, suggested the imminence of a new generation (Brill 200).
Fully aware that his film was unconventional and daring, Hitchcock used the media to sell his film to a
younger, fresher audience (Kapsis 13). It was advertised as: Alfred Hitchcock s greatest, most
shocking mystery with a galaxy of stars (Greene 1). The stars themselves (Janet Leigh, Vera Miles,
and Anthony Perkins) were of a younger generation than the top stars Hitchcock had previously
employed for his films (Finler 131). Posters for Psycho featured a scantily clad Leigh wearing

Analysis Of The Second Sex By Simone De Beauvoir
Simone de Beauvoir starts her second volume of book, The Second Sex, with the statement, One is not
born, but rather becomes, a woman (267). This is one of the most famous statement of de Beauvoir.
She argues that a woman is not born fragile, passive, or secondary; she is forced by her environment
and the society to become so. A woman learns her role from her circumstance. She is not born shy,
gentle, or passive, but is gradually shaped in that way by her upbringing. I agree with de Beauvoir s
argument. I also believe that femininity does not come from birth, it is shaped by our culture and
sophistication. The difference between characteristics of male and female is not because of any
biological reasons, but it is because of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a lot of criticism on this topic. Many people argue that men are biologically stronger, and
are risk takers. They claim women focus more on emotions. I do agree that men and women are
physically different. Men, on average, have greater muscle mass and denser bones. Men tend to be
taller, and have weigh more than women, in general. However, it has nothing to do with strength.
Many women lift weights and train hard nowadays. Those women will be able to do any sort of
physical activity like men do. Women s bodies are capable to attaining the strength that a man s body
can. Now, one might argue women have to train to be strong, but men are naturally strong. This
argument is not valid because women are not given a chance to use their strength since a young age.
Whenever there is a need to lift, shift or move heavy things, men are asked to do so. Girls from a
young age learns that it is not her job to lift things, so she does not care about strengthening herself.
Therefore, feminine and masculine characteristics and behavior that are not tied to biology but instead
originate from the culture specific perception, treatment of what sex you are and should be. If children
would see women lifting and pushing weights, they would not think that only men should be strong. If
they would see their father taking care of them like their mothers do, they would not think that only
women are tender

Essay The American with Disabilities Act
As stated by the founding fathers of America All men are created equal. Black, white, brown, short,
tall, smart, and dumb, all are created equally. Therefore every person deserves fair judgement.
Unfortunately, it is a profound fact that not everyone is born normal and capable of task typical for a
common person, who is free from disability. In my opinion, the quote All men are created equal serves
to promote a friendly environment that helps encourage equality among people and aids to recognize
the similarities rather than the differences that separates men. Even so, with this hope, the disabled
community still struggles for equality. According to Legal Rights by the National Association of the
Deaf (NAD), Almost 10 percent of all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the law was signed, new doors opened for the deaf and hard of hearing culture for a better

employers from refusing to hire or promote an individual because of his or her impairment and
requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations for applicants or employees who are deaf
or hard of hearing (Tucker 28). If a deaf or hard of hearing employee can pass the essential part of the
job qualification, he or she is protected by the ADA to be hired. Also, the ADA prohibits employers to
discriminate disabled people in means of recruitment, job applications procedures, pay rates, and
promotions. The second title, Title II, Requires all state and local government agencies to make all of
their services accessible to individuals with disability (NAD 22). This ensures people with disability to
be able to participate in services, programs, and activities who can meet the essential eligibility
requirements. Such places that must make these accommodations are schools, libraries, police and fire

The Meaning of Youtube Superstardom
There is no doubt that todays young people have a love affair with the internet, and near it s focus is
the video hosting website, YouTube. YouTube first dotted the Internet radar in February of 2005, and
is an online video streaming form of entertainment. It was nearly instantly popular, and just as quickly
became one of the most visited websites on the entire World Wide Web. While some viewers do not
welcome its presentation, far more enjoy watching and creating videos on YouTube. YouTube videos
range from being educational, instructional, and comedic, and sometimes plain stupid. Producing
videos to upload to YouTube is being done by people of all ages from all over the world. According to
author Alex K. Rich, thirty eight percent of Americans want to distribute content online. (Rich 1)
People were and are looking for a speedy and simple way to view and upload videos on the Internet to
share with the world. YouTube has brought about a new form of superior amusement and
entertainment to its viewers. Some of these personalities have caught fire on the Internet world. These
users become superstars, some overnight, although some take a year to even get noticed. It has given
people a substitute way to reveal themselves in the light of the media. A new and obtainable way to
become famed has been presented to YouTube users, and the videos that these users post online may
just be the ticket to bigger and better things.

The Joy Luck Club Cultural stereotypes are very common these days; masses are often labeled before
they are even given a chance. More specifically, Chinese people fall victim to these stereotypes quite
often and are judged unreasonably because of this. Chinese kids are often used by their parents to
show off to their friends and family, every Chinese person is skilled in some kind of musical
extracurricular, and they all speak broken English is just some of the many stereotypes in The Joy

The Payment System Used For Settlement Of Retail Payment...
In this competitive era, it is imperative for a well functioning economy to imply effective methods for
businesses to pay their employees, suppliers and investors, for households to purchase goods and
services, and for governments to collect taxes and make payments, such as pensions and interest on
bonds. These payments, known as retail or low value payments include debit and credit card
transactions, cheques and direct entry transactions (Hunt Terry 2014). In order to improve the
efficiency of the payment system, Reserve Bank of Australia introduced a new settlement
arrangement. The new same day settlement system would increase the rate of supply of funds and
reduce the risks associated with deferred net payment system. The ... Show more content on

According to the Reserve Bank of Australia (2015), large value payments are settled one by one on a
real time gross settlement (RTGS) basis, while retail payments (which make up to 10% of the value of
RITS interbank settlement) are settled on a net settlement basis. However, for several years, net
clearing was undertaken after hours of tallying ADIs deposited amounts during the day. The ADIs
would calculate the net amounts each of them owed to one another to settle their obligations on
payment orders. Only then, the RBA would be advised of the cleared net obligations and the
transferring of ES funds would take place the next day at 9 A.M. Although this system, referred to as
deferred net payment system(DNS) handles very large payment orders deposited each day by net
clearing to reduce the amount of funds ADIs have to pay for settlement of obligations(Hunt Terry
2014), the payments are still deferred until the next day. This phenomenon generally poses a
disadvantage of settlement risk (an ADI might default on their obligations). Moreover, if an ADI was
unable to settle their obligations due to insufficient funds, the whole settlement process would be
delayed. The longer the period between settlements, the larger these credit exposures could become,
and the greater the opportunity for an institution to default on these obligations (Fraser Gatty 2014).
Hence, the payment system board decided to make a

The Importance Of Concealed Weapons In Education
Lastly, concealed weapons should not be allowed on campus as they would distract from a positive
learning experience. College classrooms must be a place where faculty and students feel safe to
express their opinions. While, the introduction of handguns could inhibit dialog among students by
creating an atmosphere of fear of retaliation from someone that disagrees with a fellow student s
opinion. Teachers may feel trepidation or hesitant to criticize a difficult student s work for fear of the
possibility the student could be carrying a concealed weapon. In order to, promote a positive education
students must feel comfortable in their environment to flourish. This would be diminished if college

The Jeffersonian Republicans And Federalists Essay
By 1817 the great American experiment was in full swing. America was developing into an effective
democratic nation. However as the democracy continued to grow, two opposing political parties
developed, the Jeffersonian Republicans and the Federalists. The Jeffersonian Republicans believed in
strong state governments, a weak central government, and a strict interpretation of the Constitution.
The Federalists saw it differently. They opted for a powerful central government with weaker state
governments, and a loose interpretation of the Constitution. The seemingly solid divide between
Federalist and Republican would begin to blur during the presidencies of Thomas Jefferson and James
Madison. For, neither Republican president was able lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As his presidency continued Jefferson began drifting further away from the original ideals of the
Republican Party. His decisions no longer reflected a strict interpretation of the Constitution, but
resembled the loose construction of the Constitution employed by the Federalists. When he made the
decision to purchase the Louisiana Territory in 1803, effectively doubling the territory of the USA, he
loosely interpreted the Constitution like that of a federalist by working around the Constitution. No
where did the Constitution state that the president had the power to make such a purchase, but by
using the necessary and proper clause as a loop pole he made the purchase. He went against his party
doctrine of strict interpretation in order to expand American domain and to protect the US from the
threat of a resurgent France. Another show of Republican movement away from being strict
constructionist was when Jefferson passed The Embargo Act of 1807, which banned all foreign
exports. Supported by Document C, the Embargo Act was extremely unpopular with the American
public. No where in the listing of the presidential powers did it state that a law such as the Embargo

Colloids For Research Paper
Solutions, colloids, and suspensions are all types of mixtures. Suspensions and colloids are classified
as heterogeneous mixtures and solutions are classified as the homogeneous mixture. Solutions are
single atoms that never settle and are transparent which also means clear. Colloids are aggregates of
atoms, molecules, or ions, they can settle and they are transparent with a Tyndall effect. Suspensions
are clumps of particles such as sand and their movement is by gravity with the translucent effect. An
example of a solution is sugar dissolving in water because the solute the sugar is being dissolved in

particular solvent, yielding a saturated solution(biology online). The solubility of solids increases with
the temperature. The increasing of the temperature allows the solvent molecules to easily detach the
solute molecules that are held by intermolecular attractions. The solubility of gases is a little more
complicated because as the temperature increase the kinetic energy also increases which causes more
motion of the molecules to move more freely. There re two ways for material to be dissolved the first
way is dipole to dipole which is molecular and the second way is dipole to ion which is ionic.

Glass Movie Reflection
As I watched the movie, I noticed a variety of hints that made me question Glass character and I was a
little frustrated that the other characters weren t able to pick up on them. I first sensed that Glass was a
little odd when he kept downgrading himself and his own work. This begins when Glass is talking to
Gloria and he says that his piece is going Horrible and moves into a meeting with Amy and Caitlin
where he says that they hate his piece, it s the worst thing he s ever wrote , and that he might as well
kill himself . This all happening within the first ten minutes of the movie, was causing red flags to pop
up in my head, wondering how he could be so self loathing and dramatic without anyone noticing. As
the movie progresses, I can see that Glass is using his self loathing to manipulate his coworkers into
helping him on his papers, dodging discipline from editors, and averting inquisitiveness away from his
pieces. One of the key phrases that I noticed he always used was Did I do something wrong? Are you
mad at me? which usually was reverberated with a resilient no . This stressed that he was emotionally
manipulating his coworkers in order to get away with his falsified work. All of these actions are what I
would consider a flawed person. His manipulation, blatant lies, and exaggeration s are what I believe
make him a flawed especially when he applied it to his line of work. The reason that these attributes

The World Of Puerto Rico Essay
Boriqua! is a commonly used term among the people of Puerto Rico when referring to themselves or

It is a small island, only 100 miles long and 35 miles wide, located in the Caribbean Ocean. It is about
1,000 miles off the tip of Florida in between the Dominican Republic and the Virgin Islands. The
climate is tropical and mild with little variation in the seasonal temperature. The country is composed
of one large island and many smaller islands. Puerto Rico is home to 3.6 million people, and its capital
city San Juan is home to almost 400,000 people. Spanish and English are the two main languages

boricua is linked with Puerto Rico s native heritage. The word comes from Boriken, the Taíno word
for the island (NationFacts), the Great Land of the Valiente and Noble Lord (prfdance.org).
The population of Puerto Rico is a mix of culture and ethnicities, whose origins can be traced back to
native Taino, Spanish and West African roots. On Columbus second voyage to the New World in 1493,
the Spaniards came across the island of Puerto Rico. At that time the island was populated by peaceful
indigenous people called the Taino indians (prfdance.org). The Taino welcomed the Spaniards, but the

Analysis of The Great Gatsby
The author of The Great Gatsby was F. Scott Fitzgerland whose usage of diction, image, details,
figurative language and different type of structures of the sentence(syntax) creates the passage more
visible and understandable. For example, the author uses a word the valley of ashes to describe the
valley. Furthermore, he creates an image in the reader s mind with descriptive and concise words for
the valley in the better structure of the sentence. Besides, he also uses the figurative language to create
a better image that helps the reader to comprehend the story. Moreover, he uses detail such as the eye
of doctor T.J. are blue and gigantic, to convince the reader to ponder about how important it is to the
story. Overall, the author presented the finest story using his different techniques of writing which
assists the readers to understand the significance of incomplete goals that the main character had.

To do this, you ll need a plain unlubricated condom and the cardboard tube from the center of a roll of
paper towels. Cut the cardboard tube lengthwise, then close it into a cylinder that s as wide as you
want the dildo to be, and tape it. Fill the condom with water, tie it shut, and suspend it in the tube with
a piece of string; the cardboard tube will prevent the water from bulging in the dildo. Then place it
upright in the freezer. In a few hours, you ll have a seamless dildo made of ice whatever diameter you
like! This can be used for vaginal or anal play; you can find illustrated step by step directions here.
Note: Before penetrating anything with an ice cube, run water over it to prevent it from sticking to
delicate membranes. Bubble wrap can be used to make a great, and unusual, dildo, in virtually any
width you want. Take a length of bubble wrap and roll it tightly, bubble side out for additional texture,
until it s as thick as you like. Place a condom over the roll of bubble wrap, and use a rubber band or

Like Water For Chocolate Literary Analysis
Reading can allow you weave together elements to associate unexpected alterations of reality through
perceptions of Magical realism. In terms of archetypal events, the frequent uses portray a better
understanding of universal experiences explored in Like Water for Chocolate by Laura
Esquirel.Magical realism is infusing magical elements into everyday situations, conditions, and
practices. Adding fantastic elements to any piece of writing gives an example or image to the reader to
better understand what is happening throughout the writing using everyday events to have a better

The wedding of Rosaura and Pedro is a good example of magical realism in the book. Tita, saddened
by the soon to be married couple, cried as she made the wedding cake and a tear fell into the mix. This
tear causes the monumental wedding disaster. On page 39 the magical realism of accentuated detail
begins, The moment they took their first bite of the cake, everyone was flooded with a great wave of
longing. The people eating the cake felt Tita s longing for the wedding, but that s not the pinnacle of
the detail. The greatest moment of magical realism is on the next page, She struggled to control her
nausea, but it was too much for her! Her only concern was to keep her wedding dress from being
fouled by the degradations of her relatives and friends; but as she crossed the patio she slipped and
every inch of her dress ended up coated with vomit. She was swept away in a raging rotting river for
several yards; she couldn t hold back anymore, and she spewed out great noisy mouthfuls of vomit,
like an erupting volcano, right before Pedro s horrified eyes. As shown in this excerpt, the vomiting
and ruining of the horrid wedding wouldn t have been as revolting as it is without magical realism. I
the author decided not to use magical realism this raging rotting river

Structuralism and Reality in Wrestling Essay
When discussing structuralism, I find that it takes a realistic viewpoint of how the world is
represented, as we essentially are awash in concepts and signs via the structures of communication
and language. In this week s readings I found more depth to the ideas behind structuralism that my
previous exposures, especially when looking to Roland Barthes The World of Wrestling from his
collection Mythologies. The World of Wrestling provided ample insight into how the structuralist idea
of difference plays into deriving meaning (or meanings) from literature in innumerable ways,
especially in how the reception of specific mythemes and signifiers evoke structurally conditioned
responses from the public.
One of the most important concepts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Livre, or book, cannot represent the actual physical existence of the book, rather it acts as a pointer
toward the idea of the real object or concept out in the world. So thus, each utterance in a language
points to a concrete concept, and how that concept is understood through language reflects on how a
speaker (or writer, artist, comedian, dancer, so on; all are forms of expression and/or language) views
and interprets the world based on their given structural understanding of the world. Each reader
assumes, due to prior exposure to the structure of their given communication (be it French, English,
American Sign Language), that when the signifier appears, the built in, tag along concept will follow.
Extending this to literature each text is a speech act in its own right. Looking at an individual text, as
the New Critics would, would equate evaluating his pitch and equating it to meaning. In this case an
individual text is an utterance within the system, an example of parole (Bressler 99). However,
looking at the text for how it expresses meaning, how it works on its audiences preconceptions (or
lack thereof) exposes the underlying structures at play, not only in the world of literature, but in how

Abby Wambach Research Paper
Luckily, I have name that grants me room for change. Abigail B. Sokol would sound sophisticated and
professional if I become a doctor, as my mother envisioned. Abs is what I am called on the basketball
court for a quick, one syllable signal. Actually, the name I respond to best is Abby; it has a voice of its
own that I have always thought of as bubbly and cute. At this point in my life, the word Abby best fits
who I am. Throughout my life, I have become fluent in three languages: English Spanish, and
sarcasm. According to www.kabalarians.com, Abby means I am generally good natured, though at
times can be blunt and sarcastic. My friend Kendall purposely sent homework answers in another

With her real name being Mary Abigail Wambach, she has gone by Abby since birth, as I did. As the
highest all time goal scorer, Abby Wambach conquered a 12 year career with the United States
National Women s Soccer Team. Although I am not the highest all time goal scorer , an important goal
I happened two years ago when the game was tied; I got on the field, and I hammered the ball in the
back of the net to secure our last win of the season. Wambach began playing soccer at the age of four;
I was exactly four years old when my mom found my little legs led me into all sorts of trouble, so the
solution was soccer. I was nine years old when I earned a position on Canton Celtic, a competitive
travel soccer team. My determination and enthusiasm to improve my skills and accuracy shows in the
summer as I constantly beg my brother Tommy to come outside to pass the soccer ball with me and
block my shots on net. Last weekend, during a limited stretch of beautiful days in February, one would
find me competing in a pickup game of soccer on the grass fields of Independence Park with my
buddies Alex, Ashley, Ian, and multiple strangers we asked to play once we arrived. Wambach and I
both go by the nickname Abby because the name means we are driven, ardent athletes ready to excel

Le An Objective For Prohibition
Abstract: Lean is a conspicuous theory and application which expects the use of a wide range of assets

Tuberculosis In The Homeless Population
Findings of tuberculosis in the homeless population are no surprise, as this specific population has a
high incidence of conditions that increase the risk of TB, including: substance abuse, HIV infection,

Passion To Teach For America While my dedication to teaching at some capacity has been a lifelong passion, I would like to explain why I want to join Teach for America by starting at the beginning of my own academic journey: I could not read a sentence until I was in third grade, two to three full years behind my average peer. In addition to being hopelessly behind in both reading and mathematics, I had terrible experiences with bullying. The combination of poor academic performance and social issues was deadly to my ability to learn. It took a year and two teachers who were incredibly dedicated to my individual progress to catch me up to my peers. And that was all I needed two teachers who noticed and cared to begin my work towards an eventual Ivy League education ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Alfred Hitchcock s Movie, Psycho and its Impact on the... Alfred Hitchcock s Movie, Psycho and its Impact on the Film Industry The 1960 s marked a big change in American cinema. With the collapse of the Hollywood Studio System came a weakening of censorship laws; sex and violence moved from obscurity to the forefront of mainstream cinema (Nowell Smith 464). Although it quickly became clear that a market existed for such films, the earliest attempts to foray into the world of modern cinema were met with ambivalence. Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho, made in 1960, was one of the first of many to depict sexuality and violence in a graphic manner (Nowell Smith 491). Although the youth market was ready for such a change, the older audience resisted the modern trends. For this reason, Psycho was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As he put it: Our big problem...is trying to make the censors understand that the young people are much more sophisticated than they used to be (Kapsis 58). Hitchcock explained the reason for filming a woman wearing only her under garments in the opening sequence of Psycho: Audiences are changing....The straightforward kissing scene would be looked down at by the younger viewers....Nowadays you have to show them as they themselves behave (Hitchcock 1). The director was keenly aware of how audiences responded to his films (Rebello 163) and sought to maintain their interest. He was among a handful of Hollywood filmmakers who deliberately sought out innovative composers (Nowell Smith 258); for Psycho, Hitchcock hired Bernard Hermann who wrote a modern score which challenged the norm. The title itself, fifties and sixties slang for the violently psychotic, suggested the imminence of a new generation (Brill 200). Fully aware that his film was unconventional and daring, Hitchcock used the media to sell his film to a younger, fresher audience (Kapsis 13). It was advertised as: Alfred Hitchcock s greatest, most shocking mystery with a galaxy of stars (Greene 1). The stars themselves (Janet Leigh, Vera Miles, and Anthony Perkins) were of a younger generation than the top stars Hitchcock had previously employed for his films (Finler 131). • 4. Analysis Of The Second Sex By Simone De Beauvoir Simone de Beauvoir starts her second volume of book, The Second Sex, with the statement, One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman (267). This is one of the most famous statement of de Beauvoir. She argues that a woman is not born fragile, passive, or secondary; she is forced by her environment and the society to become so. A woman learns her role from her circumstance. She is not born shy, gentle, or passive, but is gradually shaped in that way by her upbringing. I agree with de Beauvoir s argument. I also believe that femininity does not come from birth, it is shaped by our culture and sophistication. The difference between characteristics of male and female is not because of any biological reasons, but it is because of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are a lot of criticism on this topic. Many people argue that men are biologically stronger, and are risk takers. They claim women focus more on emotions. I do agree that men and women are physically different. Men, on average, have greater muscle mass and denser bones. Men tend to be taller, and have weigh more than women, in general. However, it has nothing to do with strength. Many women lift weights and train hard nowadays. Those women will be able to do any sort of physical activity like men do. Women s bodies are capable to attaining the strength that a man s body can. Now, one might argue women have to train to be strong, but men are naturally strong. This argument is not valid because women are not given a chance to use their strength since a young age. Whenever there is a need to lift, shift or move heavy things, men are asked to do so. Girls from a young age learns that it is not her job to lift things, so she does not care about strengthening herself. Therefore, feminine and masculine characteristics and behavior that are not tied to biology but instead originate from the culture specific perception, treatment of what sex you are and should be. If children would see women lifting and pushing weights, they would not think that only men should be strong. If they would see their father taking care of them like their mothers do, they would not think that only women are tender ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this competitive era, it is imperative for a well functioning economy to imply effective methods for businesses to pay their employees, suppliers and investors, for households to purchase goods and services, and for governments to collect taxes and make payments, such as pensions and interest on bonds. These payments, known as retail or low value payments include debit and credit card transactions, cheques and direct entry transactions (Hunt Terry 2014). According to the Reserve Bank of Australia (2015), large value payments are settled one by one on a real time gross settlement (RTGS) basis, while retail payments (which make up to 10% of the value of RITS interbank settlement) are settled on a net settlement basis. However, for several years, net clearing was undertaken after hours of tallying ADIs deposited amounts during the day. The ADIs would calculate the net amounts each of them owed to one another to settle their obligations on payment orders. Only then, the RBA would be advised of the cleared net obligations and the transferring of ES funds would take place the next day at 9 A.M. Although this system, referred to as deferred net payment system(DNS) handles very large payment orders deposited each day by net clearing to reduce the amount of funds ADIs have to pay for settlement of obligations(Hunt Terry 2014), the payments are still deferred until the next day. This phenomenon generally poses a disadvantage of settlement risk (an ADI might default on their obligations). Moreover, if an ADI was unable to settle their obligations due to insufficient funds, the whole settlement process would be delayed. The longer the period between settlements, the larger these credit exposures could become, and the greater the opportunity for an institution to default on these obligations (Fraser Gatty 2014).
