Inaccuracies In Malcolm X
Malcolm X s significance is still existent till this day. He might have not been able to fully
address his final ideology to the world, but he was able to show people the real meaning of
being a human. He was capable of convincing people of his beliefs regardless of their accuracy
using his great charisma and leadership skills. Adding to that, when he found out that most of his
beliefs were imprecise he did not hesitate to let his followers know about it, ignoring the danger he
was getting into by confessing. Malcolm Xset a very good life example of the human mind and
soul development through the course of his life. The film displayed a very accurate portrayal,
yet there was some minor inaccuracies that were not very debatable. The film s basic plot was
about a black child, Malcolm X, who was taken away from his mother after the murder of his
father to move in with a foster family. He grew up in the white society where he was treated
differently and as an outlier. As a junior high student Malcolm was advised by his teacher to
consider future jobs that were realistic for black people when he told him about his passion for
law. This caused him to feel disheartened and drop out of school a few years later.... Show more

Nevertheless, there were some insignificant inaccuracies in the film. For instance, when
Malcolm was first captured by the policemen, he was not at his house trying to wash his hair as
seen in the movie, but was actually detained while picking up one of his stolen watches from a
repair shop. Besides, Malcolm did not convert to Islam because of John Bembry only, but
because of his brother (Wikipedia, 2015). Likewise, he was not made aware of Elijah Mohamed s
deeds by his wife initially but by Elijah Mohamed s son (YouTube, 2015). These were the most
apparent imprecisions, however they are not so important for they did not fictionalize the real life
of Malcolm in anyway (Biography.com,

Essay about The Media’s Effect on Adolescent Bodies
The Media s Effect on Adolescent Bodies
The stringent standard Barbie doll proportions of body image and what is considered beautiful
in today s media has resulted in devastating effects on adolescent women. The images displayed
of women who have long beautiful legs, thin waist lines and smooth flawless skin are very hard
to ignore. Throughout history the female body has been on display as a selling tool to coerce
people into buying that new fancy car or the latest new appliance that can make their everyday
lives easier. Commercials of the extremely thin Kelly Ripa can act as a mantra of what a modern
day picture perfect house wife should look like standing beside her magical ovens and washing
machines. There are also constant ads on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In her book The Beauty Myth, Naomi Wolf criticizes the media and its negative effects on women
by stating that every woman should be allowed the choice to do whatever we want with our faces
and bodies without being punished by an ideology that is using attitudes, economic pressure, and
even legal judgments regarding women s appearance to undermine us psychologically and
politically (10). Some of the most common negative effects that young girls are experiencing are
physical, emotional, and social.
The physical effect s that the media has on a young girl s overall beauty and body image are
staggering. Many young girls put their bodies through painful physical transformations. They
want to look just like their favorite celebrities or to fit into the latest fashion trends and appeal to
the media s idea of what the opposite sex wants them to look like. Willis s The Culture of Beauty,
argues this point by saying The Media distract women from focusing on what bodies do...
dressing up, dressing down or sculpting our bodies in pursuit of a profile the we d be happy to
avoid dressing altogether. They print lessons available to male readers regarding what s desirable
and ideal when it comes to the sizes and shapes of women s body parts (106 107). What s even
more disturbing is the physical appearance of girls who starve themselves to reach the

Heteronormativity Essay
Heteronormativity has not accepted the fact that there is no need to be a heterosexual couple to
engage in sexual or romantic activities or that there is no need to be born with the right genre.
This negation has had a negative impact in lives of people who identify themselves in a distinct
manner from the ones that are considered normal . One of the most important consequences that
this assumption can be found in mental health. An example of this was shown by Todd (as cited
by Wilchins, 1997) trans identity is not a natural fact. Rather, it is the political category we are
forced to occupy when we do certain things with our bodies. That so many of us try to take our
own lives, mutilate ourselves, or just succeed in dying quietly of shame, depression, or loneliness
is not an accident. We are supposed to feel isolated and desperate. Outcast. That is the whole point
of the system. Our feelings are not causes but effects. (p33)... Show more content on

However, there are some people who defend the idea that mental illnesses or problems related to
the mind are not merely delineated by how society treats you, but it is a correlation between
phenotypical and genotypical features potentiated by the context a person is born and the life
history of the last one.Even though this argument could be supported by scientific evidence, this
does not rest importance to the fact that heteronomativity has a huge influence on how a person
perceives himself and faces the world because of how this belief is tightly woven in society. To
conclude, one of the ways in which this standard affects people is by rejecting them causing further
problems because this makes people feel as outcasts and has an impact in their psychological

Parable Of The Wedding Banquet Essay
The Parable of the Wedding Banquet Short Analysis Throughout his ministry on earth, Jesus taught
a number of his lessons through parables, or short and simple stories used to explain a certain
moral or spiritual lesson. Many of these parables were relatable to the Jewish people of Jesus time,
and were taught in a way that the common people could understand them. Some allude to the nature
of the Kingdom of God, while others teach people to treat others. The Parable of the Wedding
Banquet, as seen above, tells the story of a king who is holds a wedding feast for his son and the
interesting event that unfold throughout it. The story can be found in Matthew 22:1 14. This essay

The marriage as a whole represents the Kingdom of God. According to author Matthew Henry,
The King is God, a great King, King of kings. (Henry p.1725). The marriage is for His Son, Jesus,
with the church as His bride (p.1725). The servants represent the early prophets and apostles, sent to
bring the invitation to the Kingdom to the Jews (Darby, Henry, Johnson).
The king, God, extends the first invitation to attend the Kingdom out to the Jews. The people
invited refuse to come, some even mistreating and killing the messengers. When the parable refers
to the destruction of the Jews when the king sends out his army to burn their city. The city,
according to Henry, refers to the destruction of Jerusalem, which is burned about forty years later
(Henry p.1726). Then, the invitation is extended to everyone, included the Gentiles (Darby, Henry,
Johnson). Everyone is now invited to enter the Kingdom of Heaven no matter their social status.
Though everyone is invited, Jesus warns against hypocrites. The garments that the guests wore
represent the righteousness of Christ (Wesley, Johnson). Those not clothed in this righteousness are
those in the church who are false friends to Jesus Christ, who say that they love him while in their
hearts are not with him. (Henry p.1727). Jesus warns us against being hypocritical and to accept

Essay about Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights
Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights
1)
The story takes place in the early XIXth century. There are two characters in this extract : Mr
Lockwood and Catherine Linton. Mr
Lockwood is the first narrator of this novel, he was one of Mr
Heathcliff s tenants. At the beginning of the story , there were three characters : Heathcliff, a
foundling, his sister Catherine and his brother Hindley. Catherine fell in love with Heathcliff, but
was married with Edgar Linton. So, the second character we meet here is
Catherine Linton, Edgar Linton s daughter. This extract belongs to the end of the novel. Catherine
comes back to the farm Wuthering Heights, she tries to get in the house trough the window. Mr

So Mr Lockwood does not see her, and when she says that she is Catherine Linton, he does not
believe her because he had never seen her. We see that Mr Lockwood is shocked ; the situation is
ambiguous for him because he meets in a very unusual way the person who had written the diary he
had just read. But for the reader, the situation is not ambiguous because we know who is Catherine
Linton. We know that the scene is a combination of cicumstances ; Catherine wanted to come back
to Wuthering Heights, she just wanted to get in the house. The combination of circumstances
makes that Mr Lockwood, trying to catch the branch, had been surprised by Catherine. But she has
no intention of surprising Mr Lockwood. So, we could say that the gloomy atmosphere leads Mr
Lockwood to confused feelings, between sanity and madness.
The text could be set between sanity and madness for different reasons with regard to the two
charcters present in this scene : Mr Lockwood and Catherine Linton. Both charcters can be indeed
considered as mad but in the same time, they show sanity in their actions and reactions.
Catherine Linton came back to Wuthering Heights because she wanted to find her origins in this
place where her mother lived and above all because she had an affair with the owner of the farm
: Heathcliff. But she had never lived in this farm, so she didn t know how to get in and maybe

Management and Operations Management Theory
ABSTRACT
This paper defines the four functions of management and the operations management theory. It then
provides an analysis of how the functions of management the operations management.
THE FOUR FUNCTIONS OF MANAGEMENT
Planning: It is an act of formulating a program for a definitive course of action. The management
defines a goal and puts forward its strategies to accomplish the objectives defined.
Organizing: To divide the work force into specific groups and giving each group a specific task.
Organizing also involves ensuring that a smooth flow of information and co ordination exists
between these groups. Thus the basic aim of organizing is to simply divide the work load and

IMPACT OF MANAGEMENT FUNCTION ON OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
This section analyses the impact that the previously discussed functions of management has on the
operations management.
Planning is the most important pillar of operations management. When an organization plans its
goals and sets down its strategies, it then becomes easier for the managerial level to decide and
distribute the work load. Without any plan of action, the organization or company would not know
what it is working towards. For a manufacturing company, planning would include product design.
For work to be conducted on the principles of operations management, organizing plays an
important role. Workload needs to be divided in such an efficient manner that the skills of an
employee or a group of employees are used to the fullest. Overloading any employee would result in
deficient outputs and derogatory work which would naturally be time consuming.
As the goal of organizing is to produce better results, similarly leading or motivating is necessary
for an organization to extract maximum performance out of the workers. With appealing incentives,
workers would work honestly and put in their best. This in turn would save the company time and
there would be a complete control of the managerial department over things like production control
and quality control. When an employee is

The Use of Force
The Use of Force The point of view in the story The Use of Force is in first person narrative. This
conveys inner the inner thoughts of the narrator as the doctor. The doctor is a reliable narrator
and an observer. I feel that his personality is brought out in the doctor. So the doctors thoughts
and behaviors are a reflection of the authors. As for the setting it takes place at a family s home.
I think it takes place somewhere in the early 1900 s. I think it would make a difference to the story
if it were set somewhere else, only because if the sick girlwas brought to like a hospital for
example, maybe she would have been diagnosed and helped sooner without all the hassle that
occurred at the house. The diction of the story is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So it didn t effect the point of the story. Something that really puzzled me in the story was when
the first old lady ran after Marian in the hall and sort of grabbed her by her hair and asked her for
a penny. I didn t understand that point and I don t think it made much sense to the story. The
conflict in the story is when Marian actually goes into the old women s room. The conflict isn t
very clear, but its very obvious there is a problem. The first old women is very outgoing, and the
second old women, is angry, and bitter. So there s a bit of clashing going on with them and it
shows when they spoke to each other. The events that led up to the plot are Marian going into
the Old women s home, being in the room and communicating with them til finally she gets so
scared she runs out. The theme of this story is also irony. Everything in the story conveyed the
theme irony, only because everything seemed like the opposite of what it should have been. For
instance when Marian goes to the old women s home for charity. The purpose of charity is to
help people who cant help themselves, or to do something nice for someone. In the story, Marian
isn t doing it to be helpful, she is only visiting the old women for extra points for her campfire
girls. Another example of the irony was the old women constantly disagreed or contradicted each
other. One old women was overly optimistic and ignorant of Addies constant negativity and
rudeness towards her. You would expect

Osteoporosis Is The Most Common Chronic
Osteoporosis is translated from the Greek and literally means porous bone .It is the most common
chronic, metabolic bone disease in the U.S.A, resulting in osteopenia and fractures in spine , hip
and wrist. In addition osteoporosis is progressive, and the skeletal fragility often leads to disabling
fractures (hip fractures) and even death. Primary osteoporosisis a result of aging, whereas secondary
osteoporosis occurs at any age, is a consequence to certain medication as well as diseases.
Throughout life the skeletal system is constantly changing. Bone modeling, formation and growth
of bones, occurs from birth to early adulthood resulting in increase in skeletal mass and changes
in skeletal form. Naturally the peak bone mass is achieved in the third decade of life, meaning
the bones are at their strongest state in human development. Bone remodeling, a response to
micro trauma and stress on the bone, is a dynamic process that also occurs through life. Bone is
composed of collagen type 1, a protein, minerals such as calcium and phosphate and bone
forming cells (osteoblasts and osteocytes) as wells as bone resorbing cells known as osteoclasts.
Calcium is a main contributor of bone strength. In fact 99% of calcium is stored in bones and
teeth with one percent remaining in the blood. The process of bone remodeling is activated by
stressors such as weight bearing and is necessary to maintain bone mass in an adult. It s a dynamic
process in which bone resorption is always

Theme Of Wealth In Great Expectations
In Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens, wealth is a common theme that has varying effects on
different characters and their attitudes. Pip and Drummle are both people whose experiences with
money shape who they are, and how they act. Throughout the first part of the novel, Dickens
writing shows that money does not always equal happiness.
Pip has had no experiences with the upper class by the beginning of Great Expectations, and as a
result, he is satisfied with his conventional life. But, this all changes when he starts going to the
Satis house and socializing with Ms. Havisham and her daughter, Estella. After seeing what Pip
feels his life should be, he becomes dissatisfied with his social class, even stating I wished Joe
had been rather more genteelly brought up, and then I should have been so too. , Implying that he
is also unhappy with the upbringing of his family members. His preoccupation with wealth and
status causes him to grow distant from his family and friends, a decision that he later regrets. Pip
reflects, It is a most miserable thing to feel ashamed of home. There may be black ingratitude in
the thing, and the punishment may be retributive and well deserved, but that is a miserable thing, I
can testify. He is ashamed of his home because he feels that his and his family s financial status is ...

Havisham s characters both reacted negatively to money and the responsibilities attached to it. Pip
began his life without money, yet it still caused him grief even when he got his fortune. Ms.
Havisham was born into the lap of luxury, but her wealth ultimately hindered her ability to heal and
function as a normal human being. Without the influence of money, perhaps these characters would
have found happiness earlier on in life, and their expectations could have been less great.
Ultimately, the saying that money can t buy happiness is true, but it is much more comfortable to

Hurricane Impact On Tropical And Subtropical Waters
A hurricane is referred to a storm that forms over tropical and subtropical waters. Hurricanes have
the power to destroy life and property. Hurricanes are referred to as Typhoons in the Western
Pacific and Cyclones in Southeast Asia. On average, the Hurricane Season begins on June 1 and
ends on November 30. A Hurricane s intensity is measured on the Saffir Simpson Hurricane Wind
Scale. A storm is classified as a hurricane when its wind speed goes above 74 mph (NOAA 2014).
A hurricane is classified on a 1 to 5 category, based on its maximum wind speed. The higher the
category, the greater the hurricane is potential for damage.
A hurricane forms over warm waters near the equator. A hurricane goes through four stages of
development from a disturbance to a hurricane. The first stage is known as Tropical
Disturbance. Tropical Disturbance is a weak storm over tropical waters, containing mild winds,
clouds, and precipitation. The second stage is known as a Tropical Depression. A Tropical
Depression is formed when a group of thunderstorms comes together to produce circular wind
flow. A Tropical Depression flows with maximum sustained winds below 39 mph (NASA 2015).
The third stage in hurricane formation is known as a Tropical Storm. A Tropical Storm forms
when a tropical depression s cyclonic circulation becomes more organized and produces winds up
to 73 mph. The fourth and final step of hurricane formation is the hurricane itself. A tropical storm

Managing Resistance to Change during a Merger
For most, resistance to change inevitable, for some it is their personality and others it is fear of the
unknown. Organizational structure may change through downsizing, outsourcing, acquisitions, or
mergers. In this paper, I will be examining resistance to change during a merger and how to manage
this type of stressful and many times unclear change in an organization. There are three key
strategies for managing resistance to change; communication, participation, and empathy and
support. Throughout this paper I will discuss the three strategies above as well as some other
contributing factors to change in an organization.
People often resist change based on fear of the unknown, fear of loss, fear of failure, disruption of

Many times anxiety can grow because employees fear loss of the organizations traditions. It is
important to involve employees on the transition or modifications to traditions, celebrations, and
other activities that help shape the organizations culture. It is important for both organizations in a
merger to be sensitive to the others rituals and ceremonies and to work towards a compromise and
build new traditions supported by the majority.
Kurt Lewin developed a model of the change process that has stood the test of time and continues
to influence the way organizations manage planned change. Lewin s change model is a three step
process. The process begins with unfreezing, which is a critical first obstacle in the change
process. Unfreezing involves encouraging individuals to shed old behaviors by changing the status
quo. The second step in the change process is moving. In the moving stage, new attitudes, values,
and behaviors are substituted for old ones. Organizations accomplish moving by initiating new
options and explaining the rationale for the change, as well as by providing training to help
employees develop the new skills they need. The last step in the change process is Refreezing. In
this step, new attitudes, values, and behaviors are established as the new normal. The new ways of
operating are concrete and reinforced. Managers should ensure

Imbalance In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
Imbalance is at the center of mayhem
As the French philosopher Baron de Montesquieu believed, a system of checks and balances of
power are necessary to have a society. William Golding had written the Lord of the Flies, a book
about a group of young boys stranded on a island needing to find ways of survival. His book
portrays how Montesquieu s idea of checks and balances are needed to make an ideal
community. On the island, Jack and Ralph were the two boys that seemed most fit to be leaders
among these stranded boys and at first the island was a safe place for living, until Jack gains more
and more control where the levels of authority are not equal. With Jack having most of the control,
there is an absence of balance and this absence of balance between powers on the island causes
the boys turn to savagery and chaos. Golding writes of the boys failing to have a mindset of
surviving together by living their life on the island with an imbalance of power to govern
themselves and by having this imbalance, the boys kill each other and destroy the island to rise in
dominance, which is what Montesquieu predicted would happen if there was no checks of power
and balance between sides.
In the Lord of the Flies, Golding shows how the boys on the island fail to govern themselves since
Jack s authority grows too fast and Ralph can t limit him. Golding s book agrees with how
Montesquieu believed having three branches of leadership ideally keeps the governmental system
balanced. There are

Similarities Between Locke And Hobbes
Most people in the eighteenth century believed in Newtonian science. Newton established natural
laws of the universe which then led people to compile a general list of laws that were from human
behaviors. In the chapter, there were two theories that were discussed. One being liberty while the
other being political. The political contract based in natural law was influenced by two English
philosophers, Thomas Hobbesand John Locke. The two shared diverse views. For example, Hobbes
believed that human being are selfish, greedy, and warlike. On the other side of the spectrum,
Locke believed that human beings have the natural ability to justify the common good, and to be
equal. The two philosophers believed that the government should be based

If an actor finds herself getting extremely nervous or if the attempt at raising her self confidence
does not work, she can try to calm herself down by thinking of things that make her happy and
excited. These thoughts take the mind away from what is going on and soothe the actor into a more
calm state suitable for performance.
Sarah closed her eyes and tried thinking of different things that could possibly calm her down. She
thought of her dog back at home and how he would run after the tennis ball she threw; she thought
of her friends and all the fun they had when they went dancing. Sarah grew a big smile on her face
until she suddenly heard someone from the stage calling Juliet! She opened her eyes and jumped
up. It was only her name being stated, not her cue. She was relieved.
Smiling in relief, Sarah looked back out on stage. She saw the actors and saw the audience, and
began feeling that tingling sensation in her hands once again and immediately sat back down.
She tried closing her eyes and thinking of those happy times as she did before, but it did not help

The Sonnets Of Shakespeare Often Explore The Deeper Musings
The sonnets of Shakespeare often explore the deeper musings of the male narrator as he catalogues

as it discusses the narrator s deepest fear that, my [the narrator s] love was my dismay. The

readers of the sonnet. The narrator insists that the young man s worth is as wide as the ocean is
and, that, his (the young man s) humility is the proudest sail [he] doth bear . Although there is a
juxtaposition between pride and humility, the narrator s idea of the young man is justification
enough for his continued musings on the other man. The narrator affirms that he is content with
continuing to write and praise the young man despite his boat being far inferior to his (the other
suitor) . Because the narrator s saucy bark does willfully appear on the young man s broad main , it
further implicates that while the narrator knows there is a better spirit he also will continue writing
about the young man. Finally, as if rebutting an argument about why the narrator still cares for the
young man, the third quatrain explains how the narrator can keep writing of the young man. The
narrator, who is conscious of the other suitor, reasons that unlike the better spirit he merely needs
the young man s shallowest help to keep him afloat; he does not need the continuous soundless
deep that the other man needs. Additionally, the narrator also uses depth to emphasize how he and
the other poet can coexist in the young man s love; for as small boats use the shallows and

Measure Of Income Inequality
In the past 20 years income inequality has become a major issue in particular within the United
States (US) where a significant income gap has occurred. This is exemplified by the US Gini
index (GI), a measure of income inequality, which has risen from 43 in 1990 to around 47 in 2010
and is continuing to trend upward (David Moss, 2011). This has now become a problem that both
develop and developing nations face. The main causes being globalizationand technology. In
developed countries globalization has increased cheap foreign imports with technology making
importing extremely cost efficient. There s also the outsourcing or the replacement of low skill
jobs with newer technology. These two processes have contributed to higher profits for executives
while low skill workers are losing their jobs by the thousands. In developing countries
globalization has led to low skill workers having to compete in cheap labor markets dropping their
wages even further. Technology in these developing countries has also increased income inequality
with their lower class unable even be literate enough to learn newer technology. Therefore,
inequality damages economies and workforces on a world scale

Musical Theater Essay
Musical Theater Musical theater has always been something I looked at in a positive light
because it was somewhere I could be who I wanted to be, and I could play different people. There
are many reasons as to why I have chosen to go into theater as a career and they include the
freedom to create characters, the chance to meet new and exciting people, and the opportunity to
get up on stageevery night and give a performance. The possibilities are endless as to what can
happen in theater, and sometimes people get lucky enough to live their dream. A theater actor

shows. Sometimes actors go on tour. Actors have a talent for performing and entertaining... Show

A Brief Note On Mexico s Agricultural Sector
Mexico s agricultural sector is renown in the international community for a myriad of goods that it
produces. From the cultivation of crops, sustainable soils, land usage and irrigation systems, its
rich land has helped Mexico s economy prosper in the 21st century. This feat is largely due to the
country s production and exportation of maize, one of their largest crops. However, in recent times
Mexicos agriculturesector has been affected by the vices of climate change and greenhouse emission
gases amongst other natural phenomenons. For the purpose of this paper the change of climatic
patterns in areas of temperature, precipitation and intensity will be discussed, as well as its
correlation to climate change and current weather trends, which have created unsustainable
environments for maize to grow.
Historically, Mexico s agriculture sector has followed a traditional style of crop production
focused on small scale farming. According to Luc Dendooven of the Center for Research and
Advanced Studies at the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, traditional agriculture refer to
the widely used cultivation techniques that consist of low N fertilizer application rates, no or little
irrigation, removal of crop residue for animal feed or fuel, and little or no use of herbicides and
pesticides (237). The Mexican agricultural sector adapted this concept early on by utilizing basic
natural resources such as soil enrichment and rainfall. Such practice has been supported by author

Georgia And Victorian Fashion Trends
The Victorian and Georgian era are very similar in fashion ideas. Yet they were so different in a
variety of ways. Fashion was important during the Victorian and Georgian eras. These eras were
crucial and archaic. Comparing and contrasting the two different fashion styles will be helpful to
see the big picture of how their culture impacted fashion. As the years passed by, different styles
and trends kept changing. It is interesting to see the evolution of fashion from the Georgian and
Victorian eras to what is trending now, and describing their differences and similarities. John
Galliano and Lagerfeld were inspired by Marie Antoinette s fashion, many covers from popular
magazines such as Vogue were representing Marie s style and other women that caused a major
impact during both eras.
Clothing was intricate during many eras in England. The Georgian era was interesting and it was

differences between the Apple iOS and Google Android operating systems, in addition to
discussing the newest features for each. The Pros and Cons of each operating system are
discussed, in addition to a chart of relative market share on smartphone and tablet PCs. In addition
to relative market share, the number of application downloads will also be shown. Analysis Of
Differences Between Android And Apple iOS Mobile Operating Systems The most significant
differences between these mobile operating systems is the design philosophy of each, with Apple
choosing a closed architecture, and Google with Android, open. This design philosophy is the
catalyst of differences between Android and iOS operating systems. The next most significant
difference is Android being based on the popular open source kernel Linux while Apple built iOS
on OS X operating system (Manikas, Hansen, 1294). Additional differences include Android
offering the kernel, user interface and standard baseline applications all as open source,
configurable by developers. Another difference is the level of configurability and customization
that is supported on Android relative to iOS as exemplified by the open Application Programmer

metal to a temporary hazardous material which can cause burns, by physically changing the metal
by increasing the heat that is applied to the metal whether aluminum or steel and or some of other
alloy. According to OSHA The intense light associated with welding operations can cause serious
and sometimes permanent eye damage if operators do not wear proper eye protection. The intensity
of light or radiant energy produced by welding, cutting or brazing operations varies according to a
number of factors including the task producing the light, the electrode size and the arc current

Holden Caulfield Belonging
The Catcher in the Rye, a novel written by J. D. Salinger is a story about a unique yet troubled
boy named Holden Caulfield. Salinger masterfully depicts the story s protagonist as a well
rounded character who feels the full range of emotions. Holden is consumed by the desire to
live in a world where he can play the hero and surround himself with love and acceptance. Holden
s need for love and belonging, however, creates an irony because it provokes an intense aversion
to society that pushes Holden further away from achieving a sense of belonging. While in several
ways Holden epitomizes the average teenager, he is also exceptionally unique and shows maturity
beyond his years. According to Granville Hicks, Salinger depicts a character... Show more content

An individual on the third level the need for love and belonging seeks to overcome loneliness,
give love, and receive love in a stable way (47). For example, instead of staying at Pencey until
Wednesday, like Holden is supposed to, he attempts to go to New York and escape the loneliness
that Pencey brings him. His decision to leave is set off by his argument with Ackley, a boy in
the dorm next door. I just didn t want to hang around anymore, says Holden, it made me too sad
and lonesome (Salinger 51). Maybe Holden believes that he ll be able to find a sense of
belonging in New York. Carl Strauch infers that Holden s inability to relate to others and constant
rejection drive him to humiliation (506). Since Holden feels Pencey is the source of these painful
emotions, it is not surprising that he seeks to reinvent himself somewhere else so that he may have
a chance at having a sense of belongingness. Similar to Maslow s hierarchy of needs, Alfred Adler
had a theory called the style of life that can be used along with his other theories to assess an
individual s internal conflict. On the authority of Joanne Irving, Adler s theory of the style of life,
formerly called the life plan, comprises the fundamentals of Adlerian psychology. It states that
every individual must establish a set of goals with which they can apply their creative self in

dreams. He was quite the role model for civilians during his time and even today. As the only

The ornaments of the parlor which include the glass chandelier is decorated with a great
quantity of cut glass prisms. Growing up, Theodore was a very sickly child. He had a severe
case of asthma and would become weak very easily. His father said You have the mind, but not
the body. Without the health of the body, the mind cannot go as far as it should. You must make
your body. Theodore replied I will make my body! without any hesitation. Thus his father installed
a gym on the second floor of their home. He also took up boxing and became very strong and
physically active. He served in the Civil War, became an author, historian, explorer, statesman and
conservationist. Theodore Roosevelt s father, Franklin Roosevelt, was part of the Union and his
mother, Martha Bulloch, was a Confederate. However, his father did not want to serve in the war
because it meant he would have to shoot his wife s two brothers who were Confederate generals.
Therefore, he did what many wealthy men did during that time, and paid two men to take his
place. Even though Theodore Roosevelt looked up to his father, this impacted him in a very
negative way. Some historians even analyzed that his father buying men to take his place is what
influenced him to becoming a soldier and gave him the determination to prove that he was a good
one. As a young child, Theodore and his family went on a lot of trips to foreign countries.

Compare And Contrast Mary Magdalene And St. Peter Of Verona
Mary Magdalene and St. Peter of Verona (or St. Peter Martyr) are two wooden, Italian works of
art on display in the Greendale Special Collections and Archives in the Olin Library. The depiction
of Mary Magdalene predates St. Peter of Verona by about a century, made in the early 16th century,
with St. Peter of Verona coming into fruition in the 17th century. The two works are similar in
subject, that of the Catholic saint. Despite their similar functions and purposes, they are products of
their own time, revealed by the distinction of style between the two. The older figure, Mary
Magdalene, is in the form of a wooden relief. The relief is a low relief, with almost a two
dimensional feel. The size of the relief is not very big, indicating that this work may be one of
others in a series. Considering all of this, the work most likely functioned as an altarpiece or as a
door panel for a chapel. Although not too many traces of paint are left, the figure is in relatively
good condition. In this work, Mary Magdalene is depicted kneeling in prayer in the bottom
center of the work. She is looking up to the left corner, in which a cross stands. Mary is shown to
be outside, indicated by the hill the cross sits on top. To the right of Mary is an arch framing
over her head. To the bottom left of her is a container which most likely held either wine or spices.
The relief as a whole utilizes much of the wood, with there being hardly any negative space.

discovery as the narrator changes from being judgemental and shallow to having an epiphany and
realizing that an individual s worth goes beyond their outward appearance; that the greatest and
most deep connections are achieved by looking at one s heart.
The narrator of Cathedral , also known as the husband, is judgmental, jealous, and emotionally
disconnected from his wife. Throughout Cathedral , he displays feelings of disgust and confusion
toward his wife s relationships with men of her past. As he waits for his wife and the blind man to
come into the house he makes an observation: I saw her get out of the car and shut the door. She
was still wearing a smile. Just amazing (4). Although the character is seemingly confident in the
status of his relationship with his wife, his interjections of judgment throughout the text reveal
feelings of insecurity. Him finding it amazing that his wife would be smiling for a prolonged
amount of time suggests that her reaction is not typical or an emotional reaction that she gives him.
Throughout Cathedral the narrator assumes himself to be superior to the blind man, Robert,
making snippy comments about his disability and rationalizing that his blindness prevents Robert
from doing normal tasks to pleasing his wife. When his wife begins to

Aerospace Engineering Research Papers
Ever since I was younger, I have always had an interest in the insides of pens and
I would take pens apart just to put them back together. When I recently found out that putting pens
back together was not the normal idea of fun for children, I realized that I am supposed to be an
engineer. In addition to this, I also have a love for math and science. The specific type of
engineering that I am currently interested in is aerospace engineering, which is because I have an
interest in planes and rockets, and because airports happen to be my favorite places.
Aerospace engineering has two different sections, or parts in which the two parts are aeronautical
engineering and astronautical engineering. The difference between the two is that aeronautical ...

For a bachelor s degree, they will need to learn about propulsions, structures, and mechanics. This
is because it is important to know how to get the aircraft off of the ground. Aerospace engineers
also need to be able to work with computers and electronics, as these are constantly used and
involved.
Most Aerospace companies prefer an employee to have more than three years of experience in
the field before working full time. A bachelor s degree is the lowest amount of education, as
previously stated. This job even requires good communication skills and the ability to work in
groups. For most of these jobs an individual must be able to obtain a security clearance. They also
tend to accept degrees other than aerospace degrees, such as mechanical engineering and electrical
engineering degrees.
The national average salary for aerospace engineers is around $79k. The lowest salary for entry
level engineers is $54k. Experienced engineers can range from a salary of $77k to $140k. Late
career engineers can have salaries ranging from $90k to $172k. The annual mean wage for
aerospace engineering is the highest in Colorado, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The
employment is expected to decline two percent by 2024 because of the decrease in air

Japanese Economy During The World War
Introduction Since the Second World War, the Japanese economy had experienced remarkable
growth, transforming from a developing to an advanced developed economy in a single
generation. However, on the edge of a three decade long Economic Miracle, in the late 1980s,
Japan faced its regrettable bubble economy in which asset prices rapidly soared, money supply
and credit underwent sizable increase, and economic activity overheated for a prolonged period
(Okina p.396). At the bubble s peak in 1989, the Japanese stock market obtained a value of around
$4 trillion, reaching the benchmark Nikkei 225 stock average of ВҐ38,915 (four times the level
they had been in 1983) (Siebert p.9). This was approximately 44 percent of the world s equity
market capitalization (Stone p.149). At around similar time frame, Japan also saw a spectacular
surge in land prices with the land values five times that of the United States (Stone p.149). Hence,
during this time, the economy relished an investment and consumption boom to the extent that
Japan rapidly became known as the world s largest creditor country. However, such record
growth fell drastically with the burst of the bubble: the stock market plummeted by over 60
percent from its peak in 1989 to 1992 while speculative land prices fell over 50 percent and
essential land prices declined by about 15 to 20 percent (Okina p.397). Overall, the bursting of the
bubble resulted in a detrimental decline in asset prices, the accumulation of enormous

Battle Of Trenton Essay
The Battle of Trenton marked a decisive victory for the Colonial Army that helped to solidify the
American people in fighting for independence from Great Britain. General Washington was able to
leverage available human and counter intelligence to gain the upper hand and defeat the Hessian
force garrisoned in the town. Had Washington not acted on the intelligence available at the time, it
is possible that the Colonial cause would not have lasted though that winter. This paper will analyze
the two forces that took part in the battle and describe how each side used, or failed to use available
intelligence. Additionally, it will postulate alternate outcome should Washington not have acted on
the information available.

Reports indiacte that Rall s overconfidence in the Colonial s weak state led to tactical errors. Rall
ignored intelligence that the Colonials were planning an attack, he did not believe that the
Colonials had sufficient men to mount an attack on his location. Because of his over confidence,
Rall did not see it necessary to fortify his position.
The Plan of Attack Following a string of defeats against the British, Washington knew decisive
action must take place in order to maintain morale within his force. On 22 December, Washington
gathered with his war council to discuss their options to strike a victory against their opposing
force. They voted to conduct a surprise attack against the troops garrisoned in Trenton, New Jersey.
The plan called for three forces to conduct different missions to bring the desired result of Colonial
victory. The first unit, commanded by Washington, would cross the Delaware River, north of
Trenton, on Christmas night. Of the additional two forces, one would cross to block the Hessian
withdrawal while the other would conduct a diversion attack. The plan relied on surprise to be
effective against the Hessians garrisoned in Trenton to maximize available combat power. Lastly,
should the battle be successful, Washington planned additional follow on battles to monopolize his
success in Princeton and New

The Underground Economy in Afghanistan
The underground economy is a very complex structure, functioning outside the restrictions of legal
and tax systems (Tradelinks, 2013). It is also vastly known as the world s fastest growing
economy. Afghanistan is a country located in Southern Asia, East of Iran and North and West of
Pakistan. According to the official CIA website, the total population of this war torn country is
31,108,077 (2013). The country of Afghanistan is often in the eyes of the media, and has had some
very tough times because of its corrupt reputation. It is a country with many terrorist groups, such
as Al Qaeda and Taliban. This essay will explore the underground economy in Afghanistan,

Fundamentally speaking, the Taliban is an extremist group that twists the meaning of Islamic
teachings and oppresses anyone who may disagree. They have the power to overrule the
government, and recruit men everyday by offering $200 of earnings per month, a generous salary
compared to the $70 per month that a police officer earns in Afghanistan (IAR, 2012). Although the
US military troops have been in Afghanistan for over a decade now, the terrorist groups remain
irrepressible.
Thirdly, we will take a look at some of the many potential outcomes regarding what is happening
in Afghanistan. As we all know, the World changed after the events of 9 11. The main enemy in
the war that followed was the Al Qaeda. The UN has been working with Afghan authorities in
order to educate the civilians about voting, politics and elections. Further efforts include
supporting of respectable governance and the rule of law, training of police, etc. (Global Policy,
2013). However, as stated by the Global Policy website, in a land torn by violence, warlordism,
drug production and intense suspicion of foreigners, these programs seem unreal and very unlikely
to succeed (2013). Hence, one of the potential outcomes for Afghanistan could be the fact that
matters stay the same, and get worse day by day. Many sources agree that in order for Afghanistan
to have a bright future, Afghans need to start getting along with each

Personality Analysis of Charles Manson
PERSONALITY ANALYSIS OF CHARLES MANSON Introduction Manson is a convicted
serial killer who has become an icon of evil. In the late 1960s, Manson founded a hippie cult
group known as the Family whom he manipulated into brutally killing others on his behalf.
Helter Skelter, Manson believed, was going to occur in the summer of 1969 when blacks were
going to rise up and slaughter all the white people. He told his followers that they would be saved
because they would go underground, literally, by traveling to an underground city of gold located
in Death Valley. However, when the Armageddon that Manson had predicted did not occur, he said
he and his followers must show the blacks how to do it. The reason why I chose Manson for my...

He then received a 10 year suspended sentence for attempting to cash a stolen check. During this
time he married another girl before being arrested again in 1960 for crossing state lines for
prostitution. His sentence this time was for 7 years at McNeil Island Penitentiary in Washington
and then was transferred back to Terminal Island in California. During this time, his wife
divorced him after giving birth to his second son named Charles Luther Manson Jr. He spent his
prison time learning to play guitar and studied Scientology. After being released in 1967, he
traveled to San Francisco. There he met a woman named Mary Brunner and moved into her
apartment. She soon fell in love with Manson and he used that to manipulate her into sleeping
around with multiple women. She eventually lost her job at UC Berkeley, fell deep into drug use,
and began travelling with Manson. Mary Brunner became an important part in his development of
the Manson Family . Lynette Fromme was the first to join the family. The three lived together on
the streets of San Francisco while Manson mentored and prophesized his ideas to the girls. His
childhood manipulative tendencies helped fuel his status as a prophet. In 1968 after time spent
travelling, the group ended up living in Chatsworth, California on Spahn Ranch. Here Brunner gave
birth to his third son named Valentine Manson. Manson wanted a son to carry on his legacy and
planned to have many more. Manson was an

ADMAP REVIEW OF THE MOVIE INSIDE JOB Rohan Rambhia | PGP 10 155 Inside Job is an
exemplary recount of how administrator s role when exploited to form risky administrative
strategies by means of faulty processes lead to a crisis of the stature of the recession of 2008. It is a
comprehensive documentary which narrates the history of the collapse, not only going into great,
informative depth about the risk based strategies that put the global economy on the line, but looks
back to the rise of the financial industry. The biggest question which the documentary arouses is
that knowing what happened, why are the miscreants not being punished? As the director, Charles

How To Cope With Drugs In Sonny s Blues By James Baldwin
In Sonny s Blues by James Baldwin is the story about a musician who is struggling to cope with
his depression through his music and drugs. Baldwin writes this story about himself by bypassing
any direct notation of him. As he is trying to break the inequalities that the people during that time
are facing. Many people like Sonny are having a problem with drugs which ultimately gets him
arrested. Now he has to find his place in the world with the many things that he faces in his
everyday life. Baldwin illustrates how drugs, music, and the support of family helps Sonny with
the depression that he is feeling in his society. As a way for Sonny to cope with his depression
he turned to drugs. Baldwin writes, I d rather blow my brains out than go through this again
(296). Sonny was tired of having to go through the same thing every time. To the point where he
wants to the point he wants to die. Drugs can give a person a sense of lost time. That when they
take the drug it feels as though that the things or the worries in life are very small. For musicians

Essay on Mountaintop Mining and Environmental and Energy...
Mountaintop mining has been practiced in the United States since the 1960s, primarily in the
Appalachian Mountains. The process involves removing all tress from the site, then the topsoil, and
then using explosives to remove the remaining soil and rock to reveal coal. The coal is removed
and processed, and then the mountaintop is reclaimed with soil or an appropriate substitute, and
sometimes replanted.6 While mountaintop mining in the Appalachians is only a small percentage
of coalproduced by the United States, the issues surrounding it are complex and wide ranging.
Some of the many issues raised with mountaintop mining are: high unemployment (due to the
lessened man power needed to operate the mining machinery), deforestation,... Show more content

Directly in opposition to the EPA s regulation are the coal companies mining in the Appalachians.
Some of the biggest players in the industry are Alpha Natural Resources (formerly known as
Massey Energy), and Consol Energy. Some coal mining companies are more open to higher
environmental standards than others. In West Virginia the non profit Coal River Mountain Watch is
a community advocate group that work to expose the injustices and hazards of mountaintop

Green Party, whose main platform is to end mountaintop mining.12 A major regulatory player is the
West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, who issues many of the permits that allow
for mountaintop mining and waste removal practices. The people who live in the Appalachians are
a majorly invested group. They on one hand rely on mining companies for jobs and financial
assistance and support (many bring in medical professionals and other services to communities that

Gender Socialization And Gender Expectations In Children
Imagine a five year old girl, her birthday is a few weeks away and her mom is questioning her
about toys she would like to have. She tells her mom she wants a race track and the newest Hot
Wheels set. Her mother is quick discourage this request and suggests asking for something more
girly because race cars are for boys. The little girl is disappointed but abides by her mother s
request and instead asks for a new doll house. In our current culture, there is a huge difference
between what is considered to be for girls or boys. From birth, children are told what colors and
styles of clothing they wear, what toys they should play with, and emotions they should feel.
Often, girls are told they cannot play with toys considered to be for boys and boys are told they
are not allowed to play with toys considered to be for girls. Children who do decide they want to
play with the toys not traditionally for their gender are often scolded by family members, pushing
the children back to their gender specific toys. In early childhood the decisions that determine who
a child is to be are made by their parents or guardians. Gender socialization starts at birth and
continues from adolescence, to adulthood, causing specific and detrimental differences in the way
the genders behave. Before one can dissect gender socialization and gender roleexpectations in
children, they must understand what they are. According to the United Nations International
Children s Emergency Fund (UNICEF),

Reconstruction Goals For African Americans
The Reconstruction era was a hard time for African Americans. Dealing with harassment and rude
comments from other people, and hoping that they will get the right to vote. During this time some
laws were passed, a few of them were the 1st amendment, voting rights, and equal rights. These
goals were partially achieved and were not one hundred percent successful.
The goals that were partially achieved were voting and most 1st amendment right. After Abraham
Lincoln was assassinated and the troops were pulled out, reconstruction ended. Now all the federal
government could do was pass amendments and make the people in the South follow them. The
13th amendment helped with the rights, as did the 14th amendment. When those amendments were
passed African Americans were protected the same as whites. The South on the other hand did not
entirely agree and chose not to listen and follow the new rules. African Americans could vote, but
with a huge list of restrictions, the Grandfather Clause was one of them. The Grandfather Clause
was if you re grandfather was able to vote so could you, but since most African American
grandfathers were slaves at that time, most could not vote. Another restriction which was a
literary test you had to take if you were colored . This test showed if you could read or write, and
most slaves could not so they could not vote. The goal, not even close to being ... Show more

  • 2. Inaccuracies In Malcolm X Malcolm X s significance is still existent till this day. He might have not been able to fully address his final ideology to the world, but he was able to show people the real meaning of being a human. He was capable of convincing people of his beliefs regardless of their accuracy using his great charisma and leadership skills. Adding to that, when he found out that most of his beliefs were imprecise he did not hesitate to let his followers know about it, ignoring the danger he was getting into by confessing. Malcolm Xset a very good life example of the human mind and soul development through the course of his life. The film displayed a very accurate portrayal, yet there was some minor inaccuracies that were not very debatable. The film s basic plot was about a black child, Malcolm X, who was taken away from his mother after the murder of his father to move in with a foster family. He grew up in the white society where he was treated differently and as an outlier. As a junior high student Malcolm was advised by his teacher to consider future jobs that were realistic for black people when he told him about his passion for law. This caused him to feel disheartened and drop out of school a few years later.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, there were some insignificant inaccuracies in the film. For instance, when Malcolm was first captured by the policemen, he was not at his house trying to wash his hair as seen in the movie, but was actually detained while picking up one of his stolen watches from a repair shop. Besides, Malcolm did not convert to Islam because of John Bembry only, but because of his brother (Wikipedia, 2015). Likewise, he was not made aware of Elijah Mohamed s deeds by his wife initially but by Elijah Mohamed s son (YouTube, 2015). These were the most apparent imprecisions, however they are not so important for they did not fictionalize the real life of Malcolm in anyway (Biography.com, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay about The Media’s Effect on Adolescent Bodies The Media s Effect on Adolescent Bodies The stringent standard Barbie doll proportions of body image and what is considered beautiful in today s media has resulted in devastating effects on adolescent women. The images displayed of women who have long beautiful legs, thin waist lines and smooth flawless skin are very hard to ignore. Throughout history the female body has been on display as a selling tool to coerce people into buying that new fancy car or the latest new appliance that can make their everyday lives easier. Commercials of the extremely thin Kelly Ripa can act as a mantra of what a modern day picture perfect house wife should look like standing beside her magical ovens and washing machines. In her book The Beauty Myth, Naomi Wolf criticizes the media and its negative effects on women by stating that every woman should be allowed the choice to do whatever we want with our faces and bodies without being punished by an ideology that is using attitudes, economic pressure, and even legal judgments regarding women s appearance to undermine us psychologically and politically (10). Some of the most common negative effects that young girls are experiencing are physical, emotional, and social. The physical effect s that the media has on a young girl s overall beauty and body image are staggering. Many young girls put their bodies through painful physical transformations. They want to look just like their favorite celebrities or to fit into the latest fashion trends and appeal to the media s idea of what the opposite sex wants them to look like. Willis s The Culture of Beauty, argues this point by saying The Media distract women from focusing on what bodies do... dressing up, dressing down or sculpting our bodies in pursuit of a profile the we d be happy to avoid dressing altogether. They print lessons available to male readers regarding what s desirable and ideal when it comes to the sizes and shapes of women s body parts (106 107). • 5. Heteronormativity Essay Heteronormativity has not accepted the fact that there is no need to be a heterosexual couple to engage in sexual or romantic activities or that there is no need to be born with the right genre. This negation has had a negative impact in lives of people who identify themselves in a distinct manner from the ones that are considered normal . One of the most important consequences that this assumption can be found in mental health. An example of this was shown by Todd (as cited by Wilchins, 1997) trans identity is not a natural fact. Rather, it is the political category we are forced to occupy when we do certain things with our bodies. That so many of us try to take our own lives, mutilate ourselves, or just succeed in dying quietly of shame, depression, or loneliness is not an accident. We are supposed to feel isolated and desperate. Outcast. That is the whole point of the system. Our feelings are not causes but effects. (p33)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there are some people who defend the idea that mental illnesses or problems related to the mind are not merely delineated by how society treats you, but it is a correlation between phenotypical and genotypical features potentiated by the context a person is born and the life history of the last one.Even though this argument could be supported by scientific evidence, this does not rest importance to the fact that heteronomativity has a huge influence on how a person perceives himself and faces the world because of how this belief is tightly woven in society. To conclude, one of the ways in which this standard affects people is by rejecting them causing further problems because this makes people feel as outcasts and has an impact in their psychological ... • 6. Parable Of The Wedding Banquet Essay The Parable of the Wedding Banquet Short Analysis Throughout his ministry on earth, Jesus taught a number of his lessons through parables, or short and simple stories used to explain a certain moral or spiritual lesson. Many of these parables were relatable to the Jewish people of Jesus time, and were taught in a way that the common people could understand them. Some allude to the nature of the Kingdom of God, while others teach people to treat others. The Parable of the Wedding Banquet, as seen above, tells the story of a king who is holds a wedding feast for his son and the interesting event that unfold throughout it. The marriage as a whole represents the Kingdom of God. According to author Matthew Henry, The King is God, a great King, King of kings. (Henry p.1725). The marriage is for His Son, Jesus, with the church as His bride (p.1725). The servants represent the early prophets and apostles, sent to bring the invitation to the Kingdom to the Jews (Darby, Henry, Johnson). The king, God, extends the first invitation to attend the Kingdom out to the Jews. The people invited refuse to come, some even mistreating and killing the messengers. When the parable refers to the destruction of the Jews when the king sends out his army to burn their city. The city, according to Henry, refers to the destruction of Jerusalem, which is burned about forty years later (Henry p.1726). Then, the invitation is extended to everyone, included the Gentiles (Darby, Henry, Johnson). Everyone is now invited to enter the Kingdom of Heaven no matter their social status. Though everyone is invited, Jesus warns against hypocrites. The garments that the guests wore represent the righteousness of Christ (Wesley, Johnson). Those not clothed in this righteousness are those in the church who are false friends to Jesus Christ, who say that they love him while in their hearts are not with him. (Henry p.1727). • 7. Essay about Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights 1) The story takes place in the early XIXth century. There are two characters in this extract : Mr Lockwood and Catherine Linton. Mr Lockwood is the first narrator of this novel, he was one of Mr Heathcliff s tenants. At the beginning of the story , there were three characters : Heathcliff, a foundling, his sister Catherine and his brother Hindley. Catherine fell in love with Heathcliff, but was married with Edgar Linton. So, the second character we meet here is Catherine Linton, Edgar Linton s daughter. This extract belongs to the end of the novel. Catherine comes back to the farm Wuthering Heights, she tries to get in the house trough the window. Mr Lockwood, which had read Catherine s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So Mr Lockwood does not see her, and when she says that she is Catherine Linton, he does not believe her because he had never seen her. We see that Mr Lockwood is shocked ; the situation is ambiguous for him because he meets in a very unusual way the person who had written the diary he had just read. But for the reader, the situation is not ambiguous because we know who is Catherine Linton. We know that the scene is a combination of cicumstances ; Catherine wanted to come back to Wuthering Heights, she just wanted to get in the house. The combination of circumstances makes that Mr Lockwood, trying to catch the branch, had been surprised by Catherine. But she has no intention of surprising Mr Lockwood. So, we could say that the gloomy atmosphere leads Mr Lockwood to confused feelings, between sanity and madness. The text could be set between sanity and madness for different reasons with regard to the two charcters present in this scene : Mr Lockwood and Catherine Linton. Both charcters can be indeed considered as mad but in the same time, they show sanity in their actions and reactions. Catherine Linton came back to Wuthering Heights because she wanted to find her origins in this place where her mother lived and above all because she had an affair with the owner of the farm : Heathcliff. But she had never lived in this farm, so she didn t know how to get in and maybe noone could let get in. It is obvious tah the only way she had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It then provides an analysis of how the functions of management the operations management. THE FOUR FUNCTIONS OF MANAGEMENT Planning: It is an act of formulating a program for a definitive course of action. The management defines a goal and puts forward its strategies to accomplish the objectives defined. Organizing: To divide the work force into specific groups and giving each group a specific task. Thorn p.4] IMPACT OF MANAGEMENT FUNCTION ON OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT This section analyses the impact that the previously discussed functions of management has on the operations management. Planning is the most important pillar of operations management. When an organization plans its goals and sets down its strategies, it then becomes easier for the managerial level to decide and distribute the work load. Without any plan of action, the organization or company would not know what it is working towards. For a manufacturing company, planning would include product design. For work to be conducted on the principles of operations management, organizing plays an important role. Workload needs to be divided in such an efficient manner that the skills of an employee or a group of employees are used to the fullest. Overloading any employee would result in deficient outputs and derogatory work which would naturally be time consuming. As the goal of organizing is to produce better results, similarly leading or motivating is necessary for an organization to extract maximum performance out of the workers. With appealing incentives, workers would work honestly and put in their best. This in turn would save the company time and there would be a complete control of the managerial department over things like production control and quality control. When an employee is ... The doctor is a reliable narrator and an observer. I feel that his personality is brought out in the doctor. So the doctors thoughts and behaviors are a reflection of the authors. As for the setting it takes place at a family s home. I think it takes place somewhere in the early 1900 s. I think it would make a difference to the story if it were set somewhere else, only because if the sick girlwas brought to like a hospital for example, maybe she would have been diagnosed and helped sooner without all the hassle that occurred at the house. Something that really puzzled me in the story was when the first old lady ran after Marian in the hall and sort of grabbed her by her hair and asked her for a penny. I didn t understand that point and I don t think it made much sense to the story. The conflict in the story is when Marian actually goes into the old women s room. The conflict isn t very clear, but its very obvious there is a problem. The first old women is very outgoing, and the second old women, is angry, and bitter. So there s a bit of clashing going on with them and it shows when they spoke to each other. The events that led up to the plot are Marian going into the Old women s home, being in the room and communicating with them til finally she gets so scared she runs out. The theme of this story is also irony. Everything in the story conveyed the theme irony, only because everything seemed like the opposite of what it should have been. For instance when Marian goes to the old women s home for charity. The purpose of charity is to help people who cant help themselves, or to do something nice for someone. In the story, Marian isn t doing it to be helpful, she is only visiting the old women for extra points for her campfire girls. Another example of the irony was the old women constantly disagreed or contradicted each other. • 11. Osteoporosis Is The Most Common Chronic Osteoporosis is translated from the Greek and literally means porous bone .It is the most common chronic, metabolic bone disease in the U.S.A, resulting in osteopenia and fractures in spine , hip and wrist. In addition osteoporosis is progressive, and the skeletal fragility often leads to disabling fractures (hip fractures) and even death. Primary osteoporosisis a result of aging, whereas secondary osteoporosis occurs at any age, is a consequence to certain medication as well as diseases. Throughout life the skeletal system is constantly changing. Bone modeling, formation and growth of bones, occurs from birth to early adulthood resulting in increase in skeletal mass and changes in skeletal form. Naturally the peak bone mass is achieved in the third decade of life, meaning the bones are at their strongest state in human development. Bone remodeling, a response to micro trauma and stress on the bone, is a dynamic process that also occurs through life. Bone is composed of collagen type 1, a protein, minerals such as calcium and phosphate and bone forming cells (osteoblasts and osteocytes) as wells as bone resorbing cells known as osteoclasts. Calcium is a main contributor of bone strength. In fact 99% of calcium is stored in bones and teeth with one percent remaining in the blood. • 12. Theme Of Wealth In Great Expectations In Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens, wealth is a common theme that has varying effects on different characters and their attitudes. Pip and Drummle are both people whose experiences with money shape who they are, and how they act. Throughout the first part of the novel, Dickens writing shows that money does not always equal happiness. Pip has had no experiences with the upper class by the beginning of Great Expectations, and as a result, he is satisfied with his conventional life. But, this all changes when he starts going to the Satis house and socializing with Ms. Havisham and her daughter, Estella. After seeing what Pip feels his life should be, he becomes dissatisfied with his social class, even stating I wished Joe had been rather more genteelly brought up, and then I should have been so too. , Implying that he is also unhappy with the upbringing of his family members. His preoccupation with wealth and status causes him to grow distant from his family and friends, a decision that he later regrets. Pip reflects, It is a most miserable thing to feel ashamed of home. Kurt Lewin developed a model of the change process that has stood the test of time and continues to influence the way organizations manage planned change. Lewin s change model is a three step process. The process begins with unfreezing, which is a critical first obstacle in the change process. Unfreezing involves encouraging individuals to shed old behaviors by changing the status quo. The second step in the change process is moving. In the moving stage, new attitudes, values, and behaviors are substituted for old ones. Organizations accomplish moving by initiating new options and explaining the rationale for the change, as well as by providing training to help employees develop the new skills they need. The last step in the change process is Refreezing. In this step, new attitudes, values, and behaviors are established as the new normal. The new ways of operating are concrete and reinforced. • 17. Imbalance In Lord Of The Flies Analysis Imbalance is at the center of mayhem As the French philosopher Baron de Montesquieu believed, a system of checks and balances of power are necessary to have a society. William Golding had written the Lord of the Flies, a book about a group of young boys stranded on a island needing to find ways of survival. His book portrays how Montesquieu s idea of checks and balances are needed to make an ideal community. On the island, Jack and Ralph were the two boys that seemed most fit to be leaders among these stranded boys and at first the island was a safe place for living, until Jack gains more and more control where the levels of authority are not equal. With Jack having most of the control, there is an absence of balance and this absence of balance between powers on the island causes the boys turn to savagery and chaos. Golding writes of the boys failing to have a mindset of surviving together by living their life on the island with an imbalance of power to govern themselves and by having this imbalance, the boys kill each other and destroy the island to rise in dominance, which is what Montesquieu predicted would happen if there was no checks of power and balance between sides. In the Lord of the Flies, Golding shows how the boys on the island fail to govern themselves since Jack s authority grows too fast and Ralph can t limit him. Golding s book agrees with how Montesquieu believed having three branches of leadership ideally keeps the governmental system balanced. There are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If an actor finds herself getting extremely nervous or if the attempt at raising her self confidence does not work, she can try to calm herself down by thinking of things that make her happy and excited. These thoughts take the mind away from what is going on and soothe the actor into a more calm state suitable for performance. Sarah closed her eyes and tried thinking of different things that could possibly calm her down. She thought of her dog back at home and how he would run after the tennis ball she threw; she thought of her friends and all the fun they had when they went dancing. Sarah grew a big smile on her face until she suddenly heard someone from the stage calling Juliet! She opened her eyes and jumped up. It was only her name being stated, not her cue. She was relieved. • 20. The Sonnets Of Shakespeare Often Explore The Deeper Musings The sonnets of Shakespeare often explore the deeper musings of the male narrator as he catalogues his continuous waxing on intrapersonal and interpersonal matters. Sonnet 80 does this beautifully as it discusses the narrator s deepest fear that, my [the narrator s] love was my dismay. The profoundly beautiful couplet perfectly accompanies the prior three quatrains, and a sailing metaphor is used throughout. The narrator, whom is addressing the young man, brings up his biggest quandary (the other spirit ) as he attempts to express himself to the young man. The entire sonnetis supported by the idea of sailing and boats, and, yet, the narrator and reader both know that he (the narrator) will inevitably encounter a shipwreck. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, the next quatrain is the narrator s attempts to justify why he still continues to write of the young man. The second quatrain serves as a justification not only for the narrator, but also for readers of the sonnet. The narrator insists that the young man s worth is as wide as the ocean is and, that, his (the young man s) humility is the proudest sail [he] doth bear . Although there is a juxtaposition between pride and humility, the narrator s idea of the young man is justification enough for his continued musings on the other man. The narrator affirms that he is content with continuing to write and praise the young man despite his boat being far inferior to his (the other suitor) . Because the narrator s saucy bark does willfully appear on the young man s broad main , it further implicates that while the narrator knows there is a better spirit he also will continue writing about the young man. Finally, as if rebutting an argument about why the narrator still cares for the young man, the third quatrain explains how the narrator can keep writing of the young man. The narrator, who is conscious of the other suitor, reasons that unlike the better spirit he merely needs the young man s shallowest help to keep him afloat; he does not need the continuous soundless deep that the other man needs. Additionally, the narrator also uses depth to emphasize how he and the other poet can coexist in the young man s love; for as small boats use the shallows and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is said that he was a relative of Jesus but the situation presents Mary weeping alone with worry. It is important to note that The New Revised Standard Version and the New King James Version record verse 11 beginning it with But. And, my question to that but is: but, why a But? So, my dear First United Methodist Church of Mendota, one of the purposes of the author of this gospel was to help the readers increase their faith in Jesus as the Son of God. Complication: 0.5 As soon as Mary finishes her statement, she turns around and sees a man dressed in white. It is Jesus but she is unable to recognize him. It is very likely that at this moment she is exasperated, feeling more broken than before, because her only hope of feeling connected to Jesus was his dead body that was missing, and now how could she feel at peace? It may be that she is confused and thinking in her mind: who stole the dead body, where was it and in what condition? How could she obtain it? Would she also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, his father did not want to serve in the war because it meant he would have to shoot his wife s two brothers who were Confederate generals. Therefore, he did what many wealthy men did during that time, and paid two men to take his place. Even though Theodore Roosevelt looked up to his father, this impacted him in a very negative way. Some historians even analyzed that his father buying men to take his place is what influenced him to becoming a soldier and gave him the determination to prove that he was a good one. • 34. Compare And Contrast Mary Magdalene And St. Peter Of Verona Mary Magdalene and St. Peter of Verona (or St. Peter Martyr) are two wooden, Italian works of art on display in the Greendale Special Collections and Archives in the Olin Library. The depiction of Mary Magdalene predates St. Peter of Verona by about a century, made in the early 16th century, with St. Peter of Verona coming into fruition in the 17th century. The two works are similar in subject, that of the Catholic saint. Despite their similar functions and purposes, they are products of their own time, revealed by the distinction of style between the two. The older figure, Mary Magdalene, is in the form of a wooden relief. The relief is a low relief, with almost a two dimensional feel. The size of the relief is not very big, indicating that this work may be one of others in a series. Considering all of this, the work most likely functioned as an altarpiece or as a door panel for a chapel. Although not too many traces of paint are left, the figure is in relatively good condition. In this work, Mary Magdalene is depicted kneeling in prayer in the bottom center of the work. She is looking up to the left corner, in which a cross stands. Mary is shown to be outside, indicated by the hill the cross sits on top. To the right of Mary is an arch framing over her head. To the bottom left of her is a container which most likely held either wine or spices. The relief as a whole utilizes much of the wood, with there being hardly any negative space. • 40. The Theme Of Blindness In Cathedral By Raymond Carver s... In the short story Cathedral, author Raymond Carver uses the narrator of the story as a model for his purpose: blindness is subjective. Throughout the text, we are taken on a journey of self discovery as the narrator changes from being judgemental and shallow to having an epiphany and realizing that an individual s worth goes beyond their outward appearance; that the greatest and most deep connections are achieved by looking at one s heart. The narrator of Cathedral , also known as the husband, is judgmental, jealous, and emotionally disconnected from his wife. Throughout Cathedral , he displays feelings of disgust and confusion toward his wife s relationships with men of her past. As he waits for his wife and the blind man to come into the house he makes an observation: I saw her get out of the car and shut the door. She was still wearing a smile. Just amazing (4). Although the character is seemingly confident in the status of his relationship with his wife, his interjections of judgment throughout the text reveal feelings of insecurity. Him finding it amazing that his wife would be smiling for a prolonged amount of time suggests that her reaction is not typical or an emotional reaction that she gives him. Throughout Cathedral the narrator assumes himself to be superior to the blind man, Robert, making snippy comments about his disability and rationalizing that his blindness prevents Robert from doing normal tasks to pleasing his wife. Japanese Economy During The World War Introduction Since the Second World War, the Japanese economy had experienced remarkable growth, transforming from a developing to an advanced developed economy in a single generation. However, on the edge of a three decade long Economic Miracle, in the late 1980s, Japan faced its regrettable bubble economy in which asset prices rapidly soared, money supply and credit underwent sizable increase, and economic activity overheated for a prolonged period (Okina p.396). At the bubble s peak in 1989, the Japanese stock market obtained a value of around $4 trillion, reaching the benchmark Nikkei 225 stock average of ВҐ38,915 (four times the level they had been in 1983) (Siebert p.9). Hence, during this time, the economy relished an investment and consumption boom to the extent that Japan rapidly became known as the world s largest creditor country. However, such record growth fell drastically with the burst of the bubble: the stock market plummeted by over 60 percent from its peak in 1989 to 1992 while speculative land prices fell over 50 percent and essential land prices declined by about 15 to 20 percent (Okina p.397).
