Diabetic retinopathy is the cause for
blindness in the human society. Early detection of it prevents
blindness. Image processing techniques can reduce the work of
ophthalmologists and the tools used to detect Diabetic
Retinopathy Patients. Proliferative diabetic retinopathy is the
most advanced stage of diabetic retinopathy, and is classified by
the growth of new blood vessels. These blood vessels are
abnormal and fragile, and are susceptible to leaking blood and
fluid onto the retina, which can cause severe vision loss. First,
vessel-like patterns are segmented by using Ridge Strength
Measurement and Watershed lines. The second step is measuring
the vessel pattern obtained [5][10]. Many features that are
extracted from the blood vessels such as shape, position,
orientation, brightness, contrast and line density have been used
to quantitative patterns in retinal vasculature. Based on the seven
features extracted, the segment is classified as normal or
abnormal by using Support Vector Machine Classifier [6][8]. The
obtained accuracy may be sufficient to reduce the workload of an
ophthalmologist and to prioritize the patient grading queues.

Automatic Detection of Diabetic Maculopathy from Funduas Images Using Image A...Eman Al-dhaher
Diabetic retinopathy is a severe eye disease that affects many diabetic patients. It changes the small blood vessels in the retina resulting in loss of vision. Early detection and diagnosis have been identified as one of the ways to achieve a reduction in the percentage of visual impairment and blindness caused by diabetic retinopathy with emphasis on regular screening for detection and monitoring of this disease.
The work focuses on developing a fundus image analysis system that extracts the fundal features of the retina such as optic disk, macula (i.e., fovea) and exudates lesions (hard and soft exudates), which are the fundamental steps in an automated analyzing system to display and diagnosis diabetic retinopathy.
Review of methods for diabetic retinopathy detection and severity classificationeSAT Journals
Abstract Diabetic Retinopathy is a serious vascular disorder that might lead to complete blindness. Therefore, the early detection and the treatment are necessary to prevent major vision loss. Though the Manual screening methods are available, they are time consuming and inefficient on a large image database of patients. Moreover, it demands skilled professionals for the diagnosis. Automatic Diabetic Retinopathy diagnosis systems can replace manual methods as they can significantly reduce the manual labor involved in the screening process. Screening conducted over a larger population can become efficient if the system can separate normal and abnormal cases, instead of the manual examination of all images. Therefore, Automatic Retinopathy detection systems have attracted large popularity in the recent times. Automatic retinopathy detection systems employ image processing and computer vision techniques to detect different anomalies associated with retinopathy. This paper reviews various methods of diabetic retinopathy detection and classification into different stages based on severity levels and also, various image databases used for the research purpose are discussed. Abstract Headlights of vehicles pose a great danger during night driving. The drivers of most vehicles use high, bright beam while driving at night. This causes a discomfort to the person travelling from the opposite direction. He experiences a sudden glare for a short period of time. This is caused due to the high intense headlight beam from the other vehicle coming towards him from the opposite direction. We are expected to dim the headlight to avoid this glare. This glare causes a temporary blindness to a person resulting in road accidents during the night. To avoid such incidents, we have fabricated a prototype of automatic headlight dimmer. This automatically switches the high beam into low beam thus reducing the glare effect by sensing the approaching vehicle. It also eliminates the requirement of manual switching by the driver which is not done at all times. The construction, working and the advantages of this prototype model is discussed in detail in this paper. Keywords: Headlight, automatic, dimmer, control, high beam, low beam, Kelvin (K).

AUTOMATED DETECTION OF HARD EXUDATES IN FUNDUS IMAGES USING IMPROVED OTSU THR...IJCSES Journal
One common cause of visual impairment among people of working age in the industrialized countries is
Diabetic Retinopathy (DR). Automatic recognition of hard exudates (EXs) which is one of DR lesions in
fundus images can contribute to the diagnosis and screening of DR.The aim of this paper was to
automatically detect those lesions from fundus images. At first, green channel of each original fundus image
was segmented by improved Otsu thresholding based on minimum inner-cluster variance, and candidate
regions of EXs were obtained. Then, we extracted features of candidate regions and selected a subset which
best discriminates EXs from the retinal background by means of logistic regression (LR). The selected
features were subsequently used as inputs to a SVM to get a final segmentation result of EXs in the image.
Our database was composed of 120 images with variable color, brightness, and quality. 70 of them were
used to train the SVM and the remaining 50 to assess the performance of the method. Using a lesion based
criterion, we achieved a mean sensitivity of 95.05% and a mean positive predictive value of 95.37%. With
an image-based criterion, our approach reached a 100% mean sensitivity, 90.9% mean specificity and
96.0% mean accuracy. Furthermore, the average time cost in processing an image is 8.31 seconds. These
results suggest that the proposed method could be a diagnostic aid for ophthalmologists in the screening
for DR.

Diabetic Retinopathy Detection using Neural Networkingijtsrd
The clinical and laboratory studies states that diabetic retinopathy is the major cause of permanent blindness among the aged personalities. The problem with this disease is that there is no cure for it and the only thing we can do is to detect the disease as soon as possible in order to prevent further loss of vision. In this system we propose a CNN approach for diagnosing DR from retinal images and classifying the stages of the disease .The classification is done based on the haemorrhages, micro aneurysms present in the retinal image. We train this network using a high end graphics processor unit GPU using kaggle data set and the disease classification is done, hence we can identify the the disease and prevent the further loss of vision. Glaucoma is a chronic eye disease in which the optic nerve head is progressively damaged which leads to loss of
vision. Early diagnosis and treatment is the key to preserving sight in people with glaucoma. Current tests using
intraocular pressure (IOP) are not sensitive enough for population based glaucoma screening. Assessment of the
damaged optic nerve head is both more promising, and superior to IOP measurement or visual field testing. This paper
presents superpixel classification based optic disc and optic cup segmentation for glaucoma screening. In optic disc
segmentation, histograms and centre surround statistics are used to classify each superpixel as disc or non-disc. For optic
cup segmentation, in addition to the histograms and centre surround statistics, the location information is also included

EXUDATES DETECTION FROM DIGITAL FUNDUS IMAGE OF DIABETIC RETINOPATHYijabjournal
The aim of this paper is to detect exudates from the digital fundus images and provide information about Non Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy is very complicated disease that occurs when the retinal blood vessels changes. Exudates are the first sign of the diabetic retinopathy which cause blindness. So it is very important to find out these exudates in fundus image. In this paper we have proposed a method which is used for segmentation of optic disc and exudates. Morphological operations are used for detection of exudates. Before this operation we are applying Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization technique. The results are compared with the standard database.

Diabetic retinopathy is a disease, caused by alternation in the retinal blood vessels. It is a strong sign of early blindness and if it is not treated may tend to complete blindness and the vision lost once cannot be restored once again. In this paper different image processing techniques are used to differentiate between the normal and the diseased image. The attempt is made to see where the problem actually lies so that proper diagnosis of patient can be done. Pre processing of an image, optic disk detection, Blood vessels extraction, Exudates detection are some of the methods that are applied here. Other algorithms are designed to obtain the desired result. A large number of populations are affected by this disease around the world.

separately with different concentrations (0.0 as control, 0.1, 0.5,
1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 mg/l). Concentration of kinetin (0.5 mg/l)
was used in combination with all concentrations of 2, 4-D and
NAA hormones. The callus was successfully induced in all
different concentrations of two mentioned auxins and
combinations of different concentrations of two auxins separately
with (0.5 mg/l) of kinetin. No callus formation was observed in
the absence of plant growth regulators. Hypocotyl explants of
T.foenum- graecum were much better in inducing callus than
cotyledons explants. Combinations of NAA+Kin and 2,4-D+Kin
were found to be more effective for inducing callus from
hypocotyls explants compared to 2,4-D and NAA alone, at the
same time callus induced by 2,4-D using cotyledons explants
gave the best results compared to the other hormone. Among the
different concentrations of auxin and combinations with kinetin
,the highest mean of callusing index from hypocotyls segments
was (3.50±0.15) with 100% 0f callusing in sixth week by 4.0 mg/l
NAA+ 0.5mg/l Kin. In the case of callus induction from
cotyledons segments the highest mean of callusing index
(2.41±0.18) with 100% of callusing in sixth week was observed by
1.0 mg/l 2, 4-D

MS medium supplemented with different
concentrations of auxins 2,4-dichloro-phenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D),
α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and combination with kinetin
were studied to obtain a suitable protocol of callus initiation of
Trigonella foenum graecum. Callus was induced from hypocotyls
and cotyledons explants which were collected from the seedlings
of the mentioned plant. The explants were cultured in MS
medium supplemented with two auxins 2,4-D and NAA
separately with different concentrations (0.0 as control, 0.1, 0.5,
1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 mg/l). Concentration of kinetin (0.5 mg/l)
was used in combination with all concentrations of 2, 4-D and
NAA hormones. The callus was successfully induced in all
different concentrations of two mentioned auxins and
combinations of different concentrations of two auxins separately
with (0.5 mg/l) of kinetin. No callus formation was observed in
the absence of plant growth regulators. Hypocotyl explants of
T.foenum- graecum were much better in inducing callus than
cotyledons explants. Combinations of NAA+Kin and 2,4-D+Kin
were found to be more effective for inducing callus from
hypocotyls explants compared to 2,4-D and NAA alone, at the
same time callus induced by 2,4-D using cotyledons explants
gave the best results compared to the other hormone. Among the
different concentrations of auxin and combinations with kinetin
,the highest mean of callusing index from hypocotyls segments
was (3.50±0.15) with 100% 0f callusing in sixth week by 4.0 mg/l
NAA+ 0.5mg/l Kin. In the case of callus induction from
cotyledons segments the highest mean of callusing index
(2.41±0.18) with 100% of callusing in sixth week was observed by
1.0 mg/l 2, 4-D
The heat transfer and friction factor were
experimentally investigated in a louvered strip inserted tube in
turbulent flow region. A copper tube of (I.D=28mm, O.D=32mm)
and 900mm length was used. A louvered strip insert with
different geometrical configuration was inserted into the smooth
tube. A uniform heat flux condition was created by wrapping
heating tape of 2500 watt around the test section. Fibre glass
cloth was used as a thermal insulator which surrounds the
heating tape. Outer surface temperature of the tube were
measured at five different equally spaced points of test section by
k-typethermocouples. Two thermocouples were used to measure
the inlet and outlet temperature of water. The Reynolds numbers
were varied in the range of 2500 to 4000 with constant heat flux
of 24 kw/m2 for smooth tube and louvered strip inserted. Nusselt
number and friction factor obtained for louvered strip (with
forward backward arrangement) > Nusselt number and friction
factor for louvered strip (with semi-forward semi-backward
arrangement)> Nusselt number and friction factor for louvered
strip (with forward arrengement).

The basic reason behind the need to
monitor water quality is to verify whether the examined
water quality is suitable for intended usage or not. This
study is conducted on Al -Shamiya al- sharqi drain in
Diwaniya city in Iraq to make valid assessment for the
level of parameters measured and to realize their effects
on irrigation. In order to assess the drainage water
quality for irrigation purposes with a high accuracy, the
Irrigation Water Quality Index (IWQI) will be examined
and upgraded (integrated with GIS) to make a
classification for drainage water. For this purpose, ten
samples of drainage water were taken from different ten
location of the stuay area. The collected samples were
analyzed chemically for different elements which affect
water quality for irrigation. These elements are :
Calcium(Ca+2), Sodium(Na+
), Magnesium(Mg+2),
Chloride( ), Potassium(K+
), Bicarbonate(HCO3),
Nitrate(NO3), Sulfate( , Phosphate( , Electrical
Conductivity(EC), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Total
Suspended Solids (TSS) and pH-values (PH). Sodium
Adsorption Ratio (SAR) and Sodium Content (Na%)
have been also calculated. Results suggest that, the use of
GIS and Water Quality Index (WQI) methods could
provide an extremely interesting as well as efficient tool
to water resource management. The results analysis of
(IWQI) maps confirms that: 52% of the drainage water
in study area falls within the "Low restriction" (LR) and
47%of study area has water with (Moderate
restriction)(MR),While 1% of drainage water in the
study area classified as (Sever restriction) (SR). So, the
drainage water should be used with the soil having high
permeability with some constraints imposed on types of
plant for specified tolerance of salts
Dust emission has become a major cause of
environmental pollution which has many adverse effects on living
beings and non-living things. Construction industry revolution
and development of Southern Pune has led to an increase in the
demand of building materials manifold. The process of quarrying
for extraction of building materials is responsible for heavy air
pollution. Blasting, handling and transportation of aggregates
emits large quantity of dust particles within Katraj region. Dry
weather condition and high speed wind spreads the dust which
increases the environmental risk. The objective to study the
analysis of impact of dust pollution on environment within the
Katraj region is to assess the potential risks in quantitative and
qualitative manner. The core knowledge of dust concentration,
behavior and complex properties of particulate matter helps to
formulate the methods and policies to exert control on their
emission and distribution.
The natural as well as artificial lakes, the source of ground
water in Southern region of Katraj, are subjected to the
deposition of heavy suspended particulate matter. Through
experimentation, it has been observed that the deposition of such
dust matter in the local atmosphere has led to significant changes
in the physical, chemical and biological parameters relating to
natural resources as it reflects in the alarming deviation of these
parameters from standard values. The present study will create
awareness and save the environment of Katraj from impending
consequences of dust particle emission
This study assesses sound performance at
building front façades as well as types of design configuration
of the self-protected building envelops which are often exposed
to a linear finite-length sound source (e.g. traffic noise).
Impacts of noise attenuation at the surface level of the building
façade are also dealt with. The study includes an evaluation of
the architectural elements shaping the configuration of the
façade as a means of self-protection for noise attenuation
against traffic noise whereby the architects and engineers have
neither the choice of averting such disturbing sources nor using
natural buffers or man-made barriers to shelter buildings
aligned at main streets. A theoretical background is rendered
so as to clarify the concept of self-protected building envelops
and their role in the traffic noise attenuation. Computer
simulation of mathematical models are also applied to test the
effect of the facade design, articulation and configuration of
envelop on noise attenuation. However, design alternatives of
simulated different front façades facing traffic noise are
analyzed as case studies. This study concludes with some useful
findings depicting the relationship between envelop
configuration and noise attenuation in order to make the
building more self-protected. A few general considerations are
added at the end of the paper.

This research aimed at studying the main factors
affecting the sustainability of Donor funded projects, in Darfur,
with particular emphasis on the Area Development Scheme
(ADS) in Umm Kaddada Locality/ North Darfur State, as case
study. Different Methods were used to collect the related data.
These include the Participatory Rapid Appraisal (PRA),
observations and interviews with officials in the Central
Beneficiaries Organizations using stratified random sample of
seven village sanduq societies out of 51 societies. Descriptive and
analytical methods were used to analyze the data collected. The
results achieved revealed that despite the withdrawal of the
foreign assistance, the project existed and performed some
activities. Such results are attributed to the approach adopted by
the project which promotes the direct involvement of
beneficiaries in all project phases. Such results are also attributed
to the formation of the mechanism of project sustainability from
the previous government counterparts before the cession of the
foreign support, with continuous financial support from the State
Ministry of Finance. The results achieved also revealed that there
was a lack of progress in the implementation of some activities,
such as that of the central and grass-root beneficiaries’
organizations and the range and pasture. Such results were
attributed to the lack of alternative national support that can
cover the void left by the withdrawal of the external support, the
discontinuous of supervision for the central and grass-root
beneficiaries’ organizations, as well as the absence of effective
professional executive management for the central beneficiaries’
organization.
Present technologies of locking and monitoring the
cargo do not provide effective solution for the situation. A little
corruption among the employees can easily deceive whole
security system. Since the cargo contains materials of high value
and in high quantity, these containers are more prone to the
pilferage and hence to protect the material we need a sound
technique which minimizes the loss due to involvement of the
corrupt employees. The technical work undertaken here aims at
providing a sound mechanism to prevent pilferage in the cargo
containers by implying an electronic lock and having series of
basic security check like swapping the RFID card provided to the
customer, biometric sensor and by entering the password which
is sent at the time of delivery to the customer. Therefore it
minimizes the human interference security of the cargo
containers.
This paper proposes a cost effective method of tracking cargo
mobility using GPS. The system gives current vehicle location
whenever needed with reliable accuracy. The system uses GSM
and GPS Technology, helping in efficient monitoring of the
desired vehicles. The paper also discusses the proposed GPS
based vehicle Tracking System using GSM technology in which
the coordinates are forwarded to Central monitoring system. The
position of the vehicle can be traced on Google / Local maps. The
paper gives functional, Technical description and Software
implementation for the GPS and GSM based Vehicle Tracking
System.
Without water, humans cannot live. Since time began,
we have lived by the water and vast tracts of waterless land have
been abandoned as it is too difficult to inhabit. At any given
moment, the earth’s atmosphere contains 4,000 cubic miles of
water, which is just 0.000012% of the 344 million cubic miles of
water on earth. Nature maintains this ratio via evaporation and
condensation, irrespective of the activities of man.
There is a certain need for an alternative to solve the water
scarcity. Obtaining water from the atmosphere is nothing new -
since the beginning of time, nature’s continuous hydrologic cycle
of evaporation and condensation in the form of rain or snow has
been the sole source and means of regenerating wholesome water
for all forms of life on earth.
An effective method to generate water is by the separation of
moisture present in air by condensation. In this study, the water
present in air is condensed on the surface of a container and then
collected in an external jacket provided on the container.
Insulations are provided to optimize the inner temperature of the
container.
The method is although uncommon but has certain advantages
which make it a success. The process is economical and does not
require a lot of utilities. It also helps in further reducing the
carbon footprint.

A study on the photoperiodic control of flower in rice
is advancing and rice has become an of short day plant. Many
genes used in flowering time determination in rice have been
identified by many methods. The conclusion from these
molecular studies is a remarkable conservation of genes which
play an important role in the control of flowering time in rice.
The rice photoperiod sensitivity gene Hd3a was originally
detected as a heading date related quantitative trait locus found
on chromosome 6 of rice. High resolution linkage mapping of
Hd3a was carried using a huge segregating population derived
from advanced backcross progeny between a japonica variety,
Nipponbare, and an indica variety, Kasalath. Researchers
revealed that there are three (3) pathways for the day length
regulation of flowering in rice, short day activation pathway and
long day suppression pathway lastly the long day activation
pathway. Some genes where used in multiple pathways and
others are specific to a particular pathway. There regulation also
depends on the developmental stages. Rice may be an ideal plant
to study the night break effect on flowering. In the near future
there is need for better understand the controlled of flowering in
rice at the genetic level.
Bell pepper, also known as sweet pepper or a pepper
and capsicum, is a cultivar group of the species Capsicum
annuum. Cultivars of the plant produce fruits in different colors,
including red, yellow, orange, green, chocolate/brown,
vanilla/white, and purple. Bell peppers are sometimes grouped
with less pungent pepper varieties as "sweet peppers“. Bell
peppers are sensitive to an abundance of moisture and excessive
temperatures. The main aim of this project is to determine the
proximate principles of bell pepper. To perform sensory
evaluation of the bell pepper recipe in order to determine it
acceptability in terms of different sensory attributes. To make
oneself familiar with Research Methodology that is reference
work, experimental work, statistical analysis of experimental
data, interpretation of results obtained, writing of project work
and compilation of bibliography in proper order. To study the
biochemical and nutritional profile of bell pepper. The various
proximate principles and physiochemical properties of bell
pepper sample are recorded. To estimate various parameters in
an individual sample of bell pepper with two different colours.
The estimate various nutritional components of bell pepper are
recorded. To estimate their liking on the basis of the taste of two
bell pepper by conducting sensory evaluation. The significance of
the study section is that we get the chance to create a perspective
for looking at the problem. It points out how the study relates to
the larger issues and uses a persuasive rationale to justify the
reason for the study. The significance of the study makes the
purposes worth pursuing. In a project to identify and analyse the
phytochemical properties of bell pepper were evaluated. The bell
pepper selected fruit were greenish-reddish in color and firm
feeling. The study suggests that red and green bell pepper has
equal nutritive value and infact the red bell pepper has more
culinary uses and is more spicy and tastier than green bell
pepper. We have done proximate analysis and also antimicrobial
activity was done to check the minimal inhibitory concentration
and sensory evaluation have also done for the sample the results
obtained was Determination of various nutritive and
phytochemical properties of the fruit extracts have been
determined. These active fruit extract may be further subjected
to biological and pharmacological investigation and other
therapeutic compounds
Detection of Diabetic Retinopathy using Kirsch Edge Detection and Watershed T...IJARIIT
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a common retinal complication associated with diabetics. A complication of diabetes is that it can also affect various parts of the body. When the small blood vessels have a high level of glucose in the retina, the vision will be blurred and can cause blindness eventually, which is known as diabetic retinopathy. However, if symptoms are identified in the early stage then proper treatment can be provided to prevent blindness. Usually the retinal images obtained from the fundus camera are examined directly and diagnosed. Due to this certain abnormalities due to diabetic retinopathy are not directly visible through the naked eye .Hence by using the image processing techniques these abnormalities can be extracted accurately and required treatments and precautions can be taken. And this also reduces the time for the ophthalmologists to detect the disease and give accurate treatments.
Automatic detection of optic disc and blood vessels from retinal images using...eSAT Journals
Abstract Diabetic retinopathy is the common cause of blindness. This paper presents the mathematical morphology method to detect and eliminate the optic disc (OD) and the blood vessels. Detection of optic disc and the blood vessels are the necessary steps in the detection of diabetic retinopathy because the blood vessels and the optic disc are the normal features of the retinal image. And also, the optic disc and the exudates are the brightest portion of the image. Detection of optic disc and the blood vessels can help the ophthalmologists to detect the diseases earlier and faster. Optic disc and the blood vessels are detected and eliminated by using mathematical morphology methods such as closing, filling, morphological reconstruction and Otsu algorithm. The objective of this paper is to detect the normal features of the image. By using the result, the ophthalmologists can detect the diseases easily. A review on implementation of algorithms for detection of diabetic retinopathyeSAT Journals
Abstract Diabetes is a group of metabolic disease in which a person has high blood sugar. Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is caused by the abnormalities in the retina due to insufficient insulin in the body. It can lead to sudden vision loss due to delayed detection of retinopathy. So that Diabetic patients require regular medical checkup for effective timing of sight –saving treatment. This is continuous and stimulating research area for automated analysis of Diabetic Retinopathy in Diabetic patients. A completely automated screening system for the detection of Diabetic Retinopathy can effectively reduces the burden of the specialist and saves cost as well as time. Due to noise and other disturbances that occur during image acquisition Diabetic Retinopathy may lead to false detection and this is overcome by various image processing techniques. Further the different features are extracted which serves as the guideline to identify and grade the severity of the disease. Based on the extracted features classification of the retinal image as normal or abnormal is carried out. In this paper, we have presented detail study of various screening methods for Diabetic Retinopathy. Many researchers have made number of attempts to improve accuracy, predictivity, sensitivity and specificity. Keywords: Color Fundus Images, Diabetic Retinopathy, Exudates, Lesions.

GLAUCOMA is a chronic eye disease that can damage optic nerve. According to WHO It
is the second leading cause of blindness, and is predicted to affect around 80 million people by 2020.
Development of the disease leads to loss of vision, which occurs increasingly over a long period of
time. As the symptoms only occur when the disease is quite advanced so that glaucoma is called the
silent thief of sight. Glaucoma cannot be cured, but its development can be slowed down by
treatment. Therefore, detecting glaucoma in time is critical. However, many glaucoma patients are
unaware of the disease until it has reached its advanced stage. In this paper, some manual and
automatic methods are discussed to detect glaucoma. Manual analysis of the eye is time consuming
and the accuracy of the parameter measurements also varies with different clinicians. To overcome
these problems with manual analysis, the objective of this survey is to introduce a method to
automatically analyze the ultrasound images of the eye. Automatic analysis of this disease is much
more effective than manual analysis.
A Survey on Disease Prediction from Retinal Colour Fundus Images using Image ...ijcnes
The aim of this survey is to list the various disease predictions from retinal funds images and various methods used to detect the disease. This paper gives a detailed description about the various diseases predicted in retina by comparing retinal funds image structure. Till now, the prediction of various diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, cardiovascular disease and other eye problems had been predicted by using retinal funds images. Next, a comparative study of the various methods followed using image processing to find out the diseases from retinal funds images, is provided. The basic matrices observed to predict the diseases are optic disc, nerve cup and rim. To find the differences in the basic matrices, image processing techniques such as mask generation, colour normalization, edge detection, contrast enhancement are used. The datasets that are used for retinal image inputs are STARE, DRIVE, ONHSD, ARIA, IMAGERET. The survey at the end, discusses the future work for the possibilities of predicting gastreointestinal problems via retinal funds images.
FUZZY CLUSTERING BASED GLAUCOMA DETECTION USING THE CDR sipij
Glaucoma is a serious eye disease, overtime it will result in gradual blindness. Early detection of thedisease will help prevent against developing a more serious condition. A vertical cup-to-disc ratio which isthe ratio of the vertical diameter of the optic cup to that of the optic disc, of the fundus eye image is an important clinical indicator for glaucoma diagnosis. This paper presents an automated method for the extraction of optic disc and optic cup using Fuzzy C Means clustering technique combined with
thresholding. Using the extracted optic disc and optic cup the vertical cup-to-disc ratio was calculated.
The validity of this new method has been tested on 365 colour fundus images from two different publicly
available databases DRION, DIARATDB0 and images from an ophthalmologist. The result of the method
seems to be promising and useful for clinical work.
Retina is a layer which is found at the back side of the eye ball which plays main role for visualization. Any
disease in the retina leads to severe problems. Blood vessels segmentation and classification of retinal
vessels into arteries and veins is an essential thing for detection of various diseases like Diabetic
Retinography etc. This paper discusses about various existing methodologies for classification of retinal
image into artery and vein which are helpful for the detection of various diseases in retinal fundus image.
This process is basis for the AVR calculation i.e. for the calculation of average diameter of arteries to
veins. One of the symptoms of Diabetic Retinography causes abnormally wide veins and this leads to low
ratio of AVR. Diseases like high blood pressure and pancreas also have abnormal AVR. Thus classification
of blood vessels into arteries and veins is more important. Retinal fundus images are available on the
publically available Database like DRIVE [5], INSPIREAVR [6], VICAVR [7].
Recent joint surgery studies reveal increased
revisions and resurfacing of the metal on metal hip joints. Metal
on metal hip implants were developed more than thirty years ago
and their application has been refined because of availability of
advanced manufacturing techniques and partly by advancements
in material science and engineering. Development of composite
materials may provide greater durability to metal-on-metal hip
implants .This review article is a study of the latest literature of
metal-on-metal hip implants and its various modeling techniques.
Numbers of methods are used for convergence and numerical
solution to investigate the performance of metal-on-metal hip
implant for accurate stable solution. This paper presents analysis
done by various researchers on metal-on-metal hip implants for
wear, lubrication, fatigue, bio-tribo-corrosion, design, toxicity
and resurfacing. After in vivo and in vitro studies, it is found that
all these methods have limitations. There is a need of more
insight for lubrication analysis, geometry of bearings, materials
and input parameters. The information provided in this work is
intended as an aid in the assessment of metal-on-metal hip joints.
Background Hospital contributes significantly tangible and intangible resources on a concurred plan by the scheduling of surgery on the OT list. Postponement decreases efficiency by declining throughput leads to wastage of resources hence burden to the nation. Patients and their family face economic and emotional implication due to the postponement. Postponement rate being a quality indicator controls check mechanism could be developed from the results. Postponement of elective scheduled operations results in inefficient use of the operating room (OR) time on the day of surgery. Inconvenience to patients and families are also caused by postponements. Moreover, the day of surgery (DOS) postponement creates logistic and financial burden associated with extended hospital stay and repetitions of pre-operative preparations to an extent of repetition of investigations in some cases causing escalated costs, wastage of time and reduced income. Methodology A cross-sectional study was done in the operation theaters of a tertiary care hospital in which total ten operation theaters of General Surgery Data of scheduled, performed and postponed surgeries was collected from all the operation theater with effect from March 1st to September 30th, 2018. A questionnaire was developed to find out the reasons for the postponement for all hospital’s stakeholders (surgeons, Anesthetist, Nursing Officer) and they were further evaluated time series analysis of scheduling of Operation Theater for moving average technique. Results Total 958 surgeries were scheduled and 772 surgeries performed were and 186 surgeries were postponed with a postponement rate of 19.42% in the cardiac surgery department during the study period. Month-wise postponement Rate exponential smoothing of time series data shows the dynamic of operating suits. To test throughput Postponement rate was plotted the postponed surgeries and on regression analysis is in a perfect linear relationship.

In the present paper the experimental study of
Nanotechnology involves high cost for Lab set-up and the
experimentation processes were also slow. Attempt has also
been made to discuss the contributions towards the societal
change in the present convergence of Nano-systems and
information technologies. one cannot rely on experimental
nanotechnology alone. As such, the Computer- simulations and
modeling are one of the foundations of computational
nanotechnology. The computer modeling and simulations
were also referred as computational experimentations. The
accuracy of such Computational nano-technology based
experiment generally depends on the accuracy of the following
things: Intermolecular interaction, Numerical models and
Simulation schemes used. The essence of nanotechnology is
therefore size and control because of the diversity of
applications the plural term nanotechnology is preferred by
some nevertheless they all share the common feature of control
at the nanometer scale the latter focusing on the observation

Solar cell absorber Kesterite- type Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin films have been prepared by Chemical Bath Deposition (CBD). UV–vis absorption spectra measurement indicated that the band gap of as-synthesized CZTS was about1.68 eV, which was near the optimum value for photovoltaic solar conversion in a single-band-gap device. The polycrystalline CZTS thin films with kieserite crystal structure have been obtained by XRD. The average of crystalline size of CZTS is 27 nm
Multilevel inverters play a crucial part in the
areas of high and medium voltage applications. Among the three
main multilevel inverters used, the capacitor clamped multilevel
inverter(CCMLI) has advantage with respect to voltage
redundancies. This work proposes a switching pattern to improve
the performance of chosen H-bridge type CCMLI over
conventional CCMLI. The PWM technique used in this work is
Phase Opposition Disposition PWM(PODPWM). The
performance of proposed H-bridge type CCMLI is verified

Flooding is one of the most devastating natural
disasters in Nigeria. The impact of flooding on human activities
cannot be overemphasized. It can threaten human lives, their
property, environment and the economy. Different techniques
exist to manage and analyze the impact of flooding. Some of these
techniques have not been effective in management of flood
disaster. Remote sensing technique presents itself as an effective
and efficient means of managing flood disaster. In this study,
SPOT-10 image was used to perform land cover/ land use
classification of the study area. Advanced Space borne Thermal
Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) image of 2010 was
used to generate the Digital Elevation Model (DEM). The image
focal statistics were generated using the Spatial Analyst/
Neighborhood/Focal Statistics Tool in ArcMap. The contour map
was produced using the Spatial Analyst/ Surface/ Contour Tools.
The DEM generated from the focal statistics was reclassified into
different risk levels based on variation of elevation values. The
depression in the DEM was filled and used to create the flow
direction map. The flow accumulation map was produced using
the flow direction data as input image. The stream network and
watershed were equally generated and the stream vectorized. The
reclassified DEM, stream network and vectorized land cover
classes were integrated and used to analyze the impact of flood on
the classes. The result shows that 27.86% of the area studied will
be affected at very high risk flood level, 35.63% at high risk,
17.90% at moderate risk, 10.72% at low risk, and 7.89% at no
risk flood level. Built up area class will be mostly affected at very
high risk flood level while farmland will be affected at high risk
flood level. Oshoro, Imhekpeme, and Weppa communities will be
affected at very high risk flood inundation while Ivighe, Uneme,
Igoide and Iviari communities will be at risk at high risk flood
inundation level. It is recommended among others that buildings
that fall within the “Very High Risk” area should be identified
and occupants possibly relocated to other areas such as the “No
Risk” area.

The success rate of real estate project is
decreasing as there is large scale of project and participation of
entities. It is necessary to study the risk factors involved in the
project. This paper focused on types of risks involved in the
project, risk factors, risk management tools & techniques.
Identification of risk of the project in terms of the total cost of the
project has been divided under Technical, Financial, Sociopolitical
and Statutory cost centers. Large real estate projects
have to tackle the following issues: land acquisition, skilledlabour
shortage, non-availability of skilled project managers, and
mechanization of the construction process to cater to the growing
demands. Non- availability of supporting infrastructure, political
issues like instability of the government leading to regulatory
issues, social issues, marketing forms an important part in these
projects as this is a onetime investment and the purchase cycle is
long , long development period makes the same project be at
different points in the real estate value cycle.

being protected against any danger or loss. Thus safety plays a
important role in bank transactions where disclosure of any data
results in big loss. We can define networking as the combination
of two or more computers for the purpose of resource sharing.
Resources here include files, database, emails etc. It is the
protection of these resources from unauthorized users that

Background: Septoplasty is a common surgical
procedure performed by otolaryngologists for the correction of
deviated nasal septum. This surgery may be associated with
numerous complications. To minimize these complications,
otolaryngologists frequently pack both nasal cavities with
different types of nasal packing. Despite all its advantages,
nasal packing is also associated with some disadvantages. To
avoid these issues, many surgeons use suturing techniques to
obviate the need for packing after surgery.
Objective: To determine the efficacy and safety of trans-septal
suture technique in preventing complications and decreasing
morbidity after septoplasty in comparison with nasal packing.
Patients and methods: Prospective comparative study. This
study was conducted in the department of Otolaryngology -
Head and Neck Surgery, Rizgary Teaching Hospital - Erbil,
from the 6th of May 2014 to the 30th of November 2014.
A total of 60 patients aged 18-45 years, undergoing septoplasty,
were included in the study. Before surgery, patients were
randomly divided into two equal groups. Group (A) with transseptal
suture technique was compared with group (B) in which
nasal packing with Merocel was done. Postoperative morbidity
in terms of pain, bleeding, postnasal drip, sleep disturbance,
dysphagia, headache and epiphora along with postoperative
complications including septal hematoma, septal perforation,
crustation and synechiae formation were assessed over a follow
up period of four weeks.
Results: Out of 60 patients, 37 patients were males (61.7%)
and 23 patients were females (38.3%). Patients with nasal
packing had significantly more postoperative pain (P<0.05)><0.05). There was no significant difference between
the two groups with respect to nasal bleeding, septal
hematoma, septal perforation, crustation and synechiae
formation.
Conclusion: Septoplasty can be safely performed using transseptal
suturing technique without nasal packing.

ABSTRACT: Diabetic retinopathy is the cause for
blindness in the human society.

I. INTRODUCTION
The effect of diabetes on the eye is called Diabetic
Retinopathy (DR) which can lead to partial or even complete
loss of vision if left undiagnosed at the initial stage. Diabetic
Retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness in the working
age population of developed countries. That is the reason for
which efforts that has been undertaken in last few years in
developing tools to assist diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy[2].
DR is caused by changes in the blood vessels of the retina. In
some people with DR, blood vessels may swell and leak fluid
or abnormal new blood vessels grow on the surface of the
retina.
Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a severe and widely spread
eye disease characterised by abnormal high blood sugar
(hyperglycaemia) resulting from low levels of the hormone
insulin. The progression of retinopathy is from mild non
proliferative abnormalities such as microaneurysm, to
moderate and severe non-proliferative abnormalities such as
exudates and haemorrhages, to proliferative diabetic
retinopathy characterised by the abnormal vessel changes such
as venous beading, intra-retinal microvascular abnormalities
(IRMA) and growth of new blood vessels. Without timely
treatment, the new blood vessels can bleed, leading to vitreous
haemorrhage, fibrosis and retinal detachment. New blood
vessels have a narrower calibre, more tortuous and are
convoluted than normal vessels[3]. New blood vessels are
classified based on the position as new vessels on the optic
disc and new vessels elsewhere. The development of the new
vessels can be inhibited by early diagnosis and treatment.
Hence, screening of all diabetic patients (even without vision
impairment) would help to diagnose the disease early enough
for an optimal treatment. Although the prevalence of
proliferative diabetic retinopathy is low, the onset of vision
loss is considerably high. A number of studies have been made
regarding the detection of microaneurysm, which is the first
sign of diabetic retinopathy[9]. In this paper we proposed the
method by combining the prior works of Optic Disc
Segmentation and detection of new vessels to detect the
disease Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy[4]. In this system
using seven features and as well as physical features we are
recognizing diabetic retinopathy patients.
II. SYSTEMDESIGN
To evaluate the performance of this method, the digital retinal
images were acquired using digital camera known as
opthalmoscope.Fig(1) shows the input image. Fundus image is
the interior surface of the eye, opposite the lens, and includes
the retina,optic disc,macula,blood vessels and fovea[2].We
tested and evaluated our proposed algorithm on several fundus
images. The image set contains both normal and abnormal
cases.
Fig1. Input image.
A. Preprocessing:
In this system images are preprocessed in to Red, Green
and Blue plane to ensure adequate level of success in
abnormality detection. RGB(Red, Green, Blue) images. The
image taken from the fundus camera, eye image is converted
into Red, Green and Blue plane as shown in Fig 2

The preprocessing stage is crucial to the algorithm success due
to the intrinsic characterstics of retinal images. The green
color plane was used in the analysis since it shows the highest
contrast between the vessels and the retina. The green plane
image is used for detecting the abnormalities in the vessels[4].
The image was resized and the optic disc is located
appropriately. Filtering is used to suppress the unwanted noise
as shown in Fig 3. which gets added into the fundus image.
Here median filtering is used as it is very robust and has the
capability to filter any outliers and is an excellent choice for
removal of salt and pepper noise.
Fig.3.Filter RGB Plane
B. Optic Disc Segmentation:
The optic disc can be identified as shown in Fig.4 as a bright
region on a retinal fundus image. In order to reduce
computational time, the approximate locations of optic discs
were identified, and regions of interest (ROIs) that included
the optic discs were extracted from the images. The red color
plane was used in the Optic Disc detection since it gives a
better contrast of the OD region[5]. This system gives good
contrast of optic disc by adjusting image intensity values
,binarise the optic disc and removing small unwanted regions
by filling up the holes optic disc is detected.
Fig4. Optic Disc detection
A multidimensional image representation for the
segmentation of the disc region. Gabor filter is used at three
different values and the result are summed Combining all the
three steps a resultant image is obtained in which the circular
hough transform is applied to initialize the contour[8]. A
region-based active contour model which uses local image
information at a support domain around each point of interest
inspired by localized C-V models by using a richer form of
local image information gathered over a multi-dimensional
feature space is used for the segmentation of the optic disc.As
shown in Fig.5 extracted optic disc is determined by ROI.
Fig.5.Extracted optic disc
C. Segmentation of blood vessels:
Segmentation of the blood vessels are essential since the
abnormal vessels are smaller, more tortuous and convoluted
than the normal blood vessels. Several methods had been used
for segmentation of the blood vessels. Ridges are defined as
points where the image has an extreme in the direction of the
largest surface curvature. The ridge strength can be calculated
by the dark ridges that is formed by the vessel center lines. The
extracted vessels are shown in fig.6 using dilate the edges. The
grey image forms the topographic surface[9]. grey level is
inverted such that the blood vessels form the watershed lines.
The inverted grey image is filtered with the Gaussian filter
such that over segmentation can be avoided. Fig.7 shows the
exact vessels on optic disc using soble gradient method. In this
thin vessels and vessels branch points are filtered out.The non
vessel segments the mean value of along each candidate
segment is calculated and candidates with mean values less
than are discarded.
Fig.6 Extracted blood vessel
D. Feature Measurement
Seven features are calculated for each segment, based on
characteristics human observers use to recognize abnormal
vessels as shown in Fig.7. The vessel origin was estimated as
follows. First, a median filter was applied to remove smaller
vessels. Next a threshold was applied to select the darkest of
pixels, which were assumed to belong to the major blood
vessels. The centroid of the result was taken as the
approximate origin of the
major vessels. The following features were calculated
for each segment[2][6].

1) Segment length: The length of each blood vessel from the
origin calculated in pixel.
2) Gradient: The gradient magnitude of the image at each
point gives the direction of the largest possible change in the
intensity of the grey image. The gradient is calculated using
Sobel gradient operator represents the convolution of original
image with the kernel.
3) Gradient Variation: The standard deviation of the Sobel
gradient is calculated. This feature is based on the observation
That the abnormal vessels have more contrast variation than
the normal vessels.
4) Direction: The angle between tangents to the segment
center point and a line from its center point to the vessel
origin. The feature is based on the observation that normal
vessels tend to radiate from the vessel origin towards the edge
of the disc, whereas the direction of new vessels is more
random.
5) Tortuosity Measure : The sum of the absolute changes in
the tangential direction along segment path The difference in
the angular extrema of the segment tangents. The mean change
in direction per pixel along the segment.
6) Distance from origin: The distance from the center of the
segment to the vessel origin in pixel. This feature is based on
the observation that the abnormal vessels occur towards the
edge of the disc.
7) Number of Segments: The total number of segments
following the candidate segmentation. This feature is based on
the idea that abnormal vessels have more number of segments
than normal vessels.
III. DETECTOR TRAINING AND TESTING
The Support Vector Machine (SVM) is chosen and used
as the classifier for its rapid training and testing phase and for
its good classification performance. Support Vector Machine
is primarily a linear classifier method that performs
classification tasks by constructing hyperplanes in a
multidimensional space that separates cases of different class
labels. In our paper, it represents two classes such as Diabetic
Retinopathy class and normal class. The data for a two class
learning problem consists of objects labelled with one of two
labels corresponding to the two classes; the labels are +1 or -1.
Since The system was trained with the normal and abnormal
images. As there were too few images with new vessels for
separate training and test sets, the SVM was trained and tested
simultaneously by given seven fetures and physical features.
The SVM was trained using all the images in the test set
except the single test image, and this process was repeated for
each image. The feature value normalization was also
recalculated each time.
IV. RESULT
The SVM is classifier, classification depends on the
physical features and number of segments.Fig8,9,10,11 shows
the results and condition and classifies as normal Patient and
Diabetic Retinopathy Patient.

V. CONCLUSION
In this paper, we explore methods towards the
development of an automated system for the purpose of
detecting Diabetic Retinopathy. In this proposed system
depending upon the seven features and human’s physical
features we are ease to find normal patient and Diabetic
Retinopathy Patient. This system will help to find cause of
blindness. We can significantly lower risk of vision loss by
maintaining strict control of blood sugar level. Treatment does
not cure diabetic retinopathy but it is effective in retarding
vision loss and may, at least temporarily, improve vision.
Most people with diabetes retain functional or near functional
vision total blindness is very uncommon if retinopathy is not
treated. Efficacy of treatment if applied at optimal timing.
