The Salon Bois Energie 2014 trade show in France attracted 11,000 visitors from March 13-16, including 7,000 professionals and 4,000 members of the public. Over 400 exhibitors from 20 European countries showcased wood energy products and innovations. In 2015, the Salon Bois Energie will return to Nantes, France from March 19-22 alongside related energy exhibitions.

I4MS 2015 will explore the progress achieved by the I4MS initiative and the impact participation has had on SMEs.
To date I4MS has achieved over 80% industrial participation. An initial participation of 80 SMEs has now grown to 150 as momentum continues to build. Success is also evident with SME participation in projects leading to the adaption of new technologies and approaches. I4MS phase two will take this success further through additional projects supported by a budget of approximately EUR 35 Mn.
At I4MS 2015 participating SMEs will present their experiences, results achieved and impact made. They will explain how they have benefited and what the adaption of innovative ICT has meant for their business. European support does not just exist at EU level.
Action at regional level supported through programmes such as Smart Specialisation present the good opportunity to reach out to and involve the diverse landscape of European SMEs. At I4MS 2015 participants will be introduced to a new activity designed for such outreach – digital innovation competence centres – and an outlook towards the next stage of I4MS.
I4MS is a EUR 77 Mn initiative of the 'Factories of the Future' partnership designed to support the adaption of innovative ICT by SMEs. Through seven integrated projects in four key areas, I4MS brings manufacturing SMEs directly into research and innovation projects, introducing them to innovative technologies and supporting the adoption of such technologies.

In strong contrast to the prevailing gloom, the forty first MIDEST, the world’s leading industrial solutions show that ran from 15th to 18th November received substantially more visitors than last year. MIDEST 2011 hosted 1,724 exhibitors and attracted 42,769 professionals, with the latter figure being 5.8% up on 2010. It was also noticeable how different the atmosphere was to the nervousness on all the air waves and how favourable it was to business, which, in itself, answers all those questions about how French and European business is weathering the storm. The week was marked by a whole series of contracts and orders that were either signed at the show or which should be signed within the near future.
MAINTENANCE EXPO, the total maintenance solutions show held in conjunction with MIDEST, hosted some forty exhibitors and maintained visitor numbers at 9,000, some of whom came just to it and others of whom were drawn from MIDEST.
There were a whole series of highlights extending from the opening of the show by Bernard Accoyer, President of the National Assembly, and His Excellency the Portuguese Ambassador to France, Francisco Seixas da Costa, accompanied by Jean-Claude Volot, the Mediator for company relations, followed, on the next day, by Eric Besson, the Minister of Industry, and then event after event over the four days of the show.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

A series of conferences and study tours also enabled visitors to update their positions on key strategique issues - the presentations are now downloadable from the website. Innovation Abound Of particular note were the numerous innovations and new product releases spanning the entire sector, more than 40 of which were pre-released ahead of the event in «Les Exposants Parlent» on the website. The Innovation Competition itself also saw twelve exemplarary new product releases rewarded with the new colourful Bois Energie d’OR and Bois Energie d’ARGENT trophy. Les Exposants Parlent is still open to viewers on the website and the Jury’s report of the Innovation Competition is also now available for download.
