Terrace Housing In Australia
The terrace housing was built for the middle class our white collar workers who have managed to
escape the slums. These houses were very common in Australia, especially in the heart of Melbourne
and Sydney. The terrace was not big enough to fit the average family however, it was a vast
improvement compared to the slums. Usually there were four bedrooms two on top and two on the
bottom, as well as a kitchen/dining room. Isolation could be utilised if a communicable illness struck,
however the houses themselves were packed in rows next to each other, therefore increasing the risk
of bacteria and disease being spread from house to house. The gabled roof was a common
characteristic of a terrace house and was made out of slate or corrugated

The Postcolonial Theory Of Third Cinema
One of the most popular and important film theory s that it still around today is Third Cinema also
known as the Postcolonial theory. Third cinema emerged in early 1960 through the 1970 s in Latin
America and was seen as a militant tool leading to freedom and a revolution. Third cinema was not
only about films rather it was about literature and artwork as well as political manifestos written by
filmmakers. The whole idea behind third cinema is that it refers to the colonized, neo colonized, or
decolonized nations and minorities of the world whose economic and political structures have been
shaped and deformed within the colonial process (Stam, 93). Third Cinema had emerged mainly from
the Cuban Revolution during the 1950 s but was influenced by different movements including Italian
neorealism and direct cinema and different tools and techniques that the world had not been exposed
to yet. Third cinema rejected the normal conventions of Hollywood as these films were being
produced in second and third world countries. For these filmmakers, it was all about guerilla
filmmaking, which meant that they would often be creating low budget films using a handheld camera
with smaller film crews than usual. These films would often use montage as well as different
combinations of sounds and images in order to get audiences to think about the film and what
messages it was trying to relay. Since it was all about politics, these filmmakers were not aiming to get
rich or gain fame

The Irish Influence
Throughout history, there have been many theatre companies that attempt to preserve their country s
culture through their productions, but none have done so as effectively as Ireland s Abbey Theatre, or
Amharclann Na Mainistreach . Since its opening in 1904 , the Abbey Theatre has remained true to its
original mission, To bring upon the stage the deeper emotions of Ireland.ʺ This approach has allowed
them to thoroughly influence Ireland as a whole, particularly regarding Ireland s culture, economic
standing, political views, and literature. Through its creative productions, the company has maintained
the accurate portrayal of Ireland s history that it is famous for, while still managing to inspire younger
generations in Ireland to pursue careers in theatre. Like many European countries, Ireland has a long
history that has shaped it into the country it is today. Ireland as a whole does not hide from the dark
parts of their past, but chooses to embrace and learn from these events. The Abbey Theatre takes the
same approach by producing plays that highlight these parts of the country s past. Most recently, the
Abbey Theatre has produced The Risen People, which is based on the Dublin Lockout in 1913 .
During this time, over one third of Ireland s population lived in slums , and Jim Larkin, union leader at
the time, encouraged many to strike in order to achieve a better life. This was and is still Ireland s
largest industrial conflict, leading to many violent events, such as

Scott Russell Sanders Staying Put Analysis
In Staying Put: Making a Home in a Restless World by Scott Russell Sanders, Sanders gives a precise
feedback to Salman Rushdie s essays, through cause and effect, examples and argument and
persuasion. The coalesce of these strategies implies Sander s effective verbal dispute of why he
quarrel(s) with Rushdie s beliefs, and at the same time elaborates clear point of view towards why a
uniform nation is more efficient. Through Sander s cynical diction, Sanders lets the the readers
deliberately realize the counterargument that he will present. Promised Land (line 5), crumbling (line
21), bigotry (line 42) and quarrel (line 63), are all puzzled throughout the unclear beginning. The so

Transition Of The Business, Client Organizations Are...
TRANSITION IN SCRUM WAY
SUMMARY
To meet and exceed the expectations of the Business, Client organizations are progressively looking at
using agile methodologies for software development. Agile methods attempt to minimize risk of
software development by developing software in short time boxes, called iterations. An agile software
development process release new working version of software at the end of every iteration. Scrum is
one of the most popular agile development methodologies increasingly being adopted by IT firms.
Scrum is an iterative and incremental Agile Software Development structure for managing product
development. It is a development stratagem where the development team works as a unit to reach a
common goal. Scrum enables a daily face to face communication among all team members and
disciplines in the project.
The scope of this paper is to provide an Outline on Scrum Methodology, its communication and
collaboration.
BODY
A key principle of Scrum is during a project the customers can change their minds about what they
want and need, which is called requirements churn, and that unpredicted challenges cannot be easily
addressed in traditional development methods. As such, Scrum adopts an empirical approach
accepting that the problem cannot be fully understood or defined, focusing instead on maximizing the
team s ability to deliver quickly and respond to rising requirements.
SCRUM Vs TRADITIONAL MODEL

Gee s Article On Discourses
Everyone has discourses, but not everyone knows what a discourse is. In the article, Gee explains
what discourses are, and how they are obtained. So what are they? Discourses are basically things that
you are knowledgeable in that make you, you. For example, some of my discourses include being a
Lacrosse player, being an American man, and being an Engineering student. While some are easily
obtainable, some discourses are simply impossible to obtain, but they are forever changing as you
discover new things about yourself. For Vivian Gornick, a Jewish girl from New York, she knew
nothing of these so called Discourses . Vivian was clueless on things outside of her neighborhood. To
her everyone on earth might as well have been Jewish. However,

Designing A Three Dimensional Object From A Bundle Model
3d Printing
Introduction
3D printing, also referred as additive manufacturing assembling, is essentially a technique for making
a three dimensional object from a bundle model. The object may be of pretty much any structure. In
additive manufacturing technique, an item to be composed is assembled from the base up by adding it
to layers of the improvement material. The additive manufacturing procedure is distinctive from the
subtractive procedure, where material is evacuated from a square by strategies such as chiseling or
penetrating. The primary material used in the improvement of 3D items is plastic, however as of late,
there has also been a huge number of development toward utilizing optional materials like metals of
different sorts and also natural matter like carbon and its changed subordinates (Bhandari, 2014).
Background Hideo Kodama of Nayoga Municipal Industrial Research Institute is mostly considered to
have printed the first strong object from an advanced outline of 3D printing. But still the credit for the
initial 3D printer mostly goes to Charles Hull, who in 1984 planned it while working for the
organization he established, 3D Systems Corp. Charles Hull was a pioneer of the strong imaging
procedure known as stereo lithography and the STL (stereo lithographic) record group which is still
the most broadly utilized organization today as a part of 3D printing. He is similarly respected to have
begun business immediately prototyping that was simultaneous with

The Representation Of Interracial Relationships
In the multi cultural society that we live in today, relationships from all different cultures are
welcomed. The mixing of races has been going on for hunherds of years and dates back to the
unfortunate years of slavery. Where the mixing of white and black was a taboo, but still carried out by
the white slave masters on their black maids/ slaves.
In this essay I will be looking at the representation of interracial relationships and how these
relationships have been portrayed in cinema from 1903 up until present. I will be discussing the how
miscegenation has been represented to audiences over the years as a problem, and something that is
unnatural. This essay will be anasyling scenes from movies such as Birth of a Nation, and What ...

It was this filmed that sparked the 1927 production code, which was called the Don t and Be Carful s.
This production code was a guideline for professionals in the industry, on what was not to be depicted
on the screens for audience to watch. The representation of miscegenation was strictly prohibited from
the years 1930 1956. This production code was a reflection of the views that were held in society at
the time. As cinema is often a reflection of society, miscegenation when it is present in films is often if
not always represented to the audience as problematic. The relationships start off great but have a hard
time progressing to anything further as, each side has to deal with problems that they cannot relate to,
or has issues addressing with their partners. These as these were the views of society at the time, the
view that these interracial relationship wouldn t work and were unnatural were projected on our
screens to further reinforce the message to the audience.
Miscegenation was first shown on screens in 1903, in the film What happened in the tunnel? .
Unusually the interracial relationship is not represented in its typical form. There is no physical
relationship presented to the audience, miscegenation is presented to the audience when a white man
catches the eye of a white woman while embarking on a train

Leadership Styles Of Mohandas Gandhi
For ages world leaders have practiced different styles of leadership and they have been successful in
accomplishing many things from regional peace to world wars. Whether be political, tyrannical, or
religious, world leaders from generations past to current all share similarities and differences in their
leadership styles. World leaders have built respect and trust from developed personalities or
communication styles to motivate and inspire others into action. All leaders can learn from past
success and mistakes of any world leader. In this paper we are going to look at the practices and
leadership styles of Mohandas Gandhi and a brief comparison and contrast of leadership styles to
Fidel Castro.
Mohandas Gandhi
Mohandas Gandhi was born in 1869 in the Bombay region of Porbandar, Gujarat (DuToit, 1996). He
is known as one of the greatest leaders from India and is said to be the father of the Indian
Independence Movement. Gandhi did not become a spiritual and political leader overnight and was
influenced by a number of events throughout his life. From an unlavished childhood, Gandhi was able
to attend law school in London. This was once step in the direction of his quest for morality and
humility in society. After graduating law school, Gandhi practiced law in South Africa where he
quickly realized the discrimination against Indians in South Africa. One day he was booted from a
passenger train because he refused to sit 3rd class because he paid for a 1st class ticket. This

Essay On Age Discrimination
Age has been a discrimination issue for a while and has affected many because of certain rules and
laws those of age have to follow. Age discrimination is something not many look at because some
assume it is not a big deal, it may seem as age equality has been both accepted by the community that
it is known universally because it is in our modern day culture, but as well as facing critical issues
such as elderly abuse or aged care. I will be looking into section 15(1) of the Charter, under the
equality rights it is known as, Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to
the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without
discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, sex, age or mental or physical
disability. Mainly focusing on the discrimination of age and will be discussing two cases that I have
chosen, which are Lavoie v. Canada [2002] 1 S.C.R. 769 and Withler v. Canada (Attorney General),
2011 SCC 12. I will be elaborating on about cases that are particularly about the discrimination of age,
that I have chosen. The first case I will discuss is the case of, Lavoie v. Canada [2002] 1 S.C.R. 769.
To summarize the case, it is about reducing welfare benefits for individuals under the age of thirty and
not participating in training or work experience employment programs. During the trial, the appellant

Introduction: Did you know, as American taxpayers, maintaining the prison at Guantánamo has costed
$4.8 billion since it had opened in 2002? Well this al back to The Global War on Terror under the Bush
administration that,. response to the 9/11 attacks, targeted middle eastern regions of the world;,
collecting men from left to right by heavily armed American soldiers. Unfortunately, some of them are
destined to pay for another man s crime by serving time in Guantanamo Bay. Guantanamo Bay,
located within a naval base in Cuba, became a facility purposed to hold alleged enemy combatants and
terrorists alike. Because of later documented injustices reported against detainees, it gained negative
spotlight by both citizens and world leaders. When Obama succeeded in presidency, closing the
facility became one of his priorities for a number of reasons.

Various Types Of Occupational Fraud
Types of Fraud
The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners displays what is known as the Fraud Tree. It is a
representation of the three major types of occupational fraud (www.acfe.com). Occupational fraud is
any scheme that involves employees taking cash, resources, or misapplies assets of the business for
their personal gain (www.smartceo.com).
Type I: Corruption
Corruption is an intentional, dishonest act where an employee abuses their position in the company for
personal gain (www.curtin.edu.au). It can take many forms. Bribery is a form of corruption. This is
receiving or paying for illegal advantages. An example of bribery is a company official paying a
public official to gain advantage over competitors. Embezzlement is another form of corruption. This
is when someone has legal access, but not ownership of assets, that steals them for personal gain. For
example, the treasurer of the local PTA may decide to take PTA funds to buy her daughter s prom
dress. Conflict of interest is another form of corruption. If the purchasing manager sits on the board of
his wife s company and then awards contracts to her company, that is a conflict of interest.
Type II: Asset Misappropriation
This is the most common form of occupational fraud and accounts for over 85% of fraud cases. It also
usually has the lowest cost of loss. Asset misappropriation is the intentional, illegal use of the
company s assets for one s personal use (Mohlenhoff Uhl, 2014). An example would

Ukiyo E Influence On Society

freedom to explore literature and the arts. However, from the 1670s through 1865 was the Tokugawa
period, also known as the Edo period, where Japan was guided to internal peace and economic growth
(The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica). Not only had Japan found stability in the Edo period,
creativity flourished from the lower class of artisans and merchants through the exploration of ukiyo e
printmaking. The term, ukiyo e, is a combination of uki (floating), yo (world), and e (pictures) that
originated as a Buddhist term to express impermanence of human life. Ukiyo e was experimented and

Thus, the government s new dietary guidelines highlighted recommendations of 1,000 IU a day for
older people and other high risk groups. Some researchers think that levels as high as 2,000 IU a day

Not enough, too much
Vitamin D can be harmful in large doses, probably starting at 2,000 IU a day, which can lead to kidney
stones, kidney failure, and the deterioration of muscle and bone. But a daily intake of 1,000 IU is
known to be safe.
We now believe that 800 to 1,000 IU is a good goal for those 70 and older. It s nearly impossible to get
this much without taking a supplement. People living in the northern third of the U.S. and in Canada,
those with dark skin, those who are housebound or institutionalized, and those who consume no milk
or other fortified foods should also consider supplementation.
The chart below lists good food sources of D. Most multivitamin/mineral supplements have 400 IU.

As a significant increase in police contact with people with mental illness has a raised, proper training

Most importantly, a training model must provide a detailed program for officers to follow, which the
CIT model is one such strategy. One of the key aspects of the crisis intervention model is the fostering
a relationship between law enforcement and mental health professionals (Tucker, Van Hasselt, Russell,
2008). Hinging on the fact that law enforcement administrators and officers must be willing to
perform the groundwork to meet the needs of the mental health community and vice versa.
Jail diversion initiatives hinge on the availability of mental health services and practitioners. The
further away these services are geographically, the more logistical challenges exist to implement a
successful program. These issues are less common in metropolitan areas than in largely rural areas
(Sirotich, 2009).

Lord Peter Analysis
Lord Peter loves the thrill a new assignment can bring, just as any other person can enjoy discovering
something new or does what they truly love. People get tired of routine and of bland circumstances,
which is why Lord Peter addresses why the case he is working on does not fulfill him. He says,
Competent, of course, but no imagination. I want imagination in a criminal. (50). When something is
done with imagination, it is usually well thought and done. If anyone tries to figure out how that work
was gone, it is hard because of the amount of thought process that was put in it. It is no fun to know
everything because there is not any mystery or point to what is being done. Lord Peter seems to think
that these cases have no point and asks his valet to restrain him from starting two hares at once. ...

He explains, It s a hobby to me, you see. I took it up when the bottom of things was knocked out for

Assimilation And Culture In Rita Hook s Eating Vinegar
Assimilation vs Cultural Pacification
It is no secret that people in a foreign land often struggle to assimilate into other cultures. This feat is
particularly difficult in China where cultural and familial ties are deep seated. In Eating Vinegar, Rita
Hooks describes the great lengths one must be willing to go to become accepted in a new culture. She
uses foot binding among other Chinese practices and customs to explain how ridiculous it is to force
others to give up their culture and adopt the prevalent one rather than blend them. One of the most
obvious things which distinguished Sadie from her new peers was her language. Hooks consistently
points out the language barrier by always mentioning when people didn t understand her or spoke in
different languages. She also points out when different terms are used between the two cultures such
as kitchen cleaver. Another way language separates Sadie from society is her job. Her career was
limited to tutoring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though most modern Chinese women do not have bound feet, it was still used to evoke racism toward
Sadie. She was frequently teased by her students and peers for having such big feet which leads to her
interest in foot binding. Toward the end of the story she starts posing like the foot bound women in
Heng s book and eventually convinces herself that Heng was upset that she had big feet which actually
turns out to be true. Heng s feelings toward the size of sadie s feet become evident as the story
progresses. He begins with the attitude that he likes big feet saying that she was his all American girl.
Later his true feelings begin to show when he talks about the poem about the dancing girl with the
bound feet. He talks about her feet saying something can be done about this. When she expresses her
pain, Heng plays it off like he was joking and kisses her feet. This happens again later in the

Effects Of Anorexia Nervosa And Bulimia Nervosa
Even though there are many factors that contribute to eating disorders, the media plays an influential
role in the lives of many women. Eating disorders are abnormal and serious disturbances in one s
eating habits caused by many factors. Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are two well known
eating disorders. The causes of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are difficult to understand but
there are a lot of factors that play a role in the development of them. Females are more likely to
develop an eating disorder and heightened concern about weight than males. One of the reasons why
is because girls are convinced that their appearances is the most important way of defining
themselves. The media and the society takes part in why girls believe this. Both affect the way girls
view themselves and their eating habits. Anorexia nervosa is a disorder characterized by a large weight
loss, a fear of weight gain, and faulty eating patterns. (Ph.D., P. R. 25) Symptoms of this disorder
include the following: dramatic weight loss, refusal to eat foods, fatigue, absence of menstrual period,
and feelings of being fat or over weight even though one is underweight. Athletics and people who
engage in weight and performance activities are more likely to be exposed to the dangers of eating
disorders. (Kaminker 37) Women athletes are developing anorexia because they are facing pressure
from people to lose weight. For example, Christy Henrich, a gymnast, died from anorexia at a very

Genetic Determinism
Genetic Determinism
On Christmas Day in the year 2001, I gave birth to a healthy baby boy. When I looked into the brand
new face of my son I saw a beautiful mystery. I wondered what kind of man my boy would grow to be
and what his life would be like. There are those in the scientific community who would argue that my
son s path was already determined at the moment of his birth, that his fate could be deciphered from
his genetic make up. As a nurturing mother I know better. At two years old my son has developed a
more diverse vocabulary than many children twice or even three times his age. He recognizes many
written words and reads them aloud. He is able to spell his name. He can distinguish a square from a
rectangle and an octagon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many scholars believe that the new science of behavioral genetics has intellectual roots in the old
ideas of Eugenics (Steen 33). Eugenics disguised a political agenda as a scientific one in an attempt to
endow discrimination with credibility. Supporters of genetic determinism theories do the same.
Richard Herrnstein and Charles Murray defend the theory of genetic determinism in The Bell Curve:
Intelligence and Class Structure in American Life, which was published ten years ago. Their book is
one of the most widely referenced works regarding the theory that intelligence is inherited. The
authors claim that the social order mirrors natural selection, wherein the genetically superior or more
intelligent human rises to the top. Of course this means that the lower class, predominantly blacks, are
represented as genetically inferior (xxi xxiii). The authors claim that ethnic differences in cognitive
ability are neither surprising nor in doubt (269) and attribute the inequality of life among Americans to
inherent differences between races in intelligence (127). Their argument rests on the assertion that
intelligence is both inheritable and immutable and is supported by intelligence test scores. The text is
full of contradictions and a close analysis proves it to be lacking in evidence and smacking of social
myth. Their theories are developed using speculation and are tainted by bias. There is no science

The Pinnacle Of Weird Behavior In Rosemary s Baby
Rosemary s Baby The neighbors in this clip from Rosemary s Baby are the pinnacle of weird
behavior. This movie was made in 1968 adapted from the book Rosemary s Baby written by Ira Levin.
The story is about a girl named Rosemary, who recently has had a baby. Her husband is a small time
actor whose success is just starting to pick up. There neighbors, the Casavets seem very nice at first,
but this changes extremely fast when she realizes they are Satanists. This part of the film shows
Rosemary holding a knife. She wants her child back from these creepy people. They had given her
sedatives and according to the people there she took too many and was going crazy. She goes to look
at her baby only to see its eyes are cut out. She screams and Mr. Casavet says, He s got his fathers
eyes referring to Satan. They keep talking about how her son is the son of Satan and they keep saying
how God is dead. It is a very eerie seen that creates a chilling mood. ... Show more content on

This movie came out in 1968, and for that time, this movie was considered horrifying. This movie is
so scary because it is everyone s worst nightmare to have neighbors like this. It shows how the fear of
having a weird, or in this case psychotic neighbor resonated in society 48 years ago, and it still does
today. Although today, 10 year olds could probably watch this film, back in the day this was obviously
directed at adults only. This film seen by most people in movie theaters. This movie does have a
deeper significance when it comes to Satanism itself. The Satanist church was founded in the 1960 s
and it is supposed to show the members in a negative light. It is supposed to scare people into
believing that all Satanists are cold blooded murderers. This is especially scary because more people
were deeply religious back in the 60 s compared to

Herram Delvile
The relationship between Cecilia and Mortimer Delvile is one of the most frustrating parts of the
novel. Delvile is an indecisive, self centered man who does not think about the effects that his actions
might have on another person. He is not malicious, but he is inconsiderate and he introduces great pain
into Cecilia s life. He initially confesses to her that he loves her, then ignores her just long enough that
she is able to move on from him, then comes back into her life under the pretense of friendship, and
then he leaves again. His flippant disregard for her feelings takes a toll on Cecilia as she tries to
pinpoint what kind of relationship they actually have. Delvile finally decides that he does indeed love
her and want to be with her, so he travels to find her and suggests what he believes to be an excellent
compromise for the both of them: a secret wedding. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The line The joy with which he heard it...was as violent as the eagerness with which he had sought it
is especially poignant; while Delvile may love Cecilia, he is totally ignorant of how a secret wedding
will take a toll on her personal morality. The scene comments on how men often innately brush aside
female concerns because they are affected by them, nor do they want to take the time to understand
where women are coming from. Not to mention, the secret wedding is only on the table in the first
place because Delvile cannot bring himself to take Cecilia s surname as his own, therefore taking on a

Athena, the goddess of wisdom, wants to make the homecoming of Odysseus successful. The

Eukaryotic Organelles
Introduction:
There are many questions frequently asked in the field of microbiology, one being which eukaryotic
organelle is the most crucial to the function of living organisms. Whilst all organelles are essential to
eukaryotes, undoubtedly the nucleus is the most important. Yet, many argue that the mitochondrion or
endoplasmic reticulum (ER) are equally if not more important to cellular function. Although both
organelles have similarities with the nucleus and work with it to complete various functions it is
evidential that the nucleus is more crucial.
The Nucleus:
The nucleus presence is used to classify cell as a eukaryote rather than prokaryote. The nucleus is the
most prominent organelle within the cell and is a large spherical shape, ... Show more content on

These processes occur when ribosomes and RNA leave the nucleus and attach to the RER and begin to
synthesise proteins. Before moving on any required modifications to newly formed proteins are made.
These proteins can then pass through the translocon and into the lumen where they undergo quality
control (British Society for Cell Biology, 2017a). From there can be transported to different parts of
the RER and eventually to other organelles that require them such as mitochondria (Kaiser, 2007).
This creates all the proteins that the cell and living organism need to function. These vary in type and
function from enzymes, used in all chemical reactions within the organism, to somewhat simpler
proteins such as hormones that organisms used to regulate their functions (Wilson, 2015). The
transportation network the ERs create is also vital in ensuring that all other organelles function

Learning and Change in Organizations
Learning and Change in Organizations
We live in a dynamic world with constantly varying conditions and aspects that influence how we
make business operations and manage resources. The varying conditions in different circumstances
require a level of understanding that is made possible through learning. This essentially means that
learning consistent with the varying condition is in order to stay in touch and articulate matters
appropriately. Business operations cannot be expected to carry on in the similar ways as in the past
with no considerations of what is happening in the modern world (Pless, 2007).
Learning is a process of discovery that generates new understanding about ourselves and the world
around us. Strategic learning is organizational learning that improves the strategic capability of the
organization and changes the basic assumptions underlying the stable generation mechanism that
structures the strategic behavior design process. Organizations have various levels of knowledge and
learn at all levels (Stein Nelson, 2003). The levels of organizational learning interact, making higher
order learning such as strategic learning problematic. Change resulting from learning need not be
visibly behavioral. Learning may result in new and significant insights and awareness that dictate no
behavioral change. In this sense the crucial element in learning is that the organism be consciously
aware of differences and alternatives and have consciously chosen one of these

Christian Beliefs
As a Christian school, we must come up with a list of statements that describe who we are and what
we believe. As Christians, there are certain doctrines that we believe in like the doctrine of the Bible
or the doctrine of the church. From the WCS statement of faith, I chose three statements to interview
my pastor about. The first one I choose stated that: We believe in the present indwelling ministry of
the Holy Spirit, whose intercessory and sanctifying work continually renews the Christian and enables
him to live a godly life in conformity with the Scripture. (John 14:15 17) The Holy Spirit is an
important aspect of the Christian faith for many reasons and the Pentecost is one of the main ones. The

SOdom and Gamosahr was a very very sinful place but it was destroyed because God could not find

Essay on Ancient Rome and Cleopatra
Cleopatra Read the following passage carefully at least twice. What does it tell us about Plutarch s
view of the relationship between Antony and Cleopatra? For Plutarch peoples actions, however trite,
were great indications of a person s moral character (Plutarch, 1914, p. 225). We can, therefore,
assume that Plutarch would have placed great importance on the everyday activities of Cleopatra and
Antony in reflecting the character of their relationship. Plutarch wrote 150 years after the events of
Cleopatra and Antony and was therefore heavily influenced by Roman views of, not only, the couple
themselves but also by Roman s understanding and expectations of relationships, gender and race.
Plutarch highlights the inseparability of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So in Plutarch s eyes, Antony has failed to live up to his male role within the relationship. Roman s
believed that A man s whole being is moulded by the habits of his daily life (Moohan, 2008. p. 27). To
Plutarch, Antony s activities such as fishing indicates Antony s failure to live up to his honorable rank
as a Roman general. He is clearly inferior to the man he once was when he hunted cities, realms, and
continents (Plutarch, in AA100 Assignment Booklet, 2011, p.17). At times, Plutarch shows more
concern with Antony s behaviour than Cleopatra s. Antony s actions are described as mad follies and,
although Cleopatra participates, it is Antony s actions that lack reason, not hers (Plutarch, in AA100
Assignment Booklet, 2011, p.17). Romans viewed Egyptian way of life as inferior and barbaric
compared to the civility of Roman culture as was reiterated by many Roman historians such as
Cassius Dio (Moohan, 2008. p. 27). Therefore, Plutarch is more concerned with Antony s actions as he
expects more from a Roman man. As a woman and an Egyptian, Plutarch does not have such high
expectations of Cleopatra hence why he is less focussed on her. This passage underlines the
relationship s negative influence on Antony and highlights the power dynamics of the relationship.
Cleopatra is in control and outwits Antony, whereas he is powerless and idiotic. Plutarch makes sense
of Antony s behaviour with a

Honor And Glory In The Iliad, By Homer
The Iliad, by Homer, is an epic poem that portrays a 9 year war between the Trojans and the Greeks.
The objective of the war was to retrieve Helen, the wife of Menelaus, from Paris, a Trojan prince, but
it resulted in a brutal, prolonged battle. The Iliad begins with the ire of Achilles who decides to sit out
of the 9 year war because he is unwilling to fight for the Agamemnon any further, as Agamemnon is,
in the eyes of Achilles, a coward who is unwilling to fight his own war. In the Greek world Honor and
Glory were essential elements in defining the worthiness of a man. Honor took form in taking the
reputation of another, and Glory took form in recognition of an accolade. Hence, In The Iliad, Homer
degrades the ideology of Honor and Glory through Achilles rejection to participate in the war.
In The Iliad, the tenet of Honor, by the recognition of accomplishments, in the Greek world is shown
through the conversations between Glaucus and Sarpedon about the 9 year war. In book 12, Sarpedon
attempts to convince Glaucus to fighting the Greeks by saying, But as it is, death is everywhere, in
more shapes than we can count, and since no mortal is immune or can escape, Let us go forward either
to give to another man or to get glory from him (12.338 342). Here Sarpedon speaks with conviction
about the common war beliefs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to sit out of the war, rather than to fight and slaughter as he always has in wars. Homer, the author of

Honor and Glory, where Andromache, Hector s wife, also serves as a reminder

Reflection About Living With God
The book is about living with God, instead of living over, under, for, or from him. It talks about how
important it is to be aware of how we think about God and our relationship with him. I appreciate this
book a lot because the day I accepted Christ was when I finally understood that everything he did
wasn t to get me a get out of hell free card, it was to be able to spend the rest of this life drawing me
closer to him and to spend eternity with him. In that regard, the first part of the book was about what I
expected, but as I was surprised, encouraged, and challenged as I got further into the book.
The first point that stood out to me was the way we assign the way we value effectiveness to God; we
assume that he gauges success the same way we do. I love the way the author presented the story of
Moses striking the rock in the light of him doing only what he knew had worked in the past. He
followed a formula; and yes, he was effective, but he was not faithful or obedient. It is possible to
succeed without being in relationship with God. Along the same lines, one of the most helpful ways I
ve heard this concept presented is from Moses initial reaction with God; God finding Moses and
arguing back and forth with him while Moses makes excuse after excuse about everything he can t do.
God is not a God of efficiency. What would have been efficient is snapping his fingers and freeing all
the Israelite slaves from their captors in Egypt. But he chose to work through Moses;

Jane Austen Gender Roles
In Jane Austen s novel, Sense and Sensibility, the emphasis on different dominant values rendered a
foundational perceiving for audiences as an insight of Georgian Era. Her constant establishment of
property and propriety throughout the writing embodies a specified description of daily life in the
nineteenth century. As well as writing about conventional marriages and male domination in the
society, the audio extract of XXXXX, incorporated with discussions that Austen mentioned

Austen s satire on the role of women leads to an introspection of this stereotypical, yet subconscious
behavior that displays a dishonest and duplicitous performance in the novel. Her disapproval of these
female character s immoral actions implied her admiration on propriety, but also vaguely critiques this
kind of idea that encourages incorrect morals. As well as Austen s exposure on gender roles, XXXX s

  • 2. Terrace Housing In Australia The terrace housing was built for the middle class our white collar workers who have managed to escape the slums. These houses were very common in Australia, especially in the heart of Melbourne and Sydney. The terrace was not big enough to fit the average family however, it was a vast improvement compared to the slums. Usually there were four bedrooms two on top and two on the bottom, as well as a kitchen/dining room. Isolation could be utilised if a communicable illness struck, however the houses themselves were packed in rows next to each other, therefore increasing the risk of bacteria and disease being spread from house to house. The gabled roof was a common characteristic of a terrace house and was made out of slate or corrugated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Postcolonial Theory Of Third Cinema One of the most popular and important film theory s that it still around today is Third Cinema also known as the Postcolonial theory. Third cinema emerged in early 1960 through the 1970 s in Latin America and was seen as a militant tool leading to freedom and a revolution. Third cinema was not only about films rather it was about literature and artwork as well as political manifestos written by filmmakers. The whole idea behind third cinema is that it refers to the colonized, neo colonized, or decolonized nations and minorities of the world whose economic and political structures have been shaped and deformed within the colonial process (Stam, 93). Third Cinema had emerged mainly from the Cuban Revolution during the 1950 s but was influenced by different movements including Italian neorealism and direct cinema and different tools and techniques that the world had not been exposed to yet. Third cinema rejected the normal conventions of Hollywood as these films were being produced in second and third world countries. For these filmmakers, it was all about guerilla filmmaking, which meant that they would often be creating low budget films using a handheld camera with smaller film crews than usual. These films would often use montage as well as different combinations of sounds and images in order to get audiences to think about the film and what messages it was trying to relay. Since it was all about politics, these filmmakers were not aiming to get rich or gain fame ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Irish Influence Throughout history, there have been many theatre companies that attempt to preserve their country s culture through their productions, but none have done so as effectively as Ireland s Abbey Theatre, or Amharclann Na Mainistreach . Since its opening in 1904 , the Abbey Theatre has remained true to its original mission, To bring upon the stage the deeper emotions of Ireland.ʺ This approach has allowed them to thoroughly influence Ireland as a whole, particularly regarding Ireland s culture, economic standing, political views, and literature. Through its creative productions, the company has maintained the accurate portrayal of Ireland s history that it is famous for, while still managing to inspire younger generations in Ireland to pursue careers in theatre. Like many European countries, Ireland has a long history that has shaped it into the country it is today. Ireland as a whole does not hide from the dark parts of their past, but chooses to embrace and learn from these events. The Abbey Theatre takes the same approach by producing plays that highlight these parts of the country s past. Most recently, the Abbey Theatre has produced The Risen People, which is based on the Dublin Lockout in 1913 . During this time, over one third of Ireland s population lived in slums , and Jim Larkin, union leader at the time, encouraged many to strike in order to achieve a better life. This was and is still Ireland s largest industrial conflict, leading to many violent events, such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Scott Russell Sanders Staying Put Analysis In Staying Put: Making a Home in a Restless World by Scott Russell Sanders, Sanders gives a precise feedback to Salman Rushdie s essays, through cause and effect, examples and argument and persuasion. The coalesce of these strategies implies Sander s effective verbal dispute of why he quarrel(s) with Rushdie s beliefs, and at the same time elaborates clear point of view towards why a uniform nation is more efficient. Through Sander s cynical diction, Sanders lets the the readers deliberately realize the counterargument that he will present. Promised Land (line 5), crumbling (line 21), bigotry (line 42) and quarrel (line 63), are all puzzled throughout the unclear beginning. The so what called heroes (line 3) of the ancient ... Agile methods attempt to minimize risk of software development by developing software in short time boxes, called iterations. An agile software development process release new working version of software at the end of every iteration. Scrum is one of the most popular agile development methodologies increasingly being adopted by IT firms. Scrum is an iterative and incremental Agile Software Development structure for managing product development. It is a development stratagem where the development team works as a unit to reach a common goal. Scrum enables a daily face to face communication among all team members and disciplines in the project. The scope of this paper is to provide an Outline on Scrum Methodology, its communication and collaboration. BODY A key principle of Scrum is during a project the customers can change their minds about what they want and need, which is called requirements churn, and that unpredicted challenges cannot be easily addressed in traditional development methods. As such, Scrum adopts an empirical approach accepting that the problem cannot be fully understood or defined, focusing instead on maximizing the team s ability to deliver quickly and respond to rising requirements. • 7. Gee s Article On Discourses Everyone has discourses, but not everyone knows what a discourse is. In the article, Gee explains what discourses are, and how they are obtained. So what are they? Discourses are basically things that you are knowledgeable in that make you, you. For example, some of my discourses include being a Lacrosse player, being an American man, and being an Engineering student. While some are easily obtainable, some discourses are simply impossible to obtain, but they are forever changing as you discover new things about yourself. For Vivian Gornick, a Jewish girl from New York, she knew nothing of these so called Discourses . Vivian was clueless on things outside of her neighborhood. Designing A Three Dimensional Object From A Bundle Model 3d Printing Introduction 3D printing, also referred as additive manufacturing assembling, is essentially a technique for making a three dimensional object from a bundle model. The object may be of pretty much any structure. In additive manufacturing technique, an item to be composed is assembled from the base up by adding it to layers of the improvement material. The additive manufacturing procedure is distinctive from the subtractive procedure, where material is evacuated from a square by strategies such as chiseling or penetrating. The primary material used in the improvement of 3D items is plastic, however as of late, there has also been a huge number of development toward utilizing optional materials like metals of different sorts and also natural matter like carbon and its changed subordinates (Bhandari, 2014). Background Hideo Kodama of Nayoga Municipal Industrial Research Institute is mostly considered to have printed the first strong object from an advanced outline of 3D printing. Charles Hull was a pioneer of the strong imaging procedure known as stereo lithography and the STL (stereo lithographic) record group which is still the most broadly utilized organization today as a part of 3D printing. Leadership Styles Of Mohandas Gandhi For ages world leaders have practiced different styles of leadership and they have been successful in accomplishing many things from regional peace to world wars. Whether be political, tyrannical, or religious, world leaders from generations past to current all share similarities and differences in their leadership styles. He is known as one of the greatest leaders from India and is said to be the father of the Indian Independence Movement. From an unlavished childhood, Gandhi was able to attend law school in London. This was once step in the direction of his quest for morality and humility in society. Embezzlement is another form of corruption. This is when someone has legal access, but not ownership of assets, that steals them for personal gain. For example, the treasurer of the local PTA may decide to take PTA funds to buy her daughter s prom dress. Conflict of interest is another form of corruption. If the purchasing manager sits on the board of his wife s company and then awards contracts to her company, that is a conflict of interest. Type II: Asset Misappropriation This is the most common form of occupational fraud and accounts for over 85% of fraud cases. It also usually has the lowest cost of loss. This feat is particularly difficult in China where cultural and familial ties are deep seated. In Eating Vinegar, Rita Hooks describes the great lengths one must be willing to go to become accepted in a new culture. She uses foot binding among other Chinese practices and customs to explain how ridiculous it is to force others to give up their culture and adopt the prevalent one rather than blend them. One of the most obvious things which distinguished Sadie from her new peers was her language. Hooks consistently points out the language barrier by always mentioning when people didn t understand her or spoke in different languages. Eating disorders are abnormal and serious disturbances in one s eating habits caused by many factors. Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are two well known eating disorders. The causes of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are difficult to understand but there are a lot of factors that play a role in the development of them. Females are more likely to develop an eating disorder and heightened concern about weight than males. One of the reasons why is because girls are convinced that their appearances is the most important way of defining themselves. The media and the society takes part in why girls believe this. Both affect the way girls view themselves and their eating habits. Anorexia nervosa is a disorder characterized by a large weight loss, a fear of weight gain, and faulty eating patterns. (Ph.D., P. Richard Herrnstein and Charles Murray defend the theory of genetic determinism in The Bell Curve: Intelligence and Class Structure in American Life, which was published ten years ago. Their book is one of the most widely referenced works regarding the theory that intelligence is inherited. The authors claim that the social order mirrors natural selection, wherein the genetically superior or more intelligent human rises to the top. Of course this means that the lower class, predominantly blacks, are represented as genetically inferior (xxi xxiii). The authors claim that ethnic differences in cognitive ability are neither surprising nor in doubt (269) and attribute the inequality of life among Americans to inherent differences between races in intelligence (127). Their argument rests on the assertion that intelligence is both inheritable and immutable and is supported by intelligence test scores. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These processes occur when ribosomes and RNA leave the nucleus and attach to the RER and begin to synthesise proteins. Before moving on any required modifications to newly formed proteins are made. These proteins can then pass through the translocon and into the lumen where they undergo quality control (British Society for Cell Biology, 2017a). From there can be transported to different parts of the RER and eventually to other organelles that require them such as mitochondria (Kaiser, 2007). This creates all the proteins that the cell and living organism need to function. These vary in type and function from enzymes, used in all chemical reactions within the organism, to somewhat simpler proteins such as hormones that organisms used to regulate their functions (Wilson, 2015). The transportation network the ERs create is also vital in ensuring that all other organelles function ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Learning and Change in Organizations Learning and Change in Organizations We live in a dynamic world with constantly varying conditions and aspects that influence how we make business operations and manage resources. The varying conditions in different circumstances require a level of understanding that is made possible through learning. This essentially means that learning consistent with the varying condition is in order to stay in touch and articulate matters appropriately. Business operations cannot be expected to carry on in the similar ways as in the past with no considerations of what is happening in the modern world (Pless, 2007). Learning is a process of discovery that generates new understanding about ourselves and the world around us. Strategic learning is organizational learning that improves the strategic capability of the organization and changes the basic assumptions underlying the stable generation mechanism that structures the strategic behavior design process. Organizations have various levels of knowledge and learn at all levels (Stein Nelson, 2003). The levels of organizational learning interact, making higher order learning such as strategic learning problematic. Change resulting from learning need not be visibly behavioral. Learning may result in new and significant insights and awareness that dictate no behavioral change. In this sense the crucial element in learning is that the organism be consciously aware of differences and alternatives and have consciously chosen one of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Christians, there are certain doctrines that we believe in like the doctrine of the Bible or the doctrine of the church. From the WCS statement of faith, I chose three statements to interview my pastor about. The first one I choose stated that: We believe in the present indwelling ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose intercessory and sanctifying work continually renews the Christian and enables him to live a godly life in conformity with the Scripture. This is not entirely true, yes SOdom and Gamosahr was a very very sinful place but it was destroyed because God could not find one righteous person. What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare[e] the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right? • 36. Essay on Ancient Rome and Cleopatra Cleopatra Read the following passage carefully at least twice. What does it tell us about Plutarch s view of the relationship between Antony and Cleopatra? For Plutarch peoples actions, however trite, were great indications of a person s moral character (Plutarch, 1914, p. 225). We can, therefore, assume that Plutarch would have placed great importance on the everyday activities of Cleopatra and Antony in reflecting the character of their relationship. Plutarch wrote 150 years after the events of Cleopatra and Antony and was therefore heavily influenced by Roman views of, not only, the couple themselves but also by Roman s understanding and expectations of relationships, gender and race. Plutarch highlights the inseparability of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So in Plutarch s eyes, Antony has failed to live up to his male role within the relationship. Roman s believed that A man s whole being is moulded by the habits of his daily life (Moohan, 2008. p. 27). To Plutarch, Antony s activities such as fishing indicates Antony s failure to live up to his honorable rank as a Roman general. He is clearly inferior to the man he once was when he hunted cities, realms, and continents (Plutarch, in AA100 Assignment Booklet, 2011, p.17). At times, Plutarch shows more concern with Antony s behaviour than Cleopatra s. Antony s actions are described as mad follies and, although Cleopatra participates, it is Antony s actions that lack reason, not hers (Plutarch, in AA100 Assignment Booklet, 2011, p.17). Romans viewed Egyptian way of life as inferior and barbaric compared to the civility of Roman culture as was reiterated by many Roman historians such as Cassius Dio (Moohan, 2008. p. 27). Therefore, Plutarch is more concerned with Antony s actions as he expects more from a Roman man. As a woman and an Egyptian, Plutarch does not have such high expectations of Cleopatra hence why he is less focussed on her. This passage underlines the relationship s negative influence on Antony and highlights the power dynamics of the relationship. Cleopatra is in control and outwits Antony, whereas he is powerless and idiotic. Plutarch makes sense of Antony s behaviour with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Honor And Glory In The Iliad, By Homer The Iliad, by Homer, is an epic poem that portrays a 9 year war between the Trojans and the Greeks. The objective of the war was to retrieve Helen, the wife of Menelaus, from Paris, a Trojan prince, but it resulted in a brutal, prolonged battle. The Iliad begins with the ire of Achilles who decides to sit out of the 9 year war because he is unwilling to fight for the Agamemnon any further, as Agamemnon is, in the eyes of Achilles, a coward who is unwilling to fight his own war. In the Greek world Honor and Glory were essential elements in defining the worthiness of a man. Honor took form in taking the reputation of another, and Glory took form in recognition of an accolade. Hence, In The Iliad, Homer degrades the ideology of Honor and Glory through Achilles rejection to participate in the war. In The Iliad, the tenet of Honor, by the recognition of accomplishments, in the Greek world is shown through the conversations between Glaucus and Sarpedon about the 9 year war. In book 12, Sarpedon attempts to convince Glaucus to fighting the Greeks by saying, But as it is, death is everywhere, in more shapes than we can count, and since no mortal is immune or can escape, Let us go forward either to give to another man or to get glory from him (12.338 342). • 41. Reflection About Living With God The book is about living with God, instead of living over, under, for, or from him. It talks about how important it is to be aware of how we think about God and our relationship with him. I appreciate this book a lot because the day I accepted Christ was when I finally understood that everything he did wasn t to get me a get out of hell free card, it was to be able to spend the rest of this life drawing me closer to him and to spend eternity with him. In that regard, the first part of the book was about what I expected, but as I was surprised, encouraged, and challenged as I got further into the book. The first point that stood out to me was the way we assign the way we value effectiveness to God; we assume that he gauges success the same way we do. I love the way the author presented the story of Moses striking the rock in the light of him doing only what he knew had worked in the past. He followed a formula; and yes, he was effective, but he was not faithful or obedient. It is possible to succeed without being in relationship with God. Along the same lines, one of the most helpful ways I ve heard this concept presented is from Moses initial reaction with God; God finding Moses and arguing back and forth with him while Moses makes excuse after excuse about everything he can t do. God is not a God of efficiency. What would have been efficient is snapping his fingers and freeing all the Israelite slaves from their captors in Egypt. But he chose to work through Moses; ...
