State of Nature and Social Contract
Hobbes and Locke are the founders of social contract theory, Hobbes Leviathan was the first
political philosophy to discuss social contract theory and the state of nature followed by John
Locke s Second Treatise of Government, both of their theories are distinct form each other but
yet related. Hobbes and lock are both considered the first classical liberals, they differed from
other classical philosophers because of their individualistic society, rather than a communal society
that promotes the moral way to live one s life. According to classical liberalism the government
should not promote morality, rather to only protect people s rights to pursue their desires. They
both believed that man was born free and equal, and has the right to choose who governs them.
Hobbes believed in a minimalist government that promotes the rights of individuals to life and
freedom of movements, while Locke also believes in an even more limited government that
promotes life liberty and property. Lock and Hobbes differ in their conception of social contractbut
they both agreed on the central idea that in the state of nature people would willingly come
together to form a state , but they disagreed over the government s extent to implement order and
liberty. Hobbes saw the sovereign as a beneficiary in a mutual agreement between the citizens,
while Locke believed the sovereign himself is a party to the contract. Hobbes believed that the
government must be very strong, to keep order and set

Relationship Between Macroeconomics And Trade Policy
Economists today think that factor endowments matter, but that there are also other new yet
important influences on trade patterns. The balance of payments includes the payments made for
net exports as well as financial transfers. A trade deficit must be balanced with foreign
investments, declines in reserves, or increased debt; likewise, a trade surplus will be balanced out
with financial outflows or increased reserves. However, a country may not be able to take full
advantage of its external economic opportunities unless its internal domestic economic organization
is strengthened and improved. William Cline talks about the relationship between macroeconomics
and trade policy, pointing out that the 1930s provided a classic case of mutually reinforcing
interaction between economic downturn and protection (123). One alternative to US external
adjustment would be the import surcharge in 1971, but it would let foreign countries immediately
retaliate with their own special protection against US goods. Similarly, during the recession in
1980s, loose fiscal and tight monetary mismatch and failure to recognize the importance of
avoiding sharp dollar appreciation were the central mistakes, which lead to huge trade deficit
(126). In the absence of forceful correction of US fiscal deficits and some additional decline in the
dollar, external deficits would widen even more. Therefore, proper fiscal, exchange rate, and
international coordination policies are needed to help avoid

Brick Making Industry in Bangladesh
Present day Status
Brick making is indispensable for the economy of Bangladesh. Though not formally recognized as
an industry, brick making is a significant economic activity in Bangladesh. The country s
overwhelming dependence on bricks is due to its lack of stones in any sizable quantity or other
alternative building materials at comparable cost.

Most kiln operators have a weak financial base, with limited or no access to bank financing.
Because brick making is not formally recognized as an industry, kiln owners cannot avail
themselves of the concessional loan windows of financial institutions for the SMEs. In addition,
most kilns are established on rented lowlands that cannot be used as collateral to access finance. As
a result, only short term working capital financing is available to kiln owners.
Impacts of Brick Making Industry
Brick production is one of the most environmentally and socially damaging activity in the industrial
sector. Despite the industry contributing to almost 1% of the GDP, the industry delivers more
social costs and benefits and thus major reforms are required in this sector if the industry is to be
brought at an advantageous level.
Environmental Impacts
The main environmental impacts of operating brick kilns, which are particularly evident for the
FCKs, are as follows:
Health. Pollutants from brick kilns contribute to health problems of the exposed population.
These include: (i) Adult mortality from cardiopulmonary diseases and lung cancer caused by
long term exposure (Pope et al. 2002); (ii) Infant and child mortality from respiratory diseases
caused by short term exposure (Ostro 2004); and (iii) All age morbidity resulting from PM10
exposure (Ostro 1994; Abbey et al. 1995).

Analyzing The Efficacy Of Cyclical. Electrical Stimulation...
E wiki 1 This article, published in the journal of physiotherapy examines the efficacy of cyclical
electrical stimulation through a meta analysis of data extracted from 16 articles. The aim of using
cyclical electrical stimulation is to increase the number of motor units and/or cross sectional area
of muscle activated during movement to increase strength (Nascimento et al. 2014). The article is
highly relevant to the physiotherapy field, ultimately looking to improve the quality of treatment
available to patients. The Introduction is well written and clearly outlines the research questions
in focus, thus giving context to further explore ideas. The research methods used in this article
were of high standard, using several refinement processes to ensure data used was valid. For
instance, Physiotherapy Evidence Database scores (score from 0 to 10) ensured the use of quality
papers (Nascimento et al. 2014). The results section is split into various subheadings which was
difficult to follow at times. However, all data is summarised sufficiently with reasoning provided
and referenced. The article effectively provides evidence that cyclical electrical stimulation can
increase strength, however due to there being limited studies available, two of the research
questions were unanswered stating there are insufficient data to provide evidence (Nascimento et
al. 2014, p. 29). Outlining the need for further research. The discussion summarises all of the data in

Boston Celtics Case Study Essay
The Boston Celtics seem to be not done yet looking for available superstars that they can add to
their roster. In the latest trade rumor, they seem to be still not satisfied with their current lineup
and said to be moving to acquire the services of Paul George from the Indiana Pacers in exchange
for 3 players.
The Celtics, who is one of the busiest team in the trade market during the offseason, are still hoping
to land another superstar that could help them contend with other teams. Though they got one of
the biggest acquisition last summer in Al Horford, the team looks to be restless trying to come up a
formidable lineup.
And with many tradeable assets at their disposal, rumors are saying that the Celtics could make a
run to get George from the Pacers. A proposed deal is suggesting that the Boston Celticswill send
Jae Crowder, Amir Johnson, Kelly Olynyk plus four future draft picks to the Indiana Pacers for
Paul George. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Relationship Between White And White Populations
As the three largest cities in the United States, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago are also
epicenters of precipitous segregation. Even with the passage of federal law to curtail segregation
and promote more integrated communities, conditions have only improved minimally if at all
between 1980 and 2000. In New York, the indices of dissimilarity between different races have
remained constant over this time period. Between white and black populations, for example, the
index of dissimilarity only ranges between 82.8 and 83.5. This signifies very minute and
insignificant changes within a 20 year period, and such changes even indicate worsening
conditions. Similarly, when using this index to examine the relationship between whites and
Hispanics, segregation has increased by three percentage points between 1980 and 2000.
Therefore, New York is an urban center that has seen relatively unchanged racial segregation, and
any changes mainly reveal exacerbated conditions. Los Angeles, on the other hand, seems to show
greater changes in dissimilarity among different races. When considering segregation between
black and white populations, the index of dissimilarity decreased from 85 in 1980 to 71.5 in 2000.
This is significantly greater than the fractional change observed in New York City. Likewise,
dissimilarity between whites and Asians has decreased from 51.7 to 44.9. Yet, Los Angeles shares
one similar trend with New York. From 1980 to 2000, the index of segregation between

My Purpose Of School
At some point in our lives we have all asked the question What is the purpose of school? Why
must I learn this? . Some say school is simply preparation for employment and for the rest of our
lives. I enjoy school; however, I have always found it to be rather difficult and pointless being in
the French immersion stream and this was due to the lack of help I received from my mother and
father unlike many of my peers whose parents attended universityand spoke both English and
French fluently. Everyone faces a variety of challenges and I have always tried my hardest to do
my best and overcome any challenges I face in order to succeed as well as make myself and my
parents proud. In elementary school, I discovered my weakness for French. It was the subject I
abhorred; reading, spelling and grammar were concepts I could not grasp. As a result of my
academic struggles, I would often become frustrated and cry. Perhaps what had stained my
academic experience the most was in sixth grade, our teacher invented a game called Autour du
monde A game where we would go around the class answering grammar questions that were
given to us with the objective of improving our French. I waited in vain for my turn to be over,
only then to be made fun of by my teacher and peers when I couldn t conjugate a verb in passГ©
compose. It was humiliating that my teacher who was supposed to support and inspire me to do
my best, was instead putting me down in front of all my peers. My parents had

Iron Jawed Angels
Title: Summary, Reaction, and Analysis Paper #1: Iron Jawed Angels Iron Jawed Angels is a story
of two women fighting for women s rights. They led the struggle for the passage of the 19th
amendment to the constitution which gave women the right to vote. These two women along with
others petitioned, campaigned, and picketed to publicize the issue. After being arrested for traffic
violations a group of women spent time in Occoquan Workhouse. Here they went on a hunger
strike to protest being imprisoned for demanding equal voting rights. After not eating the prisoners
had to be force fed, here they earned the nickname iron jawed angels. This became a headline in the

By women achieving more freedom and rights their views, their opinions, and ideas can be
expressed. It is more acceptable for women to in general have an opinion after the 19th
amendment was passed. Iron Jawed Angels, an inspirational story that withholds perhaps one of
the most important movements in time. Until I viewed this movie I did not fully comprehend
the depths of the struggles of the woman s suffrage movement. This movie contains a powerful
message about what women can do using their rights and skills in organizational leadership.
Determination which one woman carried, and many supported allowed a national change to
take place. Before watching this movie I had heard of Susan B. Anthony, but never of Alice Paul
or the other suffragists. I also never realized how hard it was for a woman to get ready; we take
our pre bought makeup for much granted. The parade that takes place is an extremely important
event. It shows the many different types of women and how far they ve come. It also shows how
many people were interested in the topic that no one showed up to the see Woodrow Wilson,
because everyone was at the parade. Not alone his lack of knowledge of the subject, since he himself
did not attend. It shows the intense anger that people felt against this issue, and how the
government failed to offer protection during the parade; that men were

Mistake of Fact Mistake of fact can be further divided as bilateral and unilateral mistake.
a)Bilateral Mistake: According to Section 20 where both the parties to an agreement are under a

Both the parties must be under a mistake
Mistake must relate to some fact and not to judgement or opinion etc.
The fact must be essential to the agreement
Various cases that fall under bilateral mistake are as

and thinking about life, whereas the rest of society is playing Obstacle Golf. His smart and shy
ways earn him an odd place in society, where he is not accepted by the community. When Lenina

therefore he will definitely be impacted by the statement. The ad also points out that when
choosing the Slough Crematorium you will be a part of a community. Bernard will finally be
united with a group that accepts him and has a common achievement. Another emotion that will
stimulate Bernard is his love of nature. The ad features vibrant colors and picturesque scenes
which would appeal to his taste. As Bernard explains, I want to look at the sea in peace...one can

Bernard proposed to view the Lake District with Lenina. This shows how much more he values
being alone with nature and his own thoughts. Statistics and the advertising method of logos fill
the ad for the crematorium. The ad asks the reader to help society reach 400 tons of Phosphorus,
following the 266,666 citizens that already contributed. The statistics appeal to logic of a human

Money Makes The World Go Around By Barbara Garson Summary
In the 19th and early 20th century, the world s economies grew interconnected and entangled as
trade, capital, investment, migration and technology thrived. This international integration forms
the basis for globalization and arises from exchange and interbreeding of perspectives, ideas and
aspects of culture. This modern economic and global point of view posits that globalization
increases trade, raises wages, heightens living standards, and betters the market discipline. With its
roots in free market capitalism, the critics of this perspective declare globalization to be
detrimental to the vast majority of the working class and poor since most of the labor and work

The IMF did provide relief but at the expense of the food subsidies which the Thai rely on to

Marine View With A Sunset
The painting marine view with a sunset , also known as Argenteuil basin at sunset , was created by
Claude Monet in 1875, when he lived in Argenteuil, France. During that period, Monet
experimented new painting concepts and techniques. In order to create dynamic natural landscapes,
he tried to concern more about compositional elements, such as position of forms and focal point.
And this paintingprovides a special color combination. Monet depicted a warm sunset over the river
surrounding by clouds, in which the spreading orange sunset, cloudy blue sky and dark green bush
blended together. This painting gives a strong settled background with pleasure boating scene.

He gave us a strike contrast, of subject, of scale, of hue and of course of facture. When the viewer
look at the upper part of this image, they will be attracted by a marvelous warm sunset and
shocked by how Monet depicted the fleet sunset, the moment that the sun went down to the
skyline. It is undeniable that the whole scene is a harmony of natural color. The viewers could
roughly see the transition of warm color, in which the purple light at the very edge slowly change
to light orange in the central point. All the movements of the color are captured by Monet in a
short period of time, which is the goal of impressionist. Meanwhile, people could even see several
details that dark color strokes jump over the light color strokes, in which illustrates the different
thickness of clouds in the sky. In the Monet s Impression sunrise, everything look serine and he
didn t spend much time on shape the clouds. He used long thick stroke with mixing color to fill
the sky to create a foggy morning, in which people can barely identify the depth of the sky.
However, in the marine view with sunset , which was drawn at a clear nightfall, the clouds are
pretty dynamic. There are different length and thickness of brush strokes on this painting. At the top
left of the sky, the overlapping purple strokes are intensive, which shows how the sunlight shoots
through the cloud and reflects on the sky. And these curving grey strokes around the warm color

Similarities and Differences amongst Multiple Sclerosis...
There are differences and similarities between multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy. Multiple
sclerosis is understood to be an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system.
However, muscular dystrophy is a genetic disorder that affects the peripheral nervous system.
Multiple sclerosis is seen as progressing asymmetrically from the loss of myelin. Likewise,
muscular dystrophypresents with a symmetrical wasting of the muscle and distribution of weakness.
Muscular dystrophy is a group of similar conditions that affect the voluntary muscles. Multiple
sclerosis is often diagnosed in the late twenties while muscular dystrophy offsets in young and
adolescent aged individuals.
Multiple Sclerosis occurs as a result of demyelination of the axons within the central nervous system
and neuronal loss.1 The immune system produces antibodies that attack oligodendrocytes. When
the oligodendrocytes are destroyed, they produce patches of demyelination referred to as plaques.2
(p.41) These plaques are found in the white matter of the central nervous system. With the loss of
myelination of neurons, the transmission of signals may become slowed or blocked.2(p.41)
Communication between the brain, spinal cord, and other areas of the body are hindered.3 Multiple
sclerosis may result in the deterioration of the myelin surrounding the nerves, and also the nerves
themselves. Unfortunately, this disease process is irreversible, incurable and often debilitating.3

Essay on Discourse in A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man
Authoritative Discourse in A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man
In James Joyce s A Portrait of An Artist As A Young Man, the main character, Stephen Dedalus,
struggles between his natural instincts, or what Bakhtin calls the internally persuasive discourse
that [is not] backed up by [an] authority at all , and his learned response, reinforced by the
authoritative discourse of religion. To Stephen s internally persuasive discourse , his natural sex
drive is not wrong . It is only after he succumbs to the authoritative discourse of religion that he
learns that such a natural human drive is bad . Thus, he learns that it is wrong to succumb to sex:
he does not think that it is bad on his own. In this case, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This struggle also causes Stephen to realize the futility of the fight between his internally persuasive
discourse of natural drives and the authoritative discourse of religion. His awareness of being
fallible to his sense of touch causes Stephen to realize that his natural drives take a stronger hold of
him than do the constraining norms of religion.
But it was to the mortification of touch that he brought the most assiduous ingenuity of
inventiveness (163).
It is the most difficult task for Stephen to deny his sense of touch. His sense of touch requires
him to come up with the most [...] inventiveness . This is shown in Stephen s forcing himself to
endure the raw morning wind on his way to the Mass: the cold air scorches him and, thus, by
feeling the raw air, Stephen wishes he did not have to feel at all. He also punishes himself for such
a strong sense of touch when he attempts to sleep without movement in his bed. It is not surprising,
however, that Stephen does these masochistic things to himself: he does it because he has been
taught that any expression of a natural inclination is labeled wrong by the society, or by the
authoritative discourse of religion. By restricting his senses, Stephen does not only lose his identity,
since his reliance on his senses constructs his personality, but he also imprisons himself in a world,
which he needs eventually to escape.

an outsized customer provides efficiencies to the vendor. Lower dealings prices (one invoice, one

Nathaniel Hawthorne And Edgar Allen Poe
Nathanial Hawthorne and Edgar Allen Poe are inextricably connected because of their
methodology of works. These two authors of Dark Romanticism, delve into in their writings of
pensive mystery and sorrowful characteristics of America s Puritan thought. Both Hawthorne
and Poe apprehend the impact of transgression and evil on humanity. The Birthmark and Ligeia
both recognize that a yearning for perfection can generate a dark obsession that directs the heart
and will of man. The Birthmark is a tale of a youthful woman, Georgina, who has a hand shaped
mark upon her cheek and has been convinced by her husband to get the birthmark removed
because in his eyes it limits her perfection. She feels the pressure from her husband to get it
removed so she will feel accepted by him. Ligeia is a narrative of a young bride, Rowena, who is
intended to be the successor of her husband s deceased wife, but falls far short of the man s ideal
image of his first wife. Jeffrey Howard s analysis of Nathaniel Hawthornes The Birth Mark and
Jeffrey Howard s review Unburying the Wife: A Reflection Upon the Female Uncanny in Poe s

Max Weber s Influence On The Areas Of Individual Autonomy...
Max Weber was a German sociologist and philosopher who contributed majorly to certain
ideologies in society most especially regarding reason/rationality in relation to capitalism and how
it has shaped our present society from replying on traditional methods to becoming more modern
and advanced but not without its flaws. Weber main point of focus was on the individual
intertwined with culture and the notion of the ideal type , he was also concerned about
rationalization of the society. Max Weberaddressed different themes in his life time but this essay
will focus primarily on reason/rationalitycoupled with capitalism and its underlying effect in the
areas of individual autonomy and freedom. According to Max Weber reason is the ability of the
mind by a means of logic to comprehend, and achieve knowledge (Weber. 1905), the concept of
reason is sometimes viewed as rationality/rationalization because rationality can be viewed as the
state of being reasonable, based on facts or reason. Rationality implies the conformity of one s
beliefs/actions with one s reasons to believe/act; in modern society reason is self consciously done
which in turn has the ability to switch beliefs, religion, and institutions. With this change there is
room for freedom/autonomy and individualism, which rationalization depends on. According to
Weber rationalization played a key role in societal advancement most especially reliving people
from restrictive and irrational social laws (Weber.

Saint Augustine, also known as Augustine of Hippo, was born on 354 AD in a North African
county in present day Algeria. Throughout of his life, Augustine has endured a lot of hard ships
and lessons that he wanted to share with others. He decided in 397 AD to compose an
autobiographical book confessing and recounting moments in his life. Confessions by Saint
Augustine are a 13 book series comprised of Augustine s life and how he became to be one of the
most important priests during his time.
During Book I, Augustine recalls his childhood and how it was like growing up and turning into a
young man. He begins his book in an opening prayer, praising his lord and raises the question how
can we see God if we do not know who he is. He mentions how anything that exists and creation
contains God because he created the Earth. This answers to the question answers how Augustine
found God in a sense that, he saw others around him and believed that God was present in
everything he has done. An example given in his book is how the comforts of human milk were
waiting for him, but God gave him the milk in his mother s breast to nourish him. This is in
accordance to the plan of creation.
He later recalls his and other babies experience with crying and pouting for the milk. Augustine
believes that babies are not innocent because the get jealous and sin. The only innocent feature on

Your skin is the largest and fastest growing organ that the human body has. The skin plays several
very important roles such as keeping bacteria from entering into the body and by also keeping the
organs inside. The skin consist of three different layers; the epidermis is the first outer most layer,
the dermis the middle layer and the subcutaneous which is the third and inner most layer. Each of
these three layers preform very different jobs in keeping you healthy. The epidermis is the outer

Microscopy allows one to view samples and objects that cannot be seen with the human eye. With
all the modern techniques used in the biology field today, microscopy is one of the most important
one that allows us to see a world beyond what our eyes limits us too. The majority of both
organisms that are helpful and harmful are too small to be seen with the human eye, and without

Fluorescence microscopy uses ultraviolet light as its light source that allows the resolution of the
object to increase. Fluorescence microscopy contains a barrier filter that reduces any undesired
stray of light other than the emission wavelength that might reach the observers eye. Light emitted
by the specimen s fluorophore for viewing is focused and magnified by the objective lens.
Electron microscopy uses an electron beam with a far smaller wavelength than Optical
microscopy that results in better resolution one can achieve. This is due to the fact that as
wavelength increases, resolution decreases. Electron microscopy allows for a resolution on the
order of 1000 times greater than can be achieved with light microscopy. There are two types of
Electron microscopy: Transmission and Scanning electron microscopy. Transmission electron
microscopy (TEM) is similar to light microscopy by sending an electron beam through a very
slice thin of specimen. TEM uses an electromagnet, a condenser lens, to focus a stream of
electrons onto a specimen that produces images of internal structures in 2 D slices of a specimen.
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) produces 3 D image of the external structure of a specimen
by observing the surface of unsectioned samples. This is possible through the specimen being
lightly coated with a heavy metal that is constantly scanned by a stream of electrons to produce the

The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas Literary Criticism Essay
In the story Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and The Ones Who Walk Away from
Omelas by Ursula K. Le Guin, the authors have created characters who symbolize themselves.
Huxley s and Le Guin s characters have minds that readers can t understand or comprehend their
intentions. Even though their stories were written during two different time periods, you can still
see how they use optimism to create their literature. By applying a psychoanalytical criticism,
readers can compare the characters in Brave New Worldand The Ones Who Walk Away From
Omelas and see how they express their fears and emotions, how they reflect on themselves, and
how they act or don t act on their desires.
Expressing feeling is a way that Huxley s and Le Guin s stories are compared to show how
emotions give their characters human emotions to express their differences from other characters.
Huxley s book Brave New World has many characters that express many emotions, but one
character named John the savage, a character who had it harder than anyone in the book.
Huxley s writes John the savage as a character that is scared to show his emotions, battles to keep
lust and love separate, to understand what his personal feelings are. Bound by strong vows that
had never been pronounced, obedient to laws that had long since ceased to run, he sat averted and

The Conversion Of Constantine s Conversion Essay
The Conversion of Constantine Constantine was the first Roman Emperor to convert to
Christianity. He started his reign in 306 AD. During this time the Roman Empire was still
composed mainly of pagans. Although the population of Christians was on the rise, in the
beginning of the fourth century Christians made up only 10 percent of the population in the Roman
Empire. There were approximately five million Christian in the Roman Empire meaning that
they were still the minority (Waldron). His conversion was an important turning point not only
for Christians but also for the Roman Empire as a whole. Although most Romans still believed
in Greco Roman religions, Constantine decided to become a Christian because he knew that it
would be beneficial for his role as emperor. His conversion was prompted by his desire to end the
tetrarchy structure of he Roman Empire and to become the sole ruler of the Roman Empire. The
story of Constantine s conversion was told through Eucbuius of Caersera. His recount of the story
is skewed by his bias. In order to show a more holistic view of the story I will be comparing his
account to the account of Andreas. Constantine had other motives for converting to Christianitysuch
as AlfoМ€ldi. Constantine s decision to become a Christian was influenced by numerous external
factors. Constantine emulated the monotheistic nature of Christianity and used it as the foundation
of his reign and used Christianity to advance his political agenda. When

Some ethical issues of concern in the dental chair would be things like patient autonomy or over

Most of the time the decision is made to oblige the patient. I have only mentioned a couple issues

patients come in who need treatment that is way past our scope of practice. What do we do?
We do what we can for them, that is within our scope of practice, and refer them out. However, I
ve heard plenty of stories from our instructors dealing with dentists who will perform oral
surgery and even orthodontics when they are not specialized in it. Is it legal? Actually, yes it is.
All dentists are provided with training in these areas while in school. The real question is: is it
ethical? Personally I would say no, because these dentists are not on the profession skill level of
a dentist who has specialized in that area. But, this does happen very often. I ve had time studying
some case studies in order to figure out what my ethical beliefs are in order to better place myself
when I graduate. Thanks to the American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA), we are provided

I continued my passion for research in the neuroscience laboratory of Dr. Raimi Quiton in the
Psychology Department of the Univeristy of Maryland, Baltimore County UMBC . Through this
lab I had the opportunity to investigate the effect of biopsychosocial factors on human pain
modulation. Implications of this study stretch to health care and treatment for individuals within
diverse groups. With the right application, it can also help to decrease the stereotypes imposed
upon certain patient groups when given pain treatment. These outcomes, though far away at this
point, have allowed me to be a part of an experience that speaks to my ambition of effecting social
change through research. Despite this experience being a world away from the cell culture of the
previous summer, I became HIPAA certified, ethics trained, and became trained for human pain
testing. In addition to conducting thermal and pressurized pain experiments, I also managed
projects within the lab, collected and analyzed data, planned experiments, and trained new research
assistants. During extended periods when my mentor and principle investigator were away on

Technology Changed Technology
Technology has changed greatly in the last 100 years. To help me understand how technology
has changed, I interviewed my grandmother about the changes in her lifetime. Throughout her
life, she has witnessed many technological changes around the world. One change that has
occurred in her lifetime is the color TV. When she was born, color TVs existed, however, none
of the channels broadcasted in color. It was until she was in her 20s when stations began to
transition into color television. She also told me that when she was younger, they would find
out the news through newspapers a day or two after the event occurred. However, today we can
hit a button on our phones and we ll receive notifications moments after an event has occurred.
Lastly, she told me about the first cell phones. She said that the first cell phones were called
Brick Phones because they were the size of brick. However, cell phones today are much smaller,
and can fit into your pocket. After talking to her about some changes in her life, I asked her how
she felt about changes in technology. She said, I m all for progress in technology. However,
sometimes it can be very scary because it feels like it s of of your control. For example with
computers, they can have security safeguards, but hackers keep getting smarter and can access our
computer easily. I do though like the progress with regards to safer cars, better appliances, and
especially better medical technology for our health care. Based

Personal Reconciliation In Atonement
Centering around the theme of personal reconciliation, Ian McEwan s metafictional novel
Atonement features a young, naС—ve English writer who realizes her mistakes and false
accusations that leads to a life long ordeal for many of her close family members. Set during the
era of the Second World War, the creativity of Briony Tallis affects her older sister, Cecilia, and
the Tallis Estate gardener, Robbie, after falsely accusing him of raping her cousin, Lola. In the
beginning of the novel, the author displays Briony as a selfish and imprudent girl; however, she
becomes aware of her childhood fantasies and promises to grow more mature along with her way of
writing. Although she attempts to turn into a responsible young woman, she still struggles... Show

Shortly after the fountain scene, the narrator claims, Briony had her first, weak intimation that
for her now it could no longer be fairy tale castles and princesses, but the strangeness of the here
and now, of what passed between people (37). At that moment, young Briony realizes that her
fictional world seems childish and that she must face reality after experiencing what happened
between her sister and Robbie. Before, Briony believed that Robbie is a kind, young man,
working on their estate; nonetheless, her creativity changes her perspective on who Robbie really
is as she claims that he could be a possible maniac. After experiencing the scene in the fountain and
the delay of the play, Briony sets out to the gardens and begins to thrash at the nettles in their
estate. McEwan states, Flaying the nettles was becoming a self purification, and it was childhood
she set about now, having no further need for it (70). Although Briony tries to be more mature by
criticizing her own childish ways, she only transforms into a more irritating, childlike, young girl
who frustratingly takes out her anger by violently thrashing at nettles. At the end of the first part of
the novel, the imaginative dreamer still struggles to grasp onto adulthood as her imprudence leads

Argumentative Essay On White People
We live in a society where white people have the upper hand in almost every circumstance. It is
hard for most if not all white people to understand and comprehend this because privilege is hard
to see for those who were born with access to power and resources (Kendall 1). White people
aren t judged by the color of their skin or certain facial features they possess. Because of their
looks, people of color, specifically black people get shot in the back for walking down the street or
just simply fitting a description. Arab, middle eastern, and dark skinned south Asian people get
accused of being terrorists. White peopleget to parade around the streets in their pickup trucks
blasting Tim McGraw and their white hillbilly country music waving around multiple confederate
flags, armed with loaded weapons, and wearing white hooded masks that look like a dunce cap
covering their entire face which fits, because white people are a huge disappointment. And some
white people are still... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are white people who know what s happening and going on and say I hate being white and
I wish I wasn t white and whenever a white person says that, there s always a feeling of
discomfort. We don t need your pity or self hate against your race to make us feel better. White
people will be the ones to speak against racism but spit racism back in our faces. Then, it gets
worse as there are white people who are quick to say all lives matter in response to black lives

Parallelism In Psalm 1
Initially, Psalm 1 first begins with blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers (Psalm 1, New
International Version). Furthermore, after analyzing the passage I have determined the type of
Hebrew parallelism this passage exhibits is synthetic or formal parallelism. Therefore, synthetic
or formal parallelism is defined as nonparallel text, where the second line of the text contributes
to the first line (Tullock McEntire, 2012, p. 190). Consequently, the main theme of the passage is
to identify how the believers of the Lord blessed, or how to achieve divinity while avoiding the
doubters of God. Next, Psalm 1:5 reads therefore the wicked will not

With the matter of efficiency and proficiency, all organisations need their employees to be
working at an acceptable rate, otherwise, the company won t get their money s worth out of the
member of staff and we all know the old saying time is money don t we. Another way in which
employees at either Tesco or Sainsbury s can have an effect on company matters is by
presenting ideas to their superiors, by which they might agree, give a positive response and tell
their own superior; sometimes forgetting to mention it was someone else s idea depending on
how good the idea actually is and how much they care about personal gain. The other option they
have is to completely reject your ideas and thoughts; if this is the case then the best thing to do
would be to tell someone else about it (normally the person above your own superior) or to go
away and take what they said on board and improve your idea. 6.12 Suppliers: Most businesses
need a supplier of some sort, Tesco and Sainsbury s are no different. Tesco Plc are an extremely
large organisation, and therefore need to keep expenditure to a minimum, as if supplier costs get
too high then profit margins will undoubtedly decrease, meaning prices will have to go up in order
to retain a sustainable

Disability In Pirates Of The Caribbean
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World s End is a Disney film which made its cinema debut ten years
ago as the third installment of the five movie package which centers around Captain Jack
Sparrow and his swash buckling pirate hijinks all while being an alcoholic. This disability is
common for actors whom help reprise the role of these sinister pirates who once draped our seas
but it not the type of character that is usually focused on in a children s movie. This type of
disorder is usually not thought about in relationship to a disability but since it is listed as a

Fountain Hills Research Papers
What is Fountain Hills? What is Fountain Hills, Arizona? Underneath the surface of this quiet
town, there is an interesting history, an abundance of amenities, and a wealth of opportunity for
entertainment and experiences. The land that became Fountain Hills has an interesting past. In
the 1930 s, it was the privately owned, P Bar Ranch, and had a vague history. After changing
hands several times, it came into the possession of Robert P. McCulloch. Robert Paxton
McCulloch (May 11, 1911 February 25, 1977) was an entrepreneur and industrialist, who
graduated from Stanford University, and had a curious history of his own. He developed the one
man operated chainsaw, built three other communities, purchased the old London Bridge,
developed a centrifugal supercharger used in such iconic cars as the 55 Kaiser Manhattan, 57
Studebaker Golden Hawk, and the 57 Ford Thunderbird, and built several companies still active
today. McCulloch purchased the 45,000 acres of P Bar Ranch in 1960, and enlisted his friend
Charles Wood, Jr. to help him start a community there.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I grew up in New York State, home of the city that never sleeps. This state is known for
Manhattan or the Big Apple, but that is only one of New York s five boroughs. Where in New
York did I grow up? Well, in New York there is a quaint borough called Staten Island. It is in Staten
Island where I did just that. My birth took place in Manhattanand I have lived on Staten Island ever
since I had been released from the hospital where I was born in. Staten Island is a lesser known
part of New York State, filled with many parks. I live in Richmond County in Staten Island. I was
fortunate enough to grow up in a nice, safe neighborhood with plenty of children around my age to
play with. The children in my neighborhood became my first friends.

The Rich Brother By Tobias Wolff
Words in the English language can have numerous definitions and connotations; the term rich is
no different than the rest. The first definition most people think of when they hear the word rich
is having loads of money, which is exactly what Pete has in The Rich Brother by Tobias Wolff.
This definition of rich and the title of the story lead many readers to assume that Pete is rich and
his brother Donald is poor, but this is not necessarily the case. A person can also be rich because
they supply a large amount of something that is needed, such as love or forgiveness. After further
analysis and a different view of the definition of rich, it is discovered that Donald is in fact, the rich
brother, not the monetarily rich Pete. Pete may

Participative style is where the leader and the subordinates shares their views and opinions in
decision making process. This can be seen in Roger Eaton where he provides group of interactive
sessions and open conversations. This is to enhance open communication and give employees the
opportunity to express concerns and their ideas.
Comparison:
Steve Easterbrook, CEO of Mcdonald s, adopts the selling style. Steve believes in managing the
people in his company by using both directive and supportive behaviour. He displays his supportive
behaviour towards his employees by motivating them to further increase their self confidence level.
In addition to this, he also shows directive behaviour by paying attention to his employees and
make sure they carry out tasks correctly and under supervision.
Roger Eaton on the other hand adopts a participative style. He entrusts tasks to his employees and
involves them in decision making process for KFC and encourages them to delegate other
employees to get things done instead of him supervising everyone all the

Irish Potato Famine Essay
In the early 1800s life in Ireland wasn t easy, Irish citizens got by day to day by farming and
relying on the potato. The potato was their main source of food and money. With out the potato the
Irish would have nothing. No one was prepared for what was about to happen in 1845, the
beginning of the Great Irish PotatoFamine.
The Irish Potato Famine was the worst tragedy in the history of Ireland. The outcome of the famine
would result in hundreds of thousands dead, an failure of the economy in Ireland, and millions of
emigrants forced to leave their home and country just to try to survive. The famine would effect
countries other than Ireland as well. Some of these countries included England, America, Canada,

This resulted in more unsanitary conditions.
Eventually the federal government imported Indian corn from America to be distributed to the
most desperate people. Although it was for good intentions, it didn t comply with Irish
expectations for food. The corn was difficult to mill on the small number of mills in Ireland, it was
difficult to digest, and it was not very filling, leaving many Irish hungry. It eventually became
accepted and the Irish learned to deal with it.
In 1846 due to no effort to rid the infected potatoes of the previous year the new season provided
enough food to feed the country for only one month. This caused people to eat what ever they
could get their hands on. People ate dogs, horses, birds, mushrooms, roots, flowers, and anything
that was believed to have a nutritional value. Fish was a food that involved a risk to obtain due to
the rough Irish seas and rocky coast. Shellfish and seaweed were eaten but after many people died
from eating poisonous varieties of both.
Crime rates rose, and because of overcrowed prisons and expensive costs of keeping prisoners alive,
convicted prisoners were sent to Australia. This caused for people to break laws just to escape the
danger of living in Ireland.
Other diseases began such as the typhus fever, bacilli dysentery, ophthalmia, an

  • 2. State of Nature and Social Contract Hobbes and Locke are the founders of social contract theory, Hobbes Leviathan was the first political philosophy to discuss social contract theory and the state of nature followed by John Locke s Second Treatise of Government, both of their theories are distinct form each other but yet related. Hobbes and lock are both considered the first classical liberals, they differed from other classical philosophers because of their individualistic society, rather than a communal society that promotes the moral way to live one s life. According to classical liberalism the government should not promote morality, rather to only protect people s rights to pursue their desires. They both believed that man was born free and equal, and has the right to choose who governs them. Hobbes believed in a minimalist government that promotes the rights of individuals to life and freedom of movements, while Locke also believes in an even more limited government that promotes life liberty and property. Lock and Hobbes differ in their conception of social contractbut they both agreed on the central idea that in the state of nature people would willingly come together to form a state , but they disagreed over the government s extent to implement order and liberty. Hobbes saw the sovereign as a beneficiary in a mutual agreement between the citizens, while Locke believed the sovereign himself is a party to the contract. Hobbes believed that the government must be very strong, to keep order and set ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Relationship Between Macroeconomics And Trade Policy Economists today think that factor endowments matter, but that there are also other new yet important influences on trade patterns. The balance of payments includes the payments made for net exports as well as financial transfers. A trade deficit must be balanced with foreign investments, declines in reserves, or increased debt; likewise, a trade surplus will be balanced out with financial outflows or increased reserves. However, a country may not be able to take full advantage of its external economic opportunities unless its internal domestic economic organization is strengthened and improved. William Cline talks about the relationship between macroeconomics and trade policy, pointing out that the 1930s provided a classic case of mutually reinforcing interaction between economic downturn and protection (123). One alternative to US external adjustment would be the import surcharge in 1971, but it would let foreign countries immediately retaliate with their own special protection against US goods. Similarly, during the recession in 1980s, loose fiscal and tight monetary mismatch and failure to recognize the importance of avoiding sharp dollar appreciation were the central mistakes, which lead to huge trade deficit (126). In the absence of forceful correction of US fiscal deficits and some additional decline in the dollar, external deficits would widen even more. Therefore, proper fiscal, exchange rate, and international coordination policies are needed to help avoid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most kiln operators have a weak financial base, with limited or no access to bank financing. Because brick making is not formally recognized as an industry, kiln owners cannot avail themselves of the concessional loan windows of financial institutions for the SMEs. In addition, most kilns are established on rented lowlands that cannot be used as collateral to access finance. As a result, only short term working capital financing is available to kiln owners. Impacts of Brick Making Industry Brick production is one of the most environmentally and socially damaging activity in the industrial sector. Despite the industry contributing to almost 1% of the GDP, the industry delivers more social costs and benefits and thus major reforms are required in this sector if the industry is to be brought at an advantageous level. Environmental Impacts The main environmental impacts of operating brick kilns, which are particularly evident for the FCKs, are as follows: Health. Pollutants from brick kilns contribute to health problems of the exposed population. These include: (i) Adult mortality from cardiopulmonary diseases and lung cancer caused by long term exposure (Pope et al. 2002); (ii) Infant and child mortality from respiratory diseases caused by short term exposure (Ostro 2004); and (iii) All age morbidity resulting from PM10 exposure (Ostro 1994; Abbey et al. 1995). ... • 5. Analyzing The Efficacy Of Cyclical. Electrical Stimulation... E wiki 1 This article, published in the journal of physiotherapy examines the efficacy of cyclical electrical stimulation through a meta analysis of data extracted from 16 articles. The aim of using cyclical electrical stimulation is to increase the number of motor units and/or cross sectional area of muscle activated during movement to increase strength (Nascimento et al. 2014). The article is highly relevant to the physiotherapy field, ultimately looking to improve the quality of treatment available to patients. The Introduction is well written and clearly outlines the research questions in focus, thus giving context to further explore ideas. The research methods used in this article were of high standard, using several refinement processes to ensure data used was valid. For instance, Physiotherapy Evidence Database scores (score from 0 to 10) ensured the use of quality papers (Nascimento et al. 2014). The results section is split into various subheadings which was difficult to follow at times. However, all data is summarised sufficiently with reasoning provided and referenced. The article effectively provides evidence that cyclical electrical stimulation can increase strength, however due to there being limited studies available, two of the research questions were unanswered stating there are insufficient data to provide evidence (Nascimento et al. 2014, p. 29). Outlining the need for further research. The discussion summarises all of the data in an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the latest trade rumor, they seem to be still not satisfied with their current lineup and said to be moving to acquire the services of Paul George from the Indiana Pacers in exchange for 3 players. The Celtics, who is one of the busiest team in the trade market during the offseason, are still hoping to land another superstar that could help them contend with other teams. Though they got one of the biggest acquisition last summer in Al Horford, the team looks to be restless trying to come up a formidable lineup. And with many tradeable assets at their disposal, rumors are saying that the Celtics could make a run to get George from the Pacers. • 7. Relationship Between White And White Populations As the three largest cities in the United States, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago are also epicenters of precipitous segregation. Even with the passage of federal law to curtail segregation and promote more integrated communities, conditions have only improved minimally if at all between 1980 and 2000. In New York, the indices of dissimilarity between different races have remained constant over this time period. Between white and black populations, for example, the index of dissimilarity only ranges between 82.8 and 83.5. This signifies very minute and insignificant changes within a 20 year period, and such changes even indicate worsening conditions. Similarly, when using this index to examine the relationship between whites and Hispanics, segregation has increased by three percentage points between 1980 and 2000. Therefore, New York is an urban center that has seen relatively unchanged racial segregation, and any changes mainly reveal exacerbated conditions. Los Angeles, on the other hand, seems to show greater changes in dissimilarity among different races. When considering segregation between black and white populations, the index of dissimilarity decreased from 85 in 1980 to 71.5 in 2000. This is significantly greater than the fractional change observed in New York City. Likewise, dissimilarity between whites and Asians has decreased from 51.7 to 44.9. Yet, Los Angeles shares one similar trend with New York. From 1980 to 2000, the index of segregation between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. My Purpose Of School At some point in our lives we have all asked the question What is the purpose of school? Why must I learn this? . Some say school is simply preparation for employment and for the rest of our lives. I enjoy school; however, I have always found it to be rather difficult and pointless being in the French immersion stream and this was due to the lack of help I received from my mother and father unlike many of my peers whose parents attended universityand spoke both English and French fluently. Everyone faces a variety of challenges and I have always tried my hardest to do my best and overcome any challenges I face in order to succeed as well as make myself and my parents proud. In elementary school, I discovered my weakness for French. It was the subject I abhorred; reading, spelling and grammar were concepts I could not grasp. As a result of my academic struggles, I would often become frustrated and cry. Perhaps what had stained my academic experience the most was in sixth grade, our teacher invented a game called Autour du monde A game where we would go around the class answering grammar questions that were given to us with the objective of improving our French. I waited in vain for my turn to be over, only then to be made fun of by my teacher and peers when I couldn t conjugate a verb in passГ© compose. It was humiliating that my teacher who was supposed to support and inspire me to do my best, was instead putting me down in front of all my peers. My parents had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They led the struggle for the passage of the 19th amendment to the constitution which gave women the right to vote. These two women along with others petitioned, campaigned, and picketed to publicize the issue. After being arrested for traffic violations a group of women spent time in Occoquan Workhouse. Here they went on a hunger strike to protest being imprisoned for demanding equal voting rights. After not eating the prisoners had to be force fed, here they earned the nickname iron jawed angels. By women achieving more freedom and rights their views, their opinions, and ideas can be expressed. It is more acceptable for women to in general have an opinion after the 19th amendment was passed. Iron Jawed Angels, an inspirational story that withholds perhaps one of the most important movements in time. Until I viewed this movie I did not fully comprehend the depths of the struggles of the woman s suffrage movement. This movie contains a powerful message about what women can do using their rights and skills in organizational leadership. Determination which one woman carried, and many supported allowed a national change to take place. Before watching this movie I had heard of Susan B. Anthony, but never of Alice Paul or the other suffragists. I also never realized how hard it was for a woman to get ready; we take our pre bought makeup for much granted. The parade that takes place is an extremely important event. It shows the many different types of women and how far they ve come. It also shows how many people were interested in the topic that no one showed up to the see Woodrow Wilson, because everyone was at the parade. Not alone his lack of knowledge of the subject, since he himself did not attend. It shows the intense anger that people felt against this issue, and how the government failed to offer protection during the parade; that men were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His smart and shy ways earn him an odd place in society, where he is not accepted by the community. As Bernard explains, I want to look at the sea in peace...one can t even look with that beastly noise (Huxley 90). Instead of playing Electro Magnetic Golf, Bernard proposed to view the Lake District with Lenina. This shows how much more he values being alone with nature and his own thoughts. • 13. Money Makes The World Go Around By Barbara Garson Summary In the 19th and early 20th century, the world s economies grew interconnected and entangled as trade, capital, investment, migration and technology thrived. This international integration forms the basis for globalization and arises from exchange and interbreeding of perspectives, ideas and aspects of culture. This modern economic and global point of view posits that globalization increases trade, raises wages, heightens living standards, and betters the market discipline. With its roots in free market capitalism, the critics of this perspective declare globalization to be detrimental to the vast majority of the working class and poor since most of the labor and work goes to the lowest bidder; proper regulation and working conditions are often... If the economy of Thailand were left alone, given their own economic sovereignty rather than launching them in the vicious global market while being compared and linked to the titanic financial power of the dollar, their quaint agricultural and textile industry could have thrived and met the requirements to maintain their nation. The deeply rooted free market ideals of globalization forced the Thai baht to be overvalued. The wolf pack like instincts (bred by the greed and profit seeking nature of global capitalism) of the foreign investors let the baht to be over sold and the price of the currency to be driven down into obscurity. The global market capital perspective provides an insightful perspective as to why the Thai currency crash was so impactful to not just Bangkok, or Asia but the entire globe. During that period, Monet experimented new painting concepts and techniques. In order to create dynamic natural landscapes, he tried to concern more about compositional elements, such as position of forms and focal point. And this paintingprovides a special color combination. Monet depicted a warm sunset over the river surrounding by clouds, in which the spreading orange sunset, cloudy blue sky and dark green bush blended together. It is undeniable that the whole scene is a harmony of natural color. The viewers could roughly see the transition of warm color, in which the purple light at the very edge slowly change to light orange in the central point. All the movements of the color are captured by Monet in a short period of time, which is the goal of impressionist. Meanwhile, people could even see several details that dark color strokes jump over the light color strokes, in which illustrates the different thickness of clouds in the sky. In the Monet s Impression sunrise, everything look serine and he didn t spend much time on shape the clouds. He used long thick stroke with mixing color to fill the sky to create a foggy morning, in which people can barely identify the depth of the sky. However, in the marine view with sunset , which was drawn at a clear nightfall, the clouds are pretty dynamic. There are different length and thickness of brush strokes on this painting. Multiple sclerosis is understood to be an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system. However, muscular dystrophy is a genetic disorder that affects the peripheral nervous system. Multiple sclerosis is seen as progressing asymmetrically from the loss of myelin. Likewise, muscular dystrophypresents with a symmetrical wasting of the muscle and distribution of weakness. Multiple Sclerosis occurs as a result of demyelination of the axons within the central nervous system and neuronal loss.1 The immune system produces antibodies that attack oligodendrocytes. When the oligodendrocytes are destroyed, they produce patches of demyelination referred to as plaques.2 (p.41) These plaques are found in the white matter of the central nervous system. With the loss of myelination of neurons, the transmission of signals may become slowed or blocked.2(p.41) Communication between the brain, spinal cord, and other areas of the body are hindered.3 Multiple sclerosis may result in the deterioration of the myelin surrounding the nerves, and also the nerves themselves. This struggle also causes Stephen to realize the futility of the fight between his internally persuasive discourse of natural drives and the authoritative discourse of religion. His awareness of being fallible to his sense of touch causes Stephen to realize that his natural drives take a stronger hold of him than do the constraining norms of religion. But it was to the mortification of touch that he brought the most assiduous ingenuity of inventiveness (163). It is the most difficult task for Stephen to deny his sense of touch. His sense of touch requires him to come up with the most [...] inventiveness . This is shown in Stephen s forcing himself to endure the raw morning wind on his way to the Mass: the cold air scorches him and, thus, by feeling the raw air, Stephen wishes he did not have to feel at all. He also punishes himself for such a strong sense of touch when he attempts to sleep without movement in his bed. It is not surprising, however, that Stephen does these masochistic things to himself: he does it because he has been taught that any expression of a natural inclination is labeled wrong by the society, or by the authoritative discourse of religion. By restricting his senses, Stephen does not only lose his identity, since his reliance on his senses constructs his personality, but he also imprisons himself in a world, which he needs eventually to escape. • 37. Dental Ethical Issues In a lot of ways, ethics can be very opinionated. Sure, there are guidelines such as code of conduct, but, just like things such as religion, it can be based all in how you interpret it and how you apply it. Unfortunately, many bad things are done for the greater good. As dentistry is gearing more towards aesthetics, ethical issues have been becoming more on the raise than ever before. Some ethical issues of concern in the dental chair would be things like patient autonomy or over diagnosis/treatment. Now a days, more and more people have sought after that perfect hollywood smile. With this becoming in higher demand, restorations, such as veneers or crowns, are being used to cover up defects in the teeth rather than as a treatment to restore... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the time the decision is made to oblige the patient. I have only mentioned a couple issues here, but there are issues involving overtreatment for the gain of more money, under treatment, violations to patient autonomy and violations to patient confidentiality. As a rising senior in the dental hygiene program, I am faced with ethical issues probably every day. We sometimes have patients come in who need treatment that is way past our scope of practice. What do we do? We do what we can for them, that is within our scope of practice, and refer them out. However, I ve heard plenty of stories from our instructors dealing with dentists who will perform oral surgery and even orthodontics when they are not specialized in it. Is it legal? Actually, yes it is. All dentists are provided with training in these areas while in school. The real question is: is it ethical? Personally I would say no, because these dentists are not on the profession skill level of a dentist who has specialized in that area. But, this does happen very often. I ve had time studying some case studies in order to figure out what my ethical beliefs are in order to better place myself when I graduate. Thanks to the American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA), we are provided with Principles of Ethics as well to help us navigate through some of the ethical issues that might sit in our chair that day. However, the dilemmas will require us to dig down deep and make the decision for ourselves as too what we think is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To help me understand how technology has changed, I interviewed my grandmother about the changes in her lifetime. Throughout her life, she has witnessed many technological changes around the world. One change that has occurred in her lifetime is the color TV. When she was born, color TVs existed, however, none of the channels broadcasted in color. It was until she was in her 20s when stations began to transition into color television. She also told me that when she was younger, they would find out the news through newspapers a day or two after the event occurred. However, today we can hit a button on our phones and we ll receive notifications moments after an event has occurred. Lastly, she told me about the first cell phones. She said that the first cell phones were called Brick Phones because they were the size of brick. However, cell phones today are much smaller, and can fit into your pocket. After talking to her about some changes in her life, I asked her how she felt about changes in technology. She said, I m all for progress in technology. However, sometimes it can be very scary because it feels like it s of of your control. After experiencing the scene in the fountain and the delay of the play, Briony sets out to the gardens and begins to thrash at the nettles in their estate. McEwan states, Flaying the nettles was becoming a self purification, and it was childhood she set about now, having no further need for it (70). Although Briony tries to be more mature by criticizing her own childish ways, she only transforms into a more irritating, childlike, young girl who frustratingly takes out her anger by violently thrashing at nettles.
