practice, aptitude, etc.

explain a topic with Excellence.

Learn what to learn, Learn what you learn, Learn what you
learnt.

  Know your Audience:
Don’t discuss E=MC2 with a Fifth Grader; Don’t teach a Chef
de Cuisine, how to cook.

  Set an Agenda:
Design Blueprint. A list of items to touch base upon.

  Create the Content:
Explore all resources. Be Honest with data -use only if
authentic & Stick to Agenda.

  Plan take-away:
Draft written materials for audiences. Can be used as future
reference and improve retention capacity.

  Rehearse:
                                         Presented by Manohar Iyer
Develops confidence. Exposes shortcomings.
Open with a Bang:
Shock the audience. Grab attention. Then start with
something familiar & “Tell what you are going to tell”.

  Platform presence:
Appear nice. Stand erect. Smile. Follow correct body
language. Use comfortable tone. Listen.

  Talk in listeners Language:
Check the lingo level.
E.g.: Don’t just say Integrity. Explain it means adherence
to moral and ethical principles.

Retain Interest:
“Tell what you are telling”. Create picture in minds. Use
sense of humor at the right moment. Give Pauses. Show
interest-Interest is Contagious.

  Use all possible Media:
Black board, Handouts, Audio Speakers, Video Screens,
Animation & clips.

  Involve Participants:
Don’t keep announcing, discuss with them; interact, involve
All, win Trust & keep control on the class.

Know When to stop:
Don’t keep on firing, keep an eye on time.

  Ask questions:
Check understanding. Listen. Correct misunderstandings.
Learn. Don’t assume.

information, but to push the audience towards some definite
future course of action & achieve Excellence.

Soft Skills - How to do a Presentation

  • 3. Presentation means to give, show, exhibit, offer, recommend, bring before, or introduce & explain to the public a topic of interest. Skill means the ability to do something well, an ability which comes from one’s knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc. So Basically we are talking about One’s ability to explain a topic with Excellence.   • 5. Understand the Topic: Learn what to learn, Learn what you learn, Learn what you learnt. Know your Audience: Don’t discuss E=MC2 with a Fifth Grader; Don’t teach a Chef de Cuisine, how to cook. Set an Agenda: Design Blueprint. A list of items to touch base upon. Create the Content: Explore all resources. Be Honest with data -use only if authentic & Stick to Agenda. Plan take-away: Draft written materials for audiences. Can be used as future reference and improve retention capacity. Rehearse: Presented by Manohar Iyer Develops confidence. Exposes shortcomings.
  • 6. Open with a Bang: Shock the audience. Grab attention. Then start with something familiar & “Tell what you are going to tell”. Platform presence: Appear nice. Stand erect. Smile. Follow correct body language. Use comfortable tone. Listen. Talk in listeners Language: Check the lingo level. E.g.: Don’t just say Integrity. Explain it means adherence to moral and ethical principles. Presented by Manohar Iyer
  • 7. Retain Interest: “Tell what you are telling”. Create picture in minds. Use sense of humor at the right moment. Give Pauses. Show interest-Interest is Contagious. Use all possible Media: Black board, Handouts, Audio Speakers, Video Screens, Animation & clips. Involve Participants: Don’t keep announcing, discuss with them; interact, involve All, win Trust & keep control on the class. Presented by Manohar Iyer
  • 8. Know When to stop: Don’t keep on firing, keep an eye on time. Ask questions: Check understanding. Listen. Correct misunderstandings. Learn. Don’t assume. Summarize: “Tell what you have told”. follow order of agenda. Push for Action: The purpose of any presentation is not just passing on information, but to push the audience towards some definite future course of action & achieve Excellence.
