Plant introduction involves introducing plants from their native environment to a new environment. It can involve new crop varieties, wild relatives of crops, or entirely new crop species. Primary introduction releases varieties well-suited to the new environment without alterations, while secondary introduction subjects introduced varieties to selection or hybridization to develop improved varieties. The main plant introduction agency in India is the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, which coordinates other agencies and maintains a gene bank. It has several substations for acclimatizing introduced plant materials in different climatic zones across India. Other agencies involved in plant introduction are the Forest Research Institute and Botanical Survey of India.
Plant breeding methods of vegetatively propagated crops Roksana Aftab Ruhi
Vegetatively propagated crops are bred by intentionally crossing of closely or distantly related individual to produce new crop varieties or lines with desirable traits. Breeding of vegetative crops have successfully improved quality, yield, tolerance of crops to environmental pressure. Breeding helps in producing crops that are resistant to viruses, fungi and bacteria and helps in longer storage period for the harvested crop.

The mating or crossing of two plants or lines of dissimilar genotype is known as hybridization. The chief objective of hybridization is to create genetic variation, when two genotypically different plants are brought together in F1. Here, we are going to discuss about different strategies and tools used for hybridization.
Centres of diversity – types of biodiversity – Centres of origin – Law of homologous series – centers of origin – types of centres of diversity – gene sanctuaries – genetic erosion – main reasons of genetic erosion – extinction – introgression – gene banks – types of gene banks

A laboratory bioassay was conducted to investigate the antifeedant effect of Gomphrena serrata extracts on
sitophilus oryzae (rice weevil) belongs to the family Curculionidae. Antifeedants are natural or synthetic
compounds that stops or inhibits feeding by a pest and especially an insect. Gomphrena serrata- Amaranthacae
family comprises many species which are used in nutrition and traditional folk medicine. Study was done to
find the new active substance in the plant which could show antifeedant activity and compared with standard
Strychnos nuxvomica. The extracts of both sample and standard were obtained by cold maceration process. The
residue formed is collected and both the extracts were subjected to study the antifeedant activity. The activity is
performed by dilution method and found to be showing the antifeedant activity. The primary objective of our
work is simple and cost effective method to find out the active substance from natural resources.
Indiscriminate use of synthetic insecticides has led to problems such as the resurgence of primary pests,
secondary pest’s outbreak, resistance development, insecticide residue, health hazards, environmental
contamination and increased cost of insect control. So this study will be solution for these problems by utilizing
plant’s bioactive molecules. Plants are the most efficient producers of phytochemicals in the environment,
including secondary metabolites that are used by the plant in defence against insects. The secondary metabolites
produced from Gomphrena serrata could be utilized in the development of new biopesticides

Determine the Efficiency of Two Different Methods Used for the Extraction of ...ijtsrd
The plant Moringa oleifera is a rich source of bioactive chemicals and antioxidants. The present study was focused to determine the efficiency of two different method used for the extraction of polyphenols present in the leaves of moringa oleifera. The attempt was made to check the efficiency of both methods used for the extraction process such as soxhlet extraction method and maceration and determined the accuracy of both methods by HP TLC, FTIR and UV Visible spectroscopy. Moringa oleifera possesses relatively higher content of polyphenols. Epidemiology research repeatedly shows that eating foods high in phytochemicals, such as fruits, vegetables, and herbs, reduces the prevalence of disease in people. The presence of polyphenolic chemicals is primarily responsible for this advantageous effect. Because of their strong ability to entrap the free radicals linked to many diseases, polyphenols have attracted a lot of attention. Neel R. Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

3. PLANT INTRODUTION
Plant introduction is a process of introducing plants (a
genotype or a group of genotypes) from their own
environment to a new environment.
The process of introduction may involve new varieties
of crop or the wild relatives of crop species or totally a
new crop species for the area.
4. INTRODUCTION MAY BE
CLASSIFIED INTO TWO
CATEGORIES
Primary Introduction:
When the introduced variety is well suited to new
environment then it is released for commercial
cultivation without any alteration of genotype. For
example, dwarf wheat varieties like ‘Sonora-64’, ‘Lerma
rojo’ and dwarf rice varieties like ‘Taichung Native 1’,
‘IR-8’ are the examples of primary introduction.
5. Secondary Introduction:
When the introduced variety is subjected to Selection
or used in hybridization programme with local
varieties to get the improved varieties with some new
characters introduced called secondary introduction.
For example, the varieties like ‘Kalyan Sona’ and
‘Sonalika’ of wheat have been selected from material
introduced from CIMMYT, Mexico.
6. 4.AGENCIES OF PLANT INTRODUCTION IN
INDIA:
The central plant introduction agency in India is
National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR),
which has its headquarters at New Delhi, but has
substations for testing the plant materials. NBPGR has
the gene bank for long term storage and future use; it
helps to assess the introduced plant material,
coordinates the work of other agencies and imparts
training in plant collection, introduction and
maintenance in India.
7. ARE:
Shimla:
It represents the temperate zone of approx. 2300m
above sea level, place for germplasm collection in
northern hills, station for acclimatization of material
introduced from temperate zone and high altitude.
8. Jodhpur:
Exclusively meant for exploring and acclimatizing
plant material for arid zone, this is under Central Arid
Zone Research Institute
9. Amravati:
This substation carries out acclimatization and
multiplication of introduced material for central zone
of India.
KanyaKumari:
It represents the tropical zone situated at South India.
10. Shillong:
This centre has been created for collection of
germplasm from North-East India.
Other agencies engaged for this purpose are:
Forest Research Institute, Dehradun:
The plant introduction organization set up at the
institute looks after introduction, acclimatization,
conservation and testing of forest trees.
11. Botanical Survey of India:
This body is meant for introduction of medicinal
plants and also plants for botanical importance.
Other Sources:
Different Central Research Institutes as well as
Agricultural Universities play the role for collection,
introduction and maintenance of germplasm of crop
plants.
