What kind of media institution
 might distribute your media
     product and why?
What is distribution?

The distribution of films is the process where a movie
is made available to watch to an audience through a
film distributor. This an be achieved in a number of
ways. For example, through a theatrical release, a
home entertainment (this involves making a movie
available on DVD-video or a Blu-ray disc) or through a
television program for broadcast syndication and may
include digital distribution.
Think about the sort of film you have produced, and the type of
films this company have released before – are they likely to be
                    interested in your film?

This is our chosen distribution company. We have chosen
Lionsgate because from researching the company we have
deducted that we can take influence as Lionsgate has been
the the most successful independent film and television
distribution company in North America as of 2012. It has
also been the sixth most profitable movie studio. We think
that this would help as it would mean that our movie would
be having a wide spread audience because it can be
advertised in America and appeal to our Target Audience
over there. Lionsgate have also distributed a variety of
different films, for example, Texas Chainsaw 3D and The
                 Hunger Games.
Possible marketing strategies, release strategies and exhibition
                            options

Some ways in that we could try and market our movie
is creating adverts on to social networking sites
(for example Facebook could be a good way to try
and advertise our film) as this will help to promote
our film more to our target audience. Before the
official release date, if there are a high amount of
people who want to see the movie, and it becomes
really popular with our target audience, we could
release a small snippet of the film (for example,
the beginning or something from further on into
the film), to continue marketing the film. This has
been quite a success other films who have done
this, for example, Paranormal Activity has been a
popular film, creating 4 films as it became more
popular. They released a small part of the film to
its fans of the film which also attracted more
people to go and see the movie.
