What is distribution
 Distribution is where a company advertises the film
and trying to get the film out there. A process
whereby a movie becomes available to watch and
people are aware of the film. They try to create a
‘buzz’ about the film to get people excited to watch
the film by the media, posters, promotion and the
radio
20th Century FOX
This is an example of a major distribution company. It is know as one of the six
major American film studios as of 2011. It is a major distribution company because
this company distributes all the major and big blockbuster films and that’s how they
have made so much money to make themselves well known and big.
It was located in the century city area of LA (Los Angeles). The company was first
founded on may 31 in 1935. 20th Century are most famous for the films; Star wars,
Ice Age, X-Men, Die, Planet of the apes, Fantastic Four, Avatar and Prometheus.
Lions Gate Entertainment


Lions Gate Entertainment is an American based entertainment company.
It was formed in Vancouver, British Colombia on 3 July 1997. November
2013, it had become the most commercially successful independent film
and television distribution company.



They are a leading global entertainment company with a ‘Strong’ and
‘diversified’ presence in motion picture production and distribution.



Lions Gate Entertainments distribution films: The Twilight Saga: Breaking
dawn – Part 2, The Possession, The Expendables 2, The hunger games
and Safe.
My Film
 If I was to pick a distribution company I would try and approach
Lions Gate entertainment (UK). I would do this because I our film
isn't a massive blockbuster film and that it would need to be
distributed by an independent distribution company rather than a
major. I would pick Lions Gate because although it is a
independent distributor it has distributed many films that have
been successful.


The film that I have made is based in south London, the average
man with a average job, with British cast. They would be
interested in our film be it is generally a well thought out film with a
plot that will give you a mind bobbling thrill, but also the fact it
shows the way you can make a good British psychological thriller
without loads of money being put into the film. Furthermore, where
the film has been based can show good culture when viewed.
Audiences
 Our film is mostly going to appeal to UK audiences but also
might have a wider audience. Our film will be appealing to UK
because it is being made in the UK and the British people like
to see a British film because it makes them proud or not proud
in some cases. It will most likely be appealing to the UK
audiences because that is where it would be distributed, not
aboard as much. It would be distributed in places where the
target audience would be on there day to day activities such as
bus stops and on buses for the younger age of our target
audience to nightclubs for 21+.
 On the other hand it could possibly have a slightly wider
audience because some other countries might like British film
to see how we live or what the typical English person would do
in a psychological scenario.

 Bus stop – Bus stops are a really good way to advertise
your product because although you have a target
audience, everyone gets buses. There isn't a particular
range of age where people stop and don’t get buses.
Advertising on bus stops are a good way because you're
target audience are bound to see the advertisement.
 Trailers – Trailers are good for advertising because the
audience can see glimpses of the film and get people
excited for it but also because it will be trailered in
cinema before the same genre of film so you're
automatically targeting the audience you want.
