Computer-managed instruction (CMI) involves using computer programs to organize and manage instructional data to effectively achieve learning objectives. CMI is characterized by testing, diagnostic assessment of students, prescribing individualized instructional plans, and keeping records. Key functions of CMI include diagnosing students' entry-level knowledge, setting objectives, generating personalized learning plans and materials, monitoring progress, providing remedial support, managing records and testing programs, and generating reports. CMI aims to suggest tailored instructional models for each student based on their strengths and weaknesses.

the computer aid to the instructor in

CMI may be defined as a category of computer
programme that may be used by educators and
instructores to organize and manage data related
to instruction for attaining the stipulated
instructional objectives in a most effective way.
Four areas of computer management support to

2. Keeping records of student performance and
progress through courses.
3. Providing guidance to students and advising them
on the choice of next course module.
4. Reporting on the performance and progress of
students to individual students, tutors and
educational administrators of the institutions.

5. In CMI, on the basis of initial interaction with the student, the
computer suggests the type of models of instruction for him.
The computer will note down the attainment as well as draw
backs of the learner in order to construct his profile. The
profile is used to plan the learning unit for the studentstudent.
Computers are able to perform the task of managing
instructions with the help of a category of suitable software
programme specifically designed fir this purpose. Some of the
