3. BEFORE READING
• Be clear about your REASON for choosing the best strategy
• Choose an interesting topic = MOTIVATION
• Organise a regular TIME
• Preparation (look at vocabulary, layout) = BROADEN YOUR
BACKGROUND
• Choose an APPROPIATE LEVEL (understand at least 85%)

4. WHILE READING
- Don’t look up words in the dictionary.
- Important word = 3 times repeated
- Guessing words by:
- the context
- the position in the sentence.
- Suffixes or prefixes

5. SLOW READERS
- They read < 100 words / minute
- Disadvantages:
- More phisical effort: your eyes get tired.
- More mental effort: you get bored.
- Difficulties in understanding everything,

6. HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR READING
• Don’t go BACK (90% times is
unnecessary)
• Read in CHUNCKS (blocks 3-5
words)
• Reduce the time of each STOP
• Don’t read word by word
• Don’t POINT with the finger, it
slows your mind
